Introduction -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Moero!! Judo Warriors is a game for the Famicom where you participate in judo matches against fighters around the world. It is a simple concept that can be learned by those not familiar with the sport, and once you get the hang of it, I think it is a bit fun to play. You go around the world beating your opponents, then you can even compete in the Olympics! After each match, you can even build upon your character's stats. In any event, this game really is not that bad if you give it a fair chance, and that is coming from someone who learned the rules of judo fairly recently! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 3. Controls -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Start: Pause/resume game B: Throw opponent A + B: Use technique ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 4. Overview -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ========== Game Modes ========== When you begin, you can pick from two different modes. They are: 1PLAY: Play a new game or continue a previous one, in single player mode. 2PLAY: Enter a match against a second player. ======== Gameplay ======== The premise of this game is to travel around the world, defeating various opponents in Judo matches. Initially there are 6 locations you can travel to on the map. You face each opponent for five matches in each location (if you lose, you will have to try again or quit). Once you beat the six main regions, you will go ahead and enter the Olympics! You face a total of nine opponents from specific nations, with the final match being against the Soviet Union (go figure). Depending on your performance in the Olympics (how many matches you win/lose), you can win a gold, silver, or bronze medal at the end. At that point, the game is complete. In each match, you have some meters on the bottom of the screen. They are: Power: Your current strength, depletes as the match goes on. Chance: The likelihood you will be able to throw down your opponent. Waza Ari (わざあり): If you throw down your opponent when you are flashing, you will earn one of these. If both circles are red, you win the match. Sometimes you can win two Waza Ari at once, known as an Ippon, depending on the quality of your throw. Yuko (ゆうこう): These are the lesser point values you earn by throwing your opponent down normally. However, it can act as a tiebreaker, so if both sides have a Waza Ari, the person with a Yuko as well will win. Warning (けいこく): This is essentially a penalty, and each fighter is allowed two. This can come from doing nothing for a period of time, for example. If two penalties are incurred, the other opponent gets a Yuko. During the match, you grapple with your opponent back and forth, pressing A repeatedly to fill the Chance bar. If either opponent gets pushed out of the arena, the match stops briefly before continuing from the center position. If the Chance meter is full, your character will start flashing. In any event, when the meter is near full, this is your best chance at throwing down your opponent to score. If you are flashing, the chances are even better. Sometimes you can get pinned to the ground by your opponent. To break out of it, press A or B repeatedly quickly. If you are pinned for more than 10 seconds, the opponent will receive two Waza Ari and you will lose the match. In between each match, you will be able to add a point to boost your Strength, Technique, or Stamina. The amount of bonus points you receive depends on your performance, but you always win at least one and can win upwards of four. This certainly adds to the customization/building of your character, and really helps in later matches! ========= Opponents ========= Regional Opponents ------------------ Region A (North America) Region B (Central America) Region C (Africa) Region D (Asia) Region E (Europe) Region F (Middle East) Olympic Opponents ----------------- China Brazil Mexico Egypt U.K. Korea Kenya USA USSR ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 5.
