COS= ___/ S O \S--------------------------------------------------------S/ Thinking of buying the game? Not sure whether to buy Sorcerer's Stone of Chamber of Secrets? Of course you should buy Chamber of Secrets. I mean, it's what this walkthrough is all about (you're probably thinking, what a dumb section). But we all want to know what we're in for before we actually buy any game. And even if you've played Sorcerer's Stone, this section could be of some interest (note, "some"). Graphics - CoS Well, first glance you'll probably think they're both the same from each game. Chamber of Secrets has done a bit of touching up and you can notice if you've played the game a while. Sound/Music - Tie Music and sound is usually crappy on most games. I don't think the makers did a whole lot to improve it. The music crudely imitates the music you hear in the movie. And you don't pay a whole lot of attention to the sound with the annoying "dings" and "swishes". Characters - CoS This was probably the most noticeable of all the categories. Why else did they give you a Folio Bruti? Sorcerer's Stone also didn't have Quidditch games or a jillion monsters besides Rat and Bat. Storyline - SS This wasn't exactly easy, as both games follow as close to the story line as possible. But as you play the game several times, you begin to notice how many more major events each game has missed. For some reason I think CoS is shorter than SS. I don't know it's just one minute you're fight Mandrakes in Herbology and then you're in Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom for the last time. Controls/Gameplay - CoS The controls are pretty much the same with the menus and such. But what makes CoS better are the battlemodes. They now of pictures of the spells and more people can fight in one party. Each person has their own special attack. You can't beat that. Summary It's a bit obvious which game won. Chamber of Secrets has improved a lot since the last game. If you're up for quests and buying school supplies (lol) pick. Well, you can do that too in Chamber of Secrets :P! ,___, ,___,__ (OvO) (-v-)// (_^((\ INTRODUCTION (_^((/ /S-m-m-\\---------------------------------------------m__mS\ O S H P =SECTION V - FAQ= ___/ S O \S--------------------------------------------------------S/ 1. What is new in Chamber of Secrets? There is a multi-person battling system where members of your party (like Ron and Hermione) can battle with Harry. So if Harry dies then you don't completely lose the battle. There's also a new battle feature with spells where the highlighted pictures of the spells are the ones you can use. Another thing I like is that the people also have their special "attacks". Harry uses the cards and Ron can use Scabbers, for example. 2. Are the controls any different? Basically it remains the same. There isn't much difference but there are a few new screens for items and such. 3. I can't beat this boss! There is not a whole lot I can do. If you cannot beat the boss, it is more than likely you aren't at a high enough level or have learned the proper skills. I suggest taking a look at your items and weaponry and maybe seeing what you can do to help your chances. 4. I'm stuck! Help! Remember, if I can beat this game 6 times than you can complete it. If you want to see your current quest, press start and see the objective. Maybe that'll give you a bit of a hint on where and what to do. Also, some events are triggered by doing other things. 5. How long does it usually take to beat the game? First time around it may take all day. If you have played games like this before, maybe a bit less. 6. I've beat the game a zillion times and I still don't have all the items! Well, first of all, you lose all of your items every time you restart the game again so don't expect yourself to find everything. You keep all of you cards, combos, and Bruti records, however. I would concentrate more on collecting the cards than collecting items. 7. What are the two cards you find in the Slytherin Common Room? I think it's Queen Maeve and Mudsidora Barkwith. You get them with different decks. 8. Where can I get the ROM? You should buy the game, cheapie. Well, if you really want it http://www.gbxemu.com has lots of ROMs (I didn't refer you). 9. Can I print out your FAQ for personal use? Of course! The only thing I don't like is for you to steal it and repost it without asking. 10. When will there be more gameshark codes? When people hack them, lol. It takes Gameshark.com forever to post up codes (wait about a year) so people have their own methods. Seriously, I think they should hire a few more people. Harry Potter is stuck at his mean aunt and uncle's house at the beginning of school. He meets an elf named Dobby who tells him not to go back to school because something bad is going to happen. Harry doesn't listen and leaves with Ron and his brothers through a flying car. Back at the Burrow (Ron's House), they leave for King's Cross. When Ron and Harry run through the barrier, they cannot because the train has left already. Ron has an idea and they take the flying car to Hogwarts and end up flying into the Whomping Willow (a tree on the Hogwarts Grounds) and the car gets beat up. Harry and Ron almost get expelled, but Dumbledore (the headmaster) gives them another chance. Soon afterwards, they start their 2nd year at Hogwarts and strange things are beginning to happen. ,___, ,___,__ (OvO) (-v-)// (_^((\ GAME INFO (_^((/ /S-m-m-\\---------------------------------------------m__mS\ O S H P =SECTION II - CHARACTERS= ___/ S O \S--------------------------------------------------------S/ If you've never played or read the Harry Potter books, getting to know all of the main characters can be a hassle. Here are a few of the basic main characters you will see in the game. HARRY POTTER This is the main character of the whole game and the character you play. Harry defeated (well, not really but they say that) the Dark Lord about 11 years ago (in game time) when he was only a baby. Now Voldemort and his goonies are out to get him. RON WEASLEY This is Harry's best friend and other main character. Ron is second youngest out of about 7 kids. Ron likes to stick up for his friends, but sometimes that courage gets him into trouble. HERMIONE GRANGER This is Harry's other best friend, Hermione. She is a muggle who gets attacked in the story/game. Hermione is all about books and studying. She helps Harry and Ron figure out puzzles as well as giving advice where it is needed. ALBUS DUMBLEDORE As Headmaster, Dumbledore plays a big role in the game/story. He gives counsel to Harry and looks after school festivities. FRED AND GEORGE WEASLEY These are Ron's twin brothers. They are practical jokers and own the two student stores located on the seventh floor and entrance hall. PERCY WEASLEY You don't him much in the game. He is a prefect for Gryffindor and Ron's brother. GINNY WEASLEY Ginny is a huge character in the game. She is Ron's little sister and has an unmistakable crush on Harry. It is her first year at Hogwarts and things don't go too well for little Ginny. MR. AND MRS. WEASLEY These are Ron's parents. Mr. Weasley works for the Ministry and Mrs. Weasley works at home tending to the kids. They are poor and don't have a lot of money. TOM RIDDLE This guy is evil, or should I say Voldemort's past form. He appears in a flashback when Harry is writing in the diary and at the end of the game in the Chamber of Secrets. Oh, he's the heir to Slytherin btw. HAGRID Hagrid is a nice guy, even if he likes large, dangerous animals. Hagrid really helps Harry and the gang with advice and knowledge. He was accused of letting the Basilisk in Hogwarts which caused him to lose his wand. DRACO MALFOY A real punk. Draco is a Slytherin and favorite of Snape. He hates every particle of Harry and will do anything to get him, Ron, or Hermione humiliated. CRABBE AND GOYLE These are Malfoy's sidekicks. They are very stupid (I should say) and will do anything for food. COLIN CREEVY And I thought Lockhart was bad. This first year Gryffindor is practically obsessed with Harry; taking pictures of him at every waking moment. OLIVER WOOD This is the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain. You see him at all practices and games JUSTIN FINCH-FLETCHLEY This is a Hufflepuff who almost gets eaten by a snake at the Dueling Club. But Harry saves him, though, by speaking Parsletounge (sp). He doesn't really believe Harry and runs away from him. KATIE BELL You only see her once, and that's for a side quest. Poor Katie is injured in the hospital and would be very thankful if you returned her book. NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM Neville is in your grade and a member of Gryffindor. He is very clumsy and forgetful. PROFESSOR LOCKHART This guy is really annoying. He teaches Defense Againest the Dark Arts and isn't good at it. He is good at staring at himself in a portrait all day. PROFESSOR SNAPE This is Hogwart's potions teacher and head of Slytherin house. He hates Gryffindors and especially Harry. You don't see him that often, however, so it is nothing to worry about. PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL Unfortunately, you don't see her hardly any in this game. She is Transfiguration teacher and head of Gryffindor house. PROFESSOR SPROUT Professor Sprout is the Herbology teacher and head of Hufflepuff house. You see her about once in the game, during Herbology class. PROFESSOR FLITTWICK There isn't much use to put this guy in characters, but he is a teacher. He is a short little fellow who teaches Charms. MADAM HOOCH Madam Hooch is the Quidditch Instructor and referees all Quidditch matches. MADAM PROMFREY Madam Promfrey runs the Infirmary, which you see very often (lol). FILCH AND MRS. NORRIS Filch is the hateful janitor and Mrs. Norris is his cat. Ron helps you out more often, though, and Hermione is only on some occasions. Each character has his or her own special attack. In Harry's case, it is the card combo attacks. Ron can use Scabbers and Hermione uses her "teaching" attacks. Another unique about the characters is the way they upgrade their spells. There is a trick for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: When you are about to encounter an enemy, press select. Harry will say where you are, and the encounter thing will disappear. Then, while Harry is saying where you are, press the D-pad on the Gameboy to the direction of the foe, and after you think you would be past it, release select. You will notice that the foe isn't there anymore! This cheat works about 90% of the time. =GLITCHES/STRANGE THINGS Thanks to haque001l@suttonlea.org. 1.) Harry's face looks different in battle and out of battle. 2.) When you speak to Wendolyn in the portrait, the portrait displays her as having (sun)glasses. However, when you look at her card/speak to her, it shows her without any glasses. 3.) When Colin has been Petrified, if you go to the Hospital wing, and talk to Colin's body, Harry will say "Poor Colin, frozen in time, just like one of his photographs." But, according to J.K. Rowling, magical pictures move about in their frames, and normal 'Muggle' instruments go haywire in Hogwarts. 