This is my very first FAQ and I hope that it will serve you well in completing this excellent RPG. Before we begin let me tell you what this guide includes. Steps to take in order to get the good ending, including the best time to do it and the cut of point. Obtaining the ultimate fusion's, Amon and Seraphic Radiance. Where to get all ultimate weapons and armors. Locations of lottery members including the SUPER SECRET (well not so secret anymore) #00. This is just a list of the major ones. Be sure to take caution when reading this if | |you have not yet completed the game. | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------- Asia -------------- Things to do here: The Erotic Book, Pit Fight #1, and Kowloon Fortress ~~~~ The Erotic Book ~~~~ This really isn't a side quest but you need it to get the ultimate fusion monster later down the road in Europe. So I will include this part here. The Erotic Book is located a room on the left hand side of the Kuihai Tower. BE SURE TO PICK IT UP! It's on the floor somewhere. Just run around until you see a "\^^/(heart: P)" mark over your head. ~~~~ Pit Fight #1 ~~~~ To tell you the truth I did not get very far in pit fights, as they are pretty tough. The reason being is you only get to fight one on one. If you plan on pit fighting use these tips: -Rest at an inn before fighting -Wear accessories that protect against Silence, Paralyses, and ring abnormalities. -Acupuncture your weapon -Use Yuri. The other characters are just too weak. -Carry PLENTY of healing and support items -Fight before entering the kuihai tower so you will be at a higher level. There are 3 kinds of enemies you will face: Normal, beefed up Boss', and beefed up Wind Shear. Normal monsters are easy but when you start fighting Yamajara's and those wind shears GOOD LUCK! Also there are other status effects then those mentioned above but those are the ones that are more deadly. I'm not sure how many times you have to fight in order to get a reward, but if you ever make it that far drop me a line and tell me. I will credit you with the information. Update: Thanks to LyssaJ for this info. Win 10 consecutive bouts and you get 5000 cash and an Anne's Cross. ~~~~ Kowloon Fortress ~~~~ Whether or not you participate in this side quest all depends on your reaction to Dehuai's torture on Alice. In order to get the quest you must answer the first option of all Dehuai's questions. If you don't you will never be able to complete it. First leave the Kuihai tower and head back to Shanghai. Once there go back to where the smugglers boat is and talk to the man on the pier. He says the boat is now ready for use. Get on the boat and answer yes to set off for Kowloon Fortress. When you get to Kowloon Fortress there is a silent peddler nearby. Talk to him and stock up on items. Be sure to buy and equip some Leonardo Bears for your entire party. Then continue along the path. Take the first set of stairs on your right. Go down the ladder and then climb up the next one on the right and go through the green door. The bottom shelf contains the Wugui room key. Go back to the first area and head up the last set of stairs. Continue to go up and then head left and up the next set of stairs. You should see a yellow door. Enter and then go through the door on the other side to get rid of theblocks. Continue up the stairs and when you reach the next floor cross the bridge (there is a lottery ticket in the yellow stuff) and continue up another flight of stairs. There is a save point up here and I suggest you use it. I also hope you bought some Leonardo Bears. *** BOSS: Cursed Puppet *** Hit Points: 1300 (approx.) Element: Darkness This is a pretty easy fight with those Leonardo Bears. One thing to keep in mind is that he absorbs all special attacks so stick with physical ones. Have Yuri and Margarate handle the attacking and use ZhuZhen to heal and distribute support items. If ZhuZhen has nourishing potion use that. If not then Thera leafs will have to do. The boss has 2 main special attacks, which can both cause instant death: Game of Death and Nightmare. Game of Death is no biggie, but Nightmare causes damage to all allies. If your whole party is low on HP Yuri's Heavens Fiend has a cure all special. Use that. -------------- Europe -------------- Things to do here: Pit Fight #2, Amon, Good Ending, The 3 forbidden documents, Ancient Ruins, Cave Temple, Seraphic Radiance, Margarets