Special Thanks ============================================================================ 1. Introduction/Story Katamari Damacy was released by Namco in 2004. The game got great reviews in Japan and was a hot item for importers. Then, to everyone's surprise, Namco announced a US version! Even greater, the US version is almost completely unchanged from the Japanese version. Music, story, gameplay and box art have remained the same! So what is Katamari Damacy anyway? Good question. The story is very simplistic "In a freak accident, the King of All Cosmos inadvertently annihilated all of the stars. The task of fixing the King's mistake has fallen on his son, the Prince. In order to restore the glorious starry sky, the Prince must roll around a heap of objects on Earth, gathering more and more things from the item-rich planet and sending them off into the night sky. Does the Prince have what it takes to succeed?" Your drunken father (King of All Cosmos) destroyed all the stars in the sky, and naturally it's your job to fix it! A Katamari (a strange ball that everything sticks to) is Presented to the Prince, and he must collect objects on Earth with it to make new stars. At first you can only collect small objects (push pins, erasers, etc) but as it grows you can pick up huge objects like sperm whales, stadiums, even the clouds from the sky. Think of it like rolling a snowball down a hill. It starts tiny, but as it gathers more and more snow on it, it can pick up bigger things. ============================================================================= 2. Characters The King of All Cosmos - Cool, hip, smooth, and just all around badass. He destroys the stars accidentally while carousing drunkenly through the Night sky. He always refers to himself as "we" and tells you what to do. The King of All Cosmos tells you your mission at the beginning of each level and has some of the best dialogue in any game in recent memory. He's seriously hilarious. For his bio the manual says "The King of All Cosmos. Very big. Wears cool threads. By accident, he annihilated the starlit sky, which is where this story begins. The Prince - The Prince doesn't have any speaking parts in the game, so we don't know too much about him. While the king is massive, the Prince is very tiny. He's about the size of a mouse. For his bio the manual says "The King's son. Pint sized but pure hearted. Sent to Earth to fix his father's mess." ============================================================================= 3. Controls Insanely easy to learn. The controls in this game are so simplistic that anyone can learn them! To move, all you have to do is move both analog sticks in the direction you want to go. That's it! To shift your position on the Katamari to the left - Left stick forward To shift to the right - Right stick forward Quickly shift to the other side - Left stick up, right stick back Quick turn - Click both sticks down Look - L1 Jump high in the air to see the level - R1 ============================================================================= 4. Walkthrough I. Make a Star 1 " No...It was indeed not a dream. We really did it. The King of All Cosmos has really done it. A sky full of stars...We broke it. Yes, We were naughty. Completely naughty. So, so very sorry. But just between you and us, it felt quite good. Not that We can remember very clearly, but we were in all nature's embrace. We felt the beauty of all things and felt love for all. That's how it was. Did you see? We smiled a genuine smile. Did you see? The stars splintering in perfect beauty. So many there used to be. Almost a nuisance. Now there's nothing but darkness. Hee...'Tis but a dream...Hee...But a beautiful one. BUT That miraculous fabulous moment has passed, it's over. We came to and found everyone furious. Even the King of All Cosmos was not spared their wrath. Really, everybody was irate. So anyway, pee-wee Prince. Hurry up and bring back the glorious starry sky. Our problem, your problem. Yes? You owe us your existence. We collect on the debt. Yes? Hand in hand, always there. Yes? The very definition of the father and son bond. Yes? All right then get creating." - King of All Cosmos Goal size: 10 cm Location: Inside the house Starting size: 5 cm Royal Present: None Time limit: None Strategy: There really isn't one needed for this area. It's just a starting level for you to get your bearings, hence the no time limit. Just roll around and try to get the hang of the controls and gameplay. Clear the small items off of the table and roll around on the floor to your heart's content. Some interesting things to see in this level are the "Game 2600" console on the floor of the house. This is a good opportunity to get a look at it. It looks a lot like an NES! When you're on the table, look for the TV in the background. You're on it! Look out for the mice in the level until you're big enough to run them over. You'll get a warning if you're about to collide