Credits ======================== History Jericho entered the WWF in 1999. Viginettes appeared on WWF television, featuring a "millenium" clock, which was counting down to something then unknown. It counted down to the debut of Jericho, which was right in the middle of an interview of The Rock. Jericho claimed he was there to save the WWF. In his first WWF match, he went against the Road Dogg, and was DQed, when he put Road Dogg through a table, injuring Road Dogg. Jericho then got ring announcer Howard Finkel as his lackey, and entered a feud with Ken Shamrock. During the feud, he dropped Finkel, and gained the services of a big guy named Curtis Hughes. During a First Blood Match with Shamrock, he injured him after a moonsault, wearing hockey gear, forcing Shamrock off of WWF TV. Shamrock hasn't been seen on WWF TV since. Meanwhile, Chyna had beaten Jeff Jarrett for the Intercontinental Title, and offered a challenge to anyone who thought they could take the title away. Jericho answered the challenge, and the two went at it at Survivor Series. Chyna won the match, and the next night, Jericho had her tied up backstage, and destroyed her thumb with a hammer. Despite Chyna's thumb, the two went at it again at Armageddon. Jericho walked out the winner, using the Walls of Jericho. Chyna challenged him again, and both pinned each other. The next week, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley declared them co-champions. If one lost, they would both lose the belt, and only one could defend it at a time. At Royal Rumble, both Jericho and Chyna went against Hardcore Holly in a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental belt, and Jericho walked out the winner, by pinning Chyna. After Royal Rumble, Jericho and Chyna formed an alliance, and started feuding with Kurt Angle, who was the European Champion at the time. Kurt Angle challenged Jericho to an Intercontinental Championship Match at No Way Out. Jericho lost when Angle hit him with the Intercontinental belt. The two continued to feud, and WWF newcomer Chris Benoit entered himself into the feud. The 3 went at it in a 2 Falls Triple Threat Match for both of Angle's championships at Wrestlemania. Jericho was pinned by Benoit in the first round, meaning Benoit won the Intercontinental Championship. In the second round, Jericho pinned Benoit, meaning Jericho was the new Intercontinental Champion. The next night, Chyna turned on him, costing him the newly won European Championship to Eddie Guerrero. Jericho started to talk trash about Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, which got him into a feud with her husband, then WWF Champion, Triple H. On one edition of Raw Is War, they were to go at it in a non-title match, but Jericho convinced him to put the title on the line. Jericho won when he gave HHH the Lionsault, and the referee, Earl Hebner, who had problems with HHH, did a fast count. HHH, using his power, forced Earl to change the decision, and have it striken from the record books. HHH was now the champion once again. Jericho got into a feud with Chris Benoit, and they fought at Backlash for the Intercontinental Championship. Jericho lost by DQ, when he hit Benoit with the Intercontinental Championship Belt, as Benoit was attempting a Flying Headbutt. Jericho won the Intercontinental belt on an edition of SmackDown!. On the following Raw, Jericho lost the belt, after facing 3 different opponents. He defeated Kurt Angle and Big Show, but lost to Benoit, with HHH as the referee. He faced Chris Benoit at Judgement Day in a Submission Match, and lost when Benoit locked on the Crippler Crossface, knocking out Jericho. Jericho went to the King of the Ring, and lost to Kurt Angle, when Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley ran down, distracting him. Jericho gave her a big kiss, and Kurt gave him the Olympic Slam from behind. Jericho faced her husband, Triple H, in a Last Man Standing Match at Fully Loaded. Jericho lost to Triple H, and afterwards, he re-started his feud with Chris Benoit. The two went at it in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match. Benoit won the first fall, Jericho won the second, and Benoit won the third. Benoit was declared the winner of the match. Jericho got into a feud with X-Pac, who would beat him down with nunchucks a number of times. The two went at it at Unforgiven, and Jericho won the match. X-Pac attacked him after the match. They went at it again in a Cage Match at No Mercy, and Jericho won the match. Afterwards, Jericho ended up in a feud with Kane, after accidently spilling coffee on Kane. They fought at Survivor Series, and Kane won. They fought again at Armageddon in a Last Man Standing Match. Jericho won when he dropped a pile of barrels onto Kane, preventing him from