Contact Information ================================= Part I. FAQ UPDATES & INFORMATION ================================= -February 17, 2001: Version 1.0 - The first version of the FAQ is added. All that is added are copyright information, the game's controls, the guide for the first and second stages, credits, and the contact information. Note that this FAQ was created for "The Terminator" in Easy mode, and I have not completed the Normal, Hard, or Very Hard modes (and I don't intend to any time soon, either). The walk-through for the police station and the computer factory will be added soon. -February 18, 2001: Version 2.0 - I edited a few sentences, changing the title of Section V, part F. I added the strategy for the police station level. I'm playing "The Terminator" again to get the feel back. The last stage is a tough one, I must add. I also added a small percentage of the guide for the last stage. ============================== Part II. COPYRIGHT INFORMATION ============================== This document is (c)2001 Gustavo L. Lazo. "THE TERMINATOR" CONTROLS =================================== Up button: Climb up ladders. Down button: Crouch down; climb down ladders. Down button + B button: Crouch and throw grenades/fire weapons. Left/Right buttons: Move Reese left or right. -Note: Reese cannot move and fire his weapon simultaneously. A button: Set off timed bombs. -Note: This only works in the first stage. B button: Throw grenades & fire weapon. C button: Reese jumps. -Note: Reese cannot jump and fire his weapon simultaneously. ====================================== Part IV. "THE TERMINATOR" WEAPONS LIST ====================================== This is a basic and small list of weapons Reese will use throughout the game to try and stop the Terminator from killing Sarah Connor. They are organized by the game's stages. --------------------- Los Angeles, 2029 AD: --------------------- -Hand grenades: Your first weapon. They can be used to destroy tanks and HKs (hunter-killers). They are somewhat powerful, but you won't need them that much. -Assault rifle: The game classifies this as the UZI 9mm. It's a powerful gun that can take groups of HKs. This weapon has infinite ammunition. -Timed bombs: These bombs explode in two seconds. Don't worry, these bombs will do you no harm, but they will do harm to groups of HKs, and doors. However, very large tanks and other robots can easily crush them and therefore they will not explode. You will need to save these to complete the first level (later mentioned in the game's walk-through). -------------------------------------------------------------- Los Angeles, 1984 AD/West Palm Police Station/Computer Factory -------------------------------------------------------------- Shotgun: This is all you will have to destroy the Terminator. You will automatically acquire it when you are in Los Angeles in 1984. The only drawback to this weapon is that Reese is slow taking it out and the bad guys can easily hit him. However, if you crouch while removing the shotgun, he'll do it faster. He cannot kill police officers with this weapon, only Los Angeles gangsters. ============================ Part V. "THE TERMINATOR" FAQ ============================ ----------------------- A. Los Angeles, 2029 AD ----------------------- You will end up in the holocaust that is Los Angeles in the 21st century. A timed bomb will appear for you to collect. Wait for a while and another timed bomb will appear. Collect that, and you will end up with six which is all you need. Running to the right, you will come across one of SkyNet's tanks. About sixteen grenades or more into its yellow plate or above and it will be destroyed. Note that the timed bombs will not work because the tank will crush it. Do not go near the tank or it will crush you and the game will be over. After the tank's destruction, run to the right and SkyNet's plane will fly over your head parachuting bombs on top of you. Do your best to avoid them, but they don't cause too much damage. It is possible to bring down the plane. You will soon reach a ladder where you will have to climb down it. Once you've descended collect the UZI 9mm and used the timed bomb on the door to the left. Any HKs (hunter-killers) near you will automatically be destroyed. Jump downstairs and you will come across a trapezoid-shaped flight of stairs. Go upstairs, but don't go downstairs because there is a dead end there. Instead, jump to the platform above it, head right and downstairs. At the end of that bottom path, destroy the door at the end, and go upstairs, right, then straight downstairs. You'll come across a large orange tube with liquid flowing through. Set a timed bomb in front of it. The screen will turn red and you will have forty-five seconds to get to your destination. Go back the way you came in, but jump on the upper platform above the one you entered to destroy the tubes. You'll know you're going the right way when you pass a "Level 1" sign. Head up the ladder, go right, and enter the time machine. Mission 1 is completed. -------------------------------- B. Los Angeles, 1984 AD - Part I -------------------------------- The time travel was a success, but your body feels so much pain. You're now in the year 1984, and the Terminator has made it, too. A few minutes after your arrival, and already the police are after you. You're here to look for Sarah Connor, and here's the easy way. Once the game starts, head up the ladder to avoid being attacked by both the police and those Los Angeles punks. Jump from roof to roof, avoiding the helicopter's missiles which, by the way, is easy to do. Jump to the first ladder you see on the roof and immediately climb up. Reese will swing from the flagpole to the next roof with a ladder. You'll pass the roof with a poster of "The Terminator." Head to the last roof and jump off. Shoot the police and punks. The punks will die once they're on the floor, but it seems the police are wearing bulletproof vests, or something. They cannot die. Do your best to avoid gunfire and bombs. Head straight to the phone booth. -Note: Holding down the Down button and pressing the B button will cause Reese to crouch down and fire his shotgun. This, in fact, is better than standing up and unloading the shotgun because he does it faster while he crouches. So, I advise you to crouch down and fire. --------------------------------- C. Los Angeles, 1984 AD - Part II --------------------------------- You will enter the second part of the area. Shoot the policemen as soon as you see them. You will come across the construction site. Follow the one-way pattern, which involves some jumping to be done. Once you're at the very top of the site, jump as far to the right as possible. This helps avoid major confrontation with the police or the gangsters. Heading right, you will face more policemen and gangsters. Go up the first ladder you see, and up again on the second. Once again, to avoid confrontation, jump as far to the right as possible. You will land on a roof (in which no helicopters fire missiles at you), and head straight to the right and once you fall down, enter the TechNoir bar. ------------------------------------------------ D. TechNoir bar (Part of 'Los Angeles, 1984 AD') ------------------------------------------------ Once inside the bar, head to the right and you will see bullets fly. It looks like the Terminator has found out Sarah's whereabouts, too. Repeatedly shoot it with your shotgun until it falls down. It will fall down three times. On the third fall, its body will blink, and that is your cue to immediately proceed past it before it gets up and kills both Reese and Sarah. You'll see Sarah sitting at the table. Once you reach her, the mission is complete. --------------------------- E. West Palm Police Station --------------------------- The Terminator makes its second appearance in the game as it crashes into the police station. This happens to be the easiest level in the game because it's all in a one-way path, and therefore, I can't say much. All you have to do is be careful. Shoot guards and shoot the punks without letting their bombs and bullets hit you. (Isn't it funny that the police allow those punks to roam the police station?) After the roof comes the main floor (which is the largest room) where the Terminator is located. Shoot it until it falls three times, and on the third fall, it will blink once more and you can move past it and proceed on to collect Sarah. Mission completed. -------------------------------------------------------- F. The Final Confrontation (a.k.a. The Computer Factory) -------------------------------------------------------- This happens to be the toughest stage in the game because the Terminator follows you everywhere you go, and when I say 'everywhere', I mean *everywhere*. The Terminator makes its third and final appearance in his endoskeleton mode. Move closer to the stairs, but do not move so far that the screen starts to move. Blast the Terminator with your shotgun until it flies away. Do this about five times or less. After the last series of shots, it will appear torn in half and start crawling. Quickly proceed up the stairs before he blocks you. It is impossible to jump over the destroyed T-800 despite its size reduction. Once again, *do not let him block you*! If he blocks you against a wall, or something, the game is over. You cannot shoot it with your shotgun, either. Also, you must not allow the Terminator to touch you at all. ================ Part VI. CREDITS ================ I'd like to thank MetroidMoo (metroidmoo@earthlink.net), who unofficially inspired me to write my first FAQ among others. I'd like to thank my ability to figure games out and completing the easy mode version of this game. In advance, I'd like to thank CJayC himself for accepting this FAQ, since this is the first FAQ for "The Terminator." ============================= Part VII.
