Mokuba tried to write the rules in his favor, but once Yugi learned how to play the game, he was able to devise a strategy to beat Mokuba. Now it is time for you to enter into this tournament and show everyone who is really King of Capsule Monsters. You will be dueling against friends and foes in this chess-like game. Only the best will be crowned King. This game also comes with 3 promotional Yu-Gi-Oh! cards: Abyss Soldier, Inferno Hammer, and Teva. If you are wondering what the CMC-EN stands for on the cards, it means Capsule Monster Coliseum English. Here is the technical information listed for each card you get with the game: Abyss Soldier (Water) 4 Stars CMC-EN001 [Aqua/Effect] Discard 1 Water monster from your hand to the Graveyard. Return 1 card on the field to the owner's hand. You can only use this effect once per turn, during your Main Phase. ATK/1800 DEF/1300 Inferno Hammer (Dark) 6 Stars CMC-EN002 [Fiend/Effect] When this card destroys your opponent's monster and sends it to the Graveyard as a result of battle, you can select 1 face-up monster on your opponent's side of the field and flip it into face-down Defense Position. ATK/2400 DEF/0 Teva (Light) 5 Stars CMC-EN003 [Warrior/Effect] When this card is Tribute Summoned successfully, your opponent cannot declare an attack during his/her next turn. Start here to begin your journey towards becoming the King of Capsule Monsters. You must start this mode and make a save game before being able to play the Free Battle and Versus Mode. You can use all of your acquired and saved Capsule Monsters from this mode in Free Battle and Versus Mode. The name you entered and Symbol Attribute will be the same in Free Battle and Versus mode as the save file. Gotta catch them all! All 200 monsters. O=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-O | Free Battle Mode |-------------------------------------------------[FRBTLMD] O-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=O In Free Battle Mode you can challenge any opponent that you have already beaten in Campaign Mode, with the requisite that you have a save game file with these Duelists already beated. Since you cannot save in this mode, you will not gain any experience or MP, and all evolutions and fusions will not be permanent. Monsters that become incapacitated in this mode are revived once you exit. You can use all the Capsule Monsters you have acquired to play in Free Battle Mode, provided that you use a save game file with said monsters. All in all, this mode is bunk, and you should just continue playing in Campaign mode to level up your monsters and acquire more. O=-=-=-=-=-=-=O | Versus Mode |------------------------------------------------------[VRSSMDE] O-=-=-=-=-=-=-O Use this mode to go head to head with another player or yourself. This mode is useful for evolving and fusing your monsters, because there are no pressures of winning or losing. You will need two unique save game files in order to play this mode, so you cannot just load up your Campaign save and then save it again on another slot. You can, however, make a new Campaign game save file and use it, making sure the names/symbol is different. In this mode you can set the limit of MP (up to 999), AP (up to 999), and Maximum Monster Deployment (up to 6) for each stage. You can battle in the stages you have already conquered, as noted by your save file. You can also bet monsters using the Ante Monster setting. Each player can bet a monster in their Capsule Stock, and if they lose then the other player can claim the monster that was bet. There is a problem with this betting system, however, since one person can bet a monster, but the other person does not have to bet a monster, so it becomes a win/lose situation for the first. If you have two unique save game files you can exploit the game by fighting yourself and winning the Ante Monster. Pit yourself against a brand new Campaign save file (we'll call it "Robot") and bet a monster you want to duplicate, for example a Blue Eyes White Dragon. Let Robot win (by either beating you, or you surrender), claim the Blue Eyes White Dragon, and save its game only. You do not save your game at all, therein lies the exploit, since you do not have to lose your Blue Eyes White Dragon. Return to the Title Screen or reset, and then go back to Versus Mode. Pit yourself against Robot again but this time let Robot bet a Blue Eyes White Dragon. Make sure Robot puts the Blue Eyes White Dragon in its Capsule Stock prior to dueling, or else it will not be able to bet the monster. Simply beat Robot or have him surrender. Save your game. You now have another Blue Eyes White Dragon. You can then repeat the process in this paragraph, or you can just save Robot's file and repeat the paragraph above. This exploit makes it easy to fuse monsters that require multiple copies of itself, such as the Harpie Lady or the Blue Eyes White Dragon. O=-=-=-=-=-=-O | Sound Mode |-------------------------------------------------------[SONDMDE] O-=-=-=-=-=-=O This option brings you into the Sound Mode menu where you can listen to the different songs that play throughout the game. They are not in order, so just scroll through with the Up and Down arrows to select the song you want. You can turn the page by pressing L1 and R1. The three settings you can adjust are "Sound," "Character Voices," and "Vibration." O==================================O | Sound | Stereo | Mono | O==================================O | Character Voices | ON | OFF | |------------------+--------+------| | Vibration | ON | OFF | o----------------------------------o Use the Stereo setting if your TV has two source channels and Mono if your TV only has one source channel for the best quality sound. Most modern TVs will be able to play in Stereo, and if you really want to Mono. You can turn on or off the character voices during cut scenes and battles. The voice actors are the same ones from the cartoon series, so they sound authentic, with the exception of maybe Seto Kaiba. He sounds like Seto Kaiba, but he could sound like himself a lot better compared to the cartoon. You can turn of or off the vibration feature in the game. You will find that the vibration happens only during battle attacks and sometimes map changes. It is pretty much the same amount of vibration for everything, so you won't miss out on anything if you turn it off. O=-=-=-O | Load |-------------------------------------------------------------[LDMYGME] O-=-=-=O Use this option to load your game to resume your Campaign Mode game. This game requires 277 KB for a save file. It is not memory-intensive at all. /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ O============================================================================O | G U I D E [STROGDE]| O============================================================================O \____________________________________________________________________________/ O=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=O | Campaign Mode |----------------------------------------------------[CAMPGDE] O-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-O This is the main story mode, if there was any story to the game at all. When you first start Campaign Mode the game will give you a prompt: o--------------o |Submit entry. | |Enter name. | o--------------o You can then enter in a name for your save file. You can use up to 22 characters. If you can't think of a name then just press the Start button and a name will automatically be entered for you, "MILLENARY SYMBOL," whatever that means. This is the name that you will use when playing in Versus Mode. After you input in a name the game will give you a prompt: o-------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Entered name will be used for save data and Versus Mode. Are you sure? | | Yes | | No | o-------------------------------------------------------------------------o Once you pick your name then you will not be able to change it, even when you beat the game. The same goes for your Symbol's Attribute, so make sure it's a name you like, so that you can start collecting all 200 Capsule Monsters without regret. There is a time-intensive way to transfer all your monsters onto a new game save file that deals with the Ante Monster in Versus Mode, where you put all the monsters you want to transfer in your Capsule Stock, and then one by one you duel yourself and win the Ante Monster. After you select "Yes", the game will give you a prompt: o-------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Creating Symbol. | | For a quick start, play with the preset | | settings