I had no idea that would be so successful(I'm still getting e-mails about it, although I do not update that guide(or have the game) anymore) so I decided to throw my hat in the ring again. The game this time is Dark Cloud 2, and instead of a walkthrough for this, since there is already alot of them out there now, I'll do a complete side quests/secrets faq. Now if you notice something is missing, e-mail me with it if you know it, or ask me about it, and I'll try my best to find out. Also e-mail me with any questions you might add so I can add it to the FAQ part, but please lable your e-mails with either DC2 Question, or DC2 Submission. Otherwise your E-mail will be deleted. E-mail address is Steveuo_die@yahoo.com. Don't feel bad if you get no responce, but check the faq if you've asked a question, because most likley it will be added there the next update. ***Warning*** THIS IS NOT A SPOILER FREE FAQ _______________________________________________________________________________ IV-FAQ Q.I threw a capsule at a monster with the 3 items it wants, but I didn't get the badge!! What do I do? A.Well there are a few things, first, make sure you actually hit the monster with it, the items won't bounce, they will just disapear if they miss the monster. Look for a little music note sign above its head(like the one you get after feeding a fish)and if its not there after you throw it, then you missed, if it is then kill it. I don't know if this makes a difference but I always use Monica to throw it, and then kill the monster afterwards, you could try that and see if that makes any difference. And finally go into characters, then monsters, and check and see if you already have the badge, the notice for getting the badge is small, a little line on the bottom of the screen, and if the monster dropped an item too, the badge might have been pushed off screen sooner and you didn't get a chance to read it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q.What is the password you need to enter to fight the final boss. A.Sirus ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q.How do I get 100% in Sidain?! A.The two missing conditions are "Someone must live in a straw house." "There must be 15 units of fencing around the firbit's house." Do them, and you'll get 100% _______________________________________________________________________________ V-POWER UP ITEM LOCATIONS The worste secrets in a game are the ones that you need in order to survive and advance in the game. This is one of them. In Dark Cloud 2, you do not gain hp or defence or stats like in other rpgs, you must search around for tiny chests hidden around the world. The chests spawn in the future, depending on the amount of georama you've completed, with the exceptions of Chapter 2, 7 and 8. Note that if it skips from say 50% to 100% then there is nothing that comes at 60%,70%, 80% and 90%, so you can build strait from 50-90%. Also note that the max stats after a chapter aren't definate, I am splitting the fruits of Eden up, you do not have to do this. Note also that you don't have to do the conditions in this order. I'm pretty sure the boxes pop up depending on the actual percent completeted of the future, not specifically for each condition, this is just the way I did them(the way I found the easiest), you can do them any way you want. ***IMPORTANT NOTE***Certain boxes can be lost if you just go strait to 100%, if 2 boxes both pop up in the same place(one at 10%, one at 60% for example) and you fufil the Analysis to 60 right away and go there, there will be only one box there, but the game will register it as both boxes being placed, and you will lose it forever! It is because of this that I advice you to do the georama conditions in the order that I list them, since it is the easiest way and so you don't lose out on any power ups.(this is NOT confirmed, in fact I'm leaning against it being true.*** ***ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE*** a reader has apparently cracked a conspiracy of missing boxes... thanks to Rick Wyatt.. Found the deal: You have to reveal the conditions for the boxes to pop (i.e. they can't be ?????) so even if you get to 55% if the conditions are not shown the box doesn't appear. This makes it tied to progress through the dungeon since you have to do dungeon levels (and get geostones) to reveal the conditions. I have not confirmed this yet, but it seems likley with all the e-mails I've been getting saying that boxes have not poped for them.***** _______________________________________________________________________________ Chapter 1 --------- This is one of the chapter's when georama percentage doesn't determine when the boxes appear, this is because obviouslly, there are no georama in here. They appear after you beat a certain level. There are a total of 3 boxes here. After Ghost in the channel level --------------------------------- Fruit of Eden-Channel entrance near donny, hidden under the edge of the telescope. Max stats for end of Chapter 1 Max: HP:48 DEF:08 Chapter 2 ---------- This is how its going to be for quite some time, fufil the georama to a certain extent and you will make them appear in the future...the bad thing is, you can't build or go to the future till after you get the fishing rod, so you'll have to do with what you got from chapter 1 for Max, and Monica's starting stats until then. Max stats for end of Chapter 3 ------------------------------- ???? ???? (Thanks to a number of people that have informed me that I did in fact miss a fruit of Eden(i had thought i missed a witch parfait, though others have said that I wrote a wp instead of a fruit of eden.. this chapter is very odd, and i'm not sure what i did or didn't miss, but people have sent in that thier max stats at end of chapter 3 were either hp 96/96 def 32/28 or hp 88/88 defence 32/32...so i'm not sure how to take it...) Max Stats after Chapter 4 -------------------------- Max: HP:120 DEF:44 Monica: HP:120 DEF:44 Chapter 5 ---------- This place is big, the biggest future city there is, it is also the hardest to find the boxes(which is why it took me so long to finish the list for it). The first floor is a circle, the second and third are like big U's. There is an outer wall, with fence in the first floor near where you come in, and buildings with creveses or pockets or whatever you want to call them, where buildings and elevators are going to go. There is also an inner fence, making sure you don't fall off and go into the city below. Georama 5%(Condition 1) ----------------------- Fruit of Eden-Outer Fence. Witch Parfait-(2nd floor) Outer wall near tool shop. Max stats for end of Chaper 6 ------------------------------ Max: HP:192 DEF:80 Monica: HP:192 DEF:80 Chapter 7 ---------- This place is quite small, which makes the boxes easy to locate. This one is a little odd, there is a georama, but that doesn't determine when the boxes appear, they appear after each level beaten, excluding a few ones. There is also a pattern of where they pop, and what is in them. There are 6 different patterns, in order. 1-On the first floor it starts with the pillar left of coming in, then goes to the right pillar, then continues right to the paintings, one by each of the four flower pots. 2-On the first floor it starts with the left flower pot, and continues upwards through the other 3 flower pots. 3-On the second floor, starts with the leftmost flower pot and moves to the one close to the door. 4-On the second floor, starts with the rightmost flower pot and moves to the one close to the door. 5-On the first floor, one will appear at the two flower pots on each side of the stairs. 6-On the first floor, one will appear at opposite sides on the back of the stairs. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter which levels you beat first, they will always appear in this pattern, and the contents of the chests will always be the same, but for the sake of the guide(and since you have to get the flower anyway to put it in the vase in Alexandra's room)lets go to the Sun path before the Moon path. Note: The treasure on the right appears after you beat the level on the left. Ancient Wind: Fruit of Eden-At pillar by door(This begins the 1st pattern). Card Warriors Gather: Potato Pie-At pillar by door. Dangerous Treasure: Fruit of Eden-Flower pot by painting. Zombie Zone: Nothing. (Sun Path) Feeling out of place: Witch Parfait-Flower pot by painting. Living Statue: Fruit of Eden-Flower pot by painting. Danger Zone: Potato Pie-Flower pot by painting. Scary Women: Fruit of Eden-Flower pot by painting.(This begins the 2nd pattern). Hell Elephant: Witch Parfait-Flower pot by painting. Crush the Undead: Fruit of Eden-Flower pot by painting. (Moon Path) Missing Gem Dealer: Potato Pie-Flower pot by painting. Max's Longest Day:Fruit of Eden-Flower pot by painting(This begins the 3rd pattern). Hell's Corridor: Witch Parfait-Flower pot by painting. Monica All Alone: Fruit of Eden-Flower pot by painting. Raging Spirits: Nothing. Lonely Machine: Potato Pie-Flower pot by painting. Nobility: Fruit of Eden-Flower pot by painting(This begins the 4th pattern). Palace Watchdog: Witch Parfait-Flower pot by painting. Road to Memories: Fruit of Eden-Flower pot by painting. Final Trump Card: Potato Pie-Flower pot by painting. Elemental Party: Fruit of Eden-Flower pot by stairs(This begins the 5th pattern). Wandering Knight's Soul: Witch Parfait-Flower pot by stairs. Beware Carelessness: Potato Pie-Behind stairs(This begins the 6th pattern). Final Battle: Witch Parfait-Behind stairs Max stats for end of Chapter 7 ------------------------------- Max: HP:232 DEF:104 Monica: HP:232 DEF:104 Chapter 8 ---------- The only place to get any in this chapter is from Spheda(I think). There are a total of 2 Fruits of Eden, 2 Potato Pies, and 2 Witch Parfaits there, which makes the max total for stats in the game... Max: HP:240 DEF:112 Monica: HP:240 DEF:112 Note:If you want to know which levels have the powerups, look at the Spheda section. _______________________________________________________________________________ VI-FISHING Fishing is one of the easier, but time consuming side quests. You'll need it to get medals in certain levels, as well as some really rare items in contests, covered below. (Thanks alot to my friend Ryan for alot of this information!!) _______________________________________________________________________________ A.INTRO First thing's first, you gotta know what your doing before you do it. You'll start off with a rod, with some really remenial stats. What do these stats mean do you ask? Flight - Determines how far your lure can