You'll find, I guarantee, that this guide/FAQ/walkthrough, whatever you choose to call it, will be the most comprehensive one for Mega Man 5 on the Internet, and on GameFAQs, guaranteed. It will have everything, and more, you'll need to beat this game in good time, with very little to no trouble. I find the Mega Man games/series very easy, but people in general can't touch the experience I have with the series, and hence have some (and sometimes a lot) of trouble with the games, and that's why I choose to write FAQs, not only for Mega Man games, but games in general - to help people that don't have the experience in a game that I do, exactly how I look on GameFAQs for help with games that other writers have more experience with than I do. It's like two sides of the coins. So enjoy the guide, it's here for your help and usage. Any questions, comments, or suggestions can be e-mailed to me, Colin Moriarty, at cmoriarty311@cs.com ...onward. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION IV - Storyline and Plot =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= While the Mega Man series, especially with the six Mega Man games on the NES, are hardly known for their stellar storylines, they do exist, in anycase. Mega Man 5's story goes a little something like this. When you turn on your NES, you'll get a screen that looks like-a this: (c) Capcom Co. Ltd. 1992 (c) Capcom U.S.A., Inc. 1991 Licensed by Nintendo [Screen 2] CAPCOM PRESENTS NOW... by the time you get to screen 3, the storyline begins, so I'm just going to copy it from the game, copyrighted to Capcom, (c) 1992, naturally, and anything in brackets describes the scenery. I do this because some people have messed up cartridges and/or ROMs and can't enjoy the game to it's full extent. This is why I consider this to be the most complete guide for Mega Man 5 you can get... it's very, very in-depth. Here we go: "In the year 20XX AD..." [as the picture changes, you see a picture of Protoman in front of a silhoutte of the eight robot masters in the game. After a few seconds, they all disperse into different directions. After that, they show a picture of a city blowing up.] "A vicious army of robots it bent on destroying the world!!" [then that picture of Protoman in front of the robot masters again appears, but the silhoutte of the robot masters fade, and Protoman is left alone, standing there, scarf in the wind.] "And behind the destruction is...." [here, a picture of Dr. Light outside of his lab is shown, and Protoman swoops down and kidnaps Dr. Light, and then Mega Man runs in, but it's too late. A picture of Mega Man is then shown as Protoman's yellow scarf floats down from the sky. He catches it, and then the scarf appears by itself in the lower righthand corner of the screen.] "Protoman! MEGA MAN V >Press Start [picture of Proto Password Man's helmet] (c) Capcom 1992 So there is your plot and storyline. Onto the next section. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION V - Controls =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= The controls are very basic for this game, as is the NES controller. Below is an ASCII replica of the controller for the NES, followed by in-depth directions for each button. _______________________________ | | | _ Nintendo | | _| |_ | ||_ o _| SELECT START | | |_| [ ] [ ] o o | | o o o o | |_______________________o_A__o_B| Directional Buttons - (located on the extreme left hand corner of the controller; shaped like a plus sign.) Used to direct Mega Man in four different directions. Used for walking and directing jumps, climbs, and in some instances, the way a weapon is shot. Select - (located to the right of the directional buttons, and to the left of the start button.) No use in Mega Man 5. Start - (located to the right of the Select button, and to the left of the A and B button.) Used to make the menu appear on the screen so you can pick a weapon and/or Rush item. A Button - (located to the right of the Start button, and to the left of the B button.) Primary use is to make Mega Man jump, although it can also be used to pick items/weapons on the menu. Also, press A, while holding down to make Mega Man slide. B Button - (located on the extreme right hand corner of the controller; to the right of the A button.) Primarily used to make Mega Man shoot his currently selected weapon, although it can also be used to pick items/weapons on the menu. Additionally, if you hold down the B button, Mega Man will charge a shot up and shoot it stronger and bigger. A small power shot is worth one damage (like a regular shot), a medium sized shot is worth two damage, and a super shot, big in size, is worth three damage. Use this addition often, it is VERY useful. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION VI - Characters =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Below is a list of characters and their bios. Name: Star Man Number: #037 Weapon: Star Crash Primary Weakness: Water Wave Height: 4'6" Strength: 55 Dexterity: 78 Intelligence: 72 Agility: 68 Stamina: 70 Difficulty: 46 Overall: 65 (average) Star Man is another user of one of the infamous shield weapons in the Mega Man series. This time it's called a Star Crash, and he uses it with extreme accuracy. He deploys his shield of stars around him and jumps around his lair with it circling around him, before he decides to freeze midair and shoot it at you, hurdling his shield in your direction. This is where you opportunity to damage him comes in. You have that two second window between him shooting the shield at you and him landing and redeploying a shield again to damage him with a powered up Mega Blaster shot. ............................ Name: Gravity Man Number: #033 Weapon: Gravity Hold Primary Weakness: Star Crush Height: 4'11" Strength: 81 Dexterity: 75 Intelligence: 72 Agility: 51 Stamina: 74 Difficulty: 52 Overall: 68 (average) With the unique and powerful ability to literally manipulate the force of gravity, Gravity Man has the control to switch gravity on his command, changing the plane on which he and his foe are standing on in an attempt to collide with the enemy while one is going up and one is going down, using his specially designed helmet to do serious damage to his foe. He also has use of an arm cannon to make things harder for you. You can either equip the Star Crush and have near-collides with him to damage him (making sure not to collide with him directly, or you'll both be damaged), or you can shoot him with charged up arm cannon shots when you are switching spots by timing your shots to hit him midair. ............................ Name: Gyro Man Number: #036 Weapon: Gyro Attack Primary Weakness: Gravity Hold Height: 4'7" Strength: 61 Dexterity: 85 Intelligence: 91 Agility: 71 Stamina: 56 Difficulty: 25 Overall: 65 (average) A flying robot master, Gyro Man uses his ability to fly and hide to his advantage. Using the clouds in his lair, he hides behind them and launches the Gryo blades from his back, called the Gyro Attack, at Mega Man, from hidden areas, before revealing himself. He can actually be quite difficult without the Gravity Hold. His difficulty rating is the lowest in the game, however, because of the fact that with the Gravity Hold, Gyro Man can be beaten in about ten seconds. Flat. ............................ Name: Crystal Man Number: #040 Weapon: Crystal Eye Primary Weakness: Gyro Attack Height: 4'6" Strength: 72 Dexterity: 84 Intelligence: 88 Agility: 47 Stamina: 77 Difficulty: 75 Overall: 74 (above average) A mystical Robot Master, Crystal Man is the master of the Crystal Eye, a powerful weapon that, when shot from the chest piece on his armor, spilts up into four pieces, bouncing around the lair, almost always connecting with their target. Also, Crystal Man has the power to shoot smaller, less potent, crystal shards at Mega Man or any foe he faces, connecting with incredible accuracy. Though slow moving and predictable, he can be more formidable than you'd like without the use of the Gyro Attack, the one blade powerful enough to effectivly penetrate his strong crystal armor. ............................ Name: Napalm Man Number: #039 Weapon: Napalm Bomb Primary Weakness: Crystal Eye Height: 4'9" Strength: 89 Dexterity: 81 Intelligence: 78 Agility: 66 Stamina: 71 Difficulty: 75 Overall: 77(above average) Napalm Man is a powerful, explosives-yielding Robot Master who can cause cataclysmic effects with his Napalm Bombs. Using both of his arm cannons as literal missile launchers, Napalm Man fires two canasters that are bombs, that go off shortly after bouncing along the ground at his target. Do your best to avoid these bombs while firing endless barrages of the Crystal Eye at him in attempts to destroy him before this powerful robot destroys you. ............................ Name: Stone Man Number: #030 Weapon: Power Stone Primary Weakness: Napalm Bomb Height: 5'2" Strength: 95 Dexterity: 89 Intelligence: 77 Agility: 54 Stamina: 86 Difficulty: 80 Overall: 80 (very good) Stone Man is easily the biggest robot master in the NES Mega Man series. He is big and powerful, but also slow. His weapon, the Power Stone (no relation to the fighting game), is a shield-like weapon, although it doesn't make him invulnerable to any attack; it instead starts near him and stems outward, huge boulders shooting out from him hitting everything in his way. He also jumps up and down trying to land on his target, but splits into a pile of bricks in the process. He rebuilds himself quickly, however. Use the Napalm Bomb (you can't just hit him with it, you have to time the bomb throws so they explode when he is vulnerable and in target), and blow this rock formation up like a mineshaft, baby! ............................ Name: Charge Man Number: #038 Weapon: Charge Kick Primary Weakness: Power Stone Height: 4'11" Strength: 88 Dexterity: 87 Intelligence: 91 Agility: 95 Stamina: 78 Difficulty: 75 Overall: 86 (very good) Charge Man is easily the most difficult Robot Master to defeat in the game, as this big locomotive enemy prooves to be a formidable opponent. Charge Man has two modes of attack - he "toots his own horn" so to speak, as he makes a "train noise" shooting shards of hot rock into the air, and they come down on Mega Man, very hard to avoid. Also, and even more effective, is his charge attack, where he quickly and rapidly shoots across the lair at Mega Man. His tall stature makes him nearly impossible to jump over, and almost always/always you WILL get hit my him. Use the Power Stone to quickly destory this robot master before he does a job on Mega Man, and trust me, he'll do a job on him quite quickly. Take heed of this robot master more than any other in the game. ............................ Name: Wave Man Number: #034 Weapon: Water Wave Primary Weakness: Charge Kick Height: 4'7" Strength: 75 Dexterity: 71 Intelligence: 79 Agility: 72 Stamina: 76 Difficulty: 58 Overall: 72 (above average) Wave Man should be the last Robot Master you should defeat, simply for convenience factors; he's really not a difficult robot master to defeat at all, actually. Wave Man, like many robot masters, has two modes of attack. His primary attack is called the Water Wave, and it's when he shoots a powerful and unavoidable wave shooting across his lair at his enemy, doing massive damage. Also, Wave Man can shoot spears from his arm cannon at Mega Man if it convenienves him, just like Bubble Man (Mega Man 2). Use the Charge Kick to greatly damage Wave Man and do away with him before he gives you too much trouble, although you'd be okay fighting him with the simple Mega Blaster arm cannon, too, although why would you want to when you can use the Charge Kick? ............................ =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION VIII - Beat Adaptor ("MEGAMANV" Pieces) =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= The Beat adaptor is a new addition to the Mega Man series starting with this game, Mega Man 5. Beat is a robotic bird built by Dr. Light, but you can only use his services (which are rather useful, especially on the final boss), when you collect the eight pieces in the game that spell out "MEGAMANV" on your weapon select screen. Each of the eight pieces can be found one each of the Robot Masters' stages. Some are out in the open and easy to get while others are a bit more difficult to get and require patience, and sometimes second and third trips through a stage to get them. But you MUST go through the trouble to get each and every piece, because Beat is a very important and useful weapon to use! Below here is a list of each piece, what stage they are found on, and how to get them as well. I hope you find this section useful. Also in the main walkthough (the next section, section IX), as you go along in the walkthrough and we come to a piece, it'll tell you how to get it as well, so this part is mainly only for quick reference, but it exists for your use, none-the-less. --- | M | --- Stage Found On: Gravity Man Location: It's on the border of an upward gravity and downward gravity barrier, about halfway through the stage. Strategy: To get this M on Gravity Man's stage, you simply have to time your jump so that as you go from the left (upward gravity) to the right (downward gravity), that the upward gravity gives you enough lift as you cross the barrier so that you can nab the airborne M before the downward gravity pulls you out of the air and grounds you. You also have to be careful to jump high and far enough to avoid the ditch right under the M piece. It's not as hard to get as it sounds, trust me. --- | E | --- Stage Found On: Wave Man Location: The second half of the jetski area. Strategy: To get this piece, keep an eye out on the second leg of the jetski part of the stage, right before you get to Wave Man's lair itself. It's out in the open, but because this section moves by itself, you have to keep an eye out for it and time your jump so you run into it as you pass by it. It's a relativly easy one to get, but missing it means you have to do the entire stage over just to get back to that one part. --- | G | --- Stage Found On: Stone Man Location: Hidden behind a false wall. Strategy: 20% through Stone Man's stage or so, there is a false wall, near where some beacon robots were. Shoot the bottom most area of the righthand wall and slide through where the arm cannon made room for you to go. Simply go right in this secret area, get the G, and then slide back out and go up the ladder above, into the next area. Simple? Not really. =) --- | A | --- Stage Found On: Gyro Man Location: Near the end of the stage, on those green platforms that fall from the air after you step/slide on them. Strategy: There are two possible strategies to get the A piece. The A is located UNDER one of the blocks that fall from the sky, meaning that legitimatly, you have to sacrifice your life to get it, and then just go past that part after you get that A piece, one life lessened. If that's the strategy you want to use, that's fine, and I recommend it for people who are new or aren't that great at the Mega Man series. If you, however, are a Mega Man pro and have quick reflexes, stand on the green block right over the A piece and let it fall. Nab the A piece and then QUICKLY jump to the green blocks to your right and start sliding right to the safe platform on your right, before the blocks start to fall. --- | M | --- Stage Found On: Star Man Location: Deep inside Star Man's space-base, high above lined by deadly spikes. Strategy: Star Man's MEGAMANV piece is the most visable piece in the game, and probably the easiest to get, if you have a very steady hand. Once you enter the physical indoor base of Star Man's stage, you'll notice a lot of spikes; spike- lined floors, spike-lined walls, and spike-lined ceilings. As you walk right to the spike-lined area, right in the beginning, is a very high ceiling ditch, lined with spikes. Inside this ceiling ditch is the letter M in a circle. Since you're in the absence of gravity, in the vacuum of space, you can jump up that high without the Rush Coil Adaptor, but you must make sure not to jump too high. If you jump too high, you'll hit into the spikes above and kill yourself instantly, but if you jump too low, you'll miss it completely. Also, mae sure to position yourself DIRECTLY under the piece, or you'll miss the very narrow passage to the piece, and hit spikes there as well. It's tough to get, but not as tough or obscure to find as others in the game are. --- | A | --- Stage Found On: Charge Man Location: About 70% through his stage, it's wideopen, inside a traincar. Strategy: To get this easy-to-find piece to the puzzle, you have to simply keep an eye out for it. When you enter the final traincar, inside of it, it's over one of the windows in the background. Simply use the Rush Coil to jump up to it and get it. It's that simple, my friend. That simple. --- | N | --- Stage Found On: Napalm Man Location: Half way through the stage or so, you can see it... but can you get it? Strategy: As you're wlking towards the right of the screen, you'll see the N on a platform below you, and the only way you can get it is by falling into the ditch all the way at the right of the screen and hug the left wall so you fall into the area. Then just pick up the piece, and fall down the ditch