by selecting "Purchase Starter Kit." | | Select "Build custom" to create your | | own original arrangement. | o-------------------------------------------------------------------------o o----------------------o | Purchase Starter Kit | | Build Custom | o----------------------o If you decide to purchase a Starter Kit then skip down until you see the cut scene between Yami Yugi and his Grandpa. Keep in mind that if you purchase a Starter Kit you have no control over the amount of Monster Points (MP), Action Points (AP), and Power Points (PP) your symbol has, nor do you have control over what monsters you will get, as they will be selected for you. If you decide to build your own custom army then read on: o-----------------------o | Symbols and Attributes|--------------------------------------------[SYBLATR] o-----------------------o Symbols are basically large crystals that represent you [the player] on the battle field. You can think of the Symbol as the commanding officer for your troops. If your Symbol falls in battle, then the duel is over. Symbols are divided into 8 different Attributes (you can think of the Attributes as different elements). Each element or Attribute has its strengths and weaknesses, just like in real life Thunder (or lightning) is ineffective against Earth (like rocks, they don't conduct electricity), in the game Thunder monsters are weak against Earth monsters, and Earth monsters are strong against Thunder. Each Attribute gives the Symbol a distinct look and color. Here is the list of Attributes Symbols can take: O==============================================================O | Attribute | Color | Effects | Strong Against | Weak Against | O==============================================================O | Dark | Black | None | Earth | Light | |-----------+--------+---------+----------------+--------------| | Fire | Red | Heat | Wood | Water | |-----------+--------+---------+----------------+--------------| | Wind | Clear | Wisps | Water | Wood | |-----------+--------+---------+----------------+--------------| | Wood | Green | Gas | Wind | Fire | |-----------+--------+---------+----------------+--------------| | Light | Clear | Aura | Dark | Thunder | |-----------+--------+---------+----------------+--------------| | Water | Blue | Wisps | Fire | Wind | |-----------+--------+---------+----------------+--------------| | Earth | Brown | None | Thunder | Dark | |-----------+--------+---------+----------------+--------------| | Thunder | Purple | Bolts | Light | Earth | |--------------------------------------------------------------| | Light -> Dark Water -> Fire | | ^ | ^ | | | | v | v | | Thunder <- Earth Wind <- Wood | o--------------------------------------------------------------o Before picking your Symbol's Attribute, keep in mind that you will strengthen monsters that are of the same Attribute as your Symbol, but you will also weaken monsters that are opposite of your Symbol's Attribute. This increase or decrease in power is known as the Symbol's Effect Strength, and directly affects whether a monster's Power Points (PP), Attack [Power], and Defense [Power] goes up or down. If you don't care what color your Symbol is then I would suggest picking Fire, since Fire monsters are extremely powerful, and they are known to have some of the highest Attack points in the game. Picking the Fire Attribute, you will only weaken Wood monsters if you have them, and there aren't too many good Wood monsters out there to begin with. There are only two duelists that have their Symbol Attribute as Water and three with Wind, so you don't need to worry about constant tough battles. Even though Wind monsters have high Defense, your Fire monsters will have enough Attack power to light them up. As for Water monsters, your Fire Attribute has no negative effect on your Wind monsters, so send those Water monsters flying. Another good choice for beginners is the Wind and Water Attributes. Wind and Water monsters generally have high Defense points, and when you start maxing out your Symbol's Effect Strength, you will be able to take serious beatings without breaking a sweat. If you're feeling gutsy, then go ahead and pick the Dark Attribute. Once you get Summoned Lord Exodia, you will see some insanely high Attack points. There are quite a few Dark monsters that pack a punch like Fire monsters, with the offset being that there are a lot of Light Attribute Duelists and monsters ready to take you down. After picking your Symbol's Attribute you can pick what kind of pedestal (and its color) your Symbol will sit upon. The pedestals are purely for aesthetic reasons, and they do not affect the game play in any way. Here is the list of different pedestals and colors you can choose: O=============================O O==========O | Pedestal Type | Description | | Colors | O=============================O O==========O | Horn | Two Horns | | Ash | |---------------+-------------| |----------| | Ring | Orbit Rings | | Wood | |---------------+-------------| |----------| | Wing | Large Wings | | Pink | |---------------+-------------| |----------| | Tower | Column | | Onyx | |---------------+-------------| |----------| | Fiend | Two Points | | Cyan | |---------------+-------------| |----------| | Fairy | Fairy Wings | | Green | |---------------+-------------| |----------| | Palace | Hourglass | | Purple | |---------------+-------------| |----------| | Needle | Spiked Ball | | Platinum | o-----------------------------o o----------o After you choose your Symbol's Attribute, pedestal, and pedestal color, then you can start assigning values to your Symbol, namely Monster Points (MP), Action Points (AP), and Power Points (PP). These terms are all explained in the Capsule Monster Basics section. Anyway, you start out with 200/200 points and can assign them to any of the three categories. O===================================O | Symbol | Base | Each Point | O===================================O | MP | 400 | Increases MP by 3 | |--------+------+-------------------| | AP | 50 | Increases AP by 1 | |--------+------+-------------------| | PP | 160 | Increases PP by 4 | o-----------------------------------o Your best bet would be to put all your points into AP, so that you can start summoning more monsters at the beginning of battles. Another route you can choose to go is to go strictly PP and use your Symbol as bait to lure out enemies and to be used as a punching bag. I wouldn't recommend getting any MP at all, since you will be earning MP throughout the game, and in this game more monsters are better than fewer powerful ones, since the mechanics aren't really that fine-tuned. After you decide the stats for your symbol the game will give you a prompt: o-------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Once your game starts, | | you can't change the Symbol's settings. | | Are you satisfied with the settings? | | Yes | | No | o-------------------------------------------------------------------------o O============================================================================O | After Starting A New Campaign Game, Before Picking Your Capsule Monsters | O============================================================================O | Grandpa: Ha ha ha ha ha ha! | | | | Yami Yugi: G-Grandpa! | | | | Grandpa: Ah, I thought you would come, Yugi. | | | | Yami Yugi: What are you doing? | | | | Grandpa: I knew you wouldn't have prepared anything. You're always so | | impatient. I brought monsters that you can use in the | | tournament. | | | | Yami Yugi: That's my grandpa! | | | | Grandpa: I'll exchange them for Monster Points (MP)! | | | | Yami Yugi: MP? | | | | Grandpa: You can earn MP by winning during the tournament. Keep winning | | to get more and more. | | | | Yami Yugi: Ah, I see! | | | | Grandpa: Let me give you some tips. Monsters can be separated into | | Light, Dark, Fire, Water, Earth, Wood, Wind, and Thunder. In | | other words, each monster has a different Attribute. And each | | Attribute has a different advantage and disadvantage. I'll | | explain what they are, but---if you don't think you can | | remember them, I suggest you take notes! Are you ready? Here | | they are! Light is strong against Dark, and Dark is strong | | against Earth. Fire is strong against Wood, and Water is | | strong against Fire. Earth is strong against Thunder, and Wood | | is strong against Wind. Wind is strong against Water, and | | Thunder is strong against Light. That's it! If you remember | | these relationships, it will increase your chances for | | victory. | | | | Yami Yugi: So only having monsters of a single Attribute is