Introduction =============================================================================== Ruby is an interesting character because by playing Ruby’s Quest, you will go through all Seven Wonders. Ruby is one of the easier quests but there are ways in which you can make the game unbeatable. Avoid this by reading through and taking the recommendations in this guide. =============================================================================== III. Using this Guide =============================================================================== Through out this guide you will notice crudely drawn maps. The maps aren’t completely accurate but they do show the direction in which you are supposed to go. Occasionally the map will have special symbols and those will be explained in those Sections. Map Key ======= +---+ | | = A box like this represents a space on the map +---+ * = this represents a direction that you can go or a special path. ------ = A line represents a path. The line can also go up, down or diagonally and is connected by a * (Lines are sometimes replaced with other symbols) ? = This replaces a line on paths that require you to go through a locked door. # = This replaces a line on paths that require you to use the Obstacle Crossing skill W = This replaces a line on paths that require you to use the Swimming skill There are others but they don’t appear in all quests, therefore they are only mentioned when they are needed. One other thing that you may notice on some maps is a line or box may have a letter in it like A. Normally this means that if you exit from A or warp from A, you will end up at the other A. Here is an example of that below: +---+ A---+ | +---* +---+ W | 1 | W +---* *---+ ? | 2 | ? +---+ *---+ | *----A +---+ This means that if you started at square number 1 you would need the Locksmith skill to get to the next square which goes to the A. The two A’s are connected so that means you can get to that section where you would then need the Swimming skill to get to square number 2. Situations like this sometimes Occur on the same level but is usually marked to represent where a stairway ends up. Reading the Adventure Data =========================== At the beginning of each adventure I will tell you the name of the adventure, Info provided by the game and the number of turns. After that is a short description or text explaining what to do for a particular section. Finally below that is the map information telling you the location, condition and monster types that reside in the area. Although a particular adventure may have many types of monsters, not all of the monsters appear in the same area. The condition is the general weather or atmosphere associated with an area. You can check this at any time in the adventure screen by selecting skill and then press the X Button. Conditions in a level can affect the rate at which you learn magic. For example, if you are standing in water then you won’t learn a fire spell as quickly. The same holds true for the type of area as well. If you are in the Jade Forest, the wood type spells increase quickly. Here is an example of what a typical adventure looks like: ***************************** Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty... ***************************** In order to fulfill her fortunetelling, Ruby searches for the cat. Recommended Skills: Swimming | Obstacle Crossing | Cave Guide ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of Turns | Unlimited ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is where the text for that section of the map goes. If there is no text needed meaning that you just must get from Point A to Point B, then you will just see a description of the map. She gets caught up with her sister’s problems, and meets a mysterious man named Iskandar. Whether or not she’s in trouble, she always gets by by saying “Everything will be all right!” Ruby Designer’s Note ====================== She may be easygoing, but her adventure is not. Players who are confident with strategy and character development should select her. Let’s conquer all Seven Wonders! Loch Vaan, Lakeside City ============================= The game conveniently enough begins in the Palace of Divination where Ruby and her assistant Hiro had a guest from the Knighthood requesting to have his fortune told. Meanwhile Sapphire is in the Divination Room but faints upon seeing the fortune. She has seen “Death”. After that Sapphire began to act weird according to Ruby and the only thing to do was to take matters into her own hands. Ruby decides that she will do the fortunetelling and provide people with fake fortunes to make some quick cash. On her final fortune of the day Ruby tells a lady that he cat will return home safely. Is she really going to find that cat? It looks that way because you will now find yourself in the underground well with