Remember that fighting Trunks is the one without the sword and the one wearing the Saiyan Armor! He also has the long hair. During the last few days I would play Budokai Tenkaichi 1 (a few days before I got Budokai Tenkaichi 2), I decided to pick Fighting Trunks in the Ultimate Battle mode. I then found out that I loved using him. In Budokai Tenkaichi, he has become one of my, if not my most used character. He’s fast, he’s strong, and he has a small ponytail!! ------------------- III) Contact details If you have any questions about this FAQ, or Future Trunks then e- mail moi! My e-mail address is - nick_kazama@hotmail.co.uk Please remember to read the guide thoroughly before asking me anything though. Chances are you'll find your answer! -------------------- IV) Future Trunks’ Profile After suffering a defeat at the hands of the newly awakened androids, 17 and 18, the Z Fighters went to train in the room of Spirit and Time (or the Hyperbolic Time Chamber in the English dub). Trunks trained with his father Vegeta inside the room. After emerging after 24 hours, which would be equivalent to 1 whole year in the time chamber, everyone could see that both Trunks and Vegeta had gotten much, much stronger. The time that had passed in the room were made obvious by looking at Trunks, he was taller and his hair had grown out. Trunks also decided to ditch using his trademark sword, as it helped him little in a previous battle with the androids and the tip of it had been cracked by them. During his time in the Time Chamber, Trunks’ power became greater than Vegeta’s, which the half-human, half-Saiyan hybrid hid from his father to avoid hurting Vegeta’s pride. After Vegeta was bested in combat by Perfect Cell, Trunks stepped out of his dad’s shadow and powered up into the bulky Ultra Super Saiyan 2 form. This form, while powerful, was incredibly slow. Trunks found this out the hard way as he found that his hits were being avoided quite easily by the bio android. It was at this point that Trunks just gave up and said that Cell could kill him if he liked. However, the monster decided to host a tournament which he dubbed “The cell Games”. He invited the most powerful fighter to take part in it. At the climax to the Cell Games, a death beam fired by the newly arrived Super Perfect Cell tore through the air and Trunks’ too. Trunks died before he hit the ground apparently. Upon seeing this, Vegeta showed that he could truly care about others and went totally apes**t on Cell, shooting several ki blasts at the bio android like a man possessed. After Super Saiyan 2 Gohan’s Super Kamehameha wave (aided by his deceased father Goku) obliterated Super Perfect Cell, the Z fighters brought Trunks’ body back to Dende’s lookout. The dragon Shenron was summoned and Trunks, along with all the people that were killed by Cell, was revived. After saying his goodbyes to the others, Trunks went back home. Back to the future. Once home, he enjoyed a cup of tea with his mother, Bulma, before they heard a report on the radio. The evil Androids, 17 and 18, were attacking again. Trunks removed his jacket, transformed into a Super Saiyan and went off to confront his enemies. “Nightmares don’t last forever mom, one day you wake up and they’re gone.” After locating them, Trunks saved an old timer from certain death and then made quick work of his android foes. Some time later, Trunks is seen preparing to once again embark on a journey to the past, to inform his friends of the good news probably. However, Cell (still in his first form) turned up, planning to kill Trunks and steal his time machine into the past. Trunks wasn’t going to let this happen. He threw Cell into the outskirts of town and finished him off with a Heat Dome attack. At long last the nightmare was finally over. Trunks’ timeline was truly at peace. This is the last time we see Future Trunks in the series... This is his profile from the Budokai Tenkaichi 2 encyclopedia. Base Trunks – This is future Trunks as a teenager. He no longer has his sword on his back, having lost it in a battle with the Androids. After training with Vegeta for a whole year in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Trunks seems to have matured a bit. His hair had also grown quite long during this time, but his mother Bulma offered to cut it for him. Trunks’ has become substantially more powerful thanks to his training, even discovering a transformation beyond a Super Saiyan. At the conclusion of the Cell Games, he returns to his future in the time machine and uses his newfound powers to make a stand against Cell and the androids. At first, Trunks was worried that he would never truly know his father, but after a year of training in the time chamber, he came to understand Vegeta for the man he is. Super Saiyan Trunks – This is the form teenage Trunks takes as a Super Saiyan. Thanks to his training with Vegeta in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, he has grown substantially more powerful. At the conclusion of the Cell Games, he returned to his shattered future and used this form to take on Cell and the Androids. Super Trunks 2 – This is Trunks as an ascended Saiyan, a level between Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2. After their defeat at the hands of Android 18, he and Vegeta underwent severe training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, where Trunks achieved this transformation. As “Super