dangerous! | | | | Grandpa: That's my grandson! You learn quickly! However, you should | | always take your opponent's Attribute into account. That's | | another important point to remember. Each stage has a set limit of MP, and the total MP of | | the monsters you use cannot exceed the limit. | | | | Yami Yugi: I see. That means--- If the MP limit of the Stage is 100, then | | I can use 10 monsters that are 10 MP each, or I can only use 5 | | monsters if they are 20 MP each. | | | | Yugi: That's right. So you have to think carefully about the balance | | of which monsters to use! | | | | Yami Yugi: OK! Thanks, Yugi! | O----------------------------------------------------------------------------O O============================================================================O | First Duel With Joey, After Placing Monsters On Map, Before Summoning | O============================================================================O | Yugi: Hey, in order to move your pieces, you need AP. | | | | Yami Yugi: I see. And if you don't have enough AP then you can't move your | | pieces anymore. | | | | Yami Yugi: So I have to be careful about the amount of AP when thinking | | about how to move my pieces. | | | | Yugi: Uh huh. But first, you can't move anything if you don't summon | | monsters from your capsules, so you have to choose which | | monsters to summon. | | | | Yami Yugi: You're right. This number must be the amount of AP that increases on my | | turn. | | | | Yugi: Yeah. And if you summon a monster, it'll increase. | | | | Yami Yugi: That means... You can go into the "Build Unit" or "Monster Collection" functions. If you go into the Build Unit menu, you are taken to your Capsule Deck, where you can organize which monsters will be in your battle line-ups. Press X on a current monster or empty slot to be taken to your Capsule Stock (where all your monsters in holding are). You can then exchange a monster in your Deck from your Stock and vice versa by pressing the X button. Press O to exit the current menu. Only monsters in your Deck can be summoned to battles. You are allotted 50 slots for your Capsule Deck. Scroll through your Deck by using the L1 and R1 buttons. If you go into the Monster Collection menu, you are taken to a list of all the monsters you have acquired thus far into the game. There are a total of 200 monsters and the game keeps track of how many different types of monsters you have gotten in your Capsule Deck or Stock. You can press the L1 and R1 buttons to scroll through the different Attributes and press X on a certain monster to see what it's Capsule piece will look like on the battle field. Press X again to see what the monster will look like during a battle sequence. Press O to exit the current menu. o------o | Shop |-------------------------------------------------------------[SHPFOMS] o------o In this menu, you are greeted by Grandpa. O==================================O | Sound | Stereo | Mono | O==================================O | Character Voices | ON | OFF | |------------------+--------+------| | Vibration | ON | OFF | o----------------------------------o Use the Stereo setting if your TV has two source channels and Mono if your TV only has one source channel for the best quality sound. Most of the time you will want to skip battle scenes anyway, because they get repetitive. o------------------------o | Return to Title Screen |-------------------------------------------[RTTOTTL] o------------------------o Use this option to return to the Title Screen. And don't think I'm gonna take it easy on ya | | just because you're my friend! I'm not holdin' anything back! | | | | Yami Yugi: Then let's get started, Joey! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O Be very careful if you are going to use Wood monsters on this stage, since Joey exclusively uses Fire monsters, and Fire monsters are known to have some of the highest attacks in the game. If you use Wood monsters, don't be surprised if he destroys them in one fell swoop. You could use Water monsters, but there aren't too many good choices of Water monsters now. At most, I'd recommend getting a Root Water or a White Dolphin. to deal with the Fire Reapers. The Root Water moves and attacks in the exact same pattern as the Fire Reaper. Be sure to always stay one step ahead of Fire Reaper's attack reach. If you line up your shots correctly, you can wait until a Fire Reaper moves into your attack range, and then on your next turn, move all your monsters that can attack that particular Fire Reaper into attack range and blast away. Two hits should destroy a Fire Reaper. After 4 rounds of turns, a map change will occur. The fountain in that stage will start to spit out more and more water, and the water level will rise up one height block. You can use this map change to your advantage since Joey is only using Fire monsters. Either lure the Fire Reapers into the water areas, thereby decreasing their already low defense, or move your Water monsters into the water areas to increase their attack power. It isn't too uncommon to see a Fire Reaper go down in one hit by a Water monster that is fully utilizing the map change to its advantage. After another 1 round of turns, the fountain will start to spit out more water, and it will increase the water level on the stage another height block. If you weren't using the map change to your advantage now, now is your chance to do so. This is the highest the water level will be, so make every hit count. After another 3 rounds of turns, the fountain's pressure will begin to wane and the water level will drop one height block. Then after another 2 rounds of turns, the fountain's pressure will go back to normal, and the water level will be at the height when you started the duel. After the duel is over, be sure to take 2 Fire Reapers. You can use them for later battles, or you can sell them for some MP. They are pretty handy since they are ranged attackers, and their attack power is good. On the other hand they do have extremely low defense and their bonus AP is bad. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Joey: I lost, Yugi. | | | | Yami Yugi: But Joey, you fought valiantly. | | | | Joey: Heh--- Yea, I guess I did. Maybe that's why I don't feel that | | bad that I lost. Now, Yuge--- Don't you be losin' any other | | duels, all right? | | | | Yami Yugi: Of course! I won't let you down! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O O=====================O O================O O==========================O | Stage | | Duelist | | Monsters | O=====================O O================O O==========================O | Condemned Warehouse | | Tristan Taylor | | Petit Moth (Wood) | | [CDMWRHS] | |----------------| | Petit Moth (Wood) | |---------------------| | Symbol (Wood) | | Kaminarikozou (Thunder) | | Maximum MP - 300 | o----------------o | Steel Scorpion (Thunder) | | Maximum AP - 300 | o--------------------------o | Max Monsters - 6 | | Clear Bonus - 200 | | | | Map Attributes | | Light - 5 | | Dark - 14 | | Wood - 6 | o---------------------o "The street is very narrow, so it is easy for your team to bunch up." That is my proof as a true duelist!! | | | | Tristan: Oh,.. Um... M-Maybe you don't need to use ALL your skills... | | Y-You know, maybe just some. Please... ? | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O Be mindful of the traps on this stage. On the left hand side of the stage, where there are the elevated platforms, you'll see some kind of mossy, green, gassy colors on those grid spaces. All pieces take damage on those grid spaces except for Wood monsters. Take a look at the right hand side of the stage too, where there are downed power lines and electricity running all through the floor. All pieces take damage on those grid spaces with electricity running through them except for Thunder monsters. The Petit Moths are nothing major to worry about. They are some of the weakest monsters in the game, and they are the weakest monsters in Tristan's line-up. They will start coming after you at the start of the match, but lure them through the Wood trap area until they start coming to you in a single file. Position some ranged monsters just ahead of the Petit Moth's arrack range, and you're all set. You can even use the Fire Reapers you acquired from the last duel to destroy these Petit Moths with ease. Aside from the easy-to-beat Petit Moths, Tristan also has a Kaminarikozou and a Steel Scorpion. They are both Thunder monsters and pack quite a punch. They will most likely be coming after you and your Symbol through the electricity trap grids. The Kaminarikozou c an also jump diagonally through the middle of the map to get to you faster, so be aware of that, and if possible, position a monster to block that route. Since the Kaminarikozou can only move 3 spaces, and there are 2 spaces it needs to jump over before reaching the other side, you can position a monster on that last grid space to block the Kaminarikozou from taking that shortcut. The Kaminarikozou can be easily nullified by moving your monsters in the grid spaces adjacent to its movement spaces. Since the Kaminarikozou can only move and attack in the X pattern, if your monsters are moving in the + pattern (2 spaces at a time), then they can never be hit by the Kaminarikozou. The only real threat to you is the Steel Scorpion. Its movement and attack pattern can effectively reach any square, so you can't hide from its attacks. Just make sure that you stay out of its attack reach until you are ready to attack him on the next turn with your monsters to destroy it in one round. After the duel is over, take the Kaminarikozou and Steel Scorpion. Don't even bother getting the Petit Moths, since they suck, and they only cost 25 MP each, so it's not too hard to buy one. The Thunder monsters that you can get from Tristan are so much more useful, since they are ranged attackers. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Tristan: Sigh--- I knew I didn't stand a chance against an expert like | | you, but it was a lot of fun! I challenge you to a duel! | | | | Yami Yugi: I accept your challenge, Duke Devlin! | | | | Duke Devlin: When I win, all will hail the new champion! | | | | Yami Yugi: It's time to duel! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O There are no traps on map changes on this battlefield. The only danger is that it is a really small map. After summoning, Duke Devlin can attack you in two turns, if you don't move anywhere. And if you do move into his attack range, he might even be able to attack you in one turn if you moved first. To make matters worse, all of his monsters are ranged attackers. The three Kuribohs he has are very hardy creatures. They have a fair amount of PP and defense, so it might be a little hard taking them down if you don't have any Light monsters. They still should go down in 2 hits though. My suggestion is to make note of where the Kuribohs move on their first turn and then on the next turn, your turn, move your ranged attackers in to destroy 2 of his Kuribohs. If at all possible, you can block the Kuribohs from being able to reach and attack you. Since they move in an X pattern and attack in a + pattern, if you move directly into their movement range, they won't be able to get pass you, and they won't be able to attack you either, because you are not in any of the adjacent spaces. However, on the other hand, just like Tristan, Duke Devlin has two Steel Scorpions, and they can pretty much attack anywhere. Make sure you are always taking note of where the Steel Scorpions can move and what their attack reach looks like, so you're not walking into a trap. The Steel Scorpions hit pretty hard, but they can fall in one hit if you have and Fire monsters and the Fire Attribute for your Symbol. It is easy to defeat all of Duke Devlin's monsters as it is easy to defeat some of his monsters then go after his Symbol, so the choice it yours. After the duel is over, take the 2 Kuribohs, since you already took a Steel Scorpion in the previous duel with Tristan. If you're already the Dark Attribute for your Symbol, you can buy Kuribohs already at Grandpa's shop, so you can take the Steel Scorpions if you want, or a combination of the two. You'll hardly ever use 2 Steel Scorpions in one duel though. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Duke Devlin: Yugi, you really are the King of Games! | | | | Yami Yugi: You're not too bad yourself--- | | | | Duke Devlin: I lost, but I don't regret a thing because I dueled my | | best---! O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Tea: Yugi, here I come! | | | | Yami Yugi: Tea!! | | | | Tea: I--- I always to duel against you to see how I would do! | | | | Yami Yugi: Ah--- But don't expect me to take it easy on you, Tea! | | | | Tea: Of course not! I'll never forgive you if you treat me with | | kiddie gloves! | | | | Yami Yugi: Okay! Let's duel! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O Just like fighting Tristan, Tea will split up her forces into two different groups. One group will be all Light monsters (Happy Lovers and Skelengel) and the other group will be a balanced group of Water (Root Water) and Wood (Petit Moths). The Light group will start coming after you from the left of the cab, and the other group will start coming after you from the right of the cab. Be careful of her Light monsters, because they are strengthened from light coming from the street lamps. There will be a map change where all the power in the street goes out, so the street lamps will no longer shine, giving you a chance to overpower her Light monsters. You can either start out by planning an attack and waiting on your side of the map, or you can go out and meet her forces. If you do decide to go out and attack her, make sure you go after the Light group first, since the Happy Lovers have high movement range. If you go after the other group first, then the Happy Lovers will be sure to flank you. Tea doesn't have any Earth monsters, so if you want to bring in some Thunder monsters to take care of her Light monsters then that would be a wise move. However, if you want to bring in Fire or Wind monsters to combat her Petit Moths and Root Water, be aware that they can back each other up, the Petit Moths going after your Wind monsters and the Root Water going after your Fire monster. The Root Water and Petit Moths will bunch up together, so you have to take out one Attribute group in one turn, or else you'll encounter a very swift and painful counterattack. Just make sure to take on one group at a time, and you'll be able to win in no time. You'll probably defeat all of her monsters before you even get a chance to attack her Symbol, since it's all the way in the back. After this duel you should take her Root Water and Skelengel, since they are ranged attackers. The Happy Lovers and Petit Moths are easy to come by, costing only 30 and 25 MP respectively. Melee-ranged attacks just don't compare with ranged-attackers in this game, even though sometimes they have higher Attack power. A melee monster can die before even hitting a missile monster. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Tea: Oh no, I lost... Still... I had a lot of fun! How about you, | | Yugi? O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Grandpa: I see you're dueling well, Yugi! | | | | Yami Yugi: Grandpa...! | | | | Grandpa: But let's see how well you do against me. | | | | Yami Yugi: I won't be able to let my guard down for a second--- This is | | going to be my toughest duel yet! | | | | Grandpa: That's right--- I may be old, but with age comes experience | | and knowledge! Now, why don't we begin, Yugi?! | | | | Yami Yugi: All right---! It's time to duel! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O This is a very tricky stage if you are using Wood or Fire monsters, even Wind and Water monsters, since the Attributes are all tied together. Every time your monster moves onto a panel in the middle of the stage, all adjacent panels not occupied by a monster flip around. So if your monster jumps in the middle of Fire spaces, the space it landed on will remain Fire, but the spaces to the top, bottom, left, and right of your monster will flip over and turn to Wood. If you are using Wood, Fire, Wind, or Water monsters, then you'll want to carefully consider each move you make, and each move the computer will make, since you don't want to land on a compromising space. You don't want the computer landing on spaces that are beneficial for itself either. But no matter where you start, Grandpa will be able to attack you in 2 turns just like when you fought Duke Devlin at the Voltage Cage, and it will be the same monster that will be able to attack you, Kuriboh. Right behind the Kuriboh is the Right Arm of the Forbidden One, and to top it all off, both these pieces are ranged attackers. Grandpa will always send the Right Arm of the Forbidden One a little ways behind Kuriboh, so if you ever decide to attack Kuriboh, chances are you'll be hit on the next turn by the Right Arm of the Forbidden One. A safe bet is to put some Light monsters on the front lines, so either they can attack Kuriboh as its coming onto your side of the