=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= - Nightmare of Druaga - Fushigingo Dungeon - = = - Quest Guide - = = - Version 1.3 - = = - by Flynn Arrowstarr - =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This is a quick guide to the quests handed to Prince Gil through the Town Hall Guild in the west section of the castle. I decided to write this guide as there were no comparable guides available on GameFaqs, and I've always wanted to try writing a guide. This is my first ever guide, so there will likely be some mistakes. I will do my best to correct those mistakes as time goes on. I do work a full time job, so I may not be able to update my guide as frequently as other FAQ authors. However, I do plan to finish this guide and write others as time permits. Please be patient with me. =) I have set up a email address for people to write in with questions regarding this guide. Please email druaga_guide@flynnarrowstarr.com with questions not already covered in this guide, or if you have any corrections or suggestions. Contents =-=-=-=-=-= Like many FAQ writers, I've implemented an easy to use system to quickly find the section you want. Just press [CTRL] + F and search for the key in the section below to jump to the quest. If you don't want the story ruined, don't read beyond the short description in the quest info. As far as I know, the stories in the quest mode do not have anything to do with the main storyline. Thanks for writing in. =) Also added Quest 5. 07/13/2005 - v1.1 added Normal Quest 4. 07/02/2005 - First edition of the guide. Covers Normal Quests 1 - 3 and Quests 7 - 10. Basic Strategy [BaSt] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Don't be afraid to escape the dungeons via feather or the key. You begin each quest at Level 1 and usually with the basic equipment. As long as you haven't fulfilled the requirements for the quest, Prince Gil will retain all of his items and gold between attempts. Begin each quest using a slow, methodic approach. At Level 1 with a Short Sword, Prince Gil will have a difficult time against most monsters. Build up your levels by making brief forrays into the quest dungeon as necessary. Once you can comfortably handle the monsters on the level, go after the quest items. Use terrain to your advantage. Many of the dungeons feature little blocks that you can stand on to gain height advantage over the monsters. This is very important when you're at early levels. Normal shops are not available to you during quests. You cannot buy extra healing potions, nor can you inscribe items. You must survive on what you're able to find within the dungeons. This makes it all the more important that you don't die during quests. DON'T DIE!! You will lose all quest items and have to start collecting them all over again. As with normal dungeons, you lose all your items and half your gold when you die. When in doubt, feather out. Normal Quests [NoQu] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Quest 1: Father With a Request [Qu01] Name: Begzibo When Available: At the beginning of the game Quest: I want to present my twin sons with weapons. Could you bring back matching weapons for me from the dungeons? Goal: Retrieve two Iron Spears Dungeon Name: Dilapidated Shrine Floors: 1 Starting Equipment: Gold Armor, Gold Boots, Gold Helm, Gold Shield, Gold Gauntlets, Short Sword, Healing Potion (x2), Feather Rewards: Bronze Spear, 2000 gold After accepting the quest, you will meet with Begzibo at the south end of town near the gates. He will explain that his sons are moving to Isis against his wishes. While his sons say they are pursuing academic endeavors in Isis, Begzibo believes they are running to Isis to escape the monsters plaguing Babilim. Begzibo is concerned because his sons are (in his words) "...delicate." He realized they didn't pack any weapons, so he asked the guild to find some weapons for his sons. Prince Gil suggests taking along a couple of Iron Spears, and he may know a dungeon the weapons can be found in. When you're finished with the conversation, talk to guard just east of the town gates. He will open the gates, and you will be transported to the dungeon. Start by trying to gain a few levels. Monsters in this dungeon are similar to the monsters on the first two or three levels of the Dark Ruins. Your immediate goal is to find some extra healing items in the chests scattered through the level. Secondary goal is to upgrade your weapon to