This guide is for getting all 20 fairies in Donkey Kong 64. Developer/Publisher : Nintendo & Rareware --------------------------------------------------------------------- Banana Fairy FAQ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: So what's this "Banana Fairy" thing all about? A: Banana Fairies are these little fairies you take pictures of to unlock the "Mystery" mode from the main menu. Q: And how would I take pictures of them? A: First you need the camera. To get it first you must have unlocked Tiny Kong and have the Mini Monkey ability. Go to the island that looks like it has a witch's head. Jump into the Tiny Kong barrel to become small. Look around the corner of the Island to find a little hole you can jump into. Go in there and talk to the Big Fairy and she'll explain everything. Q: And what would be the point of that? A: To unlock more of the Mystery mode from the main menu. Q: Ok... How many Fairies are there? A: 20. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mystery Menu --------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's what you get when you get a certain amount of Banana Fairies. Getting 2 Banana Fairies Getting 2 Banana Fairies opens up the DK Theatre where you can view FMVs that you've already seen in adventure mode: -Rap -Game Over -K.Rool Takeoff -K.Rool Press Button -Enter Hideout -Castle Intro -Caves Intro -Forest Intro -Galleon Intro -Factory Intro -Aztec Intro -Jungle Intro -Intro Story Getting 6 Banana Fairies Getting 6 Banana Fairies unlocks the DK Bonus where you can play some bonus games. -Rambi Arena You use Rambi to hit as many beavers as you can in 60 seconds. 2 Points for Blue Beavers 10 Points for Golden Beavers You'll get extra points you hit multiple beavers at the same time. -Enguarde Arena You use Enguarde to go through as many DK Stars as you can in 60 seconds. 5 points for stars underwater 20 points for stars above the water -Jetpac You can only play this AFTER you've gotten the Rareware coin in adventure mode. You're this little man in a space suit, you have to build your ship, give it fuel and go to the next world. -DK Arcade You can only play this AFTER you've gotten the Nintendo coin in adventure mode. -This is the very original DK! Getting 10 Banana Fairies Getting 10 Banana Fairies lets you play the all the bosses over and over again. Getting 15 Banana Fairies lets you play as Krusha in the Kong Battle. Here's how to use him: (I've had a couple emails asking how) First goto the Mystery Menu. On the Krusha screen press Z to turn it on. Now goto Kong Battle (multiplayer) and he's now a selectable player. He's pretty good too. Getting all 20 Banana Fairies Getting all 20 Banana Fairies unlocks the CHEATS :-) You can have an infinate supply of: Instrument Music ON/OFF Crystal Coconuts ON/OFF Film ON/OFF Oranges ON/OFF Ammo ON/OFF Coins ON/OFF All : This turns all the cheats on. You can only use the cheats in Adventure mode. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Banana Fairies in the DK Isles --------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Number of Fairies : 4 #1- Next to the Fairy Faced Island. On a small island with a palm tree. The fairy is at the top of the tree. #2- Go near the entrance of Frantic Factory. Use Chunky's Primate Punch to break open a ?? box. The Fairy is inside there. #3- Near K.Rool's boat, look for Tiny's teleport pad. Press Z to warp to the top where a fairy awaits. NOTE: You need Tiny's teleport ability to pull this one off. #4- Go to the entrance to Fungi Forest. Using Tiny, look high above one wall for a feather switch. Blast the switch to release a fairy. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Banana Fairies in Jungle Japes --------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Number of Fairies : 2 #1- There's a fairy floating above a small underground pool underneath the steppes in a branched-off pathway that's revealed after Donkey uses the rhino to bash open a door with the rhino's face on it. #2- In the room where Lanky Stomped the two pegs. A fairy appears after Lanky get the Golden Banana. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Banana Fairies in Angry Aztec --------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Number of Fairies : 2 #1- Only Tiny can get this fairy. After Diddy feeds the rotating pillar with peanuts, have Tiny visit the nearby building with the new switches that appear after Diddy's done. Shoot the switch to enter. Take the first left branching path to find a small hole in the side of the wall and a mini monkey barrel. Shrink and go in the hole to find the fairy. #2- Enter the building with the llama face on it by shooting one of the switches on the side. Enter and look for an alcove with a little vase turned over on its side. The fairy's floating above the vase. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Banana Fairies in Frantic Factory --------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Number of Fairies : 2 #1- One Fairy is above Funky's Armory. You must of completed Tiny's Dart Board Puzzle. #2- In the room with building block tower look for a connecting purple-lit hallway. There's a fairy in that hallway. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Banana Fairies in Gloomy Galleon --------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Number of Fairies : 2 #1- Only Tiny Kong can get this one. There's one in a jail cell on the way to getting a Golden Banana in the Sunken Ship. NOTE : You must get a pic of it between the bars. #2- Only Chunky Kong can get this one. At the 1 bananaport, walk right under a ship broken in half. Follow the trail of green bananas until Chunky sees 3 chests. Break the one on the left with a primate punch to release the fairy. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Banana Fairies in Fungi Forest --------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Number of Fairies : 2 #1- There's a fairy in the building that's surrounded by the Ivy walls. There's a ? box, use simian slam to free the fairy. #2- This one is next to Snide's HQ. After getting the golden banana at night time in the house next to Snide's HQ, the fairy will appear nearby. You must use Diddy to get this one. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Banana Fairies in Crystal Caves --------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Number of Fairies : 2 #1- Only Diddy Kong can get this one. After Diddy gets the Golden Banana by lighting the candles in the log building (by Bananport 5 Open Diddy's Door then Kill the two enemies inside. A jumping pad will appear use it to get up to the Jetpack Barrel and use the flame to light the candles), then fairy will appear in that room. #2- Only Tiny Kong can get this one. Locate the Igloo. Open Tiny's door by playing Saxaphone Slam. Go in and slam the target four (4) times. You'll get a Golden Banana AND a fairy will appear in the same room. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Banana Fairies in Creepy Castle --------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Number of Fairies : 2 #1- Only Tiny Kong can get this fairy. After Diddy unlocks the door to the ballroom, near bananaport 4, go inside as Tiny and look for a platform with Tiny's face on it. This teleports Tiny to a scale model of what appears to be a barn. Behind the barn is the flying fairy. #2- This one is in the big tree at the start of the level, after Donkey completes his Barrel Blast bonus-stage and gets a Golden Banana in the tree. Look for a fairy in plain view above the water where DK got that banana. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Banana Fairies in Hideout Helm --------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Number of Fairies : 2 #1 and #2 - Both fairies lie behind the Nintendo/Rareware coin door along with the 8th boss key.