board, or they can withstand its attack without suffering too much damage, since they are its advantage monsters. After sending out Kuriboh and Right Arm of the Forbidden One, Grandpa will always send a pair of Petit Moths after you. These Petit Moths can pack quite a punch on this map with the Wood spaces all over the place. Unless they are attacking Fire monsters or they are on Fire spaces when attacking, they will most likely be able to take out any of your monsters in two hits, and since they come in a pair, well, that makes it double trouble for you. When things really get shaking and you have destroyed some of Grandpa's monsters, he will send out the most powerful monster he has on board, Cockroach Knight. With base stats of 233 PP, 122 AT, and 33 DF, Cockroach Knight is a force to be reckoned with. It already has high amounts of life and defense, and the Wood spaces on the board will only help to strengthen it. If you don't have any Fire monsters on deck, it will probably take anywhere from 3 to 5 hits to take out that monster. Grandpa's Symbol will always be hiding in the back, so it might be hard to get at. You'll probably all the monsters before you even get near his Symbol, since the entrance to the back is only 2 spaces wide. So unless you're really aiming to take out his Symbol, you'll probably just run into his forces and take them out first. After the duel, make sure you get Right Arm of the Forbidden One, because that's the only place you can get it, and it's the only Exodia piece that can't be bought, and also snag the Cockroach Knight even if you're Fire Attribute. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Grandpa: You've improved your skills greatly, Yugi. I lose. | | | | Yami Yugi: But you held your own extremely well! | | | | Grandpa: Ha ha--- But don't let your guard down. Long time no see! Yugi... If you want to | | get your grubby little hands on that tournament title, you'll | | have to go through me! | | | | Yami Yugi: Then that's what I'll do, Weevil! I'll take you on anytime, | | anyplace! | | | | Weevil: How about right now, right here? | | | | Yami Yugi: That's fine with me! It's time to duel! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O It doesn't matter which side of the map you start on, you're at a disadvantage to Weevil, unless perhaps you bring in some Fire monsters, and you're not on the side starting in the water. Whether Weevil starts in the forest or in the water, he's got an advantage both ways. If he starts out in the forest, his Wood monsters will have the board advantage, and if he starts out in the water, his Root Water will be near the water to be powered up, just in case you send any Fire monsters his way. Even if he starts on the water, his Wood monsters will just make their way towards you in the forest, thereby giving him his advantage. This will be a very tough fight if you don't employ the help of Fire monsters, but you have to be careful of that Root Water that is standing by ready to take you out. Weevil also has a misfit monster in his line-up, Shovel Crusher. You'll have to tread lightly when advancing your forces, since Shovel Crusher can move 3 spaces and attack 2 spaces long. He will always put Shovel Crusher a little ways behind his main attack force of bugs, so you probably won't be able to get in your hits without reprisal. To make things worse, the map changes on this board only help Weevil out. The moon will come shining out after several turns, and you'll see dragon flies start fluttering around, along with the toadstools and mushrooms start to glow from the moonlight. When this change is in effect all Wood monsters gain a map advantage. Make sure you don't get hit too hard by Weevil's Cockroach Knight and Larvae Moth. Both of those monsters pack a punch and have high PP, so they might be hard to destroy if you've no Fire. After a while clouds will start to gather in front of the moon and the moonlight will be blocked. The dragon flies will go away and the mushrooms and toadstools no longer glow. The advantage that was given to Wood monsters is now taken away, but along with the clouds comes rain. The rain will also raise up the water level one height, so if Weevil still has his Root Water it will be at an advantage. If you haven't lost any monsters in a fight yet, this just might be the first duel where one of your monsters dies, since Weevil sends all his troops after you closely knit together. Fire monsters will make your duel against Weevil considerably easier, just be careful of Shovel Crusher and Root Water. Once the duel is you have a couple choices to make on which monsters you want to take. Larvae Moth is the evolved form of Petit Moth, so it's no real big deal, but you can get it if you want. I'd take Shovel Crusher and Root Water or the Cockroach Knight. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Weevil: Noooooo! How could I lose---?! | | | | Yami Yugi: Heh--- A duel is never over until the very end. | | | | Weevil: Ahhhhhh! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O O===================O O================O O=======================O | Stage | | Duelist | | Monsters | O===================O O================O O=======================O | Sea of Miracles | | Mako Tsunami | | Torike (Earth) | | [COMRCLS] | |----------------| | Root Water (Water) | |-------------------| | Symbol (Water) | | Happy Lover (Light) | | Maximum MP - 580 | o----------------o | Happy Lover (Light) | | Maximum AP - 450 | | Fiend Kraken (Water) | | Max Monsters - 7 | | Psychic Kappa (Water) | | Clear Bonus - 350 | o-----------------------o | | | Map Attributes | | Light - 36 | | Wind - 10 | o-------------------o "A mysterious shore. I'm just | | confirming that your forces will not stand a chance against | | the power of the crashing waves and the thunderous seas! | | | | Yami Yugi: I'll prove that I'm not afraid of creatures that lurk beneath | | the surface. | | | | Mako: Then that's a mistake! Father! Wherever you are, watch me | | attain victory by conquering Yugi with my aquatic army! It's | | time to duel, Yugi!! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O Be prepared for another tough battle if you don't have and use the right monsters. This whole map is pure sea, and Mako is a Water duelist. He has 3 Water monsters, which includes Fiend Kraken, which is one tough cookie. Fiend Kraken has a base PP of 227, AT of 119, and DF of 52. Factor in all the bonuses it will get from being on Water spaces, you might have a very tough time breaking down Fiend Kraken's defenses. Your best bet is to bring in some Wind monsters to help you out. Since this whole map is completely Water, you can consider waiting for the enemy to come to you, instead of blindly rushing Mako. If you can hold out long enough a map change will occur, where the wreckage of an old ship will come to the surface. The middle of the map will be this uprooted ship, and that will give your monsters some footing along with taking away the Water advantage for Mako's monsters. Aside from his obvious Water advantage, Mako also has some other misfit monsters in his group. He has Torike running around on the craggy shores, but Torike's movement and attack reach is very small, so you won't be surprised to see him coming your way. He will rarely set foot in water, so just keep a safe distance away from him. He does have a lot of PP ranking in at 250, so if you want to bring in a Dark monster just to take him out specifically you can, but be aware that Mako has 2 Light monsters. Along with the misfit Torike, Mako also has 2 Happy Lovers. These Happy Lovers are average when it comes to PP, AT, and DF, but they make exceptional backup for Mako's Water monsters because of their long movement range of 4 spaces. Mako will always send the Happy Lovers closely behind his Water monsters, so if you ever attack his Water monsters, you will be sure to have a counter-attack from these Happy Lovers. Even though they are weak, multiple attacks from both Mako's Water monsters and Happy Lovers will leave your attack force crippled. Mako doesn't have any Wood monsters, so if you send in a fleet of Wind monsters to take care of his Water monsters you should be alright. Wind monsters generally have a high amount of DF too, so they should be alright. If possible, try to take out the Fiend Kraken before Mako summons it. It will be several rounds before Mako even summons the Fiend Kraken, so if you can find a way to destroy it while it's still in its vulnerable capsule, then you'll be better off, just be mindful that all his attack force is nearby, so either used ranged attackers or do a hit-and-run. After the duel is over, be sure to take Fiend Kraken and Torike. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Mako: Excellent duel, Yugi! I lost!! | | | | Yami Yugi: You were quite the expert yourself! | | | | Mako: Thank you, but there's no need to make me feel better. I did | | my best, but I came up a little short. But next time--- I will | | win! So save your pity! You will see how much stronger I will | | become! | | | | Yami Yugi: All right, Mako! Rex Raptor! | | | | Rex Raptor: That's right, Yugi...! Now come on... I'm going to humiliate | | you like a Chumpasaurus Rex! | | | | Yami Yugi: Go ahead and try... It's time to duel! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O Are you ready for your next match with a Super monster? Rex Raptor has a very powerful monster in his arsenal called the Two-Headed King Rex. With 300 PP and an attack power of 140, this monster is no piece of cake. It can withstand a lot of punishment and also dish it out as well, so when Rex Raptor turns this monster loose, watch out. Unlike the Fiend Kraken, the Two-Headed King Rex only has an attack range of one, so you can always plan ahead to stay out of its reach. There are no map changes on this map, but there are map traps. Be aware of the poison gas spaces that look like some kind of dark purple liquid. All monsters, except Earth-based, will take damage in those spots. Naturally, Rex Raptor will send his Earth monsters, Larvas and Torike, through those channels, giving them a boost. You can take out Larvas and Torike on their own ground, but make sure you do so in one round, because you don't want to weaken yourself too much by staying in that bog, giving them a chance to counter-attack and destroy you on the next turn. You can bring in your Dark monsters to take care of Rex Raptor's Earth Monsters, but remember that Rex Raptor also has two Thunder monsters that will be able to seriously damage your Dark monsters, Shovel Crusher and Steel Scorpion. Unlike Rex's two Earth monsters, these two Thunder monsters have decent movement and attack range, so it will be a little harder to stay out of their clutches. Also with high movement and attack range are his two Kuribohs. You probably won't be able to get by without taking a hit here and there. Aside from Rex Raptor's Earth monsters, he has a well-balanced team that compliment each other, so you can't just bring in all Light monsters to destroy his Dark monsters, because he has Thunder monsters ready to bring on the pain, and you can't just bring in only Earth monsters to deal with his Thunder monsters, because he has Dark monsters ready to bring in the hurt. Another choice you can think about is using Attribute on the opposite spectrum, since Rex Raptor has all monsters in the first Attribute Spectrum, you can bring in monsters from the other Attribute Spectrum, so there won't be an advantage or disadvantage to you, such as Water, Fire, Wood, and Wind monsters. Once you beat him make sure to take the Two-Headed King Rex, if anything at all. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Rex Raptor: [Missing first line] Why--- Why did I lose? | | | | Yami Yugi: It was a close match, Rex Raptor, but I'm the winner! | | | | Rex Raptor: Grr--- I hate you! So you finally came, Yugi. | | | | Yami Yugi: Mai--- Just to let you know, I don't think you can put perfume | | on your pieces to help you, like you did at Duelist Kingdom. | | | | Mai: Very funny, Yugi. But you should know by now that I don't need | | to use tricky tactics to win. I've been studying this new game | | just so that I can defeat you! Let's duel, Yugi! | | | | Yami Yugi: Fine! I accept your challenge!! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O If you haven't suffered a crushing defeat yet, you may be in for a surprise when facing Mai Valentine. The map that you play on boosts Mai's Wind monster a ton. Not only does the Wind pick up, but it will start to blow harder and then even harder, each map change making her Wind monsters more powerful than before, and because most Wind monsters have high movement ranges, it isn't too uncommon to see Mai rush in her Harpie Ladies and take you out in one turn. You can bring in some Wood monsters to help take out her Harpie Ladies, One- Eyed Shield Dragon, and Wicked Dragon with the Ersatz Head, but be careful, because she has some powerful Fire monsters to back up her Wind monsters, Flame Manipulator and Mechanical Snail. If you venture too far on her side of the map your Wood monsters will be toast, literally. And you can't just bring in Water monsters to take care of those Fire monsters, because she'll be sending in her agile Wind monsters to make short work of you. Whatever way you look at it, you're in a bad fix if you try to counter her monsters. What you can try is sending in monsters of the opposite Attribute Spectrum, such as Light, Dark, Earth, or Thunder, or you can bring in the same type monsters as Mai's and just duke it out until someone is the victor. She does have an advantage in that her Harpie Ladies are the strongest Wind monsters available thus far in the game, and her Jigen Bakudan is as strong as the other Fire monsters available, but another one you can't just buy. No matter what route you decide to go, you can battle it out in the center of the map or wait for Mai to come to you. If you wait, then Mai will send out her Wind monsters first, since they have exceptionally long movement ranger, most particularly her Harpie Ladies. You can try to ambush her Harpie Ladies as they make it to your side of the map with some Wood monsters, but her Flame Manipulator will be close on your tails, since it has an above-average movement range. If you want to go after Mai then be prepared to take a lot of beatings in the center of the map. What will probably happen is that Mai will attack you first with her Harpie Ladies, then her Wicked Dragon with the Ersatz Head will attack you at an angle, hiding behind the walls, and if the One- Eyed Shield Dragon is still in play, it will probably go after you too. Close behind will be the Flame Manipulator and Mechanical Snail. She won't send out her Jigen Bakudan until the very end. Once you beat Mai, you have a couple choices to make. The two new monsters you can get are Jigen Bakudan and Harpie Lady, but bear in mind that it takes three Harpie Ladies to fuse in the Harpie Lady Sisters. You can get two Harpie Ladies and start leveling them up now, or you can get one Harpie Lady and the Jigen Bakudan to go towards 100% completion of the monster list. Whatever road you take, you'll need to fight Mai twice to be able to get all 3 Harpie Ladies needed for the fusion. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Mai: [Missing first line?] One way is to lose everything--- The | | other way is to lose a battle in order to win the war--- I'm | | going to learn from this loss so that I can become stronger, | | and I will beat you in the future! I've gotten a | | lot better since then! | | | | Yami Yugi: Okay, I believe you. There's no need to yell. | | | | Mokuba: Anyway, Yugi, I challenge you to a duel! | | | | Yami Yugi: I accept, Mokuba! | O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O If you remember your fight against Tristan in the Condemnened Warehouse, you'll be familiar with this map. Once again there are two routes to take to your enemy on the left and on the right. Unlike the Condemned Warehouse, no monster can jump through the middle either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. You'll have to split up your forces in order to defend your base, because Mokuba will be sending his monsters after you through both openings, even though it may look like he'll send them all down on path. Aside from his Droll Bird, all of Mokuba's monsters are ranged attackers, and even then his Droll Bird has exceptionally high movement range which makes up for its lack in attack range. No matter which monster you attack, you'll probably be looking at a counter-attack on the next time by another monster. He'll position his monsters just like Mai Valentine, so that each one will protect the other in some way. There's no real good strategy for this map at all. Most of the fighting will be done by the openings on the map, or you can wait for Mokuba to send his monsters all the way onto your side of the map, but then you risk exposing your Symbol to attack. If you've pumped your Symbol full of PP since the very beginning, that won't be such a problem, since your Symbol will be able to take several hits and maybe even bait the enemy. Mokuba has a