into the next area. --- | V | --- Stage Found On: Crystal Man Location: Towards the end of the stage, at the end of that huge freefall you have to take. Strategy: When you get towards the end of the stage, people familiar with the game will know that a hard-to-acquire Beat piece is coming up. As you make your freefall down several screens, the final screen you fall through holds the V piece for MEGAMANV. When you get to that screen (it's four screens into the freefall),jam left on your d-pad and you should collide with it while airborne, that way being able to retrieve it. If you miss it, you're only chance to get it is to go through the stage once more, so that kind of sucks, but you have to do what you have to do. =) =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION IX - *WALKTHROUGH* =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Here it is, the main part of the guide - the walkthrough. If you're not looking for spoiler-filled walkthroughs, but just want to know the order in which to beat the Robot Masters, as well as what to use, here is the order I recommend. (the order is far more linear than in past Mega Man games, so you'll definetly want to follow the order I give you.) Star Man ---> Use Mega Buster ---> Go on to Gravity Man Gravity Man ---> Use Star Crush ---> Go on to Gyro Man Gyro Man ---> Use Gravity Hold ---> Go on to Crystal Man Crystal Man ---> Use Gyro Attack ---> Go on to Napalm Man Napalm Man ---> Use Crystal Eye ---> Go on to Stone Man Stone Man ---> Use Napalm Bomb ---> Go on to Charge Man Charge Man ---> Use Power Stone ---> Go on to Wave Man Wave Man ---> Use Charge Kick ---> Go on to Protoman's Castle Now below is the in-depth walkthrough, the most IN-DEPTH and COMPLETE walkthrough for Mega Man 5 anywhere. I hope you enjoy it and find it useful. Before we start, here are some basic tips to help you through the game... Tip #1 - TAKE YOUR TIME! There is nothing worse than not taking your time, rushing, and getting yourself killed; quickly. Take your time, there is no time limit in the game. Where's the fire? =) Tip #2 - CHARGE IT UP! You should always hold down the B button to have a charged shot ready when using the Mega Buster to be ready for whatever is ahead of you. Remember, the fully charged Mega Buster shot is worth 3 damage, so it's worth it to do, trust me. If you're Mega Man-like coordinated like me, you can run, jump, et cetera, all while holding down the B button. It takes time, but you should be able to do it with no problem. Also, unlike in Mega Man 4 and 6, if you get hit when charging/charged up, you will lose the charge, so be careful to avoid hits while charging or being charged up, because it's a pain to have to recharge after being hit. Tip #3 - TAKE YOUR TIME TO TAKE DOWN PASSWORDS NES consoles are old, and act weird. Everyone knows this... so take down the passwords the game gives you once in a while, even if you're not going to shut the game off. You never do know what's going to happen. Tip #4 - E-TANKS AND M-TANKS... HOW ANNOYING! You're probably saying to yourself "what!?" Well... E-Tanks and M-Tanks can't be saved by the password system in this game, so you'll have to get your E-Tanks and M-Tanks all over again if you shut the game off and start all over again. The optimum stage to do this on is Stone Man's stage... and even Crystal Man's stage is good. Just be aware that the password system only remembers the letters you've collected (out of the "MEGAMANV" pieces) and the robot masters you've defeated - no E-Tanks and M-Tanks are remembers. All right... lets do this! HERE'S THE WALKTHROUGH!!! After choosing to Start Game, the stage select screen, famous for the Mega Man series, looks something like this... ------ ------ ------ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ------ ------ ------ STONE GRAVITY CRYSTAL MAN MAN MAN ------ ------ ------ | | | MM's | | | | | | Face | | | | | | | | | ------ ------ ------ CHARGE NAPALM MAN MAN ------ ------ ------ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ------ ------ ------ WAVE STAR GYRO MAN MAN MAN First, choose Star Man's stage, and we're underway! ***** * **** *** STAGE 1 - STAR MAN ***** * **** *** Star Man's stage is very interesting. The zero-gravity environment in which the entire stage is set in makes your jumping ability heightened by five times, meaning you can easily jump the entire width of a screen in one jump without any special adaptors or secret skills. Also, on your descent from your jumps, don't expect to come down fast, you'll float down slowly... not too slow, but not too fast either, making it even more realistic. Keep this in mind, to time your jumps and such as you procede through the stage. You'll find that later in the stage, they'll challenge you with spike-lined walls and ceilings, to see if you can control the height in which your character can jump - so simply take this as an early warning. This stage is fun, but it can be tough if you're not in the right mindset. As you begin the stage in the void of space, procede right. Test your fantastic jumping ability a few times to get the hang of it (it's like being underwater in the MMs where you can jump very high, only in this stage, you can jump even higher!). There are no real enemies in this first section as you go right. But you'll find massive amounts of meteors will fall on you as you go right, obstructing your ability to go right. Shoot them (jump or walk, depending on your skill you can shoot the meteors while airborne), and if you get hit a few times, that's okay, just go right, shooting up the meteors as you go. You may even find it easier to simply slide out of the way of the meteors, and if you get a good start on them, you can outrun them all the way to the right completely. Once you get all the way to the right, past the obstructions, jump down the ditch there and into the next area. Here, face left and kill the white enemy here with a few shots to it's body (if it starts jumping up and down and shooting plasma shots at you, kill it even quicker!), and go left and jump down to the bottom platform, this time heading right. Power up your arm cannon to full capacity and fire a shot that should take care of both green guns in front of you; both the one in front of you that started to come up at you and the one behind it that is still in a ground state should both be shot and killed in this way. Once they are dead, continue to your right. As you walk right in the small corridor, charge up your arm cannon again and as you come out of the corridor, shoot the jumping white and red enemy like the one you met before and shoot him with the charged shot, which will kill him. Do it to the one right to your right as well and jump over the platform he was on as you continue right. Here there are a total of four guns, and with skill you should be able to take them all out while still in the ground state using charged arm cannon shots before they detect you. Shoot them all up and climb over the large obtrusion as you go right. (as you jump over the tall obtrusion here, be careful of the spikes lining the ceiling. This is your first test of if you are able to control your jumping ability or not, and this is your easiest test of that skill on this stage, so bear that in mind. As you procede right, kill three more of those crazy jumping up and down red and white robots, avoiding whatever they fire at you in the process, and also kill the green gun that sits there awaiting you to get in range of it's shot. Make sure not to jump if you can in this area, to avoid any mishaps with the spike-line there made of four spike balls, just in case. Once you get all the way to the right, jump down the ditch. Here, face left and shoot the flying yellow robot there as he shoots stuff at you (butif you don't move, it shouldn't hit you). Then charge up your arm cannon, and drop in between the left wall and the spike-line there, shooting the other yellow robot as you go down into the next area. Here, simply go left and drop down into the pit there, then face right and slide through the obtrusion there that you can only get through via sliding. Once through this area, kill the space Metool here and another airborne yellow robot. Above you, riding the spike-lined ceiling in a little obtrusion above you, you'll see a circle encompassing the letter M, the first letter in your quest to spell out MEGAMANV and get the Beat adaptor. Carefully, and I mean carefully, use the gravity weightlessness to your advantage to get to the M piece, but position yourself in between the two spike lined walls and in the middle of the ceiling's ditch so you can easily get to it. Jump up, but press down when you get high enough so you don't jump into the spikes, and get the letter M. Seven more letters to get! Onward. From here, head right through this spike-lined ceiling area, killing the space Metools as you go. This part as you head right can get absolutly crazy, between all of the spikes around you, the crazy jumps you have to make as you procede, and the space Metools all going after you. Simply head right going through all of this, and once all the way to the right, power up your arm cannon, and shoot the two guns waiting for you there. Once they are destroyed jump up and climb the ladder on your right going up. Here, you'll have to act quick. Three missiles are flying at you from the left of the screen. Quickly shoot and destroy the lowest of the three missiles and slide in between the shrapnel it shoots out. When the other two missiles hit the wall on the right, they will explode shooting shrapnel in all directions. Quickly get to the left and jump up the ladder there, going up. From here, jump up and quickly kill the two guns waiting for you here. Then go back down and charge up your arm cannon and fire at the still-waiting green gun in front of you with a charged shot, then jump back up and right, jump over the spike pit, and continue to your right. Shoot the green gun here and go right and into the next area. Here is like a mini-boss type enemy. It's like an AT-ST from The Star Wars Trilogy, and it shoots shots that remind me a lot of Gemini Man's weapon from Mega Man 3, the Gemini Laser. It shoots it in three directions, and if you don't jump when it's shooting, you won't get hit. When he finishes shooting, have your arm cannon charged up and fire at the eye-like thing on the top of his structure to easily destroy it in a few shots. When he is destroyed, jump over the spike pit and go right and into the next area. Here, as the area begins, four space Metools will come flying at you. Shoot the lower two and jump over the spike pit and under the two other space Metools as you pick up the energy pellet. Then turn around and snipe the two you just left behind before proceding right. Shoot the space Metools up here as you go right and jump over the spike pits as you go. Then go right and into the next area, the homestretch. As you move right you'll see a moving platform. As you jump from moving platform to moving platform here, you'll notice that missiles come up from the pits and try to knock you from your jump. They are easy to jump over with the weightlessness on this stage, however. So don't fear them. As you jump though, have your arm cannon charged at all times. Jump from platform to platform, killing the small red crab-like robots that shoot plasmas shots from their lever tails, and avoid getting knocked into the spikes below. If you do get knocked into them by an enemy, remember you are invisible for a second or two after getting hit, so don't lose your head, use that opportunity to jump back up onto a platform before you become vulnerable to the instant-death spikes. Once you get all the way to the right, go right and into the next area. Here simply kill another AT-ST like enemy, and jump over the small spike pit, entering Star Man's lair. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *STAR MAN STRATEGY* | Star Man is a pretty easy boss to beat, and since the only weapon you have at this point in the game is your regular old arm cannon, that's all you can use, and it will suffice perfectly in defeating your foe. Star Man runs around the room with his shield of stars equipped constantly. He jumps slowly and highly, and always tries to land on you to harm you. As he's jumping around, he is not vulnerable to attack. This is why you should take this time to charge your arm cannon. When he decides after a few jumps that he wants to fire his shield at you, he will jump in the air and freeze there, and the shield will fire in your direction. At this point, you'll want to release your charged shot at him and damage him before he redeploys a shield on himself. Once this is done, repeat the process, sliding under him and avoiding him the best you can. Do this steadily and don't get hit and damaged too much, and he'll succumb without much problem after not too long-a time. The stage is simply a complex of gravity changes, where sometimes you'll walk on the ground, and when you walk into an area where the arrows face up, you'll be on the ceiling, along with your enemies. It's very interesting indeed. As you begin the stage, head right and you'll see some red arrows in the background pointing downward. This means that in the area you're in, you are in downward gravity - you can walk and jump normally. So head right, past the arrows, and kill the two eyeball robots as you go right. When you get to the ditch all the way at the right, kill the clear machine shooting plasma balls into the ditch, and jump down the ditch into the next area. Here, face left from where you landed and kill the red spiraling robot there. Walk left past the one arrow facing down and jump, and you'll notice that once you jump and cross the boundary to where the arrows face up, you'll now be on the ceiling, walking and doing your thing from the ceiling. Walk along the ceiling until you again cross a boundary into downward gravity, and you'll fall down to the bottom most area. Kill the eyeball robot here, and face right. Kill the spiral red robot and the eyeball robot to your right, before heading right and jumping over the spike pit. From here, cross the bounary into upward gravity, and the eyeball robot will follow you up. Kill it from the ceiling, and walk across the ceiling to your right. You'll see a ladder in the middle of the room and a ditch in the ceiling that you're supposed to fly up, to the next area. Before going up there, jump from the ceiling and latch onto the ladder. Climb down it (you'll be going down it upside down and backwards), and get to the bottom as best you can. Kill the red spiral robot here, and jump to your left and get the extra life to your left, and you'll fly back to the ceiling. Once you get that extra life, go right and fly up the ditch in the ceiling to the next area. As you get to the next area, you'll still be in upward gravity. Head left and walk across the lower platform. Jump up the top ceiling and walk right. You can avoid the silver bludgeon device swinging back and forth from the floor by simply not jumping, but walking right over it. Even when it's at it's apex and you're right over it, it won't hit you as long as you don't jump. Continue to your right and jump down as you go right, along the ceiling. When you get farther right, there will be another silver bludgeoning device on the ceiling, this time. You can get hit by the chain itself, but not the blunt object on the end. Simply walk through it and head right. Jump up the ditch on the ceiling all the way at your right and into the next area. Face left here and kill the red spiral robot here (keep in mind you're still on the ceiling). Head left and jump up to the main ceiling on the top of the screen. Face right and kill another red spiral robot as you head right. Once he's dead, charge up a super shot and jump down from the ceiling and release the shot to kill the eyeball robot in one hit. Once he's dead, head right. You'll see downward arrows below, representing downward gravity. Kill the red spiral robot all the way at the right of the corridor, and jump to where he was before you killed him. Jump down to there and you should get caught up in the downward gravity. Once you do, jump down the ditch, hugging the right wall as you go. As you hug the wall you'll fall down a screen, and then be in the next area. (I asked you to hug the right wall so you can avoid the spike lined floor to the left of the new area). Once you land, head right and kill the four green guns as you head right, going up as you go. You shouldn't need the weapon energy pellet all the way at the right of the screen, so ignore it and jump down the ditch right before it. In this new area, head left along the corridor and jump down. Get the weapon energy pellet all the way to the left of the screen (equip the Rush Coil if you need to get it from the main floor, otherwise you'll fall into the spike pit), and then kill the green gun on the main floor before heading right. As you head right, simply keep your arm cannon fully charged as you go and shoot up the green guns coming up from the floor as you go. Once you get into a more open area, you'll meet one of those huge red robots that fly into the air and smash down onto Mega Man. Simply slide under him and avoid him (he takes too many hits and is like impossible to defeat without getting damaged yourself) and slide right into the next area. Here, you'll see arrows across the screen signifying that upward gravity will take place once you cross that threshold. Charge the arm cannon to full capacity and fire at the clear plasma shot dropper across the screen, and also kill the eyeball robot with another charged shot before crossing into the upward gravity area. Once you're in this area, and on the ceiling, charge up the arm cannon and head/walk/jump to your right. Release the charged up arm cannon shot so it hits both the green gun and clear plasma shooter in one hit. Once they are both hit, head up and you'll see another M for MEGAMANV on top of the screen, right on the barrier between upward gravity and downward gravity. You have to jump so that you are heading up as you jump into downward gravity, so that you can nab the M piece before the gravity drags you back down. So do that carefully, without falling into the pit, and continue to go right. In this area, as you head right, there are a lot of changes from upward gravity to downward gravity. Keep that in mind as you're going so it doesn't sneak up on you. Keep your arm cannon charged at all times and shoot up the enemies as you go into the semi-hectic climax of the stage. It's hard to write about this part because it's so hectic. So just take it slow and kill all of the enemies so they don't give you a hard time after you get past them. Once you get all the way to the right, head up to stairs on the ceiling to the next area. Once you enter the next area, you'll fly straight up to the ceiling. Charge up your arm cannon and shoot the two green orb enemies coming at you before the reach you. Once you do that, jump over the spike pit on the ceiling, and go left and fly up the ditch into the next area, hugging the left side of the ditch as you go. Once you are in the next area, jam to the right of your d-pad so that you avoid the spike pit on the left side of the next, and final, area of this stage. Here, simply jump along the ceiling and enter Gravity Man's lair at your right. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *GRAVITY MAN STRATEGY* | Gravity Man has the powerful ability to conduct and control the ultimate force of gravity. In his lair, he'll switch it at his will in order to collide with his enemy, which is you, in this case. Once he runs along the ceiling or floor, (he'll always be on opposite planes as you, so if you're on the ground, he'll be on the ceiling, and then he'll switch in order to attempt to collide with you), he'll switch gravity when he's under or over you and try to collide with you. Use this battle tactic to your advantage. Equip the Star Crash and use it as a barrier around you. Don't shoot it at Gravity Man, but rather, when he is trying to collide with you, make him miss your body, but be close enough to him so he rams into the shield. Once he rams into it, the shield will disappear, and you simplyhave to repeat this process until Gravity Man is finished. Also, be careful of the random shots he shoots at you from his arm cannon. You may think you're winning the battle when in essence, the plasma shots from his arm cannon are doing damage to your character discretly. Once he's defeated, you get the interesting weapon in the game, the Gravity Hold. YOU GOT GRAVITY HOLD ~Password Thusfar~ Current Items/Weapons etc. ________________________ | 1 2 3 4 5 6| - Star Crash | | - Super Arrow |A | - Gravity Hold | | [MegaManv] |B R | | | |C B R| | | |D | | | |E B| | | |F B R | |________________________| ***** * **** *** STAGE 3 - GYRO MAN ***** * **** *** Gyro Man's stage reminds me a lot of Air Man's stage from Mega Man 2, and also Snake Man's stage from Mega Man 3. It's in that whole outdoors, high in the sky, blue background motif. Pretty neat. Anyway, onward... As you begin the stage, simply head right into the next area. From here, you'll be on a large orange elevator that will start to automatically go up. Once the elevator goes all the way up, it will stop. Go right and into the next area. Here, jump from the platform you're on to large green platform in front of you. Charge up your Mega Buster and when the red robot in front of you lifts the shield from his face to fire at you, fire at him and kill him, remembering to jump over the shot he shoots at you as well. Jump from the platform you're on to the identical one on the right. Here, shoot the flying purple orb robots as they come at you, and again kill the red shielded robot in front of you. Once all are dead, procede right again to the next green platform. Kill another one of these red shielded robots, and then, before jumping right to the next green platform, kill the red shielded robot on the next platform from the one you're on. Once he's dead, it's safe to jump to the platform he was on. So do that. Two purple orb robots will fly at you once you get on this platform, so kill both of them from a safe distance, then jump to the final green platform all the way to the right with the ladder extending from it. Kill the red shielded robot here as well, then go up the ladder and into the next area. In this area, there are no actual enemies you can defeat. Two of the platforms in the area, however, have roaming razor blades on them and they circle around in patterns. Time your jumps so that as you jump from platform to platform, you don't get hit by either of them. Ignore the platform in the upper right hand corner of the screen with the weapon energy pellet on it, you don't need it right now; at least... you shouldn't! =) From the platform you're on as you got into the area, jump left to the orange platform, avoiding the razor. Jump from that platform up and left to the green platform, again avoiding the blade as it draws near. From here, go left on that plaform and up the ladder, then go right on the topmost platform and up the ladder there into the next area. Here, jump from the ladder platform to the platform on your right. Kill the two floating robots as they draw near you, then continue right. Kill the large chicken robot here, dispersing the smaller chickens at you. You have to shoot it in the head multiple times to be able to defeat it. Once he's defeated, jump onto the platform he was formerly on, then face left and jump to the left platform there, and get the large energy pellet. Once you get that, jump back down and continue heading right. Slide into the small corridor as you go right to get the extra life there, and then slid back out left, jump around the platforms and keep heading right. Jump over the large ditch as you head right, and kill the two floating robots before jumping onto the red pod-like platforms. Once you step on the first one, it will shoot up. Once it does that, quickly jump right and onto the next one, which will do the same thing. From the second one, jump to the third and final one and it will go diagonal to the rightmost platform. Once here, climb up the ladder all the way to the right and into the next area. (make sure to jump from red pod to red pod very quickly, though, because after a second or two, the platform will fall out of the sky, and so will you!) From here, simply climb from the ladder to the green platform. Charge your Mega Buster and kill the three purple orb robots coming at you from three different angles. Once they are all defeated, jump to the platform to your left, avoiding the razor circling it, and from there, go up the ladder at the left of that platform into the next area. Once in this next area, go right with a charged Mega Buster. Once you get to an area with three possible corridors you can take (a top one, a middle one, and a bottom one), take the topmost corridor and shoot any enemies you come across as you go right and across this corridor. Once you get all the way to the right of the screen, you'll get to a ladder. Go up the ladder and into the next area. (you'll notice that by taking the top platform, you basically avoided nearly all of the enemies in the area.). In this next area, there is one of those huge red robots that we really don't want to mess with. When he jumps and hovers over you, slide out of the way and quickly head left and up the long ladder there before he jumps towards you and collides with you, which will do massive damage and can make a simple section of the stage quite frustrating. Once up the ladder and into the next area, go right. Three orange robots will fly up to near Mega Man and fall from the sky. Let them fall in front of you and procede right. Once you get to the right, you'll walk on green boxes that make up a platform. They are actually platforms that will fall from the sky once they are walked on. So slide quickly across them. When you see the letter A in a circle under one of the blocks as you go right, you have two choices. You can either sacrifice your life to get the A and then start back in the beginning of this area, which is not a bad deal at all, or you can, if you're skilled, let the block right over it fall and you can get it and jump to the next platform before it falls all the way, but that's tough. Either way, make sure you get it before going right anymore. So lets just say you died to get the A. Repeat that whole thing with the orange robots and make sure when you walk back on the green falling platforms, to avoid the orange robots falling from the sky. Slide and jump across these platforms as you go right. Once all the way right, go right and into the next area. This area is another elevator that moves by itself, but this time you have to avoid huge platforms with spikes on them as you are going up. There's not much to write as far as a walkthrough for this part. Simply strategize your moves by where you think the platforms are going to be, and you should be able to avoid them with little to no trouble after your second or third try, although I'm not ruling out the possibility that you get it on your first try! Once the elevator stops at the top, go right and into the next area. Here you'll have to carefully time your jumps as you head right from small platform to small platform as you go, all while killing the yellowish robots shooting plasma shots as you go. Once you get all the way to the right, drop down and kill the yellow robot here before droping down the ditch. Go left on the top platform and then right on the floor. Kill the gun here quickly and enter Gyro Man's lair. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *GYRO MAN STRATEGY* | Gyro Man is an extremly easy enemy with the right weapon - the Gravity Hold. Gyro Man's lair is covered with thick clouds which he uses to hide from his enemy while he chucks his Gyro blades at his enemies from the protection of stealth. He could be fairly difficult with just the arm cannon, but to make him a joke, equip the Gravity Hold and just press the B button, then wait two seconds, and press it again. Repeat this process and you'll see his energy meter simply drop in a drastic manner. All you have to worry about defensivly is jumping over his Gyro blades... but even then, even though he can damage your enemy fairly well, he can't compete with the Gravity Hold, the one weapon that keeps this airborne enemy grounded. There are some pretty crazy jumps to make in the stage, and there are these Crystal Generators that drop crystals randomly over the various ditches you have to jump, making this stage arduous and annoying, as well. So just be patient, for some people less experienced with the series, this could take you longer than the Mega Man fanboy, like m'self. =) As you begin the stage, walk right a bit and you'll encounter a red enemy with two parts to his body. He has a base which walks on the ground and a head that bounces up and down off of this base. You can kill either part of the body, but you want to aim, primarily, at his head. If you destroy the base and his head is still alive, the head will bounce off wildly, possibly doing damage to you. So kill the head off and the base will automatically explode. Do that for all of these guys you find on this stage. So once he's destroyed, head right, and you'll encounter three more of these guys as you head right. Kill all of them using the tactic I layed out for you just before, and once you get all the way to the right, past all of them, drop down the ditch at your right and into the next area. Now, once you fall into the ditch, immidiatly face left and fire at the two orange robots coming at you from the left, down the platforms towards you. They each take one hit, so they won't give you any problems. Once they are all defeated, go up and left and fall down the ditch all the way at the top left of the room into the next area. Here, go down to the middle platform (between the one you landed on when you fell into this area and the main floor) and power up your arm cannon and fire a charged up shot at the head of one of those two-piece robots to destroy it. Then drop down to the main floor and head right. Have your arm cannon charged and shoot another of these red robots here as you go right. You'll now arrive at the part I was previously talking about here. You'll see a series of ditches you have to jump over, from platform to platform, all while Crystal Generators above your head randomly drop crystals into the pits, attempting to knock you out of midair when you jump and into the ditch. You have to basically time your jumps, but hear me - there are no patterns to the way these guys drop crystals. Instead, they'll drop them in various numbers, but they will drop them fast, and then completely stop for a few seconds. Right when you notice they aren't dropping anymore, you have to jump to the next platform at your right RIGHT away. In this manner, make your way across the ditches as you go right. Be patient here, it might take you a few tries. Also be sure to not over jump and completely miss a platform. They are very thin, so just keep a proper footing as to not fall into the ditches. Once you get all the way across to the right, climb up the ladder here into the next area. You'll meet Eddie in this area and no enemies. Take whatever item Eddie has to give to you and procede to go up and left, and up the ladder at the left of the screen into the next area. Here, you'll have your first encounter with the Crystal Guards. The Crystal Guards charge up their arm cannons and form huge crystals, identical to the ones falling out of the Crystal Generators on the ceilings. They then fire them at Mega Man. They are only vulnerable to attack by your arm cannon when they are NOT flashing (which means that they are vulnerable for about two seconds every "cycle"), otherwise the crystal they are forming will block your shots from hitting him. So charge your arm cannon when he forms his crystal, and when he shoots it, let it fly over your head, then jump up and fire the charged up shot at him. One supershot will do the trick. Once he's defeated, go right and you'll see that you have to, once again, do the whole ditch jump thing with the Crystal Generators on the ceiling. This time, Crystal Guards are on various platforms as you go. Before you jump from the platform you're on onto the clear-green platform, kill the Crystal Guard on it using the tactic I previously outlined for you. Once he's defeated, wait for a gap in the dropping crystals from the Crystal Generator overhead, and make your first jump. Keep in mind that the floors below are lined with one-hit-kill spikes, so be weary of that. So continue to your right, doing what I just told you to do. Be patient, jump when there's an opening, and kill the Crystal Guard you come across after a few platforms from a distance, so he doesn't hit you when you jump. Once you get all the way to the right (the last jump you have to make is a pain, trust me), climb up the ladder at your right. In this area, face left and charge up your Mega Buster. Now, fire it when you're standing on the main ground and it will hit the large robot in the spike pit to your left. Once he is defeated, jump onto the green pod to your left, and let it take you up and left to the ladder. Once it stops, jump from the pod to the ladder before the pod falls, and then go up the ladder into the next area. Here, immidiatly face right and fire shots at the three orange robots coming down from the right here before they get to you. Once the three guys are defeated, jump up and right, and fire more shots at the orange guys as they come towards you. Once you get a little bit more right, you'll come across a red shield flying back and forth. He is invulnerable to your shots when you shoot into the shield, so jump over him and wait for his back to be exposed to you. Fire into his backburners to destroy him. Go right a bit more and come across another shield. Repeat the process and destroy that guy as well. Once both shields are defeated, go down and right and destroy the final shield in this area. Once he's defeated, drop down the pit at the right of the screen and into the next area. Here, face left and fire a shot at the topmost green guy of the two green guys coming at you to destroy it. Let the other one go. He'll drop a bomb (shaped like a skull) below you, out of harm's way, and then fly off of the screen. Once he's gone, drop down from the platform you're on and hug to the left, so you fall onto the platform right underneath where you were, with the E-Tank on it. Get the E- Tank, and then drop down into the next area. You'll fall into a barrage of three green robots like the ones you just encountered. Kill the ones you can and get out of there! Simply slide/jump/run to your left and drop down the ditch there. In this next area, head right and have your arm cannon charged. Kill the large robot you come across (like the one you came across previously in the spike pit) and kill him with a charged up shot. Then, equip the Rush Coil Adaptor and use it to get to the platform over your head, with the roaming rat on it. Charge up your arm cannon again and destroy the robotic rat, and then slide under the obtrusion in front of you and nab the M-Tank there. Slide back out and go right. Charge up the arm cannon once more to destroy yet another large robot in front of you. Once he's destroyed, go right and jump down the ditch there and into the next area. In this next area, you have to simply go left and jump down the ditch before you into a huge void. Jump right through the middle, and then jam a bit left on the d-pad into the next area, and into the next area you fall into, jam a bit right, and into the next area, jam left and nab the V piece of the MEGAMANV pieces, and you'll be half-way to Beat! Once you fall out of the huge ditch, (keeping in mind to avoid the various spiked platforms as you are falling, which is why I tell you to jam on your d-pad certain directions), go right. From here, go right and charge up the arm cannon. Shoot the beacon robots before they shrink and fly at you (which is why you have to fire from a distance), and then shoot all of them up as you go right. Once all the way right, jump down the ditch. Immidiatly face left here and fire two shots at the two beacons to your left. Jump over them if you're too late and they hover at you. Once they are both defeated/gone, go left and down the ditch. Here, simply go right and slide under the huge robot here that we never want to battle. Once you slide under him, enter Crystal Man's lair to your right. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *CRYSTAL MAN STRATEGY* | Crystal Man is an interesting robot to do battle with. Many people actually find Crystal Man easier to battle with a charged up arm cannon, although I find him far easier to fight with the Gyro Attack. Crystal Man has a fairly predictable attack pattern. He jumps around his room slowly, and freezes in midair to fire the Crystal Eye attack, which splits a crystal into four pieces, which bounce wildly around his lair. Simply equip the Gyro Attack and fire at him when he falls from his jumps, and repeat this process, all while avoiding bodily contact with him and the Crystal Eyes he fires as well. If you find it hard to hit him with the Gyro Attack, like I know some people do, then simply have your arm cannon charged and do the same thing, just fire at him when he is falling from his jumps. Either way, when he is defeated, you get his weapon, the Crystal Eye. YOU GOT CRYSTAL EYE ~Password Thusfar~ Current Items/Weapons etc. ________________________ | 1 2 3 4 5 6| - Star Crash | | - Super Arrow |A B | - Gravity Hold | | - Gyro Attack |B B | - Rush Jet Adaptor | | - Crystal Eye |C R| [MegAManV] | | |D R | | | |E R B| | | |F | |________________________| ***** * ****** *** STAGE 5 - NAPALM MAN ***** * ****** *** Napalm Man's stage is set out in the jungle. Traverse the beginnings of the stage to your right. Have you arm cannon charged, and when you run into your first Tiger, immidiatly start firing away at it. These Tigers, which you'll meet several of in this stage, do MASSIVE damage to Mega Man. On a full energy bar, Mega Man can only get hit five times by these guys, so do be weary of that. So go right, and fire at and kill the Tigers as you go. One super shot from your charged up arm cannon will take them out of commission, but make sure to fire at them from a safe distance, otherwise, if you happen to get too close to them, they will pounce at you and most likely land on you and damage you. So kill them as you go right. Jump over the spike pits as you go right, and kill the final Tigers on this beginning stretch of the stage. Once you get all the way to the right, jump down the ditch here and into the next area we go. Face left and charge up your arm cannon. Here you'll see, below, a sitting Tiger, waiting for you to come close enough to drop. To the Tiger's right is a large energy pellet. Have your arm cannon charged and then jump off of the platform you're on, facing the tiger. As you are falling, fire at the tiger and destroy it with a super shot as he pounces at you. Once he's defeated, go right and get the energy pellet there if you need it, then go left and drop into the ditch into the next area. Here, immidiatly charge your arm cannon and shoot the large green machines that the Metools are manning. Then, wait for the green cocoons on the ceilings to turn into Green Bats, and fire at both of them to kill them. Once all four of the enemies there are dead, head right. In this next area, is a small and dark corridor. Large purple circles will come at you with spikes on one side. Charge up your arm cannon as you run right and keep firing at them. Do NOT let them touch you. They have the same effect as the spike lined floors and ceilings - one touch and you're a goner! So keep that arm cannon charged as you are running right, and keep a steady amount of fire on those guys, destroying them as you go (watch 'em explode, baby!). Once you get all the way right, go right and into the next area. In this area (which is a enemy-less checkpoint, simply head right and go up the ladder at your right. Once all the way up the ladder, you'll see an E-Tank in an opening at your left, surrounded by mounds of walls. Jump through a secret passage through the wall at your left, and go left through it. When you can't go left anymore, jump up and go left, then fall back down and head left. Nab the E-Tank, then exit the secret passage. Go right. This next area here reminds me a lot of Toad Man's stage from Mega Man 4 with all of the platforms and waterfalls. Anyway, go right and fire at the beacon on the first platform. Once he is destroyed, jump onto that platform. From this platform, head right and jump onto the next platform at your right. Charge up your arm cannon and shoot the helicopter manned by the purple robot over head with a super shot before proceding. Once it's destroyed, jump down to the platform below you to your right. The beacon on it will hit you, but so be it. Fire right and hit the beacon to your right on that platform. Once he's destroyed, jump to that platform. From here, jump back to mainland and head right. As you go, kill the huge series of beacons on all sorts of the different platforms. When you get to a ladder you have to climb to a small platform with a beacon on it, fire right away at the beacon once your head comes over the platform before he hits you. Go all the way right, killing the beacons as you go, and go up the ladder at the right of the screen. In this next area, Eddie will meet up with you. Get whatever randomly selected item he decides to give you, and then go up and left and up the ladder at the top left of the screen. In this new area, go right and charge up your arm cannon. When you get to a large red robot that shoots green missiles at you, fire a super shot at his head followed by a few regular shots to destroy him. You have to hit him in his head, you can't damage him any place else. Keep in mind that you can also destroy any missiles he fires at you to make your life easier. Once he's destroyed, keep heading right. Jump from small platform to small platform across the various spike pits, and then destroy the other red robot when you get to it by shooting him in the head as well, and also sniping any missiles he fires at you before they hit you and damage you. Once you get all the way to the right, you'll see the N for MEGAMANV tucked into a compartment that you can only get to as you're falling into the ditch all the way to the right of the screen. To get it, simply fall into the ditch and hug the left wall, and you'll enter the small compartment. Pick up the N and go back right and drop into the ditch into the next area. Here, kill the large green machine to your left that a Metool is manning, and then drop down and kill the other one on that screen as well. Go right and pick up the extra life there, and then head back left and drop down the ditch into the next area at the left of the screen. Here, head right through a tight corridor. After a few steps, missiles will start coming at you. Shoot the first one that comes at you and don't move, to avoid the four pieces of shrapnel that come out of the missile. Keep heading right and large amounts of missiles will come flying at Mega Man. This part can be hard. Slide under missiles that you can slide under, and jump over ones you can jump over, to avoid destroying them and getting hit my shrapnel. Once you get far enough to your right, you'll have to jump over spike pits all while avoiding/destroying the missiles as they fly at you. Once you get to your right, a large red robot will be there. Avoid him and slide under him to your right as he jumps and hovers, and fall into the ditch at the right of the screen into the next area. In this area, simply walk left and fall down the ditch (all on the same screen), and jam to your left on your D-Pad to avoid the spike pit. Once you're at the bottom of the screen, jump down the ditch at your left. In this next area, face right and fire at the red robot shooting huge red balls at you from across the screen. Hit him four times to destroy him, all while jumping over the balls he fires at you and avoiding the explosion they make. Once he's is defeated, walk to the ditch at your right, but DON'T jump over it. Get close enough to the ditch to trigger the gray missile to fly out of the ditch. Once he starts coming down, jump over him and to the next platform. Repeat this process. Once you get farther right, destroy another red robot you come across, and keep heading right. You're now at the end of the stage, but not before you cross a few more of these ditches. Go to the edge of the first ditch, trigger the gray missile, and jump to the next platform. Repeat this process a few times as you go right (the last ditch doesn't have a gray missile, so just jump right over it), and enter Napalm Man's lair. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *NAPALM MAN STRATEGY* | Napalm Man has a pattern to his attack, and it especially easy, and even more so when you have the Crystal Eye equipped. Napalm Man has two modes of attack. Out of the cannon atop his head, he can shoot missiles at Mega Man, that are hard to avoid (you can jump over them however). After he shoots a few of those, he will shoot Napalm Bombs out of the arm cannons on both of his arms, that bounce and then make huge explosions. All while he's doing this, he will roam around his lair. Fire the Crystal Eye, not directly at him, but at the wall behind him or the wall behind you, to split it into three different pieces of Crystal Eye, which has a potential to damage Napalm Man three times with the same shot, hence conserving energy and killing him quicker. If you are low on energy, however, and don't want to change anything, you have the option to fire the Crystal Eye right at Napalm Man, but I don't recommend it, it's easier to miss intentionally and split the Crystal Eye in three pieces. Three times the fun! =) Anyway, after you defeat Napalm Man, you get the Napalm Bomb. YOU GOT NAPALM BOMB ~Password Thusfar~ Current Items/Weapons etc. ________________________ | 1 2 3 4 5 6| - Star Crash | | - Super Arrow |A | - Gravity Hold | | - Gyro Attack |B B | - Rush Jet Adaptor | | - Crystal Eye |C R R| - Napalm Bomb | | [MegAMaNV] |D | | | |E R B| | | |F B | |________________________| ***** * ***** *** STAGE 6 - STONE MAN ***** * ***** *** As you begin Stone Man's stage, you'll notice, if you played the original NES Mega Man, that it's a lot like Guts Man's stage in the original game. Pretty neat. =) Anyway, as the stage begins, head right and fire at the Metool you come across, and then it will split into three smaller Metools. Kill all three of those little buggers, and then jump up to the next platform and head right, again killing another Metool and the ones it splits into as well. Head right s'more, killing the Metools and little Metools as you go, and then when you get to the two pinkish cocoons on the ceiling, wait for them to open, revealing two Pink Bats. Kill both of them, and then head right and go up the ladder right before the ditch all the way to the right of the screen, and into the next area. From here, go left and kill the Pink Bat that comes out of the pink cocoon to your left, and then go left and up the ladder to the top platform. Kill the Pink Bat up here too, and head right. Kill the Metool and the little Metool it spawns when you kill it at your right, and then walk right and into the next area. Here, charge up the 'ol Mega Buster and jump down from the highpoint you're at to the main floor of the area. Immidiatly fire at the beacon there before it shrinks, and then fire at the beacon at the right of the screen. Climb up the small ladder at the bottom of the right hand side of the screen. From there, fire at the Metool on the platform to your left. Ignore the small Metools that come from his destroyed corpse, but go back down and to the rightmost wall. Shoot at the bottom of this wall to chip away at the rock there, and slide through the crevasse it opens up. Slide into this hidden area to get the G piece in MEGAMANV, and then slide back out left, and simply climb up the ladder above you into the next area. Here, head left and two Pink bats will come from their cocoons at the top of the screen and come at you. Kill both of them, and then go left and up. Kill the solitary Metool on the platform at the top left of the screen, and the lil' critters he leaves behind, and then go right across the top platform and into the next area. Here, go right a bit and two Green Bats will come from their cocoons at Mega Man. Fire at and kill both of them, and then head right a bit more. Fire from across the screen at the green robot firing large boulders across the screen from the hole atop his head. Keep heading right, killing the Green Bats as you go (bear in mind that they first much hatch from their cocoons before you can damage them!), and jump over the ditches as you get to them. While the first green boulder thrower you came across threw his boulders harmlessly into the ceiling, the second one you meet at the far right of the area throws them far more effectivly, so make sure that when you jump over the ditch in front of him that he doesn't fire one at you and knock you straight into the ditch below with a boulder. Destroy the green guy guarding the ladder and climb up the ladder at the far right of the area, and into the next area. Here, head left and destroy the clear little bouncer coming at you with one quick shot. Go all the way to the left and beware of the clear guy coming from the ceiling at Mega Man. Fire at him to destroy him as well. Then jump up and head right, but turn back around first and destroy the Metool and the little Metools on the platform at your left before proceeding. Once that is complete, head right and into the next area. Here, stay on the blue platform you're on and wait for the two Pink Bats to hatch from their cocoons above. Once they do, from the blue platform, fire at and kill both of them. Then charge up your arm cannon all the way and jump down to the next platform and shoot and kill the robotic rat roaming around on that platform. From here, head right, charging your arm cannon up again. Fire at the robotic rat to your right, then jump up and head right. Turn around and shoot the Bat from the cocoon above your head, and then drop down and go into the little compartment going left, to collect the energy pellet there. Once you do that, charge up your arm cannon again and fire/kill the robotic rat to your right. Head right from there, all the way to the end of the area. Here, wait for the bats to come out of the cocoons, kill them both, and then head up the ladder all the way to the end of the area, into the next area. Here, head left, and kill the clear guy that comes at you from the ceiling. Once he's destroyed, face to your right and jump up to the middle platform. Go right across this platform, then jump up to the top platform when you get all the way to the right and go left across this topmost platform, and up the ladder all the way to the left. In this area, head right and kill the two robots that are floating towards you, airborne. Once they are both destroyed, head right s'more. This long area is simply a series of platforms, litered with many enemies trying to knock you into these pits, and just to damage you, period. So head right, jumping over the ditches as you go. When you come across the shielded red robots, wait for them to lift their shields to fire their gun, and when they do this, fire at them to destroy them. Otherwise, you can't damage them. Also kill the floating airborne enemies before they get too close to you, so they don't become a nuisance. Once you get all the way to the right, past the many enemies and countless pits to jump across, go up the ladder here and into the next area. In this next area, you'll see an extra life surrounded by walls, and to be honest with you, I've yet to figure out how to get this guy... embarassing but true! =) So just go right and into the next area, unless you can figure out (or know) how to get that extra life. In that case, get it. UPDATE (June 19, 2002) - After all the e-mails I got, you simply have to use the Rush Jet to get to the top left of the stone wall to your left, and walk into it, it's got an invisible platform. Then, just walk through the invisible path leftward and downward, to the extra life. PLEASE NO MORE E-MAILS ABOUT THIS! We now have the answer, and I thank you all for it. BUT NO MORE E-MAILS, or I think my head'll explode. On this subject, anyway... In this next area, kill the three floating airborne enemies as they come at you. Once all three are defeated, jump on the green pod in front of you and let it take you diagonally up and to the right, and jump off of it, where, on this new platform, you'll face two more of these floating robots. Kill both of them, and head right. Kill another airborne robot or two as you go, and then jump onto the green pod at your right and take it across to the next platform. Here, high above, you'll see an E-Tank tucked into a small compartment. To get to it, do the following. Ride the first green pod across to your right, and jump onto the platform above you, and take it left, and then jump onto the pod above that one, and take it back right, so you're on a platform with a ladder across it, directly across, facing left, to the E-Tank. Equip the Super Arrow you got from defeating Star Man along with his Star Crash, and ride the arrow across to where the E-Tank is. Then, equip the Super Arrow again and ride it back over to the platform with the ladder on it. Take the ladder up. Here in this next area, you'll meet up with Eddie. Take whatever item Eddie gives you, and then head up and left and to the ladder there. Take it up to the next area. From here, go right and take the top most platforms across and right (the blue ones). Fire at and kill any floating enemies that come at you, and kill the Metools and clean up the little ones it leaves behind as well. Once that is done, and you get all the way right, jumping from platform to platform, enter Stone Man's lair and get ready to battle. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *STONE MAN STRATEGY* | Stone Man is probably one of the first Robot Masters in the eight classic Mega Man games that tower over Mega Man heightwise (you'll notice by Mega Man 8 that they are all far bigger than he is). Stone Man's battle tactic is basically to fall on top of Mega Man. When he jumps up and down and falls hard to the ground, he breaks up into many pieces and shakes the ground, making Mega Man lose his footing. Once he does that, he often fires the Power Stone, a ring of rocks that circle outwards from his body, doing massive damage to Mega Man. The surefire way to defeat Stone Man is to equip the Napalm Bomb and fire them so that they HIT Stone Man (they don't have to explode to do damage to him, so make sure that they hit him when you fire), meaning you don't have to fire them and wait for them to explode. Keep pounding him with these bombs, and he will be dust in no time. You'll get the Power Stone for your victory. YOU GOT POWER STONE ~Password Thusfar~ Current Items/Weapons etc. ________________________ | 1 2 3 4 5 6| - Star Crash | | - Super Arrow |A | - Gravity Hold | | - Gyro Attack |B B | - Rush Jet Adaptor | | - Crystal Eye |C R R| - Napalm Bomb | | - Power Stone |D | [MeGAMaNV] | | |E R B| | | |F B | |________________________| ***** * ****** *** STAGE 7 - CHARGE MAN ***** * ****** *** Charge Man's stage is up next, so here we go! In the beginning of the stage, it's very easy going. Head right. You'll see flying red robots coming at you pretty quickly, and they drop bombs if they get close or are over Mega Man. Simply jump and fire at them as you go right, it's very simple here. If you know you're gonna miss hitting and killing the robot before it gets to you, start sliding so you avoid the bombs it attempts to drop on you. Once you get all the way to the right, simply climb up the ladder you come across there and up into the next area. Once atop the ladder, head right into the next area. From here, you'll be atop a moving train, which reminds me a lot of Slash Beast's stage in Mega Man X4. Anyway... =) As you go right, destroy the Metool Train (you don't have to hit him in his head, just like all other Metool enemies, but you do have to wait for him to peak his head up from his shell, then he is vulnerable everywhere on his body), and continue to your right. Shoot up and kill another Metool Train and some of those hovering airborne enemies as you head right, collecting the items they drop as you go. Keep heading right, towards the end of this section. Here, an onslaught of the Metool Trains come to be, simply wait for them to peak their heads up, and then shoot them up, preferably with a charged up arm cannon for an easy kill. Once you get all the way to the right, jump down the ditch there and into the next area. Now, you'll be inside the train you were just on top of. As you go right, you'll come across anopther of these chicken-duck things. Hit him/her in the head many times to destroy it, and kill any of this little guys he/she manages to get to you. (they are chock full of items, too, so make sure to get all of them if you can!) Once it's destroyed, go right s'more and use a super shot from your arm cannon to kill the robotic rat that is roaming the platform there. Then, go right and down. Kill the robotic rat here, and charge up your arm cannon. Go down to the main floor and make sure your arm cannon is charged. When the robotic rat comes at you, shoot and kill him and continue right through the narrow corridor into a more wideopen space in the train, like the one you were in before. Here is another robotic duck thing. Shoot it in the head and kill the hatchlings it lets out at you... and get any items they drop, too. From here, go right again, and kill the robotic rats you come across. Make sure to get all of them with super shots, it's the easiest and most effective way to snipe them off one my one. Once you see another narrow corridor into the next traincar, power up the 'ol Mega Buster again and drop down to the main floor. Shoot another robotic rat that comes at you, then emerge from the other side, to kill the robotic duck and its hatchlings as they come at you. Keep going right, and kill more robotic rats, and a few bats (make sure to let them come out of their cocoons from a safe distance, and beware of the plasma shots they ocassionally shoot at you - if you kill them quickly, they'll never even get a chance to fire at you.) If you keep a close eye out, as you keep going right, you'll see the letter A for MEGAMANV up above, in one of the windows. This guy is easy to get. First, charge up the Mega Buster and shoot the robotic rat wandering around under where the letter is. Then, equip the Rush Coil and use it to jump up to the height of the A piece, and retrieve it. One more piece to go and you'll have Beat! Anyway, from here, go right a bit more and you'll be at the end of the train car. Kill the rat on the platform with the ladder on it with a super shot, and let the bat come from its cocoon above, and kill it quickly. Then go up the ladder at the right and into the next area. From this area, a spike bed of huge proportions is to your right. Simply ignore it and go right and into the next area. As you head right atop another train in this area, you'll come across four Metool Trains. Wait for each to peak its head from its shell, then fire away at it with a super shot for an easy and quick kill. Repeat this on all four of them as you head right, and be careful of the three plasma shots they shoot in three directions, those are kind of hard to avoid. When you get farther right, you'll start running into those red enemies that shoot the huge red balls from the tops of their heads. Beware of those projectiles as you move in on them to kill them. Once both of these guys are dead, drop down to a lower part of the train and continue right. As you go right again, you'll run into three more Metool Trains, which you should kill like you killed all of the rest we've encountered on our journey thusfar through this stage. Once past those trains, you'll come across yet more red projectile throwing robots, which you should destroy ASAP. Once they are destroyed, head right a bit more. Kill the two red projectile throwing robots here and jump down the ditch all the way right into the next area. Here, kill the large red robot by shooting it in the head, all while destroying the missiles he shoots at you, which are heat- sinking. Once he is destroyed go right and into Charge Man's lair. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *CHARGE MAN STRATEGY* | Charge Man is a robot that is... well... a train. And he does just that... he charges at you with great speed. As he charges across the room at you, it's nearly impossible to clear him with a regular jump, you'll almost always collide with him because he is pretty tall, and that combined with he stops and starts randomly, makes him hard to successfully cler with a jump. Also, alternativly, he "toots his horn" and fires coal rocks into the air which come flying down in all crazy directions, making Charge Man the well-rounded Robot Master. To defeat him, you have two methods available to you. The weapon of weakness to Charge Man is the Power Stone, but it is a hard weapon to use, period, so hitting a constantly moving enemy like Charge Man with it is hard. If you want to use the Power Stone, simply jump over Charge Man when he is vulnerable to attack and press B, and one of the stones circling around you is bound to hit him. Repeat that. Or, you can use charged up Mega Buster shots which are also very effective. Either way, keep in mind that an E-Tank might be good to have while battling Charge Man. Also keep in mind that he is invulnerable to any attack when he is shooting coal into the air. When he is defeated, you get the unique weapon in the game - the Charge Kick. YOU GOT CHARGE KICK ~Password Thusfar~ Current Items/Weapons etc. ________________________ | 1 2 3 4 5 6| - Star Crash | R| - Super Arrow |A | - Gravity Hold | | - Gyro Attack |B B | - Rush Jet Adaptor | | - Crystal Eye |C R | - Napalm Bomb | | - Power Stone |D R B| - Charge Kick | | [MeGAMANV] |E | | | |F B | |________________________| ***** * **** *** STAGE 8 - WAVE MAN ***** * **** *** Wave Man's stage is the final stage we have to go through as far as the Robot Masters are concerned. So lets get this final leg of the show on the road! As you begin Wave Man's stage, go right and climb up to wher the bludgeoning weapon is on the ceiling. Slide under it or walk past it when it's against the ceiling, and beware of the hole that emits purple toxic gas right past (it's hard to see, but it's there if you look hard enough!). Keep going right and avoid yet another bludgeoning device, as well as another purple toxic gas hole. Keep going right, and avoid another of the bludgeoning devices. Then jump up and you'll notice that, all the way to the right of this area, there are two different paths you can take, two tubes. There's a top one and a bottom one. Opt to take the top one. (but first, get the large energy pellet on top of the tube). Slide down this tube and into the next area. From here, get the extra life to your left and jump down the ditch into the next area. (as you go left, be careful of the toxic gas hole right before the extra life... I miss 'em everything I play this game, you probably do to!) From here, avoid the razor that is along the ground here (jump over it or just plain avoid it), and head right. Right after you avoid it, be careful of the two toxic gas holes on the first platform. Wait for them to recede, then slide over them. Avoid more razors as you go along, and more toxic gas holes as well. Keep going right, keeping a careful eye out for the toxic gas holes, and avoid the platform razors the best you can. When you get all the way right, just walk right into the next area. This area is quite interesting, because you have to ride a series of bubbles to get to the top of the area. The bubbles are emitted by a set of 5 bubble makers on the bottom platform of the area. The first two on the left are moot, because they run right into a spike-lined ceiling a second or two after being sent out. So you'll have to work with the three bubble makers on the right hand side of the screen. There isn't much a walkthrough could tell you for this part, except that the bubble makers make two kinds of bubbles. Big, slow moving bubbles that are, in essence, indestructable except by that of spike-lined ceilings, and small bubbles that you can use as quick stepping stones before the burst. This is what you want to do. Ride a big bubble that the second bubble maker from the right makes. Ride it up into the next area, a void area. Equip the Rush Jet Adaptor and use it to ride to a big bubble that should be all the way to the left of the screen. Unequip the Rush Jet Adaptor. Ride this bubble all the way at the left up into the next and final screen. Before the bubble rides you right into a spike-lined ceiling, quickly jump to a small bubble, right next to you, to your right, and from there, jump to the safety of the topmost platform. From here, go right and into the next area. This next area has a huge void of enemies. Just go right and you'll eventually come to a jet-ski type thing that Mega Man will have to ride right through the next area. Simply ride the Jet Ski (it goes automatically) through this area. There are three types of enemies as you go. There are these cone-like enemies that you should jump over (although they can be destroyed) there are Sniper Joes on jet skis that you can kill with a few hits, and there are large orange jumping fish that you should avoid if you can, just jump over them right after they land from a jump. Go right and kill the barrage of enemies, or avoid them if you want/can. When you get to the halfway point of this jetski section, reminicent of Jet Stingray's stage in Mega Man X4, you fight a mini-boss. It's a large aquatic robot, and is vulnerable on the green spot on his head. He goes up and down and shoots stuff in your direction everytime he surfaces. When he surfaces, shoot at him a few times in his vulnerable area before he shoots something, and after he shoots, shoot him a few more times before he goes back under. Repeat this process a few times and he'll be toast. Ride your jetski into the next area. (keep in mind that throughout your excursion on the Jetski, you can't press the start button to use E-Tanks or weapons, so try and conserve your energy as best you can. It's rare that the enemies you kill drop any energy pellets, so be careful as you go.) In the second and final leg of the jetski area to Wave Man's stage, it's basically the same thing, just a bit more conjested with enemies. This time around, be weary that the E for MEGAMANV is on this part of the stage. You have to jump up and get it using the Jetski. Make sure not to miss it, you don't want to have to do the whole stage over again. Once you do get the E piece and you didn't miss any on the other seven stages, the next time you're on dry land, press the start button and you'll see that you now have the Beat Adaptor, EXTREMLY useful on Wily at the end of the game. So go all the way right and you'll be back on dry land. Go right and into the next area. Power up your arm cannon and shoot the red gun right in front of Wave Man's lair. Once the gun is destroyed, simply go into Wave Man's lair, and equip the Charge Kick. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *WAVE MAN STRATEGY* | Wave Man is the final Robot Master we have to fight before we get to Protoman's castle. First, equip the Charge Kick. Incase you are pressing the B button and wondering why nothing is happening, the way you use the Charge Kick is to have it equipped, and instead of pressing the B button, you slide into your enemies to damage them. Pretty neat, right? Anyway, to defeat Wave Man, simply slide into him when he stands on the ground with the Charge Kick equipped. Wave Man shoots water into the ground with the arm cannon on his arm, which comes up in a hole on the other side of the room. Also, like Bubble Man in Mega Man 2, he can also shoot Torpedos out of the other arm cannon of his, so be weary of both as you fight him. You might get damaged a lot using the Charge Kick, but it's the best way to fight Wave Man. If you need to use an E-Tank, don't hesistate to use one, just make sure to keep an eye on your own energy. Once he's defeated, you get the Water Wave, the final Robot Master weapon. YOU GOT WATER WAVE ~Password Thusfar~ Current Items/Weapons etc. ________________________ | 1 2 3 4 5 6| - Star Crash | | - Super Arrow |A | - Gravity Hold | | - Gyro Attack |B B | - Rush Jet Adaptor | | - Crystal Eye |C R | - Napalm Bomb | | - Power Stone |D R B| - Charge Kick | | - Water Wave |E | - Beat Adaptor | | PLEASE NOTE This is the best password you can get in |F B R| the game, you cannot get any farther than this with |________________________| the password system in the game! At this point, you'll be taken back to the stage select screen, where Mega Man's face in the center will turn into Protoman's face. Before you select Protoman's face, make sure you have the 1 M-Tank from Crystal Man's stage, as well as 5 E- Tanks or so. You can visit any one of the various stages to get the E-Tank, but the M-Tank is only on Crystal Man's stage. Once you think you're ready (a stock of extra lives couldn't hurt either), select Protoman's face on the stage select screen and you'll be shown a picture of his castle. The castle is now underway! ***** * ***** *** ***** * STAGE 9 - PROTO MAN STAGE 1 ***** * ***** *** ***** * As you begin the first stage in Protoman's castle, go right. This whole stretch of the stage is litered with airborne plasma shooters and silver versions of the orange tigers we found so annoying back in Napalm Man's stage. Simply go right, having your arm cannon charged at all times. Fire away at all of the airborne enemies first, then, from a safe range, shoot super shots at the tigers to destroy them. This part of the stage can get extremly hairy, so destroy EVERYTHING you see, and never step back, because you can reset enemies, which means that they will reappear if you move off screen. Once you get all the way to the right, thank yourself for getting through that most hectic area, and climb up the ladder all the way at the right of the screen into the next area. Here, equip the Crystal Eye. Atop the screen on the ceiling you'll see three of those clear robots. They get triggered when you go underneath them, and will fall on you. Trigger the one at the rightmost of the screen first. Then, turn to the right and fire a Crystal Eye at the wall and allow one of those Crystal Eye shrapnel pieces to strike the second clear robot so that he doesn't fall on you. From here, go left and jump onto the platform in the middle of the room, timing your jump around the movement of the razor circling the platform. Then fake jump to the leftmost platform to trigger the clear robot on the ceiling at the left, and then really jump over to the left of the screen on the left platform, to safety. Unequip the Crystal Eye and equip the Super Arrow. Face left, jump a bit, and fire the arrow into the leftmost wall. Jump onto it quickly and use that as a stepping stone to the ladder at the top left of the screen. Climb it into the next area. Here, face right. You'll see two beacons, one on a top platform over head that you can't get to yet, and another on a platform right in front of you. Don't move towards it, but rather jump and fire at it to destroy it. Then go to the platform it was on, and move to the very left side of it, so the beacon at the top of the screen to your left is in view. Fire at that beacon to destroy it. Then, equip the Rush Coil Adaptor and go back left to the beginning of the area. Use the Rush Coil to jump up to the platform that beacon was on, and get the large weapon energy and energy capsules up there by sliding under the obtrusion to get them. Once you get them, continue right. Going right, snipe the beacon on the bottom of the screen from a safe distance and keep going right. Avoid and/orkill the red robots from Charge Man's stage dropping bombs on your character. Slide under the bombs or shoot the bombs best you can to minimize the amount of damage you take. When you get far enough right, you'll come to a large bed or spikes. Equip the Rush Jet Adaptor to get up and over them and over the large platform as well into the second leg of this area. Once in this part, you go right a bit more, and you'll come to a set of green blocks, seperating the section into two paths. Take the top path and kill the flying red robots and the two beacons up there as you go right. Once all the way right, kill the enemies as you go. All the way to your right, drop down the ditch, hugging the left wall. Get the energy pellet in this little crevasse as you drop down the ditch, and then really drop down it into the next area. Here, immidiatly turn around and kill the beacon flying at you from the top right corner of the screen. Then turn to your left and engage the green gun in battle. Fire at it continuously and destroy it. Then walk left and drop down the ditch at the left into the next area. Now, go right through this enemyless area. The only enemy you'll encounter in your journey right is the AT-ST like enemy we found way back in Star Man's stage. Kill it by shooting it in the eye-piece, and then go right s'more. Once you get all the way right, go up the ladder you find there and into the next area. Here, you'll have to traverse the infamous Mega Man cliche... the appearing-disappearing blocks. In the next two areas, in fact, you'll have to do this. There's not much of a walkthrough I can write for the next two areas. Just be patient and watch in what order the blocks appear and disappear, and also carefully jump, don't rush, or you'll fall into the spikes below! Once you get through the two areas consisting of the appearing disappearing blocks, you'll be in the final area of the level. Go right and slide directly under the platform. You'll run into a beacon, but that's okay. From here, two enemies will start revolving around you, but won't attack. To defeat them, simply standstill and fire continuous shots in one direction. They will run into them and eventually destroy themselves. Once that is done, go right and into the first boss lair in Protoman's castle. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *TANK BOSS STRATEGY* | The Tank Boss is a relativly easy battle. For some reason, it reminds me a lot of the battle with Toad Man in Mega Man 4, in that he simply goes back and forth if you keep on hitting him. You have two options while fighting him. The best weapon to use against him is the Water Wave, but the Charge Kick is also extremly effective against him, not in damaging him, but in keeping him from getting into his "routine" and pattern. He simply rovers himself around his lair firing plasma shots at you. The more damage he takes, the faster he gets. From a distance, start shooting the Water Wave at him. When he gets closer, equip the Charge Kick to get out of the corner (while damaging him) then run to the opposite side of the room. Re-quip the Water Wave and pound away on him again. Repeat this process until you defeat this boss, and go on to Protoman Stage 2! ***** ** ***** *** ***** * STAGE 10 - PROTO MAN STAGE 2 ***** ** ***** *** ***** * In this second stage of Protoman's castle, start out by heading to either one of the lower ladders and climbing up them, while avoiding the two razors roaming around the various platforms that make up the first area of this stage. Once up the ladder, take the left ladder at the top and into the next area. Here, turn towards the green shielded robot to your left and when he lifts his shield, quickly fire at him and kill him. The green robot across the way that you can't get to (but you can kill if you choose) will most likely do damage to you here, but you have no other choice. Once the green robot in your way is defeated go left and up the ladder you find there. In this area, two blue pod robots will come at you. Each of them take three shots to kill, so kill each of them before proceeding. Once they are dead, equip the Super Arrow and attatch it to the wall at your right. Use the arrow to jump over the platform and wall so you can procede to your right. Once over the wall/platform, battle the blue pods and the Metool Trains as you head right through enemy territory. You want to fire, like we did at Charge Man's stage, at the Metool Trains when the peak their heads out of their shells. Otherwise, you're not going to do any damage, your shots will simply deflect off of them. Also, charging up your Mega Buster and keeping it charged throughout this section couldn't hurt either. Once you get past all of the enemies and get all the way to the right, jump down the ditch at your right and into the next area. This are here has two platforms and a ladder in the lower lefthand corner of the screen. On the platforms are razors, circling them endlessly. Time your jumps so that you land on the platforms, as you go left, when the razors are out of the way. Jump from platform to platform, bear in mind that these platforms rotate, so you can fall off of one without even knowing it, and finally, onto the ladder in the lower lefthand corner of the screen. Climb down the ladder into the next area. (do NOT jump down into the next area, or you'll be greeted by spikes and you'll die instantly, how's that for a welcome!) =) From here, climb down the ladder and onto the platforms below. Your objective here is to go platform to platform without perishing by falling off of these moving platforms (that are very much like the platforms all over Metal Man's stage in Mega Man 2). As you head right through this area, platform to platform, you are contronted by the airborne bombdropping robots. Shoot them as you go, just keep firing barrages of shots as you go from platform to platform. When you get all the way to the right, go up the ladder at your right and into the next area. This area has three Crystal Guards, all of which are in tight corridors. To beat them, charge up your Mega Buster while still hanging on to the ladder. Let the Crystal Guard form and fire his Crystal. Go up to the top of the ladder so you're hanging off of it and fire under the Crystal as it flies at you, but high enough to nip and kill the Crystal Guard. Once he's dead, go left and to the ladder at the left. Repeat this process on the Crystal Guard at your right. Once that Crystal Guard is dead, go right and to the ladder at your right, and again do this to the topmost Crystal Guard on the top platform to your left. Once he's defeated, go left and up the ladder there to the next area. Climb up the ladder and in this next area, immidiatly face right and kill the airborne enemy that shoots two plasma shots every few seconds. From there, jump up to the platform at your left and fire and kill the ball dropping enemy. Ignore the weapon energy capsule high above on a platform out of reach, and continue to your right. Fire and kill another ball dropping robot as you go right, and then another airborne enemy as well. Go right and jump over the ditch to the next platform, and kill another airborne enemy right away there. Go right and you'll see you have a few choices on where to go. Slide through the bottom most path and grab the E-Tank there, then immiditaly slide back to avoid getting hit and killed by the spikes right after the E-Tank. Then, take the path right above it and get the energy pellet there to revitalize yourself, and slide back right away again to avoid the spikes. This time, take the topmost path to your right, kill the airborne enemies you see there, and then carefully jump down the ditch there all the way to the right, avoiding the spikes as you jump. Once you jump down, land on the right platform. Equip the Super Arrow and jump on it to get across to the extra life in the small crevasse across the screen. Then jump down to the next area. Here, go right and then jump up and continue going right. Kep walking and you'll get to pillar looking obstacles. In between each two are one large green enemy that bounces up and down (exactly like the ones in Gravity Man's stage, if you can recall), and shoots plasma shots randomly. Charge up your arm cannon and shoot each one as they jump up and down as you go. Once all the way to the right, jump over the ditch and onto the long ladder. Climb it up into the next area. From here, face left and charge up your arm cannon. When the Metool peaks his head out of his shell, shoot the large gun he's manning and then once or twice more with a regular arm cannon shot to destroy him. Go left and then jump up, repeating this process on the one at your right on the second platform. Get the energy pellet he was guarding, then go back left and up the ladder at the top left of the screen. In this final area. Charge up your arm cannon and keep charging it as you go right. Fire at and kill the red pods as they float towards you, and quickly kill the silver Tigers from a distance before they pounce on you and damage you. Keep heading right, killing the red pods and tigers as you go, being careful not to get knocked into a pit by an enemy, and make sure that the Tigers don't damage you, they do great damage. Once all the way to the right of the screen, enter the boss lair for the second battle in Protoman's castle. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *SHIELD TANK STRATEGY* | Very similar to the Tank Boss of the previous stage, the Shield Tank of this stage is even more simple to defeat then the previous boss. He has no actual attacks, nor does he jump or run. He simply roams around the lair with shields up, trying to bump into you. Equip the Crystal Eye and fire at him before he gets to you. When he's about to run into you, jump over him, turn around, and fire at him some more with the Crystal Eye. Although like the previous boss, he does get quicker moving as he takes more damage, he is still the easiest boss you're going to encounter in the final stages of the game, so enjoy it. =) Onward to the third stage in Protoman's castle. ***** ** ***** *** ***** * STAGE 11 - PROTO MAN STAGE 3 ***** ** ***** *** ***** * This is the final "stage" so to speak in Protoman's castle (although there is one more "section" after it), and it's also the longest stage in Protoman's castle. So lets do this! In the beginning parts of this stage, you have to head right. There are two primary enemies in this first leg of the stage - Sniper Joes in helicopters, and the infamous beacon enemies. As you begin the stage, immidiatly charge your arm cannon and shoot the helicopter above your head to start things off. As you head right, keep charging and always have charged your arm cannon as you are going. Fire at everything, don't let any enemy go. Be careful that you identify where the beacons are before you get too close to them, so they don't damage you. Keep going right, jumping from platform to platform over ditches, and be weary that the shots fired from the helicopters can knock you midair into the various pits and ditches as you go, so be careful. When you get past all of the enemies and are all the way to the right, climb up the ladder at your right and right into the next area we go. In this next area, along the ceilings, are two of those pod invisible enemies that are really annoying. Trigger the one over the ladder and destroy it, first. Then climb up the ladder and fire at and destroy the one hanging over the energy pellet at the right. Once he's destroyed, drop back down and go over to the platform with the energy pellet on it, if you need it. Just use the Rush Coil adaptor to get up to the platform. Once gotten, drop back down and go back up the ladder on the left and into the next area. Here, stay on the yellow platform and allow the three bats to your right on the ceiling to come out of their cocoons. Kill all three of them, and then charge up your arm cannon. Go right and destroy the green shielded robot when he lifts his shield to fire at you to your right. Then go right and into the next area. Here, first destroy all of the airborne enemies before using the red pods as transportation. Once all of the enemies are destroyed, use the pods to go from one pod to the next pod, then jump from the second pod to the ladder. Climb up the ladder into the next area. Here, again, first destroy all of the airborne enemies. Then ride from pod to pod to pod and to the ladder at the top left of the screen. If you mess up this set of pods (it's slightly more complex than the previous ones), just climb back down the ladder at the lower righthand corner of the screen into the previous area to reset the area, then climb back up and destroy the enemies again and take another stab at it. Once on the ladder, climb up into the next area. From here, go right. Destroy the bomber robot overhead as you first start out before he bombs you, and then go right s'more. When you get to the first ditch, don't jump over it yet. Charge up your arm cannon and wait for the Metool manning the large gun in front of you to peak his head out of his shell. Fire at him a few times to destroy him, then jump across the ditch. Avoid the bombers as you head right some more, and repeat this process a few more times with the Metools. Go all the way to the right. Once you are there, go up the ladder all the way to the right and into the next section. Here, simply face left and charge up your arm cannon. Wait for the large green robot to come down from the ceiling and as he jumps up and down, fire one super shot at him to destroy him. Procede to equip the Super Arrow and use it on the wall to your left as a stepping stone to the ladder in the upper lefthand corner of the screen. Once at the ladder, go up it to the next area. Here, immidiatly equip and get on the Rush Jet Adaptor and start going right. As you get a bit right, you'll notice that a green floor appears under you and starts weaving in and out of the platforms and stuff. Take the Rush Jet to the platform with the E-Tank and get the E-Tank. Unequip the adaptor and drop down to the next platform with the extra life on it. Get the extra life and wait for the green platform to get to you. Get on the platform and start riding it to your right. You MUST have your arm cannon charged and/or shooting to your right at all times to kill the numerous orange pods that are all over the place, going after you. Be careful that you don't land on or brush into any spikes as you, as the platform weaves both over AND under the spike beds in the air. Once all the way to the right, take the ladder down at the bottom right of the screen into the next area. Here, face left and immidiatly slide under the huge red robot as he jumps into the air and tries to land on you. Fall down the ditch at the left of the screen into the next area. From here, go right. Charge up your arm cannon. Slide under another red robot you encounter here and wait at the left of the ditch you encounter for the shielded robot to lift his shield. Once he does, fire a super shot at him and jump quickly over the ditch before the red robot gets to you and knocks you into the ditch himself. From here, go right, having your arm cannon charging once more. Kill the four additional shielded robots you come across in your quest right as you go, and make sure to pick up any items they drop. Once they are all defeated and you get to the right, jump up the step-like platforms and climb up the ladder at the right into the next area. Here, face left and slide under the red robot as he jumps and hovers. Grab the E-Tank on the lower platform at the lefthand side of the screen, and then quickly grab the ladder at the left and climb up it before the red robot collides with you and damages you. In this next area, go right and jump upon another moving green platform, in this, the final leg of the stage. As you go, shoot up the skull bomber robots and make sure their bombs don't knock you into any ditches! When you get all the way to the right, enter the boss lair. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *BATTLE BOSS STRATEGY* | The Battle Boss is the most difficult boss you'll face in Protoman's castle. He has two main attacks, and reminds me a lot like Flash Man in Mega Man 2 and Bright Man in Mega Man 4, not to mention Centaur Man in Mega Man 6! =) His one attack is from the large cannon mounted as his right arm. When he jumps in the air, he fires continous plasma shots at Mega Man, doing good damage. He can also shoot three weird shots that freeze Mega Man in place, and keep shim there until he gets hit by physical confrontation with the Battle Boss, or gets hit by Plasma shots from the Battle Boss' arm cannon. Either way, your best bet is to equip the Gyro Attack and fire those blades continuously at Battle Boss, doing great damage to him. Use an E- Tank if need be, and make sure to keep an eye on your energy, as he can chip away nicely at your energy and you wouldn't even know it. Once defeated, it's time to go on to the final stage in Protoman's castle. ***** ** ***** *** ***** * STAGE 12 - PROTO MAN STAGE 4 ***** ** ***** *** ***** * This stage is very short, but extremly unique. You have to use your arm cannon to destroy the brown barriers to make the stage go farther and farther down, making new parts of it accesible. It's very unique and there isn't much of a walkthrough I can give you for it, just use your common sense to judge how much you need to knock certain areas of the stage down without a.) crushing yourself, or, b.) running yourself into spikes. Remember that sometimes you'll have to slide into certain areas. Once at the top, slide right and into the boss lair. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *ULTRA BOSS STRATEGY* | As you enter the boss chamber, it looks as if you are going to encounter Protoman. He whistles... but doesn't it sound a little low? He fires a shot at you and leaves you with one energy pellet left, but then you hear another whistle... the TRUE Protoman whistle! Protoman swoops into the room. The fake Protoman fires at him but misses, but Protoman fires at the fake Protoman and turns him into the Ultra Boss. Mega Man's energy gets refilled by an "L-Tank" that Protoman leaves behind. And then the battle begins. The Ultra Boss is a combined robot of the three robots you fought previously in Protoman's castle, although he isn't too hard at all. Many people use the Star Crash against this enemy, but I opt to use Beat instead. Simply equip Beat and stay near, but not TOO close to the enemy, while Beat chips away at the enemy. The Ultra Boss has skills of each of the previous three enemies. Arm cannon, shield, et cetera. So be careful as you fight him. You're almost definetly going to need an E- Tank while fighting this guy too, so do be weary of that. Once defeated, the real bad guy is found! Dr. Wily appears to Mega Man and talks to him. He tells him how he had managed to frame Protoman for his own crimes up until the real Protoman foiled his plan. He tells Mega Man that Dr. Light has been captured and is a captive in the laboratory of Dr. Wily's Dr. Wily invites Mega Man to come and get the captured doctor back if he can! ***** ** ** **** ***** * STAGE 13 - DR. WILY STAGE 1 ***** ** ** **** ***** * As the stage starts, go left and jump onto the platform to your left and get the E- Tank. Then, go back right and climb down the ladder there. This leads you into a room filled with spikes on everything. Go left on the platform you're on and jump into the ditch lined with spikes. You'll fall down a story, and then land on a platform. Go left off of the platform and fall down a few more areas. Once past two areas, jam right on the d-pad to avoid landing in spikes as you land from the huge free fall. Once you land, head right and avoid the razors as you go. Have your arm cannon charged at all times and kill the small red robots as you come across them with super shots, for one hit kills. Go all the way right, killing enemies as you go and avoiding the razors. Once you get all the way to the right, climb up the ladder there and into the next area. Here are many enemies - four guns and two bats. Charge up your arm cannon and shoot and kill the guns before they come out of the ground to your left. Then go to the left and kill the two bats as they come out of their protective cocoons. Once that is done, go to the platform in the upper left where the ladder is. Equip the Super Arrow and ride it across to the platform in the upper righthand corner where the energy pellet is. Get it to recharge your energy, then drop back down, go up and left, and up the ladder into the next area. In this area, simply go right and jump onto the silver conveyor belt, pushing right as you go. Charge up your arm cannon and fire it at the red robots as you get off of the various conveyor belts as you head right. Repeat this a few times as you keep heading right, and once you get all the way right, climb up the ladder you get to and into the next area. Here, you are in a room with five red airborne pods going after you. Equip the Crystal Eye and face the right of the screen. Shoot the Crystal Eye at the wall and break it up into three pieces, killing most, if not all, of the red pods in the room. Once they are all dead, (you'll have to fire the Crystal Eye twice, by the way), equip the Rush Coil Adaptor, and use it to get to the platform in the upper lefthand corner to where the ladder is. Once up there, climb the ladder to the next area. This next part of the stage reminds me a lot of Spark Man's stage in Mega Man 3. You have to jump from spinning wheel to spinning wheel, using them as platforms. To make matters more difficult, you also have to avoid razors that are circling around certain wheels, and also avoid fire from the large enemy below that is trying to knock you into a pit as you go right. Once all the way right, successfully manuvering the various wheels as platforms, go right and into the next area. Now THIS area reminds me of Dust Man's level from Mega Man 4. (everything reminds me of something, doesn't it!). Charge up your arm cannon and shoot the Metool Gun as you go right. You have to traverse this area all while the structure above moves up and down, in areas trying to crush and kill Mega Man instantly. To make matters worse, you also have to destroy purple barrier blocks with shots from your arm cannon to procede in certain areas. Go right, kill Metool Guns as you go and destroying any purple barrier you come across. In the final part, make sure to keep sliding right into the next area, or you WILL get crushed. Once in the next area, climb up the step-like platforms to the platform right below where the machine duck is and shoot it continuously in the head, while avoiding or killing the little guys it shoots from it's stomach. Once defeated, go up and right and up the ladder there. Here, you have to kill two airborne pods and two guns that are on the platforms to your left. Kill the guns first with super shots from your arm cannon, then climb up on the platforms and face right, firing away at the two green pods. Once everything in that room is defeated, go up the ladder at the top left of the screen. From here, face right and charge up your arm cannon. Climb down the ladder so only a little bit of your body is over. When the shield robot at the right takes his shield up to fire at you, fire a super shot at him to kill him in one hit. Repeat this process for the one behind him as well. Once both are defeated, get off of the ladder and go right, over the spike pits, and kill more airborne enemies and shield robots as you go. Once all the way right, enter the boss lair. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *TWO WHEELER STRATEGY* | The Two Wheeler is a tall robot that is only vulnerable to attack on his head, which is way to high for Mega Man to reach any 'ol conventional way. Instead, you're going to need a combonation of two weapons - the arm cannon and the Crystal Eye, to effectivly attack and destroy the Two Wheeler. First, lets discuss what attacks the Two Wheeler has. He has one attack, but two ways of damaging you. His attack is to shoot small green robots out of his head that float down. They can be shot out of the air by the arm cannon with one shot, so they aren't to worry about. To get to the top of his head, first shoot the lower part of his body with the arm cannon to make it shoot towards you. As it comes towards you, jump onto it. Then shoot the middle part of the body to make that come towards you and jump on it. From here, equip the Crystal Eye and take a shot or two at the head of the robot before jumping down. Repeat this process a few times and the enemy will be toast. It's entirely possible, and almost likely, that you won't receive any damage when fighting this enemy! ***** ** ** **** ***** * STAGE 14 - DR. WILY STAGE 2 ***** ** ** **** ***** * This is the last true stage in the game, and it's really not all that difficult. Let us tackle it, shall we? In the beginning part of the stage, you simply have to head right, while activating the clear robots from the ceiling and killing them as you go. Just keep going right and they will activate when you get close enough to them. When they fall down, kill them. These are the only enemies you'll encounter as you right in the first area. When you get near the end of the area, make sure to carefully jump over the spike pit, and when you jump down the ditch into the next area all the way at the right, make sure to completely clear the spikes that are right next to it, or you'll die instantly. When you jump into the pit, you'll be in water. Jump down and as you go down, hug the left wall to go into the crevasse in the wall to get the E-Tank there. Then, go right. As you go right, you'll come across a few Metools. Kill them and then jump on the wheels and use them as stepping stones to your right. Be careful, as the third one as you go along spins and can knock you into the void below, killing you. When you get to the end, kill the water Metool as he jumps up and fires at you, and continue to your right. Continue going right in this manner, but be careful as you jump. You can jump extremly high, like you can in water in all of the Mega Man games (except the first one). It's similar to Star Man's stage as you get farther right, as you have to jump just high enough to get through, but not too high, or you'll hit spikes on the ceiling and die. So keep going right, and collect the large energy pellet you come across before proceding (I'm quite sure you'd need it by now). When you get all the way to the right, past all of the water Metools, et cetera, climb up the ladder at your right and into the next area. All this area holds for you are two water Metools to your left. Kill both of them and simply climb up the ladder at the left of the screen into the next area. Once in the next area, it's half filled by water, so you can jump quite as high, but you can still jump higher than normal. Head right and kill the water Metool you come to. Then jump out of the area you're in with the water to dry land and head right. Kill enemies as you continue to head right, and then jump down the ditch all the way to the right of the screen into the next area. From here, face left and wait for the bats at your left to come out of their cocoons. Kill them one by one with the arm cannon, then jump over the spike ditch at your left and down to the main floor. Head right and charge up the arm cannon, an fire the arm cannon at the rat on the platform to your right, and then continue right. Kill the rats with super shots as you go and ignore the bat cocoons and any bats that come out of them on the ceiling, just keep going right. Once all the way right, jump down the ditch at your right and into the next area. From here, just kill the enemies and procede into the next area, up the ladder all the way at the right. Here is a large green enemy, similar to the red robots we've been avoiding all game, but this guy, we can't avoid him. Don't climb all the way up the ladder, but be about in between the ladder. Equip the Crystal Eye. When the green guy attempts to jump on you, he won't be able to because you still haven't surfaced your character. Fire the Crystal Eye at the wall at your right and do little bits of damage to him. Slowly but surely he'll die, and then you can go all the way up the ladder into this enemy free zone. Equip the Rush Jet Adaptor and use it to get to the ladder in the upper lefthand corner of the screen. Once up there, procede up the ladder into the next area. Here is another of the green robots, guarding the entrance to the boss lair. Just let him hit you so you become invisible, then quickly enter the boss lair and get ready to battle. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *SUPER FLYER STRATEGY* | The Super Flyer is a pretty easy boss, granted you know what you're doing in order to damage it, and ultimatly, to kill it. You'll want to equip the Gyro Attack upon entering the lair. Now, this boss is an airborne one, and he has two attacks. He can shoot large orange balls out of two areas of his body, which go in different directions. Ocassionally, he'll open the two side hatches on either side of his head. This is where you'll want to throw Gyro Attacks at him. How do you get up there? Simply use one of the two silver platforms on either side of the lair that, upon you standing on them, go up and down and allow you to be at eye level with your target. Use an E-Tank when necessary! ***** ** ** **** ***** * STAGE 15 - DR. WILY STAGE 3 ***** ** ** **** ***** * This stage is very short and very straight forward. It simply leads to the teleport room for you to battle each Robot Master once more before fighting Wily himself. In the beginning of the stage, simply equip the Rush Coil and use it to jump to the leftmost platform high above you where the E-Tank is. Get the E-Tank and then go right, and keep walking right. At the end of the stage is a red gun. Shoot the gun a few times to destroy it, then enter the teleport hatch he was guarding, and you'll be teleported to a room that looks like this... ---------- ---------- | | | | | GRAVITY | | CHARGE | | MAN | | MAN | | | | | | Use: | | Use: | | STAR | | POWER | | CRASH | | STONE | ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- | | | | | | | WAVE | | GYRO | | NAPALM | | MAN | | MAN | | MAN | | | | | | | | Use: | | Use: | | Use: | | CHARGE | | GRAVITY | | CRYSTAL | | KICK | | HOLD | | EYE | ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- | | | | | | | STONE | | STAR | | CRYSTAL | | MAN | | MAN | | MAN | | | | | | | | Use: | | Use: | | Use: | | NAPALM | | WATER | | GYRO | | BOMB | | WAVE | | ATTACK| ---------- ---------- ---------- Once all eight robot masters are defeated for the final time, a ninth teleport will appear at the top middle of the room. Enter it and get ready to fight Wily for the first time! ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *WILY #1 STRATEGY* | The first form of Dr. Wily is fairly easy to defeat. Your weapon of choice is certainly the regular arm cannon. The biggest challenge in fighting this baddie is actually avoiding the small spike pit in the middle of the lair. Otherwise, Wily in his first form here is very easy to defeat. His first form is basically in a UFO, and he flies back and forth. His only attack is crushing you by landing the UFO on top of you. When the window goes up on his UFO and the UFO stops, slide or jump out of the way, but make sure as you are running around beforehand, you have the Mega Buster charged. When he falls and misses you, shoot the cockpit, the only vulnerable part of the machine, with the charged shot before proceeding to parry away from the UFO as it goes back up. Repeat this process, while avoiding the deady spike pit in the middle of the lair, and he'll die after not long at all. ***** ** ** **** ***** * STAGE 16 - DR. WILY STAGE 4 ***** ** ** **** ***** * This stage is the final stage in the game, and is short and to the point. At the beginning, head right and charge the Mega Buster up. You'll cross paths with an AT- ST like enemy, like in Star Man's stage. Fire at the eye on his head to destroy him, and then go right and down the ditch to the right of the path, down into the next area. From here, go left across the platform and fall down into the huge abyss below. Now, go left and kill another AT-ST like enemy here before entering Dr. Wily's lair to the right. ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *WILY #2 STRATEGY* | This version of Wily is a huge Skull Tank with several ways of attacking Mega Man. He is, however, very easy. Equip the regular 'ol Mega Buster and simply fire away at him, preferably with charged up arm cannon shots. He'll die very quick for a final boss... but he's not the final boss! The final version of Wily is here! ++-BOSS BATTLE-++ | *WILY #3 STRATEGY* | This is the true final boss in the game! Wily is very easy too, but not quite as easy as his two counterparts earlier. People suggest using the Beat adaptor often on this guy, but I find it much easier, and I recommend, using the charged up Mega Buster. Wily is in his regular UFO here, and appears and disappears randomly. When he appears, he will shoot two large plasma shots that will run along the ground. Jump over them and, if he is low enough to the ground, fire a charged up Mega Blaster shot at him before he disappears again. When he reappears, he'll have repeat this process, and when he disappears, a shield of plasma will surround him and go outward, similar to the Power Stone. He's really quite easy. Keep doing this and he'll be defeated, and you have beaten Mega Man 5! =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION X - ENDING =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= THE ENDING CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS - PLEASE DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU'VE BEATEN THE GAME OR WANT TO SEE THE CONTENTS OF THE ENDING!!! As Wily is defeated in his third form, he runs from his UFO, away from Mega Man. Mega Man persues him, and then Wily finally stops in Dr. Light's holding chamber and starts to, in a Wily-esque manner, beg for forgiveness. Mega Man grabs Light from his holding cell, but all of a sudden, the castle starts to explode! As the ceiling begins to fall, Mega Man holds it up so it doesn't crush everyone. This allows Wily to escape, however. Mega Man still holds the ceiling up, and Dr. Light is going crazy. But then you hear Protoman's whistle and he blows some of the ceiling away so that Mega Man and Dr. Light can escape, and they do, and the ceiling falls behind them. You then see the castle from afar blowing up, and Wily's UFO escaping from the wreckage. Light and Mega Man are watching from one corner of the screen, while Protoman is watching from the other. Then the credits roll! =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION XI - WEAPONS =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= The eight weapons you can get in the game are the most important items you can possibly get in the game, and at some points, they make boss battles easier, and other times, they are absolutly necessary in defeating a particular boss. Below is a list of the eight weapons you get in the game, other than your basic Mega Buster arm cannon weapon, and a short description about them. [the weapons below are found in alphabetical order] Weapon Name: CHARGE KICK From: Charge Man Description: The Charge Kick reminds me a lot of the Top Spin from Mega Man 3 (Top Man's weapon) in that it's not a conventional "press B to fire" weapon. Instead, you have to slide while you have this weapon equipped to use the weapon. It's an adaptor that allows a slash to come in front of Mega Man's slide to do damage to enemies, and is especially useful on Wave Man, as well as the first boss in Protoman's castle. Weapon Name: CRYSTAL EYE From: Crystal Man Description: The Crystal Eye is an extremly useful weapon in the game, because it can hit and damage enemies in two ways. You can fire this large crystalline shard straight at an enemy to do good damage, or you can intentionally miss your target all together and allow the eye to hit a hard object like a wall, and split into four smaller pieces of crystal shrapnel, allowing you to hit your enemy four times. This tactic is especially useful while fighting Napalm Man. Weapon Name: GRAVITY HOLD From: Gravity Man Description: The Gravity Hold isn't actually a weapon, a classic weapon in the sense of it does something you can see. In fact, it hardly effects any enemy at all in the game. The Gravity Hold simply pulls down an enemy that is airborne, damaging it in the process. The way you know that the weapon is in use is if you press the B button to "fire" it and you'll see a flashing screen and hear a slight "ting" noise, letting you know it worked. It's primary, and basically only "useful" use in the game is to easily defeat the airborne Gyro Man. Weapon Name: GYRO ATTACK From: Gyro Man Description: The Gyro Attack is a boomerang-projectile-like attack. When equipped, Mega Man chucks some of Gyro Man's blades (similar to the ones on his back, and the ones he used in battle with you before you defeat him.) While generic, they are extremly useful in Wily's and Protoman's castle, and are used to penetrate Crystal Man's thick and inpenetrable crystal armor in battle with him, so you don't have to use the regular arm cannon to duel with him. Weapon Name: NAPALM BOMB From: Napalm Man Description: The Napalm Bomb is a powerful and explosive weapon. When fired, a canaster drops to the ground and bounces a few times before a fairly minor explosion takes place, damaging all in range of its reach. While a hard weapon to use (you often have to time your shots to explode when the enemy is in reach), it is a useful weapon once mastered, and a necessary weapon to use in Protoman's and Wily's castles. Also, use this weapon to easily crumble Stone Man, although you'll want to time your shots carefully on him. Weapon Name: POWER STONE From: Stone Man Description: The Power Stone is a shield-like weapon, but only by looks - it doesn't actually block any attacks like true shield weapons do. Three stones circulate outwards once fired destroying enemies all around you as it goes. Extremly useful in stopping the high powered robot master Charge Man in his tracks (literally!), although it's also useful in clearing a cluttered screen full of enemies as well. Weapon Name: STAR CRASH From: Star Man Description: The Star Crash/Crush is an infamous shield-weapon, commonplace in the Mega Man series. The Star Crash, while having a cool name, is just as generic as the Leaf Shield (Wood Man - Mega Man 2), the Skull Barrier (Skull Man - Mega Man 4), and the Plant Barrier (Plant Man - Mega Man 6). To deploy it, press the fire button and run around with it, and press B again to fire it in the direction you're facing. Keep in mind that having the shield equipped does not always mean automatic protection. Some objects and enemies go right through it, and all others make the shield disappear after one hit on it. Be weary of it, and use it to slow down Gravity Man, although it's not necessary to use on him, or anywhere else in the game for that matter. Weapon Name: WATER WAVE From: Wave Man Description: The Water Wave is a water weapon that spurts little waves to shoot out towards the enemy, drowning their circuits and slowing them down, all while damaging them greatly. While not the most versitile and useful weapon in the game, the Water Wave is more innovative than most weapons in the Mega Man series, especially in this game, where repeat-weapons appear more frequently than not. Use the Water Wave on Star Man if you choose, although Star Man is just as, if not easier to defeat using the regular 'ol arm cannon. OTHER Adaptor Name: Super Arrow From: Defeat Star Man Description: The Super Arrow is most commonly related to the Wire Adaptor in Mega Man 4, and the Electric Wire adaptor in the original NES Mega Man. Using the Super Arrow, you can shoot an arrow in the air that you can stand on and use it as a stepping stone, or you can fly across a screen using them until they hit into a solid object. While not the most useful item you can possibly use, it's a good replacement of the Rush Marine, and has it's fair share of optional uses. You get it automatically after defeating Star Man, so why not use it? =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION XII - RUSH ADAPTORS =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= There are only two Rush Adaptors in this game, each with its own use. Below is a short list of them, how you acquire them, and a short description of them as well. [the below list is in alphabetical order] RUSH COIL Acquired: Start the game with it Description: The Rush Coil is the Rush Adaptor you'll probably get the most use out of. TO use it, you deply Rush and a coil pops out of his back. Jump on it to get significant height in a jump to get to hard to reach platforms and ladders, to get those out-of-the-way extra lives and E-Tanks, et cetera. RUSH JET Acquired: After defeating Gyro Man Description: The Rush Jet is a nifty little gadget. When you deplor Rush with this equipped, Rush turns into a portable jet to get you to and fro with full control function. Use it to cross long air gaps otherwise uncrossable in the game, mainly in the two castles. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION XIII - ITEMS =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= - Energy Pellet (white): Restores energy to Mega Man's health meter. Big ones restore a lot of energy, little ones restore a little bit of energy. - Energy Pellet (blue): Restores energy to Mega Man's weapons. Big ones restore a lot of energy, little ones restore a little bit of energy. - E-Tank: You can carry as many as nine of these in your inventory. These blue paintcan-looking items can be stored and used to re-fill your energy meter to maximum at any time during the game. Especially useful in Dr. Wily's various stages. - M-Tank: The M-Tank is an extremly useful item. It's use is to completely fill up your weapons and your health as well, all at once. If you use it when you have full energy and weapon energy for everything, you will get an automatic extra life. If there are enemies when you do that trick on the screen before you pressed start, they will all turn into extra lives as well. Nifty, no? - Extra Life- Shaped like Mega Man's head. Pick it up to receive and extra life! =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION XIV - DAMAGE CHART =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Please note that all numbers are approximate, although I'm positive most, if not all, numbers are right in this chart. Before we go onto the damage charts, there are two things I must explain. First of all, I'll explain how I got these figures, and then I'll explain how to read the chart. How these figures were obtained: These numbers and whatnot on the chart were obtained via careful calculation. I simply fought every Robot Master with every weapon, including him own. I then saw how many hits with each weapon it took to kill that Robot Master, and put the figures on the chart. A -- symbolizes that the Robot Master is immune to that weapon and that it doesn't effect him in any way. To read the chart: Simply line up the name of the robot master on the left side with the robot master weapon you want to beat him with on the top. There is a key below to read the symbols. Key to the Charts: MM - Mega Man SM - Star Man GM - Gravity Man GM2- Gyro Man CM - Crystal Man NM - Napalm Man SM2- Stone Man CM2- Charge Man WM - Wave Man [each meter has 28 lines of energy in them, so that'll explain all of the 28s below.] Robot Master MM SM GM GM2 CM NM SM2 CM2 WM ------------------------------------------------- Star Man 28 28 -- 28 28 28 28 -- 07 ------------------------------------------------- Gravity Man 28 07 -- 28 28 28 28 -- 28 ------------------------------------------------- Gyro Man 28 28 07 28 28 28 28 28 28 ------------------------------------------------- Crystal Man 28 28 28 07 28 28 28 28 28 ------------------------------------------------- Napalm Man 28 28 -- 28 09 28 28 -- 28 ------------------------------------------------- Stone Man 28 14 28 -- 28 07 28 28 28 ------------------------------------------------- Charge Man 28 28 -- 28 28 28 07 -- 28 ------------------------------------------------- Wave Man 28 28 -- 28 28 28 28 07 28 ------------------------------------------------- [a fully charged arm cannon shot does three damage to any Robot Master instead of one damage, making the 28 a 9.3 (or just 9), if you shoot him everytime with a charged arm cannon.] =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION XV - PASSWORD COMPELATION =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Usually, I am able to crack a password system for a game, and when I try, I verify it with The Mega Man Homepage, at www.mmhp.net, easily the best Mega Man website on the web. However, they don't display the "crack" on the page as they do with the other games, but only the Javascript password generator done by Luc Miron and Mandi Paugh (Luc Miron is actually in the Mega Man 6 credits, and is known across the Internet as the famous Pixelboy. His famous Mega Man website closed it's doors forever in early 1998 after his tragic loss of his father.) Anyhow, until I can sucessfully crack the password system for Mega Man 5, this will forever remain a mystery, although you can and should go to www.mmhp.net and use their generator there for any of your password needs. In the mean time, I can explain how the password works, to the best of my knowledge. There seems to be a total of 16 options to fill in on the password chart, although not all of them need to be filled in. Any boss character that gives you an adaptor (Star Man with the Super Arrow adaptor and Gyro Man with the Rush Jet adaptor) are automatically included in the password for those two particular bosses once they are defeated. The eight MEGAMANV pieces for Beat, however, are another eight things that need to be filled in, and that's what is giving me the most difficulty in cracking the password. Here is how the password seems to be organized, according to what I've figured out thusfar. *Charge Kick (Charge Man's stage complete) *Crystal Eye (Crystal Man's stage complete) *Gravity Hold (Gravity Man's stage complete) *Gyro Attack + Rush Jet Adaptor (Gyro Man's stage complete) *Napalm Bomb (Napalm Man's stage complete) *Power Stone (Stone Man's stage complete) *Star Crush + Super Arrow (Star Man's stage complete) *Water Wave (Wave Man's stage complete) Additionally, I know of eight more password additions, for each of the eight MEGAMANV pieces. *M (as found on Gravity Man's stage) *E (as found on Wave Man's stage) *G (as found on Stone Man's stage) *A (as found on Gyro Man's stage) *M (as found on Star Man's stage) *A (as found on Charge Man's stage) *N (as found on Napalm Man's stage) *V (as found on Crystal Man's stage) Also, there could be additional information coded into the password generator so that people can't easily crack them, like in Mega Man 4, where the amount of information you put into the password generator was accompanied by an additional "dot" of information showing how much you had in the game in items, in that case, 0-10 (eight robot master weapons, two secret adaptors. The Rush Adaptors were teamed up with the robot master you acquired them from). So in Mega Man 5, you could very well have the same option, this time, with 16 possible password items, the number would go 0-16, giving you 17 more possibilities. I'll let you know in further updates my process proceedings, et cetera, in my attempt to crack the Mega Man 5 password. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= SECTION XVI - SPECIAL THANKS, ABOUT THE AUTHOR, AND CLOSING NOTES =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= ---Special Thanks goes out to:--- *My family (Mom, Dad, Dagan, Dana, and Ali) *My peeps (Mike, Cody, Corey, Jason, Graham, and the rest) *My Favorite Band (311) for keeping me company with background music while playing through this and basically all videogames. *Capcom (for making such a great game and such a great series) *Nintendo (for making the NES way back in '85, my favorite system to this day, even if I DO have like ten other systems, nextgen and all.
