INTRODUCTION - G0400 ============================================================================= ============================================================================= Hello! I am Damir Kolar and I welcome you to sixth FFX-2 related project. Often times a question arises on how to beat specific bosses, how to attain rare items etc. Well, this is one of the reasons for creation of this in-depth FAQ - to help you broaden your knowledge of lady luck dressphere and to provide you with reasons why this dressphere is one of the best in the game in my opinion. All that and lots of details, nowhere else but in this guide! ============================================================================= ============================================================================= 05.) READ THIS FIRST! - G0500 ============================================================================= ============================================================================= Main issues addressed in this section are: ============================================================================= What are Reels and Dice skills you're talking about? ------------------ G0501 What do I need to start learning these skills? ------------------------ G0502 How do I operate the Reels? ------------------------------------------- G0503 Explaining the reels? ------------------------------------------------- G0504 What are Win Numbers? ------------------------------------------------- G0505 Winning single / multiple Reels effects at once? ---------------------- G0506 Explaining the Dice? -------------------------------------------------- G0507 ============================================================================= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- A - WHAT ARE REELS AND DICE SKILLS YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT? - G0501 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Put shortly, Reels and Dice are two skills that lady luck dressphere can learn. Reels skills can be distributed further into four subclasses: Attack Reels, Magic Reels, Item Reels, Random Reels. Likewise, Dice skills can be distributed further into two subclasses: Two Dice, and Four Dice. All of these skills are explained more in depth in sections 6 and 7, respectively. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- B - WHAT DO I NEED TO START LEARNING THESE SKILLS? - G0502 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- You only need one simple prerequisite - getting lady luck dressphere. This dressphere can be obtained in either CH3 or CH5. Here's how: CH3 - visit Luca; there's Sphere Break tournament going on - your objective is to best three players and then challenge the other finalist, who turns out to be none other than Shinra; Shinra must be beaten in 15 turns with quota of 50; it is recommended that after beating two players in qualifications you save your game - challenge and defeat third player before taking on Shinra; if you lose, simply reload CH5 - if you failed to obtain lady luck dressphere in CH3, visit 'Luca - Basement B'; you'll find Shinra here - play him in Sphere Break; he's tougher this time around, for you need to beat him in 15 turns with quota of 100, but at least you can choose which entry coins you want, so all is not that bad; best him and lady luck dressphere is yours Once lady luck dressphere is yours, you're half set only. Of the six abilities this guide specializes into, only one is mastered from the start. You obtain: - Attack Reels immediately after nabbing lady luck - Magic Reels after accumulating 70 AP - Item Reels after learning Magic Reels and accumulating 80 AP - Random Reels after learning Item Reels and accumulating 120 AP - Two Dice after accumulating 20 AP (requires 4 MP) - Four Dice after learning Two Dice and accumulating 100 AP (requires 8 MP) All of these abilities appear under Gamble main command when you enter the battle. Simply select one of Reels attacks to spin slots, press X three times hoping to get three same symbols and let it rip. If you're choosing Dice attacks, select your target/s and confirm with X. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- C - HOW DO I OPERATE THE REELS? - G0503 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Operating the reels to your tastes is quite simple. All it requires is knowing that symbols on the reels follow specific order, and that with help of START button you can get any result you desire without too much trouble. First thing I'll milk is the information on how are slots for all four Reels skills set-up. For your convenience I've set up four charts which you can look up just below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ATTACK REELS | MAGIC REELS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SLOT 1 | SLOT 2 | SLOT 3 | SLOT 1 | SLOT 2 | SLOT 3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- BAR | BAR | BAR | BAR | BAR | BAR Cherry | Sword | Cherry | Cherry | Staff | Cherry Sword | Cherry | Sword | Staff | Cherry | Staff Paw | Sword | Paw | Hat | Staff | Hat Helmet | Red 7 | Helmet | Skull | Red 7 | Skull BAR | Cherry | Paw | BAR | Cherry | Hat Cherry | Paw | Sword | Cherry | Hat | Staff Sword | Cherry | Cherry | Staff | Cherry | Cherry Paw | Paw | BAR | Hat | Hat | BAR Helmet | BAR | Helmet | Skull | BAR | Skull Red 7 | Red 7 | Paw | Red 7 | Red 7 | Hat Cherry | Helmet | Sword | Cherry | Skull | Staff Sword | Cherry | Cherry | Staff | Cherry | Cherry Paw | Helmet | BAR | Hat | Skull | BAR Helmet | BAR | Helmet | Skull | BAR | Skull Red 7 | Red 7 | Red 7 | Red 7 | Red 7 | Red 7 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ITEM REELS | RANDOM REELS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SLOT 1 | SLOT 2 | SLOT 3 | SLOT 1 | SLOT 2 | SLOT 3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- BAR | BAR | BAR | BAR | BAR | BAR Cherry | Red Orb | Cherry | Cherry | Cherry | Flower Red Orb | Cherry | Red Orb | Flower | Flower | Cherry Blue Flask | Red Orb | Blue Flask | Gray Orb | Two Swords | Two Swords Green Flask | Red 7 | Green Flask| Two Swords | Cherry | Cherry BAR | Cherry | Blue Flask | BAR | BAR | BAR Cherry | Blue Flask | Red Orb | Cherry | Cherry | Cherry Red Orb | Cherry | Cherry | Flower | Flower | Flower Blue Flask | Blue Flask | BAR | Gray Orb | Gray Orb | Gray Orb Green Flask | BAR | Green Flask| Two Swords | Cherry | Cherry Red 7 | Red 7 | Blue Flask | Red 7 | BAR | Two Swords Cherry | Green Flask| Red Orb | Cherry | Two Swords | Gray Orb Red Orb | Cherry | Cherry | Flower | Gray Orb | BAR Blue Flask | Green Flask| BAR | Gray Orb | Cherry | Cherry Green Flask | BAR | Green Flask| Two Swords | BAR | Cherry Red 7 | Red 7 | Red 7 | Red 7 | Red 7 | Red 7 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- D - EXPLAINING THE REELS? - G0504 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Does it seem confusing? Fret not, I'll explain how you should 'read' this. For the example I shall use Slot 1 of Attack Reels. Here's an excerpt from that slot that will appear as you attempt to stop the first slot: EXCERPT: . . . BAR Cherry Sword Paw Helmet . . . EXPLANATION: Press START to pause the game - doing so will freeze the first slot on this signs: Sword Paw Helmet If you compare this signs to entries found above in subsection C, you will see that Sword sign will be followed by Cherry sign, and then BAR sign etc. EXACTLY THE SAME THING APPLIES FOR SECOND AND THIRD SLOTS! The only difference is sets of signs that are specific to that slot. Knowing this and with help of START button you can set yourself up for the best combinations of Reels you wish for. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- E - WHAT ARE WIN NUMBERS? - G0505 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Whenever you select Reels skill, a slot machine will appear in lower left corner of battle screen. Here's an ASCII image of how it looks like: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SLOT 1 SLOT 2 SLOT 3 NUMBER 4 WIN NUMBER 5 NUMBER 2 IMAGE 1 IMAGE 4 IMAGE 7 WIN NUMBER 2 NUMBER 1 IMAGE 2 IMAGE 5 IMAGE 8 WIN NUMBER 1 NUMBER 3 IMAGE 3 IMAGE 6 IMAGE 9 WIN NUMBER 3 NUMBER 5 WIN NUMBER 4 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- - WIN NUMBER 1 is awarded by successfully lining up symbols on these images: 2, 5 and 8 - WIN NUMBER 2 is awarded by successfully lining up symbols on these images: 1, 4 and 7 - WIN NUMBER 3 is awarded by successfully lining up symbols on these images: 3, 6 and 9 - WIN NUMBER 4 is awarded by successfully lining up symbols on these images: 1, 5 and 9 - WIN NUMBER 5 is awarded by successfully lining up symbols on these images: 3, 5 and 7 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- F - WINNING SINGLE / MULTIPLE REELS EFFECTS AT ONCE? - G0506 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Here's an example of what happens if you line up symbols like this on Attack Reels for a single effect. NOTE THAT THIS IS A THOUGHT UP SCENARIO! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SLOT 1 SLOT 2 SLOT 3 NUMBER 4 WIN NUMBER 5 NUMBER 2 BAR Cherry Cherry WIN NUMBER 2 NUMBER 1!!! Sword Sword Sword WIN NUMBER 1 NUMBER 3 Red 7 Cherry Sword WIN NUMBER 3 NUMBER 5 WIN NUMBER 4 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- See? You've lined up three Sword signs in number 1 win line. After lady luck is done performing charging, she attacks one enemy with Delay Buster attack. Here's an example of what happens if you line up symbols like this on Attack Reels for multiple effects at once. NOTE THAT THIS IS A THOUGHT UP SCENARIO! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SLOT 1 SLOT 2 SLOT 3 NUMBER 4 WIN NUMBER 5 NUMBER 2!!! BAR BAR BAR WIN NUMBER 2 NUMBER 1!!! Sword Sword Sword WIN NUMBER 1 NUMBER 3!!! Red 7 Red 7 Red 7 WIN NUMBER 3 NUMBER 5 WIN NUMBER 4 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This time we've lined up three BAR symbols in number 2 win line, three Sword symbols in number 1 win line, and three Red 7 symbols in number 3 win line. But now PAY ATTENTION TO NUMBERS OF WIN LINES! Sword icon effects will be applied first, BAR icon effects second, and Red 7 effects last! Effects are put in order according to the number of win line! ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT! Anyway, after lady luck is done performing charging, she attacks in this order: one enemy with Delay Buster, one enemy with Excalibur attack, and finally attempts to KO all enemies. More details on all effects can be found in section 6. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- G - EXPLAINING THE DICE? - G0507 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Luckily (heh!) there's not much to explain here. Simply select either Two Dice or Four Dice, pick who you want to attack, wait for charge time to finish and hope that luck is on your side when determining the outcome. More details can be found in section 7. ============================================================================= ============================================================================= 06.) LADY LUCK'S DICE - G0700 ============================================================================= ============================================================================= Main issues addressed in this section are: ============================================================================= Two Dice effects -------------- G0701 | Four Dice effects ------------- G0702 Cheesy tricks? ---------------- G0703 | ============================================================================= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- A - TWO DICE EFFECTS - G0701 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- This skill, when selected, will prompt you to select the target for attack. Do so, wait for charge time for the attack to fill, and then two dice appear. Based on numbers rolled following is to be noted: - numbers rolled are added together and result determines amount of hits - Two Dice affects only one target - first hit in the chain = [girl's LEVEL x 2] = damage, then as the chain count rises, damage is also greater - there's no way to increase damage done - damage done is of special type and bypasses any protections - girls' LUCK stat DOES NOT affect which numbers are rolled - if two [1] are rolled, damage per hit is 20x times greater - if two [2] are rolled, damage per hit is doubled - if two [3] are rolled, damage per hit is doubled - if two [4] are rolled, damage per hit is doubled - if two [5] are rolled, damage per hit is doubled - if two [6] are rolled, damage per hit is doubled -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- B - FOUR DICE EFFECTS - G0702 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- This skill, when selected, will prompt you to select the target group for attack. Do so, wait for charge time for the attack to fill, and then four dice appear. Based on numbers rolled following is to be noted: - numbers rolled are added together and result determines amount of hits - Four Dice affect all members of target party - there's no way to predict who will be hit - first hit in the chain = [girl's LEVEL x 1] = damage, then as the chain count rises, damage is also greater - there's no way to increase damage done - damage done is of special type and bypasses any protections - girls' LUCK stat DOES NOT affect which numbers are rolled - if four [1] are rolled, damage per hit is 100x times greater - if four [2] are rolled, damage per hit is doubled - if four [3] are rolled, damage per hit is doubled - if four [4] are rolled, damage per hit is doubled - if four [5] are rolled, damage per hit is doubled - if four [6] are rolled, damage per hit is doubled -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- C - CHEESY TRICKS? - G0703 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Only three, I'm afraid. Lady luck can be your potential killer machine. Bring her into yellow HP, give her Cat Nip* acc and then roll those Four Dice. With a lot of luck you may end up with four [6], resulting in 239976 damage. Multiplier of x2 that would appear in this case DOES NOT make each hit be worth 19998 damage. Cat Nip effect takes precedence. * - Cat Nip can be found in CH5, Bevelle, Via Infinito dungeon, floor 40, by plastering Black Elemental boss. My comrade-in-arms MakaveliRidah sent me these two tips: - The Infinite Gil Trick Once you have CONGRATS!, fight a fiend that is immune to Bribe to get gil (all machinas are immune to Bribe). Repeat CONGRATS! to repeatedly cash in. - The Pause Trick To get CONGRATS! easily, repeatedly press Start while the reels are spinning and press X when the 7 is near the middle. If you time it right, the 7 should land on the bottom. Repeat for second and third reel. ============================================================================= ============================================================================= 08.)
