All you need is a multi-tap and you're good to go! -Game Modes: Normal Game- This single-player mode is a remake of the original Bomberman game. There are 50 stages, each one getting progressively harder. There are also two different versions. Battle Mode- This multi-player mode pits up to 5 human or CPU players against one another in an all-out death match that's made Bomberman famous. There are two different sub modes in Battle Mode, Battle Royal Mode and Custom Battle Mode. Battle Royal is the normal Battle Mode we've all grown to know and Custom Battle Mode lets you tinker with different features such as the number of items that can be found on the playing field. -Controls: D-Pad: Used to move your character around. If your character also has the Bomb Kick powerup in a game he or she can kick the bomb by pressing the direction that the bomb is in when you're next to it. Circle: Use the circle button to place bombs across the playing field. If your character has the power glove power up as well, you can pick up bombs using the circle button and throw the bomb at another character using the same button. Triangle: The cancel button. Can also be used to return to a previous menu. Square: Use the square button to activate the Punch, Push, or Multi-Bomb power ups. X: The select button. If you have the remote control power up in a game, the X button is also used to trigger a bomb. Also used to activate a partner's special ability or a characters special ability. Start, Select, L1, L2, R1, R2: Pressing all of these buttons together at the same time triggers the soft-reset. Use this to reset your game without having to press the reset button on your console. ****************************************************************************** Section 2: Playing the Game ****************************************************************************** =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 2.1: Game Modes =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Normal Game *~*~*~*~*~*~*~* First, you have to select which version of the new game you want to play. Your choices are either Modern and Retro. -Modern In Modern Mode, you clear 10 stages and then the graphics change. After each 10 stages, you're treated to a clip of Bomberman. -Retro A recreation using the original Bomberman's graphics. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Battle Modes *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* You'll have to choose between two different battle modes, Battle Royale and Custom Battle. -Battle Royale: Battle Royale Mode is simply a battle mode that is less-customizeable than Custom Battle. -Custom Battle In Custom Battle Mode you can customize almost every aspect of the battle. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 2.2: Playing a Normal Game =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Bomberman: Party Edition contains a remake of the original Bomberman game, with either the original game's graphics or a new updated set. To clear a stage, you have to find the exit door. Of course, the door isn't just going to be on the screen right away for you. You have to destroy the blocks on the screen to find the door. To destroy the blocks, simply place a bomb by as many of them as you can and take cover! Besides the exit, you can also find many different power-up's along the way. The list of all the power-ups and their descriptions will be along later in this walkthrough. Beware! If the timer runs out and you still haven't found the exit, more monsters will spawn all over the playing field! So don't slack off unless you want to lose! After you've cleared five stages, you can play a special bonus stage. In these bonus stages, Bomberman is always invincible and you have to defeat as many monsters as you can. The more monsters you can beat, the more points you can rack up. Of course, you have a limited amount of time, so try to do the best you can! Here's a little hint. If you ever have the flak jacket or anything else equipped that makes you invincible, lay down a bomb and wait for it to explode. When it explodes, immediately place another one in the exploded bombs fire. The second bomb you layed down should explode immediately. Now, if you have enough bombs built up you can make a stream of fire go on as long as you're invincible by laying bombs down in the fire while walking! Try it out, it's really useful! Finally, if either the exit doors or the power-up found on any of the stages come in contact with a bomb's blast, they will spew monsters out. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 2.3: Battle Modes Information =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Okay, this is it. Battle Mode. The bread and butter of Bomberman Party Edition, the battle modes. Let's start off by talking about Battle Royale Mode. *~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~* Battle Royale Mode *~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~* The first thing you have to do in Battle Royale Mode is select a level of difficulty. You can choose from beginner, normal, and advanced. If this is your first game in the Bomberman universe, then I suggest playing on beginner until you learn more about the game. If you've played one or two other Bomberman games before, then I think you should play on normal mode. If you're a true Bomberman fan and have played a countless number of his games, then go for advanced mode. After you've selected your difficulty, you need to choose whether you want to play a single match or a tag-team match. In a single match, it's a free-for- all. Basically an every man for himself type of game. If you go with tag-team, everyone will be divided into two separate teams that go to war against each other. Next you'll be selecting the rules and other options for the match. You'll have to choose how good of players the computer-controlled characters are, the number of games per match (1 through 5), the time limit (1 through 5 minutes or unlimited), whether Sudden Death mode (a mode where blocks encircle the remaining players when there's 30 seconds or less during the match) is on, if skull bombs are effected by bomb blasts, if