4. Finally, when you complete the game, you start all over again. But as you have leveled up, most of your opponents should too. Unfortunately, every enemy stays at the same level. It's a shame - you could have a more interesting time mucking about with higher-level enemies. =PHANTOM CONVERSATION Submitted by griffinicolas@uol.com.br. Walk down towards your bed and Dobby will appear and tell you not to go back to school (or course you are). After he disappears, Ron and his brothers will appear in the flying car at the window and tell you they're bringing you home. Collect your suitcase, birdcage, and get your card deck (select your deck). Then talk to Ron. RON'S HOUSE You'll soon arrive at Ron's house and meet Mrs. Weasley, Ginny, and Mr. Weasley. There is a bag of jellybeans in the crate beside the house and a card in the other barrel, ect on the grounds. Go inside. You'll meet them in the kitchen and it'll go to the night. You're now in their living room. Talk to Mr. Weasley and he'll tell you to go to Ron's room to sleep. But don't go there right away, there are tons of items and cards in their house. There are pumpkin pasties in the fireplace, wizard card on the coffee table, and a pepper up potion in the bookcase. Go in the kitchen and you'll meet Mrs. Weasley. Talk to her and she'll go off to bed. You can go outside, however, I don't recommend it (you will later, anyway). Go back in the living room and go upstairs to the first level (there are a ton of levels). (If you don't want any of the items, skip to Ron's Room) Percy tells you good night and goes in his room. There is a card on the red table. Go in his room and there is a card in the dresser. There's also a potion in the window. Go upstairs to the next level. The right dresser contains a card. Go in the room next to it and there is a bag of jellybeans in the dresser. Search the top table for a card attack combo. The room across the hall is Ginny's. There's a card attack combo in the dresser and a bag of jellybeans in the night table. Go upstairs. There's card in the dresser thingy. Go in George and Fred's room, which is on the left. There are pumpkin pasties in the dresser and card in the window. Go upstairs to the basement. There is a card in the top left crate and pumpkin pasties in the chest. Go back downstairs and enter Ron's room on the left. There's a card in the dresser and another one in the bottom pile of clothes. RON'S ROOM Talk to Ron and you'll get a combo and go to sleep. Go downstairs when you wake up. Go into the kitchen and Mrs. Weasley the garden needs "de- gnoming". Follow Ron outside and he'll explain how to put the gnomes out the holes. It's kind of like a contest but you don't win or lose anything. After your pulls the gnomes out, you'll practice throwing them. I think it's pretty dumb, but you have to do it anyway. After you're done, Mr. Weasley will come out and teach you a new spell, "Informous" and give you the Folio Bruti. Go back inside and go into the living room. You'll see everyone crowded around the fireplace. Mrs. Weasley will give you Floo Powder and you'll go into the fire. KNOCKTURN ALLEY Unfortunately, you turned up in a bookshop in Knockturn Alley. Walk down next to the bookcase and Malfoy and his father will walk in. They'll talk for a little while and you can walk out (there are also items in the shops so you might want to check those). Walk down the left of the alley and you'll meet Hagrid at the bottom. He'll take you to Diagon Alley. DIAGON ALLEY Upon entering, the Weasley family greets you and gives you your vault key. Ron joins your "party". Go inside Gringotts. GRINGOTTS Talk to Griphook at the top of the room and he'll take you to the area where your and Ron's vaults are located. Unfortunately, Harry trips and again and you have to find your vaults. There are plenty of items in the place, so check the holes in the walls. Go to the far right of the room (opposite of the way Griphook went) and follow the path upwards to the other side of the room. See that big cloud up top? That's the boos cloud (yah, really easy compared to the last game.). Train a bit and if you think you're ready, fight the Knight. When you win, go up and meet Griphook. Go to the vault on the right, which is yours, and you'll enter and get some money. Go to the vault on the left, which is Ron's, and he'll get some money. Exit the way you came and leave Gringotts. DIAGON ALLEY Now that you have some money, you can start buying supplies. Restock whatever you need at the potion shop and candy shop and go into the quidditch shop. Ron will say he wished he could afford a Chudley Cannons Jersey. Talk to the shopkeeper and buy one (it's only 40 sc) and any other equipment. Then you'll give it to Ron and Ron will give you a football card in return (you can trade it later for something a lot better). Go down to the bottom row of shops and go into the store with the rabbit sign. She'll tell you that some purple toads are loose in the basement behind her and she'll give you a reward if you capture them all. Go back there and catch a frog (using "A"). The you have to battle it. Once you have all five frogs, talk to the lady again and she'll give you a card. Exit and go to the shop on the far left, the book shop. Talk to the lady at the counter to buy your schoolbooks. Go up to the aisle to the left and you'll meet Hagrid, Ron, Ginny, and Gilderoy Lockhart. Draco will