go. Not really that usefull, but it does determine how big the fish you get are. Strength - This is necessary to reel in big fish. Makes the little number bar move in faster. This will also determine how big fish you catch are. Resilience - Its like defence, but for your rod(that sounds so dirty) it determines how fast your line will break...the more you have, the slower the bar on your right will rise. Surprisingly this does not effect the size of the fish you catch, but it is usefull so that your not reeling in a fish for a half hour, and for another reason to be explained shortly. Grip - noone really knows what this does, there are a few rumors. That it makes fish bite faster, that it makes you feel the rumbling faster, that it helps luck or strength or resilience, but who knows. All I know is i dont mind having a 1 in this stat too much. Luck - The most important skill regarding anything, luck helps out with everything, and will determine how big the fish you get are. Alright now that you know this, you can make a basic plan on what you want to raise. You'll need 100 fishing points to raise a stat by 1, and each fish you catch will give you fishing points(or FP). B.BAIT There are many different kind of bait, in the beginning you'll probably only get them from chests or monsters, but as the game goes on, you can buy them, first chance you'll get to buy them is probably in the future of chapter 2, one of those guys sells it, I think its the one up the ladder. The next is when you recruit Fabio, who's at Palm Brick lake. There is alot of bait, but here are the ones you can buy.Battan, Carrot, Evy, Mimi, Minion, Petite fish, Potatoe Cake and Prickly. You can use some other items as well, like the poison apple and a few others that I'm not sure of. Different fish like different bait. Now beside's bait there are lure's, I don't know much about lures, since I never used the rod, but when you unlock the fish races, and recruit the girl who wants you to win, she sells them, and you can buy the frog, fork, minnow and spinner, as well as the actual lure rod to use them,(yes thats right you'll have to level up an entirely new rod, now you know why i didn't do it...yet) For more detail on the lure rod and lures check out diabloDAB's fishing faq here on gamefaqs. C. THE FISH Here is a list of all the fish in the game, and the best bait to use to catch them. Baku Baku - Petite Fish, Spinner, Frog, Minnow Baron Garayan - Fork Bobo - Prickly, Evy Bon - Potatoe Cake, Minion, Battan, Petite Fish Den - Minion, Battan, Petite Fish Gobbler - Petite Fish, Potatoe Cake, Minion, Battan Gummy - Prickly, Mini, Potatoe cake, Minion, Battan Hamma Hamma - Petite Fish, Minnow Heela - Mini Kaji - Evy, Petite Fish, Minnow Mardan Garayan - Poison Apple Neegie - Spinner, Minnow Niler - Prickly, Mimi, Evy, Minion, Battan, Petite fish Nonky - Prickly, Mimi, Potatoe cake, Minion, Battan Piccoly - Mini Priscleen - Mini Tarton - Prickly, Evy, Minion, Battan Umadakara - Carrot D.CATCHING FISH Now that you know which fish like which bait, its time to know where to find the fish you want. I.Firbits Fishing Hole ----------------------- This is where you first get your fishing pole. Either side of the screen are two lakes. In here you can catch: Priscleen Nonky Baku baku Negie II.King Marden Swamp --------------------- The same area as before, but this is where you catch that huge...wierd... fish to advance the story. Baku Baku Marden Garien Gumi Negie III.Palm Brick Lake -------------------- This place is unlocked when you first enter chapter 2. Go across the bridge, then to the left and follow the path, you can't miss it. Nonky Baku baku Gummy Tarton Piccoly IV.Palm brick river -------------------- Its that watery substance you used the bridge to cross over. Gobbler Den Heela V.Near Withered Jurak in Sidain ------------------------------- All the way in the back...near Withered Jurak. Gummy Niler Piccoly Negie VI.Venicco ---------- The ocean!! Just walk out off into where you can build and you'll be able to fish. Bobo Kaji Tarton Bon Hama Hama VII.Murada Springs ------------------ Two people pointed out to me that these are the hot springs in heim rada. Thanks to ObIivionsCali@aol.com and "J moore"(who also points out that the only time you can catch a Baron garayan is in the evening hours.) Priscleen Den Baron garayan VIII.Balance valley station ---------------------------- Yes! There is water there. Nonky Tarton Hella IX.Rainbow Butterfly Wood -------------------------- Any floor in the Rainbow Butterfly Wood.(Not including the event and boss floors) Priscleen Gobler Gummy Niler XII.Lower Starlight canyon --------------------------- Any level of the dungeon after Yorda's Valley. Baku Baku Gummy Niler Umadakara, piccoly XIII.Ocean roar Cave ---------------- Pretty much any floor in the dungeon Bobo Kaji Tarton Bon Hama Hama XIV.Cave of ancient murals --------------------------- Pretty self explanitory Mardon garayan Tarton Den Heeler XV.Heim Rada Spring ------------------- Its the only water in Heim Rada Priscleen Mardan garayan Gummy Megie E.FISHING CONTEST This gets unlocked towards the end of chapter 3. Basically you take up to 10 fish to Palm Bricks, they weigh it, and the one with the most weight out of the top three fish you weigh. Note that you will lose the fish you weigh after the contest, and you cannot use any fish that you've been raising. Prizes ------ The prizes are random except for the first time you win, which you'll get the Lure rod. 1st place ---------- Lure rod Flamingo Revive powder Moon stone Emerald Diamond Dark coin Sun stone Poison coin Missle pod arm II 2nd place ---------- Wind crystals Hunter crystals Escape powder Improved bomb Silver ball Power crystal Experience coin Saphire Bulls-eye coin, Moon stone 3rd place ---------- Holy crystals Destruction crystals Hunk of copper Garnet Peridot Saphire Diamond F. FISHING FRENZIE This gets unlocked towards the end of chapter 4. Basically you just feed or mate your fish and race them with other fish. How good you do in the race is determined by.... Stats ----- Strength-Determines how hard you hit other fish. Endurance - Determines how well you take hits from other fish. Boost - How fast your fish are. Stamina - How long you can swim fast. Tenacity - ??not sure?? Something to do with fighting Now to raise your skills you need to feed them bait. Each bait does something. Minion/Carrot - Raise boost. Carrot changes sex of the fish as well. Prickly/Batton - Raise Tenacity. Petite Fish/Mimi - Raise Endurance. Evy/Potatoe Cake - Raise Stamina. Potatoe Cake lowers weight as well. Now to raise Strength you have to put two or more fish into the battle tank, and in a LONG while itll raise, while your out exploring dungeons or what not. Make sure that they are both the same type of fish, or they will kill each other. The best thing to do, if you want to win, is just max out the Boost, Stamina and Endurance, since that determines how fast and how long you'll be able to go that fast, and prepares you just incase anyone hits you at the beginning of the race. Since your maxed out with all those stats, you won't have to worry about fighting the other fish(ergo no need for strength or tenacity) because you'll be too far ahead of everyone to care. Prizes ------ Again these prizes are random, except for the first time you win. This time there are four difficulty levels for your fish, and you can only win each one (except the master) once with each fish. (Note:This may not be a complete list) Beginner -------- 1st --- Mardan sword Gold bar Plum rice ball 2nd --- Destruction crystals Lvl up powder Premium chicken 3rd ---- Protector crystals Plum rice ball Soap Junior ------ 1st ---- Garayan sword Aquamarine Sea dragon crystals 2nd --- Mighty healing Seal breaking scroll 3rd ---- Lightning crystals Chopper Chill crystals Senior ------ 1st ---- Mardan Garayan sword Diamond Power crystals 2nd ---- Drain seeker Wealth coin Bandit coin 3rd ---- Kitchen knife Time coin Bulls-eye coin Master ------ 1st --- Sun stone Diamond Final bomb x2 2nd ---- Moon stone Wealth coin Ride pod fuel 3rd ---- Diamond Time coin Seal breaking scroll _______________________________________________________________________________ VII-SPHEDA Ahh Spheda, the game of the future...apparently frustration is really big 100 yearsfrom now. _______________________________________________________________________________ A.THE BASICS Spheda is basically a golf type game. You have to hit the ball into a distortion shaped hole. There is a meter on the bottom which determines how hard you are going to hit it, and on the way back you have to get it in a small space to determine if you'll actually be able to hit it, or mess up the shot (the yellow mark in the dead center means a perfect shot if you didn't know) totally. B.THE TOOLS Well you can't touch the ball directly(don't ask why...you'll piss off the developers)so you'll need Spheda clubs. There are 5 Clubs all together, and a few ways to get them, but only one good club that you'll be using pretty much all the time once you get it. The Swan --------- Spheda Club, good for medium range. How to get: Automatic, Make (Tree/Boat/Tiny Hammer), Chests(Random), Stores This is the club you'll get once you learn of Spheda. It has a pretty big range so that you won't mess up alot of your shots when you begin, but don't even think of using the Frontspin or Backspin. The Flamingo ------------ Spheda Club, good for medium range and turns. How to get: Make(Palm Tree/Light of Luna Stone/Tiny Hammer), Built up(From Swan or Turkey),Chests(Random), Stores There isn't much noticable difference between the Swan and Flamingo, except the range goes down, giving you less room to mess up. The Falcon ---------- Spheda Club, good for long range. How to get:Make(Withered Jurak/Hammer/Large Crane), Built up(From Flamingo), Chests(rand.)Stores Again there isn't much noticable difference between the swan flamingo or falcon, but now this one has even less chance for error. The Albatros ------------ Spheda Club, good for long range and turns. How to get:Make(Fire Squall/Geyser/Tree),Built up(From Falcon), Chests(rand.), Stores You saw this coming didn't you? Again the only noticable difference from the previous three is you now have NO room for error, you have to get it exactly on the little yellow marker, or your shot will be screwed up. What a waste of... whatever was used for you to get this huh? The Turkey ---------- Spheda Putter, good for short range. How to get:Make(Tree/Special Peking Duck/Windmill Feather) Chests(rand.) Stores? Note:One of our readers informed me that you can buy the club right at the beginning of chapter four, from Gerald, so you do not have to wait to get the georama piece. Thanks jmcartwr@artsci.wustl.edu! Note:Another way to get the Turkey(and very soon in the game as well) comes from "Angel": I just wanted to add a bit of information. The turkey can be given to you during the part where you learn spheda. The way to get it is simple. You have about 10 chances of 3 shots to shoot the fragment into the time distortment. However, if you fail, Monica will take over and knock it in. Instead of the swan, you get the turkey when the scene is through. I haven't tried this myself but thanks for the info! This is where its at!! Make this as soon as possible!!