Version Information What's New ---------- After managing to drop my PS2 and thus needing to order replacement parts for it, I got a tad delayed ^^; Upon re-wiring it, I realised what a horrible existance it is to sit and listen to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun for the better part of an hour, in order to figure out the lyrics. So in place of the licenses, this update includes Song Information for the first round of unlocks from the 'Uguisu' and 'Red Dolphin' planets. Namely : Blue Impulse, Gekkou Chou, Kagerow, Graduation, iFuturelist, Ki-Se-Ki, Love Shine, The Least 100 Sec, Murmur Twins, Ska Ska no.3. I'm liking this update, because I got to listen to Kagerow a lot :D ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.0 Intro Welcome to Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA, the 213871397913th game in the DDR series. It's a game that plays music, and challemges you to follow the music by performing a series of choreographed steps. The aim of this FAQ isn't so much to answer questions about successfuly playing the game, but to document the far more interesting parts of the game, and to highlight things which make the game much, much more than just jumping up and down on a plastic mat, while bad music plays from your TV. DDR SuperNOVA is the product of 8 years of Dance Dance Revolution, beatmania, Pop'n Music and Guitar Freaks games, and in many ways, this FAQ is the product of 8 years of love for these games. It's written with the intention that you will read through it from start to finish to learn new things, not to quote small parts of, when you want to refer to things. Although I've tried my best to document every new and unique aspect of the game, The bulk of this FAQ is the Song Information section. This is all written in the hope that someone out there will look up their favorite song, learn something new about it, and appreciate it on a whole new level. This is something I always loved about the DDR series, and it's what drives my continued love affair with the songs, and the people behind them. It's reccomended that you read the game manual before reading this FAQ, because I'm not going to regurgitate any of the information it provides you. This is a document about the music, people and challenges that make up Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA. It's not an FAQ about which arrows to step on. Who on earth would want to read that? ^^; ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.0 FAQ Q. How many songs are in the game? A. 59 full-fledged songs, and around 10 more songs which are only playable in Stellar Master Mode. The default songlist has 32 songs. The others all have to be unlocked. Q. Does it contain all of the songs and features of the arcade? A. No, the game only aims to contain songs which were exclusive to the arcade version of Supernova. Of that mighty list, the PS2 version is missing 1 of the new Konami Original songs, several of the 'Bemani crossover' songs, and all but 3 of the licenses. It replaces them with new licenses, and songs borrowed from the 'Ultramix' series. Q. How do you unlock songs? A. By playing Stellar Master mode and beating certain 'Showdown' stages, hidden songs become available for purchase in the shop. To unlock them, choose the "shop" option on the main menu, and spend "points", which you accumulate every time you play a song. Q. What do "VIP Cards" do? A. When you complete a 'Showdown', you receive the VIP Card for that showdown. Beating certain showdowns or combinations of showdowns will unlock new planets. Q. I keep passing all the songs in Stellar Master Mode, and doing what it tells me, but it's not letting me complete the trials! A. Play without modifiers. Make sure all the modifiers in the "options" menu are turned off. Make sure you aren't playing with any special 'Arrow' graphics turned on, either. Q. What are the 'Boss Songs' A. Healing-D-Vision, Max 300 (Super-Max-Me Mix), Fascination Maxx, Fascination (Eternal Love Mix) and Chaos. The first 4 are playable by playing 'Game Mode' and getting a "AA" grade on your final stage. The boss song you play is dependant on the 'Difficulty Mode' you chose at the start of the game. Easy - Max 300 (Super-Max-Me Mix) Medium - Healing-D-Vision Hard - Fascination Maxx All Music - Fascination (Eternal Love Mix) Get an "AA" grade on any boss song to play Chaos Q. How do you unlock the Boss Songs? A. Play 'Game Mode', reach the boss stage, and get a grade of "A" or higher on the Boss Song. This will make it available for purchase in the shop. Q. How do I earn points? A. Points are earned and added to your total whenever you clear a song, in any mode. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.0 Game Mode [reserved] ---- 3.1 Default songlist At the start of the game you are given a choice of 'difficulty mode'. To play the boss song, beat the 'Final Stage' (by default the 3rd stage) with a "AA" rank. The easiest way to do this is to find a song with a simple and consistent beat (read : Freckles), and to change the speed of the steps in the options menu, to make them as fast as you can realistically read. It's much easier to play by reacting to arrows at fast speeds, than by using rhythmic intuition at slow speeds. If you score a "AA" or higher, a siren will sound during the results screen, and you'll be given a 4th stage (the 'Extra Stage'), and the boss song will be highlighted by default. You are free to play any song as your Extra Stage, but you will be forced to play the song in 1.5x speed, in reverse, with a very strict life bar. The boss song available depends on the difficulty mode selected at the beginning of the game : Easy - Max 300 (Super-Max-Me Mix) Medium - Healing-D-Vision Hard - Fascination Maxx All Music - Fascination (Eternal Love Mix) Getting a grade of "A" or higher on the boss song will make it available for purchase in the shop. Getting a "AA" grade will allow you to play a 5th stage (One More Extra Stage). The only song you can play on this stage is Chaos. It can only be played on 3x speed, in reverse, and the game will end the moment you break your combo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.0 Stellar Master Mode "If the world were a turntable" "Spin it all the way" "Be the stellar master that you are" ---- 4.1 Introduction Each world (Stellar Joint) starts with a small songlist, and a list of trials to complete. You are free to play any of the songs on any difficulty, but the aim is to fulfil the requirements of the 5 trials, while doing so. Each trial is listed as follows - 1. Objective (Quantity) [Step patterns allowed] [Option] - If the option box contains a "O", then changes can be made in the options menu before choosing the song. If the option box contains an "X", then changing any option will disqualify you from completing the trial, until they are reset. After completing 3 trials, the world's first Showdown will open. Completing 4 and 5 trials will open the "Ex" and "Diamond Ex" showdowns, respectively. A showdown is played as a series of back-to-back stages, containing snippets of songs with various gameplay twists. Each showdown contains several possible stages, of which 4 or more are randomly selected, each time you attempt the showdown. All possible stages are listed in the FAQ, as follows : - Stage Code Artist - Song [Step Pattern Used] An explanation of what the stage entails, what you have to do to clear it, and any tricky surprises you'll need to look out for. On harder stages, this also includes hints, tips and methods of completely cheating "Comment" - Unless noted, the