Mode 2) Edit Mode 3) Visual Database 4) Ending requirements 5) Ending descriptions (spoilers) 1) V.S. Mode Vanquish: Just like it said, defeat as many enemies as you can. Basically it's a competition between you and the 2nd player. You can see there is a gauge at the right top corner. You fill that up by getting some items (usually those gold heads). Underneath the gauge will show that what you can summon when you announce yourself. You'll get a surprise if you get the gauge full. Choose from 3 difficulties and 3/5/10 minutes Pilfer: It's basically a treasure hunt. You break wooden crates and defeat supply captains get some treasures. All you need to do is get some treasure and run back to the merchant. If you notice the bar at the right bottom corner, it's the capacity of treasure your character can get. Bigger guys can get more stuff, and smaller people get less, you can tell. If a character is carrying too much treasures (the gauge will flash), and his/her running speed will be greatly reduced. Also, if you're discovered by the guards, you'll be in pursuit. Choose from 3 difficulties and 3/5/10 minutes. Melee: Same as before, but with bigger settings and short barricades surrounding the area. Choose from 3 difficulties and 3/5/10 minutes. Endurance: You and your competitor will be standing on a small square land surrounding by a poison pond. Enemy soldiers, Tiger Tanks, and generals will come out by time to time. You need to endure for 10 minutes. Basically the one survives will win the game, but if both survives, then KO rules the result. Choose from 3 difficulties. V.S. Mode Items (Thanks Finfreeze for the English names): The effect of an item is chosen at random. The Fortune Book has different effects based on the chosen mode. Sorceress Blade 1. Opponent can't attack for 10 seconds. 2. Opponent's attack is cut in half for 10 seconds. 3. Your attack is doubled for 10 seconds. Sorceress Shield 1. Opponent can't block for 10 seconds. 2. Opponent's defense is cut in half for 10 seconds. 3. Your defense is doubled for 10 seconds. Sorceress Boots 1. Opponent's movement speed and jumping ability are decreased for 10 seconds. 2. Opponent can't jump for 10 seconds. 3. Your speed is doubled for 10 seconds. Storyland Seal 1. Opponent's musou gauge is set to 0. 2. Your musou gauge is maxed. Magic Guide 1. You become a phantom trooper for ten seconds. Fortune Book (Vanquish): 1. Your opponent's summon gauge empties. 2. Your opponent is frozen for an unlisted amount of time. 3. Your summon points increase. Fortune Book (Pilfer and Melee): 1. Opponent loses 5 points. 2. You gain 5 points. Fortune Book (Endurance): 1. Your opponent is frozen. 2. All enemies target your opponent for 10 seconds. Magic Orb: - Effects are random. Pilfer Mode Treasures: Treasure Bag (1 Point): You can carry up to fifteen of these at one time. Double Treasure Bag (3 points): Weighs twice as much as the Treasure Bag. Treasure Chest (6 points): Weighs three times as much as a standard Treasure Bag. 2) Edit Mode The Edit Mode has been greatly improved in DW4: Empires. Now you can choose from 3 models, 3 voices, and every single moveset of the 42 standard characters plus the Great Sword and Rapier. The old models used in Dynasty Warriors 4 are still available, but the design of their outfits are slightly changed. Model description: 1) Hero: This is the male model from Dynasty Warriors 4. 2) Warrior: He is a big guy with massive muscle. 3) Strategist: A young strategist that looks harmless. 4) Princess: The female model from Dynasty Warriors 4. 5) Amazon: A slim mature female model. This model is called ?beauty? in the Japanese version. 6) Girl: A girl looks like around 13-14 years old, with the height similar to the Qiao sisters. Voice description: 1) Fiery: The male voice from DW4, compatible to the Hero model. Also known as Fu Xi?s voice in Japanese version. 2) Savage: A manly voice compatible to Warrior model. 3) Calm: Like the description, standard voice for the Strategist model. 4) Active: The female voice from DW4, compatible to the Princess model. Also known as Nu Wa?s voice in Japanese version. 5) Soft: The voice compatible to the Amazon model. 6) Innocent: The standard voice for the Girl model. Status selection: 1) Normal: The standard ability type. Has average status and speed. Starts with 2 items slots. 2) Berserker: Has a slightly high attack and musou, but a low defence and low speed. Standard status for Fu Xi. Starts from 1 item slot. 3) Defender: It has the strongest defence among these model, but very slow. Starts from 1 item slot. 4) Advisor: It is the above standard status with high musou which will be maxed out at level 5. Starts with 3 item slots. 