The first (Syphon Filter) game is pretty much the exact same as the second, with 2 having slight improvements here and there, and an expansion on weapons, and character manoeuvres. 989 Studios, who have an extensive collection of games, especially sports, developed both Syphon Filter 1 and 2. Take a look at their web page: http://www.989studios.com ========================================================= --------------------{Revision History}------------------- ========================================================= ======================= Version 1.0 (10/04/01): ======================= -> First non-beta version of guide. First release. ======================= Version 1.1 (20/04/01): ======================= -> Well, since this was my first FAQ, I was none to sure of how the end product would look like on GameFAQs. So, I have now changed the things that were "not great", and it looks better now. ^_^ ========================================================= ----------------------{Weapons Guide}-------------------- ========================================================= Well here we go with the fun stuff. All of the information found below is courtesy of 989 Studios, with the exception of the "personal opinions"... DUH! Before we continue, a little example of the information listed for each weapons. ============== Custom Weapon: ============== {Information extracted from instruction manual} *Note* All of the ratings of the weapons mentioned below are ranged weapons mentioned below are ranged from 1 to 5. With 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. This includes Fire Rate, Damage, Fun Factor, and Looks. Fire Rate : [][][] –How quickly the chosen weapon can fire Damage : [][][] –The severity of the damage the weapon can do Clip Size : 15 -The number of rounds per click for this specific weapon Max Rounds : 90 -The maximum amount of rounds you can carry at one for this gun Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: III -How fun I feel it is to use this weapon Looks : III -How I feel about the looks of the weapon {My personal comments about the specific weapon} *Note* All of the ratings of the weapons mentioned below are ranged from 1 to 5. With 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. This includes Fire Rate, Damage, Fun Factor, and Looks. ********** ============= Combat Knife: ============= This U.S. Marine weapon is designed for hand-to-hand combat. Use the knife when you want to eliminate an enemy quietly. Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIII Looks : I You will not believe how much fun it can be to sneak up behind a foe and slice their throat with a small knife until you have done so! Although fun to use, the Combat Knife is rather boring and ugly looking. ===================== 9mm Silenced Handgun: ===================== This standard military sidearm is an excellent short-range weapon. It's a lethal weapon in the hands of a trained professional. Fire Rate : [][][] Damage : [][] Clip Size : 15 Max Rounds : 90 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: I Looks : II Probably the most boring weapon in the game to use. Your basic pistol does nothing special, and on top of that it is nothing special to look at. ============ .45 Handgun: ============ Developed in the days of trench warfare, this 1911 vintage design is a double-action semi-auto weapon with strong recoil and tremendous stopping power. Fire Rate : [][] Damage : [][][] Clip Size : 10 Max Rounds : 60 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: III Looks : IIII These days you can't beat a weapon that looks like the Desert Eagle from Tomb Raider! (My fave gun ever!) And can you really say no to something that can make your most hated enemies fly into a wall?!? =================== M-16 Assault Rifle: =================== Standard issue for U.S. Military personnel, this combat proven lightweight weapon is accurate and easy to control. M-16s fire a specially designed small calibre, high velocity round. Fire Rate : [][][][] Damage : [][] Clip Size : 30 Max Rounds : 180 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: II Looks : III The good, old, everyday M16 Assault Rifle used for nailing bad guys the world over. Not the most exciting of guns to use, but it's a machine gun right?!? And, because it is a machine gun, it has to look/be reasonably cool. ==================== G-18 Machine Pistol: ==================== A furious 60 round per second fire rate makes this machine pistol the most lethal ever made. Note that the 33 round clip will be spent in 1/2 second of continuous fire. Don't get caught with an empty weapon. Fire Rate : [][][][][] Damage : [][] Clip Size : 33 Max Rounds : 198 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIIII Looks : IIII Wow!!! I love this gun! Quite possibly the best gun in the game for me. It is unbelievably fun to run at your enemy with this gun blazing 60 rounds/sec and completely wasting them. Also, the G-18 reminds my of an Uzi, and everyone knows what a cool gun the Uzi is! ===================== BIZ-2 Machine Pistol: ===================== This machine pistol is designed to maintain law and order in tight situations. The horizontal clip design keeps the weapon compact and easy to fire while holding enough ammo to pin down a platoon. Fire Rate : [][][][] Damage : [][][] Clip Size : 66 Max Rounds : 396 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIII Looks : III Another fun-to-use gun. Very good for taking out large amounts of enemies in a small amount of time. Due to it's high fire rate you can easily kill a whole army of bad guys. And it doesn't look half bad either, a tad futuristic if you ask me. ==================== HK-5 Machine Pistol: ==================== Favoured by special forces and terrorists alike for its compactness, the HK-5 is fast becoming the most popular machine pistol