You control a party of monsters in a post-apocalyptic world which is being invaded by aliens who want to colonize the planet. Sounds amazing, right? Well, there are a few other good things about the game. It is quite story driven, with a lot of mystery surrounding your quest that makes you wonder what will happen in the end, and a good deal of cutscenes to go along with that. When you load the game, don't touch anything for a few seconds and an introductory animation will start, setting the mood perfectly. Also, your monsters evolve into new creatures as you gain experience, so they get meaner and meaner looking, which adds a fun touch. OK, now that you're excited to try it out, there are some major flaws to the game that may completely ruin your experience. First of all, the battles are extremely slow paced. Every action feels like it takes an eternity, and when you're fighting 8 enemies at once and you have to wait for all of them to take an action, it's painful. It's nice that you can save your game anywhere, so when you're attacked by 8 enemies you can just reset the game and continue on. Another major flaw is that there is very little information telling you where to go or what to do, and what you have to do is often something you would never think of. You don't have to worry about this part so much, because if you're stuck you can just look at this guide where I'll fill you in on what to do. Also, I should mention that the game is really easy once you've gotten started. During most of the battles, the enemies won't be able to hurt you and you will be able to kill them in one hit. Maybe to you that's a good thing, or maybe it's bad. The game is currently only in Japanese, and so I've done my best to try to help you understand the story as it progresses. To be honest, I found translating this game pretty hard. Usually, I can play through a Japanese RPG without even using a dictionary and I'll understand the story. But for some reason, this game was really hard for me to read. I guess it's because it has a much more literary style than most games and uses a lot of words that I'm not used to. On top of this, the story is filled with plot twists, abstract concepts, and is purposefully confusing. I'm guessing even a native Japanese speaking person would be confused about what's happening. Despite the flaws I mentioned, for some reason I had a good time playing through this game, so maybe you will too. But I'm guessing that most people will find it too slow paced and won't have the patience. - - - = = = ==================== = = = - - - - - - = = = ===== Contents ===== = = = - - - - - - = = = ==================== = = = - - - Search words are given in square brackets []. 1. It suddenly trembles, and all life on the planets surface is destroyed. There was silence on the planet, which lasted for several ages. Then something strange happened. An object falls to the planet's surface. Two monsters, a skeleton and a minotaur, are seen on the planet's surface. Minotaur: "Another one has fallen." Skeleton: "That makes 108 altogether." Minotaur: "I wonder if this one is also a lithograph." Skeleton: "When the humans were destroyed, it seemed that it was finally our time to rule the planet, but now I wonder what this means?" Minotaur: "These lithographs must mean that there are still living things somewhere." Skeleton: "We should look into that." Minotaur: "Huh! What a pain. If this is a prank by our colleagues, I'm going to go smash everything up!" Skeleton: "For now, let's go scouting. You can smash everything up later." At that instant, a gunshot is heard. A bullet goes straight through the skeleton's brain. Minotaur: "Whoa! Skeleton! Skeleton! Ah! You...You bastards! Who are you!!?" An alien is seen standing before the minotaur, holding a gun. Calmly, the alien began to speak. Alien: "Tell your colleagues what I am about to say. Do not resist. I can strike you down at any time. This planet is now the 203rd colonial planet of the Chirius. If you resist, you will die. You have two choices: either abide by our orders, or fight us and die. We will wait until tomorrow morning for your reply. Now go tell your comrades what I said." The minotaur reluctantly returned to Hell and told the demons what had happened. They were infuriated and wanted to go destroy the aliens. They called together the 12 greatest demon warriors and gave them two missions: to investigate the mystery of the lithographs and to destroy the aliens. With the feeling that a great battle was about to begin, the 12 demons set out on their journey. The fate of the Earth is about to be decided. The final battle is about to begin. - - - = = = =================== = = = - - - - - - = = = == Game Mechanics = = = = - - - - - - = = = =================== = = = - - - [sec2] ========================= ---= The 3 Monster Parties =--- [sec2a] ========================= You command 12 monsters, who are divided into three parties. You control the "daytime party" during the daytime hours of 10:00-22:00, and you control the "nighttime party" during the nighttime hours of 22:00-10:00. You only control the third party, the "Salvan party", during the last day of the month. Time passes slower during the last day of the month, so you control the Salvan party for awhile longer per summoning. Each party has its own money, so if you gain a lot of money