INTRODUCTION + =======================| | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal is the third installment in Insomniac's great series. The series has been known for its fantastic action that combines platforming. A lot of people like it because you blow shit up. I've written a guide for the first game, but skipped the second one (I still played it). It seems some guy named Dr. Nefarious is terrorizing your home planet, Veldin. Ratchet and Clank head for Veldin to stop him. When they land, some robots call Ratchet their new sergeant. *****NOTE There will be spoilers in this guide, so read ahead at your own risk. *****NOTE +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ =======================| | + III. WALKTHROUGH + =======================| | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ ============= PLANET VELDIN ============= This planet is pretty straightforward. Move forward, letting the robots take care of the enemies. After that is done, a cutscene will occur and the robots hand you a Shock Blaster. Take out the enemy in front of you, then continue forward until you get to an area with the robots taking out the bunch of little Tyhrranoids. After they're all gone, you receive a Nitro Launcher. Use it to take out the vehicle. Continue down through the hole, taking out the little guys, then use manual aiming to take out the vehicle on top of the pedestal in the middle of the room (L1 then aim up). Take out the bunch of large enemies and vehicles and keep pressing on. Go across the thin bridge and take out the big enemies. Go left if you want some crates, but right continues the stage. Get in the vehicle with the robots to fly to another area of the planet. I don't think the missiles can hit you when you freefall, but try to avoid any if they come your way. You'll see some new enemies when you land, little guys that fire a laser shot. These are a bit stronger than the other ones, but shouldn't pose too much of trouble. There are 3 waves of enemies, then the doors open up and another wave will come out. Once all of the enemies are taken care of, go through the door that opened up and climb the left side to a platform with a vehicle shooting at you. Simply hide behind one of the walls, then jump up and blast it with the Nitro. After it's gone, a bridge appears and you will finish this mission. You'll get access to Planet Florana now, since you have to search for this man who was able to stand up to Dr. Nefarious. ============== PLANET FLORANA ============== Once you land, check out the surroundings and buy any new weapons that you may want. Jump the tiny platforms to the other side, taking out the insects. Take the left path to find a bunch of crates and a green one. The green one will multiply all experience and bolts by a factor for a limited time (in this case, 2), so break all boxes and go to the other path. You should meet two tribesmen, with the one on the isolated platform throwing his boomerang on you. When you jump on that platform, a big worm-like creature will appear out of the water. These creatures can spit a large green ball at you, so try to take them out. Two Nitro blasts should take them out. Continue forward and take out the tribesmen in the building, then jump on the platforms on the left side of the room to get to the ledge above. Long jump to the next area, where there will be 3 waves of tribesmen. Once they're done, climb the yellow ladder to face some more enemies. After that, head to the ledge and jump off, while hovering to the platforms below. Take out the tribesmen and the big worm, then smack the orange box. This is called Inferno Mode. You can't take any damage while in this mode and you also cannot use any weapons. The good thing is that your wrench is a lot stronger. Once you hit the box, head inside the building and the bridge closes. You have 3 waves of enemies in here. After the first 2 waves, the bridge opposite the entrance drops and 3 more tribesmen come out. After they're finished, wall jump up to the ladder, then climb it to the top. If you need any life, there's some in the area opposite the ladder. Take out the enemies and use the zipline to get to the next area. As soon as you land, you'll be confronted by two big worms and some insects. Next are three tribesmen on the next platform. A bridge drops down to reveal a ladder to a platform with more insects and another zipline. Take it to get cutscene. Hop onto the platforms to find out they drop after a bit. Take out the enemies and navigate your way up the hill with the falling rocks. More enemies, then another falling platform. Continue on past the fire and more falling platforms to a new area with insects and more tribesmen. This next section is more fire and some crushing walls. More insects, then a large amount of fire things. Watch the pattern and move past them to find another hill with falling rocks and some fire things. Replenish your ammo as it is time for a boss. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- *****BOSS: QWARK***** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Qwark has two attacks of his own. He will throw his boomerang at you, which is dodged easily by jumping over it. He will also try to close the range between you and swing at you with the boomerang. He will also call in some tribesmen after he loses a bit of health, then some tribesmen and insects after some more health is lost. Keep blasting at him, getting the ammo boxes when you need them. ================ STARSHIP PHOENIX ================ This is quite a nice place. Check out the weapon and armor vendors, then head to the VR Simulation room if you want to earn some bolts. I will be covering the VR Simulation in its own section. Don't bother with the game system, since you need Vid Comics to play and you don't have any yet. Your first objective is to lead Qwark to your quarters, where he will be put in his own cell. After that, head to the bridge to meet Sasha. You'll see the President, Sasha's father, is in trouble on Marcadia. Go back to your ship and head there. =============== PLANET MARCADIA =============== Go along the path and destroy the enemies. Go up the steps and into a big area with a lot of enemies. Remember that strafing can help reduce the amount of damage since the enemies can't hit what's constantly moving. Make sure to go into the alcoves on the left and right side for bolts and ammo. Go up the stairs next to the pool and continue destroying enemies, watching out for the vehicles that will be dropped off. Continue along the path and take out the vehicle on the other side of the small jump, then Long Jump to the other side. Hit the Inferno Mode crate and take out everything in the area. Go down the steps and view a cutscene with the robot. Take out the enemies in this next area, then board the dropship. It's now time for some battle missions. Pick "Secure the Area" and you'll be transported to a new area. Simply defeat all the enemies that come until you secure the area. You get 3,000 bolts for your troubles and open up some new missions. Air Assault......Protect rangers while destroying enemies. All rangers die equals failure. 4,500 bolts for completing. Turret Command...Use the turret to destroy the dropships. 6,000 bolts. Under the Gun....Provide cover fire until repair crew can fix turret. 2 minutes until it is fixed. 7,500 bolts. Hit n' Run.......Must use wrench to activate automated turrets in order. Kill enemies until coast is clear, then turn bolt crank. 9,000 bolts. Once you have finished all of the battle missions, you'll get a cutscene where you'll talk to the President. He tells you that the defense shield went down and he needs you to fix it. Pick the Laser Defense and you'll be transported there. Go forward and pick up the Refractor gadget. Use L1 to redirect a laser. Redirect the laser into the hole by the first door. Go into the next room and turn the bolt crank, then redirect the laser to the machine the crank moved to open the door. Redirect the laser to the little machine, then turn the crank and redirect the laser once again to open the door. Redirect the laser, turn the bolt crank and redirect the laser again to the little machine, thus creating platforms for you to get across the lava. The platforms are like teeter-totters, so be careful. An enemy pops out on the other side, so destroy it and hop on the platform. You have to lure the spider robot with the laser to the spider symbol on the wall, then you must hit it with the laser to open the door. Turn the crank, then hop on the platform to redirect the laser, which will open up the next door. Turn the crank, then redirect the two lasers into the holes to open up the last door. Follow the path to find Al, who gives you Qwark Vid Comic #1. Use the transporter to go back to the dropship, then head back to your ship. ========================== STARSHIP PHOENIX REVISITED ========================== Go back to your living quarters and play the Vid-Comic. Collect all 100 tokens to get a Titanium Bolt. Progress through the interactive portion and defeat the worm-like creature at the end to finish it. Depending on how fast you finished it and how many tokens you collected, you're rewarded with bolts. Qwark has regained his memory back it seems. Check out the video of Annihilation Nation; it certainly is amusing. Sasha wants you to go there and win the holographic device. Head back to your ship and pick Annihilation Nation. =================== ANNIHILATION NATION =================== You'll automatically start the Deathcourse Challenge. Jump past the first set of fire traps and platforms into a room with spinning enemies. Kill them and step on the switch in the middle, which will open the door to the left. Cannons will pop up from the towers, but you can destroy them with one shot from the N60 Storm. Shoot the robot at the end and kill the two robots in the next area before moving on. More fire traps and another laser robot in the next area. Kill the spinning enemies and step on the switch to open the door to the right. More spinning enemies and laser robots, then another room with a switch, which opens the door to the left. There are now segments of the wall coming out, trying to push you into the lava. Navigate past these, destroying enemies as you go, until you find a room with Vid-Comic #2. Now it's time for Arena Combat. There are 10 rounds in this part. They consist of melee men, laser robots and spinning enemies. You should get an Inferno Mode box around the 4th-5th round. Once all 10 rounds are complete, you'll win the Tyhrranoid disguise and you'll receive a call from Sasha. It seems the President put Qwark as leader of the fight against Dr. Nefarious. Head back to ship and return to the Phoenix. I won't cover the rest of the Deathcourse challenges here, but you're free to try them out to get some more bolts. ============= PHOENIX AGAIN ============= You'll be in the meeting with Qwark. Watch Q's plans to infiltrate the top secret base of Aquatos. After the metting is over, head towards your ship and Al will chime in saying he wants to know how the Vid-Comic series ends. If you want to play any comics, go ahead but I will continue on with the guide by going to Aquatos. ============== PLANET AQUATOS ============== On your way to Aquatos, you'll receive a call from Clank's agent. Ratchet ends up shutting off the communications mid-call. Head to the path that isn't blocked off by a barrier (across from front of ship). Go forward and receive a cutscene with Skidd. Ratchet decides to bring along Skidd because of his Hacker gadget. The green sludge can't hurt you, so don't worry about it. Go past the first area, making sure to defeat all of the slime monsters. Step on the switch to open the door and do the same thing in the second area. Defeat the enemy in the third room and Skidd will automatically hack into and create a bridge. Go across and into the next room. Some big enemies that fire at you will appear, so take them out and head into the next room. There is a pool of water at the top of the platform, so dive in. Swim through this cavern and surface in the next room. Sasha warns you about some large biomass in the drains below. Climb the ladder into the sewer and take out the slimes that appear. Shoot the slime wall blocking the pipe to reveal a rather extra large slime that yields a sewer crystal when it is defeated. Keep shooting at it while avoiding his fire. Go and hit the switch in the next room to let Skidd in. Clear the next room of enemies, then Skidd will hack and create another bridge. Hit the switch to open the door, then fight your way to the next switch. Eventually, you'll come upon another swimming area. Swim down and through the path, making sure to avoid the mines, then resurface in the next room. Climb the ladder and defeat the enemies and big slime to get another crystal, then hit the switch in the next room to let Skidd in. Clear the next room of the enemies, then Skidd will create another bridge. Go across and hit the switch to ride the platform to a new area and you'll get a cutscene. It seems Slim Cognito has returned. If you have a R&C: Going Commando save, insert that memory card in to get the Lava Gun and Miniturret Glove for free. Once you're done, take the submarine to Nefarious' base. Once you get there, Ratchet and Clank will split up. You'll first control Clank. Go forward, past the lasers and hit the switch to open up access to the next area temporarily. You have to hustle to the next area before the barrier activates again. Once there, you'll view a cutscene. Once that's over, aim the banana gun to the other side and the monkey will press the switch, creating a bridge to the other side. Shoot another banana past the spotlight and the monkey will distract the guard for you. Once you get to the other side, Clank tells Ratchet that he will need to extend the bridge. You now have control of Tyhrra-Ratchet. Go forward and wave to the guard behind the barrier using the Circle button. You'll now have to hit the designated buttons as they pass through the box. Sometimes you'll have to hold a button. Make the first Tyhrra open the barrier, then cross the platforms to the second one. He questions who you are, but you answer that you are certainly not a Lombax. He lets you through. Talk to the next guy away from the other two to make him lift up the girder. Back to Clank. Walk forward and go past the spinning lasers. Shoot a banana onto the switch to keep the monkey on it so you can make it past the barrier. If he gets stuck, simply stand on the switch and shoot a banana on this side. Head to the room to the right of the fan to get some tiny bots. Have them attack the fan and then continue forward. Use the monkey to lure the two guards, then head into