See my Expert FAQ or Secrets FAQ for details on it. Version 0.2 12/12/99: I haven't done much, since I covered about everything there is, so I just added two things to the Special Thanks section. But I did add a new 'Moves' Damage' section. Similar to the 'Move Analysis' section of my Raekwon and Method Man, as well as my Ehrgeiz character guides, Guides, this section lists the damage for each move, but it doesn't have a move analysis. I was also asked another question by some people about my high scores and stuff. Check that out in the Frequently Asked Questions section. It seems I'm not getting any mail relating to stuff I need, I just get people asking me for the Parental Lockout Code, secrets, or telling me how excellent I have done with these FAQs, even telling me things that are already in my FAQs as well. (General Details) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Now, I don't know everything about this game, or even individual characters. If you want to know, I'm still trying to find out all of Chang Dao Fu's moves, I'm missing quite a few. If you want to help with it, then just E-mail me. Okay, this game is a [up to] four-player fighting game. It's based on the fighting engine of Thrill Kill, which was being made quite a while back. Each character has their own unique strengths and weaknesses. There are a lot of secrets to get, and to get those secrets, you have to play through the Story Mode with every single character and get all of the Chambers (36 of them). This guide is just for one character: Chang Dao Fu. ________________________________________________________________________ Part 3: Legend ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Controls: UL U UR Up-Left Up Up-Right \ | / L -- N -- R Left Neutral Right / | \ DL D DR Down-Left Down Down-Right CR Crouch BL Block P1 Punch 1 P2 Punch 2 X Kick 1 O Kick 2 F Forward D Down B Back U Up Dash tap in any direction twice (F, D, B, or U) @ unofficial name (I made it up) # then (move on to different move, same as -->) ODB Ol' Dirty Bastard (the character) OTG Off the ground [] Square (or Box, as some people call it) /\ Triangle (rA) Rising Attack: a rising attack is an attack done when rising from crouch (check out the Basics section for more) Default 1 Button Setup Default 2 Button Setup ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Punch 1 [] (Square) Punch 1 [] (Square) Punch 2 /\ (Triangle) Punch 2 X Kick 1 X Kick 1 /\ (Triangle) Kick 2 O Kick 2 O Crouch L2 Crouch L1 Block L1 Block L2 Default 3 Button Setup Default 4 Button Setup ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Punch 1 [] (Square) Punch 1 [] (Square) Punch 2 /\ (Triangle) Punch 2 X Kick 1 X Kick 1 /\ (Triangle) Kick 2 O Kick 2 O Crouch R2 Crouch R1 Block R1 Block R2 My Custom Button Setup Custom Button Setup* ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Punch 1 [] (Square) Punch 1 Punch 2 /\ (Triangle) Punch 2 Kick 1 X Kick 1 Kick 2 O Kick 2 Crouch L1 Crouch Block R1 Block *Unknown, you set up the buttons yourself. Now, you'll need some basic knowledge of this game. You can find some of it in the Basics section of this FAQ. You will also need some basic survival tips. If you want to learn the hard way, which I had to, then you'll play through Story Mode and find out yourself, if not, I'll tell you some tips. - Evasion: you'll need to avoid enemy attacks, especially when they jump you, as well as Raged and/or cheap enemies - Defense: you'll need to block a lot, especially when you're getting jumped or fighting against a Raged enemy; block until they're open then attack them with something quick and strong that'll knock them down - Offense: you'll need to attack a lot as well, but be careful with what attacks you use, don't risk doing a high-powered, slow move that would leave you open for a wide period of time, otherwise you can get killed; also, if you fight against someone who just keeps on blocking forever, keep doing really, really quick attacks (quick start up and recovery) and just do that forever, if that doesn't work... - Throwing: throw them, if you're fighting against someone who just loves to block and waits for an opportunity to attack, then just throw them while they're blocking, that'll teach 'em - Sneaking Up: if you're on a team, try sneaking up behind an enemy and attack/throw them to give an opportunity for your partner(s) to attack Survival Tips: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ If you really want some survival tips, they're above. To have individual survival tips for each character, just play through Story Mode with each character. You'll learn what it takes to survive with the character you are using. I can't really help you out here, except with Chang Dao Fu. But they can be described above and throughout the Story Mode Walkthrough. Although you can't play Story Mode using the rivals, you can use the original character since the rivals are similar to them. Mix-Ups and Juggles: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Mix-Ups...what the freak is that!? Well, if you read one of my Ehrgeiz Character Guides, you'd know what it is. A mix-up...is exactly what it is, a mix-up. You have some moves that you trade off between that have different start up and recovery times that might trick your opponent into doing something you can attack them. You "mix" between them and you should be able to attack your opponent if you use it correctly. As for juggling, Chang Dao Fu is pretty good, and you should be able to think of some your own and if you think it's worthy/good enough, send it to me and I'll think about it. If I already know it, then I won't list it, maybe I will. It depends on what I feel like doing. ________________________________________________________________________ Part 6: Moves' Damage ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ In this section, I shall give the damage for each hit of each move in its corresponding order. Damage may vary depending on position of your character and your opponent. The damage of each move is based on normal damage, no Rage, and done with the opponent trapped against the wall. Number of hits may vary as well if not done with the opponent trapped against the wall. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ___________________ |Using Chang Dao Fu:| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ She's almost exactly like Method Man. Most of the stuff in here is from Method Man. _____________________ |Close-Range Fighting:| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Chang Dao has a lot of great close-range attacks. Follow the standing P1 with: ============================ 1. P1 (delay) 2. K2 3. P2 (to P2 links) 4. F+P1 (to F+P1 links) 5. Quick Launcher 6. F+P1+P2 7. Crouch+P1 or P2 8. Crouch+K1 or K2 9. Grab ______________________ |Medium-Range Fighting:| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Chang Dao only has medium-range attacks because he has a weapon, a spear. But it's the same thing as close-range though, except some of the attacks are close-range. Follow the standing D, F+P1+P2 with: ==================================== 1. F+P1 (to F+P1 links) 2. B, D, F+P2 3. F+P1+P2 4. rising K2 5. Crouch+P1 or P2 6. Crouch+K1 or K2 7. Grab ____________________ |Long-Range Fighting:| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Chang Dao's long-range attacks leave him open during the execution, but most opponents don't even think about countering it. He doesn't have many long-range attacks though. Follow the standing D, F+K1 with: ================================= 1. K2 2. D, F+K1 (to D, F+K1 links) 3. F+P1 (to F+P1 links) 4. F+P1+P2 5. Grab __________________ |Crouching Attacks:| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Use CR+K2 against standing/grounded opponents. The other crouching attacks are fine, but not against standing/grounded opponents. _______________________________ |Countering Opponent's Mistakes:| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It's possible for Chang Dao to counter opponent's mistakes, but if you choose the wrong attack to counter with, you may be punished yourself. It isn't always possible to counter with a close-range attack, simply because they are really close-range. You can do a fake counter (such as P1), they block it and expect you to follow up with some attack, but you just delay and go into some "...Counter Stance." The one you should use is the regular Counter Stance (F+P1+P2). ______________ |Miscellaneous:| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ You can use Chang Dao's Blazing Uppercut after a blocked attack and it just might connect. You must take risks with Chang Dao since it's sometimes easy to catch what kind of attack Chang Dao could do. Take it easy and touch up on your skills. Now, if you haven't figured it out already, Chang Dao Fu is the only other character with an infinite OTG (it's Method Man's originally). You just need to knock down your opponent, get next to them, hold crouch and keep pushing K1 until they die. This works effectively against computer since they never Tech Roll, but against a human, well, they can Tech Roll out of it really easily. So if you're having some trouble against computer, then don't have any fear in using his infinite OTG. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ _____________________ |Against Chang Dao Fu:| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Watch out against his delay and attack stuff. To make sure he won't do it again, just Counter his stuff constantly or attack him with P1 once he stops any attack. You might be hit, but he may also be hit. He will try to grab you, so try to grab him first. ________________________________________________________________________ Part 8: Basics ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ If you don't know how to move, block, crouch, and/or attack, then you need some common sense and/or knowledge. Well, here are some basic stuff you can do. Dash: To dash, push in any direction twice on the D-Pad/Joystick Tech Roll: When you are knocked into the air, right before your body lands on the ground push the [Block] button (you can hold it if you wish) Blocking: If you stand in a neutral position, you will automatically block high and middle attacks. To block low attacks, you must crouch and hold block. You can also just hold block as a backup, but sometimes its better to stand neutrally. Flip Up: When you are on the ground, push the [Block] button and you'll flip up. Activate Rage Meter: When your Rage Meter (the red power bar under the green one) is full, push all attack buttons simultaneously, damage you do is now doubled. Roll: When you are on the ground, you can roll in four different directions. Which direction you roll is relative to the camera angle, so when you push Up, it might be a forward/back roll or a side roll. The same thing with the other directions. Wake-Up Attacks: When you are on the ground, you can push one of the attack buttons to get up and attack. Rising Attacks: To do a rising attack, you must be crouching. Let go of the crouch button and right after letting go, push an attack button, that is a rising attack. But only some attacks differ when it's a rising attack. Juggling: The opponent can only be launched three times, including the original launcher. So you can only relaunch twice during a juggle, then there's an opportunity to do an OTG anytime during the juggle. Miscellaneous Stuff: For moves that require you to push a direction (L, R, U, or D), you can change the direction of each movement to its opposite (L with R, U with D) and do the move like that and it'll still come out normally. Also, if you hit the opponent while they are on the ground, the damage they take is reduced a lot. ________________________________________________________________________ Part 9: Frequently Asked Questions ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 1. What is your best record with any character for each type of record? ___________ |Story Mode:| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Character Rank Streak Continues Time Chambers Got ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Raekwon Abbot 16 none 00:17:10 ALL ____________ |Time Attack:| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Character Time Defeated Stages Chambers Received ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Raekwon 00:17:10:35 ALL ALL The other records don't matter. I played through all of the stages, never continued, never played the same stage more than once, and got all of the chambers. I wonder what I'd get if I skipped all of the bonus stages...for Time Attack. 2. What's the Parental Lockout Code? The Parental Lockout Code is... /\ O X X [] /\ O [] If you think I copied PRevolution's FAQ, I didn't. I bought this game the day after it came out. Be forewarned, if you already have secrets for the game without the Parental Lockout Code, then you can't have the Memory Card with your file in Slot 1, otherwise it would load that data and you'd never get a chance to put the code in. If you put the code in, then you'll be losing the stuff you earned. It's on you. These paragraphs below are of my previous response. Sorry, I'm not going to tell you. If you don't have the instruction manual, then it could mean you got the game illegally, even if you didn't, so I'm not going to tell you. I want to respect what Paradox Entertainment did, and that's not distributing the code to whoever doesn't have the manual. It wouldn't be fair to people who had to get the instruction manual. If you got a burn of this game, well, that's just how it is for you, isn't it? Actually, if you want the code, check out the GameFAQs Message Board. 3. What are some of your "best" juggles? Like I said before, I'm not going to tell my secrets to the whole world. I did that once with Ehrgeiz, and I'm not going to do it again.