object of each stage is always to pass the song with some health remaining on your health bar. Passing showdowns earns "VIP Cards", which are collected to open up even more worlds. Passing certain showdowns will also open up new songs, courses, arrow skins and characters for purchase in the shop. ---- Quick Note From The Author From this point on, all songs are referred to by their legible artist and title. Any song which contains Japanese characters, symbols or hearts is just written in a sensible fashion, and subtitles have been dropped for the sake of formatting. Stellar Master Mode includes several stages which recycle pieces of production music from previous Konami games. These are usually very short and simple stages, and aren't playable in any form outside of Stellar Master Mode. Within the game itself, these songs are all listed as 'Unknown', by the artist 'Unknown', and are played on 'Unknown' difficulty. This seems to be a shortcut taken by the producers or translators of the game, as most of the songs used have previously been attributed titles and authors, in various forms of media. For the sake of a speed, the correct names will be attributed to these songs later. ^^; ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.A Popcorn Walkthrough Popcorn Songlist ---------------- Captain Jack - Centerfold NM featuring Susan Z - Come Clean Fall Out Boy - Dance, Dance Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To Lipps's. To complete the challenge, select and fail any song, until you randomly get given PiX as the dancer. When you get her, clear the song, and repeat a second time. The following songs do not use background dancers, so can't be used to complete the challenge : Dance, Dance, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Let's Dance. ---------------- Popcorn Showdown [Requires 3/4 passes to complete] ---------------- PC-1 Unknown - Unknown [Unknown] Pix commands you to clear the song, scoring great or perfect on at least 40 steps. "I'm sooo glad I didn't get this one ^^;" GL-DEX7 Naoki with Y&Co - Can't Stop Fallin In Love -Super Euro Version- [Difficult] The left and right columns have been switched and this song title is too long to fit nicely into the format of the FAQ. I order to counter it's width, I'm simply going to make this pragraph excessively long, so hopefuly nobody will notice how ugly it looks.. Hey, is this a good time to mention this game has online features? I guess that's kind of pointless, since DDR is a physical game, and you just know the guy on the other end it going to be using a Dual- Shock. It's not like X-Box Live, where the 3 people who own the official PS2 Hard Drive can download bad mixes of Max300, either.. Oh well, I bet it makes PiX happy, and that's really all that matters. Dancing with a female character twice in a row is something you can't engineer, as the dancer is chosen at random. If you don't happen to complete it the time it takes to complete the other trials, just play random songs, and only bother to clear the ones which give you a female character. You'll get it eventualy. --------------- Uguisu Showdown [Requires 3/4 Passes to complete] --------------- UG-1 Unknown - Unknown [Unknown] The "song" is played on 2x speed. UG-EX2 Naoki with Y&Co - Can't Stop Fallin' In Love -Super Euro Version- [Basic] The song is played with 'Diamond' arrows. To clear the song, you have to pass it, and rack up 50 'Marvelous' scores along the way. "Start out by getting PERFECT" UG-EX3 Unknown - Unknown [Unknown] The aim is simply to press the up arrow as quickly as possible for 10 seconds. The gimmick twists the rules of the game a bit, as the bar is nowhere near as harsh as it usually is. "But it's only actually FOUR seconds.." UG-EX4 Asaki - Gekkou Chou [Basic] Step on the 16th arrow only, and get a 'perfect' score. It's an up arrow "Na na na na na na na na UP!" EG-EX5 Terra - Doll [Basic] The steps are slowed down to a fraction of their normal speed, making it very hard to read. The easiest way to do this is to only focus on the very top of the screen, and the arrows you need to imminantly press. Any other arrows in the middle or bottom of the screen are just likely to confuse you, and you don't need to know about them until they reach the very top. If it gives you trouble, try and block off the lower 3/4 of your screen, to help you concentrate "Get used to the slow arrows" EG-EX6 Akira Yamaoka - iFuturelist [Basic] All the arrows appear in a single column. "Pix likes practice" EG-EX7 Des-Row United - Kagerow [Beginner] As the steps scroll up the screen, they slow down drastically as they reach the top, making them hard to time. When the beat stops, the steps follow the trumpet in the background. Use that to judge your timing. "Pix wants to be popular!" If a freeze arrow is obscured, and you can't tell which arrow it's meant to be, then it's USUALLY the opposite direction of the arrow that follow it. "Pix will dance with ya!" UG-DEX5 Asaki - Gekkou Chou [Difficult] The aim is to clear a few bars from the middle of the song with a full combo. In order to make me spend 10 minutes in Training Mode with a video camera, naughty little Pix has cunningly hidden one of the arrows.. It's the 17th arrow, and it's meant to be "up" "Silly Pix!" UG-DEX6 BeFoU - Ki-Se-Ki [Basic] AAA a few bars of the song.. On Hidden Mode.. Isn't this fun? Don't you love Pix? I bet she has some really FUN ideas for how we're going to play Fascination Maxx... Remember to turn them off again before moving onto the next trial. Dancing with a male character three times in a row is something you can't engineer, as the dancer is chosen at random. If you don't happen to complete it the time it takes to complete the other trials, just play random songs, and only bother to clear the ones which give you a male character. You'll get it eventualy. -------------------- Red Dolphin Showdown [Requires 3/4 Passes to complete] -------------------- RD-1 Unknown - Unknown [Unknown] Clear the song with a full combo "Pix gives good massages!" RD-2 Unknown - Unknown [Unknown] The song consists of a single freeze arrow. Why not sit on the pad, and reflect upon all the danciing that you've done today? Doesn't it leave you feeling relaxed, and in-touch with your inner self? "DJ Damien will sue" RD-3 Unknown - Unknown [Unknown] Clear the song with an "A" grade or higher "Good job!" RD-4 Unknown - Unknown [Unknown] Clear the song with an "A" grade or higher. Every step is a jump "" ----------------------- Red Dolphin Ex Showdown [Requires 4/5 Passes to complete] ----------------------- RD-EX1 The Surrenders - Gorgeous 2012 [Basic] The arrow markers have been moved to just over halfway down the screen. Hit the arrows when they reach the markers, and clear the song. "There is no part of the song that can be quoted without offending someone" RD-EX2 LED-G vs Guhroovy - Love Is Dreaminess [Basic] The arrows scroll up and down the screen several times, before they reach the top. If it gets confusing, try to focus only on the arrow markers, and react to arrows as they reach the very top. Remember also that this is being played on Basic Mode, and that anything that any steps which look difficult are just an illusion caused by the scrolling effect. "Now with authentic Rave-Vision" RD-EX3 Naoki feat. Becky Lucinda - My Only Shining Star [Basic] As the steps scroll up the screen, they slow down drastically as they reach the top, making them hard to time. "Listen to your heart beat!" RD-EX4 Uzi-Lay - Put Your Faith In Me (Saturday Night Mix) [Beginner] Two of the arrow markers are detached