with them. Just have fun in this level. II. Make a Star 2 "Magandang Tanghali po! Have you been to the Philippines? We stopped in the day before yesterday. We hope you can visit during the day's rolling. Like that's possible. Oh, yes...A present for the hardworking Prince. That's what We were thinking. And then We threw it too hard and it went down to Earth. Just fell to Earth. Must be around somewhere, so roll it up while you're at it." - King of All Cosmos Goal size: 20 cm Location: Inside the house Starting size: 5 cm Royal Present: Yes - Winter scarf Time: 6 minutes Strategy: Pick up all the items you can inside the house and move into the yard as soon as you are 10 cm. The entrance to the yard is near the sliding door on one of the walls. There are cones and a small wall blocking it that you must be over 10 cm to roll up. Be very careful of the mice and rolling fruit. They can take out a big chunk of your Katamari! Be sure to pick up the largest items that you can, but don't collide with anything that's too big or you'll lose items. The royal present is in the small fenced in garden in the yard and next to the man playing golf. Roll around in there and the King of All Cosmos will give you a message when you've picked it up. It looks like a wrapped present. In order for it to count, you have to keep it in your Katamari until the end of the level. Be careful not to collide with anything and lose it! It's best to wait until the end to get it so there's less of a chance of losing it. First cut scene: A boy and a girl are sitting in their house watching TV. Mother: Come along! It's time to go! Boy: Ok. The television switches to an emergency broadcast as soon as the mom leaves. News reporter: All the stars have vanished from the sky. The cause is being investigated. End of first cut scene. III. Make Cancer "What is it...? Something's not quite here...Oh, yes! We get it! It just doesn't look delicious. This sky does not seem yummy at all. Everyone is still hungry, yes? Can't you see that, silly? Speaking of delicious, We say crab. Most certainly crab." - King of All Cosmos Goal: As many crabs as you can get (133 total) Location: Inside the house Starting Size: 22 cm 2 mm Royal Present: None Time Limit: 5 minutes Strategy: This is the first constellation level. These are different than star levels since the objective varies. In the regular make a star levels, you must simply meet the size requirement before your time runs out. Constellation levels might have you collect a certain type of object, get to a certain size, or avoid objects. They're a lot of fun and a nice way to break up the levels. For this particular constellation, you must collect as many crabs as possible in the time limit. You'll notice that there are crabs everywhere of many different sizes. The size doesn't matter! I repeat: the size of the crab does not matter. They all count as one crab. That being said, pick up as many fiddler crabs as you can in the beginning. These things are all over the place, and you can get them as soon as the level starts. In fact, in the beginning when the King of All Cosmos is talking to you, just sit there without pressing anything (when he's talking to you after the level loads of course) and crabs will run into you and stick. The timer won't be counting down yet, and you can get a head start with five or so crabs! I would recommend building your size up over time to get all of the bigger crabs as well if you're going for a 100%. The spider crab (really big one) doesn't appear in any other level to my knowledge, so it's a good idea to get it. If you're going for 100%, there are 133 crabs total. After completing the level you'll see a cute little cut scene with a girl greeting the constellation as it comes back. IV. Make a Star 3 "Boa tarde! Have you been to Portugal? We were there yesterday. We hope you can visit during the day's rolling. Like that's possible. Oh, yes. Almost forgot. A Royal Present for the hardworking Prince. That's what We were thinking but We sort of tossed it down to Earth. We had an issue and just sort of pitched it away. Must be around somewhere, so roll it up while you're at it." - King of All Cosmos Starting Size: 10 cm Location: Around the Town Goal Size: 50 cm Royal Present: Yes - Chef's hat Time limit: 8 minutes Strategy: This is an easy level. You'll have more than enough time to meet the requirement if you just roll around however you please. Take the time to familiarize yourself with this section of the town since there will be more levels here later on. Pick up as many items as you can so you can complete the item collection. There are also lots of animals in this level including dung beetles! Be careful of the cats and especially the dog until you're big enough to knock them over. The dog will chase after you if you get too close to it, so lookout! To get the royal present collide with the tree that has the swing hanging from it when you're around 50 cm. The present will