MONSTER RANCHER EXPLORER GAMEBOY COLOR FAQ ------------------------------------------ Ethan@randominformation.com www.randominformation.com <> Monster Rancher Explorer is a platform/puzzle game. You play as Cox who is also a secondary character from Monster Rancher Battle Card. The story is that Cox has come to Mount Sekitoba to climb the tower and finish his paper on monsters. It's a very fun and EXTREMELY challenging game which I HIGHLY recommend. <> There are 60 levels to the tower plus 10 in the basement as well as bonus levels. There is also a time limit on each level and you only have 3 lives to start with. If time runs out you lose a life and if you lose all 3 you get tossed out of the tower without your items. In order to get through the tower you have the ability to create and break crates. You do this with the A button. The levels are made up of blocks and if you are standing on a single block you can make crates directly to your left and right, holding down and pressing A will create blocks on either side of you at the same level you are standing, you can also jump by pressing up and make a crate above you to either side, finally if you stand on the edge of a block and make a crate it will appear 1 square away from you, you can do this in the same places as the others. I know this doesn't make much sense but it's hard to explain in words. Try it in the game and you'll see what I mean. The B button will shoot fireworks which you can find in the tower. These are little balls of fire which travel along the walls and kill any monster they touch. They only travel a certain distance before they go out so be careful. Also you only have a limited amount so use them sparingly. If you're quick you shouldn't even need them. During the game you may find pieces of a disc stone. If you get 4 pieces you get a full disc. Hidden in certain levels is an item (I call it a "Monster Flame" for lack of a better name) which will take you to the bonus level where you can find a good monster to seal in the disc. You then go to the shrine to unlock the disc and take the monster with you into the tower. Each monster has different powers which I'll get into in a different section. You can also use the Monster Checkpoint to house monsters you don't want to use at the moment. You can only take 1 at a time. That about covers everything you need to know in order to begin playing the game. What follows are the lists of bad monsters, and items in the game followed by a list, level-by-level, of each floor and what you will find there. It may take a while for this to be completed but I will do my best to be through and fast. <> NAME: Blue Flame BEHAVIOR: Stationary. Blocks your path. Will die if dropped. Invulnerable to fireworks. NAME: Dino BEHAVIOR: Travels left/right and breaths fire if it sees you. Will break blocks. Dies if dropped. NAME: Ducken BEHAVIOR: Attached to walls/ceiling and shoots missiles at you. NAME: Joker BEHAVIOR: Flies left/right and breaks blocks. NAME: Naga BEHAVIOR: Moves left/right and chases Cox. Will swipe with claw. Breaks blocks next to it. Will die if dropped but not if it falls on its own. NAME: Plant BEHAVIOR: Moves left/right and shoots seeds at you. Seeds break blocks. Will die if dropped. NAME: Psylora BEHAVIOR: Travels along the walls. Doesn't break blocks. Can be trapped by crates. NAME: Puncho BEHAVIOR: Moves left and right. Not sure what this one does. Never got caught by it. NAME: Red Flame BEHAVIOR: Stationary. Blocks your path. Won't die if dropped. Invulnerable to fireworks. NAME: Tacopi BEHAVIOR: Rotates and moves left/right. Will die if Dropped but not if it falls. Further in the tower (not sure which level) you will find the woman who runs the monster checkpoint. After you have found these people you are ready to get good monsters. As you go through the tower you will find disc stone pieces. Get 4 to obtain a complete disc. When you have one you need to find a "Monster Flame" when you do and complete the level you found it on you will then be taken to a bonus stage where you can seal a good monster in the disc (as well as a ton of other goodies). After you have sealed the monster exit the tower and go to the shrine to release the monster. You can now take it with you into the tower and press select for various effects depending on the monster you have. If you go to the monster checkpoint you can store your monsters until you are ready to use them. There is no limit to the number of times you can capture the same monster. Each time you do you will add to the total number of times you can use that monster. The number increases in increments of 5. Now on to the monsters... Name: Hare Location: Level 6. There are Strong Blocks creating a triangle. The Monster Flame is directly underneath the top block. Create and then break a crate in that spot to reveal the flame. Use: Doubles your speed while moving left/right. Name: Suezo Location: Level 44. From where you start right over head you can see 3 crates in a line with blue flames on the outer ones. The Monster Flame is in the middle one. Use: Reveals locations of hidden items. Only items not hidden by crates will be shown. Name: Golem Location: Level 22. There are 3 rows of blocks on this level. The Monster Flame is to the left of the bottom row. Use: Destroys all blocks on level. Name: Gali Location: Level 18. There are 2 Strong Blocks stacked up to your left when you start this level. The Monster Flame is to the right of these blocks. Use: Stops time and movement of monsters. Use: Kills all monsters on the level. Name: Phoenix Location: Last level of the basement. Use: Automatically brings you back to life. <> After you complete the tower you will have access to the basement of the tower where the Phoenix is located. There's a catch. You have to go back through the tower and find 10 silver keys to unlock each level. <> This list will have every level listed with which monsters are in the level along with every item as well. This will take a while so bear with me. Level #: Monsters: Items:
