This being my first try at a guide and all it probably isn’t the greatest but hey at least I gave it a crack. If this is your first Monster Rancher game I would recommend trying Monster Rancher 1-4. But anyways on with it, this game is great IMO, so was Solomon’s Key, but this one is better with the addition of Monsters from Monster Rancher (Obviously). Not really much else to say so on with the guide... =============================================================================== *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* | About the Game | *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* Monster Rancher Explorer released late 2000 by Tecmo is a remake of the classic arcade game “Solomon’s Key” created also by Tecmo. You play as Cox a Journalist/Adventurer who is also a secondary character from Monster Rancher Battle Card on Gameboy Colour. The objective of the game is to reach the top of the tower by going through each level making and breaking crates to get to the door to the next room. In each room there are numerous monsters from the Monster Rancher series (Including Henger, Jell, Plant, Dino and many more) making it more challenging to get through to the next level. =============================================================================== *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* | (STACH) Storyline/Characters | *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* $-----------------------------$ | Storyline | $-----------------------------$ This is the exact Storyline word for word from the game. “35 Years before Monster Rancher. The Layout of the list is shown below. Boss: The name of the boss Monster: The Monster that the boss is Movement: What movement does the monster have Attack(s): What attack(s) does the monster do Killed: How to kill the monster Difficulty: Tells you how hard the boss is Owner: The name of the person who owns the boss Strategy: A Strategy for beating the boss ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ @*******************@ | Selketo | @*******************@ Boss: Selketo Monster: Beaklon Movement: N/A Attack(s): Drops large Spines from above Killed: By destroying the 3 crates at the top of the level and allowing Selketo to fall down the hole Difficulty: Very Easy Owner: Kalum Strategy: This Boss is very, very easy. When the room starts Selketo will start moving toward the left so make a Staircase of boxes toward the right. Selketo will move twice to the left and the left and then head back to the right so by the time Selketo should be up to the same point you are, you should have 2-3 crates, then Selketo should fall to the ground and die and now on to the next level. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ @*******************@ | Ferious | @*******************@ Boss: Ferious Monster: Pixie/Centaur Movement: Left, Right and Jumps onto platforms Attack(s): Tries to trample you Killed: By hitting the switches located on the sides and then allowing the spikes to fall on Ferious Difficulty: Medium Owner: Mistral Strategy: This Boss isn’t easy but you should be alright. Ferious begins by heading to the left and jumping down on to the same level as you, so as soon as the room begins head right straight away and make a staircase of crates toward the switch. Hit the switch when Ferious is getting close or it will miss, Ferious will then turn around and walk to the other end and jump up to get you from behind so when follow Ferious to the end and wait right near the switch until you see Ferious and then hit the switch. Ferious will turn around and try get you from behind again so just repeat the above and now your up to the next level. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ @*******************@ | Punisher | @*******************@ Boss: Punisher Monster: Naga Movement: N/A Attack(s): Drops large Purple balls from above Killed: By lighting all 6 candles Difficulty: Easy Owner: Rafaga Strategy: This Boss is easy, all you will need to do is light all 6 candles, 3 on either side. Punisher will begin by heading to the left and shooting 3 large Purple balls at you from above and then will head to the right and do the same thing. So, pretty much, begin from the right, light a candle and run to the left and repeat. Just note that the Purple balls will destroy your crates so be quick or hid near the candle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ @*******************@ | Dragon | @*******************@ Boss: Dragon Monster: Dragon Movement: N/A Attack(s): Makes rocks fall from above by smashing his foot on the ground and when you hit his foot he will breathe 3 fire balls at the same Killed: By shooting a Firework at his foot and then shooting one at his head Difficulty: Hard Owner: Tempest Strategy: This Boss is hard, begin by waiting at the very end block and waiting for Dragon to cause an earthquake then pick up all the fireworks left over. Now that you have fireworks make a crate right at Dragons foot and work your way up backward to the height just before Dragons head. Then make one more block toward Dragons head to be at the exact same height as the head. Now when Dragon raises his foot for the Earthquake attack wait until the foot is about to be dropped and then hold down and press B to shoot a firework which will follow your crates down to hit the foot. Dragon will then retaliate with 3 fire balls which will hit far back, the middle of the room and right near Dragon, before Dragon breathes fire run behind your crates and down the gap and hid under the grey block closes to Dragons foot and then repeat the above and up to the next level again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ @*******************@ | Zan | @*******************@ Boss: Zan Monster: Zan Movement: Left, Right, Up, Down & Teleports Attack(s): Flies toward your current position and tries to hit you and teleports to either the top or bottom left or right of the screen and flies across from there Killed: By collecting the 4 Saucer Stones in each corner and running into it when flies in a diamond shape in the middle of the room Difficulty: Hard Owner: Nada Strategy: Finally up to the last Boss, Zan. When the room begins make a staircase to either the right or left it doesn’t matter (forget about getting the Saucer Stone Piece at the bottom for now), Zan should attack you but continually make the staircase and collect the Saucer Stone Piece at the top. Zan should then break you staircase open with his attack making a large gap, jump down that gap and pick up the Saucer Stone Piece down there. Repeat these steps for the other side as well. Now that you have A full (4 Pieces) Saucer Stone, head toward the middle of the room and make about 2 crates (1 in the middle of the room and one above that either to the left or right). Zan should then be in the middle if not there already and fly in a diamond shape starting from the left, if you collide with Zan, Zan will receive damage. After a couple of hits Zan will change attacks to a teleporting attack. Repeat the above but when making a staircase of crates toward the Saucer Stone Piece only make it half way because Zan will attack from the side you are on either on the top half or bottom half of the screen. This way if Zan attacks from the bottom keep heading up and get the Saucer Stone Piece or if Zan is at the top half of the screen head down some crates and wait for the attack to finish and collect the Saucer Stone Piece from the top and bottom of that side. Collect all the Saucer Stone Pieces and then Zan will do the diamond attack again so make about 2 crates (1 in the middle of the room and one above that either to the left or right). Zan should then be in the middle if not there already and fly in a diamond shape starting from the left, if you collide with Zan, Zan will receive damage. After a couple of hits Zan will be defeated and you will see the ending..... Or will you? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ $-----------------------------$ | Buddies | $-----------------------------$ Here is a list of Monster Buddies in Alphabetical Order. The Layout of the list is shown below. Decide what monster you want. They are in the following order: Suezo, Mocchi, Hare, Tiger, Golem, and Gali. Make sure that you do not get the bonus stage in stage 6. Go through the game finding the bonuses until you get the monster just before the one you want. Then, go to the bonus stage in stage 6 to catch the monster just after the last one you caught (According to the list). Keep restarting the tower and going to stage 6 repeatedly until you get as many as needed. As long as you also collect the Saucer Stone pieces you should not run out of them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ $-----------------------------$ | Mistakes | $-----------------------------$ Incorrect Spelling: ------------------- I don’t know if anyone noticed this but when you go visit Verde after finishing the 10 Basement levels she will say this “Oh! You’re here! Naji told me everything. I’m excited to take care of Phenix! I’m excited as a breeder. I’ll take good care of them, so bring more of them. Notice that she says “Phenix”, instead of Phoenix. She also says it when you leave Phoenix with her to look after. Not really a big deal but I thought I’d mention it. =============================================================================== *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* | (GMSHK) Gameshark Codes | *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* Infinite Time - 0199d2c2 Must switch GameShark off after level is complete; turn it on once you are out of the end of level screen.
