Making a FAQ is hard work. This is probably only 10K too. I can't imagine what it's like for the people who make 800 some. ----------------- -Version 0.2 ----------------- --11/26/1999-- -Updated Town Map -Added Other MoneyMakers To Walkthrough -Made Some Minor Corrections ----------------- -Version 0.3 ----------------- --11/28/1999-- -Updated Tools (Thanks to Razer107 for the info) -Updated Credits -More Minor Corrections ----------------- -Version 0.4 ----------------- --12/06/1999-- - I didn't really make any updates this time. The only major thing is that I changed my name (I needed a less general alias) - Updated Characters - Updated Credits ----------------- -Version 0.5 ----------------- --12/20/1999-- -Changed my E-mail address ----------------- -Version 1.0 ----------------- --12/30/1999-- Sorry it took so long to update. I just got the game a few days ago, had to recopy some of this FAQ, and I thought it would be more useful if I beat the game first. I finished with the basics, now to the walkthrough. I will put the people who helped with this in the credits next update because people were nagging me to do it quickly. BTW, where else does it sat Braves@witty.com on this FAQ. For some reason I've had 85 E-mails on that address and only 15 on the one I changed it too. -Updated Controls Section -Updated Tools Section -Updated Other Expenses Section -Deleted Characters Section (It was useless) -Added Recipes Section -Added Dating Section -Added Power Apples Section -Added Album Section -Added a FAQ Section -Fixed some pre-game mistakes (Happy Pyrowl) Send me others if you find them. ----------------- -Version 1.1 ----------------- --01/09/2000-- It feels weird to write all of those zeros. Happy New Year. This isn't a big update, I just had to add some information I found. I added the second year and part of the third year schedule. -Updated Tools Section -Updated Other Expenses Section -Updated Recipes Section -Updated Album Section -Updated Power Berries Section -Updated Credits ----------------- Introduction ----------------- This is my first FAQ ever so be patient with me. E-mail me telling me how my FAQ is and how I can improve it. Any suggestions would be useful. Make sure to label the subject Harvest Moon Comments(Which no one does). I decided to do my first FAQ on Harvest Moon because it is the first game I'll be getting next and I expect it to be really fun. I will fill in what I found out and what was the best for me as I go along. Enjoy. ----------------- Table Of Contents: ----------------- 1) Introduction 2) Story 3) Controls 4) Tools 5) Other Expenses 6) Basic Strategy 7) Town Map 8) Walkthrough -1st year -Spring -Summer -Fall -Winter -2nd year -Spring -Summer -Fall -Winter 9) Dating 10) Recipes 11) Power Apples 12) Album 13) FAQ 14) Credits 15) Copyright ----------------- Story ----------------- There's not much of a story here. AXE- Use this to chop up the stumps in your way. It takes 6 hits. HOE- Use this tool to break up the soil before planting. Clears one space SICKLE- Use this to cut weeds. It also cuts grass for livestock. Clears one space WATERING CAN- Used for watering crops. Waters one space. --2nd Level-- SILVER HAMMER- Breaks up rocks in 2 hits SILVER AXE- Breaks up stumps in 2 hits SILVER HOE- Tills 3 squares SILVER SICKLE- Cuts 3 squares SILVER WATERING CAN- Waters 3 squares --3rd Level-- GOLDEN HAMMER- Same as the basic hammer except big rocks now only take 1 hit. Move the rocks to different locations, break them up with your mallet or dump them in the water. Pull the weeds from anywhere that you're putting your crops and chop up any stumps with your axe. Not only does this clear the land but it also gives you extra wood. 2) Till the ground in a three-by-three square with your hoe. Then stand in the middle square and throw you seeds. They will cover the square. Make sure to water the plants every day after that except on rainy days. 3) Make sure you place your farming area near the collection bin so that you don't waste time carrying your crops as far during harvests. 4) Use your tools often as they will upgrade into better tools once you get good enough with them. -ANIMALS 1) Take good care of your cows. The better you do the more money the milk will be worth. 2) Make sure to keep your animals healthy. Don't let them stay out in the rain. If they get sick buy them medicine. 3) It's less expensive to breed the animals then it is to buy them. This works for all animals. 4) Sheep and chicken will also earn you money so it's a good idea to have them. Sheep will get you more money but less often while chickens will only give you a small amount but you will get money from it everyday. 5) Treat your horse with love and care. Eventually, it will be able to haul your harvest to the bin. You'll even be able to race on it. -OTHER 1) Always lend a hand if someone asks you to help 2) Don't save the game a day before a festival in case you get sick. If you feel you need to, then don't do anything the day before. 