either a Bronze Mace, or a Bronze Claymore. The Iron Spears are randomly dropped by wandering Black Knights. Once you get the first spear, immediately equip it. Your life will be made so much easier. Keep fighting monsters until you find the second Iron Spear. You will be warped back to town to talk with Begzibo. Begzibo thanks Prince Gil for finding the spears, exclaiming even his sons should be able to fend off a monster or two with them. Go back to the Town Hall to claim your reward. Quest 2: The Exorcism [Qu02] Name: Calindra/Chilna/Balba When Available: After clearing the Dark Ruins Quest: A valuable weapon has become possessed. To exorcise it, you must equip it and defeat monsters. Goal: Slay 20 monsters with the cursed sword Dungeon Name: Land of Evil Floors: 1 Starting Equipment: Gold Armor, Gold Boots, Gold Helm, Gold Shield, Gold Gauntlets, Cursed Sword, Healing Potion (x2), Feather Rewards: Silver Sword, 3000 gold Prince Gil is met in the Town Hall by Balba the Appraiser, Calindra the Shrine Mother, and Chilna the Scholar. Chilna had found a sword possessed by an evil, bloodthirsty spirit. While having the sword appraised, the sword tried to possess Balba and make him attack everyone around him. Prince Gil figures that if the sword is truely bloodthirsty, it might be sated by monster blood. The others agree, hoping that once the spirit is sated, it will leave and Chilna will be able to continue her research on the sword. Before leaving, Prince Gil discovers a name on the haft of the sword: Richard. Speak to Kood the Sailor at the wharf (southeast of the Town Hall). He will take you to the Land of Evil, where Prince Gil will attempt the exorcism. Once there, the sword will scream for blood. The Land of Evil is filled with monsters a little tougher than those found in the Dark Ruins. Stick to the basic strategies above and you should be fine. Once the mosters are defeated, you will be returned to the Town Hall. There, you will find that Richard was a young sword maker that was extremely gifted. He was working on his masterpiece when he was slain by monsters. His anger and desire for revenge bound his spirit to the sword. Now that Richard's soul is at peace, Chilna can finish her research on the sword. Reader Tip -=-=-=-=-=- Zanth6 writes -- "I enjoyed your quest guide. I have noticed, and you may want to mention this in your next update, that the more you level up in quest 2 and quest 4, the harder it is to complete them. If you don't succeed after feathering out only a couple of times, it's best to start over." Quest 3: The Uninspired Poet 1 [Qu03] Name: Sebulus/Kiria When Available: After clearing the Dark Ruins Quest: I'm writing a poem about the Druaga War, but I need to see a real monster's equipment first before I can finish. Goal: Retreive a full set of Blue Knight equipment Dungeon Name: Sinister Corridor Floors: 1 Starting Equipment: Gold Armor, Gold Boots, Gold Helm, Gold Shield, Gold Gauntlets, Short Sword, Healing Potion (x2), Feather Rewards: Blue Knight Shield, Blue Knight Helm, Blue Knight Armor, Blue Knight Gloves, Blue Knight Boots This can be a difficult or easy quest. Your goal is to find a full set of Blue Knight equipment (Armor, Helm, Shield, Boots, and Gloves) for Sebulus the Minstrel. He wants to write a song that will inspire people to unite against the monsters, but lacks any experience fighting monsters. Initially, he wants Prince Gil to take him into the dungeon to fight the monsters first hand, but Prince Gil and Kiria the Clerk talk him out of it. Sebulus then says he could be sufficiently inspired to write the song if Prince Gil retreives a full set of Blue Knight equipment from the dungeon. After talking to the Sebulus, talk to Kood at the wharf to be transported to the dungeon. Once in the Sinister Corridor, your immediate goal is to upgrade your equipment. Red Knights carry the best equipment, but are extrememly deadly to a first level adventurer. Your best bet is to run from any Knights you encounter and look for a red or purple chest. Red chests contain weapons, while purple chests contain armor. If you can find a Chain Armor and an Iron Claymore, you'll be in much better shape to fight. If you get surrounded, feather out immediately. Once you have upgraded your weapon and armor, now it's time to level up a bit. In the process, you'll be able to upgrade some equipment as well. Hyper Knights are good for this, as they can be cornered if you're