characters start in a random position on the playing field, if Hyper Bomber is on ( a mode that lets the winner of a match select a power-up that they'll permanently have during the next rounds) and, finally, if Bomber Cart is on(Bomber Cart allows characters that have been killed to keep playing. If you're killed, your character will be transported to a cart on the sides of the screen. While in the carts, characters can throw bombs at the playing field. The longer you hold the button, the farther the bomb will go). There's still more customization! Now you have to select the number of players and CPU controlled players there will be in your match. After that, you will assign a certain character to yourself. If you're playing a tag-team match, you'll have to select who will be on the two teams after this. When you're done with that, you will select which stage you will be playing on. There are a very large number of stages to play on, each with different special features,so choose which one you think will be the most fun. But be sure to try themall at least once! When the match is done, you'll be treated to the battle results screen and the battle report screen. The battle results screen shows which character or team has won the match by awarding them a trophy. The battle report screen shows who was killed by who. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Custom Battle *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* A custom battle is exactly the same as a battle in battle royale mode, except even more customizable. From the 'Item Selection' screen, you can pick up to 9 of any of the 15 power ups on the screen, with a cap of 60 total power-ups altogether. From the 'Handicap' screen, you can select the number of lives of any given character. You can't go under one or over five. After you've done all of this, start up the game and have fun! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 2.4: Playing a Battle Game =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The basic premise behind a battle game is to blow away all of your opponents using your bombs and the power-ups that you've picked up along the way. Certain battle-fields have gimmicks that can aid in killing your opponents. Whoever wins the number of rounds that was set before the match started wins. ****************************************************************************** Section 3: Lists ****************************************************************************** =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 3.1: Monsters =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Here is a list of monsters that will be found in normal mode. Listed are their names, speed, difficulty in defeating them and a short description. =-----------------------------------------------------= 1. Balloon Speed: Slow Difficulty: Very Easy Description: A balloon-shaped monster found in the earlier stages of the game. Very easy to kill. =-----------------------------------------------------= 2. Onil Speed: Slow Difficulty: Easy Description: An onion-shaped monster found in earlier stages of the game. Smarter than a balloon, but not much harder to kill. =-----------------------------------------------------= 3. Blockhead Speed: Slow Difficulty: Easy Description: A block-shaped monster that floats around the battle-field. Not hard to kill =-----------------------------------------------------= 4. Minbow Speed: Moderate Difficulty: Medium Description: A circular monster that is harder than the previous 3 monsters. =-----------------------------------------------------= 5. Ameban Speed: Slow Difficulty: Medium Description: An ameba-like monster. It can pass through the blocks on the battle field if it wants. =-----------------------------------------------------= 6. Floatsam Speed: Moderate Difficulty: Hard Description: A monster that kind of looks like a wig, it can pass through blocks like the ameban but isn't as slow. =-----------------------------------------------------= 7. Tiglon Speed: Fast Difficulty: Hard Description: It might look cute, but it's definitely dangerous. It resembles a tiger for a reason. It's smart AND fast. =-----------------------------------------------------= 8. Foton Speed: Extremely Fast Difficulty: Very Hard Description: The most dangerous monster in the game, the Foton can chase Bomberman around if he sees him and is very very fast. =-----------------------------------------------------= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 3.2: Characters and Partners =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= *~*~*~*~*~*~* Characters *~*~*~*~*~*~* Characters Useable in the Beginner Difficulty: All of the characters useable in the beginner difficulty are simply Bombermen with different colors. There is... =-----------------------------------------------------= 1. White Bomberman 2. Black Bomberman 3. Red Bomberman 4. Blue Bomberman 5. Green Bomberman =-----------------------------------------------------= There really isn't anything to distinguish between any of these guys. The only thing that they have that makes them different from one-another is their color. Characters Useable in the Normal Difficulty: We start to see some characters with individuality come out of the woodwork for the normal and advanced difficulties. Here are the characters found in normaldifficulty and short bio's for each. Supposedly, the normal level is home to characters from around the world who are fighting to bring pride to their country. It's pretty obvious where most of the characters are from looking at their outfits. =-----------------------------------------------------= 1. Cossack Bomber If you couldn't tell form his outfit, this guy is from Russia or the former U.S.S.R. Maybe they never disbanded? Who knows. Whichever he's from, he's dressed up in a red suit, black gloves, black boots, and one of those big, red hats. I'm not even gonna say what I think he looks like.. =-----------------------------------------------------= 2. Punk Bomber I really have no idea where this guy is from. His name doesn't really suggest anything, unless there's a certain country out there that's