The N64 game was released for 7,128 yen (after tax) which was reasonably high for an odd game on a dying system. The story concerns a young pure hearted protagonist who is able to talk to hamsters. Naturally. Clearly the concept is a bit of a ripp-off of the manga and anime Hamtaro which was first published in 1997. Several games were also made of Hamtaro, which probably sold better than this effort. By 2002, the Hamtaro franchise had generated $2.5 billion in merchandise sales. The latest release in the Hamtaro franchise was an anime series that ended in 2013. The series was popular around the world and still resonates today. Back of the box SO CUTE!! Breeding If you have two adult hamsters of different genders you can take them out of the care case and put them in the breeding case, and they will have a pup (a baby hamster).