from their normal positions, meaning that the arrows in two columns must be pressed 1 beat EARLIER than arrows in the other two. If you'r using a dual-shock, try using your left hand exclusively for horizontal columns, and the right hand exclusively for vertical columns. "Causing much mayhem" RD-EX5 NC feat NRG Factory - Innocence Of Silence [Basic] All the arrows appear in a single column. Jumps have all been removed, so you don't need to worry about ever getting 2 arrows at once. If a freeze arrow is obscured, and you can't tell which arrow it's meant to be, then it's USUALLY the opposite direction of the arrow that follow it. Clear the song with a full combo to pass. "Do full combos!" RD-EX6 Yu_tokiwa.djw - Murmur Twins [Basic] Clear the song without stepping on the up arrow. Stepping on the up arrow instantly causes you to fail.. Have I mentioned duct taping your TV isn't really as dangerous as it sounds? "I want to be an astronaut" RD-EX7 Roger Sanchez - Turn On The Music [Basic] The steps have been slowed down to a fraction of their normal speed. "Complete with B or better" ------------------------------- Red Dolphin Diamond Ex Showdown [Requires 4/5 Passes to complete] ------------------------------- RD-DEX1 Yu_Tokiwa.djw - Murmur Twins [Difficult] The arrow markers have been moved into the lower half of the screen, and hidden. Pix has the right idea, by hinting that you should "watch where MISS appears", to figure out where the arrow markers are.. Well done Pix, that would work really well if it didn't actually say "boo" instead of "miss".. "Watch where MISS appears" RD-DEX2 NM featuring Susan Z - Come Clear [Difficult] The right arrow column has been detached from the others. You need to hit the right arrows a full beat before other arrows. Keep in mind that most of the times the right arrow appears, it's part of a jump. "Let the rain fall down" RD-DEX3 NC feat. NRG Factory - Innocence Of Silence [Difficult] Clear the song without your combo ever exceeding 9. You can safely ignore every 8th arrow, and comfortably pass the song. "Is the mat ready?" RD-DEX4 Shawn The Horny Master - Fly Away (Mix Del Matador) [Expert] In a HILARIOUS pun, the song is played with "bird" arrows.. Get it?!.. they make off-beat arrows incredibly hard to read. Get a combo of at least 30, and pass the song to clear the stage. "Just reaching out to the sky above" RD-DEX5 SySF feat. Donna Burke - Star Gate Heaven (Future Love Mix) [Difficult] The arrows in the left column move at twice the speed of the other arrows. "Open up etheral imaginings" RD-DEX6 Unknown - Unknown [Unknown] The song consists entirely of left and right arrows, which bear no relation to the music. The goal is to get a combo of 40 steps. Make sure you don't go too fast, especialy on a dual-shock. "Nintendo Powermat!" RD-DEX7 Terra - Mugen [Difficult] The song is played on 2x speed, and the steps have been replaced with 'drops' (3 arrows at once). The object is to hit the panel which is NOT shown as part of the step. For example, if the next step is left/right/down, you need to press up.. Or just plug in a dual-shock and mash all 4 buttons for the entirety of the song! :D "Foyboy's Mugen DWI in all it's glory" RD-DEX8 Anettai Maji-Ska Bakudan - Ska Ska No.3 [Difficult] The right arrow column has been detached from the others. You need to hit the right arrows a full beat before other arrows. This is one of the easiest incarnations of the theme. "Knead feet" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.0 Song Information Information for each song is provided here. Most of the information isn't mentioned at all in the game itself, and comes courtesy of 8 years of paying far too much attention to Konami's website. I hope that even if you don't really care who sung the rap at the end of some song you've never played, you'll appreciate the rich tapestry of music and gameplay, that makes the DDR series so interesting. If it wasn't for the depth of this 'expanded universe' outside of the actual game, there's no way I'd still be playing it. If this is your first time playing DDR, I hope this makes the game more interesting :D --- Song information is provided in the following format: Song Title Composed by : Song credits are included if known Lyrics : Artists are usually referred to by their real names Vocals : Not the alias that the song is released under DDR Debut : Unless the song is new, this is the DDR game it first appeared on Origin : The music CD or BeMani game for which this song was written Available on : Commercial CDs which contain this song Lyrics ------ Song lyrics are posted in standardised formatting. Japanese songs are romanised. Trivia ------ Interesting trivia about the song, or the people behind it. I think this is important, because it for many fans of the series, DDR's 'extended universe' of artists crossover games is what keeps us coming back to a game which has ultimately been exactly the same for the past 8 years. 142 BPM [Category Song Duration ] Song difficulty on Single mode [Beginner x / Basic x / Difficult x / Expert x] Song difficulty on Double mode [ Basic x / Difficult x / Expert x] ---- Songs are listed on the songwheel (and in the FAQ) under various categories. Konami Original These songs were written specifically for Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA by Konami's team of in-house musicians, and cannot be found on commercial CDs. The songs are usually produced alongside the arcade game, so that the steps can be tailored to the song, and in some cases, the song can be tailored to the steps that the producers want to create. BeMani Transplant These songs were written specifically for one of Konami's other music games, by the same team of musicians who create the Konami Original songs. Although the songs were not designed specifically for DDR, they may have been edited or remixed for the game. Revival Track These are songs from previous DDR games. Some of them are from the Japanese DDR series, and some of them are from American spin-off games. In most cases, these songs were written by Konami's in-house team. Flow Only if we live it can we keep up with this beat of the flow Only with you do I wanna fall into the flow Only if we watch together everything, bears a flow Only with you do I wanna be part of the flow Trivia ------ This song originally appeared in Dancing Stage SuperNOVA simply titled 'Flow'. After the popularity of the song started to rise, a remix 'Flow (Raga Style)' was leaked onto the Internet, and rumours spread of a Japanese remix called 'Flow (True Style). The Japanese version of DDR SuperNOVA did indeed include 'Flow (True Style)'. Although the song is identical to the original, the steps in True Style speed up and slow down at various points. It also includes challenge steps, which were not present in the original song. In the arcade, Flow (True Style) is only playable on Japanese machines, or on American machines which have installed a patch which makes it playable. 140-280 BPM [Konami Original Duration 1:39] Single [Beginner 3 / Basic 4 / Difficult 6 / Expert 8 / Challenge 8] Double [ Basic 4 / Difficult 6 / Expert 8 / Challenge 8] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fly Away Origin : Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA (Arcade Release) Composed by : Shoichiro Hirata Lyrics : ChiyoTia Vocals : ChiyoTia Lyrics ------ When we were young, we used to share dreams Dreams that never fade away You were the king, I was your queen And in my dreams, there were destiny I could never turn around No matter what comes in my way Feel so high If you just go, and release your fears Don't be ashamed to cry No way back The journey may be long But trust your power of love Fly away, we'll fly away Just reaching out to the sky above Don't be afraid Fly away, we'll fly away Just spread your wings and fly away Uh oh, uh oh Fly away, we'll fly away Just reaching out to the sky above Don't be afraid Fly away, we'll fly away Just spread your wings and fly away Trivia ------ Fly Away was one of only 2 new songs included in the first unveiling of Dancing Stage SuperNOVA. 