COPYRIGHT INFO VIII.THANKS - INTRO - First of all, you may be wondering why my title is kind of ugly. The answer: I don't have much time right now. If you want to see my nice FAQ artwork, go check out my Majora's Mask FAQ. Now the second question you might have is "WHY THE HECK IS THIS GUY WASTING HIS TIME WRITING A FAQ FOR A RANDOM GAME?" Well there are many reasons. The main reason is I like this game. Believe it or not, it was one of my favorite NES games a looooong time ago (like, before I went to school . . . yeah, that long ago). Another reason for writing this is because nobody else has written a FAQ for this game. It's kinda cool being the only person who has written one. Another reason is I like Star Trek a lot (though the original series is my least favorite, I still like this game). So, instead of wasting your time with a bunch of useless junk at the beginning like most FAQ writers, I'll get right into it! - OVERVIEW / CONTROLS - This game has two main types of play: away missions (the most fun and most time consuming), and on the Enterprise (not much happens). On the Enterprise, you can talk to people on the bridge and find out the status of the mission. You can also look at a map of the area (until you download the map from the temple computer, you can't get much info from this). Using the map, you can go to different planets (if you have enough dilithium). You can also hail ships and activate red-alert, which you don't need to do very often. Basically, not much happens on the Enterprise. The real action is on the planets. At one point, you will have to fight a Romulan ship (the second one, not the first). To fight, use the Control Pad to look around, press A to fire phasers and press B to shoot photon torpedoes. On the planets, you can explore, talk to people, and shoot your phasers at bad things (I say "things" because there are lots of different things to shoot, not just aliens or animals). To talk to people, press A. You can also use "A" to investigate things with the tricorder. Use B to fire your phaser. If you're using it on living things, make sure it's set to STUN. Otherwise, you might get a nasty message from Starfleet. To pause the game, talk to the away team, and use items, press START. To view the health of the current crew members, press SELECT. This also pauses the game. - WALKTHROUGH - + STORY + (some things may be off a little) On an episode of Star Trek called "A Piece of the Action," the crew visited the planet Sigma Iotia II. There they discovered that the Iotians had found a book about Chicago mobs left behind by another starship. The Iotians had adapted their culture after the book, so now they used cars, played cards, and had a bunch of gangstas and stuff. McCoy accidentally left his communicator behind, and the people on Sigma Iotia found it . . . --- Captain's Log, Stardate 2931.3. Whille investigating the strange gravi- tational disturbances in the Sigma Iotia system, the Enterprise was caught in a dimensional gate. Unable to break free from it's intense gravitational field, we were transported far away into the uncharted reaches of space. Now we must find our way back home, wherever that may be . . . + MASABA + The first planet you start on is Masaba. First, shoot a plant (the kind that shoots back) and take it south to the Village of the Cat People. Enter the Medicine Man's hut (near the entrance) and throw the plant on the fire to get the repellant. Now go to the swamp east of the main grass area. Explore the northern side of the swamp to find the eye key (shoot the swamp beasts with phasers). Take the eye key to the temple in the north part of the grass area. Open the door with the key. Enter the temple and continue until you get the faces on the wall that say only one at a time. Follow this pattern: 1ST ROOM 2ND ROOM 3RD ROOM 4TH ROOM 3X##-### 3##X-### 3###-#X# 3X##-### 2#X#-### 2#X#-### 2##X-### 2X##-### 1###-#X# 1###-#X# 1##X-### 1###-X## Step on the "X"s, not the "#". If you hit more than 2 #'s, you'll have to re- turn to the Enterprise. In the final room, approach the 6 tiles on the wall in this order: 3 5 4 2 6 1 This means, walk up to the one on the far right first, walk away, then approach 2 straight on. If you walk in front of any others out of order, you'll have to start over. Once you activate all six, the main computer will come on line and the door on the right will open, which leads to the dilithium room. Update your map at the main computer terminal, then enter the dilithium room. Take the low-grade dilithium and return to the Enterprise. + LEKYTHOS + You'll have to make no less than three trips down to this planet. It's located to the right of Masaba on the map (small and blue). Once you have the dilithium from Masaba, choose Lekythos on the map, then set a course. When you arrive, take an away team down to the surface with Spock and McCoy. Walk around a bit, but don't go too far (you don't need to). Let the dragons attack you a couple of times or whatever until Spock says "Those dragons are nothing more than illusions." He'll then mind meld with everyone (walk over to him, face him, and press "A"). Now that everyone has been mind-melded with, return to the ship. Change your party to include Spock and a Geologist. Return to the surface. The geologist will mention that there is a small amount of dilithium south-west. Head west, then south (then east). Set your phasers to Full, then repeatedly shoot the cliff face north of the three rocks (if you think this takes a long time, heh, just wait . . .). Once a small sparkle appears on the cliff (one that stays there when you quit shooting), take it, then return to the ship. No, you still can't leave. Change the landing party to Spock and a security officer then return to the planet. Head south, then east to the next area. From here, head south. Once you reach the floating robot, let Spock repair it, then put the small dilithium crystal into it to make it fly away. Now continue on the trail until you reach the cave. This is where the security officer really comes in handy. Make sure the phasers are set to full (100% sure!), then begin firing away at the door. You may want to grab a book (seriously), this will take a while. Just keep on shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . and shooting . . . etc. You'll know it's almost gone when it turns really bright blue (it will flash each time you hit it, but when it really goes all crazy, you'll know it's almost gone). Enter the now empty doorway. In this underground area, you'll find enough dilithium to get you back, but it's tough. You need to find the three modules, red, yellow, and blue. Explore until you find the area with the three terminals (with the three colored pockets). From there, go to the left, then up to find the room that looks like World War XII just hit. Quickly take out the security robot (the security officer will help if he can), then take down the