INTRODUCTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- What is Pabpab? Pabpab is a tiny island village in Breath of Fire IV (a game by Capcom). The village is built in the trees and in it lives a man named Beyd and his family of pabpabs. Pabpabs are bizarre creatures about two feet tall and completely covored in shaggy hair with two large eyes gazing out. They have their own language which Beyd has begun to study and document, and Scias even has a go at speaking Pabpab at camp. Before you actually reach Pabpab you meet Popo, Beyd's wife (yes, he is married to a pabpab) on the forest road. She speaks to you in this language and you can try and guess what she wants and give her different things. However, because you have not yet reached Beyd's notes on the language it is difficult to know what she is actually saying. With this guide you can try and work it out and also work out what the pabpabs are saying (some of them tell you where you can find secret treasure). ----------------------------------------------------------------------- III. "PUKAPUKA" ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The pabpabs have a phrase which they like to say a lot. It is their philosophy of life in general and the phrase is "Pukapuka". Beyd's notes tell us that the phrase literally means "slowly" or "relaxed". The pabpabs use it to mean "What will be, will be" meaning that they lead carefree lives and are not really bothered about what happens as it is all left to fate. Beyd tells Ryu that "pukapuka" also means "Everything will be all right in the end" which shows that pabpabs are also quite optimistic too. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. UNKNOWN WORDS ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Sometimes the pabpabs say things that are not in Beyd's notes and can confuse the player. Here is a list of words that I have noticed. Feel free to e-mail me if you spot any more of it you know what they mean. - kohl - pokko - pomita - teeruta ----------------------------------------------------------------------- VII.