125 BPM [Konami Original Duration 1:43] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 3 / Difficult 6 / Expert 8] Double [ Basic 3 / Difficult 6 / Expert 7] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Only Shining Star Composed by : Naoki Maeda Vocals : Becky Lucinda, Scott Dolph Origin : Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA (Arcade Release) Lyrics ------ Are you ready My only shining star, you are my guiding star 5,4,3,2,1 Shining star You should meet my only shining star They'll make all your dreams come true And if you meet my only shining star They can do the same for you Shining down from up above (shining down) Shining down on you (shining down) Shining down is what they do So you can dance, the whole night through Meet my only shining star Make all your dreams come true And if you meet my only shining star They can do the same for you Shining down from up above Shining down on me and you Shining down is what they do So you can dance the whole night through (ohh) Tell me, tell me, where you are My only shining star, You are my guiding star You're my guiding star Meet my only shining star Make all your dreams come true (come true) And if you'll meet my only shining star They can do the same for you D, to the A, to the A, to the N, to the A, to the C, to the C, to the E Dance baby Trivia ------ That isn't how you spell 'dance'. Scotty D recorded his rap using the same delivery he uses as the 'announcer'. When the game tries to play an announcer sample, this often causes him to talk over himself, and occasional produces such comedy gems as "My guiding star, you're NOT an ordinary fella!" and "You're my 100 hundred guiding combos star!" This song is often used in various Konami preview videos, usually for DDR products and events. The version used in these videos does not include any of Scotty D's vocals. 155 BPM [Konami Original Duration 1:40] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 3 / Difficult 5 / Expert 6] Double [ Basic 3 / Difficult 4 / Expert 7] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peace Composed by : Naoki Maeda Lyrics : Riyu Kosaka Vocals : Noria Shiraishi, Sayaka Minami, Lisa Sotohana, Riyu Kosaka, Yoma Komatsu Origin : Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA (Arcade Release) Available on : BeForU - BeForU II Trivia ------ The song's title is pronounced 'Peace Foon Vee', although for obvious reasons, it's usually just written as 'Peace'. After DDR Extreme, Naoki credits Peace as being the first DDR song he wrote in 3 years, and the first song written for DDR SuperNOVA. This suggests that the original music he wrote for DDR Strike was originally written before DDR Extreme, but had never been published. An extended version of Peace features on BeForU's 2nd album 'BeForU II'. 142 BPM [Konami Original Duration 1:35] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 2 / Difficult 5 / Expert 6] Double [ Basic 2 / Difficult 5 / Expert 6] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Star Gate Heaven Composed by : Sota Fujimori Vocals : Donna Burke Origin : Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA (Arcade Release) Lyrics ------ Long before the planets were forming the truth Joining the parts brought together by longing A world never seen before you and I were born Enter into another dimension to travel with me to sentient star power Holding a message of love to return it one lonely night Open up ethereal imaginings to worlds beyond the stars (Take me out to paradise) Open up your truest self and deepest heart, though we'll never part (Take me out to paradise) Trivia ------ Although this is Donna Burke's debut in the DDR series, she is best known to videogame fans for singing the opening and closing themes to Square Enix's Gamecube RPG 'Final Fantasy : Crystal Chronicles'. Donna has previously worked with Konami as a voice actor, appearing in 3 consecutive Silent Hill games, portraying a different character in each. 145 BPM [Konami Original Duration 1:34] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 3 / Difficult 5 / Expert 7] Double [ Basic 3 / Difficult 6 / Expert 8] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- True Love Composed by : Junko Karashima Vocals : Schanita Origin : Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA (Arcade Release) Lyrics ------ True love, true love, I'm looking for true love Looking for true love wherever I go True love, true love, I'm looking for true love For true love, for true love, so love me so, so Looking for true love, looking for true love I'm looking for true love wherever I go Looking for true love, looking for true love I'm looking for true love so love me so, so Sunday, Monday, asking my heart again Tuesday, Wednesday, love them, desert them Thursday, Friday, I'll look deep inside, and then start again Please Making him handsome, make him strong Making him kind, to last the whole night long Making him handsome, make him strong Making him kind, to last the whole night long Oh, true love - oh, true love Oh, true love - oh, true love Oh, true love - oh, true love Oh, where will I go? Oh, true love - oh, true love Oh, true love - oh, true love Oh, true love - oh, true love Your very existence Trivia ------ In Dancing Stage SuperNOVA, this song is listed in-game as "Jun - True Love", and was credited to Bemani regulars Junko Karashima and Tahirih Walker. This was recently changed subsequent releases to read "Jun feat Schanita - True Love". Jun credits this as being the first BeMani song sung by Schanita, which suggests that this isn't an alias for her regular vocalist Thirih. Schanita sings the phrase 'True Love' 49 times in 96 seconds. On average, that's once every 1.95 seconds. 188 BPM [Konami Original Duration 1:36] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 4 / Difficult 5 / Expert 8] Double [ Basic 4 / Difficult 5 / Expert 8] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.C BeMani Transplants ----------------------- Curus Composed by : Osamu Migitera Lyrics : Osamu Migitera Vocals : Makoto Origin : Pop'n Music Iroga Available on : Pop'n Music Iroha OST Lyrics ------ I think you decide it, When I keep my love to be best Now I wonder how, you slipped away from me Make me run always, how my loves fade into blue That's immobility all-time, all-place, somewhere In fact, I was understanding that You know how to rescue me with such your touch. But it should be a dream made real So I'm going to become trouble my uneasiness The flow, from you, to me, love Flow, flow Flow, flow It - was a - dream you knew how to - rescue me. I know, you know Trivia ------ Although Curus was always written with high-pitch vocals in mind, It took Osamu so long to find a suitable vocalist, that when the song appeared in beta tests for Pop'n Music 12, the only recording available was one of Osamu singing it himself. The song was re-recorded before the final release of the game, with Osamu's regular female vocalist Makoto providing the vocals. 