LUNAR: Silver Star Story COMPLETE DEMO CD Strategy Guide version 2.0 submitted on 4/21/99 by WereNinja (WereNinja@aol.com) Table of Contents ----------------- 1. Preface 2. Battle Tactics 3. Tips/Small Info 4. Walkthrough PREFACE ------- I will try to keep this short and sweet. This is my first game guide ever, so please e-mail me with suggestions for future updates. The LUNAR: SSSC demo should have all the features of the first few hours of the full game (at least Working Designs says so). I prefer not to give maps of the dungeons because they are fun to explore and don't really need an in-depth glance. Look for my guide for the full game when it is released. Thanks! BATTLE TACTICS -------------- Whether or not you master this will determine your success in the game. Notice in the field menu how you can change your position in battle. Keep weak defense/long range attack people in the back and strong defense/short range attack people in the front. Arrange your formation according to how the enemies of the area you are fighting in move per round. For example, set up Alex's position just far enough so that he can attack one enemy without being hit by other enemies. It takes practice. Always keep an eye on the characters' HP. I heal them if they fall below halfway. Only use attack spells on enemies if more than two attacks won't kill them. Learn the traits of the enemies so you will know their weaknesses in future fights. TIPS/INFO --------- >There is no way to unlock the red chests in the demo. You will have to wait until the full game to get what you need to unlock them. >Working Designs purposely set the level limit to 12. Now how are we supposed to pass the time til it comes out? ^_^ >Items are basically useless. Have Luna heal with magic instead of using a Herb. Antidotes aren't worth getting because the battles they are used in are generally short. >Don't use your only Starlight until possibly the boss battle. You may need it then more than some dungeon. >Don't skip talking to people just because it's repetitive. WD spent a lot of time doing the text just right. You'll laugh a whole lot! WALKTHROUGH ----------- _Burg_(part 1) Alex is approached by Nall and then Ramus at Dyne's memorial. Explore Burg a little bit and then head over to the spring where you will find Luna. Go to Alex's house and ask his dad for permission to go to the Dragon's Cave. Remember to get the items in the basement. Ramus will be waiting for you at the entrance to Burg. Talk to him and leave for the Cave. _The White Dragon's Cave_ Enemies in here are very hard but it gives a good introduction to the battle system. Work your way around until you come to Quark. He restores your HP and MP. Now you have to find the Dragon Ring. Get your characters to at least Level 7 before trying to find it. It's a good idea to go back to town to buy good armor and weapons and also to restore your HP/MP. Come out of the room and go to the left and into the door. Here's a tricky part. You must get the baboons to break the ice so you can continue. Get behind an ice block, jump out, and distract the baboon so he charges towards you. Whatever you do, don't kill the baboons! They will disappear from the screen and you will have to start from the beginning of the dungeon again. If a block is in his way, he'll destroy it. Repeat this until you find the Ring (it's surrounded by ice). Go back to Quark, then go back to town. _Burg_(part 2) Try to sell the diamond at the items store. Buy the best equipment possible and talk to Alex's parents. Then head for the Weird Woods. _The Weird Woods_ The first time you go in here, Ramus almost pukes and runs away. The second time, Luna sings to make the fog go away. Make sure you have top-notch equipment before going in here. Almost all enemies use poison attacks, so watch out. Explore until you're surrounded by monsters. A man comes out to help you. If you don't accept his help, you're toast! Later, he reveals himself as Laike. The next morning, leave the Woods and head south to Saith. _Saith_(part 1) This is the final city you encounter on the demo. Stock up on good weapons and armor (you'll need it). Go inside the bar and talk to the captain about the map. If he won't say anything at first, try talking to some of the sailors and then try him again. It seems the sea chart for the voyage to Meribia was gambled away to Brett. Find Brett and play his coin game. When you find out his trick, he explains that the chart is now in the hands of an old hag that lives north of Saith. That's where you have to go. _Old Hag's House_ Before you can talk to her, you have to go through a forest maze. When you go to the top and find Nash, let him in your party. Meet the hag and let Luna convince Nash to trade the cane for the chart. Head back to Saith. _Saith_(part 2) The captain is ready to go, but a monster is eating the ship! Guess what? You have to fight it! --- BOSS: Giant Slime This guy took me four tries to beat. Make sure your guys are at least Level 12 before fighting it. Use Sword Dance and Thunder Wave every round and attack with Ramus. Have Luna cast Cascade on Alex at least once and keep a sharp eye on HP. Eventually, the blob will die. --- With that taken care of, the party prepares to leave. When Alex and Nall are left under your control (when you can move them), save the game. You don't have to do this, but it is really cool to watch the Lunar preview at the end of the demo over and over! Talk to Luna and you will have beaten the demo.
