Items missing in version 1.00 -Photon art statistics (all types) -full capabilities of combat PMs -Network Mode Missions section -Tips section Please note that I won't get into a walkthrough section since others have Already submitted guides for those on GameFAQs. --------------------------------------------------------- Section 2: Introduction To Phantasy Star Universe --------------------------------------------------------- The purpose of this FAQ is to answer various questions related to PSU. After seeing an influx of multiple topics asking the same questions being posted on the GFAQs forums, I decided to compile the information I've gathered during gameplay to contribute to the PSU community. Any corrections and suggestions are welcome. See the contact information section to reach me. Please note that this FAQ assumes that you have a general understanding of the game. After all, that's what the manual's for. Apart from that, I hope this FAQ will answer the majority of the questions that people ask. I must be crazy to write something like this. I guess that's what motivation and love for the game can do. Hope you enjoy reading this as I was creating it. Be safe fellow Guardian! The Story: Phantasy Star Universe's story revolves around an organization called the Guardians, whose responsibility is to protect the people of each of the four races: humans, newmen, CASTS and beasts. However, before the organization was formed, each of the 4 races were at constant war for 500 years. However, though 100 years of peace between the races has brought prosperity, a mysterious invasion by the SEED have endangered the world and its inhabitants. Therefore, the Guardians organization was created to deal with the SEED. As the player in Network Mode, you are a member of the Guardians organization and team up with other players around the world to rid the world of the SEED infestation. Phantasy Star Universe's features include: -Real time battle system -Flexible (one of the better ones) character customization system -Online play for up to 6 players -4 playable races to choose from, each with their own strenths and weaknesses -3 planets and the space colony to explore -Content updates to expand the game -Server side character saves to help combat cheating and corruption -USB keyboard support -Utilizes broadband connections -Linked PlayStation 2 and PC servers What PSU is not/doesn't have: -A full-fledged MMORPG like World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy 11 -PVP, unless it's implemented at a future date -Creating a character offline and taking it online (unlike PSO) -Online play via dialup -Linking XBox 360 with PS2/PC, though XBox links with the Japanese servers ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Section 3: Changes From Phantasy Star Online & PSU's Story Mode ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This section is geared toward Veterans of Phantasy Star Online (PSO) who are concerned with the differences between PSU and its predecessor. What's different you ask? Here are the changes that I've found since the game's inception. -Characters are stored on the server, as opposed to the PS2's memory card or PC's hard drive. -Character creation has been expanded since PSO and character voices have been added. -Classes are no longer restricted by race and gender. -Beasts have been introduced as a new race to join the humans, newmen and CASTS. -In Network Mode, only forces and tech using expert classes have access to technics, compared to PSO. Also, in Story Mode, hunters and rangers have access to wands. -CASTs can now use technics (techniques in PSO) if they choose to become a tech using class. -Characters no longer a TP stat in PSO lingo. All skills and techs now use PP (photon points) which are now associated to weapons. -Photon Arts and technics must be linked to weapons and the said weapons equipped to cast them. -PSO's Anti (cures negative status effects) has been renamed to Reverser. -PSO's Reverser (resurrects fallen allies) has been renamed to Giresta. -Weapons and technics that multitarget are capped to 3 targets per swing/cast -Several new technics (formerly techniques in PSO) have been added to the game. -Characters are a able to switch between the game's classes via the type counters at each city's Guardians' branch, eliminating the need to create alts, with the only exception being race/gender changes -MAGs have been replaced by Partner Machinery (PM for short), which allow the player to use them as storage, synthesis and even as a combat ally once its production level has reached level 30 in Story Mode and 80 in Network Mode -Photon arts, which are new skills that related to weapons and guns have been added to make melee classes more flexible in combat, as opposed to be stuck with 3 swing combos in PSO. -Strafing is now possible. -Guns are no longer limited to 3 shot bursts like they were in PSO. In addition, they can now be fired while strafing. -Weapons can now only have 1 photon element associated with them. Back in PSO weapons could have photons (%s) in up to 3 areas. This is no longer the case here in PSU. -Lobbies have been greatly expanded to become part of the interactive game world, making PSU feel like an MMORPG, though the process of game creation is similar to PSO, where each teams gets their own version (instance as WoW players would call it) of each mission. -Each section of each mission has been renamed to Blocks. For example Forest 1, 2 and 3 in PSO are now simply Block 1, 2 and 3. -Monster levels, and their exp values in Story Mode and Network Mode are different. -Each mission rewards are based on a grading system that incorporates 3 specific factors: the # of enemies slain, # of times party members have been slain, as well as the percentage of time that each player has been in the party during the length of the mission. As content is added, timed missions will make their return, making it similar to PSO's Challenge Mode. -Multiple missions at a given destination branch out to different missions, based on the choices players make. In addition, completing missions lead the party to a new field lobby where a new selection of missions for that become selectable. -Meseta is a vital part of the game's economy and player development. It is also more difficult to obtain in Network Mode, compared to Story Mode and PSO, thus making it more valuable. -Players have a room that they can decorate, and is also where their partner machine resides. -Players can now open up their own shop to sell their spoils. -------------------------------------------------- Section 4: Getting Started in Network Mode -------------------------------------------------- This section will inform you of what you need to know to get set up to go online. Be careful as they can't use items for the duration of the nanoblast. Available once beasts have reached level 20. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- Section 5c: Race/Gender Statistics Chart ---------------------------------------------------- Due to the nature of each race's abilities, their strengths are weaknesses are shown even at the statistical level. The table below shows how each class ranks in comparison to the other 3 classes in each of the player attributes. The more *s showing in the stat, the higher it is. Credit goes to Brady's Official Strategy guide for this chart though it's been reformatted. As for the stats, here's what they mean: HP = Hit points (damage a char can take before becoming incapacitated) ATP = Attack Power (with weapons/guns) ATA = Attack Accuracy (with weapons/guns) TP = Technic Power (increases technic damage dealt) DFP = Defense Power (reduces physical damage taken) EVP = Evasive Power (ability to block attacks) MST = Mental Strength (reduces technic damage taken) STA = Stamina (resistance to negative status ailments) Race HP ATP ATA TP DFP EVP MST STA ------------------------------------------------------- Human ** ** ** *** ** *** *** ** Newman * * *** **** ** **** **** *** CAST *** *** **** * **** * * *** Beast **** **** * ** *** ** ** ** ------------------------------------------------------- In addition to the above, males have higher HP, ATP and ATA, while females have higher EVP, TP, MST and STA. --------------------------------------------------------------- Section 