------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- [ FAMILY CIRCUIT FAQ ] -------------------------- --------------------------------[by Ice Queen Zero]---------------------------- --------------------------[ Nintendo Entertainment System ]-------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o---------------------o INTRODUCTION o---------------------o Here's another Japanese exclusive game I decided to sit down and do an FAQ for. The name of the game is Family Circuit. Unlike its sequel Family Circuit '91, this game is laced with Japanese as its sequel which was laced with English and it too was Japanese-exclusive. No worries as little ol' Andrea Castillo is here to add another game to the list of games completed as part of NES Completion Project. As of this FAQ, we are now down to under 300 FAQs left and this one would be the 6th FAQ I've thrown in. o---------------------o DISCLAIMER o---------------------o Family Circuit is a trademark of Namcot (Namco) and they own all copyrights. This FAQ is the sole copyright of Andrea "Azul Fria" Castillo aka Ice Queen Zero (or the Zophar Queen if you prefer) and cannot be put on other sites or posted without my given permission nor can it be reproduced w/o proper consent. For more guides by myself visit this link: http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/74803.html o--------------------o STORY o--------------------o Family Circuit is a racing game created by Namcot (the name Namco temporarily used for their home console releases.) Despite its name, it is only a 1-player game. It's just called that because Family refers to the Fami in Famicon which is short for Family. If it had came out in the US it would probably be called NES Circuit instead. Now in this game, you are racing against other cars in a series of Grand Prix races. o--------------------o CONTROLS o--------------------o Start button = start game/pause/choose option Select button = toggle modes/characters (name entry screen)/retire/race menu A button = accelerate/choose option B button = delete character and go back D-pad = steer left or right (left/right), move up/down through options. o---------------------o OPTIONS o---------------------o When you first press start you will greeted with this screen Select Shite Kudasai (Select Mode Please) Setting Free Soukou (Free Practice) Sprint Race Taikyuu Race (Endurance Race) Kansan (Watch/Inactivity) o---------------------o COLORS o---------------------o There are 26 sets of colors with each letter of the alphabet they are matched by: Wheel, Outer Trim, Inner Trim Color A: Black, Red, Black Color B: Black, Green, White Color C: Black, Black, Grey Color D: Black, Black, White Color E: Black, Red, Pink Color F: Black, Red, Grey Color G: Black, White, Pink Color H: Black, Blue, Orange Color I: Black, Orange, White Color J: Black, Blue, Light Blue Color K: Black, Red, Orange Color L: Black, Red, Light Blue Color M: Black, Black, Orange Color N: Black, Green, Light Green Color O: Black, White, Blue Color P: Black, Red, White Color Q: Black, Orange, Light Green Color R: Black, Orange, Black Color S: Black, Blue, White Color T: Black, Dark Blue, White Color U: Black, White, Light Green Color V: Black, Pink, White Color W: Blue, Orange, White Color X: Black, Light Blue, White Color Y: Black, Light Blue, Orange Color Z: Black, White, Red o---------------------o DRIVERS o---------------------o Novice ------ Rally X Teradji Flossa W. B Type J Type M Type F Type L Type S Type Next you select what color you want to use from the list I made above. Then it says "Choose setting please." on the top. Then it shows you the car and color you chose then below it it says "Turbo Boost atsu(effectiveness)" and you see four options below. Takai (high) Yayatakai (a little high) Futsuu (average) Hikui (low) ---- Next you choose your type of gear Kasokujushi (Acceleration resin) Up Arrow Down Arrow Saikousokujushi (Infarction resin) ---- Next is Engine Breaking type Kikanai (aggresive) Futsuu (average) Kiku (effective) Tsuyokukiku (strongly effective) ---- Then its handling Karui (light) Yayakarui (a little light) Futsuu (average) Omoi (heavy) *Thank goodness I'm a fan of Naruto so I knew the meaning of those. JAJA! ---- Next is the Breaking Tsuyokukiku (Strongly effective) Kiku (effective) Futsuu (average) Kikanai (aggressive) ---- Last but not least is Tire quality. Hi Grip Up Arrow Down Arrow Long Life ----- From there it says "Anata no Machine" (Your machine) and gives you a code to input before racing. o---------------------o RACING o---------------------o It is important to know that races are won and lost depending on your car's settings. You can leave everything average and it will go slow no matter what you do or it can go out of control and you end up crashing and forfeit the race in session. There are two races: Sprint Race and Endurance Race. There is also free practice which you can test your cars mechanics. In Sprint Mode you are given two practice runs. Take the time to make any small or big adjustments if necessary for the real race. The second practice is to determine your pole position at the start. From there you must complete a set number of laps to finish the race. Pressing select foreits the race. In Endurance Mode there is no laps, its a matter of being the first to complete 1000 yards of travel. A long the way, you will be making pit stops so be sure to make them count. Pressing select foreits the match if you are not in a pit stop. In Sprint or Endurance mode, you'll forfeit the race if you crash. Press the Select button to end practice. Doing so brings up this menu Pit Auto (pit stop) Condition (tells you what's broken) -Wing -Tire -Pension -Break -Radiator -Engine -Turbo -Denki Kei (electic light) -Transmission -Gasoline Zanryou(Milage) Setting (redo your settings) Jushi (tells you the quality of your parts) N.G. = No good and OK = OK -If it says N.G. You can press a button to replace it -Gas Milage is a matter of replenishing. Free Practice exit (return to title screen)/Skip Practice (Go to race) o---------------------o WATCH o---------------------o You choose which of the cars you want to see race then you chose the track. There are two more options: Okkake Mode (Direct Watch Mode) - Choose which car you want to watch race Jukuri Mode (Camera Mode) - Take a look at all the track and ignore the cars if you prefer. This is a good way to see how every track is designed. Press the select button at any time to return to the title screen. o---------------------o CREDITS o---------------------o God almighty for he created everything you see before us.