(Chapter 4) Tree you can get anywhere, Special peking duck is found in chapter 3, in the future in the food store, and windmill feather is the part of the windmil georama piece in chapter 4. In fact don't even wait till chapter 4, find someone who owns the game and steal his memory card with the windmill feather in the photo album. This is the one club you'll need, and it will save you hours of frustration. Don't be fooled by its description, its not a putter, in fact it does long shots just about as good as the Falcon and lower.(not sure about the albatros, since most of my shots with that were messed up I couldn't make an accurate mesurement)The noticable difference is that now you can actually use the backspin, and it won't go flying around the course. This is great in most every place to play(with maybe the exception of chapter 7, though I still use this one and do fine)because you can pull back on the analog and give it half power with backspin, and when the ball lands, it will barley move an inch to the front or back, this is great because of all the out of bounds that you will now avoid! C.TIPS BY CHAPTER First some general tips. -If you have one shot left, always move the ball(by pressing square) if it means a better shot, with only one shot left, it won't take a penalty point away. -If you are in a strait away to the goal, but your ball is the same color, hitting a wall isn't always the best option, they are unpredictable, only do that if you are very very close. Otherwise take note of what the power shot will be, with the direction pulled all the way up, try and hit it just a little less of your distance remaining, with a topspin, the ball will land and change color, then bounce forward fast into the sphere. -Try not to move the ball unless you absolutly have to, or if you know you have shots to spare. Mess ups can come unexpectadly, and can cost you precious turns. -If you fail enough times, and re enter the same stage you will get an easy shot that a 10 year old child could get in. Just try not to go crazy waiting for that easy shot. Chapter 1 --------- Ok! Time to start playing Spheda, chapter 1 seems a reasonable place to start right? WRONG. This is arguably one of the most hardest chapters for spheda. Just be glad there are only 5 episodes to the chapter. Now you'll notice as you're clearing the floor that there is water almost everywhere, on the edges, this is out of bounds, and that ball almost seems magnetically attracted to that water. Now this is where the Turkey comes in.(if you don't have it, then get it, come back when you have it, and save yourself some aggrivation) Depending on where they put you, pull it back so that itll go up, but not too far that itll hit the ceiling(if the ball hits the ceiling or a wall the backspin will be messed up.)and try and mesure how much it will be from where you are to where you need to be(most likley a tunnel) and do it, probably over 3/4ths of my shots in here turned out more or less half power. The backspin will make sure it doesn't roll off into the water, and you'll probably be in a tunnel, measure again and repeat. With the Turkey you shouldn't have too much trouble(with spheda you always have SOME troble) Chapter 2 --------- I don't like this chapter mainly for one reason, getting it into the distortion is 3 parts luck, 1 part skill, unlike the other chapters, which is probably either 3 parts skill 1 part luck, or 2 points for each of em. This is because most likley you'll get a ball on one side of the level, and the distortion on another. This is because there are no wall blocks in here, you can hit the ball right over the hedges and through the trees. This is cause for alot of out of bounds, obviously, since if you can't get it to go through the trees and come out on another part of the actual road, then you can't hit it. Backspin isn't really worth it here because you might end up hitting a tree and have it go flying. The best thing I can tell you is try and see as far away as you can if you have to hit it through the trees for a long distance, and hope for the best. Most of the time though you'll want to try at least to lob it from one road to another, like this. rrxrrrrrr ooooooooooo rrurrrr This amazingly accurate diagram represents R for road, o for out of bounds, u for you, and x marks the spot, just lob it through the trees, and with backspin hopefully it shouldn't bounce off course too far. Chapter 3 --------- Another very hard one, this one to me was the hardest of the three, mostly because of how many there are, another reason because they almost always seem to make it halfway across the board from each other, and thirdly because of the walls. See in chapter 2 at least you could wack it over trees and hope for the best, in this one you can't, because you have big mountain walls. Here's another diagram. oooooooooo orrrrrrrrX ormmmmmmmm orm orm orm ormmmmmmmm orrrrrrrrU oooooooooo See r again is road,U is you, M is mountain,o is out of bounds and X marks the spot. Instead of in chapter 2where you could just lob it up, going in a strait line from U->X would mean hitting the wall and fallingoff the cliff. So you'd have to do this, taking three(very precise) shots instead of one. oooooooooo o^-------X o|mmmmmmmm o|m o|m o|m o|mmmmmmmm o<-------U oooooooooo Hopefully you have the Turkey and you can pull back/push down with backspin at about half power and have enough turns to make it. Best thing I can tell you with this is go very slow, short hits, they will usually give you a large amount of turns, and just hitting at full power will get you an out of bounds. Chapter 4 --------- Finally a break!! Chapters 1-3 were horrible(if you did it before you got the turkey anway) and now they give you a break. Chapter 4 is the second easiest floor there is, besides chapter 7. The only problem is that the makers of the game knew this and only make 3-4 episodes with spheda on it! Don't ever say that getting medals is easy. Now, in here there are almost no out of bounds, only little waterfall type things that show up rarely. The floor is covered in water, so even without backspin the ball will barley bounce, and they usually give you enough hits to get you there with 2-5 to spare. There isn't much to say about this one, you should have been playing spheda long enough for this to be a cake walk. Enjoy your break...it won't last long. Chapter 5 --------- Welcome back to the party friends. This IS the hardest chapter when it comes to Spheda. Remember the sewers and the water? Well now the tunnels have cliffs that lead down to lava, and are jagged, and are in alot further then the water was in the sewers, also in the sewers you had a slight chance of the ball bouncing out of the water back on track, here you dont. Add tight walls, low cavern ceilings, and big stalactites and stalagmites comeing down from the ceiling and the floor, and your in spheda hell. Your luck on this level ends once the ball is places, because once it is, and if you can't make it in one or two easy shots then your going to need some skill. The tunnels are very narrow, and you have the added bonus of it going down into the tunnel...hmm I sense another incredibly accurate diagram! CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC aaaaaaTTtttttttttt aaaaaaTTtttaaasaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Ufffffaaaaaaaaaaaa ffaaaaaaaaaa fffffffffffX Ok let me try and explain before you tar and feather me C is ceiling, a is air, t is top of tunnel, f is floor, u is you, x marks the spot and s are those annoying stalactites. See when you go into a floor now it'll sink down, leaving hardl yany room for you to shoot through into it, at least at any kind of accuracy, which is bad since most every shot you can take goes at an upward angle. Best thing I can tell you about that is if your close you should be able to hit it at a nice pace, but it will probably hit against the ceiling,so its best to tap it in and hit it far in the next turn rather then most likley waste a turn. If your far away, try pulling the distance up, and using backspin again use about half power and hope that it doesn't rolloff the edge, or you hit one of the jagged edges of it.(note:this place becomes significantly harder after the boss fight, and you enter the actual volcano) Keep at it, you're almost done! Chapter 6 --------- There is nothing new here. Only spheda on this floor will be things you've already done. Just refer back up if you are really having alot of trouble, but by now you should have this spheda thing down, and it just gets easier. Chapter 7 --------- Let the good times roll. This is without a doubt the easiest spheda chapter in the game(rivaled possibly only by chapter 4) they are giving you another break, or just possibly they didn't feel it was neccessary to make you so angry at spheda at chapter 7 when you already have gotten enough medals for 2 outfits. (if you have been collecting that is.) Either way this place has no out of bounds, endless straitaways, and give you plenty of turns. If you've gotten all the medals from chapters 1-6 in spheda, then you don't need any advice or any bad looking diagrams that you can see in real life by turning your head to the TV. Just play, have fun with spheda for once in the game. In this section you'll get some tips on how to do it. _______________________________________________________________________________ A.WHY DO/DON'T DO IT Ok so you're probably thinking that these medals will get you some of the best equipment and items in the game if you collect enough of them. Sadly you are wrong, when you recruit Mayor Need he will have an exchange medals command. Here is where you put your hard work into use. The thing is the only thing you can get with the medals are clothes, and a name change ticket, allowing you to change the name of one of your weapons, and each piece costs at least 40 medals. So why do it? If