5) Warrior: This is a status with short stats bars but with a ridiculous fast speed that almost equals to the maximum. It is believed to be Nu Wa?s standard status. Starts with 1 item slot. 6) Crusader: This status has the highest attack that succeeds Lu Bu?s and has high HP. The downside of this status is it will slow the character down. Starts from 1 item slot. 7) Average: It is the worst status you can ever find in the game (close to Liu Chan) with low life, musou, attack, defence and running speed is below average. Starts with 5 item slots. 3) Visual Database A) General information It has 3 options to choose from, View Model, Voice Collection, and Profile. i) View Model In this option, you can choose from the 6 models of the character (except edit characters), the 5 weapons (level 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10 & 11) and look at every controlled moves during the game (from the 4-6 hit combo depends on your weapon to announcing and musous). Also, you could zoom in the character and move the camera model from anywhere. ii) Voice Collection You could listen to the dialogue during the game. It has 5 categories: action, situation, friendliness, enemy, and within battle (extra voice acting for Empires). iii) Profile Every standard character will be given a short description generally about his/her character. Also you could listen to a short self introduction by pressing the Triangle button. Edit characters won?t get this option. B) Soldier information You will only able to view the model and read a short description about the normal soldiers you see everywhere in the game. Except for the 4 generic general models that you have almost every single option as standard characters (self description excluded), you can also listen to their voices. C) Gallery The gallery contains Illustrations, the Opening Movie, and Ending edit and the illustrations and ending scenes can be unlocked with certain requirements. Illustration requirements. # 001-126 (CG pictures) Each standard character has 3 CG pictures arranged in the same order of the weapon information for 3 times. There are 2 ways to achieve these pictures: 1) Recruit that character into your army. As long as they?re in your force, you?ll automatically achieved his/her 3 CG pictures. 2) Play DW4: Empires with both DW4 and DW4XL save datas in the memory card. # 127-168 These are drawn pictures of standard characters, coming in the same order of weapon information. In order to put them into your collection, you need to keep that characters in your force while you rule China. #169 - Play as the young generic general and win a battle. #170 - Play as the flunk generic general and win a battle. #171 - Play as the generic strategist and win a battle. #172 - Play as the generic Nanman general and win a battle. #173 - Win the Yellow Turban #174 - Rule China with an edit character serving in the force. #175 - Win Elimination of Dong Zhuo event battle. #176 - Win the Battle of Chi Bi. #177 - Rule China with production of Storm Runner Saddle enabled. #178 - Rule China with production of Hex Mark Saddle enabled. #179 - Rule China with production of Shadow Runner Saddle enabled. #180 - Rule China with production of Red Hare Saddle enabled. #181 - Rule China with production of Elephant Saddle enabled. #182 - Rule China in a short period (maybe turn 30 or less). #183 - Clear Empire Mode with either Zhou Tai, Cao Ren or Yue Ying. #184 - Rule China with all items produced and complete item collection (including Shadow Harness Saddle) #185 - Clear Empire Mode with either Gan Ning, Ma Chao, Zhang Liao or male edit character. #186 - Clear Empire Mode with either Yue Ying, Zhen Ji, two Qiaos or female edit character. #186 - Clear History Mode with Cao Cao. #188 - Clear History Mode with the Sun Family. #189 - Clear History Mode with Liu Bei. #190 - Clear History Mode with other forces. 