Confession ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |Note: Some of these side-quests must be done in order. I have | |indicated what ones by adding a PREQ notice. If there are prerequsite| |side-quests they will be listed there. | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~~ Pit Fight #2 ~~~~ After rescuing Koudelka the London Rats Hideout is home to the second Pit Fight. This pit fight is easier since you can level up better for it. This pit fight is just like before except there are more variety of bosses and enemies. Follow the same strategies as the first one and get your level above 50. It should be a piece of cake then. Here are the rewards for winning 10 consecutive bouts. //----------------------------| |Yuri |Seventh Key | |Alice |Crucifix | |Margarete |Tissues | |Zhuzhen |Silver Hand | |Keith |Belt of Thor | |Halley |Metal Jacket | |All Characters |Crystal Ring | |----------------------------// ~~~~ The 3 Forbidden Documents ~~~~ -Codex of Lurie On the floor where you fought Alber Simon in the Nemeton Monastary. You must do this after you hear the conversation between Koudelka and Halley. -Book of Rituals Take ZhuZhen to Nemeton. ZhuZhen will pray at the grave in front and then give you the book. -Emigre Document Go back to the orphanage. Jack is gone but the kids have stayed and they want to play hide and seek. Go straight from the lobby into the middle door and talk to the little kid. He will ask you to play hide and seek. You have one minute to find 4 kids scattered throughout the orphanage and then return to this kid to tell him. This is a pretty easy mini- game. The most common hiding spots are behind the pillars and in the crevices between furniture. Beware one of the kids will say that he's not one of them, but he is most definitely one of them. ~~~~ Ancient Ruins ~~~~ PREQ: The 3 Forbidden Documents This is an extra area that's required to advance over to some of the other side-quests. It's a labyrinth so be sure not to get lost. First of all take a look at your valuable section and read the Book of Rituals. Ancient Ruins should now appear on your map. Go there and enter. There are coloured lights that represent paths in each section of this dungeon. Your task is to enter the paths in the correct order. If you would like to figure it out on your own I'll give you a hint: THE COLOR'S OF THE RAINBOW Still can't figure it out? OK, here is the order: red, orange, yellow, green, sky blue, blue and purple. Go down the stairs previously flooded and pick up the Gold Thread Coat (Alice's ultimate armor). Now leave and examine the book of rituals again. It's changed this time. Re-enter the ancient ruins and again the stairs are flooded. Go through the maze again this time in reverse order. Now the stairs are unfolded. Go down but this time it's a boss battle. **** BOSS: SERAPHIM **** HP: 5000 (approx.) Element: None The only advice I can give is to equip crucifixes. His divine punishment attack damages all enemies and gives them random side effects. Other then that, just use your normal boss strategy. Have two people attack and one heal. ~~~~ Cave Temple ~~~~ PREQ: The 3 Forbidden Documents Like the ancient ruins this is an optional area that opens up some of the other side-quests. I recommend you do the ancient ruins first since the boss is much easier. Anyway lets get started. This is another maze and it took me forever to figure this out so I don't blame you for reading the FAQ. Before you enter read the Emigre Manuscript. When you first enter the maze there is a chest in the doors ahead. After you get it go back and then go left. Up. Left. Up. Down twice. Left. There is a lottery ticket in the top room. Left. Up. Left. Up. Keith's ultimate armor is here. You will then exit the temple. Read the Emigre Manuscript again and it will say something different. Re-enter the temple and take this path. The door ahead contains a chest. Right. Up. Right. Down and then down again. Right. There is a chest in the top room. Right. Up. Right. Save and fight a much harder version of the ruins boss. **** BOSS: CHERUBIM **** HP: 9000 (approx.) Element: None Wow that's a whole lot of HP! And guess what, you can't use and magic or special skills. It's all physical this time around. This amounts to a really long battle. In addition to divine punishment, Cherubim can also use that!!! skill that drains your HP down to one. It is absolutely necessary for Alice to have her Arc skill for this battle. You will not survive if you don't. Just use the same strategies as before and you should be fine. The only thing you have to worry about is falling asleep. Seriously... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |Note: Just a bit of trivia here. Seraphim and Cherubim are both choir| |(ranks) of angels Seraphim being the highest and Cherubim being the | |fourth highest. Its kind of odd that Cherubim would be the harder | |boss don't you think? | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~~ Amon ~~~~ Getting Amon is a requirement to get the Seraphic Radiance so it would be a good idea to pick up this awesome fusion monster. Upon entering the Nemeton Monastary you will notice that there are coloured switches and treasure chests with coloured locks around them. Lets solve this puzzle. First go right and hit the blue switch, but its blocked by a cloud. In order to clear it up you must solve a chest puzzle. Head left from the entrance. Then go down and take a right. Cross the bridge with the green slime below. Continue right and open the chest. Return to the blue switch and open the chest that is closed. The cloud will clear up. Activate the switch. Now all blue locked chests will be available. Return to the entrance area. Now head left and keep going left until you reach another slime trench. Go up and hit the red switch. Go down and you'll see an area that looks like a blacksmiths workshop. Remember this place, but for now move on. From the next screen go right until you see a staircase. Go up and hit the green switch. After you get the chests that were unlocked go and turn off the blue flame. Head back to the brimstone to pick up the destruction stone. Proceed to fight Cardinal Simon and after the battle you will receive Amon. ~~~~ Good Ending ~~~~~ In order to do this you must have the Oath Grail and you must do this after you defeat Albert Simon but before you reach the float. To obtain the Oath Grail talk to Joshua at the London rat's hideout and he will give it to you. Once you have this its time to rack up malice. In order to get malice quickly fight where enemies are the weakest. My place of choice is Blue Castle. After you fill your malice those masks from the graveyard will attack you. Defeat them in this order: Grail, Gold, Staff, and Sword. If one of them does not appear in order run away and try again. Once you do this go to the graveyard and check out the tombstone next to the dark grave. If Alice's name on it your all set to go. Now go talk to Roger. He says the machine is complete and lets you rest. When you fall asleep Alice will be taken to the graveyard. Have her read all the tombstones then talk to the masks. The masks will open the gate and you must fight Atman. ***BOSS: ATMAN*** HP: 9000 (approx.) Element: None If you did everything that I told you, Yuri will come to help Alice. If not Alice will die. Have Yuri transform into Sandalphon for best results and have Alice heal. Not to tough of a battle. ~~~~ The Seraphic Radiance ~~~~ PREQ: Amon, The 3 Forbidden documents, Ancient Ruins, Cave Temple Remember the Erotic Book I told you to pick up back in the Kuihai tower? You will need it. Read the Erotic Book in your valuables section and give it to Bacon. He will turn it into the Pulse Tract. Read about it in the valuables section and head over to the ancient ruins. When you get there, go through it in this order: Yellow, red, green, purple, blue red, sky blue. Go down the stairs and open the chest. You will get a stone of rebirth. Find the nearest save point and head to the graveyard. Go through the gate where you fought Ben Hyuga and examine the tree. Prepare yourself for the toughest battle of the game and then try to leave. **** BOSS PART 1: Ben Hyuga **** HP: 3000 (approx.) Element: Darkness This is the easy part of the battle. Just do normal attacks on him. Don't fuse. Save your SP and MP for the next part. When your HP's get low use a Thera root. **** BOSS PART 2: SERAPHIC RADIANCE **** HP: 5500 (approx.) Element: None Let me just say that this boss is ****ING HARD!!! I died many times. I thought this game was pretty easy, but then I found out that they were saving the difficulty for this climactic battle! So how do you do it without getting wiped on the floor? First of all be around level 45+. I recommend 50, but if you think your good enough go ahead and try it earlier. Get as many