the next room. Stand on the discolored floor and shoot a banana onto the switch to raise the platform. Make the bots enter the hole to open up the barrier. Walk along and the game will switch back to Ratchet. Make your way past the lasers, hitting the switch and hurrying through the barrier. Talk to the next Tyhrra to open the barrier. Talk to the right one and he'll extend the bridge. Press the switch and enter Dr. Nefarious' office to view a cutscene. Jump down the sewer pipe and ride along until you can walk. Another cutscene with a familiar face. The mechanic will buy any sewer crystals off of you for bolts. You can head back to your ship to continue with the story or head to the sewers to find more crystals. The crystals are a great way to earn a lot of bolts. Head back to your ship, then go back to the Phoenix. =================== PHOENIX RISES AGAIN =================== Qwark praises himself to fill his head with even more air. Listen to Qwark's next plan, which consists of you doing all the work while Qwark and the rest of the team "monitor" the situation. Head to your ship and head to the next planet. ================== PLANET TYHRRANOSIS ================== Avoid the missiles as you freefall. Feel free to take it easy as this stage is pretty linear and the two robots that accompany you can destroy a lot of the enemies. You'll come to a room with a lot of enemies and a barrier in the middle of the room. Shoot the object in the middle of the room until it explodes, then take out the remaining enemies. There's another object in the room in the back, so destroy it and you'll see some things explode outside. Go in the side room to see a cutscene. Sasha drops a vehicle and press Triangle to enter. Speed towards the bridge and hop over it. Drive around and let the monkey take out the guards on the towers. The green dots are the four turrets you have to destroy. There are those round objects from before stationed throughout this area. You can get one with the vehicle, but the other three can only be accessed on foot. Take the first right with the vehicle and storm right past all of the enemies and smash the round ball to destroy the first turret. After that, take the left path and stop at the first set of platforms you see leading up. Hop out of the vehicle and ascend these to find a path leading to another round ball to destroy the second turret. Follow the dirt path to a weapons vendor and take the platform down into the tunnel. Destroy the enemies, using the rocks as cover, then continue forward. Follow the path, ignoring the swingshot target, until you make your way to a third round ball to destroy a third target. Head back to your vehicle and drive to the northeast corner of the map. Hop onto the building and start destroying the enemies. Once you step foot on the bridge, two dropships will deploy enemies in front and behind you. Continue along this path until you find the round ball to destroy the fourth and final turret. You'll appear in front of the bridge, when a ship comes down and fires missiles at it, thus destroying it. Go forward and use the elevator to get into the control room. It's time for a boss fight! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= *****BOSS: MOMMA TYHRRANOID***** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The Momma (from which I'll now be calling it) has one basic move at first. She will continue pursuing you and try hitting you with her tentacles. After enough damage, she'll crawl onto the ceiling and start firing a machine gun back and forth. She'll continue this until you get her to half life. The barrier is now unlocked and the Momma starts shooting missiles wildly, destroying the area you're in. Your point of view will now be from her, as she fires missiles at you. You have to make your way through the newly opened area and into another battleground. There are tiny Tyhrranoids throughout the passage, along with some life. Once you make it to the other side, the battle ensues. She'll use her same moves from the first section, so keep firing on her until she's done for. When she falls, Qwark somehow appears and takes all the credit for the kill. After the cutscene is over, head into the dropship and you can do some side battle missions for some bolts. Head back to the Phoenix. =============== DIE PHOENIX DIE =============== Ratchet will tell his story of the fight against the Momma Tyhrranoid. Then Dr. Nefarious sends a holographic message with him mocking the Q-Force. Ratchet makes Al track the signal, which leads to Planet Daxx. On your way back to the ship, you'll get a scene with Helga. Do the training course to get the gadget. Go through the course, past the Hypershot section to a Hacker terminal. You have to collect the green things with the Square button and blast the red ones with the Circle button. The wall-like objects are indestructible. Do not let any red ones get to the end of the line. Don't worry if you blast any green ones by mistake. You must collect enough green ones to fill the bar at the right of the screen. Wall jump to the next area, then use your Hypershot to get to the next Hacker. There are two stages now. Once you collect enough green things to fill the bar, you'll have to do it again. Wall jump, then Hypershot your way to the last Hacker terminal. There are 3 stages in this one, meaning three bars to fill, but it's pretty easy. Once you've opened the door, you'll get a Titanium Bolt for your trouble, as well as The Hacker and Hypershot. After that, head to your ship and go to Daxx. =========== PLANET DAXX =========== You have two paths to choose from now. Take the path not using the Hypershot. Climb the platforms until you see insects and a large machine-gun robot. Two shots from the Annihilator kills it. Continue on the path, taking out the insects and large robots when they confront you. You'll come to an island with two large robots, so use the rocks as cover as you take them out. Jump across the gap to find a building with Charge Boots. Go back outside and use the Hypershot to get across the water. The path splits again. Take the right path and use the Hypershot to get to some platforms with fans underneath them. The large ship will fire missiles, destroying the platforms, but just getting to the next area will send it away. Wall Jump to the top and continue along the path. Keep going until you eventually reach a platform with a warp and a weapons vendor. Don't use the warp yet, but Hypershot over to the platform. It's time for a battle with that ship. It will begin by firing the missiles, which can be avoided by sidejumping. After it phases out and back in, it will sweep one laser beam across the platform. The next time, it will go back to missiles. The last time it will crisscross two lasers, so be careful. After the fight is over, Hypershot to the control room. You find out that someone recently used the computers to edit one of Courtney Gears' videos. Watch it and you'll see a ominous message. Clank suggests that you go and confront Courtney, seeing if she has any information. Take the cab back to your ship. This time, take the left path with the elevator. You're greeted by some robots and a big machine gun one. Continue on this path, using the boxes (they can be destroyed, so watch out) as cover as you take out the enemies. Hypershot over to the last platform and use the Hacker to open the door. When the door opens, you'll find more enemies. Go into the next room, clear the enemies out and head to the platform opposite the entrance to find a switch. Press it, then use the Hacker to open the door to the next area. A lot of enemies in here as you approach the next door. Use the Hacker to open the last door, which leads into the control panel. View the cutscene, then head back to your ship to view another. You have two choices here. You can either go to Annihilation Nation to meet with Courtney Gears or go to the Obani Moons system. For now, go to Annihilation Nation and choose the gauntlet with Courtney in the name. ========================= ANNIHILATION NATION AGAIN ========================= Go past the first flame traps and step on the button in the next room. Step on the switch to open the door to the right. Take care of the enemies, then use the floating platforms to get to the other side. Take care of the enemies on the ledge above, then watch out for the missiles the big tank-robot fires. Go along the path, opening the next door to the left. Follow the corridor, taking out the ninja robots and open the next door. Two laser bots and another ninja bot, followed by three spike-swinging robots. The end of the obstacle course, but you still have to fight something. In the arena, some big robot will appear. It begins by firing saws on the ground, which you should sidejump over. As it gets close, it will sweep two flamethrowers on the ground. Once it's dead, you'll win the challenge. You'll get another Vid-Comic and meet with Gears. Go to Obani Gemini now. ============ OBANI GEMINI ============ Reflect the laser to open the bridge, then use the jumppad to reflect the next laser at the satellite. You have to keep following the laser and reflect it on the satellites. Once you reflect the final laser, the forcefield will drop, so head to it and use the teleporter to get to Pollux. Follow the path until you find the first jumppad. Once you reach the top and dispose of the enemies, cross the bridges and find another pad. There will be a big machine gun robot at the top, so dispose of it and zipline down. Follow this path until you find another pad to jump with. Cross the bridge at the top and take out the enemies before using the last pad to get to a platform with a cutscene. Skidd arrives, after encountering heavy resistance at the Galaxy Burger drive-thru. The last moon is blocked by a disintegration field. You'll receive a call from the Rangers, saying they need assistant in Blackwater City. Go back to your ship and head to Holostar Studios before heading to Rilgar. ================ HOLOSTAR STUDIOS ================ Ratchet ends up ejecting Clank out of the ship and gets fired. You'll need to do a series of stunts. First is a bar fight with some little robots. Just smack them using the Square button. Next, navigate through the lasers until you get to a room with the monkey and some more robots. Destroy the robots and shoot a banana onto the button while standing on the colored platform. Once at the top, lure the monkey onto the platform below and then bring him up to the top with the button. Shoot a banana across the gap and watch the monkey cross and stand on the switch. Make sure to deactivate the laser so your bots can get across the bridge. Make the bots go into the hole and deactivate the barrier. Destroy the robots, then hop across the platforms and go through the door. Now it's time to fight Terror of the Talos. He shoots missiles at you, but you can do that too. Make sure to just melee him as much as you can. After a bit of damage, the director will cue the space ninjas. A counter appears on the bottom right showing how many are left. Once it reaches zero, Talos will come back down with more ninjas. Finish him off and watch the cutscene. You'll now be in control of Ratchet alone. Take out the little guys and the big guy with the laser, then go through the door into the next area. More guys and another door. Keep following the path until you reach the Hacker terminal. Ride the elevator up to the top and eradicate the enemies in the next room. Use the Hacker terminal to open the door. Use Hypershot to move along and take out the enemies. Before the third set is a ship, so sidejump while blasting it. When you get to the area below, take out the little guys and then start blasting away at the medium and large ones. Three more large ones will come from the door so take them out and continue on the path. Keep going until you find your ship and Clank. Head to Blackwater City. =============== BLACKWATER CITY =============== Avoid the red missiles as you freefall. As soon as you land, you'll be bombarded with Tyhrranoids. Defeat wave after wave until no more come. You'll get 15000 bolts for your troubles. Part 2....Take out enemy forces at the bridge. Start with fighter jets, then troop placements behind you. Then little guys and last big robots and blast guys. 20000 bolts. Part 3....Head behind enemy lines and take out the first set of robots. Next, take out both turrets on the base. Next comes the last resistance for the Tyhrranoids. 25000 bolts and Gravity Boots are rewards. After you defend Blackwater City, you'll get a call from Skidd. It seems he is in trouble, so head for Obani Draco. =========== OBANI DRACO =========== Head across the platforms and into the first circular tube. Follow the lights on the ground to line yourself up with the next platform. Time your way across this area to avoid the rising liquid. Go through another circular tube to one filled with electricity and little impulses being shot through. You can't double jump, so navigate through this tube and go into the hole at the bottom of the room. You'll be in another hazard tube, so go through it and follow the path to another liquid rising room. After this, you'll view a cutscene in the next room showing Skidd being turned into a robot. Ratchet will also find himself teleported to a platform, where he must fight Courtney Gears. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= *****BOSS: COURTNEY GEARS***** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Gears begins by teleporting among the cages on the outskirts of the arena. After she disappears, she'll create spinning dancing robots to come after you. After you destroy them all, she'll reappear and through pink discs at you. After enough damage, she'll stop the magician's act and just teleport from cage to cage. Eventually, she'll teleport onto the arena and send shockwaves and more discs at you. After you take her down, you'll get a transmissions from the Phoenix saying they located Nefarious' cruiser. Go back to your ship and head for the Zeldrin Starport. ================ ZELDRIN STARPORT ================ Head to the first left to find Qwark and his monkey. Enter the ship and you'll fly inside the star cruiser. Head into the first area and take out the robots. Climb the ladder and destroy all the robots in the next area. Head around the middle of the room to find more enemies. Eliminate the ninjas at the end of the bridge and then take the elevator to a new area. Eliminate all of the enemy robots, then head to the opening on the other side. Take the elevator up to Nefarious. He activates the self-destruct sequence, but Qwark says he saw something important and will meet you at the shuttle. Backtrack to the shuttle, only taking out the necessary enemies. Clank presses the engines button and you escape before knowing what happened to Qwark. =========================== RISE FROM THE ASHES PHOENIX =========================== Back on the Phoenix, the crew mourns the loss of Qwark. Big Al will give you Vid-Comic #4 and Ratchet says that there might be a clue as to what Nefarious is going to do in the comics. Head over to your quarters and play through all of the comics. Once you play through the fourth one, Ratchet says that Nefarious will attack Metropolis. Head to your ship and fly to Metropolis. ========== METROPOLIS ========== When you land, you'll see that the attack has already begun and see that Nefarious has swapped Clank out with a robot he has called Klunk. Go down the stairs and make a right into an area with big guards and medium ones. Go forward and cross the bridge, watching out for the ship and two big guards. More enemies litter the next room and watch out for the big one outside the window. The next room is hell, with medium enemies and a big tank. You'll view a cutscene with Nefarious turning everyone into robots if you step into this area. Whenever that's over, make sure to stop that tank and the rest of the enemies. Jump up to the next ledge and take care of the enemies there, including the big guard that comes from the window. In the next room, you can safely attack the enemies below from the top opening. After that, continue down into the open, watching out for the ship and two big enemies. A dropship appears, dropping off 3 medium enemies. As you walk up the magnetic strip, enemies will show up. In the next area, reflect the laser, turn the bolt crank and reflect the laser again to make a bridge appear. Take out the enemies and continue forward until you get a cutscene. The fake Clank enlarges himself and it's time for a boss battle. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= *****BOSS: MEGA-KLUNK***** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= You'll be fighting Klunk on a train. He only has two moves throughout the whole battle. He fires off a red energy blast that sends a shockwave when it hits the ground, which is easily avoidable. The other attack is him firing rockets, which is the harder of the two to avoid. Keep locked onto him and he should go down in no time. Eventually another train will show up with ammo boxes and some health should you need it. After Klunk goes down, Ratchet will free Clank. Head to the cab to get to your ship and return to the Phoenix. When you get back to the area with your ship, you'll notice a dropship nearby. You can do some extra missions for bolts if you want. They won't be covered here. Head back to the Phoenix for now. ================ STARSHIP PHOENIX ================ You'll get a cutscene showing what has happened so far. Someone mentions that Qwark was looking for something when Nefar's cruiser went down. You now have to go to the crash site on Planet Zeldrin. ==================== PLANET ZELDRIN AGAIN ==================== Go to the ground and fight the enemies that appear. Continue on this path, killing the enemies as they appear. Keep going until you reach an elevator. Keep following the path until you find a Hypershot orb, then swing over to the escape pod. You find out that someone else made if off the ship alive and that person was obviously Qwark from the recording. For now, continue along the path. You'll need to use the Gravity Boots to make your way along the ship. Take out enemies and jump over the electric traps until you reach the top, then take the zipline back to your ship. You'll get a message from the Rangers on Aridia, saying they need help, so head there next. ============= PLANET ARIDIA ============= This planet is similar to the other missions for the Rangers. You will have to do battle missions similar to the other ones. Remember that the bolt numbers are the reward for the first time completion of the mission. Part 1....Follow the path and take out the enemies as they show up. 10,000 bolts. Part 2....Take out the enemies as they appear. First are ground troops, then air ones after, followed by mixtures of both. 15,000 bolts. Part 3....Need to take out the commanders, marked by green blips on your radar. 20,000 bolts. Part 4....Must activate four turrets by turning bolt cranks. 25,000 bolts. Part 5....More of the same as part 1. Use cover to take them out easily, then continue your push through the tunnels. 30,000 bolts and a Warp Pad gadget. Once you're done on Aridia, head back to the Phoenix to get Al to decode the data disk. ======= PHOENIX ======= Al says that it's possible to reverse the process that happened to Skidd. He will need some time to decode the data disk you recovered from the crash site. Lastly, Al says they found another episode of the Qwark Vid-Comic. That's weird since he says they only published 4 episodes. Go and play the Vid-Comic. You will unlock Qwark's Hideout after doing the comic. Head to your ship and go to the secret hideout. ====================== QWARK'S SECRET HIDEOUT ====================== Use the moving platform to get to the other side. Now comes a bit of a tricky part. Ignore the switch for now and go to the end of the path. Listen to Al as he talks about the Warp Pad. Press Triangle to put one down, then go and stand on the switch. Once the elevator is at the top, press Circle to warp up and into the next area. Carefully make your way through this area, watching out for the Qwark robots. Use the barriers for cover, but they can break so watch out when they do. Use the Warp Pad to get past the barrier, then zipline down to the next area. This next part can be a bit challenging. You must defeat more Qwark robots, only this time you're on ice, so moving around is a bit trickier. Don't forget about the one on the ledge above. Once you're through, climb the ladder and Hypershot to the next area. As you land, more Qwark robots appear. The tricky part is the laser that goes back and forth. You can temporarily disable it by hitting it. More Qwark robots will come out as you destroy them, so keep moving and fire away. Keep moving and glide down to the ice platform. More Qwark robots appear. Continue the path until you fight yet another army of Qwark robots. Approach the door and four more bots pop out. Approach the barrier and the door behind will shut, so send Clank to the underground cavern. Go into the round room and get the two bots on both sides. Make them attack the fan, then make them enter the hole to open the barrier. Move past the lasers and head across the platforms to see more icicles fall, thus creating a way across. Jump across and approach the suitcase to find the monkey and the banana gun. Use him to distract the first guard, then lure him across the gap with another. Distract the next guard and lure the monkey to the switch to make a bridge. Take out the ninja-cannon and then use the monkey to distract the guard on the left so you can get the bot. Use the elevator to get the next bot and navigate through the lasers to get the last one. Make the bots go into the hole and navigate through the next set of lasers. Step on the switch and you switch back to Ratch. Go into the room and you'll get a cutscene with Qwark. Take the cab back to your ship. When you back to ship, you'll receive a transmission from Sasha saying the Phoenix is under attack. ==================== PHOENIX UNDER ATTACK ==================== As soon as you land, you'll see ninja robots. Quickly take these out and move onto the next area. Don't worry about any of the side rooms and just move forward, taking out the ninjas as they come. Hang a right in the next room and use the Hypershot to cross the green tubes. Clear the next room of ninjas and climb the ladder to reflect the laser to open the door. In the next room are more ninjas, but to the right is a large robot firing lasers at you. Hop the gap and take out the last ninjas, then head through the door to find your friends. After the cutscene, head back to your ship and head for Koros. ============ PLANET KOROS ============ Follow the path in front of you, as you dodge and take out the enemies. When you enter the big open area not far into the stage, a big robot from the attack on the Phoenix will appear. Destroy it and the army of other robots as they show up, then continue along the path to the door. When it opens, medium-sized enemies will be behind it and another giant robot will appear. After it's gone, continue along past the broken bridge and you'll encounter more normal enemies. When you get to an area with a bunch of boxes, climb them to get to the next area. Follow it until you get to a big open area and get ready for a lot of combat here. A giant robot, a few medium ones and a bunch of little ones riddle this area. Once you're finished wasting them, follow the path to a weapons vendor. Reload and continue forward to see a dropship dropping medium enemies. Kill them, then head up the steps for more blasting fun. Continue on this path until you enter a building. Head up the ramp and take out the giant robot and other enemies, then continue forward to find more enemies and another giant robot. Take him out, then take out the ship that appears on the bridge and enter the command center. Clank aims the ion cannon and destroys the Biobliterator. Sasha chimes in and says that Al has finished decoding the data disk. Unfortunately, Nefarious had constructed a second Biobliterator, one that is more dangerous than the one you just destroyed. Head back to your ship and head for Command Center. ============== COMMAND CENTER ============== Head towards the first ledge and take out the guys below before Hypershoting down. Go through the door, take out the next enemies and continue along the path until Sasha says that you need to use the Tyhrraguise. Transform and walk up to the robot and begin talking to him. It takes four conversations before he will finally activate the elevator. Climb the ladder at the top and use your Tyhrraguise to get him to open the barrier. Once you're out of his sight, go back to Ratchet and wipe out the enemies in the next area. Take out the enemies across the gap before activating the Hypershot platform. Go across and take out the enemies behind the door. Continue on this path until you find a Hacker terminal. There are four stages inside the terminal. Once you open the door, take out the enemies and turn the crank on the right side of the room. Reflect the lasers to open the next door. This next big open area can be a bit difficult with all of the big enemies shooting the green lasers. Take them out first, then take out the rest. Follow the path to find Nefarious, but he gets away before you can do anything. You hop in the dropship and chase after him. Nefarious has begun the launch sequence. Ratchet will jump out of the ship and you have to avoid the missiles as you freefall. A cutscene with Nefarious will occur when you land. Time to fight Nefarious! *****NOTE***** IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU TRY TO MAX ALL WEAPONS AND GET THE PDA ON QWARK'S HIDEOUT. THE PDA LETS YOU BUY AMMO FROM WHEREVER YOU ARE, WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY FOR THE UPCOMING BATTLE, IN MY OPINION. *****NOTE***** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- *****BOSS: DR. NEFARIOUS***** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Nefarious has three attacks that he cycles through in this phase. The first attack is him sending holographic-like images towards you fast. Simply strafe around him while using a lock-on mod equipped weapon to avoid it. The second attack is spraying two lines of bullets across the ground. Jump to avoid these. The third attack is a beam coming down from the sky and sending a shockwave across the arena. These come fast, so be sure to jump to avoid them. Remember to utilize any Nanotech crates on the end of the arena should you need it. Once Nefarious loses some health, he feigns death and you'll have to go through a series of enemies. When you get close to Nefarious, he will fire a purple laser at you. Move as close as you can to him to get him to move further away. As you continue along the path, some Rangers will beam down and give you support. As you get close to him again, he'll begin fire missiles that show their targets on the ground, similar to some enemies and Gary in the Annihilation Nation challenges. When you get to the arena, he'll cycle between the previous attacks. After he gets through all 3, he'll go up in the air and either fire the purple laser or shoot the missiles with the targets on the ground. Whichever one he does is random, but after around 4-5 rounds of doing that, he'll go back on the ground and cycle through the 3 attacks starting with the shockwave. The PDA makes this battle much easier, since you can just buy more ammo for a heavy weapon like the Annihilator and make quick work of him. After you defeat this incarnation of Nefarious, the Biobliterator will transform into a giant robot. Luckily, Qwark heeds Clank's words of wisdom earlier and joins in the battle. Quickly enter your ship nearby and start blasting Nefarious. He only has two attacks during this phase. He will fire missiles straight, which can be easily avoided by always moving in one direction. The other attack he has is to fire pseudo-homing missiles, which can easily be avoided by either ascending or descending until they pass. Keep firing upon Nefarious' robot until he goes down. Congratulations! You have beaten the game! Sit back and enjoy the ending. ************NOTE After the credits, you'll be prompted with a choice. You can time warp back to before you've beaten Nefarious with Square. Or you can begin Challenge Mode with Circle. In challenge mode, you start a new game against tougher enemies, but all of your experience, weapons, armor and money from the current game carry over. If you want to get everything in the game, you'll need to do Challenge mode. Good luck. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ =======================| | + V. WEAPONS + =======================| | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ This section will detail every weapon that is available in UYA. There are 20 weapons in total that you can buy from Gadgetron vendors throughout the game. I will begin with listing when it first comes available, then the initial ammo you have, followed by the cost and initial power. The changes from version to version will follow with the Challenge modes changes rounding up the action. All weapons can be upgraded up to V8, with the exception of the RY3NO, which can only go up to V5. All weapons have one major name change occuring at V5. After that, all weapons have MEGA for V6, GIGA for V7 and OMEGA for V8. For example, the Shock Blaster becomes the Shock Cannon at V5, then V6 becomes Mega Shock Cannon and so on for the rest. The Mega upgrades that you can buy are V6. V6-V8 can only be gotten in Challenge mode. The Mega upgrades become available at any vendor when you get the weapon to V5. The Gadgetron discount works for all Mega weapons purchases, but note that you will have to pay for the upgrades for the weapons that might have been free from Slim Cognito as well. _____________ /SHOCK BLASTER\ --------------------------- AVAILABILITY: Beginning of game on Veldin from a Ranger AMMO: 30 (4 rounds per ammo pickup) COST: N/A POWER: 40 V2 CHANGES - Increased to 35 rounds of ammo - Can hold Circle then release for a stronger blast - Increased power to 50 V3 CHANGES - Increased to 40 rounds of ammo - Lock-On Mod - Increased power to 60 V4 CHANGES - Shock Mod - Increased power to 80 V5 CHANGES - Becomes the SHOCK CANNON - Charge up to release a beam (beam can be swept across to hit more than one enemy) - Increased ammo to 50 - Increased power to 100 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 420,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 1100 V7 CHANGES - Increased power to 1400 - Increased ammo to 55 rounds V8 CHANGES - Increased power to 2100 - Increased ammo to 60 rounds The Shock Blaster should be familiar to those that have played the previous games. It is definitely more effective at close range. It's a good weapon at the beginning of the game, but loses its value towards the end. It's still a reliable weapon to fall back on when you need one. I know I didn't find myself using it much towards the end of the game. --------------------------- ______________ /NITRO LAUNCHER\ --------------------------- AVAILABILITY: Beginning of game on Veldin from a Ranger AMMO: 8 (1 round per ammo pickup) COST: N/A POWER: 200 V2 CHANGES - Acid Mod - Increased power to 240 V3 CHANGES - Lock-On Mod - Increased ammo to 10 rounds - Increased power to 300 V4 CHANGES - Bigger blast radius - Increased power to 400 V5 CHANGES - Becomes NITRO ERUPTOR - Bigger blast radius - Launches spread of energy missiles with each shot - Increased ammo to 12 rounds - Increased power to 800 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 380,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 4200 V7 CHANGES - Increased power to 5000 - Increased ammo to 14 rounds V8 CHANGES - Increased power to 6000 - Increased ammo to 16 rounds The Nitro Launcher is a good weapon on groups of enemies because of its grenade-like properties. The destructive power of its upgrades makes the low ammo count much less noticable. Of course, the bombs seem to lag in the air a bit too much when you get the Lock-On Mod, so avoid it if you can. --------------------------- _________ /N60 STORM\ --------------------------- AVAILABILITY: When you first arrive on Planet Florana AMMO: 150 (15 per ammo pickup) COST: 15,000 bolts POWER: 150 V2 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 175 rounds - Increased power to 175 - Shots ricochet off walls V3 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 200 rounds - Inreased power to 200 V4 CHANGES - Shock Mod - Increased ammo to 225 - Increased power to 250 V5 CHANGES - Becomes N90 HURRICANE - Increased rate of fire - Shots reflect off anything they hit - Increased ammo to 300 rounds - Increased power to 350 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 460,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 3500 V7 CHANGES - Increased power to 5000 - Increased ammo to 350 rounds V8 CHANGES - Increased power to 6000 - Increased ammo to 400 rounds The N60 Storm is UYA's take on the Blaster and the Lancer from the previous two games. It is about the same as the last two, with maybe a bit more power behind it. It's good for a while, but you'll notice it start to do less damage to enemies in the latter half of the game, but it's still a reliable weapon to fall back on should you need to do so. --------------------------- ___________ /PLASMA WHIP\ --------------------------- AVAILABILITY: When you first go to Florana AMMO: 25 (3 per ammo pickup) COST: 7,500 bolts POWER: 40 V2 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 30 rounds - Increased power to 50 V3 CHANGES - Plasma so hot, it turns blue - Anything lashed takes massive damage - Increased ammo to 35 rounds - Increased power to 70 V4 CHANGES - Jump attack generates shockwave - Increased ammo to 40 rounds - Increased power to 100 V5 CHANGES - Becomes QUANTUM WHIP - Combo attacks emits razor sharp sonic waves - Increased ammo to 50 rounds - Increased power to 140 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 180,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 1400 V7 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 55 rounds - Increased power to 1600 V8 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 60 rounds - Increased power to 2400 The Plasma Whip is quite weak when compared to the other weapons in the game. The regular attacks are insanely low damage-wise, but the best use of this weapon comes by throwing it. To throw the Plasma Whip, hold R1 and press Circle. --------------------------- ________ /INFECTOR\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: When you first arrive on the Phoenix AMMO: 15 (2 per ammo pickup) COST: 18,000 POWER: 180 V2 CHANGES - Also affects nearby enemies that are badly damaged - Increased power to 240 V3 CHANGES - Splash damage on impact - Increased ammo to 18 rounds - Increased power to 320 V4 CHANGES - Increased rate of infection - Increased power to 400 V5 CHANGES - Becomes INFECTO-BOMB - Launches charge that explodes and infects all enemies within blast radius - Increased ammo to 20 rounds - Increased power to 600 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 220,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 4000 V7 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 25 rounds - Increased power to 5000 V8 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 30 rounds - Increased power to 6000 The Infector is a pretty weak weapon on its own, but the fact that it can infect enemies and make them do your bidding for a short time is what it makes it somewhat worthwhile. Unfortunately, the larger enemies only stay infected for a few seconds and the smaller enemies aren't even worth infecting. --------------------------- ___________ /SUCK CANNON\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: First trip to the Phoenix AMMO: N/A COST: 8,000 bolts POWER: 200 V2 CHANGES - Range increases - Shots will ricochet from one target to another - Increased power to 260 V3 CHANGES - Enemies set on fire when shot out - Increased capacity - Increased power to 320 V4 CHANGES - Increased power to 440 V5 CHANGES - Becomes VORTEX CANNON - Shoots flaming comets - Increased power to 600 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 100,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 4200 V7 CHANGES - Increased power to 5000 V8 CHANGES - Increased power to 6000 The Suck Cannon is a decent weapon when it comes down to using it. You can suck up crates to use for ammo in case there aren't any little enemies around. A popular tactic to use is to suck up ammo crates for you to use later on in a level, so you won't have to rely on searching for any vendors. Of course, all of that is pointless once the PDA is obtained, although the early availability of the Suck Cannon makes it a good strategy. --------------------------- ______________ /SPITTING HYDRA\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: When you first arrive on Marcadia AMMO: 15 (2 from ammo pickup) COST: 40,000 bolts POWER: 200 V2 CHANGES - Target up to four enemies - Increased power to 240 V3 CHANGES - Target up to five enemies - Increased power to 280 V4 CHANGES - Target up to six enemies - Increased power to 320 V5 CHANGES - Becomes TEMPEST - Target up to seven enemies - Increased power to 400 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 540,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 3200 V7 CHANGES - Increased power to 5400 - Increased ammo to 18 rounds V8 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 20 rounds - Increased power to 6000 The Spitting Hydra is definitely one of the more unique additions to the arsenal in UYA. You have to hold down the fire button so the weapon can lock on to enemies. How many you can lock on to depends on the level. It's not too bad of a weapon, but it's mediocre in its abilities when it comes to some others. --------------------------- ______________ /AGENTS OF DOOM\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: When you first go to Annihilation Nation AMMO: 6 (0 per ammo pickup) COST: 60,000 bolts POWER: 240 V2 CHANGES - Agents now have a portable laser cannon - Once cannon out of ammo, resort to kamikaze attack - Increased power to 400 V3 CHANGES - Agents now carry rapid fire lasers - Increased ammo to 8 rounds - Increased power to 660 V4 CHANGES - Agents now fly with jetpacks and retain same weaponry from last levels - Increased power to 2000 V5 CHANGES - Becomes AGENTS OF DREAD - Armed with heat seeking rockets - When out of ammo, they self-destruct, causing a nuclear explosion - Increased power to 6000 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 660,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 8000 V7 CHANGES - Inreased ammo to 10 rounds - Increased power to 10000 V8 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 12 rounds - Increased power to 12000 The little menacing creatures return in UYA! Although they may look a bit undaunting at the beginning, simply level them up to see their destructive power. After they run out of ammo in the later levels, they will resort to their kamikaze attack. Also, you cannot pick up any ammo from Gadgetron boxes, meaning the only way to regenerate ammo is from a vendor or from the PDA. --------------------------- __________ /FLUX RIFLE\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: When you first go to Aquatos AMMO: 10 (0 per ammo pickup) COST: 75,000 bolts POWER: 300 V2 CHANGES - Can pierce through enemies - Increased ammo to 12 rounds - Increased power to 400 V3 CHANGES - Can fire through multiple enemies - Increased power to 500 V4 CHANGES - Fires explosive shots that will damage any enemy standing near point of impact - Increased power to 1600 V5 CHANGES - Becomes SPLITTER RIFLE - More damage with each shot - Increased ammo to 15 rounds - Increased power to 2800 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 340,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 5200 V7 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 18 rounds - Increased power to 7000 V8 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 20 rounds - Increased power to 8400 The sniper rifle makes a return to UYA and is always a welcome addition in my eyes. This weapon becomes very useful and powerful as you get higher in levels, since the piercing feature is a wonderful add-on. It's especially useful when getting the more powerful enemies before they can see you. This is definitely a very strong weapon. Also, you cannot pick up any ammo from Gadgetron boxes, meaning the only way to regenerate ammo is from a vendor or from the PDA. --------------------------- ___________ /ANNIHILATOR\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: When you first arrive on Tyhrranosis AMMO: 20 (2 per ammo pickup) COST: 150,000 bolts POWER: 500 V2 CHANGES - Rockets scatter explosive mines when they impact on the target - Increased power to 600 V3 CHANGES - Mines gain some homing capabilities - Increased ammo to 22 rounds - Increased power to 800 V4 CHANGES - Improved tracking on both missiles and mines - Lock-On Mod - Increased power to 1100 V5 CHANGES - Becomes DECIMATOR - Heat seeking missiles released on impact - Increased ammo to 25 rounds - Increased power to 1400 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 580,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 3000 V7 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 28 rounds - Increased power to 4000 V8 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 30 rounds - Increased power to 5000 The classic rocket launcher returns once again to the Ratchet & Clank universe. It's a decent weapon only because it seems to lack some power behind it like some other weapons. --------------------------- _________________ /HOLO SHIELD GLOVE\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: After you defeat Momma Tyhrranoid, first available on the dropship afterwards AMMO: 8 (1 per ammo pickup) COST: 30,000 bolts POWER: 200 V2 CHANGES - Shields suck HP from enemies and transfers to Ratchet (limited range and Ratchet needs to be hurt) - Increased power to 300 V3 CHANGES - Shields absorb enemy shots and will discharge an energy shot to any nearby - Increased ammo to 10 rounds - Increased power to 400 V4 CHANGES - HP Drain effect enhanced - Shields more durable and bigger - Increased power to 500 V5 CHANGES - Becomes ULTRASHIELD LAUNCHER - Increased ammo to 12 rounds - Increased power to 600 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 140,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 1000 V7 CHANGES - Increased power to 1500 V8 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 14 rounds - Increased power to 2000 This is a horrible addition to UYA's arsenal, simply because it doesn't have many practical uses once you learn to maneuver properly. Also, the Vampiric effect isn't anything special, since you have to be so close to the enemy for it to work. --------------------------- ______________ /DISC BLADE GUN\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: When you first arrive on the Obani Moons AMMO: 25 (2 per ammo pickup) COST: 175,000 bolts POWER: 500 V2 CHANGES - Home in on a new target each time it ricochets off of a wall - Increased power to 600 V3 CHANGES - Can ricochet off of enemies as well now - Increased power to 1400 V4 CHANGES - Longer range and better homing capabilities - Discs also cause more damage when they explode - Increased power to 2400 V5 CHANGES - Becomes MULTI-DISC GUN - Rapid fires homing discs that ricochet with each hit - Each will split into discs on impact, up to a maximum of 16 per shot - Increased power to 3600 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 500,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 4400 V7 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 28 rounds - Increased power to 5600 V8 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 30 rounds - Increased power to 8400 Another return from Going Commando and a decent weapon to fall back on when you are out of ammo for the better ones. The fact that the discs split into other ones at later levels makes this a decent weapon. --------------------------- ____________ /RIFT INDUCER\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: When you first get to Holostar Studios AMMO: 8 (1 per ammo pickup) COST: 180,000 bolts POWER: 1000 V2 CHANGES - Black holes in close proximity will combine together, creating a stronger suction - Increased power to 1300 V3 CHANGES - Lock-On Mod - Increased ammo to 10 rounds - Increased power to 1500 V4 CHANGES - Black holes suck enemies from farther away - Increased power to 1700 V5 CHANGES - Becomes RIFT RIPPER - Black holes will electricute any enemies near it - Increased ammo to 12 rounds - Increased power to 2000 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 780,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 4000 V7 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 14 rounds - Increased power to 5000 V8 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 16 rounds - Increased power to 6000 A wonderful addition to the arsenal of UYA and my personal favorite. The fact that you can increase the size of the black hole on the later versions makes this a wonderful weapon. --------------------------- ___________ /QWACK-O-RAY\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: When you go to Aridia AMMO: N/A COST: 200,000 POWER: 1000 V2 CHANGES - Ducks will lay explosive eggs - Increased power to 1500 V3 CHANGES - Eggs laid have some homing capabilities - Increased power to 2000 V4 CHANGES - Ducks seek out and destroy nearby targets - Ducks also draw enemy fire - Increased power to 2500 V5 CHANGES - Becomes QWACK-O-BLITZER - Transforms enemies in flaming ducks that will fly at your side and blitz enemies, only one at a time - Ducks will also explode in a huge fireball - Increased power to 3000 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 300,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 4000 V7 CHANGES - Increased power to 5000 V8 CHANGES - Increased power to 6000 What can be said of the Qwack-O-Ray? It is arguably one of the best weapons in the games when fully powered up. Once you get it to V5, it might become your primary weapon at times, simply because of the flaming duck. Add to the fact that it doesn't require any ammo and you have yourself a kickass weapon. --------------------------- ______________ /MINITURRET GUN\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: Aquatos, when you first find Slim Cognito AMMO: 10 (1 per ammo pickup) COST: 40,000 bolts (free with R&C2 save) POWER: 600 V2 CHANGES - Increased power to 800 V3 CHANGES - Turrets now fire a blast of ice explosives - Increased ammo to 12 rounds - Increased power to 1000 V4 CHANGES - Turrets will seek out targets faster - Increased power to 1200 V5 CHANGES - Becomes MEGATURRET GLOVE - Fire guided mini-missiles that chase enemies - Will teleport and move to strategic locations if necessary - Increased power to 2080 MEGA UPGRADE COST: 620,000 bolts V6 CHANGES - Increased power to 10400 V7 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 14 rounds - Increased power to 13000 V8 CHANGES - Increased ammo to 16 rounds - Increased power to 15600 This weapon is the most powerful weapon in the game, as you can see by its 15600 power for V8. ARMOR + =======================| | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ There are four different armors in the game to buy, each available after a certain section of the story. I will pretty much only put when they become available, how much they cost and the description given to them in the game. All armors can be bought on the Phoenix, in the little alcove next to the weapons vendor. _________________ /ALPHA COMBAT SUIT\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: Begin game with it COST: N/A DESCRIPTION: A standard issue combat pilot suit that Ratchet picked up in the Bogon galaxy. The Alpha suit is comfortable and durable, but it won't stop a laser blast. Ratchet is going to need something stronger. --------------------------- ________________ /MAGNAPLATE ARMOR\ --------------------------- AVAILABLE: As soon as you get to the Phoenix for first time COST: 10,000 bolts DESCRIPTION: A full-body personal armor system reinforced with an energy-absorbing alloy called Magnaplate. The Infernox suit combines Carbonox alloys imported from the Bogon galaxy, a nanotech control system, and an onboard Quantum Hellfire generator to create a blazing barrier of total protection. Test results indicate that the Infernox system reduces damage by an unbelievable 80%. --------------------------------------- +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ =======================| | + VIII. TITANIUM BOLTS + =======================| | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ The hidden Bolts return once again in this installment of Ratchet & Clank, only they're Titanium this time around. A majority of the stages have at least one Titanium Bolt, with some having none and some having four. You can check on how many Bolts you have by checking the Item screen on the Pause menu. Besides getting a trophy for collecting all 40, Bolts are used to buy skins under the Special section. _______ /FLORANA\ (TOTAL: 2) --------------------------------------- 1) When you get to the second Gadgetron vendor, you'll have to float down to a platform below. When you land, look back and you should see some floating platforms and a ladder. Climb the ladder and you should see a Bolt in a recessed area. 2) When you're going through the Path of Death, there is a bolt off to the right in between a falling platform and the first fire trap. Long jump to the alcove and grab the Bolt. --------------------------------------- ________________ /STARSHIP PHOENIX\ (TOTAL: 9) --------------------------------------- 1) Simply complete the VR Simulation training to get this Bolt. The last training mission is Nerves of Titanium. 2) Complete Helga's VR Training course to get a Bolt. 3) Collect all 100 tokens in the first Qwark Vid-Comic to receive a Bolt. You automatically get it after collecting the final token. All of the tokens are in plain sight, so it shouldn't be any trouble. 4) Collect all 100 tokens in the second Qwark Vid-Comic. This is where things start to get tricky. After the first set of moving platforms is another room with some. There is an alcove on the right side with a red token; simply jump and grab the ledge. When you get to the moving platform where you have to hang on, there will be another red token on a platform above the next horizontally moving platform. Wall jump to get it. Don't forget to punch the wall in the lower left corner of the area with the second hanging platform. The last red token is between two walls with a blue token triangle, just before the last set of platforms. 5) Collect all 100 tokens in the third Vid-Comic. There is a red token right above the door that opens after defeating the bomb-dropping enemies. Remember to look in areaa by jumping off of walls. 6) Collect all 100 tokens in the fourth Vid-Comic. There is a red token underneath the taxi. Simply go underneath and drop twice to find it. There is also one in the air while on the taxi. After you climb the ladder after the second swarm of insects (after the laser firing one), jump to the left to find a red token. After you climb a ladder and see a large round window, go to the left to find a red token. 7) Collect all 100 tokens in the fifth Vid-Comic. When you get to the first big area, jump to the left to grab a ledge, then wall jump to another ledge above to find a red token. When you get to the three ice walls, don't destroy the third one, but use the first tower to jump to the left to get a red token. --------------------------------------- ________ /MARCADIA\ (TOTAL: 12) --------------------------------------- 1) When you get to the stairs with a small pool in between not far in the stage, there will be a Bolt in the next area. Off to the far right is an area where you can Wall Jump. Do that and follow the small path to the Bolt. 2) You will need the Gravity Boots. Head to the Laser Defense Facility and make your way to the area just before you met Big Al. Notice the magnetic walkway covering the floor. Walk up to the ceiling to find a Bolt. 3) You will need the Gravity Boots. Go to the Laser Defense Facility and head past the bridge that you made. Head into the next room, the one past the spider, then go into the next one after that. You should be in the room with the splitting lasers. Go into the next room and you should see a magnetic walkway to the left of where you entered. Climb it and you should see a hole on the left wall. You need to redirect the laser into the hole and onto the target. Go back two rooms and find the magnetic walkway there. You'll need to redirect the laser onto the target on the wall from where you just came. This will open a door right next to the walkway, where you'll find the Bolt. --------------------------------------- ___________________ /ANNIHILATION NATION\ (TOTAL: 14) --------------------------------------- 1) After navigating through the first set of cannons and the robot strafing back and forth with the laser, look up on the ledge to find a Bolt. Simply High Jump to that ledge to get it. This can be done on the gauntlet when you first arrive on the planet. 2) You need to unlock "Maze of Blaze" before getting this one, which is available after having to go to Annihilation Nation the second time. Start the stage and go through it like normal until you get to a bridge where there are platforms on both sides and enemies with lasers. Jump on the left side and float over to the Bolt on a lone platform. --------------------------------------- _______ /AQUATOS\ (TOTAL: 19) --------------------------------------- 1) This one is located after the first swimming section. You'll need to exit the water and let Skid through the door by stepping on the glowing button. Skid will go through and hack the bridge. Instead of going across the bridge, drop underneath and go to the other end to find the Bolt. 2) This one is located in the second underwater area. Once you dive down into the first area, find the bombs nearby and go directly across from it to find the Bolt in a little alcove. Remember that the Bolt is in the area when you first dive down. 3) You need the Hacker for this one. Just after the first bridge in the section you did with Skidd, there should be a Hacker door to your left. Solve the puzzle and unlock the door, then take the elevator to the Bolt. 4) You will need the Gravity Boots. Go to the sewers and get to the second level. Look at your map and find the northernmost passageway; that's where we need to be. The Bolt is in that passageway. 5) You will need the Gravity Boots. Go to the Sewers and go to the upper section of it. Look at your map and head towards the second set of bridges from the right. Look up in the air and take notice of the Hypershot targets. There is a Bolt in the air in between the targets, so make sure you grab while swinging. --------------------------------------- ___________ /TYHRRANOSIS\ (TOTAL: 21) --------------------------------------- 1) You need to be at the part where you ride around in a buggy and take out four domes to shut down the turrets. Go towards the one on the right side of the map. Before going in the building housing the dome, simply go around it on the right side to find a Bolt. 2) You will need the Hypershot for this one. Go to the big field with the Turbo-Slider and where you have to destroy four large turrets. On your map, find the path that goes underground on the west side and continue on that path until you notice a Hypershot target. It's right before the steps and the saucer enemies. Swing over and grab the Bolt. --------------------------------------- ____ /DAXX\ (TOTAL: 23) --------------------------------------- 1) Hypershot over the water to the right of the ship and take the elevator platform on the left when presented with two paths. Continue on this path as normal and Hypershot over the chasm then open the door with The Hacker. You should be in a circular room now, with a locked door on the left side. That'll be the target, but continue into the next room and clear it. On the ledge is a glowing button on the floor and when you step on it, it will open up the door in the previous room. Use your Charge Boots to hurry back into the other room and go through the door. Follow this new path until you find the Bolt. 2) Take the right path and defeat the large ship at the end, then go inside the building and view the video of Courtney Gears. Once that's over, head outside and find the cab, but don't use it yet. Instead, look to the right to see some Hypershot targets. Follow that path and you'll land in a little area with a Bolt. --------------------------------------- ___________ /OBANI MOONS\ (TOTAL: 25) --------------------------------------- 1) This is on the moon where you have to redirect the lasers. This one will be a bit tricky considering the contour of the planet. On the lower levels is a little alcove with the Bolt, but it is protected by an indestructible forcefield. The field is easily found by locating the very long rock bridge nearby. Now, locate the circular platform, also on the lower level, with a Hypershot target on it. Near it is a tunnel through the rock that will lead straight to the Bolt. Activate the target and quickly go through the tunnel, crossing the lava and going into the alcove to grab the Bolt. 2) This one is on the moon, "Pollux". From the start, cross the nearby bridge and clear the area of enemies. You should see a jump pad nearby. Use that to get the ledge above and you should see the Bolt just laying there. --------------------------------------- ________________ /HOLOSTAR STUDIOS\ (TOTAL: 28) --------------------------------------- 1) This one is easy to get. When you're controlling Ratchet, progress through the level normally until you happen upon the elevator that you have to activate with the Hacker. Once you're at top, the next room is a theater style room. Clear the room and find the seats to the right of where you entered; the Bolt is on top. 2) You will need the Gravity Boots for this Bolt. There is a magnetic walkway near where your ship and a vendor is. Take it and go down into the hole, which is where you'll see two spiraling magnetic walkways. For now, only worry about the one that starts at the bottom. Take it and you should be in a room with a walkway leading straight up. Follow this into the next room and you should see a tower. Walk towards the top of the tower, while avoiding the falling debris, and you should see the Bolt at the top. 3) You will need the Gravity Boots for this one. There are two ways to get this one; a very easy way and a bit trickier way. For the trickier path, go to the two spiraling walkways and get on the lower one. When you reach a high point, walk off the edge and immediately slam on the glide button. Hopefully, you should land on the other walkway, which leads into a small alcove with the Bolt. The easier way to get this involves the path that lead you into the room with #2. Walk to the top of that path, but don't go into the next room. Instead, jump off to the balcony on the right side. You can now glide down to the alcove with the Bolt. --------------------------------------- ________________ /ZELDRIN STARPORT\ (TOTAL: 30) --------------------------------------- 1) Go on the long path that will eventually lead to the Bolt Grabber V2. Right before the first Hypershot target, look to your right to find a breakable ship. Destroy it and there is the Bolt is a little alcove. 