around. There are more than 23 customized variants and other customized versions, some fitted with silencers. Fire Rate : [][][][] Damage : [][][] Clip Size : 32 Max Rounds : 192 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIII Looks : II I like this gun too! Do you see a pattern developing? That is right, I seem to have a liking for machine guns. Speedy firing rate and a cause of great damage the HK-5 is fun to use. Shame about the looks though. ================= 12 Gauge Shotgun: ================= This fully choked version maximizes accuracy and minimizes collateral damage out to 25 yards. It is commonly issued to law enforcement, DEA and Secret Service agents. At close range, nothing you could carry hits harder. Fire Rate : [][] Damage : [][][][] Clip Size : N/A Max Rounds : 25 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIII Looks : III Average looking weapon, but with the firepower that it has, it really can be quite a pleasure to have in your inventory. Another weapon for splattering your enemy on a wall. ========================== UAS-12 Rapid Fire Shotgun: ========================== Delivers a pounding in close range combat against multiple targets. Collateral damage was not considered when developing this weapon. Fire Rate : [][] Damage : [][][][] Clip Size : N/A Max Rounds : 12 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIIII Looks : III The UAS-12 looks very similar to an old fashioned Tommy gun with an M16 barrel, rather an interesting design. Boy does this gun pack power; you could probably destroy a building with it! ===================== PK-102 Assault Rifle: ===================== This weapon is a variant of the popular Kalashnikov system (one of the most widely used and modified designs in the world). This is a full- featured assault rifle, but is easy to conceal which makes it popular with terrorists. Fire Rate : [][][][] Damage : [][] Clip Size : 30 Max Rounds : 180 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIII Looks : II Lacking a wee bit in the looks category, the PK-102 just looks like every other Russian gun. Aside from that set back, it is in fact, as are most machine guns, very fun to use. =================== K3G4 Assault Rifle: =================== High fire rate and Teflon coated bullets designed to punch through most flak jackets make this a weapon to fear and respect. Fire Rate : [][][][] Damage : [][] Clip Size : 20 Max Rounds : 120 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIII Looks : IIII Yay! Another gun that suits my taste. Yet another machine gun! With a pretty high fire rate, this gun would be very average, but for the decent damage that it causes, especially when multiple rounds are fired. An exceedingly enjoyable choice of weaponry, and it looks cool too! ================= H11 Sniper Rifle: ================= The H11 is a full auto-fire sniper rifle with a large clip and a non- zooming scope. It combines excellent accuracy with a punishing rate of fire. Fire Rate : [][][][][] Damage : [] Clip Size : 50 Max Rounds : 300 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIIII Looks : II A funny looking short-range sniper rifle. Upon close inspection the H11 really does closely resemble a TV camera. But with the extremely fast firing rate it is incredibly fun to zoom in on a target and just spray a barrage of bullets in their general direction. ============= Sniper Rifle: ============= This silenced rifle comes equipped with a classified digital scope using basic optical character recognition. It is capable of classifying human targets and identifying human impact points prior to firing. Fire Rate : [][] Damage : [][] Clip Size : 10 Max Rounds : 30 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: II Looks : II The only reason the Sniper Rifle doesn't have an even lower fun rating is because of the built in functions on the scope, which making picking of foes slightly more fun. Also the gun is rather ugly, which lowers my opinion of it. ================== Nightvision Rifle: ================== This rifle is capable of extreme accuracy. It is designed to strike moving, stationary or camouflaged targets from great distances without compromising the shooter's position. This model uses the SVDN2 night scope and silencer. Fire Rate : [] Damage : [][][] Clip Size : 10 Max Rounds : 30 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: III Looks : II "Why does the Nightvision have a higher fun rating than the Sniper Rifle?" I hear you cry. Well simply because your enemies don't have a hope in hell of getting you in the dark if you sit in the corner with the Nightvision Rifle and snipe em off. But, sadly, the weapon looks like a harpoon gun, which, I do believe, a Nightvision Rifle should not look like. ========= Crossbow: ========= Quieter than a silenced firearm, this is the weapon of choice for stealth operations. It fires a narcotics-laced bolt that can kill if fired at the head. In manual targeting mode, the laser provides excellent accuracy. Fire Rate : [] Damage : [][][][][] Clip Size : N/A Max Rounds : 5 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIII Looks : III New age and stealthy, the Crossbow is the most versatile weapon in the game. You have the choice between killing someone and merely putting them to sleep. The only disadvantage is the unbelievably slow firing rate. =========== Hand Taser: =========== This non-lethal weapon delivers 80,000 volts of neutral chaos and will drop a man instantly. Use the hand taser on people you want to incapacitate without harming. You must get very close to the target with this weapon and the element of surprise is crucial. It is best to blind-side the target. Fire Rate : [] Damage : [][][][][] Clip Size : N/A Max Rounds : Infinite Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: III Looks : III Looks can be very deceiving when it comes to