184-188 BPM [BeMani Transplant Duration 1:34] Single [Beginner 2 / Basic 2 / Difficult 4 / Expert 7] Double [ Basic 2 / Difficult 4 / Expert 7] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gekkou Chou Composed by : Asaki Origin : Guitar Freaks 8 / Drummania 8 Available on : Guitar Freaks 8 & Drummania 8 OST Lyrics ------ Ano takasa wa dore hodo de syou To anata wa itte ita Osanai koro otsuki sama no sita de kirakira no michikake adotta Hitotsu toge ni hureru tabi kiete iku Hitotsu mo kobosanu you tenohira de sukutte tameta Tsuki wa nakunatte ita Sayonara mono iwanu mono tachi yo Kitto zutto sou nano desyou Kirakira to hikaru tsuki ha Aa yuki iro no chou ni toke namida ni natta Trivia ------ The song's name translates to english as 'Moonlight Butterfly' The song has a music video consisting of pans and animations of black and white drawings. The video is continualy distorted, to give it a very edgy gothic style. Although the video is not included in this game, elements of it are used in the song's banner. The identity of the artist 'Asaki' (who wrote, performs and sings this song) is hotly debated within the BeMani community. Many believe him to be Visual Key singer Asaki Yuuhei, or long-time BeMani musician Hirofumi Sasaki. In all BeMani publicity photos, Asaki's face is obscured or blurred, in order to further maintain the mystery. 218 BPM [BeMani Transplant Duration 1:23] Single [Beginner 2 / Basic 3 / Difficult 5 / Expert 7] Double [ Basic 3 / Difficult 5 / Expert 9] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kagerow Composed by : Osamu Migitera Lyrics : Osamu Migitera Vocals : Osamu Migitera, Hidaka Meidai, Tsuboi Origin : Pop'n Music 11 Available on : Pop'n Music 11 OST, Des-ROW - D Lyrics ------ Sou itsu no hi darou ka, nani mo kamo wakaranakute, Dare ni mitsukaranai you ni, boku wa sono toki wo matsu Kasuka na kioku ni yureru kokoro Meguru kisetsu, kawaru keshiki Kimi ga kokoro tozashi tsuzukeru nara Don't know why you gotta pain tonight Sawagu mi to, kageru fuan Tobitatsu tame no smile, kill your fear Kimi wa saisho kara shitteita Waiting so long, ready tonight (go!) The song shares it's name with a controversial japanese rock band, which may explain it's unconventional spelling within the game. The word Kagerou means various things in japanese, although in this case the song is about freedom, and the appreciation of life. Osamu uses a mayfly as a metaphor for a being that has infinite freedom, but only a single day in which to experience life. The song is incorrectly translated in-game as "Dragonfly". Although both Dragonfly and Mayfly may appear interchangeable, the song specificaly refers to mayflies, and their single-day lifespan. The same is not true of dragonflies. In Pop'n music, the song has a mascot called Kajika, who carries a crystal around with him, dangling from a pole. According to the character's official biography, he lives in a cave, and uses the 'living energy source' of the crystal to illuminate the world around him. The group name 'Des-Row United Special' (Des-Row Group Special in japanese) was previously known as 'Des-Row feat. Tsuboi For Alpha'. The change was made in order to conceal the work of Tsuboi, who repeatedly performs in Des-Row's songs, against his record label's wishes. Since this is a breach of contract, he cannot receive billing within the games themselves, and all appearances are billed as "Des-Row +1", "Des-Row +r" etc. When the group perform live on the "Pop'n Music Artist Live" DVDs, Tsuboi's face is constantly concealed from the camera. Although Des-Row writes songs about a variety of subjects, he is most notable for writing and singing anti-american songs such as 'Daikenkai' (a song referencing some of the injustices Japan suffered during World War 2), and 'Close My Eyes For Me' (A song about his dislike of current american foreign policy, and how he feels it could bring about a metaphorical end to the world. Although Daikenkai has previously been featured in the american game 'DDR Extreme 2', Des-Row's feature song from the arcade version of DDR SuperNOVA (Dan Dan Doh) is not included in the Playstation 2 version, most likey because of it's political lyrics. An extended version of this song is featured on Des-Row's album 'D'. 164 BPM [BeMani Transplant Duration 1:37] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 4 / Difficult 5 / Expert 7] Double [ Basic 3 / Difficult 4 / Expert 8] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mugen Composed by : Naoki Maeda Lyrics : Junko Karashima Vocals : Junko Karashima Origin : Pop'n Music Iroha Available on : Terra - Revolution, Pop'n Music Iroha OST Lyrics ------ Aki no tsuki, utakata Fuke yuku sora, kikyou ni somu Sayakeki kage, o miteita Ikue ni naru, mushi no neiro ga Sabishikute yamu koto o inota ta Kono basho ga kurushii no wa naze Anohi anata o, ushinatta kara deshou Aki no tsuki, utakata Honoka ni, koboreru hikari Mitsukete, kureta no wa Anata deshita Mangetsu yo, moshi hitotsu Hitotsu dake negai ga kanau to iunaraba Aitai mou ichido dake Setsuna no tomoshibi de ii Yobi samashite Trivia ------ Although many of Naoki's previous songs include recurring themes of heartbreak and longing, Jun's lyrics appear to hold personal significance. The lyrics tell the touching story of a girl visiting the autumn festivals held in japan, and the feelings she has to deal with whenever she looks up at the autumn moon, a vision which always brings back memories of a time she spent with a significant person. She recalls their time together, before breaking down, and wishing upon the moon that she could see him again just one more time. The theme of the lyrics is the tragedy of something so beautiful as the autumn sky bringing such pain to someone, whenever they gaze upon it. Naoki attests that although the lyrics are the most important part of the song, his goal in composing it was to create music that took such tragedy, and made it beautiful again, feeling it poignant that something so tragic could touch so many people, in arcades all over japan, and that through the game, the song would bring them joy. An extended version of the song is available on Terra's album 'Revolution'. In Pop'n Music, the song's name is written entirely in Japanese, reading "Mugen no Hikari", which translates to 'Illusion Of Light'. The song is named 'Mugen' in DDR SuperNOVA, to fit in with it's Japanese vocals, and the traditional Japanese instruments used in the music. This is one of the few Pop'n Music songs which receives a new banner for it's DDR incarnation. The original banner featured the character Kikyo (the song's mascot) posing with a skull. Although their fourth song in Pop'N Music, this is the first song not to feature the popular character Judy. During the first public unveiling of the game, Mugen and Fascination Maxx were the only new songs in the game to have 10-foot steps. Although the song still retains the same steps, the difficulty has been downgraded severely, leading fans to presume that the original listing was either a mistake, or that Konami drastically overestimated it's difficulty. 