Trunks”, he fought bravely against Cell, after the monster had absorbed Android 18 and achieved his perfect form. In this state, Trunks’ size and strength increase beyond Vegeta’s ascended levels, but at a cost of diminished speed. Because of the massive energy required to maintain this form, it is not sustainable for long periods of time. ------------------- V) Some of Future Trunks’ combos Firstly, press the Square button 5 times. Done? Okay, now press the Square button 5 times again and then immediately press the X button afterwards. Now do the 5 button Square press, the X button and then after Trunks has reached his opponent again, press the Square button another 5 times. This should net you a 10 hit combo. This is the most basic combo Trunks has. Like this; Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, X, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square Okay, let’s move onto Trunks’ different combos. Heavy Finish – Square, Triangle Blaster Wave – Square, Square, Triangle Heavy Finish – Square, Square, Square, Triangle Flying Kick – Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle Rolling Hammer – Left + Triangle, or Right + Triangle Lift Strike – Up + Triangle Ground Slash – Down + Triangle ----- Heavy Finish 1 Trunks punches his opponent once and then immediately delivers a shoulder into the enemies gut. This shoulder blow will stun then, allowing you to do some more attacks, or even launch a Blast move at them (We’ll get to the blast moves a little later in the guide). However, you don’t have to do just one hit on the Heavy Finish move, you can ad more hits to the end of it. Try these; 1 hit finish – Square, Triangle As stated above, Trunks delivers an elbow to his opponents gut. When you press the Triangle button here, hold it down to charge the attack for a little more damage. 2 hit finish – Square, Triangle, Triangle Trunks does his gut elbow and then delivers a fist to the opponent’s chest. 3 hit finish – Square, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle Trunks does his gut elbow, then his chest punch and then (using his same hand), delivers a chop attack to the opponent’s stomach. 4 hit finish – Square, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square Trunks does his gut elbow, then his chest punch, then his lower stomach chop and finally performs a side kick which knocks the opponent away. If you decide to go through with the full 4 hit finish combo, then you will probably have time to use a Blast 1 move, or try to do a Blast 2 move on your enemy. I said probably, because on higher difficulty settings, the opponent can recover almost instantly from knock down attacks. ----- Blast Wave Trunks punches his opponent twice and then slightly crouches down. He is in fact charging the Blaster Wave move. After he’s done crouching (slightly), Trunks produces an invisible barrier that knocks the opponent away. This is chargeable, lets have a look at the different effects it has on the enemy shall we? Square, Square, Triangle (non-charged) – Opponent is stunned ever so slightly. Square, Square, Triangle (charged) – Opponent is sent up, up and away! They will be sent up into the sky and then land a few feet away from Trunks. Also, if you have used specific characters (like say Zangya, or Ultimate Gohan for example), then you will notice that instead of Blast Wave, they have what is known as a Kiai Cannon in their arsenal. The Kiai Cannon is performed differently and you can do an additional teleport hit after using a fully charged Kiai. With the Blast Wave, this is not possible, which is a shame. ----- Heavy Finish 2 Nope this isn’t a misprint, or a typo! Trunks actually has 2 Heavy Finish moves for you to use. This Heavy Finish (affectionately dubbed “Heavy Finish 2” by me) allows you to cause even more damage to your poor opponent. Let’s see what we can do with it; 1 punch will do 210 damage and then the non-charged Heavy Finish will do 570. This is not a usual 2 hit combo, as it doesn’t show up as [2 Hits!] on the screen. 1 punch with a fully charged Heavy Finish will do 210 for the punch and then 1490 for the Heavy Finish hit. 3 punches (combo) will do 630 damage and the uncharged Heavy Finish will produce a 4 hit combo, totalling 1200 damage. 3 punches (combo) will do 630 damage and the charged Heavy Finish will actually not produce a 4 hit combo, probably due to the gap caused by charging time. The charged Heavy Finish will again do 1490 damage. It’s your choice really. If you want to end a match quickly, then by all mean do 3 punches and then the Heavy Finish, but if you want to humiliate (sort of) the opponent, if it’s a human player you’re fighting against, then do the weaker 1 punch to Heavy Finish hit. Hm? What that? You want to do MORE damage? Okay! Do that 5 hit combo (press the Square button 5 times) and then hit the X button. After Trunks has caught up to his opponent, hit the punch button either once more then Triangle, or 3 more times then Triangle, like these 2 examples; Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, X, Square, Triangle See that last Triangle? That’s the Heavy Finish. Chain it into this if you want; Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, X, Square, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square Or you could have Trunks perform this slightly longer combo, try it; Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, X, Square, Square, Square, Triangle