come and make fun of you. After much talking, go back down to the entrance and you'll see Malfoy and his dad telling Mr. Weasley he's cheap (what else is new?). After they leave, talk to Mr. Weasley and he'll say you need to get to King's Cross. KING'S CROSS Everyone will enter Platform 9 3/4. When it's yours and Ron's turn, the Platform is closed. Go outside and up the left street and Ron will tell you they can use the car. Read the directions on how to fly. Play the little "game" and arrive at Hogwarts running into the Whomping Willow. *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* [CHAPTER 2 - HOGWARTS] *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* THE WHOMPING WILLOW You'll land at the top and Ron will break his wand. Head down towards the trunk and you'll see a boss cloud - The Willow's branch (it's more powerful than you think). After you defeat it you'll be on the Hogwarts grounds. It's very similar to the last game. HOGWART'S GROUNDS Follow the path down and you'll appear on anther screen. Go up and enter the school. HOGWARTS You're now inside the school. Just when you thought you were free.Snape catches you! He'll start asking you questions and then Dumbledore and McGonagall will come and save you. Dumbledore tells you Hogwarts has changed and thee are maps on each floor (maps are the boxes with question marks on them). Go up the floors (there are items in most of the rooms) until you get to the 7th floor. Go into the left corridor with the painting of the fat lady. Talk to her and Hermoine will come and tell you the password. GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM You guys will talk for a bit and Ron will "leave the group" and go to bed. Follow him upstairs into the boy's room and go up to your bed (top of the room) and sleep. When you wake up, Ron tells you you have Herbology class outside. Leave the Common Room and go down all the floors and exit Hogwarts. HOGWARTS GROUNDS Herbology class is easy to find. Go southwest and top the upper path at the fork (the lower path goes to Hagrid's). Enter the first Greenhouse. HERBOLOGY Walk up to the table where Hermoine is seated. Professor Sprout will explain about Mandrakes. She leaves the class and the Mandrakes start to escape. Follow them into the "garden" area of the greenhouse. To collect the mandrakes, you have to find them and fight them. To find the first Mandrake, go up and take a right and follow the path downwards until you get to a dead end part with a little plant head sticking up out of the ground. Go up to it and press "A" to battle it. When you defeat it you will get the first Mandrake. To get the second one, follow the path up from there and merge left on all the forks. You should eventually reach the top where Mandrake will be in a little area. The last Mandrake is just a hair away. Go down to the lower path and follow it right until you see a Boss Cloud. Fight the Firecrab and defeat it to find the last Mandrake in the large area above it. Now that you have all of the Mandrakes, take the path down to where you found the first Mandrake. Go left and exit there. Talk to Professor Sprout and she will teach you the Incendio Spell. Exit the greenhouse to go to Defense Against Dark Arts. HOGWARTS GROUNDS Follow the path north into Hogwarts. HOGWARTS Defense Against Dark Arts is located on the 3rd Floor, top left room. DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS Take your seat and Lockhart will start blabbing about his fake accomplishments. Then he'll release a cage of Dixies and fail to put them back in. Hermione tells you that you must freeze the Dixies. Time to play another game! This one is easy. Charge up your wand and freeze the Dixies as they fly by. After you play it, Ron and Hermione will join the group. Exit the class. HOGWARTS When you exit, Professor McGonagall will tell you to report for quidditch for practice. Exit Hogwarts through the Entrance Hall. HOGWARTS GROUNDS To get to the quidditch field, take the second right path from the entrance onto another screen. Follow the path down onto another screen. Follow this path down and go right as soon as you see the path. Enter the Quidditch Pitch. QUIDDITCH PITCH Talk to Oliver Wood and he'll ask you a bunch of questions. Of course, you automatically answer them and get them all right. Now it's time to play. Use the control pad to steer and the "A" button to boost. When you are near the Snitch, press the "B" button to catch it. VERY easy. Once you are done playing, Malfoy will come up and kick you off the field. Ron will get mad and try to cast a spell. He ends up cursing himself with a bad slug charm. Exit the Quidditch Pitch. HOGWARTS GROUNDS Now it's time to go to Hagrid's Cabin. Follow the paths back onto the main Hogwarts screen and go left like you're going to Herbology. Go south instead and enter the little fence. HAGRID'S HOUSE Enter his house. Hagrid will give you an ingredients list for the potion for Ron. Exit his house and go between the two hedges on the left of his house. HAGRID'S GARDEN It is extremely easy to find your way around here, so don't sweat it. 1.) The Cocoa Beans are located in the first "hole" in the hedge left from the entrance. 2.) A card attack combo is in the hole northwest of the cocoa beans. 3.) Go right from where you found the attack combo and enter the dead end that you see. Check the hole to find Germander. 4.) Go back to where you found the attack combo and take the next upper right path to the Wormwood. 