you've been reading the message boards then you probably know that one of the outfits you can buy for Monica is a bikini. Her other is a princess dress(the one you see her wearing at the beginning)while Max has only one costume you can buy, the clown outfit. Another reason to get them is if you want to do everything the game has to offer, make your money worth it ect. I'm not sure if you get something special if you get every single medal,(I'm working on it)but once I do you'll know. So whats the reason's not to do it? Extreme frustration, alot of time spent to prepare for some of them, alot of money spent to prepare for some of em. But of course if you love a challenge then read on. B.TIME LIMIT The one medal requirment that is on every single episode of this game is the time limit. Most of these are extremely easy once you get to a certain part of the game, excluding maybe one or two chapters. Basically you just have to defeat every monster in the floor within a certain amount of time. This is easy if you wait a few chapters ahead to do it, since by then you're weapon will be strong enough to kill the person in one or two hits. One thing to remember is to NEVER stick around to collect experience and gold, once the monster is dead, move on to the next one. Also you might want to wait until you can get Pau, who you get at the end of chapter 4. The reason for this is that he will reveal the entire map to you, this helps tremendously because you can plot out a course to go in advanced, which would save alot of time not running into dead ends, or running into a locked door that you don't have the key for yet. The bad thing about this guy is that he lets you know if a chest is a mimic or not. Now you'd think that this is a good thing for speed, but it's not. Instead of having the chest blinking, like the monster who has the gatekey blinks, when you are going to open a chest with a mimic in it a dialog box will pop up saying do you want to open this chest. Now with levels with alot of mimics this is a bad thing, since having to choose will cost you some time, but the presence of the map there the entire time will make up for it. Now you may have noticed I mentioned running into a door you might not have a key too, so you may think that Donny would be a good choice, since he will unlock the doors without needing a key,(I say key but most of the time its a stone, a twig, ect)but this is not a good idea, except for 3 levels. This is because not every level will start with a locked door, in fact its a low percentage of locked doors on most levels. Another reason is that alot of the times when you get a locked door, you'll also have mimic's on the floor, which means you'll have to open all the chests anyway just incase its a possible mimic, and probably get key anyway, making Donny completly useless. Now after you prepare, are able to kill every monster in a chapter within a few hits, and have Pau, every chapter will be very easy to complete time trial, with the exception of one. Three levels in chapter 1 are very hard to do, even when you can kill them in one hit. This is because chapter 1 gives very little time to complete the time trial, and that these three levels have mimics in them, and locked doors alot of the time. These will require alot of luck to do, with the size of the map, whether they'll be a locked door or not, and how many mimic's there are, in what order that you open them. These are the three levels I don't recommend having Pau because those few seconds to click yes to a mimic chest will cost you the medal. Put Donny in his place, just incase you start near the locked door, and also because you wont have to scroll down to find the key if you have it, he'll just unlock it, and that'll cut some seconds off your time. Just hope that there aren't too many mimics, or that its a small level... thats all the advice I can give you. It will take awhile, but you can do it. Now one final note is that with mimics, after chapter 1 you should have no problem getting the time medals if you can kill them in 1-3 hits, have Pau, and dont stick around to pick up exp or gold, even if you open every chest on the level. But if for some reason you don't think you can, or you failed while getting all the chests, remember if you fought a mimic, if you didn't, then no problem, just run through without picking up the chests, and you should be able to do it, unless you get a locked door, this is another example of where Donny might be useful, but since I never had any trouble at all doing these after chapter 1 I think you'll be fine. If there were mimics, even one, the best thing I can tell you is to try again, if you fight any mimics on a level that qualifies as a level that has mimics. The number is always random so its no way to know how many there are,(which means you can't count off how many you killed then ignore the rest of the chests)so if there are mimics on a level, then you'll have to open every chest until you defeat all the monsters. One tip I can give you is if there are a bunch of chests left over, but only a few monsters around that same area, kill the monsters first, this way if the chests aren't mimics you'll get the medal and save some time that you would have taken to open the chests. C.ATTACK AND DEFEAT USING ONLY... This is probably either the second or third most common, probably tied with Spheda. It's also one of the easiest ones to do, most of the time. This isn't just one, but a collection of ones. They include. Attack and defeat all monsters using only Max's right hand weapon. Attack and defeat all monsters using only Max's gun. Attack and defeat all monsters using only Ridepod. Attack and defeat all monsters using only Monica's sword. Attack and defeat all monsters using only Monica's magic. Attack and defeat all monsters using only Monster transformation. Now the only two that you might have a problem with would be ridepod if you haven't been making parts for it, and the monster transformation, since all of the first level monsters are completly useless. To make the ridepod better look at the invention guide here on gamefaqs, that has every ridepod part you can make, and what chapter you can make them at and with what photo's you need. To decide which monster transformation to level up and evolve for monster transformations look at my monster transformation section. Now you may have noticed I left one out... this one is: Attack and defeat all monsters using only Items. I separated these because the others are basically very simple, and easy to do, but kill only with items, is the hardest, and expensive medal task in the game to do, maybe not in the beginning, but once the monsters get stronger, you will have a very hard(costly) time doing this. There are alot of attack items in the game, but the main ones are bombs. You could always use poison apples to poison them and just wait around, but it would take a very long time to do, and the poison will probably wear off before the monster dies. There are also a bunch of elemenatal type throwing items, as well as stones that are non elemental. Look at the monster encyclopedia section of this guide for a list of every monster, including what they are weak against, and where they are found, which will help you in this hard task. Lastly there are other status inflicting items you can throw, turning them to stone, or goo, or stop, these are useless in this section. The only one that might be of some use is the stones/boxes/urns/ect that you find lying around the floor of dungeons, but they are very hard to throw just right at the monster, especially if its flying, even if you're locked on. If you do hit them, it will do some damage, and stun them.(and if its a flying monster make them fall down to the ground) Note:Picking up a monster and throwing them at another monster, DOES NOT COUNT, as using an item(don't ask me)and if you do it, you will mess up your chance at getting the medal, and waste any items that you have already used. There has also been no confirmation whether Monica's absorption sword counts as an item or not, but if you have tried it and know, let me know. Note:Even tho you can make bombs using pictures its always best to go into the floor your about to attempt with max amount of bombs you can hold(40 bomb nuts, 20 bombs, 20 improved bombs, 10 final bombs, 10 lightspeed.)This is because it is alot cheaper to just buy the bombs, and also to make them(especially higher up) you need bombs to make the ones better then that, so its best to keep 20 bombs there incase 20 improved, or 10 final are not enough. First the bombs --------------- Bomb Nut-Bought in future Chapter 2. Max you can hold is 50. Bomb-Bought in Palm brinks. Made with 1x Flame crystal, 5x Gunpowder, 1x Wind crystal(you need Candle+Pot+Weapon shop sign to make this). Max you can hold is 20. Improved bomb-Bought in Palm Brinks, 6 made by Erik, made with 3x Flame crystal, 1x bomb, 3x wind crystal(you need Candle+Coal+Egg to make this). Max you can hold is 20. Final bomb-Bought in Palm Brinks, made with 7x Flame crystal, 10x Bomb, 3x Power crystal(you need Candle+Cinders+Oven to make this). Max you can hold is 10. LightSpeed-Made with 10x Light element, 1x Holy stone, 5x Lightning Crystal(you need Candle+Flower+Rock to make this). Max you can hold is 10. Tips ----- -Don't make the bombs unless you run out in a specific level, they cost cheaper to buy then to make, and for some bombs(final, lightspeed) you'll need rare items to make. Always after beating a level go back to Palm Brinks to restock on bombs. -Herding: The art of bringing one or more monsters to another monster. Herding is important in doing this, more so in later chapters, when you can only hold 10 of a specific bomb. The best way to do this is to lock onto a monster, and move backwards to another monster, once you have two or more monsters, lock on to one of them, holding R1 and blocking lead them to another group of monsters, get them huddled together and use the bomb. Now to the strategy ------------------- Chapter 1, ----------- Use bomb nuts(they are sold in future of chapter 2, you can hold 40 of them) all the time, no need to waste money or any other item, these will do just fine on any monster you find in chapter one. The hard flying monster to worry about here are the bats, they only swoop down right before they attack you, so if you time it right you can throw it as its coming down, and hit him, if you can't do that, then just try and get up some stairs, then throw it down at him. Chapter 2 ---------- You'll have to upgrade to bombs, which will kill, or nearly kill off