And to make the above combo even longer, try this one; Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, X, Square, Square, Square, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square Simplified version = Square x5, X, Square x3, Triangle x3, Square It should come to a 12 hit combo totalling – 4640 damage if you didn’t charge the first Heavy Finish hit and 5110 damage if you did charge the first Heavy Finish hit. Okay, that’s enough for the Heavy Finish hits! ----- Flying Kick Trunks punches his opponent 4 times and then kicks them in the face 4 times, effectively making an 8 hit combo. Wanna do a 16 hit combo using the Flying Kick move? Sure thing! Try this; Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Flying Kick is performed), Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (a second Flying Kick is used) = 16 hits that should come up to 3180 damage. Simplified version = Square x5, Triangle, Square x5, Triangle But wait, let’s make the above combo even longer, by adding the Heavy Finish move and a few extra punches into it. Try this; Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Flying Kick is performed), Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Trunks does a Heavy Finish), Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Trunks does his second Flying Kick) = 20 hit combo Let’s try to simplify the look of that combo a little; Square x5, Triangle, Square x3, Triangle, Square x4, Triangle This 20 hit combo will do 4830 damage if you didn’t charge the Heavy Finish move It will do 5300 damage if you did charge the Heavy Finish move. Got that? Okay, lets take a look at his next move; The wondrous Rolling Hammer attack! ----- Key - RH = Rolling Hammer Rolling Hammer I love this move and you should too! It’s a great little technique that is used to hit your opponent in such a way, that they do an involuntary turn and end up with their back facing you. Always remember that any attacks do extra damage if they hit the opponent from behind. Trunks can perform his Rolling Hammer attack 2 ways; Left + Triangle = Trunks does a Chop with his left hand. Right + Triangle = Trunks does a hard punch with his left hand. Also worth noting is that the Rolling Hammer is chargeable. This enables you to play some great mind games with your friends! Wish I had some that owned this game...) Try to chain the Rolling Hammer move into your combos. Here are a few examples (simplified afterwards of course!); Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, X, Square, Square, Square, Square, Left + Triangle (or Right + Triangle), Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle Simplified = Square x5, X, Square x4, RH, Square x5 Square, Square, Square, Left + Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Right + Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Left + Triangle (Opponent falls over) Simplified = Square x3, RH, Square x3, RH, Square x3, RH (Opponent falls over) In the above combo, the move can last a little longer, meaning that you can get quite a few Rolling Hammer’s in there, before the opponent gets knocked over from it. It varies. Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Flying Kick), Square, Square, Square, Square, Left + Triangle (Rolling Hammer), Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Flying Kick) Simplified = Square x4, Triangle, Square x4, RH, Square x4, Triangle Crazy Random Combo Time! Are you up to it? Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Flying Kick), Square, Square, Square, Square, Right + Triangle (Rolling Hammer), Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Heavy Finish), Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Flying Kick) (Opponent falls over, if they don’t then keep adding to this combo!! Add your own version of the combo, redo this combo’s moves, anything you want. The choices are wide and varied!) Simplified = Square x4, Triangle, Square x4, RH, Square x3, Triangle, Square x4, Triangle... Now you see how long and crazy your combo’s can become! The Rolling Hammer is a favorite moves of Budokai Tenkaichi 2 players, including myself and now hopefully you too! ----- Lift Strike Ah, the Lift Strike! Here’s a good move. It enables you to hit your opponent up into the sky, leading for a very damaging combo. Remember that you have to do AT LEAST 1 punch before you can perform a Lift Strike attack. Try a Lift Strike without punching first and Trunks will instead do a ki blast. Let’s break down the Lift Strike; Firstly, punch your opponent and then immediately after that hit, press Up + Triangle, like this; Square, Up + Triangle Notice how your opponent is sent up into the sky? The actual Lift Strike move itself (like many melee moves in Budokai Tenkaichi 2) is chargeable. Try the above Lift Strike again, but this time hold the Triangle button down. Done that? Great, see how your opponent is sent even higher into the air? Okay, stage 2! After the opponent is sent hurtling into the air, press the X button and Trunks will fly after them, like this; Square, Up + Triangle, Opponent is sent into the air, X Okay, onto Stage 3. As soon as Trunks reaches them, press the Square button to do a 5 hit combo to them whilst in the air. Coupled with the Lift Strike hit, this will produce a 6 hit combo. The combo will end with the opponent being sent down to the ground again. Try this; Square, Up + Triangle, Opponent is sent into the