5.) Go back to where you found the attack combo and head north from there. Go left up into the dead end and check the hole for the Valerian. 6.) Take the right part of the fork, past the hole (nothing is in it), up into an area with a blue boss cloud. Fight the Tentacula (Incendio is best) and receive Tentacula Sap 7.) Exit Hagrid's garden by heading left where you found the Valerian, down past the attack combo, and right at the bottom. HAGRID'S CABIN Enter his house again and talk to Hagrid to give him the ingredients. He'll make Ron some fudge and he'll be all better. Exit Hagrid's Cabin. HOGWART'S GROUNDS Follow the path up and enter Hogwarts. HOGWARTS As you head up the stairs of the entrance hall, Professor McGonagall reminds you of your detentions. You have to help Lockhart answer his fan mail, so head up to the third floor and enter Lockhart's office, bottom left door. LOCKHART'S OFFICE Talk to Lockhart, who is looking at a picture of himself, and he'll explain the dueling club. After he's finished blabbing, he'll make you answer his mail (no game in this). Exit Lockhart's office. HOGWARTS Right when you exit, Ron tells you to report to the quidditch field for practice. Exit Hogwarts via the entrance hall. As you exit, Nearly Headless Nick will invite you to his Deathday Party (big whoop). HOGWARTS GROUNDS Go to the Quidditch Pitch (you remember where it is, right?). QUIDDITCH PITCH Talk to Oliver to begin the match. It's just like the other times you have practiced, so it shouldn't be a problem. Exit the Pitch when you are done. HOGWARTS GROUNDS Enter Hogwarts. HOGWARTS Go up to the dungeon door to the left of the steps to find Ron and Hermione waiting for you. To find Nick's Party, head up, right, and up again, and then enter the first left corridor you see. Go up the big steps and enter the door with a skull on it. Nick will welcome you to his Deathday Party. Hermione will introduce you to Moaning Myrtle who finally gets offended and leaves. Ron and Hermione will inspect the food. Talk to the ghost to the right of the room and Sir Patrick will arrive. You'll talk for a while and he'll ask you to play Headless bowling (this is fun). I have no real strategy for this game than just to release fast and aim for the center pin. Play all 10 rounds and exit his party. *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* [CHAPTER 3 - THE KILLING BEGINS] *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* As you walk out of the dungeons, you will hear a disembodied voice mutter violent words several times (lol). Exit the dungeons and you will still hear it. Enter the first floor. Go up to the second floor and find the puddle of water and Mrs. Norris hanging gruesomely by its tail. Malfoy will come back and blame you for it. Then Snape and Dumbledore will appear and talk about the killing. You will go to sleep (auto). GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM Ron will tell you your next class is History of Magic where you can ask Professor Binns about the Chamber of Secrets. Exit the common room. HOGWARTS History of Magic is located 4th floor, top left door. HISTORY OF MAGIC Find your seat and Professor Binns will start talking about some history and fall asleep. Hermione will ask about the Chamber of Secrets. Professor Binns recruits you to find a book from the library. HOGWARTS The library is located on the 3rd floor, top right door. LIBRARY Go down the steps as you enter. Follow the closest aisle down to find Madam Prince. Talk to her and follow her up to the shelf. Search the shelf for "Hogwarts A History". Go back down the steps and exit the library. HOGWARTS Return to History of Magic, 4th floor top left door. HISTORY OF MAGIC Give the book to Professor Binns. He will start talking about the history of the so-called myth of the Chamber of Secrets. If you don't know the story, listen to it, if you do, just press the "A" button continuously until he shuts up. After class, Hermione and Ron join the group as you go investigate the writing on the wall. HOGWARTS Go down to the 2nd floor and find where the writing on the wall is. Hermione will find scorch marks and Ron will find spiders coming out of the wall. You and the group will go into Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. MOANING MYRTLE'S BATHROOM Go up and talk to Myrtle in her stall. She'll get offended and not tell you anything. You must bring her a flower from Hagrid to make her happy. Exit Hogwarts via the entrance hall. HOGWARTS GROUNDS Enter Hagrid's Hut. HAGRID'S HUT Enter his house. Talk to Hagrid at the fire and he'll tell you ghosts like lilies and you can find one in McGonagall's office. HOGWART'S GROUNDS Enter Hogwarts. HOGWARTS Travel to the first floor and enter her office (middle left door). Check the flower vase on her desk to get the lily. Go back to the 2nd floor and enter Myrtle's bathroom (bottom left door). MOANING MYRTLE'S BATHROOM Give Myrtle the flower and she'll teach you the Mucus Adnauseum spell. She doesn't know anything about last attack (so much for effort). Exit the bathroom. HOGWARTS Exit the bathroom and Percy will catch you and make a big pie out of you being in the girl's bathroom. What the heck with him. Go up to the 7th floor and enter your common room. GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM You'll start talking and Hermione comes up with the idea of making a Polyjuice Potion so you can turn yourselves into Crabbe and Goyle and enter the Slytherin Common Room. She needs the book from the restricted section, so you go to Lockhart for the note. HOGWARTS Go