Alright all you readers out there, this is my first FAQ, so hopefully things
will run as smoothly as they should. I decided to create this FAQ on a bit of
a whim when I checked the SF board at random one day, and saw another revival
of interest in what has always been one of my favorite games. Despite all
the in-depth information that can be found, I realized that there had still yet
to be a guide on all the foes and beasties you face throughout this game, so I
decided to make one.
That said, this is just my first "edition" so to speak, which contains all
the basic information that people usually want when looking at enemies,
statistics, skills, items dropped, weaknesses, etc. In the future,
I intend to add individual defense stats for all enemies, which will
require searching through a lot of hex, as well as a hopefully complete
list of where most enemies can be found at any given point of the game.

I've decided it best to divide the creatures in the game by type, and then by
rank, as best as it could be done. Rank 1, followed by Rank 2, then 3, and so
on. After words are the unranked enemies of the same type, then the next
type. To explain the info, see here:

Rank--- The game's method of leveling up enemies with you. As you fight
battles, your battle rank will increase, and open you up to new, higher levels
of enemies. Rank goes from 1 to 9, and is sometimes called tier. Keep in
mind that not all enemies are contained within those nine. There are enemies
that are labeled as "Superior", which despite being misleading (Superior
enemies are often times weaker than their tiered counterparts), I've decided
to list as Rank - S. Clear cut boss enemies are also outside the nine, and
are labeled as Rank - B, for logical purposes.
Name--- Pretty self explanatory, this is what the creature is called. Due
to the fact that I translated a large portion of these from a Japanese site,
there may be slight differences, but I hope that these will be caught shortly,
and I am skimming through the list myself to be certain.
Type--- This is the organization of monsters within the game, it goes along
with Rank. Types include things like Birds, Giants, Undead, etc. Once again,
however, some enemies are exceptions to this rule, and are given no
classification by the game. In the case of these monsters, I've tried my
best to reason what they should be, and labeled them as such.
Skills--- This is a mostly complete list of all skills and attacks that said
enemy can use against your party, or for his own.
Status--- Just a heading for the stats of the enemies for organizational
purposes. The effect of some stats are still argued, so some information
written here could be incorrect.
HP--- Health Points, the amount of damage this particular enemy can handle
before it dies. This game uses a unique setup for event and boss battles
though, which will be explained later, but keep this in mind as numbers
seen for bosses might not be what you're really up against.
STR--- Strength, determines the amount of damage said monster does with
physical attacks.
QUI--- Quickness, determines when a monster takes his turn during the fight,
also affects dodge rate.
INT--- Intelligence, likely determines some amount of spell and ability
damage, not completely known.
WIL--- Will, or willpower, has some bearing on the length of status
effects on said enemy.
PSY--- Psychic, also likely determines spell damage, as well as damage
taken from spells.
VIT--- Vitality, higher vitality reduces physical damage, and possibly
shortens status effects.
CHA--- Charm, only known use is to increase the effect of healing based spells.
Resistances--- This is how it's labeled, as far as I know, but is a little
misleading. For the most part, this shows what said monster is strong against.
However, in the case the Undead and Mecs, it simply labels them as such, and
means that they can be affected by Undead and Mec only skills, respectively.
Also shows if the enemy has a shield.
Mystic Absorb--- Heading for the three mystic only skills. When said monster
is killed by Mystic Sword, Mystic Glove, and Mystic Boots respectively, the
using mystic will gain the listed skill, as well as the subheading of stats
listed here, added to their own current stats.
Items Received--- These are the items that can be gained from killing said
enemy.
Monster Absorb--- These are the abilities that can be gained by having a
friendly monster absorb this one after battle. Note that for mecs, it lists
the mec skills that can be gained by downloading with a friendly mec.