air, X, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Opponent is sent onto the ground You can make that combo in the air a little more damaging by pressing the Triangle button, instead of the Square button, as soon as Trunks reaches them in the air. Like this; Square, Up + Triangle, Opponent is sent up into the air, X, Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Square This will do at least another 1000 worth of damage to the opponent. You can do even more damage than that as well! Press the Triangle button after the 4th Square button press to make Trunks knock his opponent onto the ground hard. Like this; Square, Up + Triangle, Opponent is sent into the air, X, Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle Here’s a simplified version just for you = Square, LS, X, Triangle, Square x4, Triangle Hope that’s not too hard for ya! If it is, then practise it! ----- Ground Slash Finally, we come to the Ground Slash attack. This attack, like the Lift Strike move, requires you to punch the opponent AT LEAST once before you are able to perform it. Like this; Square, Down + Triangle Notice how your opponent is knocked onto his arse? The Ground Slash is also chargeable, try it again, but this time, hold the Triangle button down. See that? The opponent is now falling down in slow motion! Square, Down + Triangle (non charged), Opponent falls onto the floor. Square, Down + Triangle (charged), Opponent falls onto the floor in slow motion. Do the charged one again and then try a combo on him, like this; Square, Down + Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square After this small combo, your opponent is knocked backward, but is still on his feet. Here’s another combo, that enables you to link in a Heavy Finish; Square, Down + Triangle, Square, Triangle For even more damage, try this one; Square, Down + Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Triangle And to add even more damage to the last 2 combos, have Trunks perform a 4 hit Heavy Finish, like this; Square, Down + Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square Simplified = Square, GS, Square x3, Triangle x3, Square Now, we’ll try linking in a Rolling Hammer; Square, Down + Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Square, Left + Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square Simplified = Square, GS, Square x4, RH, Square x3, Triangle x3, Square Hmmm, let’s see... Aha! Let’s try a combo that utilizes the Ground Slash, the Rolling Hammer and the Lift Strike; Square, Down + Triangle, Square, Triangle, Square, Up + Triangle Unneeded Simplified Version = Square, GS, Square, HF, Square, LS That’s a good combo! Let’s make it even longer and more complex; Square, Square, Square, Square, Down + Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Square, Right + Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Square, Up + Triangle, X, Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle Needed Simplified Version = Square x4, GS, Square x4, RH, Square x4, HF, Square x4, LS, X, Triangle, Square x4, Triangle Phew! See what else you can come up with! For the last part in the Ground Slash section, I’m going to tell you how to perform a teleport hit combo. It’s really simple to pull off too! Try this; Square, Down + Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square Remember to watch your timing when performing the teleport hits. ----- Think we’re done for Trunk’s melee moves? Think again! Press the R3 button! Lookey here! SSJ Trunks! This is my absolute most favorite form of Trunks. As an SSJ, he’s fast, powerful and has one of the best looking Ultimate Blasts in the game. Let’s test him out shall we? Firstly, press the Square button 5 times, press X and then press the Square button another 5 times. This should net you a nice little 12 hit combo. Yes, Trunks punches multiple times on the second part of this combo. ----- Trunks’ changed combo list Flying Kick – Square, Triangle Heavy Finish – Square, Square, Triangle Blaster Wave – Square, Square, Square, Triangle Heavy Finish – Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle ----- Flying Kick Trunks punches his opponent once and then kicks them in the face 4 times, effectively making an 8 hit combo. Wanna do a 11 hit combo using the Flying Kick move? Sure thing! Try this; Square, Triangle (Flying Kick is performed), Square, Triangle (a second Flying Kick is used) = 11 hits that should come up to 1880 damage. Simplified version = Square, Triangle, Square, Triangle But wait, let’s make the above combo a bit longer longer, by adding the Heavy Finish move and a few extra punches into it. Try this; Square, Triangle (Flying Kick is performed), Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle (Trunks does a Heavy Finish), Square, Triangle (Trunks does his second Flying Kick) = 16 hit combo that should do 3770 damage Let’s try to simplify the look of that combo a little; Square, Triangle, Square x4, Triangle, Square, Triangle ----- Heavy Finish 1 Trunks Punches his opponent twice and then hits them in the stomach with his shoulder. Notice the difference here? Trunks now punches 2 times before performing the (first) Heavy Finish. ----- Blaster Wave The Blaster Wave is now performed after 3 punches, instead of 2. The Blaster Wave is still the same as last time, meaning that Trunks still does that slight crouching movement, before an invisible barrier knocks the opponent away. Trunks still can’t