Introduction ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to my first Walkthrough! Hopefully I will be able to guide you through all aspects of this wonderful game and answer any questions you may have previously had. In Bob the Builder: Can We Fix It? we follow the adventures of Bob, a contract Builder and his friends which include a variety of human and mechanical characters. You participate in rescue missions, building operations, square dancing and so much more. Without further ado, let us begin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Menu & Controls ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ========== The Office ========== This is the main menu of BTBCWFI disguised as an urban office workspace. Here you can access all of the activities and the options menu. By using the directional buttons you can choose what you would like to do and press the X button to select it. Here is where every object/area in the Office will take you to when selected. |Job: Porcupine Rescue |Object/Area: Mail in-Tray |Job: Travis' Race Day |Object/Area: Diary |Job: Plumbing Puzzle |Object/Area: Phone |Job: Can We Build It? |Object/Area: Computer |Job: Bubble Trouble |Object/Area: Fax |Job: Scary Spud |Object/Area: Memo on notice board |Job: Wendy's Birthday |Object/Area: Party invite on notice board |Job: Where's Pilchard? |Objects/Areas: Mail in-tray, Fax, Computer, Memo on notice board and Party invite on notice board |Job: Parental Options |Object/Area Filing cabinet ======== Controls ======== The controls in this game are very simplistic as this game was meant for a younger audience, but differ slightly from activity to activity. All movement can be done with the directional buttons or the left analog stick. Some games require use of the X button to perform certain actions. The start button can be used any time to access the in-game menu. No other buttons are used in this game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Walkthrough ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All jobs can be done on Easy, Medium and Hard mode. Before selecting which job you can choose one hardhat for easy, two hardhats for medium and three hardhats for hard depending on which difficulty you want. There are no extra rewards or advantages for completing a mission on hard mode. The jobs and activities can be done in any order at any time. ===================== 3/a. Porcupine Rescue ===================== Tunnel Time Mission: "Help Lofty build a safe porcupine subway." The porcupines need to cross the road, but it's not safe! You must use Lofty's "loftiness" abilities to complete the underground pipeline. This is a basic matching game. Several pieces of pipe will appear on the ground, by moving your hook and pressing X you can pick up your desired piece. To add the piece to the pipeline simply hover the piece over the incompleted area that matches your piece and press X again to lower it in. Repeat this process several times with each piece and those porcupines will be safe from traffic in no time. This activity is quite easy as there is no time limit and you can keep trying as long as you like. ===================== 3/b. Travis' Race Day ===================== Race with Scoop and Dizzy Mission: "Race [Scoop/Dizzy] against Travis to prove who is the fastest!" It's a high stakes, take all, no rules race to the finish. Who will win? You shall decide! In this game you can choose to be either Scoop or Dizzy (it doesn't make a difference, both they handle the same) to race with. You race with a 2D overview and there are three laps to each race. Acceleration can be done by holding up on the directional pad or left analog stick or by holding the X button. To slow down, simply release whatever method you are using, there are no brakes. The key to this game is avoiding the on-track obstacles which range from pylons, to old fashioned wagon wheels to hurdles. Running into any one of these (or your opponent, Travis) causes you to drop back quite a distance, but don't worry! By moving out of the way you'll be back on track in a jiffy! ==================== 3/c. Plumbing Puzzle ==================== Radiator Riddle Mission: "Help Bob and Wendy fit the new central heating." Mrs. Potts' heating system has gone haywire! It's time for Bob and his wife Wendy to step in and make things right. Ah yes, another matching game. The challenge here it to fix this poor womans radiators and heating. This can be accomplished matching the parts Wendy gives you to the outlines scattered throughout the house. Remember that each part is colour coded to a specific room inside the house. The rooms are as follows, from left to right: PURPLE (the bedroom), BLUE (the foyer), RED (the living room), GREEN (the kitchen). To get a part from Wendy simply walk up to her and you shall receive, Wendy is located in the Kitchen. Once you've got your first part first look at it's colour. Then when you have figured out which room it corresponds to find the outline that matches it best inside the room. Pressing the X button in front of the outline should allow Bob to implement the piping or radiator. Report back to Wendy for your next piece. Once all of the outlines are filled the heating will be fixed and it'll be a job well done. Fix the Leaks Mission: "Quick! Help Bob fix the leaks in the pipes." A race against the clock as you fight for your life or prepare to be swallowed up in a watery grave. The same house as in Radiator Riddle, but this time you have to fix leaks, and this time there's a danger. Time. As Bob your goal is to fix all of the leaky pipes before it's too late. Walk around until you find a leak, then standing in front of it, press the X button to mend it. Repeat this process several times until the meter in the top right corner is full and the house