down to the third floor and enter Lockhart's office, bottom left door. LOCKHART'S OFFICE Talk to Lockhart in his usual place and he'll give you the note. Now let's go to the library. HOGWARTS Enter the top right door of that floor. LIBRARY Go down the stairs and find Madam Prince near her desk. Give her the note and go up to the restricted section (bookshelves on purple carpet) and search the shelves until you find the book. Hermione leaves the group to go study and Colin Creevy appears and reminds of your quidditch match against Slytherin. HOGWARTS Exit Hogwarts via the Entrance Hall. HOGWARTS GROUNDS Go to the Quidditch Pitch. QUIDDITCH PITCH Talk to Oliver Wood to begin the match. Unfortunately, this time, the bludgers are cursed at trying to kill you, so it'll be a strange match. You'll soon fall off your broom. Colin will start taking pictures and Lockhart will remove your bones. You'll be taken to the hospital wing. HOSPITAL WING You'll wake up in a hospital bed. Madam Promfrey will tell you the extent of your injuries and leave. Dobby appears and blabs on about trying to save you or whatever (the dude is annoying). Dumbledore will come and save you. He's dragging a petrified Colin Creevy. Days will pass. MOANING MYRTLE'S BATHROOM You meet Ron and Hermione in Myrtle's bathroom. After a bit of talking, you conclude you need more ingredients and it's time for potions class. HOGWARTS Go down to the entrance hall and enter the dungeons. It's the door on the left of the steps, room on the left as you enter. POTIONS CLASS Walk up to the door next to Snape and you'll advise a plan to distract him. Take your seats and Ron will let off a bunch of fireworks will you sneak off into the storeroom. Search the bookcase as you enter. You'll receive the Bicorn Horn. Go up the left path. Follow it up and around those walls until you get to the far right of the room. Search the bookcase to find Boomslang Skin. Exit by going back down around the walls and down past the bookcase. Take your seats again and Snape will dismiss you. Before you leave, Snape starts to get on your case about setting off the fireworks. The he tells you to report to the Dueling Club. HOGWARTS The Dueling Club is located at the end of the corridor to the right of the main staircase. Enter. THE DUELING CLUB When you enter, Ron and Hermione will leave the group. You walk up to battle Malfoy. Whether you defeat him or not doesn't matter, the same thing still happens afterwards. I recommend using the card attacks or Flipendo. After you win/lose, Malfoy will use the attack Serpensorsia that creates a big snake in front of you. It'll go after Justin Finch- Fletchley. You "tell it" to leave him alone and it disappears. Justin freaks out and leaves. Lockhart leaves and Snape and Malfoy remark strangely about what happened. You learn a new spell, Expelliarmus. Ron and Hermione tell you that you are a Parselmouth, people who can talk to snakes. Now you must explain to him about what happened. Exit. HOGWARTS You see Justin on the steps. Unfortunately, he runs away. Go onto the first floor. You'll see him run down. Go onto the second floor. You'll see him run up. Go onto the third floor. Justin and Nick the ghost are lying on the floor, petrified. Peeves appears and thinks you did it. Fortunately, Professor McGonagall comes to your rescue. Follow her and she'll open a "door" to Dumbledore's office. Enter. To get to his room, follow the left path up and around. Go up again first path you see. Go left and up that other path and enter his office. DUMBLEDORE'S OFFICE When you enter, you'll admire his room. The Sorting hat is on the table. Fawkes, the phoenix, looks a bit scrabby on his on his perch. He bursts into flames and crumples into ashes. Dumbledore enters and explains about the Phoenix. Listen to him talk awhile. Exit. GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM You are all huddled around the Christmas tree to talk about your plan. Hermione gives you two cakes to give to Crabbe and Goyle so you can put them to sleep and get their hair. Exit the common room. HOGWARTS Head down to the Entrance Hall to find Crabbe and Goyle waiting patiently (yeah right). Talk to them and they'll meet you in the Dueling Club for a battle. DUELING CLUB Walk up to the top of the room to begin the battle. Crabbe and Goyle aren't ridiculously hard like some other bosses. I recommend using Experlliaramus added with Fumos with Ron. Make sure you have potions in handy. Either way, you'll still give the cake to Crabbe and Goyle. They'll fall out and you can take their hair (you don't actually see them doing this thank God). BROOM CLOSET You've thrown the two slobs in here and receive their hair. Exit. HOGWARTS Go to Myrtle's bathroom, 2nd floor, bottom left door. MOANING MYRTLE'S BATHROOM Go up and give the hair to Hermione. You'll all drink the Polyjuice Potion and turn into Crabbe and Goyle. Unfortunately, Hermione is now a cat. You have to go on without her. Go to the dungeons on the entrance hall. Go up the small dungeon corridor and Snape will catch you. He thinks you're two Slytherins so he leaves. Talk to Malfoy at the very top and enter the Slytherin Common Room SLYTHERIN COMMON ROOM Talk to Malfoy and listen to his blabbing about Harry being the Slytherin's Heir. Halfway into the conversation, however, Ron starts to change back so you must quickly leave. Go back up to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom MOANING MYRTLE'S BATHROOM Talk to Hermione and the potion will finally wear off (for Harry and Ron anyway). Harry will discover a diary on the floor near the sinks. THEN you will realize Hermione is not herself.