A. Deck The deck is a pile of cards you will be drawing from. At the beginning of your turn, you will draw 1 card from your deck. If there are no cards to draw from the deck, you loose the game. B. Discard Pile The pile in wich you place used cards is called the discard pile. You can look at both yours and your opponent's dicard pile with the check command. C. hand The cards held by each player are called a hand. There is no restriction to the cards in the hand. You may even have 10 or 20 cards in your hand. D. Arena The place where the pokemon that is actively fighting is placed is called the arena. The game proceeds by using the active pokemon in the arena. E. Bench The bench is where your pokemon that are in play but aren't actually fighting sit. They're ready to come out and fight if the active pokemon retreats or is knocked out. You can have up to 5 pokemon on the bench. F. Active Pokemon The active pokemon is the pokemon in the arena. only active pokemon can attack. G. Bench Pokemon The pokemon that are in play but aren't fighting are called bench pokemon. They are ready to come out if the active pokemon retreats or is knocked out. If the active pokemon is knocked out and you don't have a bench pokemon, you lose. H. Prizes Prizes are the cards placed to count the number of the opponents pokemon you knocked out. Every time one of your opponents pokemon is knocked out. You take one of your prizes into your hand. When you take all of the prizes, you win the game. I. Damage Counter A damage counter presents the number of damage a certain pokemon has taken. 1 damage counter represents 10 HP of damage. If a pokemon with a(n) HP of 30 has 3 damage counters, it has recieved 30 HP of damage, and its remaining HP is 0. J. Energy Cards Energy cards are cards that power your pokemon. Making them able to attack. There are 7 types of energy cards: [ Grass ] [ Fire ] [ Water ] [ Lightning ] [ Psychic ] [ Fighting ] And [ Double Colorless ] you may only play 1 energy card from your hand per turn. K. Trainer Card Trainer cards are support cards. There are many trainer cards with different effects. Trainer cards are played during your turn by following the instructions on the card and then discarding it. You may use as many trainer cards as you like. L. Basic Pokemon Basic pokemon are cards that can be played directly from your hand into the play area. Basic pokemon act as the base for evolution cards. Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur are examples of basic pokemon. M. Evolution Card Evolution cards are cards you play on top of a basic pokemon card (Or sometimes on top of another evolution card) to make it stronger. There are stage 1 and stage 2 evolution cards. If you don't have a basic pokemon in the play area, you cannot place the stage 1 evolution card , and if you do not have a stage 1 evolution card in the play area, you cannot place the stage 2 evolution card. N. Attack By choosing attack, your pokemon will fight your opponents pokemon. Your pokemon require energy in order to attack. The amount of energy differs according to the attack. The active pokemon is the only pokemon that can attack. O. Pokemon Power Unlike attacks, pokemon power can be used by active or bench pokemon. Some pokemon power are effective by just placing the pokemon in the play area, but for some you must choose the command, pokemon power. P. Some pokemon have a weakness. If a pokemon has a weakness, it takes double damage when attacked by a certain type. Q. Resistance Some pokemon have resistance. If a pokemon has a resistance, it takes 30 less damage whenever attacked by pokemon by a certain type. R. Retreat By choosing retreat you may switch an active pokemon with a pokemon on your bench. Energy is required to retreat your active pokemon. The amount of energy required to retreat differs for each pokemon. To retreat, you must discard energy equal to the retreat cost of the retreating pokemon. ---------------------- 2) Walkthrough ---------------------- >> A. Mason Laboratory << This is where you'll start as you begin your journey. Dr. Mason's assistant, Sam, will teach you how to play and then you'll start playing a practice round of step by step instructions. It's too easy! Anyways, you've just learned how to play the game. You will will now get to choose wich deck you want to start off with. Same like the first Pokemon game, Bulbasaur deck for beginners, and Squirtle and Charmander decks for all the other players. You'll see in the rrom to the right is a whole bunch of