Hiro. ======================== Hiro’s Initial Stats ======================== Ability / Elemental Level Ability / Elemental Making ------------------------------- ------------------------------- | Strength | 7 | Fire | 7 | | Strength | 4 | Fire | 2 | ------------------------------- ------------------------------- | Skill | 7 | Earth | 7 | | Skill | 3 | Earth | 3 | ------------------------------- ------------------------------- | Spirit | 6 | Metal | 5 | | Spirit | 3 | Metal | 1 | ------------------------------- ------------------------------- | Magic | 1 | Water | 9 | | Magic | 1 | Water | 3 | ------------------------------- ------------------------------- | Endurance | 8 | Wood | 2 | | Endurance | 4 | Wood | 1 | ------------------------------- ------------------------------- | | | HP 146 / 146 | | LP 14 / 14 | | HP recovery D | ------------------------------- Growth Panel /\ /\ / \ / \ / \ / \ | | | | | Aura L1 | | | | | | | \ / \ / /\ \ / /\ \ / /\ / \ \/ / \ \/ / \ / \ / \ / \ | | | | | | |Road Guide| |Inconspic-| | Bow Arts | | L1 | | uous L1 | | L1 | \ / \ / \ / \ / /\ \ / /\ \ / \/ / \ \/ / \ \/ / \ / \ | | | | | | |Diplomacy | | | | L1 | \ / \ / \ / \ / \/ \/ ***************************** Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty... ***************************** In order to fulfill her fortunetelling, Ruby searches for the cat. Recommended Skills: Swimming | Obstacle Crossing | Cave Guide ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of Turns | Unlimited ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a very short and easy adventure, but unfortunately you can’t make the most of it just yet because you none of the recommended skills. The first thing that you must do is to find the “Rusty Key” which will be one step to the east of where you start. Move your character around the map by using either the right or left Analog. Pick up the “Rusty Key” by first moving to Skill and press the X button, use the D-pad to move right onto the key and then select Action and press the X button to pick it up. This is how all you pick up items, open treasure chests and start a fight with monsters. Next you must go to the rusted door indicated by the question marks. Once you reach the door you will hear the sound of a cat. It must be the cat that you’re looking for. The door is locked but you can unlock it by using the “Rusty Key”. To use the Rusty Key, select Skill and press the X button, use the D-pad to move onto the Locked Door, Use the D-pad to go down the list of items or use R2 to go down a page and L2 to go up a page until you get to the Rusty Key, press the X Button and you should see the ability Locksmith lit up, and finally press the X button to use Locksmith on the door. The reel will begin to spin and to successfully unlock the door you must land on a green circle. This is how you use skills and items throughout the game. Skills that can be used on an object will always be lit up with the exception of one Adventure. After using the key it breaks. Doesn’t matter because the door is open and you can now get the cat. Once you get inside the room the cat runs away. Before you leave though a monster jumps out of the shadows. You now have two choices: *Run away! *Say your prayers! There were hardly any monsters in the well anyway so choose the second choice to start the battle. Name | LP | Attacks =============================================================================== Skull Crawler | 1 | Flying Armlock | Shuriken Strategy ========= This is an easy battle because you should have all or close to all of your Life Points. Just attack with melee attacks to conserve your weapons. If you earned the ability Warning Shot for Hiro’s bow, use that to try and spark a technique. After the Skull Crawler is defeated the adventure ends. ******Special Note******* You can leave this adventure by using the ladder. Enter and exit a couple of times to fight until you have unlocked an ability or two. When you have enough fighting experience, finish the adventure. To the Caves of the Undead ============================== After the success of the last adventure, Ruby is confident that she can do it again. Hiro disagrees but Ruby goes on with it any ways. Soon enough a man that is looking for a dagger wonders into the shop. She tells him that it is in the Cave of the Undead. Ruby quickly gets a dagger that she plans to place at the Sparkling Waterfall in the Cave of the Undead. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of Turns | Unlimited ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This adventure is simple; all you need to do is place the dagger at the foot of the Sparkling Waterfall so that the mysterious stranger finds it. If you look at the map you will notice that there are a few treasure chests to find and a Spirit bow which can come in handy. This is a short adventure so take care of all of the enemies in the cave and fight the Undead all four times before proceeding to the Sparkling Waterfall. You have unlimited turns so heal after every battle. In the cave you may come up upon a group of Undead. There are two ways to get by them. The first is the preferred way if you are looking to get better panels at the end of the adventure and the second is the easy way. The first way is easy. Select the group of undead and attack them and defeat four groups of them numbering seven of various undead creatures. Name | LP | Attacks =============================================================================== Skeleton | 1 | Slash | Skull Boomerang | Whirl Slash Hermit Eye | 1 | Slingball Pinhut | 1 | Double Hammer | Beat Up | Sonic Voice The second way is to go to the corridor with a collapsible wall marked “wall” on the map and break it allowing sunlight to show through to where the group of undead are. After that they will be gone. When you finally reach the Sparkling Waterfall, Ruby will place the dagger. Just as she does a Skull Crawler will jump out of the shadows to attack. Fortunately the stranger that came into the shop is there to help you fight. Let the stranger fight the battle alone. After the battle is over, the stranger takes the dagger and leaves. After he leaves Sapphire tells Ruby that she is going on a trip with that man called Iskandar. Ruby decides that she won’t be left behind leaves with her sister and Iskandar. Hiro is left behind. After leaving the shop you find yourself on the highroad heading to Zomar. Once you take one step, Hiro comes up from behind and says he’s going too. The Seven Wonders ============================== After the long journey to Torle, you ask Iskandar what the heck he was thinking bringing you all the way out there. Torle is the home town of the wizard Leith Torles. After Ruby is finished complaining enter the “Birthplace of Leith Torles.” A woman answers and seems to know a lot about both Ruby and Sapphire. It was supposed to be a fortune about Sapphire but the woman keeps talking about Ruby. After the session, go on one side quest and then return (You must complete the side quest). When you return Iskandar will ask you if you have understood the Old Lady’s riddle and when you say you are clueless he will then say that you are not there to answer riddles. He first asks Sapphire if she is ready to face the things that concern her fate. She says yes and then Iskandar asks you which of the Seven Wonders you would like to do first. He only gives you six and tells you that you can’t do the Hanging Gardens yet because it is difficult to get to. After selecting one of the Seven Wonders, you will be warped to the town that the Seven Wonders adventure originates. You can enter the Seven Wonders adventure by going to the inn and selecting it from the adventure menu. Once you have selected, you must complete it before Iskandar will let you choose another. Return to the birthplace of Leith Torles each time to select one of the Seven Wonders. You can do the Seven Wonders in any order but I suggest starting out with the Flying Island and ending with Deities’ Table since you don’t get a new character in that one. When you decide to Visit the Flying Island don’t miss out on the Festival of Regina Leone taking place in Iskandar Plaza. ************ Tetra Forces ************ Throughout each of the Seven Wonders you will come upon something known as the Tetra Force. Normally these are reserved for the last adventure but Ruby’s quest is special. Use the Tetra Force to develop your panel. You aren’t restricted from using it the first time but to use it again your life must be low. This is great because while you are in the Seven Wonders you can stay as long as possible while increasing your abilities and monster rank. The only exception is Nakle Lines. Also make sure that you create a safe Save File outside the dungeon otherwise you may become stuck. Events that happen at as you take on the Seven Wonders ====================================================== #1 As soon as you arrive at the first of your Seven Wonders, Basil Galeos knocks you down and is being pursued closely by Jeanne Maure. After completing the first one Ruby will wonder if that was it and wonder about the object that she found. Jeanne Maure appears and thanks you for preventing Basil Galeos from seizing the power of the Seven Wonders. Ruby doesn’t like the thing that she found and gives it to Jeanne Maure. Ruby thinks that Iskandar is pretending to be the real Iskandar but he says to her that she should’ve kept the tetra Force because she is going to need it to enter the Hanging Garden. After that you arrive in Torle again ready to pick the second of the Seven Wonders. #2 As you arrive at the second of the Seven Wonders, Kalandorn and Dagul Bos are arguing and then take off. After that you see Clyde and Yun arguing