Thera extracts and Mana extracts as you can. If you have fruit of yggdrasils, that will help you to. My fusion monster of choice is Amon. He gives you the best statistic upgrades and has the strongest attacks. If you're at a low level be sure to carry some pure extracts. Seraphic Radiance mostly attacks you with physical attacks. Every once in awhile he will use Malcto, an attack that drains HP from you and uses it to heal him (it) self. Every physical attack will take about 300 HP from you and with only one character that equals a whole lot of healing. Good luck. If you can defeat this monster you will have no trouble with the rest of the game. Thanks to Scott McCoy(scottmc6566@hotmail.com) for this Seraphic Radiance strategy. --- About that damned Seraphic Radiance, I ran around a bit (with pedometer) to stock up on Thera Extracts, which is helpful. Use the Pure Extract NOW, right after fusing with Amon, just to be safe. I also found Demon Rays more effective than The End. Equip the Belt of Power and Seven-Eyed mask. I found the Huge Jug worthless, but I liked the Small Jug because it sped up the process of going Berzerk with the Level 3 souls. --- ~~~~ Margarets Confession ~~~~ Go to Rouen and enter the church through the back door. As you enter the main hall Margaret will ask you to speak with her through the confessional. First go up to the float and fight all the bosses up to messiah. Take the yellow transport back to earth and talk to Roger Bacon. He tells you he wants to go to the moon. Complete a 10 ring to send him to the moon. When he comes back you will get the Nightbird Claw Ultimate Armor- Get Seraphic Radiance Alice Ultimate Weapon- In order to get her ultimate weapon you must have Alice in your party. Go to Prague. There is a man at the bar who hires you to go exorcise a demon at his house. Dollhouse should now appear on your world map. Go there and enter. First examine the clock to get the crank. Go through the left door and then north to a fountain. Complete a push ring and get a storage room key. Leave the dollhouse and if you go left from the entrance there is another room (storage room). Use the key. It's too dark in here to see. Use the crank on the light and it will reveal stairs leading down to the basement. Go down and get the slide projector. There is room farther below but you can't go there quite yet. Go back to the house, but this time head upstairs. Use the slide on the projector to reveal a picture of a child and her mother with the date December 24. Now head downstairs and enter the room on the right again. There is a fireplace. Enter the code 1224 (if you couldn't figure it out its the month (12) and the day (24)). Now that room in the basement is accessible. Head down there. Once you enter the door examine various places through the room (this part gave me the chills). Then try to leave. **** BOSS: ORB CHAOS **** HP: 8000 (approx.) Element: Light Crucifix's are your friend. If you don't have any this will be a hard battle for you. If you do have some then this battle is easy. Have Yuri fuse with a dark class monster, Charon will do fine. And have your other two characters play the traditional support roles. When you beat it you will get Alice's ultimate weapon Holy Book Flesh Ultimate Armor- From ancient ruins sidequest Zhuzhen Ultimate Weapon- Complete Cave Temple side-quest. Reward for beating boss. Ultimate Armor- Go to the inn at Rouen. Enter the room on the bottom floor and Meiyuan, the acupuncture guy, will give you a letter from Qihua. The letter contains ZhuZhen's ultimate armor. Margarete Ultimate Weapon- Win from lottery member #2 Ultimate Armor- Get 10000 steps with the pedometer. Put Margarete in your party and claim from the silent peddler. Keith Ultimate Weapon- Put Keith in your party and go to Bistriz and talk to Nina. She says that she saw something strange at your castle. Go and investigate the big coffin and a golden bat will appear. Some dialogue will take place and then you must fight it. You have six turns to kill him. If you don't, then it's instant death for you. Your reward is the Demon Sword Tryving. Ultimate Armor- Complete Cave Temple side-quest above. Halley Ultimate Weapon- Complete Ancient Ruins side-quest. Prize: Crucifix!!