accompany the Blaster Wave with a teleport hit mind you. ----- Heavy Finish 2 Trunks punches his opponent 4 times before unleashing the Heavy Finish hit, instead of just punching 3 times. This is exactly the same as the first Heavy Finish attack. ----- Think where done with Trunks’ melee moves now? Haha! Think again... again. Press the R3 button one more time. Woah! Big muscles there Trunks. This is his USSJ2 form, it is powerful yes, but this form lacks one important thing – Speed! This form is incredibly slow and he loses most of the combo finishers. Let’s take a look at him. Firstly, press the Square button 5 times and then the X button. Now press the Square button another 5 times. Powerful yes. Slow yes. Before we look into his changed combo list, let’s look at some major differences to his first 2 forms; - Charge speed of ki and Max Power mode is much slower - Can’t do an infinite combo when he’s in Max Power mode. (Infinite combo is done by just repeatedly tapping the Square button when in Max Power mode) - Recovery time after using the Rolling Hammer gives the opponent a chance to attack him while he’s recovering from it) - His dash (press the X button) is shortened. SSJ Trunks has the longest dash. - USSJ2 Trunks has lost his brick wall effect from the first Budokai Tenkaichi game. ----- Super Trunks 2’s changed combo list Heavy Finish – Square, Triangle Heavy Finish – Square, Square, Triangle Blaster Wave – Square, Square, Square, Triangle Heavy Finish – Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle Yes, I know. He’s lost the ability to perform the Flying Kick. It’s replaced by another Heavy Finish move for some reason. If you absolutely cannot live without the Flying Kick, then never use this form of Trunks. Also, notice how his 4 hit finish (of the Heavy Finish move) is now extraordinary slow. Even if you didn’t charge the first Heavy Finish hit, the combo number, shown at the right hand side of the screen, will still reset. His Rolling Hammer is also much, much slower. On the higher difficulties, using the Rolling Hammer (when in this form) will usually result in the opponent being able to turn around to face you again. Trunks recovery time after a Rolling Hammer is that bad. His charge attacks are also downgraded in speed, but that is actually quite a good thing. You see, it’ll now be much easier to cancel the charge hits to once again play great mind games with your opponent. His Lift Strike and his Ground Slash appear to be at the exact same speed they were in his first (base) form. SSJ Trunk’s attacks are ever so slightly faster. ------------------- VI) Future Trunks’ special moves I know you’ve been itching to try out these special moves, so let’s get right to it ya little monkey! If you’re still in USSJ2 form or SSJ form, then press Down + R3 to revert back to base form Trunks. Ping! There we go, okay base Trunks’ B1 moves; Explosive Wave How to do it = [L2] + O Cost – 1 Blast Stock This Blast 1 move has saved my bacon many a time in the past! Trunks creates a small energy ball around himself that does 490 damage to the opponent. Not much I know, but it will instantly knock back any character in the game. You can perform this at any given time, even if you are being pummelled with a combo. Use this only when you need to, try to save it for one of those nail-biting moments. How to do it = [L2] + Up + Circle Cost - 2 blast stocks This is a very handy little move and it can come in very handy if you're having trouble with an opponent. It looks as if Trunks just does a weird movement and drains most of his blast stock, but something in fact has happened. Teleporting is now MUCH easier to do! To top it off, Trunks will even (sometimes) knock the opponent away for you. Now let’s move onto his Blast 2 moves; Burning Attack How to do it = [L2] + Triangle Ki cost = 3 ki gauges Trunks does some quick arm movements, ending with his palms facing the opponent. “Burning Attack!” he yells, as a big yellow sphere forms and is launched straight at the opponent. This is a great attack, because it isn’t chargeable. It’s an instant move. The best way to use these instant moves is to shoot some ki blasts (done by tapping the Triangle button) at the opponent. Once they’re stuck deflecting or getting hit by the blasts, THEN you use your B2 move. This move does 11000 damage at 5 hits. High Speed Rush How to do it = [L2] + Up + Triangle Ki Cost = 2 ki gauges “Here goes!” yells Trunks as he launches himself toward the opponent. What follows is a series of hits (19 including the impact landing on the ground, to be precise) totalling 9630 damage. Rushes are nice moves to have in a battle. A good way of using a rush move in a heated battle is to combo your opponent, ending with a charge hit (Up + Square for example), and THEN use your rush. You’ll find that more hits are added. So, by playing around with combos a little, Trunks’ High Speed Rush move could do 35 hits, totalling 16810 damage. Believe it or not, you can do even more hits than that! Try chaining the High Speed Rush attack with one of the many combos listed in this guide! -_^ And now its time for Trunks’ Ultimate Blast; Finish Buster How to do it = Power up into Max Power mode and then press [L2] + Down + Triangle Ki Cost - 4 Ki Gauges “End of the line!” yells Trunks as he raises his hands above his head and form a huge yellow sphere. “Finish Buster!!” follows as he launches the attack. The opponent