other one (with phaser fire, obviously). Grab the blue module, then return to the three-computer area. From there, go up, then kinda left, up and right (around the wall), then to the right and up (etc. it'd hard to describe, you'll find it). Explore to find the red module. From the red module, go down to find the garbage room. Take a sample, then return to the three-computer area. Just above the blue pocket, go in the door. Be ready, quickly toss the trash through the force field (you'll have to go left one step, then go all the way up to the field, pause, then throw). As soon as the trash is on top of the last module, run to the right wall to dodge the robot (don't worry if anybody else is injured). The maint- enance robot will gather the trash, AND the module! As soon as it's on your side of the force field, shoot it down to retrieve the last module. Place all the modules in their color-coordinated slots to reactivate the computer. Once the cryogenic reawakening systems are activated, go to the left, then down to the single cryogenic chamber. The girl inside will wake up, explain some stuff, then she'll give you high-grade dilithium. You'll then return to the ship where Spock will say something about how the closest planet with more dilithium is Shroud IV, which seems kinda silly. In the TV show, they didn't have to worry about loosing dilithium every time they went somewhere! Anyway, set a course for Shroud IV. A Romulan ship will appear and will escort you to Shroud IV. + SHROUD IV+ This planet has a lot of illegal trading and black market stuff going on. Beam down, then go to the right to get the little green root on the ground. Go south and then around to the hotel. Before you go there, stun the butterfly and pick it up ("Damn it Jim, I'm a docter, not an entymologist!!"). Go a little ways to the right and grab the flower. Go up to the hotel. Grab the access card lying on the table and use it to enter the first room to the right. Talk to the green girl lying on the bed and give her the flower. She'll give you a remote control which you can use on the small rock on the path to the other building. Use it, then take the three items there, credits, saurian drink, and the letter. Use the credits to enter the other building, then use the butterfly to get past the big green guy (Gorn, maybe?). Ignore the guy with the funky hat, then go past and listen to the conversation bewteen Harry Mudd and the romulans. He's offer- ing to give them Starfleet codes in excange for dilithium and a new cloaking device. Not very nice to Starfleet. Return to the entrance area and go to the right to meet Harry (the Romulans left). Show him the letter to make him feel guilty, then go to the hotel. Go to the second room (to the right of the one with the green girl in it, she's gone now). Spock will notice there's phaser fire on the wall, so walk towards the bed. Scotty will contact you, saying that there's a distress call coming from an area nearby. Let him transport you there and enter the rock in the lower-right corner to find a hidden Romulan prison. Go down into the lower room and take the sheet from the table. Now go to the upper room. Walk right up to the security camera and put the sheet onto it. Go into the next room and get caught. Press START and choose the Spock icon to talk to him. He'll mind meld with the romulan guard, who will open the door and then collapse. Exit the brig and enter the next door. Deactiveate the force field at the green panel to the left to set Harry Free. Exit the prison, then read the note that Harry left for you outside. You'll be transported back to Harry's room where he left more dilithium for you. Take it. + SIGMA IOTIA + As soon as you return to the ship, a Romulan ship will approach. They'll get all angry at you for setting Mudd free and then they will promptly begin firing upon you. Destroy their ship (press A to fire phasers and B to fire photon torpedoes). Once they're out of the way, set a course for Iotia. Before going down to the planet, change your away team to include Spock and the Historian. When you first arrive at this planet, it will be completely in ruins. A library card was left in the pile of books, so take it. Enter the library and use the card on the computer. The historian will use the computer and describe what happened. You'll automatically return to the ship and perform the Warp Speed Breakaway Maneuver. Once you've traveled through time, return to the planet's surface with McCoy this time. This whole area is kinda dominated by a bunch of ganstas, so be careful. The first thing you should do after you land is to go west and enter the shop. Immediately shoot down the two gangstas, then check one of them. Take the diamond, then talk to the shop owner to get a marked deck of cards. Now exit the building. Go south and pick up the bone. Talk to the man with the dog and have Bones help him ("Damn it, Jim, I'm a docter, not a veterinarian!") The man will give you a gumball...! Go east between the buildings and pick up the hairpin, then continue going east. Along the road you should see a stick, so pick it up. Go north up to the storm drain and use the stick, then use the gum- ball to get the coins out of the storm drain (thanks Mom!). Now head south and enter the Weezel, a bar and casino. Talk to the bartender to get Oxmyx's phone number, then revive the unconscious guy. Give him the diamond in exchange for the phony plates. Take those to the police station (the large building with the police man inside). The police have been looking for these plates, so give them to the policeman to bust up the gang. Now go into the building to the west. Use the hairpin on the door in the back and then use the bone. Enter the door to find the machines used to make counterfeit money . . . heh heh, looks like there's a big ol' pile of money in the back . . . hey, you're gonna be using it to gamble, so it's the Bonehead's loss that it's fake . . . (note: I do NOT approve of using counterfeit money in real life). Take the five grand and leave the building. Out by the street is a phone booth. Use the coins on it, then give the operator the number. Oxmyx has info on the communicator, so head down to his place which is west of the Weezel. Don't worry about the tough looking guy with the machine gun. Just go on in and talk to Oxmyx. After explaining some stuff, he'll offer to call Krako and tell him you'd like to talk to him. Now go to Krako's place, just east of the Police Station. He'll tell you that Bonehead Malone currently has the communicator. The Bonehead is in the casino of the Weezel, so return there and enter the casino in the back. Walk up to the Bonehead and give him the money. REFUSE to play with him, then give him your deck of cards . . . heh heh heh, those cards are marked . . . + THE END + - PASSCODES - Here is an archive of all the passcodes I have from years and years ago (and some from recently).
