INVITATION TO DOOM! A year after the destruction of Gamma, a mysterious message arrives at Dr. Light's lab... "Good evening, Dr. Light. Allow me to introduce myself--I am Dr. Cossack. You may not have heard of me, but soon the world will know my name." "Over the years, you have been hailed as the greatest robot designer in the world, while my robotic creations have been totally ignored. I cannot allow this to continue. The world must be made aware of my genius!" "From my Siberian citadel, I've sent eight of my most powerful robots to destroy that titanium troublemaker, Mega Man. Once they have obliterated him, I will place his broken body on display for the entire world to see. Only then will I be allowed to take my place as the greatest robot designer of all time!" --Dr. Cossack =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 3) CONTROLS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section describes the basic controls. D-Pad -> (Left/Right) Move Mega Man (Up/Down) Climb ladder A -> Jump (Hold + Down) Slide B -> Fire weapon (Hold) Charge Mega Buster Start -> Bring up menu =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 4) WEAPONS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section is a general overview of Mega Man's weapons. ----------- Mega Buster ----------- Received From: N/A Mega Man 4 is the first MM game to introduce the Mega Buster! Aside from firing normal pellets, the weapon can be charged up to deal more damage. The big blast does as much harm as three pellets. ------------- Flash Stopper ------------- Received From: Bright Man Similar to Flash Man's Time Stopper. Enemies are frozen on the screen for several seconds, and you are allowed to attack in that duration. ---------- Rain Flush ---------- Received From: Toad Man Rain Flush releases a device that rains down acid. Hit everything on screen. ---------- Drill Bomb ---------- Received From: Drill Man Fires an explosive drill. Drill Bomb can be used to destroy certain barriers. ------------ Pharaoh Shot ------------ Received From: Pharaoh Shot The Pharaoh Shot is chargeable to do more harm. Unlike the Mega Buster, it can be fired at an angle. There's also a bug involved with this gun. When you charge Pharaoh Shot up and the big ball is above Mega Man, you can touch foes with it and damage them, at no energy cost! Then once you fire, Mega Man releases another charged shot. -------------- Ring Boomerang -------------- Received From: Ring Man Nothing special here. Mega Man shoots a ring that retracts. ------------ Dust Crusher ------------ Received From: Dust Man The Dust Crusher launces a piece of junk. When it impacts against a foe, the piece splits into four smaller parts. ------------ Dive Missile ------------ Received From: Dive Man A small missile that homes in on the nearest enemy. REALLY nice for nailing annoying robots. ------------- Skull Barrier ------------- Received From: Skull Man As you might guess, this weapon surrounds Mega Man in a barrier of skulls, which protects him from some projectiles. --------- Rush Coil --------- Received From: N/A Summons Rush in his spring transformation. Used for reaching high spots. ----------- Rush Marine ----------- Received From: Toad Man In this game, I've never honestly seen anywhere you will find much help from the Rush Marine. It enables Mega Man to move easier through water. -------- Rush Jet -------- Received From: Drill Man Rush appears in his jet form. The jet can only move forward, and then up or down. Unlike some of the other MM games, this Rush Jet doesn't deplete weapon energy as quickly. ---- Wire ---- How to Obtain: In Dive Man's stage, jump down the gap you encounter after the second whale robot. Maneuver yourself so you don't hit the spikes, and the Wire capsule will be found at the bottom. A fun weapon and useful in certain circumstances. Hold down Up and fire to attach Mega Man to the ceiling with a grappling hook. And in the process, you can exercise Mega Man's chin! Woohoo! ------- Balloon ------- How to Obtain: In Pharaoh Man's stage, hop across the very first hole you see and continue to the right to a hidden area. Reach the end to find the Balloon weapon. The Balloon is identical to Mega Man 2's Item-1 weapon. You can summon up to three balloon platforms that slowly rise. Consider this as an alternative to situations where Rush Jet and Rush Coil won't work. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 5) BOSS STRATEGIES ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Here are tips on the bosses... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.1] BOSS ORDER >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is my suggested order for taking on the Robot Masters. 1. Toad Man 2. Bright Man 3. Pharaoh Man 4. Ring Man 5. Dust Man 6. Skull Man 7. Dive Man 8. Drill Man <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.2] TELEPORTER LAYOUT >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is a "map" of the teleporter room you encounter in Dr. Wily's castle. ___ ___ | | | | 1. Drill Man | 1 | | 8 | 2. Bright Man |___| |___| 3. Skull Man | | | | 4. Dive Man | 2 | | 7 | 5. Toad Man |___| ___ ___ |___| 6. Dust Man | | | | | | | 7. Ring Man | 3 | | 4 | 5 | | 6 | 8. Pharaoh Man |___| |___|___| |___| <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.3] ROBOT MASTERS >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -------- Toad Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster / Drill Bomb Receive: Rain Flush, Rush Marine As long as you keep firing at Toad Man, you will not have to put up with his annoying Rain Flush attack. If you stand close enough to him when you shoot, he will jump over you everytime he takes damage. In that case, just slide/ walk under Toad Man, and shoot him again once he lands. Repeat! ---------- Bright Man ---------- Recommended Weapon(s): Rain Flush Receive: Flash Stopper If you intend to use Rain Flush, make sure it's full! If it isn't, there is not enough energy to defeat Bright Man with it. One interesting item to note is that this Robot Master does not walk; he moves only by leaping. So, sliding will help greatly here. Ocassionally, Bright Man uses his Flash Stopper to freeze and shoot up Mega Man. The freeze effect does wear off after a while, though. You might get lucky and not take any damage at all! ----------- Pharaoh Man ----------- Recommended Weapon(s): Flash Stopper Receive: Pharaoh Shot You must be pathetic player if you can't beat this guy with Flash Stopper... Each use