is then knocked over by the energy ball. Being his Ultimate Blast, this is base Trunks’ most damaging move. use this the same way you would use the Burning Attack; shoot some ki blasts at the opponent and then launch the Ultimate Blast. The Finish Buster is 5 hits long and causes 13500 damage to the opponent. Okay, press that R3 button to transform into SSJ Trunks and let’s go through his Blast 1 moves shall we? Explosive Wave How to do it = [L2] + Circle Cost – 1 blast stock Oh yes, the Explosive Wave is retained while Trunks is in SSJ form. Like the last time, Trunks creates a small energy ball around himself and also like the last time it still does 490 damage to the opponent. Not much I know, but it will instantly knock back any character in the game. You can perform this at any given time, even if you are being pummelled with a combo. Use this only when you need to, try to save it for one of those nail-biting moments. Finish Sign How to do it = [L2] + Up + Circle Cost – 1 blast stock I love this B1 move! Trunks does 2 short movements with his right hand and increases his strength a little. Not only does Finish Sign increase his strength, it also increases the power of Blast moves. Remember that Finish Sign caps after you use it 5 times. Use it any more times and you’re just wasting your blast stock! I’m now going to list all the different damages of some moves, after you’ve used the FS 1 to 5 times; Normal combo (Square x5, X, Square x5) - 0 Finish Sign – 4470 1 Finish Sign – 4670 2 Finish Sign – 4830 3 Finish Sign – 5010 4 Finish Sign – 5320 5 Finish Sign – 5480 Charged Rolling Hammer (left or right produces the exact same damage) – 0 Finish Sign – 680 1 Finish Sign – 710 2 Finish Sign – 740 3 Finish Sign – 760 4 Finish Sign – 800 5 Finish Sign – 830 Grab move (Up + X) – 0 Finish Sign – 3550 1 Finish Sign – 3690 2 Finish Sign – 3830 3 Finish Sign – 3970 4 Finish Sign – 4180 5 Finish Sign - 4310 Burning Attack – 0 Finish Sign – 11,800 1 Finish Sign – 12,250 2 Finish Sign – 12,750 3 Finish Sign – 13,200 4 Finish Sign – 13,900 5 Finish Sign – 14,350 High Power Rush (These damages don’t include the hit when the opponent falls on the ground at the end) – 0 Finish Sign – 10,000 1 Finish Sign – 10,400 2 Finish Sign – 10,790 3 Finish Sign – 11,190 4 Finish Sign – 11,790 5 Finish Sign – 12,180 Heat Dome Attack – 0 Finish Sign – 14,840 1 Finish Sign – 15,430 2 Finish Sign – 16,020 3 Finish Sign – 16,610 4 Finish Sign – 17,490 5 Finish Sign – 18,090 Okay, the Blast 2 moves; Burning Attack – How to do it = {L2] + Triangle Ki Cost - 3 ki gauges The infamous Burning Attack returns for the previous form of Trunks, only stronger than before! Whereas the Burning Attack used by Base Trunks does 11,000 damage, SSJ Trunks’ Burning Attack does 11,800 damage. It’s still unchargeable and is still very fast. Remember that one of the best ways to use instant Blast 2 moves is to distract your opponent by shooting ki blasts at them. While they’re either getting hit by them, or deflecting them, THEN you use your Burning Attack! High Power Rush – How to do it = {L2} + Up + Triangle Ki Cost – 2 ki gauges SSJ Trunks has changed his rush type move from the High Speed Rush, to the High Power Rush. As you would expect, it does more damage than the High Speed Rush; High Power Rush does 10,000 damage as opposed to the High Speed Rush which does 9140 damage. There will almost always be an extra “hit” added to this rush move, as when the opponent crash lands on the ground they’ll take an additional bit of damage. After that, the whole rush move should have done 10,490 damage at 17 hits. Remember, that if you want to use a rush move try to use a charge hit to knock your opponent away from you, then while they’re involuntarily flying away from you, use that rush! And now, the big one! Heat Dome Attack – How to do it = Power up into Max Power mode and then press [L2] + Down + Triangle Ki Cost - 5 Ki Gauges SSJ Trunks’ Ultimate Blast move also happens to be his best looking one (IMHO). He punches his opponent, grabs them and hurls them into the air. Whilst they are in the air, Trunks casually lands on the ground and points both his hands up. “You’re finished!” he yells as he releases a gigantic yellow beam from his palms. The beam (which has now transformed slightly into a dome) slams into the opponent. “Time to end this once and for all!!” he continues and he slightly brings his hands back and then pushes them forward again, to further knock the opponent away. The enemy is then hurled across the screen. Cool huh? This attack does great damage (especially when you’ve used 5 Finish Signs before using it) and launches the opponent far away from Trunks. This will give you time to build up some more ki, or to use some more Finish Signs again. This moves biggest negative is its ki cost – 5 bars of ki, meaning that Trunks will be ki-less after he’s used it. However, this can be remedied by equipping a [Halo] Z- Item on Trunks. With a Halo equipped, the Heat Dome Attack will only cost you 2 and a half ki gauges to use! The Heat Dome Attack is 20 hits long and does 14,840 damage (18,090 damage if you’ve used 5 Finish Signs before using it). Nearly done now! Tap the R3 button once again to transform Trunks into Super Trunks 2. Let’s take a look at his Blast 1 moves first; Explosive Wave How to do it = [L2] + Circle Cost – 1 blast stock Back again huh? You better believe. It hasn’t changed at