Introduction =============================================================================== Kurt is not that hard of a quest but the beginning can be a pain, especially if this is your first character. Different characters have different ways of advancing the story and in Kurt’s case it is side quests. Every time you complete five side quests a new event happens and more towns are opened up to you. This guide will not detail the side quests so it may be a bit short. I will be doing a side quest guide later on though. =============================================================================== III. Using this Guide =============================================================================== Through out this guide you will notice crudely drawn maps. The maps aren’t completely accurate but they do show the direction in which you are supposed to go. Occasionally the map will have special symbols and those will be explained in those Sections. Reading the Adventure Data =========================== At the beginning of each adventure I will tell you the name of the adventure, Info provided by the game and the number of turns. After that is a short description or text explaining what to do for a particular section. Finally below that is the map information telling you the location, condition and monster types that reside in the area. Although a particular adventure may have many types of monsters, not all of the monsters appear in the same area. The condition is the general weather or atmosphere associated with an area. You can check this at any time in the adventure screen by selecting skill and then press the X Button. Conditions in a level can affect the rate at which you learn magic. For example, if you are standing in water then you won’t learn a fire spell as quickly. The same holds true for the type of area as well. If you are in the Jade Forest, the wood type spells increase quickly. The Gauntlet’s Curse ============================= The game begins eerily enough with Kurt staring death in the face. He is in a battle inside of his own head. The power of the Gauntlet. The opponent is some sort of insect creature, or is it undead? While Fighting in the gauntlet time seems to stand still and the only person aware that a battle has taken place is you. At the Conclusion of your first fight against Scorpion, you end up in the town of Gadeira where your house is. Kurt visits his father who asks if he is going to take over the Gadeira Knighthood. Kurt responds by saying that he is no longer a knight and angers his father who disowns him. When he leaves he meets his brother Leon who inquires about the gauntlet on Kurt’s arm. Below are the levels of the gauntlet and the monsters that you must fight. Even though the Gauntlet is a negative, you can make it a positive by defeating all of the creatures within. As you defeat more monsters in the gauntlet the power of the gauntlet increases in level. The highest is level 5. The gauntlet doesn’t pull you into battle by the number of turns but rather the amount of real time you have spent. You will be pulled into the gauntlet about every 20 minutes of game time. If you pass the time limit while you are in a town or looking in a menu then you will be pulled into battle the second you return to the adventure map. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Level 1 Gauntlet <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Name | LP | Attacks =============================================================================== Scorpion | 2 | Shuriken | X-Termination Strategy ======== Scorpion is simple. It is very difficult to die against this one. Just use melee attacks and don’t combo. If you’re lucky then you may spark a new technique before he dies. Use melee attacks once again. If you have beaten at least one adventure then you should be strong enough to beat Zorus. Each of the piercing attacks will inflict 1 to 2 life points and sometimes 3. If you were taking 200 – 300 Hp using Deadly Palm or another technique then you will be able to take life points fairly easily. After defeating Agares, you hear a voice say “Come, come to Starship Anchor.” Even though you can proceed to the final boss, which is not the end of the gauntlet battles. The boy doesn’t want to pay and Kurt thinks it’s sickening that the knights are doing this. The young boy decides to take the mountain path and Kurt volunteers to be his guard. Road Guide can find hidden treasure chests and bags on the ground. While you are on the Sevenfold Tail you will only find bags which have minor traps like poison and needles. The second half of your adventure is on the highroad in a cave and in the forest. You will find treasure chests that may have mimic traps. If you trigger a mimic trap you will be forced to fight a Treasure Slime. Treasure Slimes are a good way of getting magic tablets but you won’t need them after this adventure. Make sure that you fight everything on the maps and don’t start using your weapons until the second half of the adventure. The more that you fight, the better panels you will receive at the end of the adventure. I cut it close by fighting everything and Ventus and Kurt each had 1 Life Point left. You may not want to cut it that close, but I did get all level 3 panels at the end. After the adventure you will arrive in the village of Solophero. The Vale of Swords ============================= You arrive in the village of Solophero and now you must begin your side quest journey. Although you have a couple to choose from, I suggest doing the Vale of Swords because after you complete it you will start getting new characters. You can do this one later if you like but then the enemies will be insanely hard for just one person to handle since you must cross the Vale with only two people. This is also a story based adventure so you should get it out of the way. If this is your first time playing, you’re going to get frustrated fast. My advice is to follow the map and burn through this place as fast as possible without stopping to get anything and only to heal. Once this adventure is over Kurt’s scenario gets a whole lot easier. *********************** Vale of Swords *********************** Between Serin and Solophero lies the Vale of Swords. Many travelers have lost their lives here. Recommended Skills: Road Guide | Obstacle Crossing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of turns | Unlimited ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When approaching the Vale of Swords from Solophero, use the bridge to get across the gap. As soon as you step on the bridge, you will be attacked by Shroomers. After the battle is over the bridge will collapse and your team will be separated. If you are wondering how it separates your team, it does it in order and divides the team evenly. If you have 4 people then the characters in position 1 and 2 will make it across and positions 3 and 4 will get left behind. If you had 5 characters then 1,2 and 3 make it while 4 and 5 are left behind. Organize your team before stepping on the bridge. Use team number 1 and have them go to the other side of the rope bridge marked 1 on the map. After that you will now have control of team number 2. Team number 2 starts on the opposite side of the bridge. Move them over to point 2 and try to cross using the rope. Once they try to cross, the rope will break dropping them to the bottom of the Vale. Now that you are on the bottom of the Vale, you must climb back up. Find the way back up to the middle of the Vale and from there get to the top. Meanwhile, the team at the top needs to get the vines and position themselves on point 3 of the map. Once you make it to point 3 then that team won’t be used until the other team makes it to the vine to climb up. This is very tough with just Ventus and Kurt so don’t dawdle. Just find the quickest route to finish this adventure. On the other side of the Vale you will arrive in the village of Serin. If either Kurt or Ventus dies, the game’s over. I recommend placing Ventus in the lead position. Recommended Skills: Cave Guide ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of turns | Unlimited ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you get inside of the cave a knight is at the entrance asking if you are part of Armand’s group. Kurt says no and then scolds the knight. You must enter the cave and rescue Armand from the monsters. You will see Sturdy Walls throughout the cave but don’t worry because you can’t do anything with them in this adventure. Take the northern stairs down to B2(B) and then proceed to the stairs leading down to B3. If you have the Obstacle Crossing ability then you can get there much faster. When you finally reach B3, the path is straight forward and when you reach the end. Rest at the final spot and Mordeus will say “I this is enough.” signaling the end of the adventure. If you visit Kimbali you can get another character. ************************ Waiting for the Shrine ************************ When you enter Kimbali Kurt will visit his friend Edel who is living there. Edel is also an Outland Knight like Kurt used to be and thinks that his time is almost up. When you leave Edel’s house a shrine knight is talking to the village chief. The shrine knights will guard the village. Edel suggests guarding the main gate but the shrine knight is too proud to accept the advice. Depending on the level of your party the monster will be different. After defeating the monster you will see a map of the town. The red dots on the map indicate where the monsters are. You don’t need to memorize where the monsters are because you can use Edel’s eavesdrop skill whenever you want. The object is to clear out the town one section at a time and then defeat the monsters at the entrance. After that is accomplished the adventure is over. What makes this adventure frustrating for some players is that a section of the town never seems to clear out. This is because monsters are constantly entering through the main gate. District #1 (Industrial) =========================== For the first district it’s best to stay in the center and wait for the monsters to come to you. If it doesn’t clear up after a couple of fights, go to the main entrance and defeat the group of monsters there. After they are defeated, go back to central plaza of section 1 and defeat the monsters to clear out the area. Once the area is clear no more monsters will be able to attack section 1 from the main gate. Head to the 2nd district. District #2 (Residential) =========================== The 2nd district is just like the first. Wait in the central Plaza and take out the monsters that go there. Once there are only a few stragglers go after them and then return to the central plaza of the district. When