fall and you can pick it up! The tree is up on the raised area in the level. You'll either have to use the ramp in the back of the level to get there, or roll up the slide. There's a cat near it and an alarm clock on the swing. It might take a few tries to get the present to fall so don't worry if it doesn't come down the first time. Just keep running into it and it'll come down. Second cut scene Still inside their home Boy: Mom, the TV said all the stars disappeared. Mother: Oh honey, things like that just don't happen. There's our cab! Boy: But that's what they said. Right? V. Make a Star 4 "Buenos dias! Have you ever been to Spain? It's Our other homeland. We hope you can visit during the day's rolling. Like that's possible. Oh, yes. Almost forgot. A Royal Present for the hardworking Prince. That's what We were getting when We lost it on Earth. Wallet, keys, rings, hopes and dreams. We lost it all. Must be around somewhere, so roll it up while you're at it." - King of All Cosmos Starting Size: 5 cm Location: Inside the house Goal Size: 1 m Royal Present: Yes - Championship Belt Time limit: 10 minutes Strategy: Use the same techniques you've been using thus far. Get all the items in the living room (where you start) before moving on to the yard. This is the last house level, so get any items that you might be missing from the level unless you want to play it over again in the future. If this is the case, make sure you get the spiders underneath the house. Do it before you get over 30 cm or else you won't be able to fit down there anymore. The present is inside the house on the dining room table. The dining room is near the boy's room. Roll up onto the counter and over onto the table. It's on the far end of it near the side. Be careful not to fall off, but if you do you can easily get back up. An easy present to get. This level shouldn't get too difficult. It's the first level where you can pick up people too! The girl in the street is the easiest to get so if you're itching to get someone, she's a good target! Third cut scene Now they're in an airport News reporter: Here is a news updates. The sky is showing signs of recovery. The cause is still being investigated. Mom: Hurry along now. Boy: Mom, they said the stars are coming back. Mom: That's nice. Come along, or we'll miss our plane. Boy: That's what they said. VI. Make a Star 5 "Guede Middag! Have you ever been to the Netherlands? We stopped in the day before yesterday. We hope you can visit during the day's rolling. Like that's possible. Oh, yes. Almost forgot. A Royal Present for the hardworking Prince. That's what We were thinking but it got swiped right off Us on Earth. Pick pocketed during the morning rush hour. Very well done, too. It must be around somewhere, so pick it up while you're at it." - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 10 cm Location: Town Goal size: 1.5 m Time: 12 minutes Royal Present: Yes - Camera Strategy: Don't spend a lot of time in the smaller area of town, but instead make your way down to the main area. The King of All Cosmos will point out how to get there once you've reached 45 centimeters. The Royal Present here is tricky to get, but it's worth it. Once you've gone down the hill to get to the main area, go to the right and head up the green fence it's leaning so you can roll up) onto the raised area of green fences. Roll until you see the ramp on the roof, and launch yourself off of it. Hopefully you'll hit the bird carrying the camera and he'll drop it. With the camera you can take pictures in levels using L1 to look and then circle to take the picture. You can view up to twelve of them later in the "Everybody's Memories" section back on your planet. VII. Make Cygnus "What is it...? Something's missing...Is it Our Royal Present? No...Something more...Eureka! We have it! It's not graceful. This sky is utterly lacking in grace! It does not float like a butterfly or sashay like a king. Sigh...it's just not there at all...what's graceful on Earth? Swans, that's what." - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 13 cm 9 mm Location: Around the house Goal: Get as many swans as you can (71 total) Royal Present: Yes - Ducky Time: 6 minutes Strategy: This is a tough, tough level to get all the swans on. You can't tell which eggs hold swans, ducks, or are just regular old eggs. The other birds don't count for anything, so getting an egg that's something other than a swan is useless. Don't waste too much time in the yard. Instead focus on inside the house. If you fall down to the yard and want to get back up to where you start, roll to the porch in front of the house. On the left side (if you're coming out of the house) is a chair cushion. Roll up it and onto the platform that's going up and down (just make sure it's down when you roll!). It'll bring you up near the roof where you must roll across a narrow board to get to the main part of the roof and back near the starting point. It's tough, but