What's New -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Version 1.0 (1/22/10): The first version. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 2. Introduction -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Hit Marmot is another concoction by Mega Soft, which makes use of the Zapper peripheral. The game is basically a Whack-A-Mole clone, where you choose the game mode and shoot "rats" that pop out of holes on the game board. It is just like any typical shooter game that utilizes the NES Zapper; if you have played Duck Hunt, you already know what to expect here. This game is a bit more fast-paced though, which certainly adds to the difficulty level in later levels. It may be worth checking out if you are a fan of light gun games. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 3. Controls -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Select (Control Pad): Choose game mode Trigger (Zapper): Select game mode, shoot at target on screen ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 4. Overview -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ========== Game Modes ========== First Screen ------------ Normal (One Rat): In this mode, you play the standard game where you shoot the rats, one at a time, as they emerge from one of nine holes on the game board. Normal (Two Rats): Same as the first Normal mode, but with two rats coming out of the holes at a time. Advance (One Rat): Here you play the usual game, but this time around some rats will emerge from their holes waving white flags. If you shoot those rats, you will LOSE a hit from your total! Advance (Two Rats): Same as the first Advance mode, but with two rats coming out of the holes at a time. Second Screen ------------- Once you pick your initial game mode, you will be able to pick the type of game you want to play, as detailed below. Cooperation Mode: One or two players can play together to clear the stages. Two Players Mode: Each player takes turns (Player 1 plays the stage, then Player 2 goes). Machine Gun Mode: In this mode, you get 99 rounds, and your Zapper acts as a machine gun if you hold the trigger down. Be careful since you can quickly run out of ammo this way! ================ General Gameplay ================ Gameplay -------- For each stage, you will see a panel at the top with information on it. It includes: Pass: How many Rats you must hit in the round to go on to the next Ammo: How much ammunition you have remaining (number next to the bullet) Hit: How many Rats you've hit thus far Rats: How many Rats that have yet to appear in the holes Score: Your tallied score thus far In all modes of play, your objective is to shoot at least the amount of Rats as specified by the number next to "Pass". On stages with a multiple of 5, the Pass number goes up (initially it is at 6; at Stage 5, it goes to 8; at Stage 10, it goes to 10, and so on). If you run out of ammunition and/or no Rats are remaining before you breach the Pass limit, you lose. The game continue on for as many rounds as you want to play, but of course as you go on, the minimum Pass limit will continue to rise. You will know if you hit a Rat because the game will pause briefly, showing the animation of it being hit. At the end of the round, your score will be tallied and you will go on to the next stage, assuming you reached the Pass amount. Scoring ------- Each Rat you hit earns you 1000 points. At the end of a stage, you get 400 points for each round of ammunition you have remaining. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 5.
