Special Battles ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I.)CONCEPT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BATTLE) -------- This add-on of the game plays by itself, unlike DW: Xtreme legends. In this game you are to attain a more strategy approach to the game. The main idea is to take out the enemy MAIN CAMP, or enemy MAIN GENERAL, in each level. To do this, I find it very easy to go behind enemy lines and knock out a couple of enemy bases so it cuts off the middle enemy bases. That way your allies can finish off the cut off bases. Cut off bases are easily defeated for they are cut off from supplies and low in morale and troops. The same can be done with generals who are stuck in your base zones. If an enemy general is caught in the BLUE BASE ZONE( ally base zone ) on the map, you will most likely capture him, instead of him retreating. (WORLD MAP) ----------- Now here I wont go into to much detail. The instruction booklet pretty much tells you everything you need to know. But basically on the overhead map is where you give your orders. In short, the more territory you control the more money you make and more officers you can have. You can also give out more commands for the more territories you control. First there is the option to choose 2 policies for the price of one turn. Very good for starters, but you can not always pick exactly what you want. Delegate puts one of your generals in charge of issuing all policies for that turn. The only reason I would use this is for increasing your chance of making that officer your strategist. Assign is the best. You pick whatever policy you want, and these DO carry over from previous games. NOTE: the only way to aquire NEW POLICIES, is through the FIRST OPTION. One of your officers will suggest something and it will say NEW next to it. Once selected it becomes permantly avaiable. (MOVING TROOPS) --------------- I added this section because I know that moving troops is kind of tricky at first. You want to open the STATION option. Now go to the region you want an officer from, then click on the BLANK SPACE next to the name of the region you picked. You can now select a NEW region. After selected you can swap between regions. The space on the far right is for generals you want to be discarded. They will stay there until you TOTALLY CLOSE the station option. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II.) CHARACTERS and HOW TO AQUIRE: (still under development) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here I will list how to aquire characters that you can get without recruitment. I will update as I get more. If you want to aquire EVERY LAST character, I suggest taking all but one territory, then using the recruit and erase method.(Described in EXTRAS section) All are found in the spring of the year. Just have them on your force during this time, these are the years most likely to be recruited. But in every scenario they can vary a couple years. Just upgrade you blacksmith skill in whatever weapon you are using to level 4. Now in a battle after that you need to get 500 kills. You will be awarded the weapon after you beat the level. An easy way to get 500 KO's is to go to a major battle, like another Rulers home region, and NOT CAPTURE more then one or two bases. The 4th Weapon also lets you get a Musuo Rage every 100 kills, just press R3. Another method for getting 500 kills, is to send all your officers to aid YOUR main camp. Now just go around killing soldiers but do NOT take bases. Leave at least one guard captian in each base and by the time you are at one end of the map, you will see the other end replinished full of enemies. The fifth level of Blacksmith allows evolution attacks to be added to your 3rd weapon. While on the fifth level of blacksmith, just complete a level and you will see new options of attributes for your 3rd weapon. Keep in mind you must be using your 3rd weapon for these to appear. NOTE!! All weapons are saved even after game ends. You can start a new game and just level up blacksmith and whatever stats were attached to your weapon will be there again in a new game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV.) ITEMS AND REGIONS: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here I will describe where you can develop a certain item and aquire them to be put into your inventory. With save characters ON, you can use aquired items in New games of FREE mode. Levels attained by upgrading will also be kept from empire to free mode. Character levels can go back and forth, but items must start from scratch every time you start over Empire mode. (note-first items you start with when territory aquired, no development) *(For items that have question marks, you must first have researched the consult skill where an officer suggests a TRADE in that area. Example: Northern Trade, Western Trade, Nanman Trade. After that the item will become available. So check your Consult option frequently. You may also aquire items