there's a nest up there with lots of eggs in it. To get the present here, roll down the ramp in the area where you start. Don't go all the way down, but stop in the middle and head right. It'll be right in front of you near the cuckoo clock on the wall. Make sure you get everything up there first because you'll more than likely fall into the lower part of the house trying to get it. VIII. Make Corona Borealis "What is it...? Something's missing... s it Our Royal Present? No...Something more...Aha! OF course! We got it now! It's not gorgeous. The sky is not gorgeous at all! A starry sky, and it still manages to look shabby. It has none of the beauteous, maximal gorgeousness of Our crown." - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 55 cm 5 mm Location: Around the town Goal: Collect as many crowns as you can (107 total) Royal Present: Yes - Crown Time: 8 minutes Strategy: There are a lot of crowns here! You don't need to be too big to get a lot of them, as many are small enough for you to get in the beginning. Roll up as many as you can! Always keep an eye open for them since some can be tough to spot. Get to the main area of the town as fast as you can, but don't pass up the crowns in the starting area. Once you get big, it's a lot easier in the main area. You'll be able to roll around and pick up a lot. The crowns will start rolling in and you'll be able to get the really big Royal crowns. This is the only level with those, so be sure to get them! IX. Make a Star 6 "Al salaam a'alaykum! Have you ever been to the Arabian Peninsula? We haven't either. We hope you can visit during the day's rolling. Like that's possible. Oh, yes. Almost forgot. A Royal Present for the hardworking Prince. That's what We were planning but We got bored. We have your present away to someone on Earth. Must be around there somewhere, so roll it up while you're at it." - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 50 cm Location: Around the World Goal size: 3 m Royal Present: Yes - Headphones Time: 10 minutes Strategy: Roll around in the park area and pick up everything you can. There's a ton of stuff in there! You'll be a pretty decent size when you come out, but avoid the people near the lake. They're really aggressive and will run at you and hit you if you get close to them. It's better not to mess with those people until you're big enough to pick them up. Roll up the hill past the lake and you'll be in the town. Pretty soon you'll be able to pick up all the people and big objects in town. Roll back to the park area and pick up all the people and larger items there. Once you're huge, roll up past the gas station in town and into the schoolyard. The present is in there hanging from a balloon. You have to be pretty big to get past the schoolyard gate, so it's best to wait until the end to try for the present. This is the first time you're in the world level, but you'll be too small to explore most of it. Cut scene: The family is outside the airport looking at a space shuttle launch pad through binoculars Boy: Oh, I see it. I see the rocket. Hey Michiru, that's where Dad is. Mother: We'll be seeing your Dad soon, children. X. Make Pisces "What is it...? There's something missing...Eureka! We have it! It's not fresh. The sky's spoiled already. It's not fresh at all. It's very ripe. This is not acceptable! Quickly! Find some fresh fish on Earth! - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 99 cm 9 mm Location: Around the Town Goal: Collect as many fish as you can (174 total) Royal Present: No Time: 5 minutes Strategy: Before we begin, it should be noted that Jellyfish, turtles, and turtle eggs do not count as fish, but stingrays, fish statues, and anything else that makes your counter go up is. There's a ton of fish in this level and a short amount of time to collect them all in. The lake is obviously the best place to begin, but don't miss the insane amount of tunas and statues around the lake area near the road. Build up your Katamari quickly so you can get the tunas and statues. There are a ton of those, but they're useless unless you're big enough to get them. Speed counts here, so be fast if you want to try for a 100%. XI. Make Gemini "How can this be...? There's something missing...Ah-hah! Yes, that's it! We get it now! It has no mystery! The sky has no mystery. It's so straightforward and easy to understand. That's important of course, but just soooo boring. We'll tell you what's mysterious. Twins. What is with that connection? Is it telepathy? Do they have ESP?" - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 88 cm 8 mm Location: Around the World Goal: Get as many twins as you can (109 total) Royal Present: No Time: 10 minutes Strategy: There are a lot of twins to get here! Take your time to build up your Katamari in the park and make sure you get most of the items in there. You should be able to pick up regular size people by the time you get out of there. To tell if something