computers. Hardly any are working now, because you just began your journey. You'll soon find that each of the computers can automatically make you a helpful deck. Try to challenge the guys in this laboratory whenever your running out of energys. They have loads of them. >> B. Travelers You'll Meet << Ronald: You'll meet Ronald in the place you would least expect and he has legendary cards too, thats what makes him a tough trainer. -Places you'll meet him Rock Club - As he leaves he'll brag about how he got that medal without any hesitation and teases you because he thinks you'd never get those legendary cards. Lightning Club - Battles you when your ready to leave when you just got your Lightning Medal. Pokemon Dome - Go there when you don't have enough medals and read the gold- plated sign next to the door. Psychic Club - Be prepared after defeating Murray. Save it of course, because Ronalds tougher now. Once you beat him you'll get a rare card. Pokemon Dome - This time its your last battle versing him. Go see the "Pokemon Dome" section for information. Imakuni?: This guys a weirdo. He has a haircut like Mickey mouse and dresses in a black suit. Not only that, but he likes to sing and dance thats why its easy to spot but, TRY to bump into him because he'll give you all four of the booster packs in the game each time you defeat him. He also has a funny card: Imakuni? Your active pokemon is now confused. Imakuni wants you to play him as a basic pokemon , but you can't. A mysterious creature not listed in the pokedex. He asks kids around the world, "Who is cuter-Pikachu or me?" The card effects HIS POKEMON!!! What a strange guy along with his strange pokemon! -Places you'll meet him Talk to him by the mini-library - Thats where you'll meet him in a random club. You'll notice hes near when you hear strange music. -Getting The Imakuni? Trainer Card To get this rare card you need to beat him three times in a row. Even if the card IS against you, you probably don't want any holes in your collection. Don't worry about a thing, this guys a cinch. Anyways..... >> C. Rock Club << Be sure to talk to the lady by the mini-library and she'll give you info on Ishihara. -Club Master Gene Deck: Simply take him out with grass pokemon. Those Nidoran are a good choice. Prize Cards: 6 Awards: Rock Medal, 2 Mystery Packs Club Members: Matthew, Andrew, Ryan Matthew Deck: Hard Pokemon Use grass type pokemon for this dude. Prize Cards: 4 Awards: 2 Mystery Packs Andrew Deck: Blistering Pokemon Grass will do. Prize Cards: 4 Awards: 2 Mystery Packs Ryan Deck: Excavation Use some water (Along with grss of course) pokemon for this guy, he has a couple of fires. Prize Cards: 3 Awards: 2 Evolution Packs >> D. Lightning Club << Wow, shocking place! -Club Master Isaac Deck: Selfdestruct Whoa, cool, the masters even easier han the members. Just use only ground pokemon. Prize Cards: 6 Awards: Lightning Medal, 2 Mystery Packs Club Members: Jennifer, Brandon, Nicholas Jennifer Deck: Pikachu A Pikachu team? Well, pack a few colorless along with grounds. Man, isn't that flying Pikachu annoying. Prize Cards: 4 Awards: 2 Mystery Packs Brandon Deck: Power genorater Use your rocks. Prize Carsd: 4 Awards: 2 Mystery Packs Nicholas Deck: Boom Boom Selfdestruct He looks pretty cool! But don't judge a book by its cover. Use your rocks against this guy, Nicholas. Prize Cards: 4 Awards: 2 Mystery Packs >> E. Fighting Club << Mitch, (the club master) wants you to find his club members that are hidden in some clubs. Once you defeat them all; thats when you'll face the Club Master. -Club Master Mitch Way easy if you have a deck of psychics and nothing but! Deck: First-Strike Prize Cards: 6 Awards: Fighting Medal, 2 Laboratory Packs Club Members: Jessica, Chris, Michael Jessica Deck: Love To Battle In the Fire Club. Uses lots of colorless. Use fighting or colorless too if you want. Prize Cards: 4 Awards: 2 Colosseum Packs Chris In the Rock Club. Use lots of psychic and colorless pokemon. This guy has lots of fighting pokemon and they include about 2 Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee! Deck: Muscles For Brains Prize Cards: 4 Awards: 2 Evolution Packs Michael In the Grass Club. This guy, Michael, has some other types of pokemon, but mostly fighting. You'll do fine with him as long as you have a mix of colorless and a psychic deck. Deck: Heated Battle Prize Cards: 4 Awards: 2 Colosseum Packs >> F. Psychic Club << -Club Master Murray Before you can go battle Murray you need at least four medals. You don't