He lived a peaceful life with his elder sister Adele until his 16th birthday, when he decided to test his mettle by trying out for the Radiata Knights like his father before him. ================= RIDLEY SILVERLAKE ================= - AGE: 16 - SEX: FEMALE - HEIGHT: 161CM - VOLTY BLAST: WILD PITCH The only daughter of a family whose clan holds the crest of the Great Eagle of the North. She is very composed and serious. She tends to be stubborn, but when she recieves an order, she will follow through despite her own feelings. She actually has a very fragile side, and she takes some time to come up with a solution when faced with a dilemma. =============== GANZ ROTHSCHILD =============== - AGE: 28 - SEX: MALE - HEIGHT: 152CM - VOLTY BLAST: GANZ BREAKER Only son of Gawain Rothschild of the Rothschild clan, a family that holds the crest of the Lion of the West. He was raised well, thus his speech and manners are impeccable. Although he can be a bit goofy at times, he is a man with a good soul, always trying to do the right thing. GAMEPLAY [#000005] =============================================================================== ==== TIME ==== The entirety of Radiata Stories is time based. Everything is controlled by time. The storyline is controlled by time. Recruitable characters have their own schedules and may be in one place at one time then another place at another time. This is what differentiates Radiata Stories from other games. Time controls: - Storyline advancement - Recruitable character locations - Recruitable character events - Store schedules - Specific skill activations - Regular monster respawn times - Rare monster respawn times ============ IN THE FIELD ============ [Movement] Like every other RPG, you can use the directional pad or the left analog stick to move your character. [Talking & Examining] Press O [circle] in front of an NPC to initiate a conversation. Press O [circle] in front of an object (for example, a sign) to examine it. [Kicking] Press X to kick things. You can kick almost everything in this game. Kicking stationary objects can sometimes reveal hidden items. Kicking any unique NPC (i.e not guards) twice will initiate a duel with that NPC. Kicking treasure chests also open them. [Life Circles] Life circles are blue ring-like objects that will restore your entire party's health if touched. ==== MAPS ==== There are three seperate maps. A map of the overworld, a map of Radiata Castle, and a map of Radiata city itself. This game also features a circle notification system that you can follow if you get lost in the game and don't know what to do next. ============ JOURNEY PIGS ============ After a certain point in the game, these green statue pigs turn into warpers that can warp you from your current location to any region that you have visited that also has a Journey Pig. They save time and are quite handy. ====== SAVING ====== Saving in this game is fairly straightforward. Save points are either red or blue. Red flags also have the option to sleep. Sleeping will restore your party's HP and force the game to move to 7:00AM of the next day. Blue flags are temporary and will disappear as the storyline progresses. You cannot sleep using blue flags. ===== SHOPS ===== Fairly straightfoward. You can stock up on items in shops. There are a variety of different shops. You can sell items in every shop. Make sure you check them all! [Equipment Shops] Sells weapons and armor. [Item Shops] Sells restoratives, sometimes accessories and combat items. [Record Shops] Sells records to be used with the phonograph. [Accessory Shops] Sells accessories. =========== PHONOGRAPHS =========== After a certain point in the game, a phonograph will appear at your home base. You can play records you have found or bought using this machine. If you insert records, it also frees up inventory space. ===== STATS ===== [HP] Character health. When this falls to zero, the character can't fight anymore. [STR] Affects the amount of damage the chracter inflicts. [DEF] Affects the amount of damage the character suffers. [EVA] Indicates the character's ability to dodge blows. [LCK] Affects character's ability to avoid inflictions or cast inflictions on foes. ===== LINKS ===== After a certain point in the game, you will learn how to use links. Links are very useful. When Jack and a group of characters are linked, they gain special effects of the link type and also gain each other's skills for the duration of the link. Jack can also learn the other character's skills if they are linked enough times to Jack. ======= FRIENDS ======= After a certain point in the game, your friends list will be created. You can recruit many people to help you on your cause. Each person has a different requirement to be recruited, some may not join you until later in the game and some might want to join right away. Each person is different. ======= BATTLES ======= Battles are the bread and butter of an RPG. Radiata Stories' system is slightly different from the rest. To initiate a battle, you must touch an enemy on the field. This will force the transition and you will be dropped into a field with the enemy. You can give commands to your party once you progress enough in the game. You can take advantage of the link system to make battles easier. You can spam items to make you immortal. Unfortunately, those pesky status ailments are also in this game. =============== STATUS AILMENTS =============== [PETRIFY] You will become immobile. [CONFUSE] You will become disoriented and even attack allies. [BLAZE] Your HP decreases at intervals. [POISON] Your HP decreases at intervals. [PARALYZE] Your movements become slowed. [CURSE] Your movement speed will decrease and you will not be able to attack. [BLIND] Your sight becomes affected and your luck and evasion fall to 0. [FREEZE] You become immobile. However, you can use the left analog stick to flail about to recover sooner. [BIND] Same as Freeze. However, commands can be issued. =============================================================================== 6. THE RADIATA KNIGHTS SELECTION TRIALS [#0006A0] -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Watch the beginning scenes. After the beautiful movie of the past you will be brought into the protagonist's house, Jack. A conversation ensues between the brother and sister. Jack and Adele head outside to spar. Inside, they continue the conversation. Jack then heads to Radiata Castle to participate in the Radiata Knights Selection Trial. When Jack arrives at Radiata Castle, he is surprised to find out that his opponent is actually a girl! Jack gets overconfident and underestimates Ridley which would prove to be a big mistake. ============================= BOSS FIGHT: RIDLEY SILVERLAKE ============================= LEVEL: 4 HP: ?????/????? ELEMENT: NONE SPECIAL: NOTHING VOLTY BLAST: WILD PITCH Don't bother, this fight is unwinnable. Let her get some hits on you until she has an aura. The battle will end once Ridley uses her Volty Blast: Wild Pitch or you could just die. ======================== FAVORABLE RESULT: DEFEAT ======================== Jack gets owned royally and passes out after the match. When Jack wakes up, he heads into the coliseum to listen to the results. The results state that Ridley Silverlake is the victor. Jack is admitted into the knights on the prediction of Larks. Kick the shelf for a "Herb Extract," and kick the table for a "Cure Needle." > Leave the room and go back to the hallway where your room is. Take the east exit. Take the east exit again. Take the north door. Enter the lone door in this hallway and kick the lockers for a "Knight Edge." Backtrack to the tower with the stairs leading up. > Head up the stairs past the first door and go through the second. Jack learns that Ridley is actually the daughter of the lord of the castle. Ganz and Jack joke around which ultimately leads to Jack getting punched in the head. They then meet Clive from the Olacion Order and according to him, he can't do anything yet. Jasne, being his little overprotective self tells Natalie to accompany the Rose Chacon indirectly to make sure Ridley does not get hurt. > Once you are dropped outside, traverse the bridge and save at the blue save point if you'd like. The green pig statue is actually a Journey Pig which will be useful in the future, too bad it doesn't work yet. Dynas seems to think this is a disease, a plague of some sort. Dynas tells Patrick and Jack to not talk about it in town. > Take the west exit. Head west, up the stairs and take the west exit. Larks does not want to disband the brigade but his hand is forced because of the Royal Radiata Knights Charter, that he wrote. Ganz comes to Jack's room and informs him of the bad news. Jack gets pissed off but there is nothing that Ganz or he can do as the Rose Cochon is no more. After you get the scene, you can still fight Smilodons for more fangs but they won't be 100% drop.
