-Introduction-


Gamers who were around during the Playstation's early days are aware that PSX
games originally came in "longbox" packaging.  Longboxes could be either
cardboard or plastic, although PSX games were usually found in cardboard
longboxes (as opposed to the plastic longboxes that contained Sega Saturn
games).  While Sega Saturn games were packaged in longboxes until the system's
premature demise, manufacturers of Playstation games quickly shifted to the
ordinary CD jewel cases that we know and love.  Cost and consumer preference
for the handier size were the likely reasons for the shift.

Thus, collectors of early Playstation games should understand that a "complete"
copy of these games may require the original longbox.  The following list
should help you identify those games that were originally sold in this
packaging.

Note that a number of these games were re-released later in jewel case
packaging.