5d: Default Class and Trainer Selections --------------------------------------------------------------- Due to the nature of each race's starting stats, each of the 4 races is set to the class that best reflects their stats when a character is made. The small table below lists them. In addition, each race's trainer, who is the 1st NPC ally available to players are listed. Race Default Class Trainer ------------------------------------------------ Human Hunter Hyuga Ryght Newman Force Maya Shidow Cast Ranger Lou Beast Hunter Leongini Santosa Berafort ------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------ Section 5e: Character & Class Development ------------------------------------------------------ This section explain each of the character's statistics, and how they affect gameplay. As stated in the previous section here's a description of what each of the stats mean. HP = Hit points (damage a char can take before becoming incapacitated) ATP = Attack Power (with weapons/guns) ATA = Attack Accuracy (with weapons/guns) TP = Technic Power (increases technic damage) DFP = Defense Power (reduces physical damage taken) EVP = Evasive Power (ability to block attacks) MST = Mental Strength (reduces technic damage taken) STA = Stamina (resistance to negative status ailments) Whenever a character deals damage to a monster and deals the killing blow, the character is awarded the slain monster's full experience value. If he or she damages a monster and another player or NPC ally deals the killing blow, the character will receive roughly 75-80% of the slain monster's experience value. This information is important to know because during large multiplayer games, enemies are most likely to be killed at a very fast rate. To make sure you get your share of each monster's exp, do what you can to damage every monster without endangering yourself or your teammates. If you can do this consistently, you'll level up much faster than trying to solo missions. Once a character has acquired enough experience points, he or she will level up, causing each of the character's 8 statistics to increase, with each increase based on the character's current class and race. At the time of this document's writing, the level cap is level 60, though it's scheduled to be increased as Network Mode receives content updates. -------------------------------------- Section 5f: Experience Chart -------------------------------------- Credit for the following experience chart is courtesy of psu.fei-yen, along with Google's website translation services. http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fpsu.fei-yen.jp%2Fwiki%2Fhtm l%2F&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8 Lv Exp Finite Total Exp | Lv Exp Finite Total Exp needed Differ- | needed Differ- ence | ence -------------------------------+-------------------------------- 1 39 0 0 | 26 ? ? ? 2 141 102 39 | 27 13120 ? 141603 3 246 105 180 | 28 13264 144 154723 4 715 469 426 | 29 14695 1431 167987 5 1197 482 1141 | 30 16154 1459 182682 6 1340 143 2338 | 31 16162 8 198836 7 1488 148 3678 | 32 16171 9 214998 8 1638 150 5166 | 33 16179 8 231169 9 2533 895 6804 | 34 17756 1577 247348 10 3449 916 9337 | 35 19332 1576 265104 11 3618 169 12786 | 36 19342 10 284436 12 3788 170 16404 | 37 19352 10 303778 13 3962 174 20192 | 38 19363 11 323130 14 5110 1148 24154 | 39 22563 3200 342493 15 6283 1173 29264 | 40 24971 2408 365056 16 6550 267 35547 | 41 27379 2408 390027 17 6821 271 42097 | 42 29787 2408 417406 18 7096 275 48918 | 44 39109 6914 479388 20 9796 1364 64446 | 45 41831 2722 518497 21 9912 116 74242 | 46 44553 2722 560328 22 10023 111 84152 | 47 47274 2721 604881 23 10139 116 94175 | 48 49996 2722 652155 24 10431 ? ? | 49 59225 9229 702151 25 ? ? ? | 50 59241 16 761376 -------------------------------+-------------------------------- Until the US servers of PSU are updated, the current level cap is 60. An updated table will be placed once the information's available. -------------------------------------------------- Section 6: Adventuring in Network Mode -------------------------------------------------- This section will describe everything there is to know about adventuring in Network Mode. You'll be introduced to the concepts of universes and lobbies, which are now part of the interactive game world, unlike PSO. Upon reading this section, you should a good grasp of how to manoeuvre around the varies lobbies and shops on each planet, as well as the Guardians Colony to proceed in PSU. --------------------------------------------------------- Section 6a: Introduction To Universes & Lobbies --------------------------------------------------------- For those of you who are familiar with PSO, you can think of universes as the equivalent of ships on Dreamcast and GameCube PSO, with lobbies remaining the same. For those of you who are unfamiliar with PSO, picture a universe as a 1 of Sega's 18 game servers. The reason there are 18 universes is because each game server can only accommodate an unspecified # of players online on it at the same time. Just like MMORPGS like World of Warcraft need to have new realms created to accommodate their player base, the same principle applies to players of PSU, though on a smaller scale. So in summary: Universe: One of sega's game servers which allow players to play online, which has a limit on how many players can be on it at once before it reaches maximum capacity. Once a Universe becomes full, no more players will be able to join the universe in question. Use the red cubes that are scattered all over each lobby to move between universes. Lobby: In PSU, the lobbies in this game are essentially the cities, or towns where the players reside while they're not on the battlefield doing missions. Is it in the lobbies that you can see every player that's in the vicinity, whether or not they're in your party. In addition, all of the game's shops and means of planetary travel are accessed through the lobbies. ---------------------------------- Section 6b: Shop Types ---------------------------------- In PSU, each of the 4 cities has a variety of shops for players to spend their hard earned meseta. Everything from guns to room decorations are available to the player for the right price. With the except of the Weapon Upgrade Shop and Club, you'll need meseta to purchase the goods offered by these merchants. The following will give you a brief description of what kind of shops are available and what they offer players in Network Mode. Weapon Shops ------------ Being self explanatory, these shops sell a wide array of weapons for you to use in your adventures to rid the world of the SEED infestation. Fortunately, all the items of the same type are sorted together in order of rarity to make it easier for players to compare statistical differences and gauge whether or not the extra expense is worth the difference in increased statistics such as attack power or defense power. Armor Shops ----------- Like weapons, these shops sell a wide array of armor that can purchase to protect you against attacks from any hostile creatures. Fortunately, like weapons, armor is also sorted together in order of rarity to make it easier for players to compare statistical differences and gauge whether or not the extra expense is worth the difference in defense power or elemental resistance. Item Shops ---------- The main purpose of item shops in PSU is for players to restock on restoratives such as monomates, antimates, as well as the all important scape dolls that instantly revive any player who falls in battle, without incurring the penalties associated with incapacitations. Rangers and Protransers will also seek item shops to restock their supply of traps. Finally for extra long missions or those hate returning to town to recharge their weapons' PP, will be delighted to know that these shops sell photon charges to fully recharge 1 weapon's PP, which can be significant during longer fights such as bosses. Disk Shops ---------- These shops sell the disks that characters need to use in order to learn, and therefore use their photon arts and technics. As Network Mode is updated via patches, the selection of accessible photon arts available for purchase will increase, thus granting players access to new abilities. Synthesis