I am Psychotic34(no not literally, except on The Getaway...)<--- that joke worked better with the name I orignally wanted, which was Psychotic, but someone already had it(I wrote this before I signed up) so I put my lucky number on the end. Anyway, this is my second submission to gamefaqs but it's my first in-depth guide. You may remember my Vice City guide, which can be found at: I'm from the UK, and as this game is set in the UK I will use English words eg Tyre instead of Tire.(That's the only vehicle related one I could think of!) This guide is all about the vehicles that feature in The Getaway, so don't expect me to tell you how to complete certain missions in this guide. If you see it on any other site, then E-mail me. psychotic_34@hotmail.com *If you want to E-mail me any: - Glitches - Fun things to do - Any extra Vehicles I may have missed - Any extra car colours I would be very happy to recieve them and will try to include as many as I can Just have the title of your email "The Getaway" or something similar.I will try to reply to every E-mail, and I have so far but don't expect me to reply if I get 100 e-mails or something. I have included every single Submission so far, so you probably won't get turned down, unless you say something like "I discovered a Plane/Helicop- ter" etc. Also please include the name you would like to be credited as, because the fun thing about submitting stuff is having your name in a guide!* No Chain-Mails, Viruses etc please!(Not that anyone listens, I get loads of Viruses every day. Well, the most I've had in one day is 3, but I think all the ones I've been sent is from a worm) ***************************************************************************** 1.1 Version History 1.0 3/1/03 The First Version! 1.1 3/2/03 Hmmmm.... Laziness aplenty, I really couldn't be bothered recently, so I am sure some of you had your e-mails sent to junk mail by hotmail and never were read by me. Ah well. Anyway, I corrected my stupidity on several occasions thanks to some nice people. Well, they might not be nice and they might just be saying that because they want to go "HA HA! You're stupid!" but I doubt this somewhat.... I also completed the "other vehicles bit" well, nearly, I just couldn't find out which Jag was used in the Demo version, so some smart alec needs to find that out for me, danke schön! No wait, I can't talk in foreign languages, just forget I said that. Although the date may say 3/2/03, it is now the 20th, and I didn't submit it. Oh well, I'm submitting this now anyway... ***************************************************************************** 1.2 Controls In Vehicle (For this is a Vehicle Guide!) You may learn something, you may not. ***************************************************************************** 2.1 Basic Tips - The Indicators Tell you where to go If the Left indicator is Flashing, you will need to go left. If the Right indicator is Flashing, you will need to go right. If the left indicator is Flashing Frantically, you will need to go left and then make another left turn. If the right indicator is Flashing Frantically, you will need to go left and then make another right turn. If the Hazard Lights are Flashing, you will need to stop, as you have arrived at your destination. - We Drive on the Left in the(and to give it it's full title) United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland(which is actually stupid, since Northern Ireland is part of Great Britain), you know. So don't drive on the right, or you will end up meeting with oncoming traffic, which is never pretty. Well, I am silly, and here is why: well... Northern Ireland is in no way a part of Great Britain. Great Britain is - England, Wales & Scotland (as set up by the Union act of 1772 - or around about that year). Northern Ireland was added separately to the title after 1920 when the Republic of Ireland gained independence from the British Empire. Hense The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I know its REALLY, REALLY picky - but I dont want Americans getting wrong information about us. Although admittedly most of them couldnt point us out on a World map. Many thanks A 'Getaway' lover. On the Getaway message board, I saw a post that was something like "LOL! British people drive on the left!!!11" (It had 11). Posts by Americans like these do irritate me, but I am pleased to say the vast majority of Americans are not arrogant, so well done USA. - "One way, there is a sign!" One Way streets are extremely annoying, as for me at least, I only notice I am on them when I am going down them the wrong way. The only way to tell if the street is a one way street is if it is a narrow street, cars will only be going in one direction. I always go down them though, and stick to the pavement - Pick a decent car. Although picking big fast cars is always fun, sometimes it is easier to choose a smaller car, as you can weave in and out of traffic more easily, rather than smash into them. Remember, there isn't enough space on a lot of roads for you to just go speeding off. - Try to stay down the middle of the road, if possible. Obviously trying to do this is incredibly stupid if there are railings down the middle of it, as smashing into Railings will only lead to one thing. If there are things like Traffic Bollards or Cones, keep going, you can easily knock them out the way, but things like traffic lights aren't going to move for you, so dodge them. - If you can't go down the middle of the road, then the best place for you to go is on the pavement, as pedestrians will cause a lot less damage to your car than hitting a railing would. Running down people does not impress the Police however, and they will chase you and then shoot you(or hit you with their truncheon) when they can. And hitting pedestrians does damage your car, and don't forget that there are also things like trees on the pavement (strange I know) and also lamposts. Colliding with one of them isn't really recommended. You can hit bins though, as they will just bounce up like traffic bollards or traffic cones - Speed is all very well and good, and is OK if you want to get somewhere in a hurry, like if you are on a timed mission or gangs are chasing you and trying to kill you, but it isn't suited to most of London's roads, so just tone down your speed if you want to keep your nice shiny new car for a bit longer. Of course, not speeding in a TVR Cerbera is like not playing a decent PS2 Game(I would say Vice City, but meh) like The Getaway if you own a PS2. The best Place to do it is the enbankment(Road that runs along the river on the north side) A sent in driving tip, yes: Just read your driving and car guide (very well done). I recently found something that you didn't mention in your guide. With decent and good front wheel drive cars (anyone that wheel spins from a standing start which is almost all except the micra and Saxo) if you hold down the handbrake and power down until the car creeps forward then let go of the handbrake your car will instantly go to third gear and reach top speed in nano seconds. Just be carefull not to turn at the same time unless your in a open space. DVS. Well, there you go. Try it some time. ***************************************************************************** 2.2 Avoiding Someone Throughout the Getaway, people in cars are likely to want to knock you off the road and shoot you, so here are some tips on how to stop them getting you. - The Evasion When a car is chasing you, it is likely to pull out in front of you, skid sideways and block your route. Also, they will always do this if they are coming towards you from in-front. The best thing to do is to put on the brakes, as you won't go flying into them, and then you can just go around them very easily. Any other Purusing cars could also end up smashing into that car, which effectively removes them both from the chase. - The Road Block The Police like setting up road blocks if you are doing the missions, and there are two kinds. If they are not chasing you, they will just set one up with the Peugeot 306's and maybe a Van. There won't be a stinger, so you can just drive on through the gap. The Cops may begin to chase you(but not the roadblock cops) or they may just ignore you. There are also armed cops there. If you were to kill one of them by running him down(or by any other method) or if you went and smashed right into one of the cars, the obviously, they would chase you. (Again, not the Roadblock Cops) The second kind usually contains two marked Police Vectras, a Van which is on the Pavement, and a stinger. Or, if it is a wide road it might have an extra Vectra or Van, and an extra stinger. When I first encountered these, I would fall for it, thinking "Ha, you left a space clear, morons!" and then wonder why my car had suddenly stopped. Do not go over the stingers at all costs! here's what you do in order of preference: 1) Sometimes Cops leave a gap in between a Vectra and a Stinger. This can be used to your advantage, especially if the gap is big enough for you to get through, but although it sometimes does happen, it is very rare. Usually there will be enough of a gap for you to clip the Police Car, which isn't a problem. Do this, then quickly swerve back across the road so that you are lined up with the stinger, and any pursuing cars(which there will be if you see this kind of roadblock) are likely to go over the stingers and stop! 2) The next best thing to do if there is no gap is to hit the rear end of one of the Vectras, so it goes spinning out of your way, so you can make it through without major damage. 3) On some roads, the Vectras could be in front of railings, so ramming them will just result in you being stuck against them, and then probably being sandwiched as another cop car slams into you. The best thing to do is to hit the Van, as it will always be on the pavement facing away from you. You can barge it out of the way quickly if you are going fast, and continue in your escape from the Police. - The Lure A good way of removing cars that are hot on your tail is to lure them into things. For example, driving fast down the road, line yourself up with a set of railings that is about to come down the middle of the road. Try to stay slightly to the left of them if you can, then quickly swerve to the left just before you hit it, so that the car behind you slams into the railings, destroying their car. You must go to the left, because usually cars that follow you tend to stay on your right, especially when they overtake you. Another example of doing this, is to go down the pavement on the left hand sdie, so that your car is merely inches away from scraping the wall, because any pursuing car is likely to slam head on into any Lamposts which tend to be on the right hand side of the pavement(closest to the road) and you can lose them that way.A third way is to lure them to smash into traffic, the bigger the vehicle they smash into, the better! Like a London Bus for example! - The Weave Another way of losing any pursuers, is to weave in and out of a traffic jam. Obviously, a small car like a Daihatsu Sirion, a Citroen Saxo, a Peugeot 306 or a Nissan Micra etc will be the best at this. Any pursuers, unless they are Ordinary road cops (Usually this will be on Free Roaming Mode or at the very start of a chase) will be in big chunky cars, so they can't move in and out of traffic easily. They will end up smashing into one of the cars there, no problem, whilst you make your speedy getaway! - Playing them against each other If you have both a gang(or even two, but that hasn't ever happened to me) and the Cops chasing you, stop, wait for them to get out of their cars and shoot at you, then drive(you, not them) a little way down the road. They will ignore you and go for each other, but beware, when one side is dead, the other one will go after you, so drive away when one side has been reduced to one man. ***************************************************************************** 2.3 Car Damage - Engine Damage Engine damage consists of four main stages: Undamaged - no smoke. If there is no smoke coming out of the engine, then the car is fine, and you can continue going as normal Slightly Damaged - White Smoke. The car is likely to be in this state if you have managed to smash it into something. The car will run perfectly fine, but it could change into the next state very easily, especially if you over exert the car Severely Damaged - Black/Grey Smoke. The car will be in this state if you have been involved in a particulary nasty accident, or if you have been at the previous stage. The car will continue to run, but very slowly. The best thing to do here is to put your wrecked car in front of another car (preferably one you want) then get out and take the new car. Burning up! - Flames. A quick warning of just before this happens is when the controller starts to vibrate, and also when characters say a comment like "Shit, help me!"