(she's still a cat). HOSPITAL WING Unfortunately, Madam Promfrey tells you that Hermione will probably remain a cat for a while. Poor Hermione.Anyway, days pass by. GREAT HALL Ugh, you walk in and everything's covered with flowers. Lockhart is throwing a Valentine's Day Party. Even worse, cupids will be delivering messages throughout the day. Walk around a bit and then leave. When you do, a cupid spots you and sings an embarrassing poem from Ginny. Walk outside. ENTRANCE HALL Fred and George make fun of the poem. Hermione and Ron say you should go up to the common room and study the diary. Go up to your Common Room. GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM Go up into your room and write in the diary. Somebody named "Tom Riddle" will write back. You'll talk for a bit and he'll transport you back to the past to see something. Tom Riddle will be talking to an old Headmaster about going back home for summer. Then you appear in the dungeons. That tall boy is Hagrid, by the way. Tom catches him smuggling a giant spider in another room. Busted! Anyway, Ron finds and you can finally go to bed. Go downstairs and Oliver will tell you to report to the next Quidditch game. Talk to Ron and Hermione and you'll hear another voice (real scary). HOGWARTS Exit Hogwarts via the Entrance Hall. HOGWARTS GROUNDS Go to the Quidditch Pitch. QUIDDITCH PITCH Talk to Oliver. Unfortunately, Professor McGonagall cancels the match and tells you to go back to the common room. So much for all the walking. McGonagall takes you aside. She tells you two students have been attack - a Ravenclaw and Hermione. Go into Hogwarts. HOGWARTS Go up to the Common Room. GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM McGonagall has a new set of rules for you. Get the invisibility cloak out of your chest and exit the Common Room. HOGWARTS Exit via the Entrance Hall. HOGWARTS GROUNDS Enter Hagrid's Cabin. HAGRID'S CABIN When you talk to Hagrid, he knows about Hermione. Then Dumbledore and Cornelius Fudge come to the door. Fudge thinks Hagrid opened the Chamber of Secrets. Lucius Malfoy comes in as well and makes up a bunch of crap. Finally, Hagrid has to be sent to Azkaban. He gives you a clue, though, to follow the spiders. Exit the Cabin. HOGWARTS GROUNDS When you exit, you'll see a moving trail of spiders. Follow them into the Forbidden Forest. Follow these seemingly never-ending trail of spiders (you might want to train a bit, too). Finally, a spider will jump out in front of you and take you to a giant spider, Aragog. Aragog will tell you a bit about the Chamber of Secrets. Just when you think you've got it down, he doesn't let you go (unless you defeat him). This is why I told you to train. Aragog is probably the hardest boss of the game and very frustrating. I recommend using Incendio (highest you have), Mucus Adnauseum (to inflict a bit more damage), and Ron's Fumos. Once you've defeated him, follow that trail of spiders back out until you exit and reach a cut scene, where you'll get in the Ford Angela and appear in front of the Herbology greenhouses. Enter Hogwarts. HOGWARTS Go up to Myrtle's Bathroom (second floor). Right as you're about to enter, McGonagall catches you. Of course, Harry and Ron always have an excuse. This time you were going to visit Hermione in the hospital. HOSPITAL WING Perhaps coming here was useful after all. Harry finds a note in Hermione's hand. It holds some very important information on the Basilisk and the Chamber of Secrets. Once you've thought you've got a breakthrough, McGonagall tells you that Ginny Weasley has been taken into the Chamber. Ron suggests you go seek Professor Lockhart's help. HOGWARTS Go to Lockhart's Office (go down a floor). You try to persuade Lockhart to help you, but he tells you he's a phony and a big liar. Now you have to fight him! This isn't an easy fight, either. Good spells are Expelliarmus, Fumos, and Mucus Adnauseum. You can also use card attacks. If you defeat him, he'll join your group (don't be so excited, his attacks are useless). Now we can finally go into Myrtle's Bathroom. MOANING MYRTLE'S BATHROOM Go up to the stall and talk to Myrtle. Myrtle tells you how she died and a little bit about the Chamber. Go up to the front of the sinks and check it. Ron will tell you to say something it Parseltongue. The door opens to the Chamber of Secrets. *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* [CHAPTER 3 - THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS] *~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* Now that you are in the Chamber of Secrets, you can save Ginny and defeat the Basilisk. Walk down the tunnel. About halfway, Lockhart will leave the group and try to curse you. Unfortunately, he has Ron's wand so it backfires, cursing him. A bunch of rocks fall down separating you and Ron. You're on your own now. Now you're in a maze part of the Chamber. I recommend training here since the Basilisk is very difficult. To get to the Chamber, go straight down and along the westward path. Go up and right at the first fork you see. Go up and right again immediately and follow the corridor into the exit. Go up the path until you reach the giant statue where Ginny is laying. Go up and check her. When you do, a boy appears. He is Tom Riddle. He'll start explaining about the Chamber. Listen to his blabbing until Fawkes comes and gives you to Sorting Hat. Then Tom will call out the