all the monsters in chapter 2, use the bomb nuts to finish them off, or pick up a rock nearby if you don't want to waste the bomb nuts. The flying monster to worry about here would be the Pixies, let them come down to you, and after they try and hit you throw a bomb at em. Chapter 3 --------- You may want to get good at something I call herding, basically you make a group of monsters follow you around till you get a bigger group, then throw an improved bomb at them and kill them all, see not only the damage goes up with a better bomb but also the range, this is extremly important to do later on when you can only carry 10 of a certain bomb, and there are over 20 or so monsters on a floor. Again you'll be able to use a bomb to nearly kill an ememy in the first level, then use bomb nuts to finish it off, there are a few exceptions, the golems for example, you'll need to use an improved bomb on them, then a bomb or a few bomb nuts to finish it off. Same with the Mimics. But after the first level most everything you'll find will need at least 2 bombs, or one improved bomb to kill, unless you want to use some elemental stones, that I don't recomment using at this point. The flying monster to worry about here are the Cresent Barons, they will fly right back up after they come down and hit you, so try and herd em with something else, and the blast radious should get them, or if they are alone make sure he's about even with you and try and hit him before he flys back up. You should be able to get past each level without having to make any bombs, just make sure to go back to Palm Brinks after every level to restock. After this chapter, bomb nuts will become totally useless. Chapter 4 ---------- In here herding will become more important. Improved bombs will still kill alot of the enemy's, the bomb's only use will be to finish off a monster, since it will take 3 or more to kill an enemy, which is just a waste. The annoying monster to worry about in the first level is the Sand Mole, these people will jump underground right as you throw the bomb it seems. Try and herd them with another monster above ground and he should get hit with the blast radius, even underground. Depending on how good you herded, how many mimic's you got, and how many times you missed with your bombs against the mole's, you shouldn't have to make any improved bombs in the first level(I came out with 3 left), but if you have to, then make only a couple. The second floor isn't much different, you can kill most things with just one improved bomb, but there is introduced 2 annoying monsters into the mix. The Sand Moles are still there, just not as many, and they also added the Hornhead, who'll sometimes come back to life after you kill it, if this happens just use two bombs to kill it again. The other one is not just annoying, its infuriating, the pirate tank, if you see one of these RUN UP TO IT, stay by its side, don't let it move back, because if it does it will shoot out a big cannon ball, and if there are any monsters there it will hit them when it explodes, causing damage, and ruining your chances of getting the medal, with it the thousands of gilda you may have already wasted. As in the first you shouldn't need to make any bombs, but if you have to make only a couple. Chapter 5 ---------- There are alot of em in here, so this will be hard, and costly to get them all. The first floor are mainly Slick Joes and Gundrons, this is hard because the gundrons won't really follow you around, so herding won't work too well here, and because they are all flying monsters, use the same tactics for these as thier weaker counterparts, and herd as many as you can. You can use elemental stones as well, should kill them in one hit, as improved bombs do, and just finish off anyone who survives with a bomb. The next floor some monsters will start to need 2 Improved bombs to kill, and bombs become basically useless unless someone is very near death. There aren't as many Gundrons, but now there are rifle wolves, and like the gundrons, theya aren't herded easily, since they will just shoot at you from a distance. So try and herd other monsters to them to save bombs. The next floor is much like the last, minus the rifle wolves and plus king mimic(2 improved and 1 normal to this one). Most here will need two Improved bombs to kill. The next floor is after the mini boss, so your inside the volcano now, with a new set of monsters to have to kill. Among these are the ever so annoying Lava Runner, who are pointless to herd since you can only hit them from the back. Two normal bombs and an improved will put this guy to rest, and I suggest using the normal bomb first, this way if theres no effect from hitting the shield its not too much money lost. Ultrasonic bomb, you'll need 3 improved and one regular bomb to kill this guy. Lastley there are both types of mimics. This is the hardest floor to date to do with just items, and you will most likley run out of both bombs and improved bombs, when this happens make some bombs, then use those to make some improved bombs, and use stones instead of bombs to finish off a monster. The last floor doesn't get any easier. Now you'll have to deal with Dragons(3 improved bombs), lava bats(hard to hit, even with herding), the skeleton people from before, and the ultrasonic bombs from the last level. But herding is alot easier to do here, and you should do it, get 3-5 hard guys together and finish them all off with a Final bomb. Do this 3 or 4 times at maximum(they are very expensive) and use up the improved bombs and bombs as well, again if you run out make them from the bombs and use stones. Chapter 6 ---------- There are three levels in this one, one in the chapter 3 star path, one in the chapter 4 star path, and one in the chapter 5 star path. All the monsters here are upgraded versions of other monsters you've found in these chapters, so if you are having trouble with a certain monster refer back to that. Most of these can be killed with a final bomb, but you might want to save those for the robots, who actually will need 2 final bombs to be killed, and use 2 or 3 Improved bombs to kill the others. Herd them together to make it easier. Chapter 7 ---------- Heres the HARD one, two improved bombs usually won't even get a monster down to half life, you'll need to be making alot of bombs in this level, use up most of your elemental stones, and herding will be alot more difficult since even while you're blocking you can take signifigant damage from alot of people. I myself haven't done this one, but if you can do it then my hat is off to you. Chapter 8 ---------- Will be added to the chapter 8 secion. So why do it? Sure its cheap in the beginning, but once you have to start using improved bombs its going to run you 20,000 gilda a level, and once you get to final bomb it is going to cost you at least 36,000(just for final bombs, not counting any improved you'll need) a level, and once you get to chapter 8, its even more for the one you'll need! So is there an easy answer to spend so much time and money on this? No theres not, the only thing left to really get would be the name change ticket for one of your weapons, since you can easily get both the clown suit, and one of monica's outfits getting all the other medals before chapter 7...and I'm still not sure if there is a prize for getting every medal, but even if there was it'd only be useful for the last last boss of chapter 8. So why do it then? Its a personal decision, if you want to complete everything the game has to offer, then do it, if not, then don't. D.OTHER Clear without healing. ----------------------- Note:Thanks to "Mike" for some corrections to this part. This one's actually pretty easy, and doesn't show up as much as you'd like. You just have to get past a level without healing. This also means you cannot use healing springs, but for some odd reason a healing or absorb coin on a weapon is allowed, and will get you the medal even if your slowly regening hp throughout the board. You shouldn't have much problem with this one, even when the monsters get stronger just use your left hand weapon with absorb on it, and even better have heal on your right hand weapon, so you'll be slowly regaining hp, and absorbing hp as well. You can also switch characters(and to the ridepod) when hp gets low. An even easier way is to put Pau in your party(which you should have by then, and be using most of the time anyway. Find the magic crystal, and then run strait to the blinking red dot(that is the gate key keeper) kill him, get the key, then run past all the other monsters to the exit, you just got yourself a medal. If worse comes to worse you can find a safe spot, and just sit there and let your hp regenerate while you get a drink or surf the web or whatever. Still, as long as youve been collecting hp/def up items, this one shouldn't be too hard. Spheda ------ Covered in the Spheda section. Fishing -------- This is another easy one, just keep fishing until you catch a fish bigger then what the requirment is. This is easy, just time consuming if you haven't leveled up your fishing rod. Refer to the fishing section for more information. _______________________________________________________________________________ IX-MONSTER BADGES *This section will be finished tomorrow, thanks to my friend Ryan, and my brother for all the help with this section!!