*, Seal of Wisdom!, Pure root, Pure extract *I have only found 2 of these in the game are crucial for fighting some of the more difficult bosses. ~#2~ Location: Rouen, after you get the pearl ring. He's in the alley Prize: 10 Gauge!, Dice of Ceasar, Seal of Strength, Eye of Ourboros ~#1~ Location: Blue Castle, after completing all of its side quests. He's invisible siting on the throne. Make sure Keith is not in your party. Prize: Thief Earrings!, Key to success, Seal of vitality!, Fruit of Yggdrasil! ~#00~ Location: Roger Bacon. You must have Yuri's ultimate weapon and played lottery with all previous players. Prize: Cotton Underpants!, Comet Mask!, Seal of soul!, Talisman of power -------------- Misc. -------------- Contains: Guild Cards, Gravestones, Obtaining ??? Skills, Pedometer ~~~~ Guild Cards ~~~~ Guild Cards enable you to get discounts at shops here are there locations. Snake Card-Get from Silent peddler in Zhaoyang Village. Moon Card- Nina's house in Bistriz Sun Card- Talk to homeless guy on old castle street. Star Card- Lottery #12 Eternity Card- Lottery #4 ~~~~ Gravestones ~~~~ Air- In Prague go to the bar and talk to one of the men. He will tell you that some guy went into the bathroom and he is taking forever to get out. Go into the bathroom and check out the second stall. It seems the man is out of toilet paper. Hand him a tissue and try to leave the bar. The man will run out and give you the gravestone. Water- Go to Rouen and return to the room that you stayed at in the hotel. A couple will be arguing about a diamond ring or whatever. Go to the church and enter the last coffessional door. The husband will enter and ask you for advice. Tell him to buy her a diamond ring. Return to the hotel room and he will give you the water gravestone. Dark- Return to the tower at Blue Castle where Yuri was kept. It's on the floor. Earth- Go to Bistritz and talk to Nina she will tell you that she found a strange stone in the roots of the plant she was growing and hands you the earth grave stone. Fire- Enter the room with the spade lock and examine the chest twice. Light- Go to nemeton and go into Rogers house. It's on the second floor. ~~~~ Obtaining ??? Skills ~~~~ Have you earned your Lv.3 fusion monsters and are wondering what those ??? skills are? Look no further. I will tell you how to get them. Just go into berserk mode while fused with the monster and you will learn its ??? skill. To deplete sp faster fuse with lower level monsters first. Disembody and then fuse with the Lv. 3 one. ~~~~ The Pedometer ~~~~ Remember when the silent peddler gave you that pedometer (sure you do!). Well put that bad boy to use. Equip it on one of your characters and walk around random encounter areas. Run away from the enemies and continue until you have the desired amount of steps. It is also an item (Yggdrasil Tears) in Vagrant Story. -Tent has the same use in Shadow Hearts and Squaresoft games. -Scott McCoy(scottmc6566@hotmail.com) made an interesting comment about the Shadow Hearts storyline. "As for similarities to Squaresoft, perhaps the most glaring between this game and FFX is the story emphasis on the relationship between hero and heroine and their respective fathers. It's a bit much after a while..." -Andrew(TestaALT@aol.com) "Second off, In your Squaresoft [similarities] section I would like to add something. It is that in Final Fantasy 9 Zidane(The main character) does the same arm movements as Yuri... When I first [saw] this I was [laughing] my head off...Another squaresoft influence is In battle when you have to press R1 to run away. Here is a list of the most common. #1 Q: Im trying to get the good ending, but my malice wont fill up, whats the deal? Sometimes they will open other side quests up. Also see #7. #3 Q: What quest should I do first? A: The three forbidden documents are a requirement for most of the side quests so I would do those first #4 Q: I can't ride the boat to Kowloon forest. What EXACTLY do I need to do? A: You answered Dehuai's questions incorrectly. Re-read the section again. #5 Q: Do I have to get Amon in order to get the Seraphic Radiance? A: Absolutely Yes. #6 Q: I can't do the push ring is there a trick to it? A: Not side quest related, but asked enough to warrant an entry here. No there is no trick. I can offer two tips. 1) Use your index finger. It is more responsive. 2) Don't look at the ring. I know this may sound stupid, but believe me it works. #7 Q: I can't get any of the ultimate weapons and armors or do any of the sidequests. What gives? A: You went up to the float. The float is a major point of no return.