with the daytime party, the nighttime party cannot use it. All of the parties need to be leveled up separately. It doesn't matter which party you're using during any portion of the game, they can all progress the game forward. ---Daytime party--- You control the daytime party during the hours of 10:00-22:00. The members are: Ork (オーク) - Has some useful spells and he can create weapons and armor. Has no Special Skills. Special Attributes: Create Weapon, Create Armor. Harpy (ハーピィ) - Can fly your party on the world map. Is not able to equip weapons and armor (Other than the Azotto Sword). Special Attributes: Flight. Minotaur (ミノタウロス) - Has limited magic ability, but many useful Special Attributes. Special Attributes: Create Weapons, Create Armor, Create Items, Clairvoyance. GSnake (Gスネーク) - Has good spells, including healing spells. His attack is pretty weak compared to other monster. He is not capable of equipping weapons or armor (except for the Azotto Sword). Special Attributes: Weak Against Water. ---Nighttime party--- You control the nighttime party during the hours of 22:00-10:00. The members are: Goblin (ゴブリン) - Has some useful spells and he can create weapons and armor. Has no Special Skills. Special Attributes: Create Weapon, Create Armor. Gargoyle (ガーゴイル) - Can fly your party on the world map. Also can create items. Is not able to equip weapons and armor (except for the Azotto Sword). Special Attributes: Create Items, Flight. Cyclops (サイクロプス) - Has a few useful spells and is able to see the world map. Also has the very useful Memory ability. Special Attributes: Memory, Clairvoyance. Skeleton (スケルトン) - Has good spells, including healing spells. Able to create items. His attack is pretty weak compared to the other monsters. Special Attributes: Create Items, Weak Against Water. ---Salvan party--- You control the Salvan party during the last day of the month. Golem (ゴーレム) - Decent magic user. Cannot equip weapons or armor (except for the Azotto Sword). Special Attributes: Create Weapons, Flight. Slime (スライム) - Has limited magic ability, but is a good fighter otherwise. Cannot equip weapons or armor (except for Azotto Sword). Special Attributes: Weak Against Fire, Weapon Defense. =========== ---= Battles =--- [sec2b] =========== Battles in this game are turn-based. The large-looking menu might seem intimidating at first, especially since it's in Japanese, but it's actually very simple and much like the games you're probably already used to. You have regular, physical attacks, magic, and "Special Skills". Magic attacks can be used to attack the enemies or heal your party, etc. However, the "Special Skills" are only used to attack enemies. See the "Special Skills" section below for more. If you target an enemy with two characters, and the first character kills the enemy, the second character will not target a different enemy, he will just lose his chance to take an action. If you have a character defend in battle, that character will not take damage from any enemies, no matter how strong the enemy is. In fact, the defending character will not be inflicted with status ailments either. This means a character with low HP can just defend and never be in danger. When you want to run from battle, you can give the "Run" command to all four of your characters, and you will then have four chances to run. However, you must wait for their turns for them to get the chance to run, so if the enemies get to attack first, you have to wait. It seems like, in general, running doesn't work very often in this game. There are only two status ailments in the game: Poison and Sleep. Poisoned characters are not affected by the poison during battle, but are hurt when walking around outside of battle. Characters that are asleep can take no actions while asleep, but will wake up after a turn or two. =============== ---= Leveling Up =--- [sec2c] =============== You don't level up in this game like you do in most RPG's. Your statistics are increased independently depending on what actions you take during battle. Your attack strength increases more if you attack and your magic strength increases more if you cast spells. To increase your defense, you have to defend. So during an ideal battle, you would defend with all of your characters first before attacking, and you would mix-up how often you use regular attacks or magic. Some of your statistics can even increase when you run from battle. Another interesting thing is that, if you cast a magic spell outside of battle (such as to cure poison or heal an ally), you still gain experience for your magic strength. However, your magic will not actually level up until after you've finished the next battle. You also have an intelligence statistic that only increases when you use items. It increases by one point for every item you use, and the item does not need to be used during battle. This statistic needs to be higher than 20 in order for a particular character to learn to read. You need to have at least one character that can read in order to progress in the game, and it's most convenient to have one in each of your parties. You also have an evolution level that increases over time. When this level is high enough, your monsters will evolve. Technically, according to the game, they fuse their genes with other monsters, to form a new more powerful one. One nice