getting up before the 10 count. Jericho restarted his feud with Benoit, and the two went at it at Royal Rumble, for the Intercontinental Championship, in a Ladder Match. Jericho won the match. On an edition of Raw, when Jericho was defending the title against Eddie Guerrero, X-Pac, who hadn't been seen since the No Mercy Cage Match, ran in and attacked Jericho, giving him the win by DQ. At No Way Out, X-Pac, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, and Jericho faced each other for the Intercontinental Championship, in a Fatal 4 Way Match. Jericho surprisingly won the match, by pinning X-Pac. Jericho started a feud with the WWF Commissioner, William Regal. They went at it at Wrestlemania for the Intercontinental Championship. Jericho won the match. On an edition of SmackDown!, Jericho lost the Intercontinental Title to Triple H. Jericho went to Backlash against William Regal in a "Duchess of Queensbury" Match, where whenever it looked like Jericho would get the win, a new rule would be made up, screwing him. Regal won the match after hitting Jericho with a steel chair. The feud finally ended in a Cage Match on an edition of Raw Is War. Jericho walked out the winner. Jericho started having problems with Edge and Christian. They were entered in a Tag Team Turmoil Match, with the winning team becoming the No. 1 Contenders for the Tag Team Championship. Jericho entered the match with Chris Benoit as his partner, and the two won, becoming the No. 1 contenders for the Tag Team Championship. On the following Raw, they faced the Tag Team Champions, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H. They won the match, after Triple H (who tore his left quadricep, but finished the match), inadvertantly hit Austin with a sledgehammer. On the following edition of SmackDown!, they faced The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz, and Edge and Christian in a TLC Match, and won. The next week, both Jericho and Benoit requested a WWF Title shot, and Vince put them both in matches, to see who would get the shot. Jericho was put against the Hardcore Champion, The Big Show. Jericho won the match, and the Hardcore Title, but moments later, Rhyno attacked Jericho, and using the 24/7 rule, won the Hardcore Title. Benoit, after a match with Rhyno, got the title shot. After being screwed out of the title, both Benoit and Jericho attacked Stone Cold and Vince McMahon. After they lost the titles to The Dudley Boyz on an edition of SmackDown!, Jericho and Benoit faced Austin in a Triple Threat Match for the WWF Championship at King of the Ring. Jericho lost, when Austin pinned Benoit. Around this time, Shane McMahon had bought WCW, and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley bought ECW, and both joined forces to put the WWF out of business. At the PPV Invasion, Team WCW/ECW, made up of Booker T, Diamond Dallas Page, The Dudley Boyz, and Rhyno, fought Team WWF, made up of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, The Undertaker, Kane, and Jericho. Team WWF lost when Stone Cold Steve Austin joined WCW/ECW. At SummerSlam, Chris Jericho fought Rhyno, and in a repeat of King of the Ring 2000, Jericho kissed Stephanie when she interfered. Jericho won the match, but the threat of the Alliance continued. Jericho faced the Hardcore Champion, Alliance member Rob Van Dam, at Unforgiven. RVD won the match, and retained his title. Jericho started having problems with fellow WWF member The Rock, who was also the WCW Champion. The two fought at No Mercy, and Jericho won after using a steel chair. The Rock would imply that Jericho couldn't beat The Rock without weapons, and they fought again on an edition of Raw. The Rock won the match. At Survivor Series, Jericho was part of Team WWF, in a match which would determine who would stay in business, along with The Rock, The Undertaker, Kane, and The Big Show, against Team Alliance, which consisted of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, and Shane McMahon. Jericho was eliminated from the match, and then attacked The Rock. Despite the attack, Team WWF won the match. At Vengence, to unify the WWF Championship and the World Championship (formerly the WCW Championship), Stone Cold Steve Austin faced Kurt Angle for the WWF Championship, The Rock faced Jericho for the World Championship, and the winners would face each other for the Undisputed Championship. Jericho beat The Rock, due to interference from Vince McMahon, and then defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin after interference from Booker T, to become the Undisputed WWF Champion. Jericho continued having problems with The Rock, and they went at it at Royal Rumble for the Undisputed WWF Championship. Jericho won after using the ropes for leverage while pinning The Rock.
