The vomit will bring down park ratings, so to avoid this, a) build plenty of benchs and bins outside rollercoaster exits, b) build plenty of tolites and first aid stands near high nausea rides, c) assign specific handymen just to sweep up at ride exits. o Never build shops near a rollercoaster, a guest with a low nausea rating going on a high intensity ride with a full stomach isn't good for your path. o It is a good idea to build drink stalls at rollercoaster exits. Guests generally develop a thirst after queueing for ages. o By themeing roller coasters you can boost the excitement rating and thus the amount you can charge. o Guests will generally appriciate longer rides more, althought you can have rides a few seconds long that will have high excitement ratings, guests will feel they are getting better value if the ride lasts longer and this boosts park ratings. o You can build some or all of a rollercoaster underground, this boosts the excitement rating but is expensive. o Synchroniseing rollercoasters increases the excitement rating even more - however ride exits can be tricky to build. o Building longer platforms often means more trains can be running, this means more people can use your rollercoasters at any one time. o You can add tv moniters to queues to keep guests happy. o The rain makes people avoid rollercoasters but if you have covered ones, then they will still ride them. o Be creative with space, you can usually fit most rollercoasters into less than 20x20 squares. Always make the most use of tunnels underground, tight corners and height. However you can spread rollercoasters out in parks like Gravity Gardens. o Entangling two or more rollercoaster adds hugely to excitement, in other words, build two or more rollercoasters beside each other and overlap, build underneath, through loops etc. o Its far cheaper to build on land than over water or underground, so make the most of the space you have on land. o You should always build the rollercoaster first - then add themeing, shops, new rides, new paths etc., the rollercoaster is always the first item in a new section of a park because it is the biggest. o Only build rides you would be prepared to go on yourself, that will always be the best guide to ratings. o Change the car/train in use every now and then so people will come back and go on it again. o Experimentation is the best thing for getting used to building rollercoasters. o Remember, you don't have to spend thousands to get a popular coaster, a good cheap one is far better than a bad expensive one. o The main cause of crashes are high speeds over bumps, so if theres a section of the rollercoaster that is particularly bumpy or has high speeds, a set of brakes might help. ______________________________________________________________________________ 1-B - On-ride-photos ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ An on ride photo section is a photo section on a rollercoaster, it takes photos of all the passengers and as they leave they may buy a photo, thus boosting revenue. o If you can always build a photo-section. They boost individual roller coaster profits. o I recommend charging the default suggested by the game of €2.00 and making this a standard park-wide. o Try to locate photo sections near drops, water features or other exciting rollercoaster features. o Don't worry if only a few seem to buy photos, the standard figure is about 1 in 5. ______________________________________________________________________________ 1-C - Queues ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ How you design queues can be as important as how you design the actual rollercoasters, people will often spend 20 min in the queue and just 1 min on the actual ride. o You can keep people in the queues happy by adding TV moniters to the queues, they will help build up anticipation for people queueing for the ride. o If a queue is over 30 min long it is a good idea to assign an entertainer to that ride, this keeps people from complaining - "I've been queueing for Mini Miner for ages." o In parks where it frequently rains, it is advisable to build roofs over the queues, again this keeps people happy and stops them complaining. o Make the queue part of the ride, build bridges and tunnels that intersect with the rides drops/twists/splash sections to help build up excitement, you can even theme the edges of the queue to again add excitement. o In parks that have free rides, keep queues at a medium lenght, this is to make a compromise between these two a) it is often better to have people queueing than to have them walking around making the place crowded (which deters new guests, b) short queues mean there are more people walking around to buy things from shops. o In parks that you charge for each ride, queues should never be longer than twice the rides capacity (if ride holds 20 people queue should hold 40 people.) To achieve a comfortable ride, the launch speed should be carefully chosen so the train is travelling at a minimum speed over the crest of the hill.