aspect of this leveling process is that your HP is refilled every time your "body strength" stat levels up, and your MP is refilled when you magic strength levels up, so you rarely need to worry about healing yourself. To see your stats from the menu, first select "See" (みる), then select "Parameters" (パラメータ). Select a character, and you will have the following stats to look at: たいりょく - "Body Strength". Determines your maximum HP. まりょく - "Magic Strength". Determines your maximum MP and what spells you can use. こうげきりょく - "Attack Strength". Determines physical attack strength during battle. ぼうぎょりょく - "Defensive Strength". Determines how much damage you take during battle. びんしょうせい - "Agility". Determines how quickly you take your turn during battle. そうごう - "Synthesis". Determines what level of evolution your character has obtained. ちせい - "Intelligence". Needs to be at 20 or higher for your character to be able to read. If you select a stat (other than "Synthesis" or "Intelligence"), you will get a submenu, with the following statistics: レベル - "Level". The current level that this stat has reached. すうち - "Value". The numerical value of the current stat. けいけんち - "Experience Points". How much experience you've earned for this particular stat. つぎのレベルまで - "To Next Level". Experience points needed for this stat to increase in level. ====================== ---= Special Attributes =--- [sec2d] ====================== Each monster has a set of Special Attributes at the beginning of the game that will never change. These are very useful and you should get to know them right away so you can tackle the game most efficiently: Create Weapon (ぶきさくせい) - Able to create weapons by spending Jin. See "Creating Weapons, Armor, and Items" section. Characters: Ork, Minotaur, Goblin, Golem, Dragon Newt. Create Armor (ぼうぐさくせい) - Able to create armor by spending Jin. See "Creating Weapons, Armor, and Items" section. Characters: Ork, Minotaur, Goblin, Golem, ASphinx. Create Item (どうぐさくせい) - Able to create items by spending Jin. See "Creating Weapons, Armor, and Items" section. Characters: Minotaur, Gargoyle, Skeleton, ASphinx. Flight (ひこうかのう) - Able to fly party on the world map by pressing "B" button. Characters: Harpy, Gargoyle, Dragon Newt. Clairvoyance (せんりがん) - Shows world map. Characters: Minotaur, Cyclops. Memory (きおくりょく) - This is a useful ability that allows you to return to previous locations you've visited in a 3D dungeon. You can store up to 3 locations, and return to them any time. It's not the same thing as saving your game, because your HP/MP and such will not revert to an old state, but they'll be at whatever they were before you "warped" back to the stored location. When you select the "Memory" ability, you get the following menu: きおくをみる - View currently stored locations. きおくする - Store current location. きおくをたどる - Return to stored location. きおくをけす - Erase a stored location. Note: You can't store a location in a slot that already has a location until you use the "erase" command. Characters: Cyclops, ASphinx. Weak Against Water (みずによわい) - Character is damaged more by walking in water on world map than other characters. Characters: GSnake, Skeleton, Golem. Weak Against Fire (ひによわい) - Effect? Characters: Slime. Weapon Defense (ぶきぼうぎょ) - Character is stronger against physical attacks. Characters: Slime. ================== ---= Special Skills =--- [sec2e] ================== Special Skills are skills you can use during battle. They are always attack skills, and they can attack either one or all enemies. They don't cost anything to use. When you finally get one that can attack all enemies at once, it will make your life easier for handling big parties of enemies, but your stats increase noticeably slower when you use an attack-all type attack to quickly win a fight. Below, I list the Special Skills that I came across, but it is in no way a complete list. The only thing that seems to matter is if the attack hurts one or all enemies, so that is all I list for each attack. Iron Claw (アイアンクロー) - Single Killer Cutter (キラーカッター) - Single Killer Shot (キラーショット) - All Killer Tail (キラーテイル) - Single Killer Bone (キラーボーン) - Single Crush Tail (クラッシュテイル) - Single Thunder Attack (サンダーアタック) - Single Thunder Arode (サンダーアローデ) - All Storm Cutter (ストームカッター) - Single Stone Ball (ストーンボール) - Single Stone Bomb (ストーンボム) - Single Cell Shot (セルショット) - Single Sonic Web (ソニックウェーブ) - Single Destroy Claw (デストロイクロー) - Single Devil Claw (デビルクロー) - Single Devil Thunder (デビルサンダー) - All Devil Hurricane (デビルハリケーン) - All Devil Horn (デビルホーン) - Single Needle Tail (ニードルテイル) - Single Buster Cutter (バスターカッター) - All Buster Claw (バスタークロー) - Single Buster Shot (バスターショット) - All Buster Storm (バスターストーム) - All Buster Stone (バスターストーン) - All Buster Bone (バスターボーン) - Single Banshee Boisde(バンシーボイスデ) - All Banshee Bois (バンシーボイス) - All Beast Web (ビーストウェーブ) - Single Beast Bois (ビーストボイス) - All Beast Boiz (ビーストボイズ) - All Bless Shot (ブレスショット) - Single Bone Attack (ボーンアタック) - Single Bolt Shock (ボルトショック) - Single ========= ---= Magic =--- [sec2f] ========= Here, I list the magic spells I came across. I am sure there are many that did not make it to this list, but these will be plenty for helping you through the game. I list the spell translation, the original Japanese name, its effect, and how much MP it costs. Ado (アド) - Effect ? Effects a single ally, 2 MP. Irenu (イレーヌ) - Warp back to Hell, 0 MP. Sheru-ki (シェルキ) - Heal single ally, 7 MP. Sheru-su (シェルス) - Heal all allies, 13 MP. Smasher (スマッシャー) - Attack single enemy, 5 MP. Taki (ターキ) - Remove poison from single ally, 9 MP. Taki-All (ターキオール) - Remove poison from all allies, 15 MP. Hurricane (ハリケン) - Attack single enemy, 6 MP. Pinuddo (ピンウッド) - Escape from dungeon, 0 MP. Bowado (ボワード) - Attack single enemy, 7 MP. Megasmash (メガスマッシュ) - Attack single enemy, 15 MP. Megahurricane (メガハリケン) - Attack all enemies, 10 MP per enemy. Megabowado (メガボワード) - Attack all enemies, 22 MP per enemy. Rikkubowado (リックボワード) - Attack single enemy, ? MP. ====================================== ---= Creating Weapons, Armor, and Items =--- [sec2g] ====================================== The only way to get weapons and armor in this game is to use a Special Attribute that certain characters have when they start the game. To get a weapon, use a character that has the "Create Weapon" attribute (see the Special Attributes section for a list of characters). Similary, use a character with "Create Armor" to get armor, and "Create Item" to get items. You need "Jin", the currency in this game, to create these articles. You earn Jin by winning battles. Some characters cannot wear weapons or armor (except for the Azotto Sword, which you find later). These characters are: Gargoyle, Harpy, GSnake, Golem, ASphinx, Dragon Newt, and Slime. All other characters can equip any weapons and armor. ---Weapons--- [sec2g1] Here is a list of all weapons in the game. I list the Japanese name, English translation, cost in Jin to produce the weapon, and the attack power increase for equipping it. They are listed in the order in which they appear on the screen when you select the "Create Weapon" skill. (Azotto Sword) - NA, 250 Atk (not creatable) ---Armor--- [sec2g2] Here is a list of all armor in the game. You can return to Hell to restore your HP/MP and revive dead characters, but you can only do this once per day for each monster party. Surrounding Hell are 7 lithographs. Ultimately, you need to visit all 108 lithographs in order to finish the game, and it would be wise to keep track of which ones you've visited somehow. I have provided a map with all of the lithograph locations that should help with this, posted separately on gamefaqs. It will be difficult to wander very far from Hell at the beginning since your party is fairly weak. You won't be able to kill any enemies in one hit with your normal attack, but you can with your Special Skills or Magic, so you may like to use these abilities heavily. Special Skills are free to use, and your MP is replenished when your magic levels up, so you don't have to be conservative with using either of these. As soon as you are able, you will want to buy some armor to improve your defense. Crust Armor is a decent item to shoot for and Bandit Shields. However, only some of your characters are able to equip armor, so you will still want to primarily boost your defense by defending often during battle, which will give your defense statistics more experience. Buying weapons is mostly a waste of money, since you will be able to kill all of the enemies in one hit after a little bit of level building. Also, you will get the best weapon in the game very early, so don't go out of your way too much to buy weapons. During this level building period, you may like to attack some nearby enemy bases. The closest one is to the Southwest of Hell, behind some mountains. You can fly over the mountains by pressing "B" to change to flight mode. When you arrive at the base, a cutscene shows aliens surrounding the base. You are asked whether you would like to charge up to the base or not. Answer "yes" (イエス) and a battle will ensue. The enemies you fight are the same as those you have been fighting on the world map, and are randomly selected, so you may fight 1 or 8 enemies here. If you win, you will get an ID Part (IDパーツ). There are three other alien bases, which are located to the Northwest, Southeast, and Northeast of Hell. The one to the Northeast is located further beyond a Spaceship, which you will not be able to enter until you've assembled all 4 ID Parts. As you travel further East to the two bases in the Northeast and Southeast, the enemies will be a little stronger. When you've acquired all four ID Parts, they will combine to become a Card (カード). This will grant you access to the Spaceship, located Northeast from Hell. However, there is another building that you should visit first, located on an island Northeast from hell, in what looks like icy surroundings. This is the "Cold Sleep Room". =================== ---= Cold Sleep Room =--- [sec3b] =================== The Cold Sleep Room is a first-person perspective dungeon. It's small compared to the other dungeons in the game, but there are 3 places to visit while you're here. Use the map I provided, also posted on gamefaqs, to find the room labeled "Cold Sleep Room". It is a room full of machines the likes of which you've never seen before. You find a mummy that's grasping a book. If none of your party members has an intelligence (ちせい) stat of 20 or higher, then nobody can read. You must increase the intelligence of one of your characters to 20 by using items. Every time a character uses an item, its intelligence stat increases by one, even if you use it outside