* _______________________________________________________________________________ A.INTRO Ok the main question on everyone's mind is probably where do I get them? Then the next is... Why the **** are they so weak and why the **** does it take so long for them to lvl up. Now I can't help you there, thats how they made the game, but I can help you decide which monster to pick(if any) if you perfectionalists out there want every medal. B.WHERE DO YOU GET THEM ALL? The main way of collecting monster badges is buying Gift Capsules(they are on sale in the future in chapter 2, and also someone you recruit sells them, I forget who)and putting the three items inside of it, then throwing it at the monster you want to get the badge of, then killing them, and they will drop the badge. For some reason they set it up in a wierd way, its not in any order I can decifer, but oh well... When you look in monster transformation its set up something like this. _____________ | A | B | C | |___________| | D | E | F | |___________| | G | H | I | |___________| | J | K | L | |____________ A-Beast Badge This one is pretty easy to get, and one of the cheaper ones to get. In chapter 1 find a Sewer rat, and throw a Gift capsule with three cheeses at it. He doesn't move around much and by that time he shouldn't do much damage if you get close to throw it at him, so just get close and make sure not to miss. B-Windup Badge For this badge you need to find bomber head. This little guy is found in chapter 5, when your inside of the mountain(after the boss fight) this is one of the cheapest, as well as easiest ones to capture. Just throw a bomb at it, and you'll get it. C-Aquatic Badge This is another easy one, and cheap... for this one find a froggy in Chapter one(you could probably catch both Froggy and the Sewer Rat in the same go, the first Episode of chapter one)and throw it a gift capsule with three Battans. (Fishing bait)Now this guy hops alot so make sure you get close, block, then throw it at him right after he attacks you. D-Flora Badge Perhaps the easiest to get, is the Flora badge, just buy it once you learn about monster transformation at the tailor's shop in the future of chapter 2. E-Magical Badge For this one you need a Statue, in chapter 4. These guys are made of rock, so throw em a capsule with 3 Sturdy Rocks in it(a georama part) and he'll drop the badge. It moves very very slow so you should have no problem hitting him with it, just run up to it and toss it at him, he probably wont even get a chance to hit you. F-Darkling Badge Now this one you might want to put off till you have alot of money. You'll need to throw a capsule with 3 gold bars in it to the spider lady in chapter 2. (They are easy to find just look for the episode named "ugly spider lady")They are also easy to hit with the capsule, just run up, block and throw it at them after they attack. G-Reptile Badge Now you'll have to find a Wind Gemron in Chapter 3(one of the episodes that cleary say that they are there)and give it a capsule with three wind elements in it. Again easy things, but this time its a flyer, so just block and let it come to you, it will eventually stop spitting and roll over to you, after that itll spit again, then it will do nothing for a few seconds, that is your chance, throw it at it and you should get it. H.Spirit Badge For this one you need a Pixie, in chapter 2, and he wants 3 gooey peaches. When I did it I had them from monsters and such, but if you dont have 3 I think you can buy them in one of the stores in the future of chapter 2 after you get 100% georama. Now this guy'sanother flyer, but alot easier then the Gemron, he'll eventually come down to you, so keep blocking like before, and when he comes down he'll try and throw something at you. After he does just toss it at him, he'll stay down till he throws again, so you shouldn't have a problem. Sometimes he will fly back after throwing it at you, but usually only after he attacks 3-4 times. I.Undead Badge This is yet another one in chapter 2, and the easiest, and cheapest one to get. Just find a Skeliton Soldier, and kill it with a holy water. It'll drop the badge. J.Card Badge THis one is the most costly one to get. You need to give 3 Diamonds!(yes diamond's, so if you want this one, you'de better save them up) in a capsule to the Diamond card monster in chapter 7. This is one of the times when its hard to give it to him, because even when you block you will take damage. Just let him come to you, and block, after he attacks throw it at him. His cycle is to attack 3 times, then jump back, and repeat, so you shouldn't have that much of a problem hitting him with the capsule, its just gettin 3 diamonds to put in it that might be a little hard. K.Sun Badge This is rewarded to you from donny for a 700 score in photography taking. It is not a monster, instead it raises monster's attack and defence. L.Moon Badge This is rewarded to you from donny for a 600 score in photography taking. It is not a monster, instead it reduces the speed that the Transform power, so that you can use your monster longer. C.EVOLUTIONS Each monster evolves at lvl 26, 51 and 76. At each evolution you'll gain an item, in which synchrinized to your weapon will raise all stats. The attack and defence are the max attack and defence for the monster(S is square). _______________________________________________________________________________ X-Chapter 8 The final chapter of the game... isn't required play? _______________________________________________________________________________ A.WHAT?! Yes thats right, the final chapter of the game is a side quest. You don't have to actually do this dungeon, it has nothing to do with the story of the game, its just a way to extend it a little bit, and offer some challenge to those who believed the game was too easy. Theres no real reason to do it, there are a few extra scenes, and the final boss is the final boss of the original Dark Cloud, thats about it. But before you brave this last adventure there are a few things you should do. Preparations ------------ -Max stats...yes thats right, the monsters here are very hard hitters, and have alot of hp. You'll want the max hp and defence to be able to compete. -Max stats on ultimate weapons...not required, but it helps out alot, the only one that you may have trouble getting is max strength, 500 str(300 on the wrench) may be a little difficult to get, but use the easy weapon build up stragegy on the weapons faq to make it a little easier. -Max has a wrench not a hammer...This is required, the hammer is very very slow, and you have to use Max without Monica for the first few stages of this chapter, you won't be able to get a hit off with the hammer, the wrench is the only way. -Max defence and best armor/weapon/fuel on ridepod...not required but adviced, especially if you want to collect medals. -Get everyone into the train...again not required, but it makes it alot easier, since theres no more future city's theres no reason to keep the georama at 100% so go to every town and return everyone to the train, you'll be able to buy most everything you need now in the train(take note that Gordon who sells georama parts will also sell Plum rice balls). B.WALKTHROUGH After you start up the game you see beginning scene, this will basically tell you what you'll be doing, and where to go. After the scene make your preparations, note that Morton now sells every kind of gem, and every kind of coin. When your ready head to the mine, and SAVE. Note:For the walkthrough I will be giving a little mini walkthrough on how best to get the 3rd medal for that level(excluding the kill only with items medals, and then some tips on how to make it through the level, if you do not want to get the medals just ignore the tips for it. Floor 1-Get the Zelmite! --------------------------- Like the medal requirment says, kill everything with your gun, if you have it at max stats you should be able to kill everything on this level in 1-3 hits, not many doing that much damage to you at 100+ defence. Watch out for poison from the Dark Flower and you should be fine. Floor 2-Moon Mole ------------------ For this medal requirment all you have to do is not heal. Again on this level you may want to just use your gun, with exception of the mole, since you may lose lock on alot. If you have healing coin and absorb coin on your weapons you should get this done no problem. Floor 3-Powerful Frog ---------------------- Again not much trouble here. The enemy's here do tend to come in groups and can easily gang up on you and take off some major damage. Just keep your distance, use the gun, and keep blocking and you should get through this one in no problem. Floor 4-Evil Bat Invasion -------------------------- If you've gotten the Laser Arm IV and Triple Urn pack, with max defence then you shouldn't have much of a problem here, except maybe for the low ceilings, you may want to use a Samurai Arm III until you can get Nova Cannon IV, since it also has an added effect of being able to block, but since there are mostly bats in this place, and the laser arms will home in on them, thats what I used mostly. Just go with what works for you. Mimics will also rear thier ugly faces for the first time again in this level. Floor 5-Miners' Breakroom -------------------------- In here you'll have a short scene in which you'll get Monica back! Theres nothing else to do in here so just head to the next floor. Floor 6-Crossroads of Destiny ------------------------------ Now that you have Monica back(and if you have 500 attack on her Island King) then this level should be a breeze. A few monsters to worry about are the Danger Bomb, if he does self destruct he could cause some major damage to you, so kill him quickly to prevent it, and the Stone Guard, like his weaker counterparts this guy can't be touched from the front, which can be a problem if he's part of a group of enemies. There is also a crossroad here, for the sake of clearing the map, treasure, and for this guide, lets take the moon path. Floor 7-Scary Face ------------------- Now its starting to get a little harder. In this level you are introduced to alot of new monsters, theres the Face of Yaksa, who will poison and thirst you, the Cabuble, who does a good amount of damage and has over 4000 hp, the Stormflower, who can goo you, and of course the always loveable King Mimic, this time around he has over 5000 hp, and as always his clap can take off half of your hp, his bite can cause poison or thirst as well as doing signifigant damage. Just don't let your hp fall under half and you should be ok. Floor 8-Powerful Wild Boar --------------------------- I think this floor actually got a little bit easier. There are no mimics, alot less Cabubles, no Stormflowers or Face of Yaksas, the only new monster here is the Spider Lady who can curse you, but you shouldn't have a problem with her, or with this level. Floor 9-Murderous Tank ----------------------- Before coming in here I strongly urgle you to buy a seal breaking scroll(1500) so that you can heal. To get the ridepod medal you're going to need some ridepod fuels, because every enemy in here besides the bat has at least 3,000 hp, and the most damage you could do with the laser arms is about 700 a shot. Its time consuming but you can do it. If your not interested in medals then just go through normally, with the seal broken just don't let your hp get down past half, and you should be fine. Note:You may want to wait until you have the Nova Cannon IV to do this medal, since the Angry Canon can damage other monsters with thier cannon ball attack and mess up your chances of doing it. Floor 10-Dead End 1(boss) ------------------------- Keepers of the loot: Nail burstx2 Wow these guys are hard! One all of their attacks will do over 90 points of dmg if your not blocking, 30 if