Other than that, please feel free to share this file with your gaming buddies. ----------\ THE GUIDE \ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your party can equip Crests in order to use different types of magic or to increase their statistics. Each character can equip up to two crests at a time. Players can equip crests to customize the adventurers. While some gamers may draw on the character's natural strengths, giving magic crests to Lemina or attack boosting crests to Hiro. Some characters simply mix and match in order to provide a little variety. The choice is yours. This guide will feature a detailed description of each Crest I found in the game, including where I found it, the stats adjustments on the player when it is equipped, and any abilities or bonuses it gives to the player. The first section describes each Crest individually. The second section lists Crest Combos, added abilities and skills when two compatible Crests are equipped on the same player. ----------------\ THE NOTATIONS \ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Description: The description basically notes what the crest will do when equipped on a player. Location: You will find the Crest in this location in the game. Whenever you pause and/or save the game, the location will appear in the game menu. I have also included the disc number. Stats: Your character's vital statistics will increase or decrease by the listed amounts. Equipping magical Crests (i.e. Thunder, Fire, Wind) will usually lower your Attack rating, while battle Crests (i.e. Seal, Warrior) will lower Wisdom. Abilities: These are the techniques and spells a character will have while wearing the Crest. FIRE CREST Description: Player can wield fire-elemental magic. Location: Vane - Disc 3 Stats: Attack -5 Abilities: Flame [4 MP, One Enemy] - Shoots a hot fireball at an enemy. Flame Bomb [7 MP, Enemy Zone] - A cluster of heat burns foes. Burning Rain [10 MP, All Enemies] - Sends a shower of flame from the sky. GALE CREST Description: Players gain an additional attack. Location: Dragon's Nest - Epilogue Stats: # of Attacks +1, Defense -5, Wisdom -5 Abilities: None. GODDESS CREST Description: The power of Althena significantly boosts another Crest. Location: Goddess Tower - Disc 2 Stats: No adjustments. Abilities: Combine with another crest to produce effects. HEALING CREST Description: Weapon attacks drain enemy HP. It will not work with Lemina. Location: Althena's Shrine, Azado - Disc 1 Stats: Wisdom -5 Abilities: Each successful attack will drain a few HP from the enemy. The amount drained depends on character's Attack statistic. HUNTER CREST Description: Player will receive a bonus to their Agility. Location: Black Dragon Cave - Disc 2 Stats: Agility +10, Wisdom -5 Abilities: None. MAGIC EYE CREST Description: Player will receive a bonus to their wisdom. Location: Neo-Vane Item Shop - Disc 2 Stats: Wisdom +10, Attack -5 Abilities: None. MIND CREST Description: Player can paralyze enemies, preventing them from fighting. Location: Zaback Item Shop - Disc 2 Stats: Attack -5 Abilities: Mind Blaster [7 MP, One Enemy] - Disrupting the mind causes a foe to freeze in its tracks. OGRE CREST Description: Single target weapon attacks become Line attacks. Location: Red Dragon Cave - Disc 2 Stats: # of Attacks -1, Wisdom -5 Abilities: None. POWER CREST Description: If equipped with another crest, it can enhance its abilities. Location: Zulan Mountain - Disc 1 Stats: No adjustments. Abilities: Special. Combine the crest with status crests (i.e. Seal, Snake) and your character's weapon can inflict that status change. Combine the crest with magical crests (i.e. Wind, Earth) to increase that element's damage. RED DRAGON CREST Description: Player wields the power of the Red Dragon. Location: Red Dragon Cave - Disc 2 Stats: No adjustments. Abilities: Red Dragon Anger [40 MP, All Enemies] - Incinerates all enemies with a fiery blast. REVENGE CREST Description: Player receives fewer enemy counterattacks. Location: Blue Dragon Cave - Disc 2 Stats: Wisdom -5 Abilities: None. SEAL CREST Description: Player can silence enemies, preventing them from using magic. Location: Vane (after Miria's abduction) - Disc 1 Stats: Attack -5 Abilities: Magic Seal [3 MP, One Enemy] - An evil lithogram prevents one enemy from casting spells. SHIRO CREST Description: Player will receive a bonus to their Range. SNAKE CREST Description: Player can poison enemies, damaging enemy HP with each turn. THUNDER CREST Description: Player can wield thunder-elemental magic. WARRIOR CREST Description: Player will receive a bonus to their Attack. Location: Sluice Forest Stats: Attack +10, Wisdom -5 Abilities: None. WATER CREST Description: Player can wield water-elemental magic. Location: Vane - Disc 3 Stats: Attack -5 Abilities: Ice Pick [4 MP, One Enemy] - Stab an enemy with an icicle. Ice Lance [7 MP, Enemy Zone] - A fierce rain of icicles. Freeze Claw [10 MP, All Enemies] - A blistering wave of cold air assaults targets. WHITE DRAGON CREST Description: Player wields the power of the White Dragon. Location: White Dragon Cave Stats: No adjustments. Abilities: White Dragon Protect [50 MP, All Allies] - White Dragon protects against all magic damage for 1 turn. WIND CREST Description: Player can wield wind-elemental magic. Location: White Dragon Cave Stats: Attack -5 Abilities: Wind Cutter [4 MP, One Enemy] - A crescent-shaped blast hits the target. Squall [7 MP, Enemy Zone] - Summons forth a blustery wind surrounding the enemy. Vortex [10 MP, All Enemies] - Supersonic winds attack targets all over. --------------------\ CREST COMBINATIONS \ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- You may have stumbled upon a Crest combination. When you equip two Crests and the description appears in yellow, you have made a combination. Effects vary depending on the Crests you have equipped. Crests do not have to be in a specific order for combination effects to occur. In other words, a POWER + SEAL combination yields the same results as a SEAL + POWER combination. To avoid redundancy, I list combos only once. They are also featured in alphabetical order starting with the first crest. The Stats adjustments featured are based in comparison to your character's scores without any Crests equipped. As you can guess, certain combinations of Crests nullify or augment previous bonuses from the individual Crests. Also, when combining some Crests, the abilities listed may replace the spells gained if the crests were equipped individually. For instance, the Earth and Thunder Crest combo gives you a new spell, Pulse Explosion. Pulse Explosion will replace all the individual spells - Rock Viper, Rock Crush, Crack Point, Lightning Rain, Plasma Shock, and Dancing Thunder. ARCHER CREST + OGRE CREST Description: Attack in an enemy zone. Stats: # of Attacks -2 Abilities: None. CHIRO CREST + CHIRO CREST Description: Player receives maximum speed bonus. Stats: Wisdom +5, Max Speed / Preemptive Strike Abilities: None. EARTH CREST + EARTH CREST Description: Players command superior earth magic. Stats: Attack -10 Abilities: Rock Cobra [8 MP, One Enemy] - Kicks up a burst of dust and granite. Rock Riot [14 MP, Enemy Zone] - Several boulders smash together. Crack Zone [20 MP, All Enemies] - The earth is ripped asunder. Call Earth [6 MP, Special] - Earth-elemental field weakens thunder/wind creatures.
