I don’t like Barbarians one tiny bit but I’m sure there are some people who do. So to please them I decided to write this guide. Copyright of gummybearz2000 2004 3.0 BARBARIAN STUFF And now, ladies & gentlemen, humans and creatures alike please feel free to feast your eyes on the part you’ve been waiting for.... THE BARBARIAN STUFF! (Insert applause here). 3.1 BARBARIAN CREATURES Here I will list the creature’s name, attack skill, defense skill, damage range, cost, HP (hit points), speed and my opinion of them 1. GOBLIN Attack: 3 Defense: 1 Damage: 1-2 Cost: 40 Gold HP: 3 Speed: Average (4 hexes/turn) Pretty Bad. You can have some glory when fighting Peasants and maybe Sprites but that’s about it. Masses of Goblins should be used to protect Trolls and Orcs. 2. ORC Attack: 3 Defense: 4 Damage: 2-3 Cost: 140 Gold HP: 10 Speed: Very Slow (2 hexes/turn) A ranged creature. It’ll probably be dead before you get to use it though. Useful when Trolls come because the troll will get stuck in hand-to-hand combat leaving the Orcs free to fire. 3. ORC CHEIFTAN (Upgrade of Orc) Attack: 3 Defense: 4 Damage: 3-4 Cost: 175 Gold HP: 15 Speed: Slow (3 hexes/turn) Better. But still to slow. Maybe if its speed was average then we’d have a force to reckon with.... 4. WOLF Attack: 6 Defense: 2 Damage: 3-5 Cost: 200 Gold HP: 20 Speed: Very Fast (6 hexes/turn) Nice! The 2 attack bonus makes them a big threat to enemies. Also their high speed lets them get into the fray before they die. Although their pitiful 2 for defense leaves them vulnerable to ranged units. 5. OGRE Attack: 9 Defense: 5 Damage: 4-6 Cost: 300 Gold HP: 40 Speed: Very Slow (2 hexes/turn) The only good defense in all of the Barbarian troops which makes them ideal for castle defense. 6. OGRE LORD (Upgrade of Ogre) Attack: 9 Defense: 5 Damage: 5-7 Cost: 500 Gold HP: 60 Speed: Average (4 hexes/turn) Amazing! These guys almost made me like Barbarians! ALMOST that is. 7. TROLL Attack: 10 Defense: 5 Damage: 5-7 Cost: 600 Gold HP: 40 Speed: Average: Nice ranged units but will be the enemy magnet once recruited. Protect with Goblins or Ogres. 8. WAR TROLL (Upgrade of Troll) Attack: 10 Defense: 5 Damage: 7-9 Cost: 700 Gold HP: 40 Speed: Fast (5 hexes/turn) Best range unit for Barbarian. You MUST have these in your army to be even half-decent! Any Barbarian army that is War Troll-less isn’t an army. 9. CYCLOPS Attack: 12 Defense: 9 Damage: 12-24 Cost: 750 Gold + 1 Crystal HP: 80 Speed: Fast (5 hexes/turn) Attack effects 2 hexes. A bit of a rip-off. One of the worst if not the worst end unit in the game. 3.2 BARBARIAN SPECIAL BUILDINGS I will list here the building’s name, cost, requirements and effect. Notice the amounts of Ore you need.... 1. HUT Cost: 300 Gold Requirements: N/A Effect: Generates 10 Goblins/week 2. STICK HUT Cost: 800 Gold + 5 Wood Requirements: Hut Effect: Generates 8 Orcs/week 3. UPGRADED STICK HUT Cost: 1200 Gold + 5 Wood Requirements: Adobe, Den, Stick Hut Effect: Upgrades Orcs to Orc Chieftains and Generates 8 Orc Chieftains/week 4. DEN Cost: 1000 Gold Requirements: Hut Effect: Generates 5 Wolves/week 5. ADOBE Cost: 2000 Gold + 10 Wood + 10 Ore Requirements: Hut Effect: Generates 4 Ogres/week 6. UPGRADED ADOBE Cost: 3000 Gold + 5 Wood + 5 Ore Requirements: Adobe, Den, Stick Hut Effect: Upgrades Ogres to Ogre Lords and Generates 4 Ogre Lords/week 7. BRIDGE Cost: 4000 Gold + 20 Ore Requirements: Adobe, Den, Stick Hut Effect: Generates 3 Trolls/week 8. UPGRADED BRIDGE Cost: 2000 Gold + 10 Ore Requirements: Bridge Effect: Upgrades Trolls to War Trolls and Generates 3 War Trolls/week 9. PYRAMID Cost: 6000 Gold + 20 Ore + 20 Crystal Requirements: Bridge Effect: Generates 2 Cyclopses/week 10. GARBAGE HEAP Cost: 1000 Gold Requirements: N/A Effect: +8 Goblins/week 11. COLISEUM Cost: 2000 Gold + 10 Wood + 10 Ore Requirements: N/A Effect: +2 Morale when defending Castle 3.3 BARBARIAN STATISTICS Here I will list what a Barbarian Hero is like when you first recruit it. And what skills it is more likely to improve in. Your new Barbarian will have the following stats: ATTACK SKILL: 3 DEFENCE SKILL: 1 SPELL POWER: 1 KNOWLEDGE: 1 Your new Barbarian will have the following secondary skills: Advanced Pathfinding A Barbarian at the levels 2-9 have the following chances of gaining stat points Attack: 55% Defense: 35% Spell Power: 5% Knowledge: 5% A Barbarian at the levels 10+ have the following chances of gaining stat points Attack: 30% Defense: 30% Spell Power: 20% Knowledge: 20% 3.4 BARBARIAN HEROES These are the Barbarians in the game: Thundax Fineous JoJosh Crag Hack Jezebel Jaclyn Ergon Tsabu Atlas 3.5 BARBARIAN STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES STRENGTHS: ATTACK SKILL: The Barbarians have the highest Attack Skill in all. Meaning that you should expect to take high damage from these guys. WEAKNESSES: DEFENSE SKILL: The Barbarian’s poor defense (with the exception of Ogres) makes them incredibly vulnerable when defending the castle. SPELL POWER: The low chance of increasing Spell Power creates disappointing results when casting spells like Lightning Bolt, Cold Ray and Fireblast. WISDOM CHANCE: The low chance of learning wisdom (1/5) can leave you making all the effort to save up for a 5th level Mage Guild, only to find out that your highly experienced Barbarian who learned as many secondary skills allowed per hero and wisdom wasn’t one of them. SPEED: The Barbarians slow speed creatures (compared to other hero types) can leave you with very few, if any, troops alive before your turn. 3.6 BARBARIAN’S EASIEST ENEMY & HARDEST ENEMY The Barbarians are very good against the Knight. Here’s why: MATCH-UPS Goblin v Peasant: Peasants are the worst unit in the game. Need I say more? Orc Cheitan v Ranger: Rangers have more shots but they will be shooting at the troll Wolf v Pikeman: The Pikemen’s high att. & def. Make it tough but wolves get 2 attacks... Ogre v Swordsmam: The Swordsman cannot take the Ogres overwhelming skills. Troll v Cavalry: The Troll regenerates. Is that enough? Or are you a doubster.. Cyclops v Crusader: Crusaders are the worst end units in the game. Need I say more? The Barbarians are very crap against the Necromancer. Here’s why: MATCH-UPS Goblin v Skeleton: The Skeleton is the best level 1 unit in the game. Orc Cheiftan v Mutant Zombie: You may have a chance but the Zombie’s durability is too much for the Orc. Wolf v Mummy: The Wolf can definitely win, if it isn’t cursed that is. Ogre v Vampire: Vampire definitely. Ogres can’t counter but Vampires can. Troll v Lich: The Troll and it’s surrounding defenders are very much screwed with the Lich’s splash damage. Cyclops v Bone Dragon: The Cyclops’ MAXIMUM damage is 24. The Bone Dragon’s MINIMUM damage is 25. Also the Bone Dragon is immune to curse. 4.0 NEEDED SKILLS Ranking. The higher on the list, the more it is needed (Pathfinding excluded) WISDOM (for extra spells) LOGISTICS (because you can’t have pathfinding and not have logistics) SCOUTING (because you can’t have logistics and not have scouting) NAVIGATION (so logistics can be used on land and sea) MYSTICISM (because you can’t have wisdom and not have mysticism) LUCK (because it is otherwise hard for Barbarians to strike lucky) ARCHERY (so your Orcs and Trolls can do that bit more damage to enemies) ESTATES (because Barbarians seem to spend a lot of gold on stuff) DIPLOMACY (because of the Barbarian’s poor defense you’d rather have camps join you instead of fighting you) BALLISTICS (so you can siege enemy castles) EAGLE EYE (the low chance of wisdom makes this not necessary) LEADERSHIP (the morale boost from the coliseum is enough) NECROMANCY (you can’t learn it) 5.0 NEEDED SPELLS Here I will list the most needed spell from each level. LEVEL I: Stoneskin: To eliminate the poor defense skill penalty LEVEL II: Lightning Bolt: Because it is just so good! Cold Ray isn’t bad either LEVEL III: Teleport: So you can get your Ogre into the fray before the battle ends. LEVEL IV: Chain Lightning: So you can hurt your enemy so badly. LEVEL V: Hypnotize: To waste a really good enemy monster’s turn. 6.0 THE SKILL SCALE Here I will list the skill’s name and the chance of learning it (out of 5) ARCHERY: 3 BALLISTICS: 3 DIPLOMACY: 2 EAGLE EYE: 1 ESTATES: 2 LEADERSHIP: 3 LOGISTICS: 3 LUCK: 2 MYSTICISM: 1 NAVIGATION: 3 NECROMANCY: 0 PATHFINDING: 4 SCOUTING: 4 WISDOM: 1 7.0 CONTACT ME!!!