is a twin, the game gives it a name and either a brother or sister role. For example, instead of picking up a Neo Geo (example, all you SNK fanboys don't go racing to find it!) it would be Shigeru (Older Brother) and the other Neo Geo would be Satoru (Younger Brother) or something along those lines. If you only get one half of a couple then it won't count! You have to get both items to make it count as a set of twins. Once you get large and get most of the twins in town, head back to the lake area to get the Sumos and other large items. XII. Make Ursa Major "It got away...To tell you the truth, We were also making a constellation. Ursa Major, to be exact. A parent that leaves all the work to the child, that looks bad. Deadbeat, yes? So We were finally done, and the last one gets away! Shoot! Stupid bear! We are sick of it! So just roll me up one bear...And roll up the present too...!" - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 1 m 51 cm 5 mm Location: Around the Town Goal: Get the largest bear you can Royal Present: Yes - Hero Scarf Time: 10 minutes Strategy: These types of levels can be quite a challenge. You want to avoid all the small bears and at the same time build your Katamari so you can get the largest bear possible. The bigger the bear, the better your score. You can clear the level by getting a small one, but that sucks! The lake is a good place to start since there's a lot of crap in there to roll up and not a lot of bears. Look out for the bears floating in boxes, and the ones falling from the sky near the huge group of salmon. After that, roll around until you're big enough to get the largest bear (there's a few big ones on the main road). Remember, it's any item in the bear family. Beware of Bear signs and teddy bears count too, so avoid those as well. The present is being held by a man attached to a balloon. He floats around the street, but you have to be a little over 2 m to reach him. He's usually around the elephant. XIII. Make a Star 7 "Dzien' dobry! Have you been to Poland? We go there often. We hope you can visit during the day's rolling. Like that's possible. Oh, yes. Almost forgot. A Royal Present for the hardworking Prince. That's what We were thinking while We were walking the dog. Couldn't help but throw it towards Earth. We suppose it was too much to ask the dog to fetch it that far. Must be around somewhere, so roll it up while you're at it." - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 50 cm Location: Around the World Goal: 6 m Royal Present: Yes - Apron Time: 10 minutes Strategy: This one is pretty easy if you move to the new areas as soon as they open. Some people have trouble here for some strange reason. Just move along as you normally would and get the huge objects in the city. You can get your Katamari pretty damn big on this one if you go fast. The present is more about luck than skill this time around. It's in the schoolyard with all the other falling crap. Just wait until you see it falling. Cut scene: The family is waiting at a bus stop. Mom: Here's the bus to the Space Center. Boy: Okay. A Katamari rolls in the distance after they get on the bus. XIV. Make Taurus It got away...To tell you the truth, We were also making a constellation. Taurus, to be exact. A parent that leaves all the work to the child, that looks bad. Deadbeat, yes? So We were finally done, and the last cow ran away! Shoot! Stupid cow! We are sick of it! So just roll me up one cow...And roll up the present too...! - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 1 m 11 cm 1 mm Location: Around the Town Goal: Largest cow Royal Present: Yes - Sumo Loincloth Time: 10 minutes Strategy: This level has the same basic idea as Ursa Major. Try to get the largest cow possible! You start out near a bunch of cows, which I would recommend getting away from as soon as possible. Ice cream cones don't count as part of the cow family, but milk and cow signs do along with cows (obviously). The largest cow out there is the Ox. They aren't too hard to find since there's one right in the middle of the road in the uppermost part of town. You have a lot of space to move around in, but stay in the towns instead of the lake area. It's ridden with calves everywhere, so it's almost impossible to escape without hitting one of them. As you get bigger, look out for the line of dairy cows that move very quickly on the road in the uppermost part of town. If you move down near the coast to get an ox, don't go over the cliff. Go down the hill. You can't see it from the top, but there are calves at the bottom of the cliff. The present here is tough to get. You need to get close to the starting position, but you need to be around 2 m. Look around for the present, and launch yourself off the ramp to get it. XV. Make a Star 8 "Zdravstvuite! Have you ever been to Russia? We were there yesterday. We hope you can visit during the day's rolling. Like that's possible. Oh, yes. Almost forgot. A Royal