Shops --------------- Synthesis shops serve 2 purposes. The first, and most important purpose is that these shops sell the synthesis boards that players insert into their partner machines to enable them to synthesize (manufacture) many types of items, ranging from weapons, armor, restorative items and even room decorations! In fact, many of the more powerful weapons, along with the ability to imbue normal weapons with elemental properties can greatly increase your damage. Higher end armor provides more protection and can also sometimes be imbued with elemental properties as well to increase your resistance to specific elements, though you'll take more damage from your armor's opposite element. As for these shops' second purpose, you're also able to purchase the materials that are required for many of the items that can be synthesized. Clothes/Parts Shop ------------------ The sole purpose for Clothes and Parts shops if for players to purchase new clothing/parts to change their character's appearances; or if they've got money to burn, to feed to their partner machineries to raise their armor stats. Weapon Upgrade Shop ------------------- Though weapons upgrade shops don't charge players for their services, players can still expect to spend a hefty amount of meseta on synthesizing the grinders that these merchants need to ply their trade. Provided you have the materials, these shops are the only means of increasing a weapon's effectiveness by increasing it's maximum PP as well as its attack/technic power. Be warned however as upgrades have a chance to fail and if it fails, the weapon attempted to upgraded will be DESTROYED and lost. However, using higher quality grinders and upgrading on your lucky day (explained later) will help reduce the chances for failure. That aside, should extreme luck be with you, weapon can be upgraded (grinded) a maximum of 10 times. Makeover Shop ------------- The makeover shop's purpose is to allow players to change their characters' physical appearances, by paying the shop to allow changes to players, hair, skin color, CAST parts, and many other features, though proportion is fixed. However, beasts have more significant interest in the makeover shop because this is where they pay 10k meseta to have their arms tattooed, thus unlocking their nanoblast racial ability. Room Decorations ---------------- There isn't much to say about these shops. Their sole purpose is to sell a variety of decorations and remodelling tickets that allow players to customize their room. Perhaps the purchase of them all is Open Shop remodelling ticket, as it allows players to sell their drops and synthesized weapons, armor and items for profit. The Club -------- Though none have taken place since the US launch of PSU at the time of this document's writing, the club's purpose is to host special events that take place in Network Mode from time to time. Based on the PSU original soundtrack, I'm guessing that there'll be club events for Christmas and Halloween. But honestly, the events that are planned are strictly decided on by Sega. ---------------------------------------- Section 6c: Type (class) Counters ---------------------------------------- Though the type counter only serves one purpose, it's one of the most important purposes in the game. These counters are the only place where players can change their class. Changing classes allow players to cross train for the expert classes that are planned to be released in the future. Even then, keep in mind that changing classes will unequip all your weapons, armor and units because each class has restrictions as to what kind of gear they can equip. Don't forget to reequip yourself after a class change. On a final note, the meseta cost required to change classes is based on your character's level, with higher level characters having to pay a higher fee. At the time of this writing, A level 50 character will pay a fee of 2650 meseta, which is practically spare change anyway by the time he or she reaches that level. -------------------------------------- Section 6d: Mission Counters -------------------------------------- Mission counters are found through each city and field lobby. This is where players go to select missions to play in order to develop their characters. Keep in mind that each city and field lobby offers different missions, and that many missions can only be accessed once a party has reach the appropriate location where the missions in question take place. --------------------------------- Section 6e: Field Lobbies --------------------------------- Field lobbies are where players are taken after the completion of each mission. They allow players to form parties, recharge weapons and restock on supplies to take back to the battlefield, should they have a mission in progress. Field lobbies also have missions counters that offer missions to players regarding SEED hostilities in the immediate area. In addition, if at least 1 party member has access to a field lobby, other players in the party can return to each planet's city and talk to the Field lobby NPCs located close to mission counters to teleport them back to the field lobbies in question, without having to repeat the missions needed to reach the lobbies in question originally. ----------------------------------------------------- Section 6f: Chat & Keyboard Features/Shortcuts ----------------------------------------------------- Using a keyboard, PSU's expanded chat system allows players to a lot of fun and create stuff while chatting with each other in game. Some examples include creating thought bubbles, jagged balloons for yelling, and even cut ins with players' portraits to spice up conversations. Credit goes to tgfcer and PSU Wiki for the information provided below. For those people who are playing online and wondering how to string chat commands, CUT-INs, and animations together. Higher values indicate more power Race = The character's gender Gender = The character's gender Class = Your current class, which dictates your gear and photon art restrictions HP = Hit points (damage a char can take before becoming incapacitated) ATP = Attack Power (with weapons/guns) ATA = Attack Accuracy (with weapons/guns) TP = Technic Power (increases technic damage) DFP = Defense Power (reduces physical damage taken) EVP = Evasive Power (ability to block attacks) MST = Mental Strength (reduces technic damage taken) STA = Stamina (resistance to negative status ailments) Exp = Total exp earned Next Level = exp needed to reach the next level Meseta = The amount meseta (money) your character is currently carrying -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Equipped Items -------------- This command displays a window that shows all of your currently equipped weapons, armor, units and clothes, along with their statistics. Photon Arts List ---------------- This command displays a window that shows how proficient you are with every photon art that you currently know, along with each photon art's PP cost, power/accuracy boosts, and special effects. Please note that no character can know more than 36 photon arts at one time. Types List ---------- This command displays a window that shows how proficient you are with every class that is currently available in Network. As players level up existing classes, combined with content updates, more classes will become available for selection. Also, this window will what kind of weapons each class can equip, as well as how much experience each class has accumulated. -------------------------- Section 7b: Items -------------------------- This command allows you to add weapons and items to the action palette, equip and remove armor and units, as well as use items that you are currently carrying. Lastly, unwanted items can be dropped on the ground, provided you are not in a lobby or in your room. Also, the maximum number of items a player can carry at one time is 60. --------------------- Section 7c: Map --------------------- Only useable during missions, pulling up the map will show you and your party members' positions, along with any enemies, doors and keys. You also have the option of moving and zooming the map itself. The legend below will identify what each of the symbols found on the map mean. Colored arrows = You and your party members' locations and direction you and they are facing Yellow Circle = Enemy Big Yellow Dot = Boss Green Rectangles = Unlocked doors/gates Red Rectangles = Locked doors/gates Red Circle = Gate Key needed to unlock doors/gates --------------------------------- Section 7d: Community --------------------------------- This section will focus mainly on the commands that you'll be using most often when playing with other players. The commands contained herein allow you to form/leave parties, change leadership, send mail/partner cards, and set loot rules. Party ----- This command is the one that you'll be using the most by far as you play PSU as it's for gathering friends or strangers so that you can tackle each of the missions more easily as a group. Forming A Party --------------- You can only invite players and up to 2 NPCs to join your party if: 1) You're not in a party or are the party leader. 