careful. Their armor isn't too bad either. Just be ready with the feather if you get surrounded or you run out of Healing Potions. During this time, keep trying to fight as many Blue Knights as possible to build up your collection of quest items. Be careful using unknown green potions. Many of the green potions in this dungeon are Energy-Drain Potions, which will severely drop your HP. I think it drops your HP to 1 regardless of how many HP you currently have. I don't have to tell you that this is very bad... =) After surviving the onslaught and returning victorious, you find out the real reason Sebulus wanted the armor. His sweetheart had been killed by a Blue Knight. He wanted to take revenge by killing a Blue Knight, but he knew he wasn't strong enough. So, he decided to seek out his revenge by destroying the armor. Once he has the armor, he changes his mind and decides to keep the armor as a tribute to his fallen love. Quest 4: The Thief in the Night [Qu04] Name: Kazam/Kiria/Toras/Isak When Available: After clearing the Underground Cavern Quest: A monster carried off the Chrono Orb Fragment. With its vast magical power, who knows what strength the monster will gain? Goal: Get back the Chono Orb Fragment Dungeon Name: Cursed Forest Floors: 15 Starting Equipment: Short Sword, Golden Shield, Golden Helm, Golden Armor, Golden Gauntlets, Golden Boots, Healing Potion (x2), Feather Rewards: Akynd Knight Shield, Akynd Knight Helm, Akynd Knight Armor, Akynd Knight Boots, Akynd Knight Gauntlets, 5,000 Gold Upon accepting the quest you meet with the four people at the foot of the stairs below the Goddess Statue. Kazam reports a monster disguised as a soldier has stolen a fragment of the Chono Orb you retreived at the end of your adventure in the Underground Cavern. The monster was able to elude the city guards and escape into the dungeons. Prince Gil again volunteers to go after the monster and retrieve the fragment. A portal to the dungeon is opened. Go up the stairs and into the usual portal room. There, talk to Lumina the Shrine Maiden and she will teleport you to the Cursed Forest. This dungeon contains monsters similar to the monsters you found in the lower levels of the Underground Cavern. Be cautious when starting out, as Stygian Knights and Black Knights each have a two-square reach. This is the first quest dungeon to feature multiple floors. Other than having more than one floor, the same basic rules apply. Upgrade your equipment as quickly as you can, then gain a few levels and amass some items. Be cautious when using unappraised items as there are a number of bad potions amongst the good potions. Around floor B5, the monsters change and include Mage Ghosts and Lizardmen. Druid Ghosts and Mages also appear, so be prepared to be teleported around a lot. Items also get an upgrade, including Chain armors and better quality good potions. Monsters and items upgrade again on floor B10, including Iron weapons and armor, and Elite Hyper Knights. Floor B15 is where you'll find the monster along with a host of other baddies. The monster is in the form of a giant Akynd Knight with a two-square reach. By now, you should have built up a nice collection of Healing Potions, Spikes and Bottles. Unleash whatever you can on him (he had 265 HP when I fought him) and he'll eventually go down. Upon your return to town, you'll give your report to the four quest sponsors. Isak the Sage is jubilent since he wants to research using the Chrono Orb Fragment to boost the Shrine Maidens' powers. He hopes the increase in power will help the Shrine Maidens communicate with Ishtar the Goddess. Gil suggests that Isak abort his research, since he feels running to the Gods for help all the time is not the right thing to do. Though he cautions that the people shouldn't give up their faith, just learn to rely on themselves more often. Once Gil's sermon is complete, return to the Town Hall to collect your reward. Reader Tip -=-=-=-=-=- Zanth6 writes -- "I enjoyed your quest guide. I have noticed, and you may want to mention this in your next update, that the more you level up in quest 2 and quest 4, the harder it is to complete them. If you don't succeed after feathering out only a couple of times, it's best to start over." Quest 5: Forgotten Memories [Qu05] Name: Calindra/Kazam/Balba/Roa When Available: After clearing the Deserted Holy Place Quest: I want you to find and bring back the keepsakes we left hidden in treasure chests in