all. It still does 490 damage and it still knocks the opponent away a little. It’s exactly the same as it was when Base Trunks and SSJ Trunks used it. Nothing more to say really... Inexperienced Power Up How to do it = [L2] + Up + Circle Cost – 3 blast stock Here’s an interesting one! Super Trunks 2 goes straight into max Power Mode, with all the stat upgrades. Seeing that Trunks is now in Max Power mode, use his Ultimate Blast! It saves time, because Super Trunks 2’s speed is so frikkin’ slow. He powers up into Max Power mode very slowly so use this if you’re just itching to use his Ultimate Blast. BUT BE WARNED! If you use this, then (unless you’re very good at this game) be sure that his Ultimate Blast is gonna kill the opponent as when the effect of the Blast 1 move wears off, Trunks’ ki charging speed will be drastically lowered. Remember this before using the Inexperienced Power Up move. The stat upgrades are as follows; Fist = Strength increase Lightning = Blast moves do more damage Armor = Defence increase Cloud = Makes you fly faster You also get to do another Dragon Homing attack. Blast 2 moves! Finish Buster How to do it = [L2] + Triangle Ki Cost – 4 ki gauges The Finish Buster returns, only this time its one of Trunks’ Blast 2 moves and it’s chargeable. Trunks raises his arms into the air and forms a big yellow energy sphere. He then launches this at the opponent. Being chargeable, the damage will vary depending on how much, or how little you charged it. Let’s take a look shall we? Non charged it will do 4200 damage Half charged it should do around 9000 damage Fully charged it will do 12180 damage If you’re going to fully charge it, then it will take 2 seconds. Burning Attack How to do it = [L2] + Up + Triangle Ki Cost – 4 ki gauges The Burning Attack is also back. Hey rhyme! Like the last time, it isn’t chargeable and is launched at the same speed Base Trunks and SSJ Trunks launched it. With USSJ2 Trunks’ speed slowing him down drastically, it was nice of Spike to give him an instant Blast 2 move. The Burning Attack will now do 10,000 damage. It is much more powerful than... wait a minute... it’s WEAKER than Base Trunks and SSJ Trunks’ Burning Attacks! That’s right, Base Trunks’ Burning Attack did 11,000 damage and SSJ Trunks’ Burning Attack did 11,800 damage. It even costs more ki than the others. What a rip off! It’s Ultimate Blast time now; Super Explosive Wave How to do it = Power up into Max Power mode and then press [L2] + Down + Triangle Ki Cost – 5 ki gauges Super Explosive Wave. I know. A few characters (such as SSJ3 Goku and Oozaru Nappa) have this as a Blast 2 move. “It’s over!” shouts the bulky Super Saiyan and he releases a massive... um... explosive wave! This will do 5 hits on the opponent and will cause 12,500 damage. If however you used Inexperienced Power Up, before using this then it will do 13,000 damage. It’s only 500 more damage though, so remember that. Also remember to use this only when an opponent is near you. Otherwise Trunks will have lost all his ki for nothing. ------------------- VII) How to use Future Trunks (fighter) Hmmm, let’s see here. He has 3 forms, so use whichever form you like the best. Most Tenkaichi 2 players like his SSJ form the most, including myself. In a match, I personally start out in Base form and then after doing some good damage, I’ll crank it up to SSJ. As far as I’m concerned USSJ2 Trunks doesn’t exist in this game. He has to be my least favorite Super Saiyan form to use. If you absolutely love USSJ2 Trunks and really want to use him, but also don’t want to lose the match, then I would recommend that (unless you’re pretty good at the game) you save him for the last opponent at least (if you’re doing a 1 vs 5 battle like I do). I recommend that you spend the majority of the fight in SSJ mode though. SSJ Fighting Trunks is fast, strong and he can increase his already great strength with the Finish Sign move. Only use USSJ2 Trunks if you really know what you’re doing... or if the difficulty is below normal. ------------------- VIII) Vs quotes Have Ultimate Gohan fight the following people to trigger some unique intro’s and win quotes; Kid Gohan Gohan Teen Gohan Great Saiyaman Mystic Gohan Tien Base Vegeta (Android Saga) Super Vegeta Vegeta (Buu Saga) Kid Trunks Majin Vegeta Cell (First form) Perfect Cell Super Perfect Cell Turles Android 13 Super Android 13 Tapion Pan Trunks – Wait, are you really Gohan? In SSJ form, he shoots 6 ki blasts and in USSJ2 form however, he is able to shoot 9 ki blasts in 3 groups of 3. Be warned however, that his aim will now be incredibly off. For his taunts; Base Trunks – Stretches and says “You’re finished already!” SSJ Trunks – Signals for his opponent to come at him and says “What’s wrong?” USSJ2 Trunks – Cracks his knuckles and again says “What’s wrong?” (Press [L1] + Up to make Trunks taunt.) For his throw, Trunks grabs his opponent and punches them hard, he then punches them several more times before knocking them away from him. His throw is the same for all forms. All Trunks forms have 3 Blast Stock. Notice how Ultra Super Saiyan 2 Trunks has lost his brick wall effect from Budokai Tenkaichi 1. ------------------- X) Frequently asked questions Q) Is this your favorite Trunks to use? A) Yep, it always starts out with Sword Trunks being my favorite character though... Q) What is your favorite form of THIS Trunks? A) Definitely Super Saiyan. He’s a beast! Q) What