lot of Thunder monsters in his line-up and rightfully so. The traps on this map are at the openings on the side and at the very start where you begin. After a while the floor will open up underneath you and reveal electric spaces, and all monsters standing on those spaces that aren't Thunder Attribute will take damage. You can bring in some Earth monsters to help deal with the Thunder monsters Mokuba has, but most Earth monsters you have right now will probably have poor movement and attack range, and Mokuba will probably be able to score a hit or two off you before you can even counter-attack. Also keep in mind that he has two misfit Wind monsters, so you can bring in some Wood monsters to help with that. Wood monsters are fairly well- balanced, so they should be able to survive throughout the match. You should go with Wood monsters and maybe some other type of misfit that don't match up with Mokuba's Attribute, such as Dark or Fire. Once the match is over you can take any monster you want. There are no monsters you haven't seen, gotten, or bought yet, so take what you want and sell them. A majority of the time Bakura will win the draw and pick that split deployment area to start the duel with, but if you get lucky or keep trying to get the highest draw then you can pick that side of the map if you want to. That split side is probably the most advantageous, because your movements aren't immediately blocked by terrain. Half of Bakura' s forces are Dark Attribute just like his Symbol, and he doesn't have any Light monsters at all, so you can bring in some Light monsters to wreak havoc on his Dark monsters, but most of his Dark monsters are relatively weak, even though his Kuriboh does have decent stats, weak compared to his awesome Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1. Only one of Bakura's monsters are melee-ranged, Larvas, so always be on the lookout and plan your moves ahead of time, especially when dealing with the Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1, because it has a devastating 3- panel reach. Being a Wind monster the Winged Dragon has high Defense and Attack power, so it might take several hits before you can take it down. The other big thread to you will probably be the Queen of Autumn Leaves, but you can easily position your monsters so that none of her hits will be able to reach you, but because she is a Wood monster, she does have high PP and Defense, so unless you have a Fire monster with you, it might take a while to take her down, and she does have the second highest attack in Bakura's line-up, so she may prove to be quite a difficult foe. Melee-ranged attackers are not recommended at all for this stage, unless they have a high movement range, as Bakura will make mince meat of you with his ranged attackers. It would be best if you used ranged attackers against Bakura. If you bought any Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1, then go ahead and use it in this map, as you can hide it behind a tree or building, and it' s long reach will still be able to damage enemies. The only downside to using such a powerful monster is its high MP requirements. No matter which side you choose, it may be hard for you to reach Bakura's Symbol for a Symbol kill without running into heavy opposition. It may be easier to just kill all of his monsters, but you can tactically leave the Queen of Autumn Leaves into play and dodge her attacks and go after Bakura's Symbol. The Queen of Autumn Leaves can be purchased from Grandpa's shop later, but if you want her now, then go ahead and defeat her. Make sure you pick up Bakura' s Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O | Bakura: Ah..., I lost. But... I had a lot of fun! | | | | Yami Yugi: You were an excellent duelist, Bakura. | | | | Bakura: Really? Oh, I know you're just saying that to make me feel | | better. Ha ha ha. Keep going Yugi. I've played through the game many times and have confirmed these strategies to work flawlessly. The computer AI does not change if you follow the exact steps outlined in the guide. Make sure you read this next sub-section before you jump into the exact move sets to beat each Duelist. O=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=O | Entrance Hall |----------------------------------------------------[LRPGENH] O-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-O I started out the game inputting the name, "Keeper of the Flames!?" since I was going to pick the Fire Attribute for my Symbol. I picked the Fire Attribute for my Symbol, then I picked the Fiend pedestal with the color Onyx. I put all my Symbol points into AP, so I started out with 400 MP, 250 AP, and 160 AP. Since Fire monsters have low stamina (or bonus AP, the amount of AP you get back per round after summoning monsters), I wanted to start out with a high amount of AP to be able to summon a lot of monsters at the very start of the battle. You will be attacking second sometimes, so you'll need that extra AP boost to get your monsters out and ready. After configuring my Symbol, I then chose my monsters. The starting line-up that I picked consisted of Happy Lover, Skelengel, Skelengel, Kuriboh, Right Left of the Forbidden One, Psychic Kappa, White Dolphin, Flame Viper, Droll Bird, and Steel Scorpion. Some of these monsters I don't even use, but I had to pick out at least 10, and I only have 400 MP to work with. Before you go dueling anyone, make sure you understand how this section works. Whenever you enter into a map, press the triangle button twice to see the map overview. Always move your monsters in the direction related to the map overview, because the map overview never changes. Since the camera changes from time to time, make sure to check the map overview before making your move. If you make a wrong move, the computer AI can and might change. The starting points correspond to the map overview also. The starting locations of the monsters correspond to the starting grid locations only. Whenever you enter a map, there is a blue side, and a red side. I won't tell you which color side to go to, because whatever side you go to turns blue, but I will tell you which location it is. Now, before placing any monsters, look at your starting location in the map overview. We are only concerned with the blue grid squares. We'll label the vertical grid squares by alphabet letters and the horizontal grid squares by numbers. 1 2 3 etc. o---------------------o A | A1 | A2 | A3 | etc. | |----+----+----+------| B | B1 | B2 | B3 | etc. | |----+----+----+------| C | C1 | C2 | C3 | etc. | o---------------------o Remember that these grid squares only correspond to your starting location. The blue spaces where the game allows you to place your monsters at the start-up of a duel. Do not confuse A1 with the top most left most grid on the map overview. A1 is the top most left most grid in the blue spaces. Sometimes grid spaces will be missing and won't be highlighted blue at all. For example, look at the diagram I've drawn below. The only spaces you are allowed to place your monsters are A2, A3, B1, C1, and C3. Now, just because you aren't allowed to place your monsters in grid spaces A1, B1, B3, and C2, doesn't mean I don't count those spaces. When talking about monster placement, I find the lowest most and left most grid space and connect it into a rectangular or square shape to identify with it easier. 