the dungeon. Goal: Find and bring back the keepsakes (Old Spear, Prayer Staff, Chrono Orb Report, Book of Appraisal). Dungeon Name: Forest Labyrinth Floors: 4 Starting Equipment: Gold Armor, Gold Boots, Gold Helm, Gold Shield, Gold Gauntlets, Short Sword, Healing Potion (x2), Feather Rewards: Dragon Drops (x3), Ishtar's Liqueur (x3), 10,000 gold. Upon accepting the quest you meet with the four quest sponsors. They have a favor they'd like Prince Gil to do for them. In the past, several treasures were hidden inside treasure chests and sent to the Forest Labyrinth for safe- keeping. However, they had hidden the wrong items. Prince Gil, sensing where the conversation is heading, volunteers to find the missing items. Once you're finished chatting, head over to Kood at the docks for a boat ride to the dungeon. Once inside, it's business as usual. You will be facing a variety of creatures from the Deserted Holy Place, including Blue Knight Retainers, Mirror Knights, various Bats, Vampires, and such. Of particular note, there are a large number of Snakes in the first level, so your first priority is to find some Antidote potions as quickly as you can. Level two includes a large number of Lizardmen, Slimes and Ghosts. Level three is mostly undead and spirits, with a few Hyper Knights and Oozes thrown in. Level four monsters are a mix of Mages, Red Knights, Sorcerers and such. Quest items are in gold treasure chests dropped by one monster per level. It seems to be a random monster on each level that carries the treasure. Once you collect the four items, you're warped to town for your reward. Again, like Zanth6's remarks for Quests 2 and 4, if you're gaining too many levels, you may want to warp out and start the quest over. There are a lot of monsters in the Forest Labyrinth, and they can easily gang up on you in the open spaces. Take it easy and play it safe and you should make it out ok. Quest 6: The Little Wanderer [Qu06] Name: Zora/Redeus When Available: After deciding to return the Blue Crystal Rod to Heaven. Quest: The dog the whole neighborhood loved has gone missing. We hear his yelps coming from the well. Could you find him? Goal: Find and bring back the dog Dungeon Name: Well of the Accursed Floors: 1 Starting Equipment: Gold Armor, Gold Boots, Gold Helm, Gold Shield, Gold Gauntlets, Short Sword, Healing Potion (x2), Feather Rewards: Rough Aquamarine, Rough Alabaster, Rough Quartz, Rough Spinel, Rough Sulpher, Rough Graphite Zora has noticed the stray dog, Manny, has gone missing. She was helping to look after the dog, but it decided to run away one day after sounding a sad bark. Zora and Redeus had been looking after the dog since being found by the river. She pleads with Gil to find Manny and bring him home, telling Gil that Redeus had gone to the town sqaure to find more information. At the town square (near the gates for the first quest), you find Redeus near town's well. He tells Gil that Manny barked at the well then jumped in. After questiong Redeus some more, Gil discovers the reason Manny left was Zora and Redeus were fighting. Redeus had decided to leave Zora, and they couldn't decide who shold get to keep Manny (since finding Manny brought them together in the first place). Gil agrees to look for Manny, readies himself and jumps in after the loveable little pup. There are some tough battles in the well. Some of your opponents include multiple types of Slimes, Red Killers, and even multiple types of Roper. Not something you want to run into at level 1 with your wimpy Short Sword. Your first order of business is survival. Gain a couple or three levels to increase your strength, try and find stronger weapons and armor, and don't be afraid to use your Feather to get out. Fortunately, you can find Mytheral weapons in this dungeon, so once you find a weapon, you can pretty much take out lower level monsters in one shot. However, then it becomes tempting to kill everything in sight and gain several levels. Like the previous quests, gaining too many levels can actually hurt more than it helps. Be cautious roaming the dungeon and pick your targets. There is only one floor to this dungeon and it's fairly small, so odds are you can find Manny with few problems. It is pretty easy to be overrun if you're not careful though. Once you find Manny, you're warped back to town. Zora admonishes Manny for running away. Gil asks if Zora truely think of Manny as her child, to which she emphatically says