of battle. An easy way to increase this stat is to create 20 Gizoma Balls (ギゾマボール), which cost only 60 Jin, and have a single character use them all. Now that character is smart enough to read. Return to the Cold Sleep Room and now that character will try to read the book. It's a diary, from which the monsters understand the purpose of this room, to freeze a person's body so that they could later be unthawed. "These humans are such shallow creatures, to dream of being resurrected." Elsewhere in the Cold Sleep Room dungeon is some writing on the wall. It is a strange contraption created in the ancient times, but the use is unknown at this point. The final room to visit is the CD Room. Once again, you must have a character that can read. Here, you find a CD with a label that says, "History of Destruction", which will be entered into your inventory. You have now finished this area, and it is time to return to the Spaceship, located Northeast from Hell. You can cast Pinuddo (ピンウッド) to escape the dungeon (it costs 0 MP), and then cast Irenu (イレーヌ) to warp to Hell. ============= ---= Spaceship =--- [sec3c] ============= The enemies inside the Spaceship are a bit stronger than those you've seen, so hopefully you've level built enough so that you are able to handle them. On the first floor, simply make your way to the stairs. You might pass through Control Room 1 to get there, in which case you will have to open a passage by flipping a switch (just say "Yes" when prompted). On the second floor, make your way to Control Room 2. You will once again be prompted to press a switch. When you do, a siren goes off. A passage opens, and a giant alien attacks you. Boss: Guardian (ガーディアン) Like all bosses in this game, he can take several actions per turn (I think 8). He has about 1200 HP. In addition to damaging your characters, he can also poison them, which is better for you since poison has no in-battle effect. Use whatever attacks are most damaging at this point, of course. For me, this was generally my magic attacks. If any of your characters have very low HP, just have them defend so that they don't take any more damage, but they will continue to draw his attacks sometimes. When you manage to defeat the boss, he collapses to the ground. "He was a lot of trouble! Let's get out of here before more come." The sound of laughter is heard. "Hey! Look at the monitor!!" The image of an alien appears on a giant computer monitor in the room. He praises you for getting this far, but says that they are still one step ahead of you. They are in the Tower of Returning. He says, if you're interested in the cause of the downfall of mankind that you should go there as well and that he will deal with you when you arrive. His image disappears and your monster party gets angry. "I'd like to know what you taste like. I'll kill you all!" The angry monsters tear down the computer monitor. A passage suddenly appears. The monsters suspect a trap, but select "yes" anyway to enter the passage. Through the passageway you will eventually find the Garma Room. There is a book in the middle of the room, so once again you must have someone in your party that can read. The monsters are angry. "What's with these foolish human's? To think something is important that is so worthless." They take the book anyway. It's the Garma Book (ガルマノホン). With this, you are finished with the Spaceship. Cast Pinuddo to exit. The next major dungeon is the Tower of Returning. However, you will first want to visit the Basque Tree to try to get the best weapon in the game. =============== ---= Basque Tree =--- [sec3d] =============== The Basque Tree is located a bit Northeast of the Spaceship, surrounded by mountains. Hit "B" to enter flying mode, and go to the tree (you have to exit flying mode by pressing "B" again before you can enter). The Basque tree is surrounded by flames. A sword can clearly be seen sticking into its trunk. You might be able to remove the sword from the tree if your characters are at a high enough level. If not, then you can come back anytime later. The person at the front of your party will try to remove the sword. If he's successful, he says, "I'm overflowing with power. This sword has been waiting for me." The Azotto Sword (アゾットけん) is added to that character's inventory. Equip it and they now have the most powerful weapon in the game. Somewhat surprisingly, it turns out that you can repeat this process for all of your characters so that all have an Azotto Sword. To have a different character get the sword, change the order of characters in your party so that a different character is in front. They will then attempt to withdraw the sword. Eventually, you can have 12 Azotto Swords, one for each of your monster characters. =================== ---= 108 Lithographs =--- [sec3e] =================== Your next major obstacle is to enter the Tower of Returning, located on a small island in the Northeastern part of the world map. However, you will not be able to enter until you've accomplished two things. First of all, you need the Garma Book, which you should now have, and second of all, you need to visit all 108 lithographs on the world map. This is a very time consuming task, and it can be very frustrating because it is very easy to miss one and to have no idea where it is. So come up with a system to keep careful track