is leak free! If you can hear a strong dripping noise there is still a leak in the room. Congratulations, you've fixed Mrs. Potts' house, she is very happy! ===================== 3/d. Can We Build It? ===================== Knock It Down Mission: "Help Lofty knowck the old bridge down safely." Lightning has struck the old town bridge, Lofty is sent out to risk his life and destroy it completely before there are any more casualties! Lofty is controlled automatically so the only button you'll need here is the good ole' X button. But it won't be that easy, in order to do this, one must have a tonne of concentration. When Lofty's wrecking ball is in front of one of the four towers holding up the bridge slam down the X button to swing that baby to rubble! It will take a few hits to completely destroy each one. Once each tower no longer exists your mission will be completed. Build It Up Mission: "Help Lofty build the bridge one section at a time." Using Lofty's titanic strength you must rebuild the bridge and save the world from congested traffic! Alright, we've taken down the old bridge, time to put up a new one. To start, we've got two types of bridge materials sitting on the ground. We have the pole shaped materials, and the underwear (O_o) shaped materials. There are four sets of materials (red, white, yellow and grey) having one of each shaped materials in each group. To build each section of the bridge you must pick up a piece by hovering the crane above and pressing X. First you'll want the pole shaped pieces, once a pole piece is picked up move it above the section that matches its colour, and press X once more to drop it. Next you'll need the underwear shaped piece and do the same except place it on top of the pole piece of the same colour. Once all four supports are built, the bridge will be completed! =================== 3/e. Bubble Trouble =================== Bubble Trouble Mission: "Quick! Help Roley pop all the bubbles." Bob has set down some concrete, but something has gone wrong! The bubbles are ruining it. As Roley, eliminate as many enemy bubbles as you can. Basically in this job you must maneuver Roley the steam roller over bubbles which randomly appear over the square landscape. To win, you must completely fill up the bubble meter in the top right corner of the screen. But act fast because there is a time limit and bubbles pop after a short amount of time! I find it helps to stay in the center and immediatly make your way towards the emerging bubbles. =============== 3/f. Scary Spud =============== Scary Spud Mission: "Help Spud scare the hungry crows away from the seeds." Crows are invading the field and stealing your seeds, chase the winged vermin away as Spud the moving Scarecrow! Scary Spud is a slightly enhanced and more difficult version of Bubble Trouble. Except this time you are not a steam roller, you are a scarecrow. And you're not running over bubbles, but scaring crows. When the crows land you walk over to them to scare them away, and the crow meter in the bottom left corner will begin to fill up. IMPORTANT: the crows must touch the ground before you scare them or the meter will NOT fill up. Additionally there is now a seed meter, which if filled up means you lost too many seeds from those darned crows, the game will end. Take too long and the time meter will fill up, again you will lose. Just look for groups of crows, wait until they land and then release full hell on them. When the X button is pressed Spud will emit one of two flatulence noises, I do not know the purpose of this and it seems to not effect gameplay, although it is very amusing. ===================== 3/g. Wendy's Birthday ===================== Cake-tastic! Mission: "Help Bob decorate a birthday cake for Wendy." With your powerful designing skills it is up to YOU to create the ultimate cake for Wendy. To start, we've got a plain vanilla cake. Time to spruce it up a bit. On the side you can select which tool to decorate with by selecting it with the X button. I have created a list of every possible topping. Let your imagination free when creating the biggest, best cake you can! Chocolate chips: regular chocolate chips, small silver chocolates. Candles: plain red, red/green swirl, blue/white swirl, yellow/white swirl, blue/yellow swirl. Icing: green, blue, white (cake default), gold, pink. Machinery decorations: Dizzy, Lofty, Roley, Scoop, Tractor, Muck. Wild West Wendy Mission: "Enjoy a dance with Bob and Wendy!" It's square dancing time! This was easily the most amusing part of the entire game. Dancing is a simple as pressing a directional button. I've included a list of every dance move so you can dish out some moves. Each move ends with a left foot step and then a right foot step. So far I have been able to get eight dance moves into one session. You will be opted to play back or make a new dance sequence after when finished. Up: snap fingers twice, two steps. Down: touch each foot with the opposite hand, two steps. Left: slide, wave hands in air, two steps. Right: clap, two steps. ====================== 3/h. Where's Pilchard? ====================== Mission: "Help Wendy find where Pilchard is hiding." Pilchard is missing, but it's almost dinnertime! Use your detective training to find that sneaky cat. Using a dinner bowl as a cursor you must find Pilchard (a blue cat) in several different scenes. In all honesty it is the easiest thing I have done in my life. Ever. Pilchard is usually fully exposed or has it's large tail sticking out through its hiding place. Once you've spotted it navigate the dinner bowl over the cat and press X to capture it and make it eat its dinner. If you are having trouble the purring sound of the cat will increase in volume the closer the bowl is. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.