3) Get a greenhouse and kitchen before anything else. Especially the stairs. They're useless. ----------------- Town Map ----------------- I'm sorry that this map isn't very detailed but it should get the point across. I now have details about the places that are not in the town, but they are not yet on the map. The box represents the town and the letters represent the buildings, which I'll go into more detail below. ______________________________ | | | B C D | | | | | | A E F | | | | H I J | | G | |____________________________| Town Map A) TOWN SQUARE- This is where most of the festivals and activities take place. I will try to add a lot more later. The hearts that show up in the text box of the girl you're talking to show how interested she is in you. White= Indifferent, Blue= Friendly, Green= Flirtatious, Yellow= Enamored, Red= Truly in Love. It's best to wait until she has a red heart and you have some things added on to your house. Don't wait too long though or she might get married to someone else. I didn't marry until the beginning of the 2nd summer, so you can wait until then. Try not to miss any days because special things can happen on some days. For example, one day Karen was sick and her mom asked me to visit her. You don't want to miss it, because it's the only chance you'll get to see her room. I think that that happened a day or too after the first new year's. There were other incidents like the wine machine room incident, but I don't want to spoil too much. The bad thing about getting married was that she sometimes tried to help pack the eggs (The only thing she helps with) and most of the time she ends up ! breaking them. Karen- (I know Karen the best because she was the one I married, I'll try to find out about the others when I get a chance.) Likes berries mainly. The berries are found in Spring and Autumn. Give her one everyday. Save up 8 berries in your rucksack over the 1st Spring to give her over Summer and try to get a kitchen by the middle of Autumn to store berries to give her over winter. I found her at the vineyard, in front of the carpenter's house, at the beach, and at the inn at night. Ann- Likes corn. It said she also likes furry creatures but it doesn't seem like it. I've found her at the ranch and at the little pond in the woods. Maria- Likes it when people come into the library. I've found her at the church, in the woods, and in the library. She's probably at her house sometimes too, but I've only gone there a couple of times. Elli- Likes eggs and milk. She also like when you buy from her bakery. I found her in the bakery, and in the woods. Popuri- Likes flowers. I've found her in the flower shop, outside the flower shop, and in the woods. ----------------- Recipes ----------------- Don't know what they do, but here are the ones I've found. E-mail me if you know more. Tomato Rice- Give a tomato to Karen's mom Eggplant with MisoPaste- Give an eggplant to the midwife Mushroom Rice- Give a regular mushroom to the carpenter Steamed Clams with Wine- Give wild grapes (Found in Autumn) to Karen's Dad Sesame Dandelion Greens- Give the souvenir shop owner a medicinal plant Bread Pudding- Give an egg or milk to Elli Veryberry Wine- Give the vineyard worker a verryberry fruit (Found in Spring) Miso Soup- Give an edible herb to the Potion Shop owner Strawberry Dog- Give some strawberries to the little boy with black hair named Stu Corn Fritters- Give corn to Ann's dad Stuffed Omelet- Give an egg to Ann's brother Fried Char- Give a big, blue fish to the fisherman Strawberry Champagne- Give a strawberry to Karen Rolled Cabbage- Give a cabbage to Maria Herb Rice Cake- Give an edible herb to the old woman on Mt. Moon Potato Pancakes- Give a potato to the little girl named May Simple Tomato Soup- Give tomatoes to the priest Twice Cooked Tomatoes and Greens- Give a tomato to the Florist lady name Lilia Hunter's Tea- Give an egg to the guy with the hawk ----------------- Power Berries ----------------- These are the berries that you'll see if you look on the the tree picture in the kitchen. They give you more strength and stamina. E-mail me if you know more. --RED BERRIES-- -Dig with your hoe near the doghouse -Buy one from the salesman at the Flower Festival -Win one at the Egg Festival -When the pond is frozen in Winter, cross it and break a boulder with your hammer. -Throw a large fish into the pond next to the Fisherman's tent -If you go to the goddess on a day when you haven't done anything at all to tire yourself, and then you wish for strength, she'll give you one. -Dig one up in the 3rd level of the mine -Give a marble to the elves --BLUE BERRIES-- -Throw a small fish into the pond next to the Fisherman's tent ----------------- Album ----------------- This section will tell how to get all the pictures that are in your album. Picture of you and your baby- Have a baby ----------------- FAQ ----------------- This is where I'll answer some of your questions. I'll only put questions up here if I get at least 2 of the same question. Q: Where is the beach? A: Go down as soon as you enter Green Ranch Q: How do I cook? A: I don't think you can Q: How do I get married? A: Buy a blue feather at Rick's Shop and then give it to her. You'll be married the next Sunday. Q: What are recipes for? A: You get graded on how many you have at the beginning of Spring of the 2nd year. Q: The best farming pattern is _____ A: I don't care. I think the 3x3 square is because you get the same # of crops if you do the C pattern. At the end of the season you can always cut your old vegetables to get to that middle one. What if a storm comes through and takes out a couple. You'll still have that extra crop to fall back on. ----------------- Credits ----------------- Send me E-mail at Niveau@2-cool.com with any information on this game and I will be sure to put you on here. E-mail me power apples, recipes, and album pictures. Aceohearts- Told me a lot of the recipes. Razer107- Told me the names and the uses of the tools. StampedeCatcher8- Pointed out that you get to choose the character's name.