of which lithographs you have visited, and also the total number that you have visited. I have provided a map of all of the lithograph locations posted on gamefaqs. Good luck! ====================== ---= Tower of Returning =--- [sec3f] ====================== When you visit the Tower of Returning, you hear a voice that seems to not be of this world. If you have not visited all 108 lithographs or you do not have the Garma book, the voice says you have not yet proven yourself. If you have accomplished these tasks, then you will be allowed to enter. Congratulations! I hope you didn't have as much trouble with the lithographs as I did. The Tower of Returning contains historical information about the downfall of mankind. For completing each floor, you will be rewarded by learning a little bit more about what happened to the humans. To complete a floor, you must first visit a Key Room, and also visit a room with writing on the wall. After visiting those two locations, you will be able to move onto the next floor. Floor 1: The Key Room is located in the center of the map. When you enter, you find a crystal ball. The dialogue says that, when you approach the crystal ball, the figure of a human suddenly appears floating in the ball. It asks you to present the Garma Book, so you place it under the crystal ball. Doing so causes text to rise to the surface of a blank page. Toward the Western end of the floor is some writing on the wall that you also must visit. After visiting this tile and the Key Room, make your way to the History Room, also located near the center of the map. During the cutscene, you are told about dinosaurs who once roamed the Earth, whose instincts were hunting and destruction. The main reason these creatures went extinct was because they slaughtered each other for the sake of slaughtering. Through fossils and such, mankind learned about the dinosaurs and their destructive tendencies, but failed to learn from their example. In face, humanity blatently turned their backs to it. After viewing the cutscene, head into the next room to go upstairs to the second floor. Floor 2: Complete the second floor by once again visiting the writing on the wall and the Key Room on this floor. Then head to the History Room. During the cutscene in the second floor history room, you hear about the story of Noah and the Ark. But it's very different from the version we are used to. Here, Noah is a very selfish man. God tells him to build an ark to save him from a coming flood. Noah builds the ark, but doesn't want anyone else to know about it, not even his family. He is upset when his family learns about it and wants to board the ark. "They just wanted to save themselves." He tried to stop them from boarding, but they came anyway. Also, some animals for food. As God said, the flood came and Noah was saved. Noah says he was saved because God chose a man of such great talent. Mankind descended from this absurd and selfish man. Floor 3: The 3rd floor history cutscene talks about Napoleon. It describes him as looking like a clown: short, tall-shoed, and a big hat. Above all, he hated anyone that was taller than him. It describes him as being driven by shame to find fault in other parties. But it is not his fault, it is his genetics as a human being. Floor 4: The fourth floor history cutscene deals with Hitler. It says that he understood that true evolution requires conflict as a byproduct. War is the most efficient way to make superior humans. War also results in the growth of science. Humans were proud of their scientific achievements and believed that nature would bow down to their power. But in reality, science was not a cure-all. In fact, it brought about the destruction of mankind even sooner. Floor 5: The fifth floor history cutscene describes the year 1999, when the demons came to invade the human race. No one predicted such a thing could happen, but everyone guessed that it was their reward for their destructive tendencies. A monster says, "Absurd! You say we destroyed mankind! It was we who were forced to retreat underground." Another monster says, "This tower is strange. It's almost as if we were expected. Aren't you interested in finding out what's at the top?" The history lesson finishes by saying, no, mankind was not destroyed. Floor 6: When you enter the sixth floor history room, you will engage an alien in battle. Boss: Hanking Worker (ハンキングワーカ) This fight is essentially the same as the first boss battle, only he has more HP (around 2200 HP), and stronger attacks. He can also poison your characters, and gets 8 attacks per turn. The history room cutscene explains that humans have used their imaginations during all eras. Of these imaginative creations was that of God and demons. In order to wipe out the demons that the humans feared, they created a terrifying weapon that could reduce the surface of the Earth to ashes. They revered that weapon as if it were a god. The long awaited end of the war between God and the demons was finally ended when this weapon was released on the Earth. Your monster party reacts to this story: "What the heck?! What are these crazy things you're saying? We were created by human imagination? We were created just to be destroyed by God! What a stupid thing to say. Then how are we here living now?" Human civilization ended by their own hand when they released