First time I played this game, I was kinda confused when Rie killed me.. "Does this game really have been correct or not, actually?" I wonder. CONTROLS ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The control scheme is typical for PlayStation 1 game: The D-Pad and analog controller have to be selected only either one of them. The default is the D-Pad is on, analog controller is off. If you wanna turn on the analog controller, you have to turn on the ANALOG button first, and the d-pad will be turned off automatically. The D-Pad and the analog controller is to control the player's movement. I'd say that the player's movement is controlled pretty horribly. I'd say that it's so typical for the games at the moment... perhaps just my opinion >_>, but I more often feel dizzy playing PlayStation 1 games than PlayStation 2 games. But that does not matter, because you don't do any COMBAT for this whole game, you only moves around and do things like.... let's say RPG without random battles... I'd say that the player's turning is pretty slow. I find that some of the inplayable character inside the game is also the same. What happened? They are not like humans, perhaps? More like... cars, perhaps? >__> [Triangle]: Duck [Square]: Open menu [X]: Accelerate movements: running and turning [O]: Open door, see/check item, use item, talk, confirm [Start]: Pause the game [L1]: Walk left, menu previous page [R1]: Walk right, menu next page [L2]: Look up, menu previous page [R2]: Look down, menu next page [Left-Right]: Turning [Up-Down]: Goes forward/back \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ B. CHARACTERS ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// For this game, in my opinion, the rules are pretty simple, but the characters are not. So, I put the Characters section here -_^ Beware that it might be some subjective commentary here and there... as well as spoilers... 1. Inaba Tatsuya. The main protagonist. He is the person you are controlling. He seems to be a transfer student, so that he does not really know for the very exact the school situation he is in. I could say that he is pretty poor at combat, he is always losing while he is in any combat situation in this game. I think this character has some strong points despite of his poor combat skill because the game select him to be the mystery solver which should need some remarkable characteristics that you could guess it by yourself. 2. Ichinomiya Yuma. The only person besides yourself that you still can save in this deadly quest. That's all I can say >_> 3. Hikawa Kazuki. I once thought that this person is a friend.... but..... Once the school is darkened, you can see that this person is able to cast some magic spell, or has been expert at this department. Hikawa seems to show concern on your/Inaba's life until some point in the game. 4. Mochizuki Tetsuo. The problem starts when he said that his elder brother was missing three years ago. Once the school is dark, he is possessed by some other person, the name is Mr. Kamiyama. 5. Houjou Saeko. The teacher you see around in the game. Usually there at Art Preparation Room. I think I mistranslate this one at ss.... >_> 6. Hirose Mitsuru. Inaba's classmate... who is kinda... gluttonous. 7. Rie. A murderer.... just joking ^_^ Inaba's junior, seems to be 2nd grade at school. 8. Kyouko. Rie's friend. 9. Misaki. She is always in class 3-3 at the whole game. She seems to be Hikawa's girlfriend. 10. Nakanishi. Inaba's schoolmate. He seems to be wondering at the school exit. 11. Mochizuki Hiroshi. Mochizuki's elder brother who was missing 3 years ago. 12. Aikawa Kaori. She is who you see in the prolog. 13. Mori (Sensei). Another teacher you see around, but more seldom than Houjou Sensei. 14. Kamiyama Takahiko. The teacher who seems to know a lot... 15. Murabe Kouzou. The headmaster of the school. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ C. RULES AND GENERAL TIPS ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// You have to find, or experience [cutscenes], let's say so, to actually advance through the game. Some cutscenes you find/experience could make the result and the ending different. If you don't trigger the cutscenes, you will get stuck in the game. In this case, you only have a life. The same with the other PlayStation games, you can continue from a Save Point if you lose your only life. If you don't save, you will have to restart the game~~~ You only can save if you attach Memory Card to the Memory Card slot. In this case, you only need 1(one) block that has 4 save slots, and that's ALL you have. Once the school is dark, you can be killed and get "Game Over". I've seen a person somewhere that could list limited ways to get killed in the whole game. The only effort I see in order not to get killed is by checking your surroundings and see if you can hide inside some particular places or not or run away when the game says that it's possible, or says nothing. The only thing I could say as a tip for the game is: Knowing the game "unique" style and check your surroundings often to memorize hiding points, or memorize the game's hiding points. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ D. WALKTHROUGH ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// --------------------------- The screenshot for this game is available at: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/572597-iru/images --------------------------- After all the openings done, there are two things you could do: Start a new game and Continue a saved game You will see the intro cutscene, and in this game, you can't skip all the cutscenes, so you have to see all the things until the end. You can press either the [X] or [O] button to skip a conversation until you gain control of Inaba. I think there's really not many thing that's necessary to do, except picking up the [Nail Puller] behind your position. If you talk to Yuma, it seems that you and your classmates are in preparation for some event tomorrow, but dunno why you could fall asleep in the class until night like this... Checking up things around could also be done, if you try to leave the classroom, Houjou Sensei will come and Yuma'll leave the room. Now, you can exit the classroom. I'll draw a simple map for the third floor of the school. The school situation is a little bit frightening in my opinion, and the time now is night. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | | | | | | | | | | | | girl |data| art |art |music| music | | meeting|small|empty| boy | | | | |prep|prep | | | |meet | | | |toilet|room| room |room|room | room | | room |room |room |toilet| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | -----------------------------X------X----| |-----------X-----X---------- BUILDING B ------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- | | | | | | -----------------------------------------| |----------------------------- | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | girl |couns| | | | | | |boy | boy | | |eling| 3-5 | 3-4 | 3-3 | | 3-2 | 3-1 |chnge| | |toilet|room | | | | | | |room |toilet| | | | | | | | | | | | ------------------------------------------ ----X-------X----------------- BUILDING A -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------- Note 1: Between Building A and Building B around where Hirose is standing is a staircase going up going to the Terrace and Astronomy Room. Note 2: The four corners of the school are all staircases, but they are usually shut by fire shutters. In this case, only the North East staircase could be used to go outside, but is blocked by Hikawa. Note 3: At the end of the path between Music Room and Meeting Room is a Save Point. Save Point is used to save your game. -------------------- The music also suggests something, but I'd like to follow Aikawa's advice at the intro to get my ass outta here first, but it may spoil you to let you know that it turns out to be not a very wise move.... *_* The next cutscene will be at Art Room. At the art room, there is [Headmaster's Portrait] to collect, if you see the back of the portrait is orange, the two others are white. You can go to other rooms: -Art preparation room: Mr. Mori. -Counseling room: Yuma. -3-3: Misaki. Next thing to do is talking to Mr. Houjou at Art Preparation Room. Next thing to do is talking to Mochizuki at Art Room. Only Hikawa is not in his place. Next, go to 3-4 for the next cutscene. Nakanishi moves to Building B in front of Boy's toilet. Next thing to do is going to Art Room. Then, talk to Rie and Kyouko there. Only Misaki moves in front of 3-3. Next, go to Counseling Room for the next cutscene. Going outside the Counseling Room, you'll see Yuma. The next cutscene can't be avoided outside 3-3. The next cutscene is where Hirose is. The next cutscene is right away when you are on the way to Building A or Building B. Mochizuki is inside Data Room now. The Meeting/Conference Room is now locked. Next is talking to the girls at Art Room. The next cutscene is at Art Preparation Room. Nakanishi has moved also. I think, it's probably slightly earlier than this point. He is complaining about the meeting room that is suddenly locked... Hirose has moved to 3-4, so the trio has missed the meeting >__> Next thing to do is talking to Kyouko and Rie again at Art Room. Now, Hirose moves to Boy Toilet Building A. You have to go back to Art Prep Room for a cutscene. Next thing to do is talking to Mochizuki at Data Room. As you go out the room, the nightmare begins.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Firstly, things begin sooo dark. But, you will have "mysterious" light aid gradually. Now, time to move in the dark. You'll see Kyouko in front of nearby girl's toilet. I wonder why people don't go home when everything gets dark like this... >__> Only Nakanishi moves to in front of pile of tables. Next, you have to talk to Kyouko. Next, is talk to Mr. Houjou at Art Prep Room. Next, go back to ladies' toilet for a cutscene. Enter it. This is the first time you can die in the game. You will then enter Data Room automatically, you have to go inside the cardboard near the window by examining it. You have to be quick enough before Rie comes. You can see green person and door indicator at the up-part of the screen, when the green person arrives at the door, this means "game over" for you. Right now, you can enter girls/ladies' toilet. You also can examine things to see that if you can hide inside or not... As I understand what they say a little bit, I can say that people here are VERY not nice, But I can't see Hirose nor Mochizuki... As you walk to A Building, you can see a note on the floor: [Ruruie Deity...], you can pick it up. The next note is at Boy's Changing Room: [I Smell A Bad Smell...]