known for its *******'s. =-----------------------------------------------------= 3. Mexican Bomber His outfit also doesn't really suggest he's from Mexico (I was expecting a sombrero! Just kidding.) but he does seem to have a tan that you would only get in a hot place such as Mexico. =-----------------------------------------------------= 4. Barbarian Bomber Is Barbaria/Babaria a country? Might of been at one time.. Anyway, the Barbarian bomber looks like what you might expect, shirt less and huge. He has a little frilly thing on his neck too... Not sure what that is. o_O =-----------------------------------------------------= 5. Bomber the Kid Since when is the Wild West a country? Anyway, Bomber the Kid sports all of the average cowboy stuff. Hat, jacket, boots, and of course, six- shooter. =-----------------------------------------------------= 6. Pretty Bomber From.. Prettyland(okay, now I'm just plain bashing these guys). Pretty Bomber is wearing a large helmet with a big heart on the front, a dress and high-heels. =-----------------------------------------------------= 7. Bomber Chen Ah, finally, another character that actually represents their country by reminding us of it! He's from China of course... or Japan. Okay, I spoke too soon. Bomber Chen is possibly the shortest character in the game and sports a cane, a very long beard and baldness. =-----------------------------------------------------= There they are, the characters for the normal difficulty. Definitely a lot more character than the ones found on easy, but wait until you see the characters found on advanced! Characters found on advanced mode: All of these characters found on advanced mode. None of them are fooling around which is painfully apparent from all the heavy artillery they're carrying! *Note* Characters found on advanced mode have special powers that can be triggered by pressing X and one of the directions on the D-Pad at the same time. =-----------------------------------------------------= 1. Bazooka Bomber Bazooka Bomber has a bazooka, of course. With it he can blast blocks or other characters. After he shoots his bazooka he becomes paralyzed for 10 seconds. =-----------------------------------------------------= 2. Jet Bomber Using his jet-pack, Jet Bomber can give himself a massive boost of speed for a few seconds. He also becomes defenseless for 10 seconds after using his special power, just like Bazooka Bomber. =-----------------------------------------------------= 3. Great Bomber Great Bomber has a..well.. great power. He can become invincible from all attacks for a few seconds. Just like the previous two characters, Great Bomber also becomes defenseless for 10 seconds after his power has been used up. =-----------------------------------------------------= 4. Hammer Bomber Hammer Bomber can use his trusty hammer to hit other characters nearby. Anyone hit by his hammer will have their items scattered across the battlefield. Unlike the past three characters, Hammer Bomber does NOT become defenseless after using his power. =-----------------------------------------------------= 5. Honey One of Bomberman's most loved characters, Honey returns to Party Edition for more bombing fun. She can use her gun to blow up a bomb on the field prematurely. There is no penalty on Honey for using her pistol. =-----------------------------------------------------= 6. Lady Bomber Lady Bomber can use her floating laser guns to shoot any character, scattering their items across the battlefield. There is no penalty on Lady Bomber for using her lasers. =-----------------------------------------------------= 7. Kotetsu Another well-liked character returning to Bomberman. Kotetsu can attack other characters with his sword to scatter their items. There is no penalty on Kotetsu for using his sword. =-----------------------------------------------------= There they are, the advanced difficulty characters, in my opinion the best in the game. Make sure you play a lot so you can get good enough to play on advanced with these guys. *~*~*~*~*~* Partners *~*~*~*~*~* In case you didn't know, Partners are the creatures found in the eggs hidden in blocks across the field. Beginner difficulty doesn't have partners, but normal and advanced difficulties do. Partners can be very helpful as they can have special powers and will essentially give you an extra-life(If you are hit by a bomb while on a partner the partner will die instead of you). Partners found on normal difficulty: =-----------------------------------------------------= 1. Blue Louie Ability: Bomb Kick Blue Louie can kick bombs. The reason this is special is because the bombs kicked by Blue Louie can pass through blocks and walls. =-----------------------------------------------------= 2. Green Louie Ability: Dash Green Louie can run extremely fast but can't stop running until it hits something like an item, a block or a wall. =-----------------------------------------------------= 3. Yellow Louie Ability: Block Kick Yellow Louie has the special ability to kick any block ahead of itself. =-----------------------------------------------------= 4. Brown Louie Ability: Multi-Bomb While riding Brown Louie, your character can drop his or her maximum number of bombs at once in a straight line in the direction you're facing. =-----------------------------------------------------= 5. Pink Louie Ability: Jump Pink Louie can leap over single bombs and blocks. =-----------------------------------------------------= These partners are extremely useful when defending yourself against attack. The only ones that are better are the ones found on advanced difficulty. Partners found on advanced difficulty: =-----------------------------------------------------= 1. Simeon Ability: Pick Up Blocks This guy can pick up any soft block and drop it anywhere on the field as long as that area isn't occupied by something else. =-----------------------------------------------------= 2. Orakko Ability: Jump Attack Orakko can use a jump attack that makes any character scatter their items. =-----------------------------------------------------= 3. Coney Ability: Multi-Bombs This partner can place