4) Endings requirements Note: These requirements are for completing the replay gallery only. In order to see them after finish the game, you must have all characters for that certain scene. Scene 7 a) Special - Rule China with Zhou Yu, Zhou Tai, Lu Xun, Gan Ning and Sun Ce. b) Rule China with either Xu Zhu, Sun Ce, Guan Yu or Zhang Fei. c) Rule China with any female characters or Zhang He. d) Rule China with either Sima Yi, Zhou Yu, Huang Zhong, Dong Zhuo or Yuan Shao. e) Rule China with either Xu Zhu, Wei Yan, Lu Bu or Meng Huo. f) Fule China with any characters. Scene 8 Same as scene 1 5) Ending Scenes Description (Spoilers) Scene 1 a) Normal ending 1 -5 characters walk toward to the top of the castle, with the ruler at the middle. b) Good Emperor ending 1 -The emperor walks toward to the Emperor seat with his/her subordinates following him/her, surrounded by soldiers. c) Bad Emperor ending 1 -Starts with a close up of the emperor?s face then the camera zooms out. A couple of female soldiers bowing to the emperor and wine bottles can be seen thrown on the floor. d) Feeling Lost 1 -The character looks at the sky standing on a snow land, then sit down on a stone, turning his/her head facing to the left, with the weapon lying on the ground. Scene 2 a) Grand General -The chosen character riding his horse leading a mounted troop. The character raises his hand and everybody reply him with the same action. b) Grand General (Nanman) -Same as scene 2a, but with Nanman soldiers and riding elephants instead of horses. c) The strategist falls -The chosen character will talking in Xu Chang Castle and too focus in his speech. Then he falls and the soldiers beside him held him as he falls. d) Playing Er Hu -The chosen character will playing an Er Hu (a Chinese instrument) by the window and a bird flies by. Soon 2 soldiers reports to the character and the bird flies away. e) Hiding met buns -Xu Zhu talking to the bird and holds a bun on each hand, sitting by the same window in scene 2d. When the 2 soldiers come by, Xu Zhu tries to hide the buns after his back and he falls outside. f) Drunken fellow -The chosen characters is drinking a bottle of wine walking backwards on a ship. Surrounding soldiers try to stop him, but the character walks by the edge of the ship and is about to fall. g) Finding treasure -The chosen character finds lots of valuable in a room. If Xu Huang is in the scene, he?ll raise his axe and hits it on the ground. If Zhang He is chosen, he?ll make a turn and suddenly takes out a rose. h) Teaching lesson -Zhang Jiao is talking his teaching to Yellow Turban members and he burns a peasant in plain cloths while he discovers him. i) Imperial Seal -Some soldiers find the Imperial Seal from a well and hand it to the chosen character. Zhou Tai and Wei Yan will throw the Seal back into the well, while Cao Ren will treat it like a treasure and holds it up. j) Relaxing -The chosen character is sitting on a big chair and 2 maidens are fanning beside him. Scene 3 a) Jumping onto the elephant -The chosen character practices his skills and jumps onto the elephant when it comes by. Then he touches the elephant?s head. b) Duelling tiger -The chosen character practices his skill and a tiger jumps towards him. He uses his weapon to push the tiger back and doing some cool posts afterward. c) Will of conquering -The chosen character is standing by a cliff and a soldier comes by reporting something. Then the character points to the other side of the cliff. d) Feeding pet horse -Ma Cao feeds his white horse and finds the barrel is empty. The horse suddenly raises its body and Ma Chao touches the horse. Then he rides on the horse and ran away. e) Feeding Red Hare -Chosen character feeds Red Hare and also finds the barrel empty, but Red Hare ran away instead. The character reacts a few seconds after Red Hare ran, and he threw the barrow and ran after Red Hare. f) Catching arrow -Chosen character is lying around the *anchoring range. A soldier sneezes and accidentally shot an arrow and the character catches the arrow. Then he looks around looking for the shooter. g) Stop fighting -2 soldiers fight against each other, and suddenly the chosen character comes by and stops the fight using his weapon. Then he shows his skill and the soldiers claps for him. h) Shooting arrow (female character) -Chosen character aims to the target with bow and arrow and hits the center of the target. A couple of female soldiers cheer for her afterwards. i) Harassment -A bunch of female soldier practice archery with a pony tail girl in green armor. They stopped practicing when Dong Zhuo comes by and he walk close to the pony tail girl. Then the girl hit Dong Zhuo?s face with her elbow and all the girls run away, leaving Dong Zhuo alone. j) Shooting arrow (male character) -The chosen shoots an arrow and hits the centre of the target. A couple of female soldiers walk close to him and he raises his right hand. If Zhang He is in the scene, he?ll turn around and doing his fancy posts.