. These notes are only there in the dark. I wonder why they are being made and who makes them... Next thing to do is going to the girls' toilet where Rie and Kyouko were... or "were". Outside, you'll see Mochizuki, follow him for a cutscene. The next cutsene is at 3-4 class. Next, you have to enter the Conference Room via the door closest to Save Point. You shouldn't examine the mirror on the floor, otherwise you'll be dead. Talk to Mochizuki at Data Room. After this, the path forks into two path. If you go to Art Room, you continue from here, if you go to Art Prep Room, you go from section D*. Another Path. Go to 3-3 and talk to Misaki for a cutscene. Try to go to B Building and something'll happen. Then, talk to Mochizuki at Data Room, and when you go outside, the pile of tables'll be gone. You could get close for a cutscene. The next note on the floor is in Art Room: [Who Are You...]. You shouldn't approach the magic circle, othewise the game'll be over. You will get warned beforehand. Now, only Mr. Houjou and Mochizuki left. These two are the only persons you could ask for help. Mr. Houjou is in Art Prep Room and Mochizuki is in Data Room. On the way to A Building, there is something glowing on the floor, pick it for [3-5 Key]. Use the key to open 3-5 Classroom. On the floor is a [Hammer] to take, and a wooden box. I recall that someone has warned you not to make a loud noise, but forget who he/she who warns you ^_^ So, if you break the box using the hammer, you'll be dead. You have to use the [Nail Puller] to take the [Meat] inside. Get close to the magic circle and use the [Meat]. You now can go downstairs ^_^ 2nd Floor ========= -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | | | | | | | | | | | | girl |empty|technic|tech|sci |science | | |read |empty| boy | | | | |prep|prep | | | library|prep | | | |toilet|room | room |room|room | room | | |room |room |toilet| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | -----------------------X-----X-----------| |----X------------X---------- BUILDING B ------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- | | | | | | 1st Floor ========= -------------------------------------------X------------------------------ | | | | | | | | | | | | | girl |empty| broad | |clerk| nursery| | staff |princ| not | boy | | | | cast |shop| | | | |ipal |open | | |toilet|room | room | |room | room | | room |offce|room |toilet| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ----------X------X-----X-----X-----------| |---------------------------- BUILDING B -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------- Note 1: The library is locked the first time we see it ^_^ Note 2: At the same spot on 2nd floor is a Save Point. Note 3: The two corners of Building B are all staircases could go up and down if possible, but only the staircase going down beside the girl toilet is not blocked by fire shutters. Note 4: Near the entrance is also a Save Point. -------------------- You can only access Building B only on 1st floor and 2nd floor. From Reading Preparation Room, you can pick up [Torn Page]. From Principal Office, you can pick up [Golden Key] behind the desk. Also, if you put [Headmaster's Portrait] beside the other portraits, you can get [Blue Powder] at the opposite wall. You see the entrance, but for some odd reasons, you can't get out -_- At Science Room, there is a [Match] on the table you can take. If you try to access Building A, you'll get a cutscene. You shouldn't get too close to the Magic Circle... You can meet two new people here, Youko at Staff Room and a School Medic at Nursery Room. I wonder why only two here, and why they won't get out from the school either... After getting the cutscene, go downstairs, and you'll meet Mochizuki and a cutscene. If you go upstairs again before going to Building A, you'll meet a cutscene. You'll have to evade the monster again for life, and the room this time is Science Room. And, the room to hide now is behind the main desk. Pheewww Yuma seems to run to 3rd floor, doesn't she? but if you try to look for her there, you can't find her. So, what happened? Next, talk to Mochizuki at Reading Preparation Room. Then, go to Staff Room for a cutscene. Floor note is near the entrance: [What Is The Purpose...]. Now, you can take [Demon Worship] book at Read Prep Room and [Secret Of Larva] at Art Prep Room upstairs using the [Golden Key]. The next cutscene is at Tech Room. Next, go back to Staff Room. Then, go back to Read Prep Room and talk to Mochizuki at the room's corner. Then, try to go to the entrance and talk to dying Mr. Mori there. Next floor note to get is at Boy Toilet 1st floor: [It Gives Harm...] When you pass in front of the Library, something'll happen and you now can go inside the library. The thing to do inside the library is duck thru the bottom- side of the counter and take the single book on your left: [Avon Book]. You can see the monster from the counter, but don't go approach the monster from the other side, otherwise... you know that, right? You can't read the [Avon Book], so you need to go to Astronomy Room to take [Blue Small Ball] being dropped there. (You still remember where it is, don't you?). On the way, you'll see Mochizuki. You can talk to him for a talk that seems to be regarded of never being talked after this. You can't go anywhere from the Terrace even though if you