multi-bombs and isn't damaged from attacks behind him. =-----------------------------------------------------= 4. Pytera Ability: Eat Bombs Pytera can eat up a bomb placed on the field and spit it back out at any given time. =-----------------------------------------------------= 5. Dox Ability: Block Kick Dox can kick soft blocks if it has a running start. =-----------------------------------------------------= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 3.3: Items =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This section will pertain to all of the different power-ups that can be found in the blocks across the battlefield. Some of the powers are good and some are bad, so if you don't know, I've listed them all here. *Code* N = Normal. B = Battle 1. Bomb Found in: N, B The bomb. The most necessary item in Bomberman. None of this could be possible without them! As far as I know, there isn't a cap on the number of bombs you can have, so try to get as many as possible! 2. Fire Found in: N, B The more fire power-ups you have the longer the range of your bomb blasts. 3. Speed Up Found in: N, B The number of Speed Up power ups you have depends on how fast your character can run around. 4. Bomb Kick Found in: B The Bomb Kick is just that. You can only carry one at a time. 14. Egg Found in: B The egg contains a partner which will aid you in fragging all the other competitors. 15. Skull Found in: B The skull is the only bad item you can pick up in the game. Your character becomes infected with one of 10 debilitating illnesses which won't go away until you pick up another item or pass the sickness to someone else. Here are a list of the sicknesses: Maxed Speed: Your characters speed is maxed out. Maxed Slow: Your characters speed is dropped to the lowest possible level. Diarrhea: Your character continually drops bombs. Impotent: Your character can no longer drop bombs. Feeble: Your character can drop no more than one bomb at a time. Original The normal stage found in all Bomberman stages. Very traditional with no special features. 2. One-Way Street The One-Way Street level has a bunch of arrows pointing up, down, left and right. If someone kicks a bomb on one of the arrows, the bomb will go in the direction that arrow is facing. 3. Warp Desert The Warp Desert stage is full of warp zones that transport a character from one place to another. 4. Take the Train On this stage is a train that can carry anything put on it. The direction of the train can be changed by using the cross point. 5. Factory There are a number of conveyer belts on the Factory level that move in the same direction as the belt itself. 6. Life in the Slow Lane A character passing over a marked section of the battle field will have their speed changed to a random speed. There is only one destroyable soft block. 7. Pipe City There are a number of pipes on this stage. Anything inside one of the pipes cannot be seen. 8. SeeSaw Park Characters can use the seesaws to their advantage by launching anyone or anything on the opposite side across the field. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Normal Level Stages *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* 1. All Together Now In All Together Now, the game begins with all characters next to one another in the center of the battlefield. 2. Every Which Way This stage is filled with pipes sticking out of the ground. A bomb placed in one of them will be transported to another. 3. Winter Wonderland This stage contains a number of different igloos that can be used for hiding. There are weak spots in the ice that can be blown apart, and any bomb that goes off inside an igloo will explode with maximum force. 4. Coming and Going Coming and Going is just like the Factory stage, but the direction of the conveyer belts can be changed. 5. Block World Another update, this stage is just like "One Way Street", except it has markers that can change the direction of a moving bomb. 6. Head in the Clouds There are two platforms on this stage, the sky and the clouds. To traverse from each platform characters bounce on trampolines. 7. Switcheroo Another update, Switcheroo is like "Take the Train" but the layout of the train tracks is randomly generated. 8. Seesaw Land An update of of "SeeSaw Park", this time the seesaw's move in sync with the others. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Advanced Level Stages *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* 1. Superpower There isn't anything special about this stage besides the fact that everyone starts out with maximum bomb blasts. 2. Destination Unknown A more advanced "Switcheroo", this stage has warp zones and a truck that enters them. 3. King of the Jungle A remake of "Block World", in this stage trees with leaves that hide the ground have been added and any bomb that goes off underneath one explodes with maximum firepower. 4. The Seven Seas Any bombs that go in the ocean sink to the bottom. Complete with biting fish! 5. The Fast Lane A new version of "Coming and Going", a switch that can change the speed of the belt has been added. 6. Incoming! A remake of "Pipe City", a bomb kicked through one of the pipes or a bomb blast that extends towards a pipe has it's direction changed. 7. Round and Round Anyone who runs into a flower will be turned 90 degrees. The flowers are grouped in twos, and if one of the flowers gets caught in a bomb blast, the blast will redirect to the other. 8. Robo Bomber This stage has a giant robot that walks around the stage. If a character is stepped on they will be paralyzed for a short amount of time. ****************************************************************************** Section 4: Normal Mode Guide ****************************************************************************** *NOTE* As far as I know, both modes of the normal game are exactly the same except for the graphics. After every five stages, you'll get the chance to play a bonus round. In bonus rounds, Bomberman has infinite health and can't be killed and there are an unlimited amount of enemies to kill to rack up a ton of points. However, there is a time limit, so try to kill as many guys as you can!