this weapon on the Earth. Floor 7: The floor seven history cutscene begins with the room going dark. A voice could be heard from somewhere. "With this the history of humanity has ended. One floor above this one is the true enemy who caused mankind's destruction. A bright light appears and a voice could be heard from the other side of the light. "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. All living things are fated to die. Humanity was no exception. The source of destruction is evolution. After becoming too smart, one will inevitably be annihilated. This is why it was important for you to recognize this course, to prevent you from moving toward it. You demons didn't cause the destruction of mankind. It was the evil within their hearts. Mankind forgot this tower long ago. Now, head to the true world. See the true surface of the Earth with your own eyes and begin a new journey. Do not repeat the same mistakes as humankind. The light disappeared and ground could be seen spreading far into the distance. "Where are we!?" "It's the true surface of the Earth." "If we think this is the Earth's surface, then the previous world was underground." "That Tower of Returning was an elevator connecting the world above to the world below." "What have we been fighting for up until now?!!" In front of the group, a stone monolith stood towering over. Written on the monolith: "This star has surrendered to the Chirius". "The Earth's surface is already occupied by an army!" "They know about our existence." "They came underground just to start a war with us?!" ====================== ---= Lithograph Factory =--- [sec3g] ====================== There is now a completely new world map to explore. First, head East and a bit North to find the Lithograph Factory, another first-person perspective dungeon. "No Trespassing" is written on the entrance, but the door is ajar, so say "yes" to enter. In the Northwest area of the dungeon you can find the Warp Machine (ワープマシン). This item allows you to instantly warp back and forth between the overworld and the underworld. There are two rooms to visit on the second floor of the factory. First, in the Southeast area, is the Lithograph Manufacturing Room. When you enter, the character that can read in your party will pick up a piece of paper to read. You learn that the humans knew their end was coming and created the lithographs to help guide you to the Earth's surface. In the Western area of the second floor, you will find the 109th Lithograph. It says that the only place where humans still exist is the Fantasy Land. One can only enter if they have the seeds of the human spirit that were long ago left behind. Your monsters react: "Humans yet live!? Let's go to the Fantasy Land and see." You are finished with the Lithograph Factory, so cast Pinuddo to return to the world map. ================================= ---= The Seeds of the Human Spirit =--- [sec3h] ================================= Fantasy Land is in the Northwestern area of the world map. If you try to enter it now you won't be allowed in because the "emotions sensor" doesn't sense emotion within you. So, you must first explore the destroyed human civilization and gain some understanding of the beautiful emotions in the human spirit. What this means is that you must visit various locations throughout the world map and there will be an item for each monster character in your party which produces a feeling of sympathy and love for the humans. For example, in the Church, you can find a statue of a mother and child which the Harpy finds extremely beautiful and she begins to understand what it means to love. There is one item like this for each character, and in order to enter Fantasy Land, you must find these items for each character. The annoying thing is that you have to have the character in your current party. So if you have the Goblin party summoned, and you find an item for someone in the Ork party, then you have to wait for a day/night change before you can get the item. Even worse, if you want to find an item for Golem, ASphinx, Dragon Newt, or Slime, you have to wait until the last day of the month for that party to be summoned. You will really want to get all four items for this party before the last day of the month ends, because it is torcher to wait for a whole other month for them to be summoned again (but if this happens to you, you are not alone, I also had to wait through this). Good luck. You will know that you have the correct party summoned because there will be a cutscene shown for each item. The locations to visit and items to find are described below, using the following notation: Location - Item - Character who gets emotional over it (party that character is in) For example: Statue - 1F NW corner - Harpy (Ork party) ---Church--- The Church is located right next to the Lithograph Factory. The items you can find are: 1F SE corner - Broken Wall - GSnake (Ork party) Note: Item looks a lot like background rubble. 1F NW corner - Statue - Harpy (Ork party) 2F SW corner - Gargoyle Statuette - Gargoyle (Goblin party) Note: Looks a lot like background rubble, near the stairs. 