171 BPM [BeMani Transplant Duration 1:39] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 3 / Difficult 6 / Expert 8] Double [ Basic 3 / Difficult 5 / Expert 8] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Murmur Twins Composed by : Jun Wakita Lyrics : Yu Tokiwa Vocals : Yu Tokiwa Origin : beatmania 8th Style Available on : beatmania 8th Style OST Lyrics ------ Follow you, jamming away to anything Just to come on, to anything Just to believe in we're hiding, alone in the dark Leave me alone, mom You don't have to believe in a color yourself But I just saw it Gotta keep alot of the things Oh you know, fight the bad feeling, no fair If you wanted the view, then I having your fun There's something wrong with these Follow to me, and can do our song tonight I just wanna be, another song So I don't mind that we don't talk to me True, do you really know that song So, well, okay You are mine besides Follow you, jamming away to anything Just to come on, to anything Just to believe in we're hiding, alone in the dark Give me some more Can we believe in anything Why you are sad? We don't know Sat at the door and leave us safe from the dark Leave me alone, mom Trivia ------ Murmur Twins appeared in early betas of DDR Strike, but was pulled from the game before release, presumably because it's existing popularity would help provide another 'big song' to re-launch the DDR series in arcades. The song is accompanied by it's music video, taken from beatmania IIDX. The video is produced by Gyo Eguchi, using illustrations by VJ Kaeru The computer at the end of the video is running 'WacOS', a pun on 'MacOS', and the Wakita's regular BeMani alias, Wac. Various files on the desktop relate to Wac's previous BeMani songs, and all end in the file suffix '.djw', which stands for 'DJ Wac'. In a brief scene, the twins are dressed as Mimi and Nyami, the macots for the Pop'n Music series. The song has a 'sequal' in beatmania IIDX 9th style, titled 'Moon Child'. Although an instrumental, the song re-unites Tokiwa and Kaeru, and although the music seems to emulate Murmur Twins at various points, it takes on a much darker tone. At the time, it was considered one of the hardest songs in the series. A remix of the song appears in Pop'n Music, titled 'MurMur Twins (Guitar Pop Style). The remix is arranged by Good-Cool. An official remix of the song exists, titled 'Kors K - Murmur Twins (Scrab The Hardcore Remix). It was featured on a Konami V-Rare CD, a series of CDs given away with pre-orders of Japanese BeMani games. 171 BPM [BeMani Transplant Duration 1:35] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 2 / Difficult 6 / Expert 7] Double [ Basic 2 / Difficult 6 / Expert 7] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No.13 Composed by : Takayuki Ishikawa Origin : beatmania IIDX 10th Style Available on : beatmania IIDX 10th Style OST Trivia ------ Although DJ Taka is known for a fusion of classical music and modern techno, only 2 of those previous songs were based on pieces of historical music. Although credited for the song, Taka humbly considers himself as having merely performed minor arrangement work, and insists that Johan Sebastian Bach wrote this song for beatmania IIDX, 300 years before it's release. The song consists of Taka performing Johan Sebastion Bach's "Invention No. 13 in A minor, BWV 784". Although song is simplified for play in beatmania, his arrangement is very true to the original, and even when broken down into sound samples, produced arguably the hardest song that beatmania fans had seen at the time. When played on the "another" difficulty, the song contained more notes than any other song in the series. 172 BPM [BeMani Transplant Duration 1:30] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 4 / Difficult 7 / Expert 9] Double [ Basic 4 / Difficult 6 / Expert 8] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Rainbow Composed by : Ryutaro Nakahara Origin : beatmania 10th Style Available on : beatmania 10th Style OST Lyrics ------ Hey Alrighty Go Rainbow Dance Go Rainbow to the sky Rainbow to the dream Rainbow (hey) Dance Go Rainbow (hey) Trivia ------ The song title is often pronounced 'Double Rainbow' in japan. The song uses the same "go!" sample as many early DDR songs. As well as being the most anticipated BeMani Transplant in DDR SuperNOVA, it also has arguably the most interesting story behind it. Shortly after the release of beatmania IIDX 3rd Style in the year 2000, Konami announced a 'musicmanship trial' conpetition, allowing players to submit their own original pieces of music to Konami. The rather awesome prize was to have their song featured in the next IIDX game. The contest was announced as a tie between 2 songs. 'Kors K - Clione' and 'Ryu - Starmine'. Although both songs were a hit, Starmine in particular has achieved incredible success. Along with 'V', it has consistantly remained as one of the most popular songs in the series. 10 games later, it is still seen as a signiature tune for the entire beatmania series. During the production of beatmania IIDX 10th Style, both artists were contacted to produce new songs for the game. Ryutaro submitted 3 songs, the most popular of which was Rainbow Rainbow. In the game's production notes, Ryutaro describes once seeing a 'double rainbow', consisting of a far-away rainbow being overlapped by another rainbow closer in the distance, so that the two seem joined. Ryutaro gazed at the rainbows until they started to dissipate, and left wishing that he could convey to someone the feeling that the sight had given him. After going home that evening, Ryutaro tried to took a bath, while constantly trying to work out a melody in his head. Every time he thought of something, he would rush downstairs to his keyboard, and put parts of the song in place. After finishing his (very long) bath, Ryutaro put a simple arrangement of the melody onto his computer, and went to bed. The next morning he woke up, remembered the song, and upon rushing downstairs to confirm it wasn't just a dream, was delighted to confirm that he song was indeed as 'awesome' as he'd remembered. The song is rather unique, in that each note is played twice in very quick succession, with both notes almost overlapping. It isn't clear whether this it the method Ryu intended to convey the image of the 'double rainbow', or whether the combination of energy and euphoric release are intended to convey the same feeling he experienced that day. It's probably a combination of both. 177 BPM [BeMani Transplant Duration 1:30] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 2 / Difficult 4 / Expert 7] Double [ Basic 2 / Difficult 5 / Expert 8] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ska Ska no.3 Composed by : Ono Hideyuki Origin : Pop'n Music 6 Available on : Pop'n Music 6 Trivia ------ The song is a follow-up to 'Ska Ska No.1', which featured in the original 'Drummania' game. Ono feels this song is truer to an authentic Ska sound, since the original song was a part of the Guitar Freaks series, and therefore required the song to be written specificaly for play on a drum and a guitar. During the development of Keyboard Mania 3, Ono wrote' Ska Ska No.2', although it was later re-named to 'Cassandra'. Ska Ska No.4 is a piece of production music used in Guitar Freaks 11. An extended version of the song is playable in Pop'n Music Fever. 