Present for the hardworking Prince. That's what We were thinking. But We didn't bother to actually get one. But We're sure there's something that looks nice down there. Something that looks like a present. It's Earth after all. They have everything. Roll it up while you're at it." - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 10 cm Location: Around the Town Goal: 12 m Royal Present: Yes - White Guitar Time: 18 minutes Strategy: This is the first level where you can pick up really big items such as houses, cars, monster trucks, sea monsters, etc. Before you move into town (past the 45 cm mark), build up to about 70 cm or so. There aren't too many smaller objects in town, so it's easier to build up in the starting area until you can get some of the medium size objects. Once you get into town, move quickly and pick up everything. Start collecting people as soon as you can! If you don't think you're on pace to make the goal, don't worry. The big items add a ton to your score. Soon enough, you'll be able to finally get houses! Just roll on top of them and they'll stick to you like anything else. Eventually, Nessie rises out of the lake. Make sure you get it! Also get the big turnip since it's a rare item. The present is in the last part of town (past the 1.5 m mark). It's tied to a small car going around the road. Just roll around until you find it. Cut scene The family is now at the Space Center Mom: They're larger than I expected, these space rockets. Nicer too. Boy: I want to be an astronaut too. Mom: I'm sure your father would be very pleased. Speaking of your father, where is he? XVI. Make Virgo "Hmmm...It's lacking a certain something...Is it Our Royal Present? No, that's not it. Oh, yes! We get it! Prettiness! This sky is not pretty at all. It's rough and masculine. Possibly sweaty. What We really want is pure, girlish prettiness. There should be loads of maidens like that on Earth." - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 1 m 11 cm 1 mm Location: Around the Town Goal: As many girls as you can! Royal Present: Yes - Running Top Time: 10 minutes Strategy: This might be the easiest collecting level next to Cancer. The "3 women waiting" dolls count, so while you're building up, get those. Once you're big enough find the huge groups of girls and get rolling! The lake is good as are the various groups of classes around. The girl statues count once you're big enough to get them. The royal present is near the lake. It's on top of a beach umbrella, so you have to be a little bigger to get it. XVII. Make the North Star "For some reason...For some reason I don't feel comfortable at all. Is it because Our Royal Present is missing? No, that's not it...Oh, yes! We get it! There is no center. There is no belly button. There is nothing solid in the center of the sky. That's why it's unstable, off-kilter, undignified and preposterous. Oh! We remember now. It's the North Star." - King of All Cosmos Starting size: ? Location: Around the World Goal: As close to 10 m as possible Time: None Royal Present: Yes - Wig Strategy: This is a really fun level to play in this gamer's opinion. You roll your Katamari until it's at what you think is 10 m. Once it's there, press square to end the level. You obviously don't have a size gauge, so you have to guess when it gets there. The easiest way to get close to 10 m is to find an object that you need to be around 10 m to pick up. You can find one by looking through the item list sorted by size. I personally use the elephant in the upper part of town. You have to be around 9.5 m to pick it up, so once you can get it you know you only have a little longer to go. The Royal Present is near the fire pit in the beginning. It's past all the trees near the park area. XVIII. Make a Star 9 "Sain banu. Have you ever been to Mongolia? We were there yesterday. We hope you can visit during the day's rolling. Like that's possible. Oh, yes. Almost forgot. A Royal Present for your cousins on the Space Mushroom. That's what We were thinking. But then We dropped it on Earth. We got a new one, so the one on Earth is yours. Must be around somewhere, so roll it up while you're at it." - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 50 cm Location: Around the World Goal: 30 m Royal Present: Yes - Hawaiian outfit Time: 18 minutes Strategy: Get everything you can! I can't make it too much more obvious for this one. Start by getting as much as you can in the park area before moving onto the town. By the time you get there you should be huge enough to roll up just about anything. Then move onto the second town and roll up those buildings! Eventually you can move past the barrier and roll up the boats and giant squids. Get as much as you can. The Royal Present is pretty confusing in this level. On the far end of the second town there is a factory that has smoke stacks on it. Get on top of the factory and the present is on the smoke stack. If you're too big you might not get it, so