Codes are also provided to obtain any of these items with the cheat devices CodeBreaker and GameShark. These codes can also be converted to work on the Action Replay MAX device, but you are on your own to figure out how to do that. I did not use any strategy guide or FAQ/walkthrough to help me write this guide. The original codes were taken from CodeJunkies.com and converted for CodeBreaker, and I used those to create my own equip codes and start mapping the item table. The rest was simply hours and hours of painstaking work. This guide is not meant as a complete item database. Weapon Combine recipes, item locations, stealing information and item drop information are not included. This guide is also not a gameplay guide or a walkthrough. If you are having trouble playing the game normally, please consult another guide. ============================================================================== 2) DISCLAIMER ============================================================================== This guide is for the Playstation 2 version of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. I have never played the Xbox version, so I cannot be held accountable for any inconsistencies between the two versions. As all of the game's items are listed below, expect to encounter story spoilers if you have not yet completed the game. Codes and hex values in this writing are "as is". I will not provide additional codes or code conversions from one device to another. The only thing I will do is correct any mistakes that are discovered or add additional codes provided to me by the readers, if they are applicable. Be careful using these codes, as using them incorrectly or in a carefree manner may cause problems with your game. For example, if you save the game with a dummy item equipped, there is a slight chance your save will become corrupted and unusable. Is has not happened to me, but I take no responsibility if it happens to you or anyone else. Making a backup of your save file prior to using these codes is recommended. ============================================================================== 3) ITEM TABLE ============================================================================== ------------------------------------- I. Listed for informational purposes only. ------------------------------------- II. Table Info ------------------------------------- All relevant (and some irrelevant) items have been listed in the above table. Not all items are usable, as they were never originally intended to be equipped. I have included as many items as I could, within reason. The item numbers from the Weapon Combine menus have been listed on the far right, where applicable. Observant readers may notice that there are gaps in the hex list (eg: 72-79, 8F-96, etc). These values represent dummy items. They are listed as "??????" in the game and will cause the game to crash when you interact with them. The crash rate by equipping dummy items is 100%, so don't expect to find some hidden goodies -- I've tried them all! There are eight more dummy items after the end of the table, and then it begins to list the item icons you see in the weapon list sort screen. Obviously you cannot use those for anything. I have not mapped any further than that, as all of the important items have already been covered. If anyone is feeling ambitious enough to continue mapping the table and happens to find something useful, then feel free to forward the information to me and I will update the guide and give you full credit. However, I am not interested in updating the table to simply list the rest of the useless items, so only submit useful info please. ============================================================================== 4) THE CODES ============================================================================== These codes are for the CodeBreaker (any version) and the GameShark (versions 2-4). All game entries in your cheat device must have a "Must Be On" (M) code. They have been provided here: CodeBreaker (M) F07544EC 007544EF GameShark v3/4 (M)* F4433D4A DFA0463E GameShark v2 (M)* EE69B2E2 BC1EDF72 * Only the CodeBreaker (M) code has been tested. The (M) codes were converted for use on GameShark. They should work, but I was unable to test them. Please do not email me asking for help with code conversions. ------------------------------------- I. Equip Codes ------------------------------------- Weapon 20AEFB74 00000### Helmet 20AEFB7C 00000### Armor 20AEFB78 00000### Accessory 1 20AEFB80 00000### Accessory 2 20AEFB84 00000### Accessory 3 20AEFB88 00000### Replace the ### with the desired hex values from the item table above. ------------------------------------- II. Usage ------------------------------------- 1. Find the items you want in the table and type their hex values at the end of the appropriate codes. 2. Load the game with the chosen codes active and unequip each slot (select "Nothing equipped"). The items will not actually be removed from their slots; they will just be duplicated into your inventory. 3. Save your game and restart your CodeBreaker/GameShark. 4. Repeat steps 1-3 until you have all the desired items in your inventory. 5. Reload the game without the equip codes and play. ------------------------------------- III. Tips ------------------------------------- It is not necessary to keep the codes active during play; the items will remain after you save and still be there when you reload your save later, whether the codes are still active or not. It is not recommended to continue to play while the equip codes are active, as they will erase any new items you try to equip, and they may also cause other unexpected issues. Do not equip non-weapon items to the weapon slot, as this will cause the game to hang on the loading screen. This is because the game tries to load a graphic model of the item to show Hector holding it, however non-weapons do not have graphic models, hence the game getting stuck. To get a skill or rare item for permanent use, simply use a code to equip it, then unequip the item. You will now have that rare item or skill permanently! You can use this method to get all of the maps and skills at the beginning of the game. To get an unlimited quantity of a particular item, use one of the equip codes to give yourself the item, then unequip it (select "Nothing equipped") over and over until you have reached the desired quantity in your inventory. Items in the table marked with an asterisk (*) either do nothing or cause the game to crash when unequipped. Avoid using these. They are included in the list for informational purposes only. ------------------------------------- IV. Other Codes ------------------------------------- Here are some other cheat codes for the game. These will work for all CodeBreaker versions and GameShark versions 2, 3 and 4. Use the (M) codes listed above. Those codes, however, will not work on earlier versions of CodeBreaker, nor will they work on any version of GameShark or AR MAX. CodeBreaker versions 7.1 and higher do not work on my PS2 systems, so I have no experience with the codes on CodeBreaker.com. For questions regarding those codes, look for support information on the CodeBreaker.com website. ============================================================================== 5) WANTED ============================================================================== I am looking for codes that directly interact with the inventory, making it much more efficient to give yourself the desired items. If anyone is able to hack such codes for use on CodeBreaker v1-6, GameShark v3/4 or AR MAX, please forward them to me for inclusion in this guide. Full credit will be provided. ============================================================================== 6) CONTACT ============================================================================== Do contact me: - regarding hex value or code corrections - to provide me with additional CodeBreaker v1-6, GameShark v3/4 or AR MAX codes not listed above to be added to this guide - to provide me with additional hex values not listed above to be added to this guide (useful ones only please!)