138 BPM [BeMani Transplant Duration 1:24] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 3 / Difficult 5 / Expert 7] Double [ Basic 3 / Difficult 6 / Expert 7] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Xepher Composed by : Tatsuya Shimizu Lyrics : Tatsuya Shimizu, Maya Takamura Vocals : Junko Hirata, Natori Yumi Origin : beatmania IIDX Happy Sky Available on : beatmania IIDX Happy Sky OST Lyrics ------ Existing in this place now are un cleanable lies I wonder when it has begun How far do I have to go to see the light? Stars in your eyes Stars in your heart You will live in shadow of shade and commit the eight sin Unrequited existence will turn Everything into nothing Trivia ------ This is Tatsh's second 'Medieval Choir' song, and the immediate follow-up to 'Sphere'. After the music was originally composed as 'Medieval Choir 2', Tatsh was presented with a video concept written by Maya Takamura (VJ Maya) about a boy and a girl who fall in love, while their world is literally being destroyed. The poem suggests that although they have the power to save the world, they care only about love and hatred, During the night of a great battle, they commit the 'eighth sin', which turns 'everything into nothing'. Maya originally described the world through a which Tatsh condensed, and re- wrote into the lyrics of the song. Other elements of the poem were re-written and placed in the background of the music video, and in promotional wallpapers, which can be found on the IIDX Happy Sky website. The background video which plays during the song consists of still images drawn by Maya Takamura, along with the song's lyrics, and other verses of the poem appearing on-screen. Although the song's name is pronounced 'Zepher', it is written with an 'X'. According to Tatsh, the letter represents the unknown, and suggests that it is up to fans of the game to fully develop and flesh-out the world he and Maya have created. The song was immensely successful amongst beatmania fans, and was one of the first songs included in early versions of DS SuperNOVA. Although the song is one of the hardest songs in beatmania, it appeared in SuperNOVA as one of the easiest 8-foot songs. After talking to fans at the UK beta test, the developers added the 10-foot Challenge steps to the song in time for it's American and Japanese unveilings. A second version of the song exists on the 'Bemani Toprankers' CD, called 'Xepher ver 1.1). It isn't clear whether this is a re-arrangement of the song, or an version from early in the song's production. 170 BPM [BeMani Transplant Duration 1:41] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 5 / Difficult 7 / Expert 9 / Challenge 10] Double [ Basic 5 / Difficult 6 / Expert 9 / Challenge 10] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.D Revival Tracks ------------------- Blue Impulse Composed by : Naoki Maeda Lyrics : Junko Karashima Vocals : Yuki Debut : DDR Extreme Origin : beatmania IIDX 8th Style Available on : beatmania IIDX 8th Style OST, Terra - Revolution Lyrics ------ Touch the sky Nee doushite, mune ga itai no Tomanai ame ni Kokoro utsushite Sekai de ichiban kanashikutemo Kumori no ano toi sora wo mite Kono basho ni yagate Mabushii hikari ga sasu koto oshieteiru To the sky high, Toberu hazu Niji wo tobikoete yuke Ano hi miseta namida wa Itsuka kagayaku kachi ga aru Toki wa tsukuru mono Kimi ga tsukuriugokasu mono Kimi dake no te ni nigirareteiru Tobira no kagi ga aru Where is your bright dream, sou zutto kimi wo shijite ite ne Kujikesou na toki wa omoidashite Watashi ga koko ni iru koto wo Trivia ------ This song is commonly refered to as "Aoi no Shoudou", and previously mis- translated as 'Youthful Urges', a title mostly used to poke fun at Naoki's habbit of employing japanese school-children to sing for him. Although they had previously collaborated on 'Ever Snow' in DDRMAX 2, this is the first song written entirely by Naoki and Jun. Terra's album 'Revolution' contains a re-recording of Blue Impulse, this time sung by Jun. The album also contains a remix of the song by Sota Fujimori. 145 BPM [Revival Track - BeMani Transplant Duration 1:36] Single [ Beginner 1 / Basic 3 / Difficult 5 / Expert 8] Double [ Basic 3 / Difficult 5 / Expert 8] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doll Composed by : Naoki Maeda Lyrics : Junko Karashima Vocals : Junko Karashima DDR Debut : DDR Strike Origin : beatmania 10th Style Available on : Terra - Revolution, beatmania 10th Style OST Lyrics ------ Torimaku kono sekai ni Shiroi wa ga maiorita Kagiri aru kara koso tsuyoku Utsukushiku hikaru Setsuna wo mitsuketa Doitsu shitsu ni tozasareta Utsuro na hibi ni Haji yume wo mita kimi ni furetai Sonna sonzai ni kidzuke kanai kimi wa Sayonara to aru ha itta Ikusen no tsukihi wo koe Mezameta tsumoru omoi wo Naze tsutaeru juu sae naku Miokuru koto shika Yuru sarete inai no Toozakaru kage No way to tell you my heart Semete ima tsutae saete Kiseki ga hitotsubu no namida Egao no to eien to hikikae ni Trivia ------ Taken from beatmania IIDX 10th Style, this is officially Terra's 4th song as a duo (although they have produced other songs before this with various third- parties involved in the creative process). Although similar in style to the first 3 songs, the popularity of Doll has made it the group's defining song. Songs they had written before this are now said to 'sound a lot like Doll' ^^; The video that plays in the background is taken from beatmania IIDX 10th Style. Although produced specifically for the song, the video is part of a series of movies in which Konami artist 'Goli' draws the beatmania IIDX mascots in various settings typical of Japanese cartoons. Previously, Goli has also produced a similar movie for the song 'Love Shine' in a previous IIDX game, in which the mascots were depicted as school children. An extended version of this song is featured on Terra's album 'Revolution' 170 BPM [Revival Track - BeMani Transplant Duration 1:41] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 4 / Difficult 6 / Expert 8 / Challenge 9] Double [ Basic 4 / Difficult 6 / Expert 9 / Challenge 9] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Graduation Composed by : Naoki Maeda Lyrics : Noria Shiraishi, Riyu Kosaka, Yoma Komatsu, Shiyuna Maehara Vocals : Noria Shiraishi, Riyu Kosaka, Yoma Komatsu, Shiyuna Maehara Debut : DDR Extreme Origin : DDR Extreme Available on : DDR Extreme OST, BeForU - BeForU Lyrics ------ Kizu tsuita toki ano namida mo sotto Usurete itta Furikaettara itsu demo jibun no ibasho ga atta kara ka na Aruite yukou Te wo nigitte sou Itsu mo sou datta nani ga atte mo Shinjiteta massugu ni Mitsumeteta tooi basho wo Donna toki demo Hisshi ni natte Wakaranakute Nayande dore mo taisetsu na kioku Da-ka-ra kakegae no nai sonna hibi wo Kitto wasurenai Sorezore no michi arumu to shite mo Aruite yukou Ashita mitsukeyou Ima kara atarashii sutaato kitte shinjiyou Massugu ni Itsu ka no tooi basho made Trivia ------ In DDR extreme, the song has a japanese subtitle, roughly translating to 'Graduation (Our New Tomorrow)' This was the first song announced for DDR Extreme, via a mock newspaper column on Konami's website. Graduation was written by Naoki after he was made aware that the DDR series was being cancelled, and that DDR Extreme would be the final arcade release. The title is a metaphor, as the song symbolises the ending of the DDR series, but also the bright new future that the series has given to all the people involved. After completing work on DDR Extreme, Naoki and BeForU released an acclaimed album. Riyu Kosaka launched a solo career and released an album featuring cover versions of songs from the DDR series. Naoki was moved to the Pop'n Music sound team, and begun producing music with Jun, thus forming the group 'Terra', and producing some of the most celebrated songs in the BeMani series. 