(Mark Hammond). When this, happens, stop and get out *immediately* or you will perish in the flames. You can do this to other people when they are in their cars and they crall out in flames Engine damage can be caused by either car crashes or gun fire, but that depends on where the bullets hit the car. - Tyre Damage There are 3 "stages" of Tyre damage, but they aren't really linked because one will neccessarily lead to another, though it sometimes can. Driving to one side - This is the most common tyre related problem that you will face, and the car will begin to shift to the opposite side to where a tyre has blownout. Tyres usually blow out after Police/Gangs shoot them(they have a nasty habit of doing that). I continue on regardless of this, so really you should too. On certain missions where Police and gangs are chasing you at the same time, such as at the end of Art Appreciation, your new car is likely to get this straight away, as the cops/gangs will be shooting you like hell when you get in the car, but will aim for the tyres. Driving on Rims - This is basically has the same effects as before I think, I haven't really tested it to be honest. I imagine you would drive more slowly, but when it's happened to me, it wasn't really noticeable. It will happen after a while when one of your tyres has burst, eventually it will fall off (though I haven't actually seen this, it's what has to happen) and the rim will be left to drive on the road, causing sparks to fly, which is pretty cool. Multiple Tyres Burst - Now is the time to get out. If 3 or 4 tyres have been burst, the car will drive very slowly or grind to a halt. You can get away (no pun intended) with two tyres burst, especially if they are on the same side of the car, but the car will drive to one side even more - Window Damage All the windows in the car can be shattered, which ususally happens because of gun fire. You may be able to do this whilst crashing, I haven't really tested this either. All the windows of most regular cars can be smashed, and it usually requires 3 shots. Each shot will leave a hole in the window at the exact spot where it was fired, which is cool and the first shot will cause the window to "fragment" Both you and other people can be shot inside vehicles, so look out and do it to other people I guess. This will not lead to the car setting on fire. - Body Damage When you crash a car into things, it visibly begins to get crumpled at the point of impact, typically at the front or back. This is usually what leads to the engine damage of the car. - Light Damage Lights on the car, such as headlights, reverse lights, brake lights, indicator lights and sirens on Police Vehicles can be damaged and put out of action. This is especially annoying if your indicators have been destroyed(and you didn't notice, because they weren't flashing before). There is a simple test to see whether your indicator lights have been taken out, and that is to make a left turn, and see if your indicators flash right(unless you had to take a left turn, but you'd know that if your indicators were working, I could go on in a boring manner explaining how this all works, but I really can't be bothered) ***************************************************************************** 3.0 Full Vehicle List In this I decided to include every single vehicle, for reference. This means that although there are other categories like "Emergency Vehicles" for example, things like Police Cars will appear in this list. All cars will be listed in alphabetical order, and will be assessed under the following criteria (makes me sound like a driving instructor or something) Note, this is all false! FALSE FALES FALSE! no, not the guide itself, this demo example, although the criteria will remain the same, got it? Name: eg Steamroller! Most likely to be found: eg In the River! Colours found in:eg Pink, Brown, Orange. (any I know of, I can't list them all if I don't know them all!) Speed:eg 6/10 it goes quite fast, doesn't it? Acceleration:eg 2/10 damn slow off the mark Handling:eg 1/10 Like a dead Whale Durablity:eg 10/10 It'll take a fair few hits Looks:eg 5/10 Like a Steamroller! The Steamroller is a car. Well no, it isn't. I wouldn't really use one to escape in. It basically looks like a steamroller, and if you don't know what one of them is, then I feel sorry for you, really I do. And with no further wait, here they all are! Name:Alfa Romeo 156 Most Likely to be Found:They can be found nearly everywhere, so just look! Colours found in:Green, Light Blue, a Sickly Green. Speed:7/10 Quite Fast Acceleration:6/10 Again, it isn't a slow car Handling:4/10 nothing too special Durability:5/10 it can take enough damage to last a while Looks:5/10 I don't really like it all that much This car is owned by Mark Hammond, or at least I think it is. It's the car he first uses to pursue Charlie's boys (and girl) when they kidnap Alex, so that's why I'm going to assume it. It's the only Alpha Romeo in the game, it isn't a bad car, but it isn't what I'd call world class either. Name:Ambulance Most Likely to be Found:Around the Hospital(usually in pairs) which is on Tottenham Court road, if memory serves me correct Colours found in:White, with ambulance insignia on it Speed:4/10 Not all that fast Acceleration:3/10 Again, it isn't exactly a Ferrari Handling:3/10 Not all that good Durability:7/10 It knows how to take a hit Looks:4/10 Ambulances are ugly, but I guess it's cool driving around in one. This is an Ambulance! they are driven only by paramedics. You can also activate the siren with the L3. It's ironic because in one of Carter's missions where you have to take Joe to the hospital, Carter says "I won't wait for the Ambulance" even though when you go down the road, there's loads all driving together. Name:Bus Most Likely to be Found:All over, but there's a lot in Southwark if you ask me Colours found in:Red Speed:*Unknown* I'd estimate 3/10 Acceleration:*Unknown* I'd estimate 3/10 Handling:*Unknown* I'd estimate 2/10 Durability:*Unknown* I'd estimate 7/10 Looks:4/10 I do know this one! It looks ugly For some reason known only to Team Soho, you can't actually get into the single-decker buses. Where I live, these are white, but in London presumably they are red. OK, see "Other vehicle" section for some notes on buses Name:Brabus A-Class Most Likely to be Found:Hyde Park, the Mall Colours found in:Black, White Speed:6/10 Fairly Fast Little Motor Acceleration:5/10 Kinda quick Handling:6/10 she can go round corners OK Durability:4/10 can't take too many collisions Looks:4/10 Ugly This is a modified Mercedes A-Class and was a very clever thing for Team Soho to do by slipping this one in under the manufacturer, Brabus. It's an OK ride I guess Name:Brabus S-Class Most Likely to be Found:Yardie Turf, ie Clerkerwell Colours found in:Silver Speed:8/10 vrroom! Acceleration:7/10 again, it's fast! Handling:5/10 nothing wrong with the handling Durability:4/10 Slamming it into things isn't the best of ideas Looks:7/10 nice! This is a car used exclusively by the Yardies(In that I haven't seen anyone else using them). Good to cruise around in, but it isn't fun when they are chasing you as they are lightning quick. It's a modified Mercedes SL.It's the Yardies "second choice" car. Name:Citroen Saxo Most Likely to be Found:Around the West side of London Colours found in:Blue, Orange, Purple Speed:5/10 Average Acceleration:6/10 Not too slow off the mark Handling:8/10 very good! Durability:3/10 Not exactly a Tank Looks:6/10 Not all that bad The only car in the game from Citroen, and it is best suited to weaving in and out of traffic. It's a fairly small car, which probably explains why. Name:Daihatsu Hi-Jets Most Likely to be Found:Industrial Areas Colours found in:White usually, ocassionally a Dirty Yellow Colour or a blue Speed:2/10 not fast Acceleration:2/10 again, not your ideal racing car Handling:5/10 not all that bad Durability:5/10 It can take a few hits Looks:0/10 Ugh, I hate these vans! This is basically an Egg-Shaped Van, and I hate them, they look ugly, they're slow, and are to be used only at your most desperate hour! Name:Daihatsu Hi-Jets Pick-up Most Likely to be Found:2 or 3 places in Hyde Park. One of them is at a depot of vans, another is behind a few trees and a smallish building on next to a path. I think I found a third location, but a) I can't remember where it was b) it could have just been the second one Although Hyde Park is a maze, I know that I always stumble across them at some point or another. Colours found in:White, with Royal Parks insignia. Speed:4/10 Perhaps a bit faster than the Hi-jets van Acceleration:2/10 very slow starter though Handling:5/10 reasonable Durability:5/10 again, it isn't all that bad Looks:2/10 but only because it has grass/leaves in the back! This could be a rare vehicle, although I know that I have stumbled across them during missions. They can't be seen driving around, and are basically a Daihatsu Hi-Jets modified into a pick-up truck. it has grass/leaves in the back though! which is a good thing, maybe. At least that feature is unique! Name:Daihatsu Sirion Most Likely to be Found:All over the place Colours found in:A lot! (red, green, blue, I'm pretty certain I have seen black ones and white ones) Speed:4/10 Not too bad Acceleration:5/10 slightly better Handling:8/10 very good for weaving in and out of traffic Durability:4/10 not very durable though Looks:5/10 Exactly like a New Mini! I went through most of the game believing these were New Minis, until on the radio, I heard the Police Traffic Control or whatever they are called say "driving a red sirion". I'd never even heard of these before, so I had to do a search on the net. Anyway, just pretend they are new-minis, I know I do! Name:Double Decker Bus Most Likely to be Found:Everywhere, in the Bus Lane. Colours found in:Red, and they have 3 different adverts(see below) Speed:3/10 Like a Bus Acceleration:3/10 Like a Bus Handling:2/10 Like a Bus Durability:9/10 like a Bus Looks:4/10 Like a Bus!!! I gave it an extra mark because they're famous and it's cool to drive one London Buses are very common in The Getaway, and are usually seen in the Bus Lane. The 3 adverts on them, in order of commoness are: 1) "Natural Blonde Killer" an advert for the Musical, Chicago. 