search the floor anywhere... You have to read the note on the floor you picked up earlier [Ruruie Deity...], and then, try to use [Blue Small Ball], to recognize it as [Ruruie's Pearl]. Then, try to read [Avon Book], then read the [Torn Page] you got at Read Prep Room earlier, then the game will recognize that the Torn Page was come from the Avon Book. Next thing to do is to confront the monster blocking the path to A Building. When you get close enough (until the warning appears), use the [Torn Page], now you can access Building A ^__^ 2nd Floor ========= | | | | | | -----------------------------------------| |----------------------------- | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | girl |girl | | | | | | |store| boy | | |chnge| 2-5 | 2-4 | 2-3 | | 2-2 | 2-1 | | | |toilet|room | | | | | | |room |toilet| | | | | | | | | | | | ------------------X------------------X---- ------------------------------ BUILDING A --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st Floor ========= --X-- | | | | -----------------------------------------| |----------------------------- | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |consu| | | girl |empty| | | | | | |ltati| boy | | | | 1-5 | 1-4 | 1-3 | | 1-2 | 1-1 | on | | |toilet|room | | | | | | |room |toilet| | | | | | | | | | | | ----------X-----------------X--------X---- ------------X----------------- BUILDING A ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ | | to chapel v -------------------- Note 1: The two staircases are there to connect to downstair only. The other directions are blocked by fire shutters. Note 2: Between 1-2 and 1-3, there is an "official" school entrance... that I think is illogically placed. There is also a Save Point there. Note 3: Between 1-2 and 1-3 at the opposite side, there is a passage that is not completely shut by the fire shutter. We'll go there soon. -------------------- Next note is on the roulette in 2-2 class: [To You...]. 2-4 is a maze. Sorry, I can't draw the detail, but around the center of the room should be another dead student and [Crimson Jewel] to take. The next cutscene is in front of Store Room. You'll automatically enter the room. There are blue thingie on the floor, take it for a [Jack]. If you do not unlock the cutscene, you'll be just running around inside a dark school... With the [Jack], you can have access to Chapel. It's where you was at the intro... Weirdly, you can't just lift the fire shutter, but you have to put the [Jack] on the gap to lift it a little bit so that you can duck to get in... With all you have right now, you can make.... let's just say it [Even Powder], that's very useful to make invisible things become visible. [Even Powder] is a mixture of three powders: [Blue Powder], [Yellow Powder], [Red Powder]. The [Blue Powder], you've got it.. right? [Yellow Powder] is inside the room behind the giant statue. How to access the room? There is a hole on the wall, and you have to insert the [Crimson Jewel] you got earlier, and after you "unlock" it, you'll automatically retrieve the jewel back. Inside the room, somewhere behind the chair is [Pottery Pot] to take. Next room to go is A Room That's Not Opened on 1st floor Building B and put the [Pottery Pot] onto the statue there to get [Goddess' Tears]. First thing to do in the Science Room is to light the alcohol lamp with a [Match]. Next, to put the [Goddess' Tears] in to get [Red Powder]. Next, you need to read [Devil Worship] first with [Ruruie's Pearl] to get the [Even Powder] after putting all the three: [Red Powder], [Blue Powder], and [Yellow Powder] into the scales inside the hidden room behind the statue at the Chapel. Next, talk to Mochizuki in front of 2-4/2-5 class. Around the intersection to Building B, somewhere in between 2-2 and 2-3 class, there is a cutscene if you pass there. Talk to Mochizuki nearby. You can have [Rocket] from him if you have got [Secret Of Larva] in your inventory. [Rocket] is a key item to get this game's better ending. You can't go to Building A right now. Try to get somewhere far enough or inside a room, then come back again for another cutscene. The access to Building A is opened again, and there is no trace of Mr. Houjou anywhere, but this time, Inaba doesn't wonder... Note on the floor is in Consultation Room: [Collecting The Heart...] Go back to Class 3-4 and talk to Yuma. Next, go to Nursery Room at 1st floor, and now you have to hide for life, again. The room right now is Staff Room. Your time is a little bit more limited, I guess. You should examine a single locker at the corner of the room, near Mr. Houjou's desk.... pheww... You have to go back to 3-4, as you can't find anybody left 0_0, and find out that Yuma is missing! Try to go to Building B and you'll see Hikawa there. On the way, you'll see a note on the floor again: [Transparent Stuff...] The way to Astronomy Room is now blocked. The monster inside the magic circle can't be seen, but you can hear the voice. From the note on the floor, or from what I've written above you may know that you should use that [Even Powder].... and... right, you should use it to the Magic Circle, and now, you can go upstairs. On the way to Astronomy Room, you'll meet Yuma again,... and a cutscene. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Underground Temple ================== You are now at Underground Temple... that seems to be still inside the school area, and you can see Hikawa above, using L2, and you can talk to him, if you wish, but that'll be useless -_- In front of you is a Save Point, and behind you is a (stone) door you need to go. Another stone door is ahead, and inside you can find stone structure, and [Octagonal Emblem] is on the stone structure, to take. Two stone door again, and the ceiling will fall slowly. You can't go to the door in front of you, nor go back. So, you have to notice your surroundings, there is a low passage to your right, and you need to examine it, to find out that there is something blocking the passage, but can't be seen, so now, is the time to use that [Even Powder] again to make that "blocker" appears. Examine it again, to open the passage, and you can duck to enter the passage now to safety. At the end of the passageway, there is an octagonal slot on the wall. Put the [Octagonal Emblem] onto it, the ceiling will rise again. Time to go back to the door ahead that once closed. And, go to the door ahead once more into the final room of the temple. The door which has the Octagonal Emblem mark has some hint written on it. The thing you need to do is to find a hole in the wall similar to that in the Chapel, and put [Crimson Jewel] you got at 2-4 into it. Something'll happen and then, you have to check the stone thing on the middle of the room. You could go back to Hikawa, but Hikawa does not help you, so you don't have choices, but to go to the stone door which has the Octagonal Emblem mark, that right now is opened into a stairs that leads to Underground Cemetery. Underground Cemetery ==================== Once you reach this area, you can't go back. You'll see a Save Point, and two passages, ahead of you and at the right side. The path to the right will bring you to "Mochizuki's elder brother" which will just eat you, if you don't have the [Rocket]. If you have the [Rocket], you will get [Letter] from it/him. You can only take the only path left. On the way, you will be chased by two monsters similar to "Mochizuki's elder brother". You can't do anything else, but run away to the nearest door, and Inaba will automatically lock the door. You'll see the real headmaster inside, and the final Save Point. Outside, is spinning staircase where everything that can be seen is red. You'll see two doors. To the left and to the right. You can only access the left door, and it brings you to Mochizuki. Only if you have [Letter], he'll give you [Phyllosterolic Medicine]. The things on the floor, you should take them: [Noterun Mirror] and [Spell Memo] to get better ending soon. The next door on the staircase leads to a room which has nobody right now. The door at the end of the staircase leads to machine room which has big gears. You can't go to the other side because of the broken bridge. Stand on the top of the broken bridge and throw your [Hammer] to the pit to make the gears stop spinning. Examine the big gear on your left to get cross. Once you cross the gears, you can't go back. At the top, you'll see Hikawa. You can't save Yuma thanks to the barrier. There is only one thing you can do during the time limit (before the eclipse): Read the [Spell Memo] and then throw the [Noterun Mirror] to kill Hikawa. So, you can get three ending possibilites here: 1. You don't stop the ceremony. 2. You kill Hikawa with the mirror, but can't save Yuma. 3. You kill Hikawa with the mirror, and save Yuma with [Phyllosterolic Medicine]. After some time after "The End" screen, press any button to restart the game. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ D*. ANOTHER PATH ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Now, after Hirose has been killed and you have talked to Mochizuki at Data Room. You now go to Art Prep Room instead. Outside, there'll be a cutscene with Mr. Houjou. In this time, Misaki is nowhere to be found, I wonder where she goes... Nakanishi is also missing. There is no other choice but to enter the Art Prep Room again. Note that only Mr. Houjou and Mochizuki are left right now. So, there is no other choice but to talk to Mochizuki at Data Room. The notes on the floor are all the same. So, I don't need to mention them once more ^_^ Next are magic circle thing near the stairs... The way to do are all the same. Until you successfully evade the fish monster at Sci Room and talk to Mochizuki at Read Prep Room, you have to go back to Art Prep Room again for a weird cutscene. Weird, in my humble opinion. The voice, the pic, and the script does not in-sync... in some way... The next cutscene is at Tech Room. Then, go back to Art Prep Room to see the photo album lying down on the floor. The rest all the same until you have finished dealing with the magic circle at 2nd floor. You don't need to go to Staff Room though... Mochizuki is no longer in front of Class 2-4/2-5, you could meet him on the way to Art Prep Room. If you go inside, you can see that one of the picture has been taken. Talk to him at Data Room. Then, go to Art Prep Room for a cutscene. Then, Mochizuki is at 2nd floor near the Clock Tower. What to do next is the same until the end of the game. The differences are only you can see Hikawa at the room with Necronomicon, and who you'll see in the end. Three ending possibilities exactly like above section also apply. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ E.