120 BPM [Revival Track Duration 1:20] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 2 / Difficult 4 / Expert 6] Double [ Basic 2 / Difficult 5 / Expert 7] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hit 'n' Slap Composed by : Saito Isao Lyrics : Saito Isao Vocals : Saito Isao DDR Debut : DDR Ultramix 2 Origin : beatmania The Final Available on : beatmania The Final OST Lyrics ------ Comingg at ya I'm-a slap on my center, wave your dick Been awakening, etch I'm coming for - must be a way You can sweat - because of april first Inbetween, be Dre, who the rough-most gatcha Control, you're messing 'round, swing, you make up Hit to the script, there's a line of cocain Brooklyn best, to the beats coming at ya Don't you dropkick the state - Where's the end I'm-a slap on my center, wave your dick Hit to the slap, to the maximum You no doubt, outta throw Coming close with the end Hit to the slap, to the maximum You walking in, pack it in To the fists coming at ya Coming at ya Drop to drop Keep it spinning, where's the end Coming at ya Yeah, at a throw, coming through Been awakening, etch I'm coming for - must be a way You can sweat - because of april first Inbetween, be Dre, who the rough-most gatcha Control, you're messing 'round, swing, you make up Hit to the slap, to the maximum You no doubt, outta throw Coming close to the end Hit to the slap, to the maximum You walking in, pack it in To the fists coming at ya Coming at ya Trivia ------ Saito has never posted the lyrics to the song anywhere, so I'm not sure if it's actually complete gibberish, or a series of phrases he's taken from english hip-hop songs, and strung together, without knowing what they really mean. This song does not appear in the DDR SuperNOVA arcade machine. 103 BPM [BeMani Transplant Duration 1:20] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 2 / Difficult 4 / Expert 6] Double [ Basic / Difficult / Expert ] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- iFuturelist Composed by : Akira Yamaoka Lyrics : Akira Yamaoka Vocals : Debut : DDR Strike Origin : beatmania IIDX DistorteD Available on : beatmania IIDX DistorteD OST, Akira Yamaoka - iFuturelist Lyrics ------ You came to fight - chi ni somaru daichi ni Hate me crash - tenshi no kubi wo Kill you fight - tsurugi ni ikari wo And you die - omae ni ataeru Fight back - uchi otose Fight back - habataku tenshi no tsubasa megakete ubae Fight back - kuchihatete Fight back - ikinu Fight back - kono megami wo idaite nemure Trivia ------ The title is pronounced "e-future-ist". The song's lyrics are incredibly surreal and agressive, instructing listeners to worship chaos, embrace darkness, and 'die the land in blood'. The second verse describes the killing of an angel, by tearing it's wings from it's back, and 'letting it rot away and die'. The song has it's own music video, in which 'iFuturelist' is a poticial movement. In the video, a man dressed in black leather biker/bondage gear (traditionaly associated with the homosexual movement in japan) stands infront of the group's banner, and shouts the lyrics to the song, as a passionate political speach. The video has a very dark tone, and often cuts to images of the group's flag being agressively waved at the camera. The song's video exists in beta copies of the arcade game, but was removed from the game before it's commercial release. Although the song itself is more violent and agressive than the video, the homo-erotic images, combined with themes of revolution and agression could have been considered too harsh for a lovely happy dancing game ^^; The song was written for beatmania IIDX DistorteD, and was one of the first playable songs in beta copies of the game. While Distorted was in production, Konami included the song as a 'BeMani Transplant' in DDR Strike. It was playable in both DDR Strike and DDR SuperNOVA, before DistorteD was finally released. 150 BPM [Revival Track - BeMani Transplant Duration 1:42] Single [Beginner 1 / Basic 4 / Difficult 6 / Expert 8 / Challenge 9] Double [ Basic 4 / Difficult 6 / Expert 8 / Challenge 9] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ki-Se-Ki Composed by : Naoki Maeda Lyrics : Junko Karashima Vocals : Noria Shiraishi, Sayaka Minami, Lisa Sotohana, Riyu Kosaka, Yoma Komatsu Debut : DDR Festival Origin : beatmania IIDX RED Available on : beatmania IIDX RED OST, BeForU - BeForU II, BeForU - Ki-Se-Ki (single) Lyrics ------ Ookiku nani ka ga ugoki dashiteiru Mou sude ni nani ka ga hajimatteta Hitomi no oku ni mieta Kasunderu keshiki ni ha Sorezore no hana ga saku Unmei wo kimeru hana Ima koso aratana tobira wo hiraku toki Soko ni ha watashi ga iru Aratana sekai ga aru Shinjiteta sono kiseki ha Mabushiku kagayaki tsuzukeru Hitosuji no hikari ha unmei no michi shirube Inochi wo fukikaeshita Kiseki no hana wo mitsuketara Umare kawareru koto Utsukushisa no imi ga wakaru Ima wo ikiru subete no mono aruki tsuzukete iku... shiranu uchi ni "mayoi" ha kie harukana mirai he to.... anata ni mo saku toki ha kuru unmei no hana kiseki ha tazunere soshite kagayaiteiku darou Trivia ------ The song's name translates to english as 'Mi-Ra-Cle' This was the first new song to be recorded since Shiyuna Maehara left the group, and was replaced with 3 new members. The new group was original called 'BeForU NEXT', but are refered to simply as 'BeForU' in the music video. Most BeMani games seem to alternate between refering to the group as BeForU, and as BeForU NEXT. Ki-Se-Ki was released on CD and DVD singles. The CD features an extended version of the song, an instrumental, and also new versions of Graduation and Firerly, re-recorded with to replace Shiyuna's lines with those of the new members. The DVD features interviews with all 6 members (and Naoki), filmed in a tokyo arcade. At various points in the interviews, they all play the various BeMani games scattered around the arcade. 155 BPM [Revival Track - BeMani Transplant Duration 1:46] Single [ Beginner 1 / Basic 5 / Difficult 7 / Expert 8] Double [ Basic 4 / Difficult 7 / Expert 8] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Least 100 Sec Composed by : Hirofumi Sasaki Debut : DDR Extreme Origin : beatmania The Final Available on : beatmania The Final OST, Guitar Freaks 5 & Drummania 4 OST Trivia ------ The song does indeed last for exactly 100 seconds, although only 95 seconds are actually played by the player, and the recording contains 1 second of silence. Although it first appeared in beatmania, this song was specificaly written for Guitar Freaks, Drummania and Keyboard Mania. By combining 3 machiens from the same generation, the song can be played in 'session mode', with the guitar, drum and keyboard sections of the song each being played in real-time by a seperate player. The song is most famous for it's Drummania incarnation, in which is it listed as the hardest song in the series at 'lvl 99'. The song is is played on a keyboard, guitar, bass guitar and drum. When the song was recorded, the first 3 parts were recorded live, and then sampled into the game. The drums in the song were programmed using a computer, due to the difficulty of getting anybody to play the section flawlessly in realtime. When Konami announced an online vote to determine which BeMani Transplant songs should be included in DDR Extreme, The Least 100 Sec and Across The Nightmare were touted as popular 'joke' entries, by members of western message boards, as both songs contain notes too fast to be realisticaly played as a DDR song. As it turns out, both songs were included in DDR Extreme, although both contain entirely abstract steps, which bear little resemblance to the music, or the steps/notes used in previous BeMani titles. An extended version of the song exists, titled 'The Least 333 Seconds'. 200-263 BPM [Revival Track - BeMani Transplant Duration 1:40] Single [ Beginner 3 / Basic 5 / Difficult 7 / Expert 8] Double [ Basic 5 / Difficult 8 / Expert 8] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.E Boss Songs 5.F Production BGM [coming soon] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.0 Special Thanks Kongouryoku - Most (if not all) japanese and romanised lyrics.