about Sword Trunks, or Kid Trunks? Are you going to do an FAQ for those two? A) Maaaaaaaaaaybe! Q) Did Trunks ever reach SSJ2? A) We never see him as an SSJ2, but I think he’d be able to obtain that transformation. Future Trunks, unlike Kid Trunks, is not a slacker. Q) Eh? But he has SSJ2 in Budokai 2 and 3! A) Trunks having SSJ2 in Budokai 2 and 3... just think of it as a nice little what if transformation for Trunks. Future Trunks only obtained these forms; Super Saiyan Ultra Super Saiyan / Super Saiyan second grade / Super Trunks Ultra Super Saiyan 2 / Super Saiyan third grade / Super Trunks 2 While Trunks got more and more out of the first Super Saiyan stage, he never actually went Super Saiyan 2. Budokai 1 was accurate with his transformations, as he did not have SSJ2, but he did have his Super Trunks forms. While we never see him go SSJ2, it’s probable that he would have gained the form sooner or later. Q) What is this Trunks’ alternate costume? A) You know, I’ve got a bad habit of writing FAQ’s for characters with crappy alternate costumes! For his second “costume”, the blue part of Trunks outfit is black. That’s it. Nothing more. Let’s hope that in Budokai Tenkaichi 3 we get one or more of the following costumes for Fighter Trunks; Same costume only with Short hair Bojack Movie costume (Jacket with sleeves ripped off) Purple jacket (with sleeves intact) Jacketless Trunks Oddly enough, take a look at the title screen for this game (the screen with Goku and Vegeta at the front, Bebi Oozaru at the back, etc) Trunks is wearing this outfit only with short hair! Q) How do I unlock this Trunks and his forms? A) You already start out with this Trunks! To unlock his SSJ form, beat chapter 12 - Cell's Perfect Body. You’ll also get the super Vegeta form from this chapter. To unlock his USSJ2 form, beat chapter 15 - Perfect Body. Easy right? Well then do it! Q) Did Future Trunks ever return to the past again? A) Well, if he did, then we are never shown it. The only other time we see Future Trunks with the Z fighters (after Cell’s defeat) was in movie 9 – Bojack Unbound. However, its not really made clear if he participated in this tournament before leaving the group, or if he did indeed return to the past, and then fought in the tournament. Q) How much do you like Future Trunks? A) He’s a fantastic character. I took a liking to him ever since I first saw him slice down Frieza. He’s my third favorite character behind Goku and Vegeta. As for this game, I use him almost every single time I play it. He might even be... dare I say it? My favorite character to use in Budokai Tenkaichi 2... Q) Does USSJ2 Trunks move really slowly when he’s flying around on the world map? A) Nope, on the world map, USSJ2 moves at the same speed as any other character. Every character shares the same speed on the world map. Q) *Forms a Final Flash* A) You’re going to destroy the whole planet, FATHEEEEEEEEEEER!!!! You’ve got to STEPET!! ------------------- XI) The Future Trunks password section In this section of the FAQ, I’ll be posting up a few password Fighter Trunks’. More may be added in a future update. Also, if you want to send me a Fighting Trunks password, then by all means do so and I’ll include it in my guide! Just remember to put your name with the password! Send me as many passwords as you want. The more the merrier! To start you off, there’s a Level 160 Trunks with Halo. The rest are unique ones. Many people know how to do this already, but if you don’t then here you go! Okay, equip a [Blast1 +19] Z-Item on Trunks, to make his Blast Stock fill up faster. Also, be sure to equip the [Halo] Z-Item on him. Okay, now, in a battle (whilst in base form), fly all the way up to the top of the screen (A.K.A. the flying limit). Make sure the opponent is at the same height you are. Have Base Trunks perform his High Speed Rush move and as soon as the opponent is knocked away, press the (R3) button to transform into Super Saiyan Trunks. As soon as you’ve transformed, use the High Power Rush. As soon as the High Power Rush ends, revert back to base Trunks (done by pressing the Down button and the (R3) button together). As soon as Super Saiyan Trunks has reverted back to base form, use his High Speed Rush move again and so on. Here’s an easier to read version, done in bullet points; - Equip [Blast 1 +19] Z-Item onto Trunks - Equip the [Halo] Z-Item onto Trunks - In the battle, get a full 5 bars of ki (Not Max Power mode) - Now get 3 full Blast Stocks - Fly up into the sky as far as you can go and make sure that the opponent is at the same height as you - Use Base Trunks’ High Speed Rush move - AS SOON AS it’s finished, tap the (R3) button to transform - STRAIGHT AFTER TRANSFORMING, do the High Power Rush move - As soon as that rush is over, de-transform back to base Trunks (done by pressing the Down button and the (R3) button together) - As soon as Trunks has de-transformed, use the High Speed Rush move again - Rinse and repeat If you’re doing this correctly, then Trunks should keep on doing his rush moves on the opponent with NO recovery time! Watch that combo number rise! And that as they say, is that! ------------------- XII) Special thanks - Akira Toriyama San for creating DBZ. I love you man! - Toei for animating DBZ and adding all the wonderful filler. - Future Trunks for being such a great character and for being the inspiration for this guide. - You for reading this guide.
