WWF No Mercy Character Move FAQ V3.2 Compiled by Onslaught Six for GameFAQs Last Updated 11/08/04 Dedicated to Jessi Table of Contents: 1. Introduction ("I") 2. The Moves ("M") 3. Updates ("U") 4. Credits ("C") 5. O6's Contact Info ("CI") You can press Ctrl+F to bring up your Find box. After the section header there is the code which you can use to jump to different areas of the guide. The code is listed in parathesis above. Introduction -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Ctrl+F code: "I") This is an FAQ for a good lot of the moves in No Mercy that, to put it quite right, don't really belong there. For those uninformed, AKI (the company that coded the engine and most of the game) made a bunch of wrestling games prior to No Mercy and Wrestlemania 2000, including two games for WCW and Virtural Pro Wrestling 2 in Japan. When they released No Mercy, they left a huge ton of the move animations from those games in there--that's what all those moves like the Burning Hammer and Scoop Reverse DDT are from, and stuff, for all you WWF-only people. This FAQ is designed for the purpose of identifying these moves and the original character that they were created for, mainly for the purpose of the CAW mode. Together with the face guide also found on GameFAQs and some pics from Google or something, you can make some pretty damn accurate Japanese wrestlers to face off with the likes of the Rock 'n' Sock or feud with Vince McMahon. Some moves were given to different people throughout the AKI games (some people had different finishers between VPW64 and VPW2, for example) and their old finisher was reused later for somebody else. These will be listed under both names. I'm also now attempting to get a bunch of trademark moves too, and the real-life names of the moves. Feel free to contribute any of this info, if you have it. [10/4] - I'd just like to note that no matter who I've got a move listed under, you shouldn't be discouraged against using it for somebody else. For example, the Full Nelson Suplex Pin is attributed to Fujinami and Benoit, but that's no reason not to give it to Toshiaki Kawada as a back grapple. If you have anything you would like to add or correct in the guide, please see my contact info at the bottom of the FAQ. The Moves -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Ctrl+F Code: "M") Moves are listed by the type of move (Front Grapple, Turnbuckle, etc.) and then by game order (which, for the most part, is alphebetical.) The format is as follows: [No Mercy Move Name] - [Character who uses it](Real Move Name) If the move is named correctly in No Mercy, the real move name will not appear. (Also applies if I don't know the real move name, submissions are welcome.) Also, here is a short key to help with certain symbols to indicate things: / - This indicates that the move may not have been animated particularly for that person, however, it's in one of their movesets spanning the AKI games, and they may or may not have used the move in real life at different points, but I do not believe it was actually made for them. A lot of times, it only applies to a 'filler' move (like Kobashi's Stalling Brainbuster.) # - Indicates that a Puroresu wrestler was given this move when they were portrayed as a fictional character in WCW/nWo World Tour or Revenge (such as Kenta Kobashi being The Executioner in Revenge) but they haven't actually done this move or been given it in any of the AKI games, and I haven't been able to find an origin for the move. [] - This is used after a name, with a second name there. This is used when you've got somebody like X-Pac. He appears in WM2K/NM as X-Pac, but in World Tour, he was Syxx (as he was in WCW), and thusly had some of the same moves X-Pac did, so I've listed him as X-Pac [Syxx]. However, this only applies to a move that both versions of that wrestler's persona performed, which is why I don't list both Muta and Mutoh for the Poison Mist. @ - Indicates that a striking attack was given to a wrestler, but as an Irish Whip or Turnbuckle attack. $ - Indicates that a striking attack was given to a wrestler, but as a combo attack in VPW2/Revenge's shoot fight system. It happened in a match between Kawada and Misawa where Kawada ended up breaking his forearm. It was meant to have Kawada do a 'bomb, then Misawa would reverse into a Rana, which Kawada would stop and lift up and continue the bomb, but he didn't have the strength, so he dropped Misawa on his head. The term 'Ganso' means 'original' in Japanese, and is derived from the first Powerbomb that Lou Thesz did when he botched a Piledriver. Kawada did use the move against Mutoh in 2002, but it was more refined. I listed it as the common Ganso Bomb for easy identification. (suicidal madmaster sez: "The move that Kawada uses is best described as the 