Introduction -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Pachinko Daisakusen 2 is the second game in its series for the Famicom. It is still about playing pachinko, but the premise is a little bit different. The game takes on more of a detective theme, in that you must use clues provided to you, in order to catch up to another agent. Of course, that involves playing quite a bit of pachinko! There are four stages this time, which may seem short, but it really comes down to luck after a while. I thought the first game in the series was more interesting, but this one is worth trying as well. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 3. Overview -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =================== General Information =================== Before you reach the title screen, you will be asked if you want to use the special Pachinko Controller (パチンコ コントローラー) to play, or use the regular Controller (コントローラー). This only affects how you control the pachinko machines when you play. After you make your selection, you will go to the title screen. When you start off, you can either start a New Game, or Continue a previous game by entering a 12-character password. When you start a new game, you will be asked if you want there to be a timer, so select Yes/No. If you use the timer, it means you will have a 10-minute time limit to clear a given machine. When you go to a machine initially, you will have 100 balls (even if your total tally is more than that). If you run out of balls at the machine, you will lose a life and go back to the shop counter in an injured state. Lose three times and the game is over. Somewhere in the parlor, you will find a woman behind a counter; she runs the shop where you buy items. The main premise of the game is to catch up with Agent #777 (Marilyn). At the start of each stage, you will be shown a memo with a numbered list, and a number on each line. This coincides to the actual pachinko machines you need to play on. If you play at (and clear) the machine whose number matches the memo, you will receive a note saying "NEXT ##" with the next machine number you should be playing on. After completing that machine, you will either be directed to another one, or you will be given three buttons, one of which you can press. This is where luck comes in. You will either go back to the same parlor room you are in and have to continue playing machines like you were, you will fall into a penalty room where you must clear three machines to escape, or you will go to the next parlor/stage. Each stage has two parlors, and you will get a new memo before entering each. When you escape the second parlor, you will go on to the next stage. At the end of the fourth stage, you will finally meet Marilyn and the game will be complete. Congratulations! ========== Game Menus ========== Pachinko Machine ---------------- Balls Remaining in Machine (打止在) Your Balls Remaining (もち玉) Pause Menu (in parlor) ---------------------- Score (スコア) Your Balls Remaining (モチダム) Machines Cleared (ウチドメスウ) Items (アイテム) ===== Items ===== The following are items that can be bought in each stage, which will aid in your pachinko-playing. It is also a heavily popular form of gambling in Japan, which explains why there are so many of these games on this and other systems! Anyway, the game board has a layout with nails sticking out, which the metal balls bounce off of or fall in between, in order to traverse the board. Also on the board are certain compartments where if a metal ball falls into it, you will receive points. If a ball makes it to the bottom of the board without landing in anything, you lose that ball (and a point). Initially, you start off with 100 balls (points). In this game, on the bottom-right area is a ring-shaped button with a smaller circle inside of it. This is the pressure control for launching the pachinko balls into the game board above. Use the Left/Right buttons to turn the knob, increasing or decreasing the pressure, allowing the metal balls to go shorter/farther with each shot. It is a good idea to continually fire balls while adjusting the pressure so you can have the best idea of what settings you like the most. Personally, I find that the best approach is to subtly move the pressure knob in the bottom-right corner until you start winning, then move it back and forth a couple of notches in that same area to keep the streak going. If you lose the streak, just keep moving the knob around until you hit it again. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 5.