have to use psychic pokemon on Muuray. in fact, you can beat her with just fighting pokemon because she does use a lot of normals. Just like the fire leader (Ken). Deck: Strange Psyshock Prize Cards: 6 Awards: Psychic Medal, 2 Laboratory Packs Club Members: Stephanie, Daniel, Robert Stephanie Deck: Strange Power Since Stephanie has lots of colorless, just try not to use your psychic pokemon. Prize Cards: 4 Awards: 2 Laboratory Packs Daniel Deck: Nap Time Use both psychic and colorless pokemon on Daniel. Prize Cards: 4 Awards: 2 Evolution Packs Robert Deck: Ghost Uses ghost pokemon but they're the same as psychic so use a mix of colorless and psychic. A colorless with metranome would be good such as Clefairy and Clefable they can resist psychic than copy a psychics move to get there weak point. Prize Cards: 4 Awards: 2 EvolutionPacks >> G. Fire Club << Don't get fooled just by the name fire. Take some fighting pokemon with you because theres a mix of colorless as well. -Club Master Ken Deck: Prize Cards: Awards: Club Members: >> H. Science Club << >> I. Grass Club << >> J. Water Club << >> K. Challenge Hall << >> L. Pokemon Dome << Almost there to inheriting those legendary cards. -Rival: Ronald Deck: Legendary Ronald His deck consists of all the legendary cards. Geeze, why couldn't they just take them out before battling to make it fair. Anyways, he has the most of Moltress. So he'll be getting lots of fire energys to quickly attack. Use water pokemon. A good one would be to use Blastoise. Good Luck.......... Prize Cards: 6 -Grand Master Rod Deck: Legendary Dragonite He's a wise master. Hes got a Charizard but no fire energys. Lucky him, he doesn't need them but if you knock out his Charmander or Charmeleon before it can evolve, thats great but you've still got a Dragonite to take care of! Same with a Garydos but thats even easier since a magikarp is so weak. Try building a deck that consist of Some water and fighting. Prize Cards: 6 Grand Members: Courtney, Steve, Jack Courtney Deck: Legendary Moltress Simple, just use water pokemon. Prize Cards: 6 (Thunder) Steve Deck: Legendary Zapdos Don't use rock. Well, hardly. Zapdos resists rock. Try a different type thats very powerful and mix it with some rock. Prize Cards: 6 Jack Deck: Legendary Articuno Use lighting type pokemon and you'll be fine. The Ultra Water PKMN Explanation: There is no colorless pokemon in this deck, the colorless energy is just for dewgong. Anyways, out of all the times I played with this deck, not once did I get a Blastoise or loose at all. This deck would probably loose if it versed a lightning team though. The best part in tis deck is that you can attack quick and with a powerful attack thanks to Blastoise's Rain Dance and Double Colorless Energy. There really is no weaknesses in this deck! Beat him after you get your fourth medal and get Super Energy Retrieval where if you discard (or trade) 2 cards from your hand you can get up to 4 basic energy cards put into your hand. Grand Master Courtney uses the Legendary Moltres, so her deck should be made up of Fire Pokemon. Be sure to use Water Pokemon, since Water Pokemon are the weakness of Fire Pokemon.Other than that, Just watch how your opponent plays, and choose your strategy accordingly. -Grand Master Steve uses the Legendary Zapdos' Peel of Thunder and Thunder randomly shows a target so you never know which Pokemon will recieve damage. Be sure to look after not only your active Pokemon but also the Pokemon on your Bench. His deck should be made up of mostly of Lightning Pokemon, so duel him using your fighting Pokemon. Defeat the Grand Masters. -Two more masters to go. Grand Master Jack uses Legendary Articuno. He will use the Legendary Articuno's Quick Freeze to paralyze your pokemon. Also, be wary of his other Articuno's Freeze Day. His deck should be mostly water pokemon, so it will be weak against lightning pokemon. Go get 'em! Your almost there. -The final duel is here. I have information on Rod, the leader of the Grand Masters. Rod uses the Legendary Dragonite the longer the duel takes the greater the advantages for his deck. His workhouse will be his evolution Pokemon. So defeat them while they are still in their basic stage! Follow the simple strategy of striking early. This is the final test in inheriting the legendary Pokemon cards. Go be part of the Legend. * Indicaes a mistake in the game *Psychic - Supposed to be "lighting" *Pit - Suppose to be "Put" Note: I haven't beaten the game yet so I don't know the other e-mails. >> B.