1 2 3 etc. o----------------o A | A2 | A3 | etc. | o----+---------+------| B | B1 | | etc. | |----| o----+------| C | C1 | | C3 | etc. | o----o o-----------o Also the move lists aren't in any specific order, they are all the moves done in that particular round. If you find that you can't move a monster (let's call him A) to the space you need, because another monster (let's call him B) is in the way, most likely you will have to move monster B, before you can move monster A. It shouldn't be hard to figure out. As for attacking, you cannot attack a monster that is hiding behind another one, so if your monster can attack three spaces ahead and there are three monsters lined up in front of it, it can only attack the first one and cannot attack the second or third monster that is behind the first one, so you don't have to worry about figuring out what monster to attack. I will mention which monster to attack if your monster has a stepping stone type attack. Obviously finishing blows go after regular attacks, that's the only order there is in this sub-guide. Your monsters will level up naturally throughout the game, so if you see me using repeat monsters, make sure to use the stronger versions. Time Wizard and Baby Dragon will be very useful when fused into the Thousand Dragon for duels near the end of the game. Of course you can fight any of these duelists you want first, second, third, fourth, and last, but there is an order to the game. If you noticed in Area 1, when you pressed up, you went to the next duelist. The same way in Area 2, if you press up on your controller you will go to the next duelist that you're supposed to duel. o-----------------o | Fusion Monsters |--------------------------------------------------[FUSNHAL] o-----------------o Just like in the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game and cartoon series, some monsters are able to join together (polymerization) to create a bigger, badder monster. These fused monsters have longer movement and attack ranges and increased stats. In order to create a Fusion Monster you have to place the required monsters in adjacent spaces to each other. Each required monster also has to be at a certain level or higher, as listed in the table below. Once you fuse a monster, the required monsters are lost (just like in polymerization), and you obtain the new, fused monster at level 1. In order to save a fused monster, you have to fuse them in Campaign or Versus Mode, as these are the only modes that let you save your game after a duel. For example, if you wanted to create a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, you would go into a map and place three Blue-Eyes White Dragon next to each other, in a line, or in a square-like shape, whatever, as long as each side panel of one required monster is touching another side panel of the other required monster. After you summon all three Blue-Eyes White Dragon, on your next turn you can select any of Blue-Eyes White Dragon and click on the "Fuse" action to fuse the monsters together. You will see an animation of the monsters fusing into a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. o------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Fused Monster | Monsters Required | Level | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon | Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Light) | Level 2 | | (Light) | Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Light) | Level 2 | | | Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Light) | Level 2 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Cyber Saurus (Thunder) | Blast Juggler (Fire) | Level 5 | | | Two-Headed King Rex (Earth) | Level 4 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Darkfire Dragon (Fire) | Firegrass (Fire) | Level 3 | | | Petit Dragon (Wind) | Level 3 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Flames Swordsman (Fire) | Flame Manipulator (Fire) | Level 4 | | | Masaki the Legendary Swordsman | Level 4 | | | (Earth) | | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Flying Penguin (Water) | Penguin Knight (Water) | Level 2 | | | Penguin Soldier (Water) | Level 2 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Gaia the Dragon Champion | Curse of Dragon (Dark) | Level 3 | | (Wind) | Gaia the Fierce Knight (Earth) | Level 3 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Gate Guardian (Dark) | Kazejin (Wind) | Level 3 | | | Sanga of the Thunder (Thunder) | Level 3 | | | Suijin (Water) | Level 3 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Harpie Lady Sisters | Harpie Lady (Wind) | Level 3 | | (Wind) | Harpie Lady (Wind) | Level 3 | | | Harpie Lady (Wind) | Level 3 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Kaminari Attack (Thunder) | Mega Thunderball (Thunder) | Level 5 | | | Ocubeam (Light) | Level 5 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Kwagar Hercules (Wood) | Hercules Beetle (Wood) | Level 3 | | | Kuwagata Alpha (Wood) | Level 3 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Metal Dragon (Wind) | Lesser Dragon (Wind) | Level 3 | | | Steel Ogre Grotto #1 (Earth) | Level 3 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Metal Zoa (Dark) | Steel Scorpion (Thunder) | Level 3 | | | Zoa (Dark) | Level 2 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Millenium Golem (Earth) | Destroyer Golem (Earth) | Level 5 | | | The Statue of Easter Island | Level 5 | | | (Earth) | | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Rabid Horseman (Earth) | Battle Ox (Earth) | Level 3 | | | Mystic Horseman (Earth) | Level 3 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Summoned Lord Exodia | Exodia the Forbidden One (Dark) | Level 2 | | (Dark) | Left Arm of the Forbidden One | Level 2 | | | (Dark) | | | | Left Leg of the Forbidden One | Level 2 | | | (Dark) | | | | Right Arm of the Forbidden One | Level 2 | | | (Dark) | | | | Right Leg of the Forbidden One | Level 2 | | | (Dark) | | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Thousand Dragon (Wind) | Baby Dragon (Wind) | Level 5 | | | Time Wizard (Light) | Level 3 | |---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------| | Twin-Headed Thunder | Thunder Dragon (Thunder) | Level 4 | | Dragon (Thunder) | Thunder Dragon (Thunder) | Level 4 | o---------------------------+----------------------------------+---------o o--------------------o | Evolution Monsters |-----------------------------------------------[EVLCMPL] o--------------------o Not all monsters can be fused together, but some monsters can evolve and become a bigger, badder version of itself. In order to evolve monsters you have to meet certain requirements, either reaching a certain level, or reaching a certain level and placing your monster on a grid space with the required amount of Attribute points. For example, if you wanted to evolve Petit Angel into Shining Friendship, all you have to do is level up Petit Angel to level 5. However, if you wanted to evolve LaMoon into Magician's Valkyrie, you have to level up LaMoon to level 4, and then place your level 4 LaMoon onto a grid space that has 40 Light Attribute points. o------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Evolved Monster | Monster Required | Level / Attribute | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Electric Snake (Thunder) | Electric Lizard | Level 6 | | | (Thunder) | | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Fireyarou (Fire) | Flame Manipulator | Level 3 | | | (Fire) | | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Great Moth (Wood) | Larvae Moth (Wood) | Level 3 / 30 Wood | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | High Tide Gyojin (Water) | Root Water (Water) | Level 6 / 50 Water | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Hunter Spider (Wood) | Kumootoko (Wood) | Level 4 | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Hyosube (Water) | Psychic Kappa | Level 6 / 50 Water | | | (Water) | | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Larvae Moth (Wood) | Petit Moth (Wood) | Level 3 / 30 Wood | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Magician of Black Chaos | Dark Magician | Level 4 / 40 Dark | | (Dark) | (Dark) | | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Magician's Valkyrie (Light) | LaMoon (Light) | Level 4 / 50 Light | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Manga Ryu-Ran (Fire) | Ryu-Ran (Fire) | Level 2 | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Mon Larvas (Earth) | Larvas (Earth) | Level 4 | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Penguin Knight (Water) | Penguin Soldier | Level 3 / 40 Water | | | (Water) | | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Perfectly Ultimate Great | Great Moth (Wood) | Level 3 / 40 Wood | | Moth (Wood) | | | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon | Red-Eyes Black | Level 4 / 40 Dark | | (Dark) | Dragon (Dark) | | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Ryu-Kishin Powered (Dark) | Ryu-Kishin Dark) | Level 5 | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Shining Friendship (Light) | Petit Angel (Light) | Level 5 | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Stone Ghost (Earth) | Haniwa (Earth) | Level 5 / 40 Earth | |-----------------------------+---------------------+--------------------| | Trent (Wood) | Ancient Tree of | Level 3 / 50 Wood | | | Enlightenment | | | | (Wood) | | o------------------------------------------------------------------------o O=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-O | Monster Bestiary |-------------------------------------------------[MNSRBST] O-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=O Here is an alphabetical list of all the monster's technical information: o------------------------------------------------------------------------o | Baby Dragon -