2) You're not in your room. 3) The person you're inviting isn't in a different universe or in his/her room. 4) Your party isn't in the middle of a mission, even if you return to the city or field lobby. 5) The party already has 6 members. Assuming that the above 5 conditions are met, you can invite players to join your party in 2 ways: 1) Approach a player in a lobby or field lobby until yellow crosshairs highlight him/her. Press X on PS2 and choose Invite to Party. 2) Choose the Form Party command from the Community -> Party menu and highlight your friend's partner card, then press X on PS2. This method must be used to invite NPCs. Party Leader Rights ------------------- All the commands listed in this submenu are self explanatory, though I'd like to make special attention to the Abandon Mission, Set Party Password, and Remove Member commands. Abandon Mission: Use this command to completely abort the party's current mission, forfeiting any mission rewards and progress made. This is good to use if someone dies without a scape doll early in the mission so you can quickly restart it for S rank. Another nice trick with which to use this command is right after you complete a mission and receive the mission rewards (meseta and mission points). Doing this allows the party to return to the field lobby the party came from, so the party can repeat the same missions available in that area without having to do all the prior missions again to get back to that field lobby. Set Party Password: This is very useful for locking games to prevent harassment, or for saving spots. For your convenience, this password can be changed and even removed at any time, even when a mission is in progress to allow strangers to join. Remove Member: As the party leader, you can use the command to remove players from the party, essentially forcing them to abort the mission the party was doing. This should only be used if players are demonstrating improper gaming conduct as abuse could lead to a lot of hate towards you. Party Member Rights ------------------- All the commands listed in this submenu are self explanatory, though I'd like to make special attention to the Leave Party and Card commands. Leave Party: The main reasons you would use this command is to leave a party with undesirable players or to join another party. As a show of respect, unless you're being mistreated, inform the rest of the party before you leave so that they're prepared and are less likely to think ill of you. Send Card: Really enjoyed playing with someone? Send him/her your partner card conveniently, regardless of his/her location, provided they're still in the party. Lucky Days ---------- You may notice that some players may have sparkling stars next to their names, provided you have the character name display option enabled. Every day at midnight, players of a certain race and gender will be granted 0 to 3 levels of luck. Being lucky has the following 2 benefits: 1) If the player is the party leader, rare items are more likely to drop from chests and enemies. If someone in your party is lucky, it'd be a wise decision to make him/her the party leader so that everyone in the party can benefit from the increase item drop rates. 2) The player has a increased chance of success when grinding weapons at the weapon upgrade shops. This is great because breaking weapons due to failed upgrades can really be disheartening, not to mention expensive, once more powerful and rarer weapons are being grinded. This small chart will describe how lucky a character is: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No stars: Normal rare item drop rates and grinding success percentages 3-4 white stars: Slight increase in drop rares and grinding success %ages 5-7 white stars: Moderate increase in drop rares and grinding success %ages Bright orange star: Highest increase in drop rares and grinding success %ages -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Simple Mail ----------- The simple mail commands are straightforward. Use them to communicate with players via the in game mailing system, as well as to reply to their messages to you as well. One nice feature that wasn't available in PSO is the ability to send an outgoing mail to multiple recipients. Partner Card ------------ Partner cards enable you to send simple mails and invite players into your party with ease. In addition, you'll also be able to tell if they're online. Send Card: Really enjoyed playing with someone? Send him/her your partner card conveniently, regardless of his/her location, provided they're still in the party. Sort Priority: use this command to sort your partner cards to place friends you play with frequently closer to the top, to make it easier to form parties with them, as well as to check to see if they're online. Delete card: Need to clean up your partner card list which is getting cluttered? This is the command to use. Please keep in mind that once you delete the card, you can no longer send simple mails to that player or invite him/her to your party remotely. Use with care. Shortcuts --------- This nifty feature can be used to program your favorite chat phrases to say with the touch of a button. Not much explanation is needed here, but I mentioned it as it's quite a nice feature if you have a keyboard. F1 through F12 can be assigned shortcuts. --------------------------- Section 7e: System --------------------------- This section describes the small amount of useful options that you can use to tailor the game to your liking. Options ------- Fortunately, all the items here are self explanatory. You change many options like text display speed, lock on settings and even music/sound effects volume. Set the options to your personal taste. Blacklist --------- Blacklisting players essentially means that you're blocking all transmissions, chat and party invite from the players on this list. This is mainly used to combat harassment by other players. You can add players to this list by their partner cards or simple mails. On the bright side, once you no longer have hostility towards someone, you can remove him or her from your blacklist to allow him/her to interact with you once more once you've made amends. Log Out ------- Once you're ready to stop your playing session, simply use this command to log off the network. You progress is saved by the server at all times. ---------------------------- Section 8: Classes ---------------------------- This section will describe each of the classes' abilities, as well as their weapon and technic restrictions. Obviously, each class will have different styles of combat in mind. Choose the class that best suits your style of play. ---------------------------------------- Section 8a: Basic Classes ---------------------------------------- Every new character that's created will be assigned one of 3 basic classes, solely based on their race. This section will provide a description of each class' strenths and weaknesses, as well as what their weapon and photon art restrictions are. Hunter ------ Suited to melee combat, they have the highest HP, and have the widest selection of melee weapons of the basic classes. The table below will list the hunter's maximum rank of each weapon that the class can equip. Humans and beasts are hunters by default when created. Weapon Maximum Rank -------------------------------- Swords B Knuckles B Spears B