of the weapon freezes Pharaoh Man for about five seconds. During that time, fire away. Continue doing so until he goes kablooey. -------- Ring Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Pharaoh Shot Receive: Ring Boomerang Use charged Pharaoh Shot rounds to slay Ring Man quicker. Five hits like that will do him in. You can also exploit the weapon bug (see the Weapons section for further details) to conserve weapon energy, though I doubt you'll need to resort to that. Dodging the Ring Boomerangs requires nimble moves, but chances are Ring Man will be long gone before he can do harm to Mega Man. -------- Dust Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Ring Boomerang Receive: Dust Crusher I don't foresee any trouble with Dust Man. Obviously, don't stand still when he's using his vacuum. If you at least run in the opposite direction, you will escape. --------- Skull Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): Dust Crusher Receive: Skull Barrier Skull Man is a bit trickier than the past bosses, mainly due to the fact Mega Man takes a LOT of damage simply by touching Skull Man. He's fast, too, which makes the situation even more difficult. If possible, it's better to take a shot from his arm cannon than let Skull Man bump into Mega Man. Whenever he turns on his Skull Barrier, your Dust Crusher cannot penetrate it. But at the same time, Skull Man doesn't move nor attack. I suppose you can say the shield is more for show than anything else. -------- Dive Man -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Skull Barrier Receive: Dive Missile Easy! Naturally, Dive Man's lair is underwater. So, you can jump higher and be able to dodge the boss with little trouble. Always keep the shield activated, and you will be alright. --------- Drill Man --------- Recommended Weapon(s): Dive Missile Receive: Drill Bomb, Rush Jet Drill Man's tunneling will be a major obstacle if you're careless. Just simple pacing from wall-to-wall remedies it. After he pops out of the ground, keep launching missiles! Depending on how long he stays out of the dirt, you may be able to defeat him before he tunnels a second time. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.4] DR. COSSACK >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -------- Moth Bot -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Ring Boomerang Despite its overwhelming size, this moth is a pushover. Watch out for its tail, as it can permaneantly destroy a portion of the floor. The slow-moving plasma shots it fires are hardly a concern. Shoot Ring Boomerangs at the flashing light near the tail. -------- Cell Bot -------- Recommended Weapon(s): Dust Crusher This boss is rather...unique. Three pieces of the entire robot move across the screen. To avoid taking any damage, slide under the bottom piece. Eventually, they greatly slow down and form a cell. Inside the cell are two elevator platforms and a flashing light that shoots projectiles. You have to stand on top of the bottom portion before the entire cell "locks" to actually get in the thing. When you're inside, ride a platform and hit the light with the Dust Crusher. --------- Wall Bots --------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster This robot is easy enough using only the Mega Buster. The first bot only slides side-to-side on the ceiling. Jump up and shoot charged Mega Buster rounds into it. The pellets it fires travel slowly, giving you plenty of time to react. Once it is destroyed, a second robot appears. This one moves faster and climbs on all four walls. Again, use the Buster. ----------- Dr. Cossack ----------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster The most obvious tip I can give is...AVOID THE CLAW! If you can do at least that, you're safe. Slide under Dr. Cossack's ship to pass it. The claw does a good bit of harm to Mega Man. Try to stay on the upper part of the battlefield, and hit him with charged Mega Buster shots there. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<< [5.5] DR. WILY >>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> --------- Giant Met --------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster It looks like the Mets have decided to get back at Mega Man! To make this battle *much* easier, jump before the Met lands on the ground. If you stay on the ground, Mega Man will be stunned for a few crucial seconds. Even one mistake can cause you to fail and die. Four smaller Mets appear every time their bigger brother hits the floor. Unfortunately, it seems these Mets do not provide any sort of energy capsules when destroyed. ------------ Platform Bot ------------ Recommended Weapon(s): Ring Boomerang There's really nothing new here... Use the platforms to get close enough to the robot to hit it with the Ring Boomerang. Stand in the very middle of the platforms so that if Mega Man takes a hit, he won't get knocked off. ---------------------------- Dr. Wily's Ship (First Form) ---------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Ring Boomerang Dr. Wily fires a salvo of three shots of plasma at Mega Man at a time. These shots either move straight ahead or at a angle, depending on where Mega Man is standing. It's best to shoot inbetween attacks. ----------------------------- Dr. Wily's Ship (Second Form) ----------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Mega Buster This is probably the hardest battle. You have to fire charged Mega Buster shots at the small blue light on Wily's ship. And you have to fire when Mega Man is at his highest jump point. If you don't, then the shot misses. On top of that, you must dodge the plasma rounds! Chances are you will need to use E-Tanks for this. ---------------------------- Dr. Wily's Ship (Third Form) ---------------------------- Recommended Weapon(s): Pharaoh Shot Right before Wily appears in his saucer, a ball of electricity flies at Mega Man. Wily's location is then revealed for a split second. You only have a *very* short amount of time to hit Wily before he vanishes. The Pharaoh Shot is the best weapon to use, and it can be fired at angle. That helps to speed this up. One strategy is to charge up the Pharaoh Shot and just run around and jump to hit Wily. Though it may be a bit reckless, you will probably have an easier chance to actually hit the evil scientist. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= =~ 6) PASSWORDS ~= =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= This section lists several passwords for your use.