through the proces of Despotism and Rob Grave. These methods have harsher affects on your countries morale. When your countries morale gets too low riots occur. Riots can lead to rebellion and even death in some cases. Once discovered they will remain in your game, even in new games. I will describe what each policy does and how to get it. Also Some policies add a GOOD or EVIL side to your empire. This can cause diffrent affects and new policies. Use of Upgrade On HARD difficulty. ----------- Development: Make the next darkened out item in a certain area. initial policy ---------- Bladesmith: Increase level of swords by 20. Consult ---------- Spearsmith: Increase level of Spears and nagitas by 20. ----------- Weaponsmith: Increase level of other weapons by 20. --------- All Smith: Increase all weapons by 20. Use of Smithing very often, ------------ Philanthropy: Give people gold and all of item you have most of. Use of RELEASE very often, leads to good harvest and no natural disasters. -------- Depotism: Demand gold and 9 of a random item from people. Use of CONSCRIPT often, Leads to Rebellion and deaths -------- PERSONEL- ------- Search Local: Easiest way to recruit a random officer. ----------- Search Wide: Wider search, less likely to get officer. ----------- Recruit: Find many officers, then you pick the one you want. random Consult, use search alot ---------- Hire Local: Trade items for recruitment of an officer in your area. ---------- Hire Wide: Trade items for officer anywhere on map ----- Train: Officer gets experience. Consult of a rank 5 or above officer. ------- FOREIGN- ------- Short Alliance: Ally with another force for 1 year. ------------- Long Alliance: 3 year alliance. Use short alliance ------- Request: Get reinforcements for 1 turn. Have at least two alliances, found in consult --------- Surrender: Demand another force to surender. Have at least 5 LONG alliances, Consult -------------- Annul Alliance: Break off treaty. Have at least 3 SHORT alliances with previous enemies ------------ Entice Enemy: Ask an officer to defect during battle. Have an ITEM that the enemy wants, CONSULT -------------- Cause Uprising: people revoltin another area. Must have high GOOD skill, CONSULT ------------ Cause Revolt: Cause another officer to become independent. Must have RECRUIT skill, and use it often, then CONSULT ------------- Invite Attack: Taunt enemy to attack you. Must use alot of tactics during battle ---------- Hard March: Move to area NOT adjacent to you. Have officers spread apart on map, then find in CONSULT. -------- MILITARY- ------- Reinforce: restore 1000 troops to an officer. ---------- Reinforce+: restore 2000 troops to officer. Use reinforce, have leveled up officers ------------ Reinforce++: restore ALL troops to officer. Use reinforce+, Level up officers past rank 7 --------- Replenish: restore 500 troops to all. Troops low in units ---------- Replenish+: Restore 1000 troops to all. Troops low, rank 7 or above ----------- Replenish++; restore 2000 troops to all. Take at least half the country of China with a rank of 7 or below. ------------ Scout Report: Find out Enemies objectives. EVENT MOVIES: (under construction) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are 13 movies to unlock I will list how to unlock them. Two Heroes: Have a couple of alliances between Liu Bei and Cao Cao. It Usually lasts between 6 to 9 years. So like two or three LONG alliances. You will then see a movie starting with Cao Cao on his horse. Alliance of Dong Zhou: Just play Dong Zhou scenario, and wait one turn for the Event Battle to happen. Peach Garden: Play as Liu Bei's Forces in Yellow Turban Scenario. Defeat Yellow Turbans and keep the 3 brothers together. He Fei: Must have Zhang Liao Fortified at territory of He fei and he gets attacked there. Chi Bi: Play the Chi Bi battle in its scenario. Yi Ling: Play the Battle of Yi Ling in any scenario. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII.) EXTRAS: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Appointments: Ruler.........given to the leader of your forces Strategist..........Given to someone that use you very often for policies Commander..........Given to someone that you take to many battles ----------------- Getting everybody!!!....... This is sorta cheap but its easy to get all the officers. Just take all regions but one. Form a long treay with them, and start producing TONS of items. You then want to go to recruit-hire. Here you want to look for officers WITHOUT the "get" next to them. The "get" means you already have gotten them before. Most of the time the officer will want itmes or several items. So have many in stock. When you are full on officers just start discarding useless ones and getting new ones. When you have gotten Every officer, you can select ANY of the ones you have EVER gotten in FREE MODE, or EMPIRE MODE. ----------------- Attention!!! Watch those meat buns and chicken. For every item you pick up on the feild your unit will