you are, and to make matters worse there are two of them! To make matters even worse they have alot of health, and even more defence. Of course there is an easy way to kill them, just hop on the ridepod and stay far away from them shooting your lasers. His weapons do more damage then Max or Monica, and since its a high roof, and these two are real slow, you don't have to worry about not all 4 laser's making it to thier target. If the Ridepod dies, then use guns, they will do about the same amount of damage, if they are maxed out. After they are dead you are able to take the loot. I'm not sure if this is randomized or not but I got a Sun Stone and a Healing Coin. Theres nothing else to do here so head out and back to the fork, this time take the sun path. Floor 11-Which One? ------------------- Alright now this floor is very hard, especially if you want to get the sword medal. Mostly because of the Faries, they will stay above your sword range for some time throwing 50 damage attacks at you, this is bad especially if its near another monster or two. Every monster on this level has at least 3,500 hp, except the mimics, which there are a ton of. If your fighting one person, don't let your hp fall past half, if your fighting more then one person, don't let it fall past 3/4th's, because you can lost hp extremely fast in this stage its not even funny. There is also another cross road in here, again for the sake of clearing the map, treasure, and for this guide, lets take the moon path. Floor 12-The Old Woman Saw It ------------------------------ This floor isn't too difficult, even to get the medal. Just use ranged weapons all the time, and switch from Max to Monica or visa versa if your hp gets too low. If you want an even easier way just use Pau to find the blinking red dot, get the gatekey and leave. No new monsters here, and no mimics so you should be fine either way. Floor 13-A Giant Snake! ----------------------- This floor takes the hardest monsters that you've seen thus far and added another pretty hard monster, the Sand Dragon. Though this isn't as hard as you'd expect. The spacing is set up so that most of the time you'll only fight one, maybe 2, at most 3(if your unlucky) monsters at a time. So just take it one at a time slowly and you'll get through this floor easily. Floor 14-Undaunted Soldiers ---------------------------- This place is pathetically simple. Meet the new batch of playing card monsters, and thats it...this floor is entirely card monsters, nothing else. And to make it even easier they tell you right when you coming in the easiest way to do it, "Clear only using ridepod" so get in your ridepod, put on your laser arms, and clear the board. Easier said then done you say? Nope, these guys have no ranged attacks at all, just shoot at one, and it'll come running at you, leaving any others it was near by, just keep moving back and shooting and it'll die. Do this for every one and your done. The only thing that could possibly be some sort of problem is sometimes they will heal for over 1,000 hp, but usually when they are healing, they have 4 lasers coming down on thier heads negating that heal. You can get through this level without getting hit once. Floor 15-Hell, Ward 1 -------------------- Another very easy level. This time you use Max's gun from a distance, and with it having max stats, every person on this level should be dead before they can reach you. They tossed in a few ranged monsters tho, but you should be able to easily dodge/block the attacks. They also added a couple of King Mimics, but as long as you run back from it and shoot this floor should be another easy win. Floor 16-Dead End 2(boss) -------------------- Exploding Skeletal Dude Now there are 5 of them! Each one can hit you for over 90 dmg when not blocking. Luckily when you do block, there is no damage. Ranged weapons do very low dmg, so your best bet is to try and lure one at a time out, if more to come then just try your best to block and hit, heal and repeat. Its not a good idea to use the ridepod either, because when they run at you, they will destroy the ridepod, and if you try to run with it, you'll alert all 5 of them and make them come at you, which is very bad. After the fight you'll get another two chests. Again I don't know if they are random but I got a Moon Stone and an Absorption Coin. Head back to Which One, and this time take the sun path. Floor 17-Road to Truth ----------------------- Another easy level. There are a bunch of new monsters here, but none should pose any problems. There are alot of monsters in groups though, but with your sword you should be able to hit all of them at once killing them all. Again this is just an easy level. Floor 18-Crossroads -------------------- The only real challenge in this level is using Max's weapon. If you have a hammer, its near impossible, with a wrench, you'll just have to hit the monsters alot more times then with using Monica's sword. Choose what you want to do, don't let your hp fall below half, and you'll be fine. There is yet another crossroad here(look at the name of the level)and again for the sake of clearing the map, treasure, and for this guide, lets take the moon path. Floor 19-Lost Road ------------------- Your gunna need alot of ridepod fuel to do this badge. The Bolters are among the most troublesome that you'll find here, since they will roll after you for a very long time. The Platinum Gear is also very bad since he has that annoying crossbow that is very damaging as well. Just try and stay your distance, avoid attacks, and refuel it when needed, and you should get past this level... eventually. Floor 20-Indecision -------------------- A bunch of new monsters, but none should really give you any trouble. Keep with Monica and her sword should make light work of them. Just keep healed and you'll be fine. Floor 21-Dead End 3(boss) -------------------------- Flappin' Brothers These guys hit a little harder then the last bosses, but there are only two of them, and like thier weaker counterparts, they don't have many very close range attacks, so as long as your in close enough you shouldn't have a problem. Again the easiest way to kill these two is to use the Laser arms on the ridepod and stay at a distance. Magic and guns won't work that well, but Monica's sword will. After you defeat both of them three treasure chests will now be available. Again I'm not sure if they are random or not, but I got Dynamite, Poison Coin, and Experience Coin. Now head back to Crossroads and take the sun path. Floor 22-Little Dragon Army ---------------------------- This is another easy level. The entire floor is made up of only different kind of drake monster. Just stay at a distance and use your ranged weapons, dodging thier attacks. You shouldn't get hit at all through this whole board unless you get unlucky and get ganged up on, if that happens just switch to another character if you want the medal. Note that Max's gun will do alot more dmg then Monica's magic. There is another crossroad here and again for the sake of clearing the map, treasure, and for this guide, lets take the moon path. Floor 23-Captain Returns ------------------------- This is another pathetically simple level, if you know the trick. The entire floor is made up of undead pirates, with a few trees thrown into the mix. You'll need to kill everyone with Monica's magic, so stay at a distance and shoot em, the only ones that will be able to get to you before they die are the pirates, so when they get close use your undead badge to change into an undead, they won't bother you. Note that they will finish the attack that was originally ment for Monica, so you will have to dodge that one, after that run back and change back, and fire at them, and they should die before they reach you again. Floor 24-Hell's Turning Point ------------------------------ Another easy Ridepod level. The only people that'll give you any trouble would be the Moonlight Hulk, who'll never sit still, and attacks on all sides of himself when he gets close, rendering you going behind him to attack useless since you'd still get hit and Bandou, another charging monster. Besides those two its an easy level, just keep your distance and use the laser cannon IV. It is also important to point out that every single chest in this dungeon except for three(map, magic crystal, key if theres a door)will contain a Coin, this also includes the Dark coin that you cannot buy in town. Floor 25-Mummy Heaven ---------------------- Another easy level. Just go through it like any other level. Floor 26-Dead End 4(boss) -------------------------- Battle plant squad: The Mandrakerz These guys are actually pretty easy. There are 5 of them, and at the beginning you'll most likley have to fight 3 or even 4 of them at once. This isn't as hard as it sounds though. These guys don't hit as hard as the other bosses (around 80-90 dmg if you've played spheda and gotten the power ups) and with Monica's sword you can hit all of them at once, and take them out pretty fast. After that theres just one or two left, you should be fine, heal when you need to, and make sure to cure yourself if you get gooed. Again the ridepod isn't adviced to use here, mainly because its just easier to do it with the sword. After fighting these, another two chests will appear. Again I'm not sure if they are random but I got two Diamonds. Now head back to Little Dragon Army and take the sun path. Floor 27-A suspicious Opening?