3F NE corner - Bell - Skeleton (Goblin party) The stairs going up to the next floor are in the following locations: 1F - NE corner 2F - SW corner ---Department Store--- The Department Store is located in the Southwestern portion of the world map. The items you can find are: 2F SW corner - Clay Doll - Golem (Golem party) 4F East of stairs down - Photo Album - Cyclops (Goblin party) 6F SW corner - Magazine - ASphinx (Golem party) The stairs going up to the next floor are in the following locations: 1F - NE corner 2F - NW corner 3F - SW corner 4F - NE corner 5F - SW corner 6F - NE corner 7F - SE corner ---Hospital--- The Hospital is located Northwest from the Tower of Returning. The items you can find are: 2F SE corner - Bottle - Minotauros (Ork party) 3F NW corner - Book Page - Slime (Golem party) 4F SW corner - Book - Goblin (Goblin party) 5F NW corner - Picture - Ork (Ork party) The stairs going up to the next floor are in the following locations: 1F - NW corner 2F - SW corner 3F - NE corner 4F - SE corner ---Police Station--- The Police Station is right next to the Hospital. It only has one item for the Golem party. The items you can find are: 5F NW corner - Pages - Dragon Newt (Golem party) The stairs going up to the next floor are in the following locations: 1F - NE corner 2F - SE corner 3F - NW corner 4F - SW corner ================ ---= Fantasy Land =--- [sec3i] ================ If you have found all of the items listed above with the correct characters in each party, then your party is now sympathetic enough toward humans that you will be allowed inside Fantasy Land, which is located in the Northwestern part of the world map. Near the entrance are buildings. They are all the same inside. They appear to be stores, but they have nothing to sell at this time, so they say. So head toward the Northeastern party of Fantasy Land and you will see a castle. As you approach the castle, a cutscene is shown. Humans dressed in armor and wielding weapons block your path. "Return the princess!" they say. "Stop, we are not your enemies!" your party replies. The humans attack anyway, and you are forced to crush them. The rubble scattered at your feet shows that the "humans" were actually robots. Continue on into the castle. On the first floor of the castle, seek the King's Room. When you enter it, the king requests that you rescue his daughter who was kidnapped by the devil. Your party says, "Unfortunately, we are the devil's messengers." He says, "I will offer you 100 gold." One of your party yells, "Shut up, robot!" and decapitates the king, who was a robot, as suspected. Your party says, "Somebody in this castle was controlling this thing. Let's go find them." On the second floor of the castle, make your way to the Computer Room. There, you find a giant computer, which begins to speak. It is annoyed that you destroyed its robots, but it explains the reason for its existence. He says that humans created this "dream world" that he is controlling, which is meant to contain some features of human civilization that the humans cherished. The monsters, angry at the implication that this is a dream, attack the computer, and a boss fight commences. Boss: Computer (コンピュータ) This boss fight is no different than the others, except that he likes to put your characters to sleep, which is pretty annoying. He has about 4000 HP. When you win, the computer begs to know why you're attacking it, and your monsters say to defend their pride. The computer says that you are just like the humans of old times, which offends the monsters a bit. It says that it was told by humans long ago that if someone appeared that reminded it of humans, to send them to the Control Tower. It ejects a piece of paper just before it shuts down for good with a password on it that will allow you to enter the tower (you don't need to write the password down). ================= ---= Control Tower =--- [sec3j] ================= Head to the big island in the Northeast of the world map to find the Control Tower. You will be allowed in now that you know the password. Make your way to the fourth floor, where you will come across the final boss fight. Boss: Shadow (シャドウ) This boss fight is similar to the others as well, however he has a very high attack power, so if your characters don't have very good armor, he might do some serious damage to them, even if their levels are pretty high. If you made it this far though, it's probably nothing you can't handle. He has about 5000 HP and also likes to put your characters to sleep. ========== ---= Ending =--- [sec3k] ========== The room goes dark and your monster party can't see anything. When they can finally see again, they find that their bodies have transformed. They have human male and female bodies! They see a streak of light, which turns into an orb, witnessing the birth of a new planet. A voice is heard behind them. They turn to look and see an alien. It explains that at the time of the destruction of the human race, the humans had lost touch with their emotions, and that you have participated in a project that was created to help recall those lost emotions, and to help the monsters understand what evils befell the previous human civilization. You are "reborn" on the new planet's surface. The monsters, now human, are awed by the beauty of their surroundings and decide to name this new planet Earth. Earth's new history now begins... - - - = = = ================== = = = - - - - - - = = = === Conclusion === = = = - - - - - - = = = ================== = = = - - - I hope you found this guide useful.