Double Sabers N/A Axes N/A Twin Sabers B Twin Daggers B Twin Claws N/A Sabers B Daggers B Claws N/A Rifles N/A Shotguns N/A Bows N/A Grenade Launchers N/A Laser Cannons N/A Twin Handguns N/A Handguns C Crossbows N/A Cards N/A Machine guns N/A Rods N/A Wands N/A -------------------------------- For photon arts, the hunter's restrictions are as follows: -Skills up to level 20 -Bullets up to level 10 -No technics Additional abilities: -25% bonus to PP regeneration rates when using melee weapons -Beast hunters gain a 4% bonus to HP, other bonuses unknown at this time Ranger ------ Suited to ranged combat, they have the highest ATA, as well as the widest selection of guns of the basic classes. The table below will list the ranger's maximum rank of each weapon that the class can equip. CASTS are rangers by default when created. The table below will list the force's maximum rank of each weapon that the class can equip. Newmen are forces by default when created. Weapon Maximum Rank -------------------------------- Swords N/A Knuckles N/A Spears C Double Sabers N/A Axes N/A Twin Sabers N/A Twin Daggers C Twin Claws N/A Sabers C Daggers C Claws N/A Rifles N/A Shotguns N/A Bows B Grenade Launchers N/A Laser Cannons N/A Twin Handguns N/A Handguns C Crossbows N/A Cards N/A Machine Guns N/A Rods B Wands B -------------------------------- For photon arts, the force's restrictions are as follows: -Skills up to level 1 -Bullets up to level 10 -Technics up to level 20 Additional abilities: -25% bonus to PP regeneration rates when using rods and wands -Newman forces gain a 2.75% bonus to HP, other bonuses unknown at this time ------------------------------------------ Section 8b: Expert Classes ------------------------------------------ As a character gains experience and levels up their basics classes by earning mission points as rewards from doing missions, he/she will gain the ability to change to more power expert classes, which either enhance the power of a basic class or combined the strength of multiple classes. Though these classes haven't been released on the US PSU server at the time of this writing, these classes have already been confirmed and are already implemented in JP PSU. ForteFighter ------------ Taking the aspect of the hunter class to a new level, this class boasts the ability to equip many S rank melee weapons, which allow this class to deal some serious damage, especially since skills can reach level 30. The table below will list the Fortefighter's maximum rank of each weapon that the class can equip. Hunter level 10 is required to become a Fortefighter. Weapon Maximum Rank -------------------------------- Swords S Knuckles S Spears s Double Sabers N/A Axes S Twin Sabers A Twin Daggers A Twin Claws S Sabers A Daggers A Claws S Rifles N/A Shotguns N/A Bows N/A Grenade Launchers N/A Laser Cannons N/A Twin Handguns N/A Handguns A Crossbows N/A Cards N/A Machine Guns N/A Rods N/A Wands N/A -------------------------------- For photon arts, the Fortefighter's restrictions are as follows: -Skills up to level 30 -Bullets up to level 10 -No technics Additional abilities: -25% bonus to their PP regeneration rates when using melee weapons -20% PP discount when using Skills -Beast Fortefighters gain 4% bonuses to HP, ATP and DFP -Beast Fortefighters gain a 3% bonus to ATA -Beast Fortefighters gain 1.5% bonuses to EVP and MST -Beast Fortefighters gain a 1% bonus to TP ForteGunner ----------- Taking the aspect of the ranger class to a new level, this class boasts the ability to equip many S rank ranged weapons, which allow this class to deal some good damage to single and multiple targets, especially since bullets can reach level 30. Also, as bullets cap at 30, this leads to an increased chance for each of the Fortegunner's shots to inflict negative status ailments upon the enemies. The table below will list the Fortefighter's maximum rank of each weapon that the class can equip. Ranger level 10 is required to become a Fortegunner. Weapon Maximum Rank -------------------------------- Swords N/A Knuckles N/A Spears A Double Sabers N/A Axes N/A Twin Sabers N/A Twin Daggers N/A Twin Claws N/A Sabers A Daggers A Claws N/A Rifles S Shotguns S Bows N/A Grenade Launchers S Laser Cannons S Twin Handguns A Handguns S Crossbows A Cards N/A Machine Guns A Rods N/A Wands N/A -------------------------------- For photon arts, the Fortegunner's restrictions are as follows: -Skills up to level 10 -Bullets up to level 30 -No technics Additional abilities: -25% bonus to their PP regeneration rates when using ranged weapons -20% PP discount when using Bullets -CAST Fortegunners gain a 6% bonus to ATA -CAST Fortegunners gain a 5% bonus to EVP -CAST Fortegunners gain a 3.5% bonus to HP -CAST Fortegunners gain 3% bonuses to ATP and DFP -CAST Fortegunners gain 1% bonuses to TP and MST Fortetecher --------- Taking the aspect of the force class to a new level, this class boasts the ability to equip S rank rods and canes, which allow this class to deal some serious damage to single and multiple targets, especially since technics can reach level 30. Also, as technics cap at 30, this leads to an increased chance for each of the Fortetecher's spells to inflict status ailments upon the enemies. However, the class' major flaw is its extremely low DFP, which can be alleviated with Deband, Dizas and Jellen once they're released. That said, the table below will list the Fortetecher's maximum rank of each weapon that the class can equip. Force level 10 is required to become a Fortetecher. Weapon Maximum Rank -------------------------------- Swords N/A Knuckles N/A Spears A Double Sabers N/A Axes N/A Twin Sabers N/A Twin Daggers A Twin Claws N/A Sabers A Daggers A Claws N/A Rifles N/A Shotguns N/A Bows S Grenade Launchers N/A Laser Cannons N/A Twin Handguns N/A Handguns A Crossbows N/A Cards S Machine Guns N/A Rods S Wands S -------------------------------- For photon arts, the Fortecher's restrictions are as follows: -Skills up to level 1 -Bullets up to level 30 -Technics up to level 30 Additional abilities: -25% bonus to their PP regeneration rates when using rods and canes -20% PP discount when using Technics -Newman Fortechers gain a 7% bonus to MST -Newman Fortechers gain a 6% bonus to EVP -Newman Fortechers gain a 5% bonus to TP -Newman Fortechers gain a 2.3% bonus to HP -Newman Fortechers gain 2% bonuses to ATP, ATA and DFP Fighgunner -------- Combining the abilities of the hunter and ranger, this class can deal damage to single or multiple targets at melee range, or from a distance with guns. Wide weapon selection with emphasis on saber type weapons. The table below will list the Fighgunner's maximum rank of each weapon that the class can equip. Hunter level 5 and Ranger level 3 are required to become a Figunner. However, this class' damage potential is more effective against single targets due to the class' weapons selection. Also an excellent class to solo with as you'll be able to cast Resta and other buffs spells as they're released. The table below will list the Wartecher's maximum rank of each weapon that the class can equip. Hunter level 3 and Force level 5 are required to become a Wartecher. Also an excellent class to solo with as you'll be able to cast Resta and other buffs spells as they're released. The table below will list the Guntecher's maximum rank of each weapon that the class can equip. Ranger level 5 and Force level 3 are required to become a Guntecher. However, the class' main weakness is its inability to equip any S rank weapons at all. The table below will list the Protranser's maximum rank of each weapon that the class can equip. Hunter/Ranger/Force level 5 are required to become a Protranser. For organizational purposes, I've divided each of the types of photon arts into their own section. -------------------------------------------------- Section 9a: Introduction To Photon Arts -------------------------------------------------- Photon arts a new a addition to PSU, which you can consider as special moves and magic spells. Each type of weapon has its own photon art, which has its own unique attributes, animations and abilities. Melee weapon photon arts are called Skills. Ranged weapon photon arts are called Bullets. Lastly, magical photon arts (aka spells) are called Technics. Please note