and they take off. Finally Lord Burgundy shows up and says that the knights must take control. Ruby thinks it’s crazy. After completing the second of the Seven Wonders, Ruby decides to hold onto the Tetra Force. Meanwhile, Jeanne Maure is watching closely. #3 Nothing of Interest happens when you reach the third of the Seven Wonders. After clearing the third of the Seven Wonders, Jeanne asks Ruby if she can have the Tetra Force that she just found, but Ruby tells her that she needs it. She gives it up anyway and says that the next ones hers. When you arrive at the house the lady will be there again. She talks to them some more and seems to predict the two sisters perfectly. #4 Nothing of Interest happens when you reach the fourth of the Seven Wonders. After clearing the fourth of the Seven Wonders, Jeanne Maure just takes the Tetra Force for herself. Ruby senses that something has changed within her. #5 Nothing of Interest happens when you reach the fourth of the Seven Wonders. After completing the fifth of the Seven Wonders, Ruby takes the Tetra Force and Jeanne is just stuck cursing under her breath. There is only one more to go before the finally. #6 Nothing of Interest happens when you reach the fourth of the Seven Wonders. After completing the sixth of the Seven Wonders, Ruby refuses to let Jeanne have the Tetra Force. Jeanne says her mission is to save the world and that Ruby is an instrument of evil. Ruby says she will get mad and Jeanne says no one can stop her now. Ruby gets knocked out and a scene with Alyce Ambrosia and Iskandar follows. It’s Ruby’s dream and she doesn’t understand why she is called Alyce. Another dream follows with Leith Torles and Iskandar. In the dreams, Iskandar’s appearance changes every time. Ruby wakes to find Hiro. Return to the birthplace of Leith Torles and you will be greeted by the old woman again. After speaking to the woman Iskandar requests a reading about the Hanging Garden. Ruby and Sapphire come up with different readings, but whose is correct. Go to an Inn and take on the last of the Seven Wonders. ******************************* Undercity Pharos ******************************* Set out for Undercity Pharos, one of the Seven Wonders! After they are defeated press the button again to see something move and return to the third floor. If the shadow was moving down it will stop on floor 1. Go to each one of them and press the button on each to fully distribute the energy for the Delta Area and the Beta Area. Now that the energy is distributed here, hit the button at Barrier Control. Pressing this button will disarm the lower barriers and arm the ones on this floor. Your only option is to return to staircase B and then return to the first floor. When you emerge from staircase A, use the newly opened barriers to reach the two Energy System switches for the Gamma and Alpha areas and press their buttons. With all of the energy distributed, the barriers throughout the fortress can be disarmed. Press the button on the Awkward Device on this floor to lower all of the barriers and then use staircase D to get back to the third floor if the elevator went up initially or just get to the elevator on this floor if the elevator went down initially. Make your way to the elevator and ride it down to the middle floor. Use the Tetra Force and then prepare for the boss. You can only use the Tetra Force when your life force is low. If you are still too weak, just wonder around the Fortress and fight monsters. Go to where the boss is and press the button. A stone door prevents you from getting in but it is no problem because all that you have to do is examine it. Once you are inside of the Chamber of Planets, you will be attacked by an Arcwinger. Name | LP | Attacks ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arcwinger | 6 | Deathcry | Wingsword | Toxin | Storm Strategy ======== Equipment with Parry, Deflect, or Block is great because they can nullify 2 of its attacks. The best thing is to go for combos at the start of the battle because he doesn’t normally use Storm. If you haven’t defeated him that quickly and he starts to use Storm, stick to your most powerful single attacks to take him down. If you are having trouble with him and he takes a lot of life points from you then I suggest you leave and get stronger before taking on this adventure. After defeating the Arcwinger, a constellation board with fourteen stars and the Polar Star is enshrined. Examine the board and you will see a constellation appear on the dome. Next head to the stairs and climb down to Constellation Planes #1. In the first constellation planes you will see a line of light connecting the stars. If you don’t see it, then that means that you haven’t touched the constellation board. Follow the line, not going off the path until you have reached the stairway which will now be accessible. Occasionally you will