lose a set amount of troops. ONLY GET IF REALLY NEEDED!!! Bonus from your guard captains dont count. ----------------- SPECIAL BATTLES........These EVENT battles can be done during the scenario or they can be done if you fulfill certain requiements during any other scenario. As long as the date is correct in terms of historical. I have personally gotten Chi Bi in Three of the scenarios, and it was always around 203 AD. Just make sure all Liu Bei, Cao Cao, And Sun ce are alive. ----------------- MUSIC!!!!!!! You can now listen to whatever music from all the DW games by selecting options before a battle and choosing your favorite tune. It will then play once you start the battle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII.) Frequently Asked Questions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q. How do you get the options that are darkened out to be available? I want to be able to execute people, and use experienced characters. A. This is simple, just beat the Empire mode once through and you unlock most options. Note to get a higher officer count, you must beat Empire mode with the highest amount of officers available selected when you start. --------------- Q. I cant get the policy Rob Grave, how come? A. These type of policies are not random. They involve the use of EVIL policies over and over until you get a certain EVIL score, that the game keeps track of. When you are EVIL enough to your empire you will see it appear in the list of policies under ASSIGN. Same goes with GOOD policies. Check the policy section for more details. --------------- Q. How do you get 500 kills in these levels, they are so short A. Again read the 4th weapon section of this faq. I have listed many tips om how to aquire the 4th weapons. --------------- Q. How Do you get a strategist and what does it do? A. The strategist position is recommended to a rank 7 or above officer that has been used in Consult or Delegate several times. The position enables that officer to use tactics much more often during battle, and is a regular consulting officer every time you consult offering very good strategies. --------------- Q. What the difference between the 360 version and PS2 version? A. If you have a 360, get it. It looks amazing on HD TV. No more slow down either. It really is impressive on the 360, more then I ever thought a port would be. And being a true 3 kingdoms fan, and owning all the games. The 360 version outshines all the previous. Too bad we couldnt see DW5 special here too. --------------- Q. I did the requirements for a policy, how come I dont see it in ASSIGN? A. Because most all policies are discovered in the CONSULT option, AFTER doing the requirements. So its a game of luck kinda. You gotta do the requirements then keep checking CONSULT for your policy to appear. The only ones that appear directly without CONSULT are the EVIL and GOOD policies --------------- Q. How do I get two players? A. Before a battle in the battle map screen, just press start on the second controller, for the 360 make sure the controller is on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IX.) SPECIAL BATTLES: These EVENT battles can be done anytime around the year it happened as long as certain requirements are met. Example, you cannot get Guan Du if you are playing as Liu Bei because he wasnt involved in that fight. So make sure you are a force involved in the battle. ----------------------- Yellow turban Rebellion ----------------------- In the Yellow turban scenario just wait one turn. Play as anyone ----------- Hu Lao Gate ----------- Play as anyone, Have dong Zhou alive, Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Jian all alive. Yuan Shao must also be alive. This happens around 191 AD. In Dong Zhou Scenario just wait one turn. ------------ Guan Du ----------- Play as either Cao Cao, or Yuan Shao. Yuan Shao must have control of Jin Yang and surrounding territories. Note if you play this scenario, just wait one turn. Cao Cao must have Luo Yang and Pu Yang. In Guan Du scenario I think this takes three turns. ----------- Chi Bi ----------- Around 203-208 AD or one turn if you are playing the scenario. Liu Bei, Cao Cao, and Sun Quan must all be alive. In some instances I even had Sun Jian still. Wu must control Chai Siang, Jian Ye. Liu Bei must have Xia Pi, and Cao Cao must have Xu Chang. One turn in Chi Bi scenario. ----------- Yi Ling ----------- Okay this one is tricky to get. Around 210-215 AD. You should try this first in The flames of Chi Bi scenario. Play as Wu or Shu. If Wu dont take anything except the bottom free province. ALLY with Cao Cao for long term, let Liu Bei take all territories until he gets to CHANG SHA. Let him take it. Then attack Chang Sha. Once you have taken Chamg Sha the next turn you will get a message about YI LING, participate. As SHU, Take over Wu ling and Chang Sha. Then play until Wu attacks either of these territories. Let Them win, and you will see the Yi Ling event after the lose of that battle.