all of the monsters are defeated Kurt will say that the district is clear and then you can move onto the third. District #3 (Business) =========================== The strategy in the final district is to be aggressive and go after the monsters. Don’t forget that there is still one path to get back to the other areas and the monsters will try to sneak by you. Kill all of the monsters in the outskirts of the district and then wait in the center of the district and defeat any monsters that come your way. After Kurt sys that it is clear, go to the main gate and defeat the group of monsters there to finish the adventure. After the scene is over you will notice that you now have access to Torle and Vaftom. ******************************* Lord Burgundy’s Assassination ******************************* Make sure that you keep a save file here to see the Festival and then visit Iskandar Plaza. While at the festival Ventus will bump into an Anubito. Kurt tries to stop the Anubito and ends up fighting. Travel around the Hall of Heaven avoiding the fight with the Assassins and go to Staircase J. From there, travel down Staircase E and into the Hall of Hades. When you take a step in the Hall of Hades you will sense something moving around. The best thing to do is to rotate your characters and go for combos. If a character has not been using a weapon or learning new techniques, they will most likely during this fight. Most of the attacks can be deflected so make sure that you have a weapon with this ability in the Weaponry2 slot. After the Giant is defeated a door will unlock somewhere in the Hall of Hades. After the Giant is defeated you can go back the way you came in to get back to the Hall of Heaven and defeat the Assassins or you can go the long way around exploring every part of the Mausoleum. Starship Anchor ============================= Once you defeat Agares you will have access to Starship Anchor which is one of the Seven Wonders and the final adventure in Kurt’s quest. Recommended Skills: Architect ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of Turns | Unlimited ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the final adventure so take your time and heal after every battle. You can even look around for treasure. The first thing that you must do in the first forest is to get to the Chamber of Planets. A stone door prevents you from getting in but it is no problem because all that you have to do is examine it. Once you are inside of the Chamber of Planets, you will be attacked by an Arcwinger. Name | LP | Attacks =============================================================================== Arcwinger | 6 | Deathcry | Wingsword | Toxin | Storm Strategy ======== Equipment with Parry, Deflect, or Block is great because they can nullify 2 of its attacks. The best thing is to go for combos at the start of the battle because he doesn’t normally use Storm. If you haven’t defeated him that quickly and he starts to use Storm, stick to your most powerful single attacks to take him down. If you are having trouble with him and he takes a lot of life points from you then I suggest you leave and get stronger before taking on this adventure. After defeating the Arcwinger, a constellation board with fourteen stars and the Polar Star is enshrined. Examine the board and you will see a constellation appear on the dome. Next head to the stairs and climb down to Constellation Planes #1. In the first constellation planes you will see a line of light connecting the stars. If you don’t see it, then that means that you haven’t touched the constellation board. Follow the line, not going off the path until you have reached the stairway which will now be accessible. Occasionally you will see a shooting star. The first sighting is by moving onto 2 stars off of the path and using at least 3 turns, The second sighting is after you’ve moved onto 5 stars not on the path and the meteor falls when you have walked on at least two stars not on the path and used 3 turns. If you run to a safe star on the final meteor you will be attacked anyways so don’t let two shooting stars fall unless of course you want to be attacked. If one drops right down on you, you will be attacked by a group of monsters numbering three to Six. They can be good because groups of monsters like these drop Magic Tablets. The woods are divided into two parts. You must again make your way into the Chamber of the Planets and fight an Arcwinger to reach the end of the Starship Anchor. As soon as his Life Points start going down, use bows, spears, or daggers. Whoever has the highest skill should be using these weapons. Whenever one of your damage users gets injured a bit, pull them from the battle and then use someone with Purify to heal that person while they are off screen. The second and third forms lose Life Points Quickly and Chaos will begin to use Raven Blade on the third form. Once you get to the fourth and final form, Use a three person team maximum and try not to lose more than one person at once. He will use Overkill Occasionally so be aware of your party’s Life Points. Also on the fourth form, don’t go for combos otherwise Chaos will get a lot of attacks in a row resulting in some serious damage. Once he begins to lose Life Points on the final form, just keep hitting him with LP draining techniques and swap out characters carefully until he is finished.