yes. Gil tells her that Redeus told him the story of their fight and subsequent breakup. Gil tells her he feels that both Redeus and Zora weren't thinking of Manny during their argument, but of themselves. He tells Zora the reason Manny ran away in the first place was he didn't want to see them break up. Gil tells Zora it's still her choice to break up with Redeus, but that Manny would be unhappy with both of them. She promises to talk to Redeus one more time. Gil can now go back to the guild and claim his reward. Before you do, go back to the well and talk to Redeus, who will also tell Gil he still loves Zora and will try talking to her one more time. Quest 7: The Uninspired Poet 2 [Qu07] Name: Sebulus/Kiria When Available: After clearing Quest 3 Quest: I'm writing a poem about the Druaga War, but I need to see a real monster's equipment first before I can finish. Goal: Retreive a full set of Black Knight equipment Dungeon Name: Sinister Corridor Floors: 1 Starting Equipment: Gold Armor, Gold Boots, Gold Helm, Gold Shield, Gold Gauntlets, Short Sword, Healing Potion (x2), Feather Rewards: Black Knight Shield, Black Knight Helm, Black Knight Armor, Black Knight Gloves, Black Knight Boots Same guys, same basic quest. This time, you need to retrieve a full set of Black Knight equipment. See Quest 3 for the gory details. Once you've finished gathering the equipment, you will be transported back to town to chat with Sebulus and Karia. You get the exact same story as the end of Quest 3. Once you get through the conversation, you can go to the Town Hall to collect your reward. Quest 8: The Uninspired Poet 3 [Qu08] Name: Sebulus/Kiria When Available: After clearing Quest 7 Quest: I'm writing a poem about the Druaga War, but I need to see a real monster's equipment first before I can finish. Goal: Retreive a full set of Mirror Knight equipment Dungeon Name: Sinister Corridor Floors: 1 Starting Equipment: Gold Armor, Gold Boots, Gold Helm, Gold Shield, Gold Gauntlets, Short Sword, Healing Potion (x2), Feather Rewards: Mirror Knight Shield, Mirror Knight Helm, Mirror Knight Armor, Mirror Knight Gloves, Mirror Knight Boots Again, another quest where you need to obtain a set of knight equipment from the Sinister Corridor. This time, it's the Mirror Knight. This is a little harder than the previous missions, as the Mirror Knight is a little tougher and is able to move faster than Prince Gil. Quest 9: The Uninspired Poet 4 [Qu09] Name: Sebulus/Kiria When Available: After clearing Quest 8 Quest: I'm writing a poem about the Druaga War, but I need to see a real monster's equipment first before I can finish. Goal: Retreive a full set of Hyper Knight equipment Dungeon Name: Sinister Corridor Floors: 1 Starting Equipment: Gold Armor, Gold Boots, Gold Helm, Gold Shield, Gold Gauntlets, Short Sword, Healing Potion (x2), Feather Rewards: Hyper Knight Shield, Hyper Knight Helm, Hyper Knight Armor, Hyper Knight Gauntlets, Hyper Knight Boots Hyper Knights this time. Note there is a chance your weapon will fly out of your hand when attacking the Hyper Knights. The chances of your weapon flying increases based on the level of the Hyper Knight you're attacking. Quest 10: The Uninspired Poet 5 [Qu10] Name: Sebulus/Kiria When Available: After clearing Quest 9 Quest: I'm writing a poem about the Druaga War, but I need to see a real monster's equipment first before I can finish. Goal: Retreive a full set of Red Knight equipment Dungeon Name: Sinister Corridor Floors: 1 Starting Equipment: Gold Armor, Gold Boots, Gold Helm, Gold Shield, Gold Gauntlets, Short Sword, Healing Potion (x2), Feather Rewards: Red Knight Shield, Red Knight Helm, Red Knight Armor, Red Knight Gauntlets, Red Knight Boots Ok. Last quest, and this one has you attacking the dreaded Red Knights. The strongest of the knights with the highest attack and defense values. Use a little extra caution, and you should come out just fine. The Red Knight equipment will help out a lot when you're exploring the rest of the dungeons. Just make sure you don't get killed before you have enough inscriptions to protect it all... Thanks [Thnk] =-=-=-=-= Thanks to my wife, Mrs. Flynn, for helping me keep notes while working on the quests, for pointing out the game in the first place, and for putting up with my Playstation addiction. =) Thanks to Zanth6 for his tips for Quests 2 and 4. Thanks to Chunsoft, Arika and Namco for producing a fun game, and for releasing it in the U.S.