that Sega may choose to add new photon arts at its discretion. Another noteworthy point that I should make is that each time you use a Skill, Bullet, Or Technic, provided its level isn't capped by your character's current class, it'll gain experience and level up, providing an increase to its damage and accuracy levels. Every 10 levels, being 11 and 21, each type of photon art will receive a significant bonus, which I'll explain in each of the 3 separate subsections below. One final important note: A player can only know a total of 36 photon arts of all types combined at one time. It performs a variety of important functions so reading the information here will help you make the most use of your little robotic companion. Feed it well and it'll return the favor many times over. ------------------------------ Section 10b: Storage ------------------------------ The most basic function of partner machinery is that it allows you to store up a maximum 300 different item slots. Specifically speaking, A Saber and a handgun would take up 1 slot each, was will a full stack of stackable items. In addition, items and materials must be in storage before you can use them for synthesis, or putting them in a shop for to be sold for profit. ------------------------------ Section 10c: Feeding ------------------------------ Feeding your partner machine is the most important (and expensive) activity that you must do. Feeding your partner machinery items will cause the its statistics to increase, based on the rarity and nature of the item it has consumed. Each item raises and lowers stat a certain number of points, represented by the long bar to the right of each stat. When a statistic gains 100 points, causing the bar to fill up completely, it will increase by 1 and the points bar will empty again. Also, unlike Story Mode, partner machines in Network Mode can eat 100 items before they become full. Once they become full, you must wait 12 hours before your partner machine will become hungry to eat again. The following table below shows each of the PM's stats and their benefits to the player: Please note that the Production Level is simply the sum of all Striking, Ranged, Tech and Armor levels. Partner Machinery Statistics Chart -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stat | Effect -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Striking | Increases the probability of success when synthesizing melee weapons. | +1% chance to synthesize per 2 points of Striking ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ranged | Increases the probability of success when synthesizing ranged | weapons. +1% chance to synthesize per 2 points of Ranged ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- Tech | Increases the probability of success when synthesizing casting | weapons. +1% chance to synthesize per 2 points of Tech ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- Armor | Increases the probability of success when synthesizing armor. | +1% chance to synthesize per 5 points of Armor ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- B St | Increases overall synthesis percentages and increases the PM's stats | when used in battle, thus making it more viable when used on | missions. Currently doesn't seem to be implemented. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal note: I'm a bit skeptical about the overall synthesis boost provided by the PM's battle experience, though I'm keeping a close eye on the percentages as I level my PM's Battle Strength stat. Now that we know what the stats do for us, the follow table will show which type of items will reach each stat. In addition, the item's rarity, denoted by the number of stars it has also affects the amount of increase in the stats involved. Partner Machinery General Stat Raising Feeding Chart -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stat | Item Fed -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Striking | Melee weapons, recovery items, skill disks ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ranged | Guns, Traps, bullet disks ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- Tech | Rods, Wands, technic disks ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- Armor | Clothes, part, armor, units, room decorations ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- B St | Taking your partner machine into battle with you -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please keep in mind that many items also lower a stat when fed to a PM. Though the decrease isn't much it does add up over the course of a feeding session. Again, the item's rarity also determines the actual decrease. That said, please note that PMs won't lose a level when you feed them an item that lowers a stat when that stat's bar is already completely empty. There's no penalty at this point. Partner Machinery General Stat Decreasing Feeding Chart -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stat | Item Fed -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Striking | Force weapons, line shields, technic disks, materials ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ranged | Units, skill disks ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- Tech | Melee weapons, units, traps, bullet disks, parts ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- Armor | Ranged weapons ---------+---------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, putting all the information we have now, the following tables will list exactly how many points each stat gains and loses, based on different item types, at various rarity levels. This is accomplished by the following steps: 1) Find or purchase the synthesis board for the item that you wish to create. Many boards for different kinds or items sold at shops. However, boards for rarer and more powerful weapons and items can only be found from chest and monster drops. 2) Once you have the board, you'll need to gather the materials that the item you want to create uses as materials. Like boards, materials can be purchased or found as chest and monster drops. For the most part, the item's required materials are written as part of the board's description information. 3) Now that you have the board and items, return to your room and place all of desired item's materials into your PM's storage. 4) Insert the board for the desired item by using the P Machinery Functions, Synthesis A Item, and finally Insert Board commands. Please be careful when inserting boards as your PM can only have 32 boards installed at once. 5) Once the board is inserted, choose the Synthesize command. This should open up a window, with the list of items that your PM synthesize. If you did everything correctly, you should be able to highlight the item that you wish to create from the menu. As you scroll through your list of creatable items, the window at the bottom of your screen will list the required materials and success rate for the highlighted item, as well as the board's capacity, which is the amount of that item that can be created before the board is no longer usable. 6) Confirm that you wish to synthesize the current item by press X on PS2 or Enter on PC. 7) For items that allow you to insert your materials (denoted by ???) in the materials list, highlight the ??? slot and press X or Enter and a new window will open, listing the different photons you have in your storage. The photon you select will determine a weapon or line shield's elemental property, which allows you to create weapons that'll do more damage against monsters of the opposing element, while reducing the same element's damage done to you when applied to a line shield (though you'll also take more damage from attacks of the opposite element). 