Basilisk. Time for the final battle! The Basilisk isn't impossibly difficult. You have Fawkes (who doesn't last very long) at your side. The only attack you have is to swing the sword. Make sure you have plenty of health potions. His attacks deal big. Steadily wear him down until he is defeated, biting you in the process. Fawkes heals you and you stab the diary, killing Tom Riddle, too. Ginny will wake up and explain most everything. Fawkes will help everyone exit the Chamber. MOANING MYRTLE'S BATHROOM Thankfully, everyone is safe and alive. Exit. HOWGARTS McGonagall finds that everyone is alive, including Ginny. Go into her office. MCGONAGALL'S OFFICE Giinny's parents are here. They are very happy to see you. Dumbledore dismisses everyone and awards you for your bravery. Lucius Malfoy interrupts the celebration by complaining about Hagrid being let out and the Basilisk defeated. Lucius is also busted for putting the diary in Ginny's cauldron. Lucius will throw off the sock on the diary and Dobby will catch it, setting him free! Dumbledore tells you there is a special award banquet in the Grand Hall. It works better against flying/poison type monsters. -Incendio Uno(10)/Duo(20)/Tria(40) This is a more powerful fire spell as you can tell by the amount of MP it requires. This works better against plant-type monsters and well against most other monsters. -Mucus Adnauseam Uno(10)/Duo(20)/Tria(30) This spell poisons your opponent for the whole fighting, causing extra damage just before you attack. You must unlock the Hogwarts chest to get max. -Petrificus Totalus Uno(20)/Duo(30)/Tria(40) This spell paralyzes your opponent for a few turns. You get the spell by returning Katie's Bell book (check side quests). -Skurge (6) Skurge raises the power of a person in your party(?). You can get it only after Mrs. Norris has been petrified. Talk to the boy walking around the couches and he'll tell you Ginny has the book on the third floor. Talk to her and she'll only give you the book if you give her a picture of you. She also suggests you see Colin Creevy to take the picture. Go up to the fifth floor and talk to Colin who is sitting on one of the couches. Colin will take your picture. Give the photo to Ginny on the third floor I exchange for the book. Bring it back to Katie Bell in the hospital and she'll teach you Petrificus Totalus =GET THE DUELING CUP Sometime during your spare time (after Lockhart tells you about the Dueling Club and before you actually start dueling), visit the now open Dueling Club. Go up top and you'll see a bunch of students standing on circles. Talk to the first person and you'll begin the duel. Defeat him and you can move on to the next person. Each time you win, you get a prize: 1.) Witches and Wizards Card 2.) Witches and Wizards Card 3.) Card Attack Combo 4.) Steel Mesh Gloves 5.) Dragon Skin Boots 6.) Rabbit's Foot 7.) Dueling Trophy The Dueling Trophy has no real purpose than to just rot in your inventory. =MAGIC GLOVES (contributed by WDLCEL@aol.com) After you get the Kwikspell book, Filch finds you in his office. After a while, come back and he gives you the magic gloves. ,___, ,___,__ (OvO) (-v-)// (_^((\ WALKTHROUGH (_^((/ /S-m-m-\\---------------------------------------------m__mS\ O S H P =SECTION VI - BOSS GUIDE= ___/ S O \S--------------------------------------------------------S/ This seems to be in high demand (considering all of the emails I receive), so I will try to but the boss guide in as much detail as possible. =ARMOR This is the boss of the Gringotts vault. He is pretty easy so don't sweat it. If you have trouble defeating him, you might want to level up a bit more. Verdimillious Duo works best. =WHOMPING WILLOW This guy may be a bit of a challenge if you haven't leveled up enough. The only spell that is good is Vermillious. Make sure you have potions. =RUBY FIRECRAB This is the boss of Herbology class. He is also easy as long as you have leveled up. I don't recommend using Vermillious. Use Verdimillious Duo. =VENOMOUS TENTACULAR This is the boss of Hagrid's garden. He's simple to defeat; use Incendio and Vermillious at its best. =DRACO MALFOY It doesn't really matter if you defeat him or not, the same thing happens afterwards. I recommend using Flipendo and Verdimillious. =CRABBE AND GOYLE These two aren't any harder than Malfoy. Use Verdimillious and Flipendo. And maybe poison them with Mucus Adnasuseum. =ARAGOG This guy is probably one of the hardest in the game. Use fire spells like Incendio at its best. Use Fumos to cut off some of the damage he inflicts on you. Mucus Adnasuseum can inflict a bit more damage on top. But the best strategy is just to have lots of potions. Even if you've leveled up a lot, there is still a good chance he can easily cut away your health (recommended level: 40-50) =LOCKHART This guy isn't too hard. Fumos and Mucus Adnasuseum work well together. Also, use Petrificus Totalus to freeze him for about one turn. Inflicting spells that are good are Verdimillious Tria and Experlliaramus. =BASILISK There aren't a whole lot of options to defeat this guy. He is hard so you should have lots of potions at hand. Your only attack is to swing the sword and card attacks. Fawkes is there to help you but he usually dies very quickly. ,___, ,___,__ (OvO) (-v-)// (_^((\ WALKTHROUGH (_^((/ /S-m-m-\\---------------------------------------------m__mS\ O S H P =SECTION VII - FOLIO MAGI= ___/ S O \S--------------------------------------------------------S/ This is the complete list of cards descriptions by order of number.