tasers, they look perfectly innocent, but when you turn your back, they are there, ready to deliver a terrifying jolt of electricity through your body. It can be quite enthralling trying to sneak up on an enemy and tase them while they are looking the other way. ========== Air Taser: ========== Fire the CO2 powered air taser to lodge a probe into the target's body. A wire from the weapon to the probe delivers a 500,000-volt shock. Fire Rate : [] Damage : [][][][][] Clip Size : N/A Max Rounds : Infinite Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIIII Looks : III Whee! The only word to describe the Air Taser. Stand directly facing your foe and send a small probe flying towards their body and lodge it inside their body. Hold it there and watch em fry! Not many more fun things to do than that. Not really much to comment on concerning the looks rating, much the same as the Hand Taser. *Note* To "fry" the enemy, when the probe enters the targets' body hold Square, and wait for the flames! ^_^ =================== Incendiary Grenade: =================== Upon detonation, this incendiary weapon spreads ammonium perchlorate three meters outward from the blast point. It is instantly ignited by the explosion and quickly burns out, torching anyone within the blast area, but leaving minimum collateral damage. Fire Rate : [] Damage : [][][][][] Clip Size : N/A Max Rounds : 10 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIII Looks : III Nothing particularly special but does come in useful at certain parts of the game. Also, they can be quite good fun to use on a batch of unsuspecting guards. Not really much to say about the looks, just looks like an everyday grenade. ================== Nerve Gas Grenade: ================== Releases trace amounts of Soman nerve agent. After exposed targets are rendered unconscious, fatality follows in 15 minutes unless an antidote is administered. The gas dissipates swift for fast entry into the area. This will stun the agent for a brief moment if walked into. Fire Rate : [] Damage : [][][] Clip Size : N/A Max Rounds : 10 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: III Looks : III Just the same as the other grenades, can be slightly amusing to creep up behind a group of enemies and blow-em up, but, the downfall of the Nerve Gas grenades (in my opinion) is that nothing actually explodes... As for looks, well, read above. ====================== M-79 Grenade Launcher: ====================== This deadly single-shot, break-barrelled weapon was used in the Vietnam War and nicknamed the "Blooper." It fires 40mm high explosive grenades capable of more than 300 fragments within a five metre kill radius. Its range is up to 300 metres. Fire Rate : [] Damage : [][][][][] Clip Size : N/A Max Rounds : 15 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIIII Looks : III Can you say fun? I know I can! And fun is exactly what you get with the M-79. Fire this at an enemy and don't expect to find a trace of them afterwards. This thing literally blows objects to smithereens! Other than the slow reload time (which is to be expected) this weapon rocks. Looks rather similar to a shotgun with a hugely modified barrel, which can't be a bad thing. ============== C-4 Explosive: ============== Called plastic explosive, C-4 can be moulded and stuck to objects. It is then wired to a fuse and friction ignition device for detonation from a remote or protected position. Fire Rate : N/A Damage : [][][][][] Clip Size : N/A Max Rounds : N/A Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: IIII Looks : III Laying down some plastic explosive and waiting for some poor, unsuspecting bad guy, detonate the explosives, and watch your enemy feel some pain. Looks a bit like a mini HAM radio, other than that, no other looks to comment on. ================== Tear Gas Launcher: ================== Fires cartridges containing tactical CS riot agent. Use this weapon to create confusion in situations where the opposition cannot be attacked with lethal force. Fire Rate : [] Damage : [][][][][] Clip Size : N/A Max Rounds : 5 Personal Opinion: ----------------- Fun Factor: III Looks : IIII Not the most exhilarating of ways to "defeat" your foes. I say defeat, because the Tear Gas Launcher does not kill, it merely confuses the target/s. Although its functions may be slightly lacking, it does however look rather cool and funky. ********** Well that is the end of the main part of this guide. The only things to appear after this are the "Things To Come" section, and the "Credits" to those who helped me in the writing/editing of this guide. ========================================================= ---------------------{Things To Come}-------------------- ========================================================= Well this section is all about the other FAQS, Walkthroughs, and various other Guides that are in the books for development. (In chronological order) -> Final Fantasy 9 –Weapons/Character Guide -> Final Fantasy 8 -Character Guide -> Crash Bandicoot 3 –Boss Walkthrough -> Gran Turismo 2 –Track Guide/FAQ I hope to have this list completed by the en of June. But, by then more games will have been released, so one or two of them will most likely be bumped. Only time will tell... ========================================================= -------------------------{Credits}----------------------- ========================================================= This is the section where I thank people for things concerning this Guide. So people, who add things, make corrections etc, will be mentioned here. ~¤*¤~Myself: For being me, and taking the initiative to write this, my first Guide. ~¤*¤~Syphon Filter 2 Instruction Manual: For providing me with all of the weapon stats. ~¤*¤~Mike Cheung: (WPMike) Thanks a bunch for helping me spot errors, and for suggesting things to better this Guide.