2) "Abba-solutely Fabulous" an advert for the Musical, Mama Mia 3) This is Football 2003, a game made by SCEE Name:Fiat Punto Most Likely to be Found:Again, everywhere Colours found in:Yellow, Brick-Red/Orange Light Blue Speed:5/10 It's a smallish car Acceleration:4/10 that isn't very fast Handling:8/10 Nice Handling though! Durability:4/10 not nice durablity however Looks:3/10 Ugly! It gained a mark because a lot of people where I live used to drive them(Now it's all Ford Fiesta/Ka/Focuses or Peugeot 206S) in like 1996. It's basically an ugly Fiat, like most Fiats really (can you believe that they own Ferrari with all those ugly cars!?). The back Slopes down is a brief description, they are good for weaving in and out of traffic with I suppose Name:Fire Engine Most Likely to be Found:On Disturbance in Soho, a bit down the street from the Republic. Colours found in:Red, with Fire Engine Insignia on it Speed:4/10 Won't get to every fire on time Acceleration:4/10 no wonder they're on strike! Handling:3/10 not all that good! Durability:9/10 It's a nice Behemoth in this department though! Looks:5/10 Fire Engines are kinda cool Basically, it's a vehicle in which firefighters clamber into to go out and put out fires. Unfortunately, there are none on the streets, so they must all be on strike, heh! (Firemen have been on strike in the UK recently in case you didn't know)It has a Siren though! Name:Golf Buggy/Cart (whatever you want to call it) Most Likely to be Found:It's in the northern Area of Hyde Park, near a set of crossroads. Just follow the yellow path until it is crossed over by a grey one, take the grey path down till you get to a set of crossroads, and it's to the left, in front of you hidden behind a group of bushes. Colours found in:White, with insignia on the small door Speed:6/10 not too bad when it gets going Acceleration:4/10 it's a golf buggy, don't expect it to be a Ferrari Handling:4/10 It's small Tyres mean it has low grip Durability:3/10 Can't take all that much either Looks:4/10 Like A Golf Cart This is the only one of three times I intend to mention GTA Vice city in this section, so bear with me. It's exactly like a "Caddy" From that game, except this one has a door. Basically, it's for transporting Golfers and there equipment around courses, not hardened criminals on the run from the Police and an Army of gangs! Name:Go-Kart Most Likely to be Found:Mansion on Bayswater road, just follow the road along until you can go south, keep going and you will see what I can best describe as a "rounded" road, which has a blue-ish fence next to it. There s a gap in this fence, go through it, along the path until you get to a mansion with two sports cars sitting outside. Look in the garage(do a 180 from where you entered) and look in the corner. Colours found in:Um, I can't give it a colour really. Speed:7/10 Not Bad! Acceleration:7/10 Nice for a go-kart Handling:4/10 like the Golf Buggy It's small Tyres mean it has low grip, but this adds to the fun! Durability:3/10 don't expect to collide head on with a Double Decker and come out the better off of the two! Looks:7/10 It's a Go-Kart! very nice! It has an invisible door! spooky! This is a great, original idea, and I like it, especially it's crazy handling. It's not wholly an ideal getaway car, because It can't take many hits, but it could squeze through gaps in traffic easily! Name:Honda Accord Most Likely to be Found:The Borough Area Colours found in:The vast majority are a sickly green or a pale blue Speed:5/10 I've seen worse... Acceleration:5/10 ... but I've also seen better! Handling:5/10 OK I guess Durability:7/10 Takes more hits that I thought it would have done! Looks:3/10 Not all that good It doesn't look particulary new, It looks like it is from the mid-1980's and drives how you would expect a car from that era to drive! Name:Honda Civic Most Likely to be Found:Triad Turf, which is very hard to pinpoint! I think there is one in the underground NCP Colours found in:Green, Purple(If the ones outside the crack house are Accords which I always thought they were, I didn't get a close look really) Speed:8/10 As you'd expect for Acceleration:7/10 a Triad car Handling:4/10 Doesn't take corners well Durability:6/10 Not all that bad really Looks:6/10 Not too bad! It's the Triads "second choice" car, and is reasonably fast, which isn't good when they are pursuing you and hunting you down! Still, it's Honda's best car in the game. Name:Jensen Interceptor Most Likely to be Found:North, look around King's Cross St. Pancras Station, I know I usually find them around there Colours found in:A horrible brown! also Banana Yellow and Red Speed:7/10 Quite Fast Acceleration:6/10 For an Old banger! Handling:4/10 Still, the handling is old Durability:4/10 and it can't take too many hits Looks:4/10 It has a large rear windscreen, and what's with the colour!?!?! Not bad in terms of sheer speed, but lacking in handling and durability, and a lack in all of these areas is a recipie for disaster! Name:Jensen SV8 Most Likely to be Found:Mayfair, City of London Colours found in:Green, Blue Speed:6/10 Speedy Acceleration:7/10 For an Old banger! Handling:5/10 Not too bad actually Durability:4/10 Can't take a lot of hits Looks:7/10 2 Seater Sports Car Basically, this is the other Jensen Car in the game. Again, it's good and speedy, but is lacking slightly on other fronts. Name:Lexus IS200 Most Likely to be Found:Everywhere Colours found in:Silver,Blue Speed:7/10 Reasonably Acceleration:8/10 Fast Handling:5/10 not too bad Durability:5/10 Can't take many hits Looks:5/10 Not too bad This is just a basic Lexus car, it's the only non-gang one however, and is often cruising down the starting street for free-roaming mode, Malborough Road. Name:Lexus LS430 Most Likely to be Found:Bethnall Green Mob Turf, ie South of the River Non-Gang Version in Soho Colours found in:Silver/Cream Speed:8/10 It has to be fast Acceleration:8/10 because it's a gang car Handling:4/10 a bit ropey Durability:7/10 It takes a bit of punishment though Looks:6/10 Better than the IS200 This is the Bethnall Green Mobs "Primary Car" and is suprisingly able to take a fair amount of punishment before giving in. *Thanks to the pornicater for pointing out my error* Name:Lexus SC430 Most Likely to be Found:Collins Gang Turf, ie Soho Colours found in:Dark Blue, White Speed:7/10 Quite Acceleration:8/10 Nippy Handling:6/10 It can handle corners OK Durability:5/10 Not too durable Looks:8/10 Quite nice! This is the Collins gang car, and to make up for the fact that they only have one car, it has two colours instead. A nice car on which you can rely on to make an escape Name:Lorry Most Likely to be Found:Industrial Areas Colours found in:White, with company name(random each time) on side Speed:3/10 It's a Lorry Acceleration:3/10 So don't hold your breath Handling:3/10 Poor Durability:9/10 Go on, get in it's way, I dare you! Looks:3/10 Like a Lorry This is basically a Lorry of an unknown manufacturer. Like the London Bus, you get an inside erm cockpit I suppose is the right word for it, view. Name:Lotus Elise Most Likely to be Found:Mansion on Bayswater road, just follow the road along until you can go south, keep going and you will see what I can best describe as a "rounded" road, which has a blue-ish fence next to it. There s a gap in this fence, go through it, along the path until you get to a mansion with two sports cars sitting outside. Look in the garage and you will see it. The second is at the lock-up of Charlie's that Frank Carter raided on the mission "The Jolson Files" Colours found in:White Speed:9/10 nnnniiii Acceleration:9/10 cccceeee!!!! Handling:5/10 not all that bad! Durability:5/10 can't take a lot of hits! Looks:9/10 Sweet! First thing:It has doors like the Delorean in Back to the Future, in that they open vertically, and Second Thing:Second mention of GTA Vice City out of three, it looks just like an Infernus This thing is FAST! it's a very nice car to cruise around in, because it looks so cool, and also it's a good getaway car too. It and the TVR seem to be Twins, they always follow each other around, except in one place, no wait, two places where the TVR is on it's own. Name:Lotus Elite Most Likely to be Found:City of London Colours found in:Green Speed:7/10 Kinda Fast Acceleration:8/10 Kinda Fast again Handling:3/10 Not too easy to get to grips with Durability:4/10 Can't take being hit too often all that well Looks:7/10 Classic Sports Car! The Above statement of "Classic Sports Car" basically sums up the Lotus Elite well, it's not as good as the Elise or the Espirit, and lacks modern steering aids Name:Lotus Espirit Most Likely to be Found:If you head along Marylebone Road, in the district of believe it or not, Marylebone. Head West along this road, and a little alley should be on your right, which is where a certain car is Colours found in:Silver Speed:8/10 Good Acceleration:8/10 All Lotuses have good acceleration! Handling:5/10 And Fairly Good Handling Durability:5/10 But can't take much damage! Looks:7/10 They always look good though This is another Hidden Lotus Car(One more still to come!) and it's basically a typical Lotus for all the points which I just summed up, a nice car if you want to just cruise the streets of London. Name:Lotus 7 MKII Roadster Most Likely to be Found:You start with it in Free Roaming Mode Colours found in:Purple Speed:8/10 Fast Acceleration:9/10 Fast Handling:4/10 Nicht zu gut Durability:3/10 doesn't survive many hits Looks:8/10 Slick! This is called a "roadster" but I cannot see how! I think I can honestly say that other than on The Getaway, I have NEVER seen one on the roads! It's more of a racing car, really. In GTA:London (not a reference to the modern version) it was called the "Locust 7" So I guess it could have been on the streets in 1969, but now it is 2003, so it's unlikely that there are any on the roads today. Name:MG ZT Most Likely to be Found:City of London Colours found in:Light Blue, Light yellow Speed:7/10 Nice, Nippy Acceleration:6/10 Car! Handling:5/10 Not too bad really Durability:5/10 Can take several hits Looks:7/10 Very nice indeed! The only MG Car in the game, It's a shame that other MGs aren't in it, but this one will have to do. Not that I'm complaining, it's quite a nice car and not too bad as a getaway vehicle Name:Nissan Micra Most Likely to be Found:Anywhere North of the River Colours found in:Light Blue, Green Speed:4/10 Quite Slow Acceleration:5/10 Same Handling:8/10 Good Handling though Durability:3/10 Can't take a lot of hits Looks:5/10 Nothing Special, Nothing overly ugly Basically it's a small city car, which although is slow, it's a brilliant vehicle for weaving in and out of traffic with Name:Nissan Skyline GTR Most Likely to be Found:Piccadily Circus, Triad Turf. A hidden one can be found in this location. Mansion on Bayswater road, just follow the road along until you can go south, keep going and you will see what I can best describe as a "rounded" road, which has a blue-ish fence next to it. There s a gap in this fence, go through it, along the path until you get to a mansion with two sports cars sitting outside. The white one on the left is the Skyline. Colours found in:Black/White Speed:7/10 Fairly Fast Acceleration:8/10 Quick off the mark Handling:5/10 OK, there are worse than it Durability:5/10 Again, there are less durable cars Looks:6/10 not too bad! This is the Triads "primary car" and they use it a lot. They can often be seen around Piccadilly Circus, for some unknown reason. The Skyline is a fairly fast car, and is fun to race around London in. It also makes a good getaway Vehicle. Name:Peugeot 306 Most Likely to be Found:Anywhere North of the River Colours found in:Red, Brownish-Yellow Speed:6/10 OK for a small car Acceleration:5/10 Fairly Average Handling:8/10 Very Nice Handling Durability:4/10 Can take a little bit of damage Looks:5/10 OK, it has a "GB" Car sticker on the back which is kinda cool! This is probably the best of the small City Cars, which is probably why the Police use it(in this game at least) As I said before, every eingle one of these has a "GB" Sticker on it, which is kinda weird but also kinda cool Name:Peugeot 306 "Boy Racer" Most Likely to be Found:If you go to Horseferry Road(J14) on the south side of this road is an alley leading to a small underground car park with some burnt out cars in it. The boy racer is hidden behind a wall and is tucked into a corner Colours found in:Yellow Speed:7/10 It's been Souped up! Acceleration:7/10 So what do you expect? Handling:8/10 Good handling Durability:4/10 Shame it can't take much damage Looks:7/10 So Cool! Well, it's a good imitation of a Boy Racer car, what with the Spoiler and the Speakers in the back and everything! This is probably the best of the three Peugeot 306's, but I wouldn't ever consider showing off to your mates in a REAL boy racer car, because everyone laughs at boy racers! At least I do. This isn't a pure Boy Racer car, it needs to be an older model of car Name:Police Peugeot 306 Most Likely to be Found:All over the City Colours found in:White, with fluorescant yellow bands on the side, Police markings. Speed:6/10 OK for a small car Acceleration:5/10 Fairly Average Handling:8/10 Very Nice Handling Durability:5/10 Can take a little bit more damage Looks:5/10 OK, it isn't an especially nice Police Car This is just the basic Partol Car, so don't expect Cops in this to be chasing you for very long unless you are in Free Roaming Mode, but even then you can lose them because they aren't in an especially fast car. L3 activates it's siren. Name:Police Van Most Likely to be Found:In roadblocks Colours found in:White, basic Police livery Speed:4/10 It's a van Acceleration:5/10 But it goes OK Handling:4/10 Not too hot on corners Durability:8/10 It can take punishment though! Looks:6/10 It's cool driving in one of these! It's your basic Police Riot Van, used to take Officers to places where there are, well riots! In real life, they also have a cage at the back where Prisoners go. L3 turns on it's siren. Name:Police Vauxhall Vectra Most Likely to be Found:When you've been misbehaving, which tends to happen all to frequently Colours found in:White, with an Fluorescant Orange/Red Stripe down it Speed:7/10 Hey, the Cops need to keep up with you! Acceleration:9/10 Extremely quick to get to top speed Handling:5/10 Fairly good Durability:6/10 Knows how to take Punishment Looks:6/10 I guess they look kinda cool A good all-round car, and easily the best Police and indeed emergency services vehicle in the game. Unfortunately, you can't see them for love or money in Freeroaming mode.L3 activates it's siren. Name:Prison Transport Van Most Likely to be Found:On the missions "Aiding and Abetting" and "Escort Duty" Colours found in:Grey Speed:*estimate* 4/10 Acceleration:*estimate* 4/10 Handling:*estimate* 4/10 Durability:*estimate* 8/10 Looks:6/10 Kinda cool, it's the type of Van serial killers get put in Basically, I have been unable to capture one and steal it, as in both missions the thing drives off like a bullet, and even if you smash it off the road it will find a way through. At the time, Jake Jolson is contained within the van. Name:Range Rover Most Likely to be Found:East-End, Also south of the river Colours found in:Silver, Brown, Green Speed:4/10 Nothing Acceleration:5/10 Special Handling:6/10 Not too bad, but the vehicle itself is very wide Durability:7/10 Can take several hits before going down Looks:5/10 OK I suppose This is basically a Land Rover or as people from the USA call them, an "SUV" basically it's the kinda thing you'd wantif you lived in somewhere with bad terrain, not in an urban area(even though many people choose to have them in urban areas anyway, which kinda undermines the point of them) Name:Renault Espace Most Likely to be Found:North of the river, mainly Colours found in:Green, Blue Speed:5/10 Nothing Special Acceleration:5/10 Again, just average Handling:4/10 nothing special again Durability:6/10 it's average! Looks:4/10 Average The word average really does sum up this people carrier, I can't really see why anyone would want to drive one, but if it's the only vehicle near you, then go for it. Name:Renault Laguna Estate Most Likely to be Found:North of the River, look around Hyde Park Colours found in:Green, Light Blue, a silverish colour Speed:6/10 Not too bad Acceleration:5/10 reasonable Handling:6/10 Fair Durability:5/10 OK Looks:5/10 This car is just slightly above average, and is Renault's best car in the game. It's one of two estate cars in the game, and if it's the nearest thing to you, then go for it! Name:Rover SD1 Yardie edition Most Likely to be Found:Clerkenwell - Yardie Turf Colours found in:Purple, with yellow wheels Speed:7/10 Fast again Acceleration:8/10 Average gang car really Handling:5/10 OK handling Durability:6/10 OK Durability Looks:7/10 It has a unqiue charm I guess This is the Yardies "Primary Car" and isn't uncommon on the streets of Clerkenwell. It reminds me of something, but I don't know what. The Yardies have souped it up quite a bit htough, and it even has a rear wing. Name:Rover SD1 Most Likely to be Found:South of the River Colours found in:Brown Speed:4/10 not good Acceleration:5/10 OK Handling:6/10 Quite good Durability:4/10 Can't handle big pile ups Looks:3/10 Awful This is just a horrible car, avoid it like the Plague, it looks ugly, and it drives slow. I would forgive it if it was something unique like a Van, or a London Bus or Taxi, but it's just a dull 80's looking car Name:Rover 75 Most Likely to be Found:Southwark (Bethnall Turf)or north of the river Colours found in:Red, green, blue, black Speed:7/10 Above average Acceleration:8/10 Quite good Handling:5/10 Fair Durability:6/10 Can Take a few hits Looks:7/10 Looks like a Jag to me! This is the Bethnall Green Mob's "Second Car" It's basically an average gang car, but an above average road car.The Bethnall Mob use it to kidnap Alex Hammond. It looks quite a bit like a Jag Name:Saab Concept Car Most Likely to be Found:Two locations, the first one is on the bottom floor of the NCP Carpark in Chinatown, which is just south of Shaftsbury Avenue (umarked on map, not Shaftsbury Avenue, the chinatown street) or outside Charlie's warehouse in "The Jolson Files" Colours found in:White Speed:8/10 fast! Acceleration:7/10 Again, quite good Handling:6/10 not too bad on corners either Durability:6/10 It will last a while Looks:8/10 Very Nice! It's got kind of a 1950's vision of transport in the year 2000 feel to it. The indicator/reverse/brake lights at the back are cool! Basically, this is a concept car from swedish manufacturer Saab, and therefore you will never see them on the streets. End of story! Name:Saab 900 Most Likely to be Found:Everywhere Colours found in: A lot! Black, red, yellow well, maybe that's not a lot but that's only the ones I found Speed:7/10 quite fast really Acceleration:5/10 Average acceleration Handling:5/10 It's handling isn't all that bad Durability:4/10 It can take few hits Looks:2/10 It was beaten with an ugly stick This is basically an old-ish car, probably from the late 1980's. It is suprisingly fast for a car that looks and is as old as it is Name:Saab 9-3 Most Likely to be Found:Upmarket Areas Colours found in:Dark Blue, Black Speed:7/10 fast Acceleration:6/10 better off the mark than the Saab 900 Handling:4/10 Doesn't handle very well Durability:5/10 OK Looks:4/10 Like a Brick This is basically a modern looking Saab 900, which looks better(but is till ugly) and accelerates better, that's all I can say about it really. Name:Tank Most Likely to be Found:Inside an area of black fence that stretches down along Birdcage walk, just south of the Queen's house,(well, it's slightly bigger than your average house) Buckingham Palace. Colours found in:Green Speed:3/10 Not all that good Acceleration:3/10 *same* Handling:3/10 like a brick Durability:10/10 LIKE A TANK!!!!!(It goes to black smoke easily, but it takes ages to catch on fire) Looks:6/10 OK, it doesn't have tank tracks, it just has tyres This is well, a tank! Pressing L3 fires it's weapon, which basically causes the same explosions thta oil barrels cause when they explode, a few feet away from the Tank. Often, cars hit by the gun often veer to the right for no reason, so if you are attacking oncoming traffic, they will probably smash into you. It's great fun firing it at pedestrians, and watching as the explosion happens, half a second passes, then the pedestrian gets flung back on fire! This is the last Vice City reference in this section, this tank cannot run over vehicles like the Rhino in Vice City, because it doesn't have tank tracks. So don't even try! Name:Taxi Most Likely to be Found:Everywhere! Colours found in:Black, Dark Green, Maroon Speed:5/10 OK Acceleration:3/10 Not that good really Handling:5/10 Fair Durability:7/10 Will take a hit or 5 Looks:7/10 Like a London Cab! London Black Taxis are always good, but for some reason most of the ones on The Getaway seem to be Green. Unfortunately, there isn't a London Taxi Mode, but the Taxis are able to smash other cars out of the way. Name:Tow-Truck Most Likely to be Found:There is one parked on the side of the road on St. James Street Colours found in:White Speed:3/10 Not good Acceleration:3/10 Again, not good Handling:2/10 Poor Durability:7/10 OK Looks:4/10 Reasonable There may be more than one of these, but I only know the location of one of them. They are often in front of big ramps, which can be used to sent your car up into the air, and if you go slowly you can land on the tow-truck, which is kinda cool. The tow-truck itself isn't really any good. Name:Toyota Hi-Ace Most Likely to be Found:Industrial Areas Colours found in:Blueish-Grey Speed:3/10 not good Acceleration:2/10 poor Handling:2/10 Shameful Durability:5/10 OK Looks:1/10 Like a stretched out Hi-Jets! ugh! Basically, this is a Hi-Jets with an extra panel in the side, it's just an awful looking van, which should be avoided Name:Toyota Townace Most Likely to be Found:Industrial Areas Colours found in:HORRIBLE colours! pale orange, pale green ugh! Speed:3/10 poor Acceleration:2/10 abysmal Handling:3/10 rubbish Durability:4/10 not good Looks:1/10 Like a Camper van version of the Hi-Jets Avoid this one too, I hate Toyota for both of the above vans, or rather the guy who designed them! Name:Toyota MR2 Most Likely to be Found:everywhere north of the river Colours found in:Red, Yellow Speed:6/10 reasonably fast Acceleration:5/10 OK Handling:4/10 Reasonable Durability:5/10 Average Looks:4/10 OK, but slightly too "square-based" You are likely to find these wherever you go north of the river, and you could find some south of it too. These are semi-fast cars, which have a back wing for some reason Name:Toyota Corolla Most Likely to be Found:Everywhere Colours found in:Green, Red, A greyish-Bluish-Greenish colour Speed:5/10 Moderate Acceleration:5/10 OK Handling:5/10 average steering Durability:4/10 Doesn't take a whole lot to send it to the scrap heap Looks:6/10 Not too bad These are found everywhere, and there seems to be quite a few south of the river. These look like they're going to perform better than they do, so don't fall fo it! Name:Transit? Most Likely to be Found:everywhere Colours found in:Several Designs White and Plain(white van man!) Red with Royal Mail Designs Grey with BT Designs (filthy business only) Grey with Fed-Ex designs Yellow and Green with City Link designs Speed:4/10 OK Acceleration:5/10 Again, it's OK
Handling:4/10 not too bad
Durability:7/10 can take a pounding
Looks:5/10 Like a Transit
This looks exactly like a transit, but with no Ford Markings on them. Indeed,
there is an Oval shape left blank at the front of the van. I think Ford
pulled out of the Getaway at one point(I heard the ordinary Police Cars were
going to be Ford Fiestas) and as Team Soho couldn't find another similar van
they decided to keep this and take off Ford insignia.

Name:TVR Tuscan Speed 6 (Me thinks!)
Most Likely to be Found:Mansion on Bayswater road, just follow the road
along until you can go south, keep going and you will see what I can best
describe as a "rounded" road, which has a blue-ish fence next to it. There
s a gap in this fence, go through it, along the path until you get to a
mansion with two sports cars sitting outside. the one on the right is the
TVR. The second is at the lock-up of Charlie's that Frank Carter raided on
the mission "The Jolson Files"

Another location, sent to me by Xx Kolchak xX, and as I am very lazy I copied
and pasted the e-mail. Sue me.

First, I'd like to thank you for the great vehicle
guide. It's helped me very well, and I know it takes
quite a while to write something like that up.

Now, on to the business. I live in Oklahoma, so I have
the American version of the game and no map (not to
mention a bad habit of driving on the wrong side of
the road.) I think I have found another location for
the TVR. Start "A touch of class" and drive straight
out on to the road that curves a little and decends a
bit. Drive past the first intersection, and watch your
right hand side. There will be a gas station. Drive in
and turn right at the back wall. There is a large
black sports car that I have been told is a TVR. I
don't know whether it is there on the free roam or
not, as I haven't beaten the game yet. I'm not sure if
this location is mentioned on your guide, but It isn't
on the TVR section. (as I said, someone told me it was
the TVR, I'm still not sure.)

I hope it helped, and if it didn't feel free to
verbally abuse me in a reply

I was tempted to do this, because verbally abusing people is always great fun, but
as he was nice about the guide, I let him off.

Colours found in:Dark Blue
Speed:9/10 Oh yes!
Acceleration:9/10 Vrrooom!
Handling:6/10 Fairly good
Durability:5/10 OK
Looks:10/10 Stunning! just stunning!
This is my favourite car and probably the best car in the game. It's no secret
that Liam drives one and also that Charlie has one stashed at his garage at
his house in mayfair. The only TVR in the game is stunning!

Name:Vauxhall Astra Estate Van
Most Likely to be Found:Hyde Park, NCP Carpark
Colours found in:Blue, Red
Speed:5/10 OK
Acceleration:6/10 quite good
Handling:5/10 OK
Durability:6/10 reasonable
Looks:5/10 Not too good
My dad used to drive one of these, only instead of being a van, it had the
windows at the side of it rather than paint, making it a car. It's the
kind of thing electricians and plumbers would drive, if you ask me

Name:Vauxhall Vectra
Most Likely to be Found:DC Carter's earlier missions
Colours found in:Silver
Speed:8/10 Carter Chose a good car!
Acceleration:9/10 a very good car!
Handling:5/10 reasonable
Durability:6/10 good
Looks:8/10 Very Slick!
This is DC Carter's undercover Police car, it looks and drives good. It has
a siren, which is activated by L3.

*****************************************************************************

4.0 Emergency Vehicles
These are all vehicles used by the emergency services, and all have pretty
sirens that can be activated with L3!
And as I am doing it in the same way, I might as well include the
little thing and example thing. All cars will be listed in alphabetical
order, and will be assessed under the following criteria (makes me sound
like a driving instructor or something)

Note, this is all false! FALSE FALES FALSE! no, not the guide itself, this
demo example, although the criteria will remain the same, got it?

Also, I will include what emergency service uses them

Name: eg Steamroller!
Most likely to be found: eg In the River!
Emergency Service:Mountain Rescue
Colours found in:eg Pink, Brown, Orange. (any I know of, I can't list them all if
I don't know them all!)
Speed:eg 6/10 it goes quite fast, doesn't it?
Acceleration:eg 2/10 damn slow off the mark
Handling:eg 1/10 Like a dead Whale
Durablity:eg 10/10 It'll take a fair few hits
Looks:eg 5/10 Like a Steamroller!
The Steamroller is a car. Well no, it isn't. I wouldn't really use one to
escape in. It basically looks like a steamroller, and if you don't know what
one of them is, then I feel sorry for you, really I do.

And with no further wait, here they all are!

Name:Ambulance
Most Likely to be Found:Around the Hospital(usually in pairs) which is on
Tottenham Court road, if memory serves me correct
Emergency Service:Ambulance Service

Speed:4/10 Not all that fast
Acceleration:3/10 Again, it isn't exactly a Ferrari
Handling:3/10 Not all that good
Durability:7/10 It knows how to take a hit
Looks:4/10 Ambulances are ugly, but I guess it's cool driving around in one.
This is an Ambulance! they are driven only by paramedics. You can also
activate the siren with the L3. It's ironic because in one of Carter's
missions where you have to take Joe to the hospital, Carter says "I won't
wait for the Ambulance" even though when you go down the road, there's loads
all driving together.

Name:Fire Engine
Most Likely to be Found:On Disturbance in Soho, a bit down the street from the
Republic.
Emergency Service:Fire Brigade

Acceleration:4/10 no wonder they're on strike!
Handling:3/10 not all that good!
Durability:9/10 It's a nice Behemoth in this department though!
Looks:5/10 Fire Engines are kinda cool
Basically, it's a vehicle in which firefighters clamber into to go out and
put out fires. Unfortunately, there are none on the streets, so they must
all be on strike, heh! (Firemen have been on strike in the UK recently in
case you didn't know)It has a Siren though!

Name:Police Peugeot 306
Most Likely to be Found:All over the City
Emergency Service:Police Force

markings.
Speed:6/10 OK for a small car
Acceleration:5/10 Fairly Average
Handling:8/10 Very Nice Handling
Durability:5/10 Can take a little bit more damage
Looks:5/10 OK, it isn't an especially nice Police Car
This is just the basic Partol Car, so don't expect Cops in this to be
chasing you for very long unless you are in Free Roaming Mode, but even
then you can lose them because they aren't in an especially fast car. L3
activates it's siren.

Name:Police Van
Most Likely to be Found:In roadblocks
Emergency Service:Police Force
Colours found in:White, basic Police livery
Speed:4/10 It's a van
Acceleration:5/10 But it goes OK
Handling:4/10 Not too hot on corners
Durability:8/10 It can take punishment though!
Looks:6/10 It's cool driving in one of these!
It's your basic Police Riot Van, used to take Officers to places where there
are, well riots! In real life, they also have a cage at the back where
Prisoners go. L3 turns on it's siren.

Name:Police Vauxhall Vectra
Most Likely to be Found:When you've been misbehaving, which tends to happen
all to frequently

Acceleration:9/10 Extremely quick to get to top speed
Handling:5/10 Fairly good
Durability:6/10 Knows how to take Punishment
Looks:6/10 I guess they look kinda cool
A good all-round car, and easily the best Police and indeed emergency
services vehicle in the game. Unfortunately, you can't see them for love or
money in Freeroaming mode.L3 activates it's siren.

Name:Prison Transport Van
Most Likely to be Found:On the missions "Aiding and Abetting" and "Escort
Duty"
Emergency Service:Police Force
Colours found in:Grey
Speed:*estimate* 4/10
Acceleration:*estimate* 4/10
Handling:*estimate* 4/10
Durability:*estimate* 8/10
Looks:6/10 Kinda cool, it's the type of Van serial killers get put in
Basically, I have been unable to capture one and steal it, as in both
missions the thing drives off like a bullet, and even if you smash it off
the road it will find a way through. At the time, Jake Jolson is contained
within the van.

Name:Vauxhall Vectra
Most Likely to be Found:DC Carter's earlier missions

This is DC Carter's undercover Police car, it looks and drives good. It has
a siren, which is activated by L3.

Vehicles that only appear in certain missions and no-where else are here.

Again, I am using the same stuff so I will use the same intro. All cars will
be listed in alphabetical order, and will be assessed under the following
criteria (makes me sound like a driving instructor or something)

Note, this is all false! FALSE FALES FALSE! no, not the guide itself, this
demo example, although the criteria will remain the same, got it?

One more thing, a "Mission appeared in criteria" will appear instead of
"most likely to be found"

Name: eg Steamroller!
Mission Appeared in:eg Land of Hope and Glory
Colours found in:eg Pink, Brown, Orange. (any I know of, I can't list them all if
I don't know them all!)

Name:Prison Transport Van
Missions Appeared in"Aiding and Abetting" and "Escort Duty"
Colours found in:Grey
Speed:*estimate* 4/10
Acceleration:*estimate* 4/10
Handling:*estimate* 4/10
Durability:*estimate* 8/10
Looks:6/10 Kinda cool, it's the type of Van serial killers get put in
Basically, I have been unable to capture one and steal it, as in both
missions the thing drives off like a bullet, and even if you smash it off
the road it will find a way through. At the time, Jake Jolson is contained
within the van.

Name:BT Transit?
Mission Appeared in:Filtyh Business
Colours found in:Grey with BT Designs
Speed:4/10 OK
Acceleration:5/10 Again, it's OK
Handling:4/10 not too bad
Durability:7/10 can take a pounding
Looks:5/10 Like a Transit
This looks exactly like a transit, but with no Ford Markings on them. Indeed,
there is an Oval shape left blank at the front of the van. I think Ford
pulled out of the Getaway at one point(I heard the ordinary Police Cars were
going to be Ford Fiestas) and as Team Soho couldn't find another similar van
they decided to keep this and take off Ford insignia.Basically just a BT
repair van.

Name:Vauxhall Vectra
Missions appeared in:DC Carter's earlier missions
Colours found in:Silver
Speed:8/10 Carter Chose a good car!
Acceleration:9/10 a very good car!
Handling:5/10 reasonable
Durability:6/10 good
Looks:8/10 Very Slick!
This is DC Carter's undercover Police car, it looks and drives good. It has
a siren, which is activated by L3.

6.0 Hidden Vehicles
"The 10 Hidden Vehicles" are here, shame there's 12 of them really, I guess
we'll never know which ones are supposed to be the 10 secret ones until
Team Soho tells us. I have my suspicions about some, I think it's most
likely to be the Daihatsu Jets Pick-up and the MKII Roadster.

Name: eg Steamroller!
Most likely to be found: eg In the River!
Colours found in:eg Pink, Brown, Orange.

Name:Daihatsu Hi-Jets Pick-up
Most Likely to be Found:2 or 3 places in Hyde Park. One of them is at a depot
of vans, another is behind a few trees and a smallish building on next to a
path. I think I found a third location, but
a) I can't remember where it was
b) it could have just been the second one
Although Hyde Park is a maze, I know that I always stumble across them at some
point or another.
Colours found in:White, with Royal Parks insignia.
Speed:4/10 Perhaps a bit faster than the Hi-jets van
Acceleration:2/10 very slow starter though
Handling:5/10 reasonable
Durability:5/10 again, it isn't all that bad
Looks:2/10 but only because it has grass/leaves in the back!
This could be a rare vehicle, although I know that I have stumbled across
them during missions. They can't be seen driving around, and are basically
a Daihatsu Hi-Jets modified into a pick-up truck. it has grass/leaves in
the back though! which is a good thing, maybe. At least that feature is
unique!

Name:Golf Buggy/Cart (whatever you want to call it)
Most Likely to be Found:It's in the northern Area of Hyde Park, near a
set of crossroads. Just follow the yellow path until it is crossed over
by a grey one, take the grey path down till you get to a set of crossroads,
and it's to the left, in front of you hidden behind a group of bushes.
Colours found in:White, with insignia on the small door
Speed:6/10 not too bad when it gets going
Acceleration:4/10 it's a golf buggy, don't expect it to be a Ferrari
Handling:4/10 It's small Tyres mean it has low grip
Durability:3/10 Can't take all that much either
Looks:4/10 Like A Golf Cart
This is the only one of two times I intend to mention GTA Vice city in
this section, so bear with me. It's exactly like a "Caddy" From that game,
except this one has a door. Basically, it's for transporting Golfers and
there equipment around courses, not hardened criminals on the run from
the Police and an Army of gangs!

Name:Go-Kart
Most Likely to be Found:Mansion on Bayswater road, just follow the road
along until you can go south, keep going and you will see what I can best
describe as a "rounded" road, which has a blue-ish fence next to it. There
s a gap in this fence, go through it, along the path until you get to a
mansion with two sports cars sitting outside. Look in the garage(do a 180
from where you entered) and look in the corner.
Colours found in:Um, I can't give it a colour really.
Speed:7/10 Not Bad!
Acceleration:7/10 Nice for a go-kart
Handling:4/10 like the Golf Buggy It's small Tyres mean it has low grip,
but this adds to the fun!
Durability:3/10 don't expect to collide head on with a Double Decker and
come out the better off of the two!
Looks:7/10 It's a Go-Kart! very nice!
It has an invisible door! spooky! This is a great, original idea, and I like
it, especially it's crazy handling. It's not wholly an ideal getaway car,
because It can't take many hits, but it could squeze through gaps in traffic
easily!

Name:Lotus Elise
Most Likely to be Found:Mansion on Bayswater road, just follow the road
along until you can go south, keep going and you will see what I can best
describe as a "rounded" road, which has a blue-ish fence next to it. There
s a gap in this fence, go through it, along the path until you get to a
mansion with two sports cars sitting outside. Look in the garage and you will
see it. The second is at the lock-up of Charlie's that Frank Carter raided on
the mission "The Jolson Files"
Colours found in:White
Speed:9/10 nnnniiii
Acceleration:9/10 cccceeee!!!!
Handling:6/10 not all that bad!
Durability:5/10 can't take a lot of hits!
Looks:9/10 Sweet! First thing:It has doors like the Delorean in Back to the
Future, in that they open vertically, and Second Thing:Second mention of
GTA Vice City out of three, it looks just like an Infernus
This thing is FAST! it's a very nice car to cruise around in, because it
looks so cool, and also it's a good getaway car too. It and the TVR seem
to be Twins, they always follow each other around, except in one place, no
wait, two places where the TVR is on it's own.

Name:Lotus Espirit
Most Likely to be Found:If you head along Marylebone Road, in the district of
believe it or not, Marylebone. Head West along this road, and a little alley
should be on your right, which is where a certain car is
Colours found in:Silver
Speed:8/10 Good
Acceleration:8/10 All Lotuses have good acceleration!
Handling:5/10 And Fairly Good Handling
Durability:5/10 But can't take much damage!
Looks:7/10 They always look good though
This is another Hidden Lotus Car(One more still to come!) and it's basically
a typical Lotus for all the points which I just summed up, a nice car if
you want to just cruise the streets of London.

Name:Lotus 7 MKII Roadster
Most Likely to be Found:You start with it in Free Roaming Mode
Colours found in:Purple
Speed:8/10 Fast
Acceleration:9/10 Fast
Handling:4/10 Nicht zu gut
Durability:3/10 doesn't survive many hits
Looks:8/10 Slick!
This is called a "roadster" but I cannot see how! I think I can honestly
say that other than on The Getaway, I have NEVER seen one on the roads!
It's more of a racing car, really. In GTA:London (not a reference to the
modern version) it was called the "Locust 7" So I guess it could have
been on the streets in 1969, but now it is 2003, so it's unlikely that there
are any on the roads today.

OK, The stupidity of moi has been pointed out again:

The Lotus Seven you refer to as being out of date and not on the roads in
2002 in your guide iss lightly incorrect. The Lotus 7, has been around since
the 1950's, and was made by Lotus until the 70's. However, the car is still
made today by Caterham. There are loads of them on the roads, mostly in the
country and London. There are also 1000's of kitcars that people build that
look exactly like the real thing.( Makes include "Robin Hood" and "Super7").

Have a look for yourself on http://www.caterham.co.uk/ or for replicas,
http://www.automotive-links.com/mak/lot/cat.htm

I don't drive one myself! ...But I thought I'd update you!

Cheers for the great guide

Max

Hmmm..... 'tis no longer 2002, hee hee hee! and then again, I typed 2003 in that
bit. Sorry, I am in a vindictive mood today >:> but I doubt Max will care about
what I said, it's not like it's offensive...

Name:Nissan Skyline GTR
Most Likely to be Found:Mansion on Bayswater road, just follow the road
along until you can go south, keep going and you will see what I can best
describe as a "rounded" road, which has a blue-ish fence next to it. There
s a gap in this fence, go through it, along the path until you get to a
mansion with two sports cars sitting outside. The white one on the left is
the Skyline.
Colours found in:White
Speed:7/10 Fairly Fast
Acceleration:8/10 Quick off the mark
Handling:5/10 OK, there are worse than it
Durability:5/10 Again, there are less durable cars
Looks:6/10 not too bad!
The Skyline is a fairly fast car, and is fun to race around London in.
It also makes a good getaway Vehicle.

Name:Peugeot 306 "Boy Racer"
Most Likely to be Found:If you go to Horseferry Road(J14) on the south side
of this road is an alley leading to a small underground car park with some
burnt out cars in it. The boy racer is hidden behind a wall and is tucked
into a corner
Colours found in:Yellow
Speed:7/10 It's been Souped up!
Acceleration:7/10 So what do you expect?
Handling:8/10 Good handling
Durability:4/10 Shame it can't take much damage
Looks:7/10 So Cool! Well, it's a good imitation of a Boy Racer car, what with
the Spoiler and the Speakers in the back and everything!
This is probably the best of the three Peugeot 306's, but I wouldn't ever
consider showing off to your mates in a REAL boy racer car, because everyone
laughs at boy racers! At least I do. This isn't a pure Boy Racer car, it needs
to be an older model of car

Name:Saab Concept Car
Most Likely to be Found:Two locations, the first one is on the bottom floor
of the NCP Carpark in Chinatown, which is just south of Shaftsbury Avenue
(umarked on map, not Shaftsbury Avenue, the chinatown street) or outside
Charlie's warehouse in "The Jolson Files"
Colours found in:White
Speed:8/10 fast!
Acceleration:7/10 Again, quite good
Handling:6/10 not too bad on corners either
Durability:6/10 It will last a while
Looks:8/10 Very Nice! It's got kind of a 1950's vision of transport in the
year 2000 feel to it. The indicator/reverse/brake lights at the back are cool!
Basically, this is a concept car from swedish manufacturer Saab, and therefore
you will never see them on the streets. End of story

Name:Tank
Most Likely to be Found:Inside an area of black fence that stretches down
along Birdcage walk, just south of the Queen's house,(well, it's slightly
bigger than your average house) Buckingham Palace.
Colours found in:Green
Speed:3/10 Not all that good
Acceleration:3/10 *same*
Handling:3/10 like a brick
Durability:10/10 LIKE A TANK!!!!!(It goes to black smoke easily, but it
takes ages to catch on fire)
Looks:6/10 OK, it doesn't have tank tracks, it just has tyres
This is well, a tank! Pressing L3 fires it's weapon, which basically causes
the same explosions thta oil barrels cause when they explode, a few feet away
from the Tank. Often, cars hit by the gun often veer to the right for no reason,
so if you are attacking oncoming traffic, they will probably smash into you.
It's great fun firing it at pedestrians, and watching as the explosion happens,
half a second passes, then the pedestrian gets flung back on fire! This is the
last Vice City reference in this section, this tank cannot run over vehicles
like the Rhino in Vice City, because it doesn't have tank tracks. So don't
even try!

Name:Tow-Truck
Most Likely to be Found:There is one parked on the side of the road on St.
James Street
Colours found in:White
Speed:3/10 Not good
Acceleration:3/10 Again, not good
Handling:2/10 Poor
Durability:7/10 OK
Looks:4/10 Reasonable
There may be more than one of these, but I only know the location of one of
them. They are often in front of big ramps, which can be used to sent your
car up into the air, and if you go slowly you can land on the tow-truck,
which is kinda cool. The tow-truck itself isn't really any good.

Colours found in:Dark Blue
Speed:9/10 Oh yes!
Acceleration:9/10 Vrrooom!
Handling:6/10 Fairly good
Durability:5/10 OK
Looks:10/10 Stunning! just stunning!
This is my favourite car and probably the best car in the game. It's no secret
that Liam drives one and also that Charlie has one stashed at his garage at
his house in mayfair. The only TVR in the game is stunning!

7.0 Gang Vehicles
Vehicles that are driven by gangsters are all listed here

Again, I am using the same stuff so I will use the same intro. All cars will
be listed in alphabetical order, and will be assessed under the following
criteria (makes me sound like a driving instructor or something)

Note, this is all false! FALSE FALES FALSE! no, not the guide itself, this
demo example, although the criteria will remain the same, got it?

Name: eg Steamroller!
Most likely to be found: eg In the River!
Colours found in:eg Pink, Brown, Orange.

Bethnall Green Mob

Name:Lexus IS430
Most Likely to be Found:Bethnall Green Mob Turf, ie South of the River
Colours found in:Silver
Speed:8/10 It has to be fast
Acceleration:8/10 because it's a gang car
Handling:4/10 a bit ropey
Durability:7/10 It takes a bit of punishment though
Looks:6/10 Better than the IS200
This is the Bethnall Green Mobs "Primary Car" and is suprisingly able
to take a fair amount of punishment before giving in.

Name:Rover 75
Most Likely to be Found:Southwark (Bethnall Turf)
Colours found in:Red
Speed:7/10 Above average
Acceleration:8/10 Quite good
Handling:5/10 Fair
Durability:6/10 Can Take a few hits
Looks:7/10 Looks like a Jag to me!
This is the Bethnall Green Mob's "Second Car" It's basically an average
gang car, but an above average road car.The Bethnall Mob use it to kidnap
Alex Hammond.

Collins Gang

Name:Lexus SC430
Most Likely to be Found:Collins Gang Turf, ie Soho
Colours found in:Dark Blue, White
Speed:7/10 Quite
Acceleration:8/10 Nippy
Handling:6/10 It can handle corners OK
Durability:5/10 Not too durable
Looks:8/10 Quite nice!
This is the Collins gang car, and to make up for the fact that they
only have one car, it has two colours instead. A nice car on which you
can rely on to make an escape

14k Triads

Name:Honda Civic
Most Likely to be Found:Triad Turf, which is very hard to pinpoint! I think
there is one in the underground NCP
Colours found in:Green, Purple(If the ones outside the crack house are Accords
which I always thought they were, I didn't get a close look really)
Speed:8/10 As you'd expect for
Acceleration:7/10 a Triad car
Handling:4/10 Doesn't take corners well
Durability:6/10 Not all that bad really
Looks:6/10 Not too bad!
It's the Triads "second choice" car, and is reasonably fast, which isn't
good when they are pursuing you and hunting you down! Still, it's Honda's
best car in the game.

Name:Nissan Skyline GTR
Most Likely to be Found:Piccadily Circus, Triad Turf
Colours found in:Black
Speed:7/10 Fairly Fast
Acceleration:8/10 Quick off the mark
Handling:5/10 OK, there are worse than it
Durability:5/10 Again, there are less durable cars
Looks:6/10 not too bad!
This is the Triads "primary car" and they use it a lot. They can often be seen
around Piccadilly Circus, for some unknown reason.

Yardies

Name:Brabus S-Class
Most Likely to be Found:Yardie Turf, ie Clerkerwell
Colours found in:Purple
Speed:8/10 vrroom!
Acceleration:7/10 again, it's fast!
Handling:5/10 nothing wrong with the handling
Durability:4/10 Slamming it into things isn't the best of ideas
Looks:7/10 nice!
This is a car used exclusively by the Yardies(In that I haven't seen anyone
else using them). Good to cruise around in, but it isn't fun when they are
chasing you as they are lightning quick. It's a modified Mercedes SL and was
a very clever thing for Team Soho to do by slipping this one in under the
manufacturer, Brabus. It's the Yardie's "Second Choice" car

Name:Rover SD1 Yardie edition
Most Likely to be Found:Clerkenwell - Yardie Turf
Colours found in:Purple, with yellow wheels
Speed:7/10 Fast again
Acceleration:8/10 Average gang car really
Handling:5/10 OK handling
Durability:6/10 OK Durability
Looks:7/10 It has a unqiue charm I guess
This is the Yardies "Primary Car" and isn't uncommon on the streets of
Clerkenwell. It reminds me of something, but I don't know what. The Yardies
have souped it up quite a bit htough, and it even has a rear wing.

*****************************************************************************

8.0 Other Vehicles

This is for unusual Vehicles, like the the Sol Vita,
the Bus and the fork lift

Again, I am using the same stuff so I will use the same intro. All cars will
be listed in alphabetical order, and will be assessed under the following
criteria (makes me sound like a driving instructor or something)

Note, this is all false! FALSE FALES FALSE! no, not the guide itself, this
demo example, although the criteria will remain the same, got it?

Name: eg Steamroller!
Most likely to be found: eg In the River!
Colours found in:eg Pink, Brown, Orange.

Name:Bus
Most Likely to be Found:All over, but there's a lot in Southwark if you ask
me
Colours found in:Red
Speed:*Unknown* I'd estimate 3/10
Acceleration:*Unknown* I'd estimate 3/10
Handling:*Unknown* I'd estimate 2/10
Durability:*Unknown* I'd estimate 7/10
Looks:4/10 I do know this one! It looks ugly
For some reason known only to Team Soho, you can't actually get into the
single-decker buses. Where I live, these are white, but in London presumably
they are red.

OK, E-mail from Berriman
You say in tour car guide you can't get into the single decker red buses.
You can get in them, just go round to the drivers side and press
circle.

This puzzled me somewhat, because I knew I couldn't get into buses. So,
I e-mailed Berriman asking what version he had:

Mine is the one released after the BT van was taken off. They must have
added the option of being able to get in the single decker bus when they
re-released it!

So, there you have it, I would assume that:

- If you have the unedited UK/European version(such as myself) where there
is a BT Van on mission 7, you cannot get into single-deckers

- If you have If you have the edited UK/European version(such as Berriman)
where there is NOT a BT Van on mission 7, you can get into single-deckers

- If you have the US/North American version(such as well, Americans!) where there
you can get into single-deckers(And I ask for some Americans to check that out
  for me please!)

Thanks to Mishaal Jugessur for telling me about the next vehicle

Name:Fork Lift Truck
Most Likely to be Found:Outside the Warehouse on the first mission, aboard the
Sol Vita
Colours found in:White
Speed:2/10
Acceleration:3/10
Handling:3/10
Durability:1/10(It has an explosive barrel on the back!!!!!!!!)
Looks:2/10 Ugly
Not much you can do with these really...

Sol Vita
This isn't really a vehicle that you can drive in, but still, it's a vehicle
and this is a vehicle guide! All I can say without giving away too many spoilers
is that it is a big tanker, called the "Sol Vita". That's all you're getting
out of me!

9.0 Vehicle-Related Glitches

- Sometimes, when a car is shunted forwards when someone is getting out,
they will get out in mid-air in the same place!

- I was once driving along Kensington Road, and actually drove through the
end of the road in the MK II Roadster, and was actually driving on sky! All
the buildings then became unsolid

- Sometimes, Cars disappear or appear out of thin air

- Car numberplates are wrong - quite often newer cars get old number plates
and older cars get new numberplates

- On Mark's second mission, if you don't get in the Red Rover at the end of
it(I got into the red Fiat Punto at the Police road block) then the cutscene
still show Mark in the red Rover!

From:devon coile

- I was reading your vehicle guide for the getaway and you said to e mail
you glitches. I was wondering if you ever saw the glitch where the cops
cars go under ground and stick half way out the ground and shit like that?

From:Lance (Hmmm... Lance Vance? nah! this was supposed to be a VC free
zone, so DOH!)

- Love the guide, well done. I'm just up to the BT guy at the cop shop.
Anyway, I nicked a Toyota MR2 at the beginning and found when I went to the
yard and drove at high speed the car went through the doorway. I've not
completely read your guide yet but did you know this?
Cheers
Lance

10.0 Fun Things to do(In Vehicles, obviously)

- Trying to flip your car!
Two good places are the stairs at St Pancras Station and the Ramp on
St. James Road!

- As Carter(Hammond would get busted) Park two cars next to a cop cars doors
then shoot the cops inside!

11.0 Frequently asked questions

Q:Why isn't there any [insert car manufacturer here] cars in the game?
A:Because there isn't. The mean people at that company wouldn't let Team
Soho use their Vehicles in the Getaway.

Q:Why isn't there any [insert car manufacturer who is in the game here] [insert
car model that isn't in the game here] in the game?
A:Why would I know? Ask Team Soho

Q:Why is there a Jag in the Demo, but not in the full game?
A:Because Presumably, Jag pulled out at the last second

Q:Are there any Bikes/Helicopters/Planes/Boats in the game?
A:No, this isn't Vice City. There is one boat, not that you can actually drive
it, it's an interior location

Q:Where can I find [insert car here]?
A:Look in the relevant vehicles section

Q:Can I put cars in garages?
A:Again, this isn't Vice City

Q:I've seen other cars do drive-bys, so why can't I?
A:Well you can! well, not you personally, and not Mark Hammond or Frank Carter
for that matter. If you have a passenger on your car, or to be specific,
Eyebrows or Yasmin, they will stick their gun out the window and shoot the
hell out of pursuing Police or Gnag members.

Q:Can I flip my car?
A:Stop asking me GTA Related questions! Yes, but you'd be very lucky to do
so, I've tried a few times and my car just flipped itself back over instantly

Q:You said there is a BT Van on mission 7, but there isn't one!
A:That's not a question. Anyway, it's because BT feared that if a game
featured a BT Man getting killed(which you don't have to actually do) it
would spark off angry people trying to assassinate BT people. This is just
a guess, but the amount of BT repairmen who have been shot since The Getaway
came out is 0.

Q:Is there a Vigilante Mode/Taxi Mode/Firefighter Mode/Paramedic Mode etc?
A:No. This isn't Vice City. There was going to be a Taxi Mode, but it didn't
make it into the Getaway.

Q:Can you shoot people through windscreens like on Vice City?
A:Yes.But unless you have a good weapon and/or you blocked off the doors,
the person inside is likely to just get out before you can put the final
bullet into their heads

Q:Can I take Hostages into Cars?
A:Try it(no)

Q:Can DC Carter steal cars seeing as he is the Police?
A:Yes, and that is his excuse too

Q:Is there one of those Car Lists like Sunshine Autos or on GTA3
A:No No NO! This isn't Vice City!!!!

Q:Why is my car on fire?
A:Well, why don't you get a car in real life, and start smashing it into
stuff then come back and ask me

Q:Why is the handling on cars so crap?
A:It's called realism, Mr. Vercetti.

Q:What is that yellow light that keeps flashing?
A:Indicator lights, follow where they tell you to go, and then see what
happens.

Q:Are there any Unique Jumps?
A:This isn't Vice City, chances are if you can do something extreme in
Vice City, you probably can't do it on The Getaway.

Q:Why do ordinary patrol car cops have guns?
A:Because it would be too easy otherwise

Q:How do I complete [mission]?
A:This is a vehicle guide mate, not a mission guide. If you e-mailed me
I could probably help you with it, seeing as I have completed the game.
