In order to get to him, you must follow specific paths in Tales of Souls (specified later in this FAQ), WITHOUT USING A CONTINUE/ LOSING A BATTLE. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: Sweet! Is he playable? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A: NO. Sorry folks. You can unlock his profile after beating him, but that's it. I unlocked a bunch of stuff without clearing Chronicles of Souls, doing enough battles, or leveling up my CAS character. You sure you're reading your references right? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A: Okay, okay, I'll concede. While the BradyGames Strategy Guide (which was used as a reference to this guide) lists out everything that can be unlocked, there seems to be alternative ways of unlocking certain items without doing much in Chronicles of Swords. These alternative ways involve using the VS mode and your CAS characters. Unfortunately, I can't do any testing, as I lack that second controller needed for VS Mode. If you and your friends come across anything, give me a holler. Also, don't forget that all battles in all modes are counted. The count does NOT pertain to merely wins; it includes losses as well. And try as I might, I still can't find the match counter in the game. How can I know what the weapons can do?! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A: Okay, I've been getting this a lot, and there's a really easy way to remedy it: Step 1: Go to the character select screen (ToS, Practice, whatever) Step 2: Choose the character that you want. Now that little row of dots should show up, letting you browse among the weapons for that character. Step 3: Hit select. That's all there is to it. Once you've pressed select, it'll show the weapon properties of whatever item you've chosen. Choose to follow zasalamel and another branch becomes available. choose the 1st path to search for the Azure Knight thusly leading you into a battle with Revenant. Choose to stop <1st path> and you will face a Doppelganger of yourself. (no need to win) next you should face Raphael and your second QTE. Parry his brash attack with LEFT+G and show bringing you to your next opponent, Seong-Mina. Defeat her and you will be offered another branch. Choose the second path to go visit the man and you will come to the Labyrinth and your first opponent, Cervantes. Kill him and proceed into the depths of the labyrinth where an unknown soul
  • will be awaiting. Be cautious here, as the arena is dark, so seeing edges can be rather difficult and you must win this battle. Kill the Unknown soul and you will be presented with another branch. Proceed deeper into the labyrinth towards the darkness <2nd path> and you will face Olcadan DEFEAT OLCADAN. If you lose you will be shunted out of the dungeon, doomed to fight Zasalamel and then abyss. WIN THE FIGHT and you will gain Olcadan, If you don't already have him and proceed to Zasalamel. Send him to his final rest and he will absorb the swords, but instead of throwing the Soul Calibur down at you, the screen will go all white, sending you to the final showdown with NIGHT TERROR himself and your final QTE. F) Custom Character Development

Okay, so you've created your very own character! However, there's more to 
making a fighter than giving it clothes to wear; it has to know how to fight! 
In order to do so, you're going to have to spend some quality time with your 
custom character. The more battles you fight using the character, the more 
it will 'level up' and unlock other disciplines for you to use. 

*The quickest way to obtain these disciplines is as follows:*

"An easy way to get weapon disciplines for the create-a-soul classes (Thief, 
Ninja, etc.) is to play VS battles with just created characters of that class 
(Thief VS Thief) at 0% health 1 round/match...After about 50 (maybe less) 
matches you should have all the disciplines for that class...and be that much 
closer to other unlockables (i.e. the joke weapons). Repeat with all classes 
to get the disciplines for each. (And BTW Sword Master Class CANNOT USE souls 
(regular character) weapons)."

characters using the VS Mode trick in your FAQ. The numbers are:

12 battles for the 2nd Discipline
25 battles for the 3rd Discipline
    38 battles for the 4th (Soul) Discipline

Now, while this method of unlocking Disciplines is remarkably fast and 
efficient, it poses a problem for those of us that don't have that extra 
controller required for VS play. Just in case, you can always use your 
character in the Quick Play in the Soul Arena Mode. It'll take you a few 
playthroughs, but you'll be able to unlock Disciplines as well.

However you do it, you'll be able to choose from a wide variety of Disciplines. 
Here's a breakdown of the disciplines your character can use (In order of