do it as soon as you get to the second town. Cut scene: Dad: Called off! Called off! Boy: Look isn't that dad? Dad! Dad: It was called off. No launch today. Mom: After we came all this way, there's no launch today? Dad: Well, the moon is gone. Mom: My word, it really is gone. Boy: I wanna see! XIX. Make the Moon "Saluton! Do you know Esperanto? Maybe I'll invent a cosmic Esperanto. Oh, yes. Almost forgot. A Royal Present for the hardworking Prince. But We felt bashful about handing it to you so We left it on Earth for you to pick up. You can roll it up while you're making the Moon." - King of All Cosmos Starting size: 1 m Location: Around the World Goal: 300 m Royal Present: Yes - Mask Time: 25 minutes Strategy: This is the long last level. The finale if you will. You'll get so massive that you can even rip the clouds and Gods from the sky while tearing up rainbows, islands, giant turtles and anything else you could possibly think of from the land. There's not too much of a strategy. There is absolutely no way you can get everything this level has to offer in just one run. Try to get every object you can and enjoy the sheer scope of the level. If you're panicking towards the end, the icebergs and various islands add a ton to your Katamari. Get all the rare items like the thunder God, turtle, super giant squid, whirlpools, storm clouds, rain, etc. The Royal Present is being held by the red flying Jumboman. You need to knock it out of his arms. How to do that I'll leave up to you. It's a great level to end on and when you finish, you get to roll up the countries on the world as the credits roll. Also, our favorite family also got rolled up onto the moon. I've hoped you've enjoyed this game as much as I have! 5. Eternal levels After you finish the last level, you can play old levels over in order to unlock the three eternal levels. These are set in the three different locations in the game and you do not have a time limit. You are free to roll around and collect as many items as you want and explore the world of Katamari Damacy on your own time. It's a lot of fun and offers and extra challenge if the game leaves you wanting more. To unlock the three levels you must: Eternal 1 (inside the house) - Build up your Katamari to at least 1 m 30 cm in Make a Star 4. Eternal 2 (around the town) - Build up your Katamari to at least 25 m in Make a Star 8. Eternal 3 (around the world) - Build up your Katamari to at least 800 m in Make the Moon. Remember, you can only unlock these after you have beaten the last level. Some of them are pretty tough, but it's possible. I've unlocked all three! It takes practice and some patience but you can do it. 6. Shooting Stars Shooting stars are rewarded when you complete a level very quickly. To see the shooting star after you've earned it, go to the View Constellations menu when you're on the Prince's star. You'll know if you've gotten a shooting star because the King of All Cosmos will give you a special message after completing the level. The stars don't do anything, but they're cool to have. To get all the stars you must: Make a Star 1 - Meet the goal size in 1 minute or less Make a Star 2 - Meet the goal size in 3 minutes or less Make a Star 3 - Meet the goal size in 4 minutes or less Make a Star 4 - Meet the goal size in 6 minutes or less Make a Star 5 - Meet the goal size in 8 minutes or less Make a Star 6 - Meet the goal size in 8 minutes or less Make a Star 7 - Meet the goal size in 8 minutes or less Make a Star 8 - Meet the goal size in 12 minutes or less Make a Star 9 - Meet the goal size in 15 minutes or less Make the Moon - Meet the goal size in 20 minutes or less 7. Special Thanks Huge thanks to the Katamari Damacy community and Namco for bringing this game over to the US. Please do the same with the sequel. It's awesome and completely original. Vix and aechris deserve major props for their FAQs. I was going to make this a FAQs/Walkthrough but then I saw theirs and figured why bother. If you want a full item list and very in depth details on the cousins then visit either of them. They both have massive FAQs that are great and easy to use, so go enjoy them! CjayC of course for making such a lovely site where I can host all my crap on here and have other people actually look at it instead of putting it on a cheap Geocities site that would get three hits a day. The internet would suck a lot more without GameFAQs, so thank you. Thanks to Hollywood Hijinx, houjix, Nicholas23 (wherever you may be), LUEshi and all the cool users that are still on GameFAQs. You guys and the awesome FAQs and guides are the reason that I'm still here and will remain so for many years to come. Without good users, this wouldn't be my third year on GameFAQs. Finally, thank you to everyone who's played this game and took the time to read and appreciate this guide. Go out any buy this game to show Namco (and other developers!) that they need to bring more quirky games like this to America.