8) Once you confirmed the materials and/or photons to be used, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to begin the synthesis process. If you accept, your PM will do 1 of 2 things. a) Synthesize the item and give it to you right away, which is usually the case for grinders, juices and recovery items. b) Tell you that you'll have to use the Take Out Item at a later time. This usually happens whenever you try to synthesize weapons and line shields. You can use the Take Out Item command at this point and when you highlight the item being create, a small window to the right will tell you how much longer you need to wait for the synthesis procedure to complete, which can take from 15 minutes to 4 hours from what I've seen so far. Keep in mind that the clock keeps ticking even when you're offline. Do whatever you want to burn the time. 9) If you tried to create a weapon or line shield and you know that it's time to get your item, use the Take Out Item command, highlight your item confirm that you want to take it out. If you're scared of failure, you can use the Cancel Synthesis command to back out and retain the materials. If you're lucky and/or have a PM skilled at making the item you want, the synthesis should be successful and you can choose to have your new item placed into your inventory or storage. If the item fails (which happens unfortunately), you'll more often than not receive an item of significantly lesser value, such as monomates, dimates and other consumable items. There's one last point that I should make. A board can only synthesize 1 item at a time, unless the items being created are stackable, such as recovery items However, you're allowed to synthesize multiple items at once, provided that you have enough boards inserted to do so. ---------------------------------- Section 10e: Evolution ---------------------------------- Another special ability that a player's partner machinery (pm) is able to do is to evolve itself with items that are fed. As the partner machine's production Level hits certain level milestones, its appearance will change as it'll evolve into a new form. The form that the PM takes is dependent on the Striking, Ranged, Tech and Armor's current value when the milestone is reached. So what's the point? Glad you asked! You see, there are 2 rewards to evolving your PM. The first rewards is that its ability to synthesis specific items will increase, thus decreasing the chance of failure. However, the second reward is that once it reaches its final evolution, it'll evolve into a humanoid form and offer you its Partner Card so you bring her into combat with you! You won't be disappointed with the results either at the PM is always 10 levels higher than you, and as it gains experience in battle (represented by the B St stat on page 2 of the PM's status screen), it's statistics will improve, making it an even more powerful companion to have when your party's short on players. Please note that the last point made is still under confirmation, as it seems that the B St stat isn't activated at this time. The leveling milestones where each stage of evolution are as follows: 1st evolution: Production Level 20 2nd evolution: Production Level 50 Final evolution: Production Level 80 Now for the meat of this section, the Evolution chart! The data gathered here is from Brady's official guide, except that I decided to use ASCII format to make the chart conform to GameFAQs standards. All partner machinery begin as the GH101 model. As stated before, what you feed your PM will determine its final form, each of which has its own weapons that it uses in combat. For exact details of what to feed your PM to get the desired evolution you want, please consult the Feeding section of this FAQ. Using the numbered points on the diagram with the numbered notes below, you can trace each evolutionary path. Other notes ----------- PM Device Zero will reset your Partner Machinery to level 0. All other PM Devices will change your Partner Machinery's to any of the 4 variants once it has reached 4xx models (3rd evolution), provided it's compatible. ----------------------------- Section 11: Weapons ----------------------------- Weapons are what Guardians use to fend off the SEED infestation. Whether they're swords, guns or rods, weapons playa vital role in the game. This section will give you information that you must know to understand how weapons work in PSU, since they've also changed quite significantly from PSO. -------------------------------------------- Section 11a: Weapon Statistics -------------------------------------------- Regarding weapons, each of them have a variety of stats that mean different things. In order to get the most effective usage from your weapons, you must understand how each of the stats mean, as well as their effects. The table below will summarize the information shown when weapons are highlighted. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stat | Description --------+----------------------------------------------------------------------- ATP | Increases damage dealt by physical attacks and physical Photon Arts --------+----------------------------------------------------------------------- TP | Increases the damage dealt by your technics --------+----------------------------------------------------------------------- ATA | Increases your chance to hit a target successfully with weapons --------+----------------------------------------------------------------------- Element | The percentage of extra damage dealt against enemies of the opposite | element -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- Section 11b: Grinding Weapons ---------------------------------------- Weapons upgrade shops are the only means of increasing a weapon's effectiveness once elements half already been applied. Grinding a weapon increases its maximum PP as well as its attack/technic power. Be warned however as upgrades have a chance to fail and if it fails, the weapon attempted to be upgraded will be DESTROYED and lost. However, using higher quality grinders and upgrading on your lucky day will help reduce the chances for failure. That aside, should extreme luck be with you, any weapon can be upgraded grinded a maximum of 10 times, signifying the weapon's true potential. However, to get started with the upgrade process, you'll need to get some grinder bases first, which serve as the raw materials that need to be converted into grinders though synthesis. To get grinder bases: Purchase or gather grinder bases of the same or higher type of quality as the weapons you wish to grind. For example, Grinder Base C and Grinder Base B are 2 kinds of grinder bases. Once you have enough grinder bases, you must then purchase the matching grinder synthesis boards from a synthesis shop and head back to your room. Synthesizing the grinders: Once you're in your room, place all the grinder bases you need into storage and insert the synthesis board(s) and begin to synthesize the your desired number of grinders. Don't worry about failing grinder syntheses. The success rate is always 100% and are synthesized instantly. As you you'll Notice, you'll synthesize grinders of varying quality, as denoted by the + figures (Grinder C+1 and Grinder S+10 for example). Grinders with higher + figures have an increased chance of success when used to perform the weapon upgrade. Save the good once for later. Upgrading the weapon: Now that you have enough grinders of the correct quality, check your weapon's Manufacturer then visit the correct upgrade shop. Use the following table to Head to the right place: Upgrade Location Table ------------------------- Clyez for Kubara Parum for GRM Neudaiz for Yohmei Moatoob for Tenora Works ------------------------- Once you find the weapon upgrade NPC, you'll need to remove the weapon from Your action palette. Once you've done so, talk to the NPC, agree to the Disclaimer, select your weapon, then the grinder of equal or higher rank. The NPC will now give you a sentence that estimates the probability of success with the grinder you chose. The phrases from best to worst are: There is no chance of failure. The probability of success is very high. The probability of success is high. The probability of success is about fifty-fifty. The probability of success is low. The probability of success is very low. There is no chance of success. If you're comfortable with the odds or are a gambler, agree to proceed and you'll see a meter at the center of the screen start to fill up and shake. The upgrade is a success if the meter fills up completely without shattering. You'll then see a window at the bottom left of your screen showing the exact Benefits that the upgrade has done to the weapon's ATP, ATA, TP and PP, as applicable. If the upgrade failed, I'm sorry. Your weapon's been destroyed and lost. Better luck next time. There you have it! That's pretty much how upgrading weapons is about. ---------------------------------- Section 12: Line Shields ---------------------------------- Line shields can be referred to as armor as they protect the player by reducing damage that he/she receives from enemy attacks. Thought the concept of armor is easy to understand, here's a table that explains the information that you'll see when you highlight line shields in your items or equipped items menu. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stat | Description --------+----------------------------------------------------------------------- DFP | Reduces damage taken from physical attacks and physical photon arts --------+----------------------------------------------------------------------- MST | Reduces damage taken from elemental attacks and technics --------+----------------------------------------------------------------------- EVP | Increases your chance to block an attack and take no damage --------+----------------------------------------------------------------------- Element | The percentage of damage reduction against attacks of the shown | element -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- Section 13: Units ------------------------- Units are items that can be attached to armor to increase its stats or grant special abilities such as HP regeneration. More importantly, CASTs use SUV units as their special racial ability, which are always inserted into any line shields that have an "Extra" slot. There are 4 types of units available, all of which attach to different parts of a line shield, provided the line shield has the appropriate slot available for it to be inserted. Here's a small table which lists the types of slots, as well as what kind of benefits units designed for them tend to bestow upon their wearers when equipped. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Slot | Typical Benefits ------+------------------------------------------------------------------------- Head | Units tend to increase TP and MST, mostly found on Yohmei line shields ------+------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arm | Units tend to increase ATP and ATA, mostly found on GRM line shields ------+------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leg | Units tend to increase DFP and EVP, found on various line shields ------+------------------------------------------------------------------------- Extra | Allows CASTS to use SUV units, HP/PP regeneration, higher stamina, etc. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------- Section 14: Clothes And Parts --------------------------------------- This is perhaps the easiest section in this FAQ. Anyway, the only purpose Clothes have in PSU is to give your character a unique look, to help distinguish Yourself from other players, as well as to satisfy your desire for fashion. Each of the cities have a clothing Shop where you can buy an expanding array of clothing, along with various color variations as well. As nice a concept as clothes and Parts are, it's sad they occupy 3 of your 60 available slots on your character. The only advice I'll place here will help distinguish which race can wear what. Clothes: Human, Newman and Beast Parts: CASTS --------------------------------------------------------------- Section 15: Room Decorations & Remodeling Tickets --------------------------------------------------------------- Just like the Clothes And Parts section. The main purpose for room decorations in PSU is to give your abode a unique look, to satisfy your desire for interior decorating. Each of the cities have a clothing Shop where you can buy several types of decorations to place into the squares scattered around your room. As aesthetic as this sounds, I must mention the most important, and often overlooked decoration: the Open Shop remodelling ticket. This essentially expands your room to include a shop that you can use to sell items that you find or synthesize for extra profit. It's a great way and powerful way to make a lot of meseta if you play your cards right. Set one up as soon as you can. To use redecorating tickets, simply speak to your partner machinery and select the Redecorate Room command, followed by the ticket you wish to use. -------------------------------------- Section 16: Tips And Strategies -------------------------------------- As I play the game more, I will begin to update this section. Until then please bear with me. ---------------------------------------------- Section 16a: Synthesis Material Farming ---------------------------------------------- -Elemental photons that drop are identical to the elemental type of the enemy that dropped them. -Nanocarbons can be found in Sleeping Warriors, as well as Lab Recovery More will be added as they're found. ------------------------------------ Section 16b: Meseta Farming ------------------------------------ (Update Pending) The Holy Grounds B looks to be the most time efficient way to earn money so far With a strong part of 6, you can rip through the mission in roughly 18 minutes and net a 1850 meseta and 18 missions points to boot, while having a rather easy time. For the big money, Desert Terror A runs cough up a whopping 4000 meseta for S rank. Make sure to trying a strong and competent party for best results. Sleeping Warriors also seems to have a decent return as well, mainly due to nanocarbons. However, as new content has just been added, this may change. ------------------------------ Section 16c: Exp Farming ------------------------------ (Update Pending) So far repeated Sleeping Warriors and Grove Of Fanatics runs with a strong party of 6 offer some nice exp rewards. 5 star weapons also tend drop often in Sleeping Warriors, while rare boards drop in Grove Of Fanatics A. This info will likely change as new missions are added. As you become stronger, Desert Goliath becomes the best choice. -------------------------------------- Section 16d: Rare Item Hunting -------------------------------------- (Update Pending) Neudaiz is a hot spot for drops, primarily from the "The Demons Above A" and the "The Temple Of Fanatics A" missions. Again, this section will change as new content is released. ----------------------------------------------- Section 16e: Synthesis Strategies ----------------------------------------------- For those of you who want to maximize your chances at synthesis can do this. Just as a word of warning though. This is very expensive and time consuming. However, once completed, you'll be able to synthesize anything in the game with the highest possible success rates, without having to look for other players Want to know how? You've come to the right place. This knowledge will cost you dearly though. Don't say you weren't warned. The reason this strategy works is due to the fact that Sega allows players to create up to 4 characters on 1 account. Furthermore, Sega also allows players to transfer items to any character on the same account via the Common Box. Please note that the Common Box can store up to 32 different item types. Apart from that, the secret lies in these facts. Now that you understand the reasoning behind the strategy, here's what you'll need: -Tons of meseta -4 characters created on your account with the PMs matching the char's race/class -A lot of time and patience (especially if you use mass character creation to obtain free PM food) Strategy: The strategy's quite simple. However it takes organization and as I said earlier, a lot of time and money. I'll use my account as an example. Character Slot 1: Rosara, Newman FO -> PM will specialize with 100 Tech Character Slot 2: Azrod, CAST RA -> PM will specialize with 100 Ranged Character Slot 3: Felkor, Beast HU -> PM will specialize with 100 Striking Character Slot 4: Kayala, Human HU -> PM will specialize with 100 Armor By feeding the respective characters' PMs with the correct items by transferring them via the Common Box, in time you'll have an account that's able to synthesize anything in the game with maximum chance of success! -------------------------------------------- Section 17: Network Mode Missions -------------------------------------------- As I play the game more, I will begin to update this section. Until then, please bear with me.