'Vertical Sheerdrop Kneeling Powerbomb.'") **It wasn't really animated for *any* of these guys as far as I can tell, but it's listed anyway. The reason it only goes for the non-special submission move is because there weren't special submissions until No Mercy. (An' it's not Taue.) -Giant Baba has the Hip Press. -D-Von Dudley has the Cyclone Forearm, nobody else. -There's that big list of striking counters that needs confirmed. :) (Most of these are done, but there's Malenko having the ankle lock.) And this one is so messed up that I've devoted a paragraph to it. Jump Round Dropkick 01 and 02 look incredibly similar--but if your eye is good enough, you can see very subtle variations in the animation (02 goes a little higher, etc.) However, at a glance, they're identical, except that 02 KOs (which makes it the most likely to be Inoki's Enzuigiri.) However, I'm sure that 01 belongs to another person entirely. Can somebody offer help? So yeah, keep the emails and posts and stuff coming, guys! I can always use more move names, confirmations, and extra moves. Even if it's just adding on to an existing move bit (like Misawa and Eddie both using the Frog Splash), I want that info, 'cuz every little bit helps. Updates -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Ctrl+F Code: "U") 3.2 - 11/08/04 - More stuff, thanks BABBOO. 3.1 - 11/03/04 - Corrected a few things, thanks to madmaster, TheIcon and a big, fat-ass VPW2 front grapple guide from SWEET BABBOO. Also tossed in a redid credits section, and a little dedication at the top. 3.0 - 10/23/04 - Redid a large portion of the guide. Also added a big batch of moves. I swear, I get closer to listing every move in the game with every update. I really hope I do list them all one day. 2.3 - 10/04/04 - Added and corrected a few things. 2.2 - 8/10/04 - Added some more stuff, and thanks to EvilWays for help. 2.1 - Added some stuff, thanks to Bratislav...Again. 2.0 - Did away with most of the asterix notes, added and corrected a few things and generally did work. 1.6 - Redid the guide to be easier to read. Added some more moves and names. 1.5 - Completely eliminated confirmations, thanks to Bratislav. You d'man. Also added Stan Hansen's clotheslines. 1.4 - Added some more moves and confirmations thanks to suicidal madmaster. 1.3 - 06/05/04 - Added a few more things from some old emails (Gedo's things, Six Seconds Magic) and corrected a few spelling errors. 1.25 - 06/02/04 - Corrected a few errors and confirmed a few things (Flowing DDT is Raven's Evenflow DDT, Kenta Kobashi's Jacknife Powerbomb is his front grapple, not his Powerbomb to Turnbuckle, etc.) 1.2 - 06/01/04 - Added a few more moves, added some real names for moves, changed a few things around, added asterix-notes. 1.1 - 04/07/04 - Added a bunch more moves curteousy of Bratislav, cleaned up in general. 1.0 - 03/23/04 - Started the guide. Credits -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Ctrl+F Code: "C") Me, Onslaught Six - Having the idea for the guide. AKI Corporation - Making this awesome game, and leaving in all these extra moves, without which the guide wouldn't exist. THQ - Publishing this awesome game. suicidal madmaster - A bunch of moves and confirmations. You rock, dude. The Xterminator - Pointing out that the Spinning Falcon Arrow is Hayabusa's finisher. The Kamikaze - A bunch of other moves, and some confirmations. wolf - Telling me that the Six Seconds Magic is Rumina Sato's front special move. GenerationOmega - A bunch of miscellaneous VPW64 stuff. EvilWays - More Kobashi Double-Arm DDT info and Powerbomb Pin 06. Burning Lariat - No real reason, besides being a big Puro buff :P TheIcon1120 - A bunch of little confirmations and contributions here and there. Just help in general. People I Forgot - Whatever you contributed that I forgot. BIG ****IN' THANKS to SWEET BABBOO. The man gave me easily half the moves in the guide, probably more, and confirmed a bunch of Stuff. There is no amount of words to really express my gratitude to this guy for all the help he's done. Big-ass props to Bratislav Metulskie, who was the first contributor I had and basically gave me the stuff to start with. It all started with wanting to know where 'some of those bad-ass extra moves' came from, man. :P This FAQ is copyrighted 'n' stuff by Nick Symosky (That's mah name, yo!) O6's Contact Info -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Ctrl+F Code: "CI") You can reach me via email at mew007_x@hotmail.com (Make sure to put something like "No Mercy Move FAQ" in the subject, or I'll consider it spam and delete it.) You can also find me hanging around the GameFAQs No Mercy board pretty much all the time, and if I'm not there, I'm at the No Mercy Zone. Usually I'll have a GameFAQs topic open just after an update for new comments and stuff.