(boss) ------------------------------------- After a short scene its time for... Immortal Clown Metal Flotsam This guy is more annoying then hard. First take a picture of him for the final scoop of the game, after that switch to Monica and stay in one place shooting your magic at him. When he lands try and use a combo on him with your sword. Eventually he will die, heal when you need to. Using the ridepod on this battle would take too long, since he just moves around way too fast and you'll end up missing alot with the lasers. After the battle you'll get another short scene where Flotsam is finally killed for good, but you have a little talk about the final boss of this dungeon. After that just head to the next floor, since there are no treasures or anything else to do here. Note:This is a good time to go back and do the ridepod only medal levels if you want to, now that you can make Nova Cannon IV, and Samurai Arm IV. Floor 28-Ward 3 Entrance ------------------------- Well folks, the **** has hit the fan. This is the final ward, the home stretch, and waiting for you here are an entire group of new enemies, all hitting for at least 50 damage, most into the 60's and 70's, with everyone having at least 8,000 hp, and the return of a new beefed up king mimic(10,000 hp). To make matters worse they will be in groups of 2, 3 and if your really unlucky 4. Either Max's gun or Monica's sword is the way to do this, make sure you heal often, because your health can drop very fast in here...good luck. There is also another crossroad here, merely for the sake of the guide, and clearing the map out, take the moon path. Note:You do not have to take the moon path, or do those 5 levels up there since there is really no boss or any items, minus the spheda items. If you don't want to do this, then just skip to floor 34. Floor 29-Flotsam's Broken Army ------------------------------- This level is actually a little easier. Use Max for this level, since you'll have to switch to the ridepod to kill Krau Mauness(and I hope you made either the Samurai arm IV or the Nova Cannon IV for this)and just use his gun on everything else, even if you do get hit, absorb on your gun will get your hp back quickly. This should be a walk in the park compaired to the last level. Floor 30-Hell, Ward 3-Wellside Gossip -------------------------------------- You'll need ridepod fuel for this one, lots of it. The people on this floor will be gathered in groups greater then 2 most of the time, even with this it shouldn't be much of a problem, except for one monster, the Busy Moler. You'll want to switch back to the laser arm for this one, since they are homing, and you can stay far away from it. Besides that this is another pretty easy ridepod level. Floor 31-Devil Elemental ------------------------- This is another pathetically easy level. Just use Max's gun, and every monster on the level will be dead before they can get to you. There are a few ranged attacks, but even if you can't avoid them the absorb on Max's gun will get your hp back pretty fast. Floor 32-Mariner ----------------- Another new set of monsters, most having at least 10,000 hp, and hitting from 70-130 HP each. One to especially watch out for is the Sweet Dynamite, if you allow it to self destruct, then you will die. That will also ruin your chances of getting the medal, so if that does happen just use Max's gun, and don't waste a ressurection powder to get the medal, because you won't get it. Floor 33-Ultimate Snake ------------------------ The Ultimate snake they are talking about is the Dead Rope, nothing really to worry about. Which is the same for everything else on the level. Keep your distance, use guns or magic, and dodge/block any ranged attacks coming at you and you should be alright as long as you don't let your hp drop below half. After this head back to Ward 3 Entrance and take the sun path. Floor 34-Omen --------------- First use a seal breaking scroll to get rid of the white seal. You WILL NOT beat this floor if you do not. Also remember if you have the hammer, you won't be getting the medal for Max's right hand weapon. Now a few monsters in here to worry about, one is the SPinning Saucer, you'll have to hit this guy for quite awhile to kill it with your weapon, and also the new power dragon, stay on its back to avoid its attacks and you should be ok. I hope you have time on your wrench so that you'll have a chance of stopping the monsters and have a combo without worrying about having to block. Also if you are unlucky and get two Tiamets together, escape the dungeon and start over, they will kill you. You should be able to do it eventually, but if you get hit, heal right away, because all of these monsters can kill you in 2 hits, especially if they are flashing. Keep at it and you'll get it. Floor 35-Anxiety ----------------- Meet the next and final pack of playing cards, the Royal Strait Flush Cards, these guys like in the level before have around 10,000-11,000 hp, but these ones can also heal themselves for a little over 3,000 hp given the chance. They only hit for around 100 hp though, so you dont have to heal after every hit, though its a good idea too. To get the medal just use the magic, keep away from them, block and run away, fire again till its dead, and repeat. Note that the trick on the pirates only works on the type of card that you have! Example you have a Spade, it will only work against RSF Spade monster. If you don't want the medal, the sword is the way to go, they usually won't get a chance to attack back, but if they do just heal and finish them off. This level isn't too hard. Floor 36-Firm Belief -------------------- This level is just the hardest monsters from the past few levels all in one level, with the addition of one monster(the Flying Steel) thats just as hard. Remember, two hits from any of these monsters(one from Sweet Dynamite's self destruct)and you're dead. Just keep doing what you've been doing and you'll make it out of here. Floor 37-Sleeping Light ----------------------- This familiar music is finally letting you know that you are almost done! There is nothing new here, like the last level its just the hardest enemies from the previous levels mixed in, just alot more of them in this one. Ranged weapons are your best bet against everyone except the Bone Kings, and the machines. Use the ridepod for the machines, and your sword for the Bone Kings and you should make it past the last level in the game! Floor 38-Zelmite Mine Depths Upon entering you'll need to use the Dynamite that you got on the large bunch of rocks that are in your way. Watch the scene. Dark Genie This guy really isn't that hard. He will fly around in the air, out of reach of any melee attack, while tossing out mini genies. These guys will hit for about 90 dmg, and have roughly 10,000 hp. I used Monica this whole fight. Her sword hit all of the mini genies when they ganged up on me, and I never got hit by one of them. Now randomly the Dark Genie will shoot a big laser down onto the screen, this will hit his mini genies, and you, for about 160 hp of damage, this is very hard to block, and even if you do, it still does around 80-90 dmg to you, so just heal after he does it. When there are no mini genies on the field, you can switch to Max and use the laser gun(which will do more dmg) or just use Monica's magic until it says no effect again. Just repeat until the dark genie falls. This really is an easy battle, I was let down. After he's dead just watch the final scene, thats kind of short and dissapointing after all that work, but you do get to hear the main theme song again :) Congrats! You just beat Dark Cloud 2(again)!! C.MEDALS Time limit ---------- The time limit for chapter 8 is pathetically easy. They give you 8-12 minutes to do this, and you will most likley be able to do this without even trying. Spheda ------- Again spheda is pretty easy here. There is no out of bounds, except for under stairs, or behind rocks in a dead end, but these won't come into play very often. If you've been playing Spheda then you should know the tricks of the trade by now, and as many tips as I can give you, it probably won't help you, I only lost 2 or 3 times throughout the entire dungeon. Kill only items --------------- I haven't done this personally. Most of the monsters in this dungeon have more hp then 2 final bombs, so herding is very important here, but also dangerous, since most monsters will do damage still when you block. If you can do this then again my hat is off to you...but I myself couldn't. D.MONSTERS Note: On the items part, the first one is what you can steal from them, the second is thier common drop, and the third is thier rare drop. If it only has one item then you can steal it, if it only has 2 items, then it does not have a rare drop. this in the game in two places, from sherif Blickhorn, and by buying a monster notes book for 1000 gilda in the item store at Palm Bricks, but I'm adding it to stop all the questions on the board of "where is " also to help people trying to get the kill with items, to know which monster is weak to what if they don't have the book, or the monster data in the book if they have it. _______________________________________________________________________________ Note: On the items part, the first one is what you can steal from them, the second is thier common drop, and the third is thier rare drop. If it only has one item then you can steal it, if it only has 2 items, then it does not have a rare drop. Thats right! _______________________________________________________________________________ Rules ------ -There are four ranks that you can submit a fish to. Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, and Professional. -The most a fish can have in any one stat to be in Novice class is 25. -The most a fish can have in any one stat to be in Beginner class is 50. -The most a fish can have in any one stat to be in Intermediate class is 75. -There is no limit on stats for the professional class. -You can only submit one fish to a race, no matter what class. -If your fish wins a tournament, it cannot enter another tournement, does not matter what class. You can submit as many fish though, you'll just have to raise a new one if your fish wins a tournament. So sign your fish up today and win fabulous prizes(by fabulous I mean your name and e-mail on a top 10 fastest laps, and hall of fame chart here on the guide)! When registering E-mail Steveuo_die@yahoo.com with the subject "fish registration" and include in the e-mail the name of the fish(proper capitalization) the password for the fish(proper capitalization) the name or names(your real name, e-mail, nickname, all three, or any variation of those) you want to be posted on the site. The tournament will be as big as how many e-mail's with fish I receive. If I recieve no e-mails, then this section will most likley just be deleted in a few days. Thank you. _______________________________________________________________________________ XIII-Credits _______________________________________________________________________________ -I want to thank Gamefaqs for hosting my faqs, and the great job they do on this webpage...keep up the good work! -I want to thank Level 5 for an incredible game...I went into blockbuster looking for Xenosaga, and got this instead, boy was I pleasantly surprised. -I want to thank my friend Ryan, my only real human contact for help with the fish section of the faq. -I want to thank Whats Up from the message board for the list of Spheda prizes. -Thanks to jmcartwr@artsci.wustl.edu for letting me know where to buy the Turkey. -Thanks to "Mike" for telling me you dont have to kill all enemys on a level to get the finish without healing medal.(I didn't know that till now!)