see a shooting star. The first sighting is by moving onto 2 stars off of the path and using at least 3 turns, The second sighting is after you’ve moved onto 5 stars not on the path and the meteor falls when you have walked on at least two stars not on the path and used 3 turns. If you run to a safe star on the final meteor you will be attacked anyways so don’t let two shooting stars fall unless of course you want to be attacked. If one drops right down on you, you will be attacked by a group of monsters numbering three to Six. They can be good because groups of monsters like these drop Magic Tablets. The woods are divided into two parts. You must again make your way into the Chamber of the Planets and fight an Arcwinger to reach the end of the Starship Anchor. A Meteorite Amulet is lying on the ground in a room next to the entrance of the chamber. This piece of equipment is especially useful if you are playing Armic’s quest. After defeating the Arcwinger, touch the Constellation board like last time to reveal the path and then go down the stairs. Follow the light of the constellation and when it is complete, examine the Milky Way. It will ask if you want to cross the Milky Way, say Yes. If you see broken shards come at you then a reel will follow. Land on one of the green circles and it goes away. First you should follow the map to the Northeast Area and then follow the path. On your way around the island you must pull three levers to be able to raise the elevator from the gap. In the Southwest area you will notice that there is a Tetra Force. Use the Tetra Force to develop your panel and then go after the boss which is located at the bottom of the elevator. If you feel like you need to get a bit stronger, just keep doing laps around the Island fighting as much as possible. I suggest fighting here a lot until you are really strong that way when you take on the rest of the Seven Wonders they will be quite easy. Once you feel that you are ready, go down the elevator where you will be attacked immediately by a Blue Dragon. ******** Boss ******** Name | LP | Attacks =============================================================================== Blue Dragon | 8 | Chomp | Dragon’s Roar | Dragonbreath | Tail Lash Strategy ========= This is a battle to spark new techniques. Having a weapon that deflects attacks can be helpful but it won’t do that well versus this guy. Just go for combos by starting out with magic and then use attacks that haven’t sparked anything in the hopes that they will. Three of his four attacks hit all of your party members so keep this in mind. His most devastating attack is Dragonbreath which is a lightning attack but the Blue Dragon rarely uses it. After Jeanne is defeated you are transported to the Blue Moon where you must defeat Chaos to finish the game. <<<<<<<<<<<<<< Chaos >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Name | LP | Attacks =============================================================================== Chaos (1st form) | 22 | Cursed Blade | Sword Dance | Breath of Chaos (2nd form) | 16 | Thunderbringer | Chaos Wave | Bubbleblow (3rd form) | 11 | Weakness | Ophion | Fire Arrows (4th form) | 20 | Degeneration | Psycho Noise | Blaster | Ice Needles | Suppression | Raven Blade | Neutron Slap | Overkill |*Hundred Flowers =============================================================================== Voice Quotes ============ Ruby “I don’t need your kind of power, take a hike will ya.” Hiro “Nooo, I knew I shouldn’t have followed Ruby.” Iskandar “Only humans have the power to change the world.” Sapphire “Is it the end of everything, ???” Roy “How’d I get caught up in this mess?” Anzan “I will stand my ground.” Kong Ming “I’ll hit you with every technique I know.” Strategy ========== The best thing to do is to use single power techniques for the first three forms. As soon as his Life Points start going down, use bows, spears, or daggers. Whoever has the highest skill should be using these weapons. Whenever one of your damage users gets injured a bit, pull them from the battle and then use someone with Purify to heal that person while they are off screen. The second and third forms lose Life Points Quickly and Chaos will begin to use Raven Blade on the third form. Once you get to the fourth and final form, Use a three person team maximum and try not to lose more than one person at once. He will use Overkill Occasionally so be aware of your party’s Life Points. Also on the fourth form, don’t go for combos otherwise Chaos will get a lot of attacks in a row resulting in some serious damage. Once he begins to lose Life Points on the final form, just keep hitting him with LP draining techniques and swap out characters carefully until he is finished. Congratulations you have beaten Ruby’s Quest!!!! =============================================================================== V.