2) Past the second Hypershot target is a large area with very large cogs on the left and right sides. Using the boxes on the left, jump up to the platform, then look across to see the Bolt in an alcove. Glide across to get it. --------------------------------------- __________ /METROPOLIS\ (TOTAL: 33) --------------------------------------- 1) In the very first room, there is a breakable window with a path. Simply follow the path and Hypershot to the Bolt at the end. 2) Continue normally until you get to an open area where a large ship and two green laser men pop up. After taking them out, look to your right to see a ledge just off the normal path. Follow this ledge around and High Jump to get the Bolt. 3) You need to start the "Tower Attack" Battle mission. As soon as you start, turn to the left and find the brownish colored tower. On the other side of the tower is a magnetic walkway with the Bolt on it. Simply fly your ship into the Bolt. --------------------------------------- __________ /CRASH SITE\ (TOTAL: 34) --------------------------------------- 1) This one is quite easy to find and requires the Gravity Boots. As soon as you land, look to your right to find a magnetic walkway. The Bolt is on it. --------------------------------------- ______ /ARIDIA\ (TOTAL: 36) --------------------------------------- 1) You can get this Bolt from any mission that involves the large, open area, which are missions 3, 4 and 5. Once you start one of the missions, search and find the very large bridge (on lower end of map). Go to either side of the bridge and you should see a magnetic walkway. Use that to go under the bridge and get the Bolt. 2) Unlock the final mission, X12 Endgame. Play the stage normally until you just pass the bridge and are in sight of the large turrets. As soon as you cross the bridge, go to the right and find a magnetic walkway. Use this path to get behind the base, where you'll find the Bolt. --------------------------------------- _______________ /QWARK'S HIDEOUT\ (TOTAL: 37) --------------------------------------- 1) Take the path that goes behind your ship. Once you are on the magnetic walkway, go past the first two electric wires and to the edge of the walkway to see the Bolt. You will need to go above and drop off of the walkway, then glide down to the Bolt. --------------------------------------- _____ /KOROS\ (TOTAL: 39) --------------------------------------- 1) Progress through the stage normally until you encounter the boxes stacked like steps. Climb to the, but don't continue into the next area. Instead, jump on the ledge of the circular building to the right and go to the end of the little path, then jump inside the fenced area to grab the Bolt. 2) Progress through the stage normally until you get to the big, open area right after the stacked boxes. Clear the area first and go towards the silo, then turn left and go around the building to the back. You should see a ladder going up, so climb it and grab the Bolt. --------------------------------------- ______________ /COMMAND CENTER\ (TOTAL: 40) --------------------------------------- 1) When you ride the elevator after the first Tyhrranoid talk, simply fall off the ledge to your left to find the Bolt. --------------------------------------- +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ =======================| | + IX. TROPHIES + =======================| | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Trophies are yet another collection item that was added to UYA. There are two types of trophies: character trophies and floor trophies. Character trophies, totaling 9 all together, are hidden throughout the stages just like the Titanium Bolts. Floor trophies, however, require a specific task be done, like get all 30 Skill Points. I will list the Character Trophies first and then the floor ones after. ______________ /RATCHET TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- This trophy is located on Florana. After defeating the tribesmen when the bridges go up, you should encounter the first wall jumping segment. Jump back and forth until you reach the top on the right side, then jump across the gap you just climbed to the other side. You should be in an area with some crates and a Nanotech crate. You need to traverse the ledge on the left side to an area with the trophy. --------------------------------------- _________ /AL TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- On the upper right path during the buggy part on Tyhrranosis, you should see it on the ledge just before the building and after the first gap in the land. It's on the right side. --------------------------------------- ______________ /PLUMBER TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- This one is on Planet Daxx. Follow the path to your left until you get to the Charge Boots. Before you drop back down to your ship, look to the right just outside to see a ledge. The trophy is on that ledge. --------------------------------------- ____________ /CLANK TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- This one is on Holostar Studios and you need Clank. Once you have Clank back, teleport back to Clank's trailer and continue along the path until you find the elevator activated with the Hacker. Take it to the top and look to the left of the elevator. You need to perform a High Jump onto the ledge, which is where the trophy is. --------------------------------------- ______________ /SKRUNCH TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- This one is found on Metropolis. Head along normally until you get to the second Gadgetron weapons vendor. In that very room is a breakable window on the right side, which is where the trophy is located. Simply jump to it and grab it. --------------------------------------- ____________________ /DR. NEFARIOUS TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- This one is on Crash Site. Look at your map and notice the very sharp left turn at the beginning. The trophy is on a ledge on the right side of that elbow. --------------------------------------- ____________________ /CAPTAIN QWARK TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- This one is on Qwark's Hideout. Progress through the level normally until you get just outside of Qwark's room. Both to the left and right are little alcoves with some crates. In the left alcove is the trophy. --------------------------------------- _____________________ /COURTNEY GEARS TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- This one is on Koros. Progress through the stage normally until you encounter the boxes stacked like steps. Climb to the, but don't continue into the next area. Instead, jump on the ledge of the circular building to the right and you'll find the trophy in a little alcove. --------------------------------------- _______________ /LAWRENCE TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- This one is on Command Center. Progress through the level normally until you come to the Hypershot platform. Go up the ramp to the next section and immediately look to your left at the top of the ramp. You should see a ladder on the canister. Climb it and get the trophy. --------------------------------------- _________________________ /TITANIUM COLLECTOR TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- Just collect all 40 Titanium Bolts to get this trophy. --------------------------------------- ___________________ /SKILL MASTER TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- Get all 30 Skill Points to get this trophy. --------------------------------------- __________________ /NANO FINDER TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- To get this trophy, all you need to do is get your HP to 200 on Challenge mode. --------------------------------------- ___________________________________ /ANNIHILATION NATION CHAMPION TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- You have to go through and finish all of the Annihilation Nation challenges to get this trophy. --------------------------------------- ____________________________ /FRIEND OF THE RANGERS TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- You have to complete all of the battle missions that involve the Rangers, including the optional ones. --------------------------------------- ____________________ /OMEGA ARSENAL TROPHY\ --------------------------------------- Get every single weapon up to Omega level, meaning V8. Of course the RY3NO only goes to V5. --------------------------------------- +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ =======================| | + X. SKILL POINTS + =======================| | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ 1) PLANET FLORANA - SQUEAKY CLEAN --------------------------------- Go through the Path of Death without getting hit. There will probably be two spots where you might get hit. The first spot is where the wall tries to crush you and there are some flame traps. You can use your long jump to get past this area without any troubles. The other spot is the large number of flame traps at the end. Notice the pattern and how some spots don't have any flames coming up. You can use these spots to get across unscathed, but flames will activate after you set foot on them, so don't stay too long on a pad. If you get hit, simply jump in the lava and start over from the beginning. 2) STARSHIP PHOENIX - STRIVE FOR ARCADE PERFECTION -------------------------------------------------- Get all 100 tokens on every Qwark Vid-Comic. Please refer to the Titanium Bolts section on how to obtain all 100 tokens on the last few stages. You also need to get the health upgrades in all 5 episodes. 1ST HEALTH - Right along the normal path. You can't miss it. 2ND HEALTH - Go through the stage normally until you get to three vertically moving platforms. On the third one, jump to the left while punching to locate a breakable wall with the health upgrade behind it. 3RD HEALTH - This one is near the beginning of the stage. After the initial swarm of robots, you'll encounter a conveyer belt and some lava. Right before you jump on the platform with the rolling bombs, drop down to find a ladder that leads down to a small alcove with the upgrade. 4TH HEALTH - This one is amongst all of the insect hives. When you reach the section where you jump left and right onto platforms (after the very large round window), the health upgrade is off to the left. On the second left platform, jump off of the edge and to the left to grab onto another. Keep going left to find it. 5TH HEALTH - On the first vertical corridor, the path should split left and right. Go left and you'll find the health upgrade. 3) STARSHIP PHOENIX - BEAT HELGA'S BEST TIME -------------------------------------------- You need to finish the Gadget training in under 50 seconds. This can be tough considering there is no timer on the screen. Also, do not try and do it the first time because of the hacker segments. 4) STARSHIP PHOENIX - TURN UP THE HEAT -------------------------------------- To get this point, all you need to do is purchase the Infernox Armor for 1,000,000 bolts when it becomes available. 5) STARSHIP PHOENIX - MONKEYING AROUND -------------------------------------- Once you return to the Phoenix from your first trip to Annihilation Nation, you should appear in the bridge. After the cutscene is over, locate Skrunch the monkey and chase him down close enough to hit him with your wrench. You don't have to do it now, but it's your first opportunity. 6) MARCADIA - REFLECT ON HOW TO SCORE ------------------------------------- You need to be in the Laser Facility for this point. You have to kill 25 enemies using the Reflector to hit them with the lasers. Avoid killing any with your weapons and try to kill them all with the lasers. 7) ANNIHILATION NATION - BASH THE BUG ------------------------------------- You need to defeat Scorpio with just your wrench on the challenge called "Scorpio." Get close to him when he is flinging the discs at you, then Hyper-Strike him until he moves away, then get behind him again and repeat. The only real danger you'll need to watch out for is the flamethrower attack, but hopefully you'll defeat him before you die. It's best to have a good amount of health before you try this one. 8) ANNIHILATION NATION - BE AN EIGHT TIME CHAMP ----------------------------------------------- You must complete all 8 gauntlet challenges. You have to wait until you go to Annihilation Nation the second time before you can get this. 9) ANNIHILATION NATION - FLEE FLAWLESSLY ---------------------------------------- You must go through any of the gauntlet stages without getting hit. It doesn't matter which one you finish, as long as you do one. One of the earlier gauntlets is recommended. 10) ANNIHILATION NATION - LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! ------------------------------------------------- During any of the gauntlet challenges, simply shoot down 5 of the floating cameras. This is pretty easy. 11) AQUATOS - SEARCH FOR SUNKEN TREASURE ---------------------------------------- During the two underwater sequences, you'll need to blow up all of the crates. Make sure to double check that you have gotten all of them. This is a pretty simple point. 12) AQUATOS - HIT THE MOTHERLOAD -------------------------------- You have to collect all 101 sewer crystals. It's helpful to have the Map-O-Matic since it points out any crystals on the map that you haven't obtained yet. You don't get the point until you've turned them all in. You also need the Gravity Boots to get to the upper section of the sewers. 13) TYHRRANOSIS - BE A SHARPSHOOTER ----------------------------------- You need to snipe 10 Tyhrranoids in the towers with your Flux Rifle. Make sure not to bring the kart with Skrunch, since he will automatically shoot at them. 14) DAXX - BUGS TO BIRDS ------------------------ You need to turn 15 Floranian Blood Flies into ducks with the Qwack-O-Ray. These are the little insects on the path just next to the vendor next to the the ship. It's not the path involving the Hypershot. 