CHRONO CROSS - THE BEND OF TIME FAQ V 1.0 By Alfonse "Legend Of Crystania", or "Midnight Blaze Alfonse", e-mail: leylia305@hotmail.com This FAQ uncovers the mystery behind the Bend Of Time, what does the various portals lead to, and what sort of enemies would you fight, etc. VERSION HISTORY ----------------- Version 1.5 - A bit of corrections on the whole FAQ. Version 1.0 - Initial Release. INTRODUCTION TO THE BEND OF TIME --------------------------------- In case you haven't noticed while sailing around El Nido, have you noticed a small ring of islands directly south of Mount Pyre, in the middle of nowhere? That's the Bend Of Time. You can only enter it after entering the Sea Of Eden or after the incident at Fort Dragonia, I think. Obviously, you need a boat ^^; When do you know you can enter it? There would be a dark blue hole in the middle of the ring of islands, rather than just water. The Bend Of Time is described by the wierd creature there as a place where monsters from different dimensions gather. You can fight enemies that you may have missed. This is what this FAQ is about. However, the two famous things about the Bend Of Time are.. 1. You can get Janice's level 7 technique, What's Up Doc. Bring along Janice in your party and talk to the creature. It would say that the god of war has an intrest in Janice. Then you get her level 7 tech. Wierd. =/ 2. In a New Game+ or Continue+, the previously locked doorway will be open for you, where you can fight Ozzie, Flea and Slash (oh, the memories), your old adversaries in Chrono Trigger, which can be DOPPLEGANGED by Sprigg! After the battle, you have a chance at a difficult number-guessing mini-game that gives you the prize of a Dreamer's Sarong, an accessory that increases a character's Element Power Level by 8 when entering a battle when equipped. It means that the character with the sarong have a maxed out element power level, allowing you to cast your powerful elements immediately instead of charging up your element level by attacking enemies. NOTE: All these are tried on Chrono Cross Disc 2. It may differ on Disc 1. MAP OF THE BEND OF TIME ------------------------ It's a pretty crude map, but please don't mind ^__^! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ------- | O O O O O | / | |_ |_ _ _ _| |_ _ _ _/ | |A| _ _ _ _ C R _ _ _ _ B | | | | | | ------- |_ O _ O _ O _ O _ O _ _|_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _| A - Doorway to Ozzie, Flea and Slash C - The creature B - Entrance/Exit Of the Bend Of Time R - Record Of Fate. O - The portals. The portals will be described as: O O O O O 1 2 3 4 5 O O O O O 6 7 8 9 10 BATTLE LOCATIONS lists the type of battlefields appearing on that particular portal. (E.g. If a portal has "Chronopolis" as a Battle Location, when you go into a battle with Chronopolis as a battle location, the surroundings as you zoom in your enemy would be the same as though you fought him, her or it in Chronopolis.) MUSIC lists the types of music themes played when you go into battle. ENEMY ORIGIN lists where will the enemies you encounter will come from. TIME OF GAME tells you which part of the game do you encounter such a series of enemies. (Err.. that explains it. ^_^;) You cannot choose your battle location, music or origin. It's all decided on random, and also probably how many times you rammed the X key to make the portal let you in. =/ Rarely, you may encounter 1-2 bosses. But the chances are so slim that you might not meet even the Mama Komodo. LOL ^_^. However, I met the Dead Head (boss form) in portal 8. Or is the Dead Head a normal enemy I wonder? The Sea Of Eden is the Dead Sea, I know. But this FAQ assumes the "Sea Of Eden" as the Dead Sea after it has exploded and the fate distortions appear and take you to where Chronopolis and the three fate locations (-Past-, -Present-, -Future-) is. The Dead Sea is the Sea Of Eden before it has exploded (with the frozen waters and all). Confusing, but try to decode and you will understand. Besides, there are different enemies, music and battle locations in both the Sea Of Eden before and after it exploded. :) Portal 1 ========= Note: To enter any portal, press X once or more when standing on it. Many themes could be the same one, actually. I just took the theme from whereever it was played from. (E.g. the Grand Slam theme is the Fossil Valley theme) - There will always be a mix of themes, locations and enemies from different origins when you enter a portal to battle monsters. It's too difficult to piece all of the combinations out, sorry ^____^;. - It may differ from game to game.. I don't know. I hope this will help out, somehow.. it's hard work for a fifteen-year old kid like myself, trying portal after portal, some locations poping out of nowhere, strange themes, and I have to literally tear my hair off just to remember some things, LOL :P. - If there are any mistakes or anything you want to add or contribute, please email me at the e-mail address at the beginning of this FAQ. - It's up to you to figure out what monsters are in the various origins, this FAQ isn't a bestiary. It should be easy to figure out, though. =P. - Some portals need you to ram the X button multiple before a monster appears and fights you. Just be patient -- there is an endless supply of monsters for you to lay your hands on. - The combinations of the Battle Locations may seem familiar to you. Maybe you can figure them out? I leave it to you. :P - PLEASE CONTRIBUTE INFORMATION!! I need to verify a lot of things about the Bend Of Time. Please send useful information that is helpful. Credits -------- I really, really have to say thanks to: - Myself for creating this great FAQ. - Jolyn (a.k.a. Yukiko) for being a good friend. :) And a Counter-Strike expert.