15) OBANI GEMINI - GET TO THE BELT ---------------------------------- This one is a bit tricky, so try and follow. You'll notice an asteroid belt floating around the entire moon and on that belt are two sets of platforms. You will need to find the highest platform with a jump pad on it. From the starting position, go straight until you reach the edge of the cliff, then turn a little left and find the platforms leading across. Just after you reach the next area, look to your left to see a raised piece of land. Take that jump pad to the next one, then take the next to the third platform. This is the highest platform with a jump pad. You can use the pad on this one to jump on the belt. Don't forget you need to land on one of the flat asteroids. 16) BLACKWATER CITY - BASH THE PARTY ------------------------------------ You need to kill 20 Tyhrranoids using only your wrench. This is possible on the first mission. A few Hyper-Strikes will take care of the large enemies, while the smaller ones are easy pickings. 17) HOLOSTAR STUDIOS - FEELING LUCKY? ------------------------------------- You need to get a jackpot on one of the slot machines. It's all pure luck, but it helps to play multiple slots at once. If all of them blow up before you get it, simply kill yourself and try again. You can either do it with Clank or Ratchet. Make sure to not stand near them while they're spinning, since three TNT boxes will make the machine blow up. 18) METROPOLIS - 2002 WAS A GOOD YEAR IN THE CITY ------------------------------------------------- Shoot down the gray blimp flying around the city. You can easily see it from your starting position. 19) CRASH SITE - SUCK IT UP! ---------------------------- You must kill 40 enemies using only the Suck Cannon. Suck up the smallest robots and crates, then shoot at the larger robots. Of course, a powered up Suck Cannon is definitely the most useful. 20) CRASH SITE - AIM HIGH ------------------------- You need to kill 10 Skreeducks, which are the Pteradactyls flying around the world. You can easily get 10 of them from your starting position when you land. I used the blaster, though the Flux Rifle is also good. 21) ARIDIA - ZAP BACK AT YA' ---------------------------- You need to kill 10 enemies with your Refractor. You'll need to reflect the mech enemies' lasers back at them and the other enemies when applicable. You need to do this all within one battle mission, meaning you can't destroy 5 in one and 5 in another. 22) ARIDIA - GO FOR HANG TIME ----------------------------- You need to get 2 seconds of air with the Turbo-Slider. This can easily be done on the third or fourth mission, when you have access to the vehicle. Get in it and head for the large mound of land on the one side of the area. Drive up it and steer to the left or right, depending on which way you're coming from, then land on the bridge next to it to get it easily. 23) QWARK'S HIDEOUT - BREAK THE DAN ----------------------------------- This one is a bit tricky to find on your own. Progress through the level normally until you get to small river with two small pieces of ice on it, which would be used to jump to the next area. Instead of going across, head to the right side of the area just before it, just to the right of the small alcove. You should notice a small gap in the wall. You need to jump to that gap, making sure not to hover since you can't wall jump after hovering, and Wall Jump to the top. Once at the top, you should see a snowman. Simply destroy it by any means to get the point. 24) KOROS - YOU BREAK IT, YOU WIN IT ------------------------------------ Smash up the robot base. It helps to have the Bolt Grabber V2, since you can just Hyper-Strike to destroy entire areas. 25) COMMAND CENTER - SPREAD YOUR GERMS -------------------------------------- You need to infect 30 enemies in the stage with your Infector. This can be hard considering some of the enemies' positions, but make it your primary weapon on this stage until you get the point. 26) PIRATE BOOTY! - SET A NEW RECORD FOR QWARK ---------------------------------------------- Beat 2:40 in Vid-Comic #1. You can quickly kill the serpent with your fists. 27) ARRIBA AMOEBA! - SET A NEW RECORD FOR QWARK ----------------------------------------------- Beat 2:10 in Vid-Comic #2. 28) SHADOW OF THE ROBOT - SET A NEW RECORD FOR QWARK ---------------------------------------------------- Beat 1:50 in Vid-Comic #3. 29) DEJA Q ALL OVER AGAIN - SET A NEW RECORD FOR QWARK ------------------------------------------------------ Beat 4:45 in Vid-Comic #4. Unload on Nefarious and use your fists until another weapon drops down, making short work of him. 30) THE SHAMING OF THE Q - SET A NEW RECORD FOR QWARK ----------------------------------------------------- Beat 2:00 in Vid-Comic #5. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ =======================| | + XI. OPTIONAL CHALLENGES + =======================| | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ ============= VR CHALLENGES ============= These are available to you the first time you are on the Phoenix. _______ /WARM UP\ ------------------------------ This challenge is very easy. You go against the robots with whatever weapons you have. There are 5 rounds. This opens Don't Look Down. ------------------------------ _______________ /DON'T LOOK DOWN\ ------------------------------ Pretty much the same as the last one, only the floor panels will disappear over time. There are 6 rounds. This opens The Shocker and Speed Round. ------------------------------ ___________ /THE SHOCKER\ ------------------------------ In this challenge, you can only use the Shocker weapon. There are 3 rounds and the Shocker is best up close. This opens up Wrench Beatdown. ------------------------------ ___________ /SPEED ROUND\ ------------------------------ You have 1 minute to destroy all the dummies using any of your weapons. This isn't hard at all considering there's only 2 rounds. This opens up Hot Stepper. ------------------------------ _______________ /WRENCH BEATDOWN\ ------------------------------ This could be a challenging test. You can only use your wrench to defeat 3 rounds of dummies. Remember to use your overhead smash when you can, especially on the flamethrower dummies. The floors will also disappear as you progress. You can also throw your wrench just as a capsule is lifting to snag a lot. ------------------------------ ___________ /HOT STEPPER\ ------------------------------ This challenge is similar to Don't Look Down, but the rounds have been increased to 8. This will open up 90 Second Slayer. ------------------------------ ________________ /90 SECOND SLAYER\ ------------------------------ You have 90 seconds to go through 3 rounds of dummies. The Shocker is a good weapon to take out large groups of enemies. You shouldn't have too much trouble with this. This opens up Nerves of Titanium. ------------------------------ __________________ /NERVES OF TITANIUM\ ------------------------------ This is the last challenge for the VR Simulation. You will have to endure 12 rounds of dummies. Watch your ammo and go for the boxes when you need it. The only way you can regain health is by filling up your EXP bar, thus increasing your nanotech. Get the Titanium Bolt after finishing the 12th round. ------------------------------ ========================== ANNIHILATION NATION PART 1 ========================== The first two not covered here are required for the story. The rest of these is simply a way to earn a lot of bolts and are completely optional. You can come back at any time to complete them. You can come back after you have acquired the Quack-O-Ray to make these challenges easier. A fully powered up Quack-O-Ray makes the fighting sections seem like a breeze, even on Challenge mode. Remember that these challenges will stay no matter where you are in the game. These are the challenges unlocked when you first go to Annihilation Nation. ______________ /CRISPY CRITTER\ ------------------------------ Start by going forward and go past the flame traps, making sure not to stay long on the falling platforms. Step on the switch and take out the enemies in the next room before going across. Turn right and jump to the next area while avoiding the flame traps. Enemies with lasers and ones with spinning spiked balls will appear. Take them out and continue forward. When you step on the second switch in the second room, little spinning blades will appear. Take them out and continue on the path until the end. This will open up Pyro Playground. ------------------------------ _______________ /PYRO PLAYGROUND\ ------------------------------ Time your jumps across the initial flame traps, then take out the enemies and step on the switch. When you get towards the end of the falling platforms path, laser cannons will pop up, so watch out for them. Take out the enemies in the next section, then time your jumps on the jutting platforms to the other side. Another switch, more enemies and then the end. This opens up Suicide Run. ------------------------------ ___________ /SUICIDE RUN\ ------------------------------ This course isn't really anything new, so just follow the path and take out the enemies until you get to the end. If you are on Challenge Mode, you can use your Charge Boots to get past the initial flame trap easily. Doesn't unlock anything. ------------------------------ _____________ /ROBOT RAMPAGE\ ------------------------------ It's time for a 12 round fight against ninjas, spinning little enemies, laser baddies and spinning spiked ball enemies. Watch out for the fans and laser field traps when they appear. At around round 10, a large turret cannon appears in the middle and will follow you around, so be sure to strafe continuously to avoid it. This opens up 90 Seconds of Carnage and Whip It Good. ------------------------------ ____________ /WHIP IT GOOD\ ------------------------------ This can be considered one of the more challenging courses in this set of challenges. You must defeat 6 rounds of enemies using only the Laser Whip. If you run out of ammo, you fail. Throwing the whip is the best way to complete this challenge. Hold R1 and press Circle to throw it. Make sure that you line up enemies and then throw it. An alternate strategy is to let the enemies take out each other. Dance around the enemies and lure them into taking out each other, then kill the last enemy that remains. This unlocks Hydra'N Seek. ------------------------------ ____________ /HYDRA'N SEEK\ ------------------------------ You must defeat 4 rounds of enemies using only the Spitting Hydra. Make sure to maximize all lock ons for the Hydra as to not waste any ammo. The targets turn red when you use the maximum amount of lock ons. Again, if you're running low on ammo, use the enemies attacks to your advantage by making them kill each other. This doesn't unlock anything. ------------------------------ _____________________ /90 SECONDS OF CARNAGE\ ------------------------------ You have 90 seconds to defeat 6 rounds of enemies. This shouldn't pose too much of a challenge, since all of your weapons are at your disposal. This unlocks Onslaught. ------------------------------ _________ /ONSLAUGHT\ ------------------------------ You have 2 minutes to defeat 9 rounds of enemies. Again, this shouldn't be too bad but there is one aspect that can make it difficult. Around round 7, the machine gun turret will appear in the center of the arena. The machine gun fire can destroy enemies, so use it to your advantage. This doesn't unlock anything. ------------------------------ ________________ /THE TERRIBLE TWO\ ------------------------------ You now have to fight two gladiators. Gary, the first challenger, has two attacks. He fires a laser-like beam, which can be avoided by sidejumping. His other attack is firing missiles, which are indicated by targets on the ground. Helen also has two attacks. She can jump on the ground and send out a shockwave. His other attack is swinging the laser whip when she's in close range. They switch in and out when you do enough damage to them. The order goes like this: Gary, Helen, Gary, Helen until defeated, then Gary until defeated. When you fight Helen for the last time, Gary will send out those missiles, so watch out for the targets. This unlocks Two Minute Warning. ------------------------------ __________________ /TWO MINUTE WARNING\ ------------------------------ You now have two minutes to defeat both of the gladiators. If you follow the same ideas from above, you shouldn't have too much trouble defeating both within the time limit. This will unlock Championship Bout. ------------------------------ _________________ /CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT\ ------------------------------ This is definitely the hardest of the first set of challenges. You have to go through 24 rounds of combat, then face down Gary and Helen in the final round. This is while the rules and traps of each round are completely random! Fortunate for you, the only rules you will encounter are timed rounds. After a few rounds, ammo boxes will start to appear, so be sure to take advantage of them if need be. Only bust your ass when you have timed rounds; otherwise, be cautious about the traps and enemies. This doesn't unlock anything. ------------------------------ ================== PLANET TYHRRANOSIS ================== The battle missions with the Rangers are unlocked after finishing off the Momma Tyhrranoid. These are optional missions and don't need to be done. ______________________________ /PART 1: ASSAULT ON KAVU ISLAND\ ----------------------------------------- Avoid the missiles as you freefall. As soon as you land, get ready to battle small Tyhrranoids, ones with guns and robots with lasers. After you clear out the area, head towards the bridge and turn to the bolt crank to extend it. As soon as the bridge is finished, more enemies will appear and cross the bridge towards you. Cross the bridge and take out the enemies in the area to progress farther. There will be four missile launchers and some other enemies for the final leg of this challenge. ----------------------------------------- _________________________________ /PART 2: DOGFIGHT OVER KAVU ISLAND\ ----------------------------------------- You will now control the hovercraft in this challenge. X ascends and Square descends. The right stick is used to aim, while the R1 button fires. Your goal in this challenge is to destroy all of the dropships as they show up (the larger ships). As long as you keep moving, you shouldn't have any problems. ----------------------------------------- _____________________________ /PART 3: OPERATION THUNDERBOLT\ ----------------------------------------- You control the hovercraft again in this challenge. This time, you will have to destroy every red blip on your map. Keep an eye out for the missile launchers and slowly work your way through the level to finish it. ----------------------------------------- ________________________ /PART 4: THE FINAL BATTLE\ ----------------------------------------- You're on foot again and you have to destroy every red blip on the radar. Make your way to the bridge and you'll be ambushed by saucers and other enemies. Take them out and proceed forward. Keep going forward, taking out the enemies until you reach the second bridge. Take out the enemies and proceed forward with caution, since machine gun turrets will now be in range. Once you destroy them and the last of the enemies, you'll finish this set of missions. ----------------------------------------- ========================== ANNIHILATION NATION PART 2 ========================== After you go to Planet Daxx and view the cutscene about Courtney Gears' videos, go back to Annihilation Nation and do the gauntlet to meet Gears. Afterwards, the rest of the challenges should be unlocked. _____________ /MAZE OF BLAZE\ --------------------------- Go across the falling platforms into the room with the switch. Two laser enemies will appear, so defeat them and press the switch to open the left door. Go past the next set of flame traps and you'll meet up with a bunch of spinning blades and two more laser guards. Take them all out and continue on the path past the laser cannons. You'll come upon a switch room with ninjas, so take them out. Two more laser guards will appear on the ledges in the hallway, so kill them and go past the switch room. Jutting walls and flame traps, followed by a spinning spiked ball enemy and the finish. This unlocks Cremation Station. --------------------------- _________________ /CREMATION STATION\ --------------------------- First are some falling platforms and a laser robot on the other side firing at you. Another switch room and another area with falling ledges. In the next area, there will be 3 laser robots and some spinning blades. Time your jumps across the flame traps and go into the next switch room. The home stretch with 3 ninjas and three other robots. This will unlock The Annihilator. --------------------------- _______________ /THE ANNIHILATOR\ --------------------------- You'll encounter flame traps in the first section, then a switch room and a room with a falling platform, a flame trap and some spinning laser robots. Take out the robots from a distance and then time your jumps carefully across the platforms and flame trap. Spinning blades, a spinning spiked ball robot, a ninja and laser robots inhabit the next two areas, followed by one spinning spiked ball robot before the switch room. The next part can be tricky, but it isn't too bad. There are jutting walls that you have to use to get to the other side, but the platforms before and after them fall. Take your time and time your jumping so you can make to the other side, take out the laser robot and finish the gauntlet. This doesn't unlock anything. --------------------------- ____________ /TIME TO SUCK\ --------------------------- You have to take out six rounds of enemies using only the Suck Cannon. I suggest that you use the odd numbered rounds to suck up all of the little enemies as you can, then letting the other enemies take each other out before using any of your "ammo," so you can save it for the even rounds. Or you could dispense all of your in before the beginning of the rounds to get room for more little enemies. If you run out of ammo for the Suck Cannon, you fail. If you're having trouble, try to upgrade the Suck Cannon. This will open up Chop Chop. --------------------------- _________ /CHOP CHOP\ --------------------------- You must defeat 4 rounds of enemies using only the Disc Blade Gun. Try to let the enemies defeat each other with their attacks, then take out the last one or two with your Disc Blade to conserve ammo. If you go and try to take out every single enemy with it, you'll end up running out of ammo, which will result in a lost. This will open up Sleep Inducer. --------------------------- _____________ /SLEEP INDUCER\ --------------------------- You'll need to combat 4 rounds of enemies while under the effects of sleeping gas using only the Rift Inducer. It will take multiple rifts joined together to take out some of the larger enemies. Conserve your ammo and let the enemies take out each other before launching any rifts. This will unlock The Other White Meat. --------------------------- ____________________ /THE OTHER WHITE MEAT\ --------------------------- Quack! You will have to go through 6 rounds of enemies using only the Quack-O-Ray, which is quite easily one of the best weapons in the game when upgraded. If it is, then this challenge will be a breeze. If it isn't, then use your strafe to circle the enemies until they turn into ducks. Despite what the description says, there is no timer. This doesn't unlock anything. --------------------------- ______________ /ONE HIT WONDER\ --------------------------- Ouch! You will have to go through 8 rounds of enemies without getting hit once! If you have an upgraded Quack-O-Ray, then this shouldn't be too bad. Watch out for the traps, since a good run can turn ugly very quickly if you hit one. Try to strafe around an open area with no traps and also watch out for the laser firing robots. This unlocks Dodge the Twins. --------------------------- _______________ /DODGE THE TWINS\ --------------------------- Welcome to one of the more tougher challenges in this set of courses. You must take out both Helen and Gary without getting hit once. They don't have any new moves and follow the same in and out pattern as always, so you won't be surprised. Remember to watch out for the targeted missiles when you have to finish off Helen. It may take a couple of tries, but you'll eventually get it. This doesn't unlock anything. --------------------------- _______________ /CYCLING WEAPONS\ --------------------------- Welcome to one of my more favorite courses. You will have to go through 16 rounds of enemies with your weapons cycling amongst the ones you have. Once you use up all of the ammo for a particular weapon, it will switch to a random one. Hopefully, you have leveled your weapons equally, or this could become a problem when it switches to a subpar weapon. This doesn't unlock anything. --------------------------- ______________ /COUNTING DUCKS\ --------------------------- There are 6 rounds of enemies and you must defeat them all before the sleeping gas takes in effect. You have use of all your weapons, so be sure to annihilate the enemy. This doesn't unlock anything. --------------------------- _______________ /NINJA CHALLENGE\ --------------------------- A simple 12 round challenge against various types of enemies. Nothing too hard. --------------------------- Beat all of the challenges above to open up Naptime and More Cycling Weapons. _______ /NAPTIME\ --------------------------- You will have to defeat Scorpio before the sleeping gas takes over. If you have some powerful weapons in your arsenal, then this shouldn't be too much of a problem. Nothing unlocked. --------------------------- ____________________ /MORE CYCLING WEAPONS\ --------------------------- This can be easy or hard depending on which weapons they give you. Remember to watch out for Scorp's sawblades when he's far away. When he's up close, dodging the flamethrowers may be a bit of a challenge. Like I said, if they give you good weapons, then this should be a cakewalk. If not, then it may take a couple tries to get it. Nothing unlocked. --------------------------- Beat both Naptime and More Cycling Weapons to unlock Championship Bout II. ____________________ /CHAMPIONSHIP BOUT II\ --------------------------- Once again, you'll have to brave 24 rounds of enemies, with the last battle being against Scorpio. You will encounter two rules during this battle royale: sleeping gas and cycling weapons. It shouldn't be too hard, although watch your health since the traps will be random along with the rules. A maxed out Quack-O-Ray goes a long way (or the PDA) in the pre-Scorpio battles. --------------------------- Beating every challenge from Part 1 and Part 2 will unlock the ultimate challenge, the Qwarktastic Battle. It is highly suggested that you have a maxed out Quack-O-Ray before entering this challenge. Also, the more health you have, the merrier. __________________ /QWARKTASTIC BATTLE\ --------------------------- Get ready for a LONG fight. You'll have to battle through 100 rounds of enemies, including a bout with Helen/Gary and the last one being against Scorpio! The Quack-O-Blitzer goes a LONG way in this gauntlet from hell. You will encounter timed rounds, cycling weapons and sleeping gas, all mixed in with the random traps. Remember to watch your health, since the only way to recover it is to go up a nanotech level. If you need a break, pause the game and go do something. Round 50 is the fight with Helen and Gary, so make sure to quickly take them out before they can do any hurt to you. Round 100 is the final round and you will have to fight Scorpio. There has been a known glitch of sorts going around in the pre-boss battles. If the round doesn't come to an end, then there are spinning blades stuck in the containers, so you will have to target them and kill them. Once you have defeated Scorpio, the battle is over! Congratulations. This can be an excellent spot to raise your weapon levels, as well as yourself. --------------------------- ========== METROPOLIS ========== After you go through Metropolis and beat Klunk, there will be a dropship near your ship. This will let you do some optional battle missions. _________________ /PART 1: COUNTDOWN\ ------------------------------------- You have 2 minutes to destroy timed bombs located around the city. They are designated by the green blips on your radar. I would just ignore the other enemies and go straight for them, so you won't be pressed on time. ------------------------------------- ____________________ /PART 2: URBAN COMBAT\ ------------------------------------- Avoid the missiles as you freefall. Once you land, you'll have to defeat all of the enemies as they show up. There will be big guys with green lasers, normal ones with rapidfire shots, dropships and saucers. Once you finish off the last one, you pass. ------------------------------------- ____________________ /PART 3: TOWER ATTACK\ ------------------------------------- Enemies are holed up in four towers in the area. You must go to each tower and destroy all of the enemies. Simply defeat all of the enemies on your radar. Once the last enemy is toasted, you pass. ------------------------------------- _______________________ /PART 4: AIR SUPERIORITY\ ------------------------------------- You must shoot out the dropships in the sky. Make sure you watch out for their return fire and keep on their tail until you blow them up. It might take a while since they don't sit in one spot, but persistance is the key. You pass when the final ship is destroyed. ------------------------------------- ______________________ /PART 5: TURRET COMMAND\ ------------------------------------- You must use the turret to defend a few waves of ships. There will be a wave of saucers, then one or two dropships for a complete wave. Make sure to hold down the fire button and target the saucers as they appear, so you won't be overwhelmed by the sheer number of saucers. Once you finish off all of the ships, you pass and finish this set of battle missions. You get the Map-O-Matic as an extra reward. ------------------------------------- +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ =======================| | + XII. The other way to enter the Insomniac Museum is to get all of the trophies. Once you do, head to the trophy room on the Phoenix and the door on the right side should be unlocked. Behind the door is a warp pad to the Insomniac Museum, which doesn't have any time restrictions. You can see many things that were cut from the game in the Museum, such as a Turbo-Slider racetrack and two Qwark Comics that weren't used in the game. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS + =======================| | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Q) When was Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal released? A) Up Your Arsenal was released on November , 2004. Q) What new things were added to this game? A) More weapons were added. More gadgets as well were added. There is now an online mode, which is broadband only. Q) Why don't you have a Multiplayer/Online section? A) I am not lucky enough to have broadband, so I won't be able to play the online aspect of the game. For that reason, I have decided to not include a section about it. Q) What is Challenge Mode? A) Challenge Mode is a brand new game with tougher enemies, but you get to keep your experience, weapons, armor and money from your previous game. The story is the same. Q) How do I unlock Challenge Mode? A) When you have beaten the game, the credits will roll. After that, you will be presented with two choices. You can warp back to before you defeated Nefarious OR you can restart the game in Challenge Mode. Q) How is Challenge Mode different from a normal game? A) The first thing you'll notice is that enemies hit you a lot harder. Also, weapons get another upgrade to the normal 5 versions. You have to buy the Mega upgrades from a vendor, but they can cost a lot of bolts. These Mega weapons can be upgraded to Omega status just like normal upgrading goes. You'll also notice a multiplier. The more enemies you defeat without getting hit, the higher the multiplier. This multiplier increases the amount of bolts received by the amount you reach. The max multiplier is 20. You lose it though once you get take any damage. Q) Can you help me find a Skill Point/Titanium Bolt/Trophy? A) I will be adding these as I find them. If you need any help, there are FAQs already up for these at GameFAQs detailing how to get them. You can use these excellent guides until I'm able to add them. Q) Where are some good places to level up weapons/myself? A) The last few stages are some good spots to level up since the enemies are quite tough. Some other places are at Annihilation Nation, simply because you can repeat the challenges over and over with a lot of enemies. Q) I have a Ratchet & Clank game save, but I'm not getting the 10% discount. Why? A) You need to have finished the second hoverboard race in Kalebo III before you become a Gadgetron employee. This will get you the 10% discount in UYA. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ =======================| | + XV.
