In DW3 for the GBC (and SNES although it was never released stateside) There are boards scattered throughout the game that you can play a game called Pachisi on. For more details check out the Rules and Symbols section (IV), but the geist is that you roll a dice and move one of your characters along a board, trying to get to the goal to win some prizes. Each time you stop, something may happen to change the course of the mini-game depending on the symbol on that space. Needless to say, since I am writing this FAQ, they are tons of fun and you can win some great gear with just a litttle time and effort. To make the experience as fun and easy as possible, I wrote this FAQ to help you. -Daydreamer *-----------------------* | III. Version History | *-----------------------* Version 0.5 - Thanks a bunch to Sdwwrym, who let me use his FAQ to find 8/26/01 many of the tokens I was missing. Theoretically I now have every Token in the game up until his Walkthrough ends at the Silver Medal Door in the 2nd Bonus Dungeon. Next update will have the final board and will be v1.0, this means it's the final version of the FAQ save error changes. Reformated Token and Version History Sections. Version 0.4 - Sorry for the 2 week wait, but the distance between boards 8/19/01 3 and 4 is HUGE. Also, I have discovered that the last board, board 5, is in the well in Zipangu well, but you must first complete the game and the first Bonus Dungeon to use it, so expect another fairly long wait until the next update. With any luck, V 0.5 will have almost all of the tokens, so stay tuned. Pachisi Boards | *---------------------* A. Shrine 1: Romaly Location: North of Romaly Directions: Exit Romaly and walk due north until you hit mountains. Then walk 4 steps East, and 4 steps North (It looks like a small shrine of sorts). Monsters: From the Reeve and Aliahan Regions Reccomended Level: 7 Rolls: 10 Dice Rolls per game Description: A very linear and simple board to get you aquainted with the mini- game, it is 21 spaces long and only has two sub-paths that each add a mere 6 spaces to the length of your journey. Reccomended Path: Strait upwards (forward), but feel free to take one of the side paths if you will land on either of the Dice+ spaces right next to the fork, they are a huge help Map: *---* | G | *---* | | *---* | F | *---* |G4 | *---* | | *---* | | *---* |T6 | *---*---*---*---* |SKL| |A-3| | *---*---*---*---* | | | ! | *---* *---* | P | |R-2| *---* *---*---*---*---* |R+3| |SLM|T5 | |T4 | *---* *---*---*---*---* | | | | | F | *---* *---* *---* |A-2| | E | | | *---*---*---*---* *---* |G3 |T3 |R+2| ? | | ? | *---*---*---*---* *---* | | |G2 | *---* *---* |G1 | |T2 | *---*---*---*---* |T1 |R+1| |Itm| *---*---*---*---* | | *---* |A+3| *---* | | *---* | S | *---* T1 - Knife T2 - Herb T3 - Leather Hat T4 - Wooden Boomerang T5 - Ticket T6 - Life Acorn G1 - +50 gold G2 - +100 gold G3 - -50 gold G4 - -50 gold Item Shop: Steel Sword - 1300 gold Leather Robe - 420 gold Iron Sheild - 1200 gold Reward: Steel Sword 500 gold B. Shrine 2: Ashalam Location: South-West of Ashalam Directions: Exit Ashalam and walk 10 steps West and 14 steps South. Its a shrine in the middle of a medium-sized Forest. Monsters: From the Romaly and Kazave Regions Reccomended Level: 10 Rolls: 22 Dice Rolls per game Description: The Pachisi board is a giant circle, 58 sqares around, on which you must travel clockwise. The goal is on a short 6 square strech in the center accessable by three Traveler's Gates on the circular portion of the track. Reccomended Path: If you are going for the goal, I recommend trying the course again if you miss all three Traveler's Gates on your first lap, otherwise you will almost certainly not have enough rolls to complete the course. Shrine 3: Lone Cave Location: In the middle of the largest continent (the Asia look-alike) Directions: Warp to Aliahan, exit the town, and jump on your ship. Sail due South until you are in between Asia and North America. Of the three main rivers flowing from the Pacific into Asia, we want the middle one (the one that marks the Northern edge of the Great Forest). Follow the river East and South, and stop when you see some hills to your left. The cave where board is, is in the forest just past those hills. Monsters: From the Portola Region and the Pyramid Reccomended Level: 20 Rolls: 20 Dice Rolls per game Description: The first of the 'advanced' boards, it is the first board to have two floors and the first to be truly difficult. It is in the shape of two distorted crosses, or, more accurately (and less politically correct) two distorted Nazi swastikas. Reccomended Path: You will come to a crossroads where you have three choices, East, West, or South. West is the best choice, since it is the shortest route and only has one major obstacle, a single trap door. 1st Floor Map: *---*---*---* |A+3| | S | *---* *---*---*---* |Up | |T1 | *---* *---* | P | | | *---* *---* |Itm| | | *---* *---*---*---*---*---* | | |G1 | | |T2 |Slm| *---* *---*---*---*---*---* | F | |R+1| *---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---* |Slm| | W |T3 | | | ? | | |A+3| | W | | *---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---* | | |Inn| *---* *---* | | | E | *---* *---* |G2 | |T4 | *---* *---* | | | ? | *---*---* *---* |Slm| W | | | *---*---*---*---*---*---*---* *---* |Up |T5 | U |T6 |R+1| F | |Up | *---*---*---*---*---*---* *---* T1 - Strength Seed T2 - Turban T3 - Luck Seed T4 - Silver Tiara T5 - Token T6 - Power Belt G1 - +500 gold G2 - -500 gold Item Shop: Flame Boomerang - 6500 gold Speed Ring - 3100 gold Horned Hat - 2300 gold Inn: 200 gold per rest 2nd Floor Map: *---* *---*---*---*---*---*---*---* |Dwn| |G1 | |A+2|T1 | E | ? |G2 | *---* *---*---*---*---*---*---*---* | | |Slm| | | *---*---*---* *---* *---* |G3 | |T2 | |A-3| |Inn| *---*---*---* *---* *---* | | |R-1| | F | *---* *---* *---* *---* |A+4| |T3 | | G | |R+1| *---* *---* *---*---*---*---* |Skl| | | | |A-6|Slm|Skl| *---*---*---* *---* *---*---*---*---* |T4 | |Inn| | | *---*---*---*---*---* | E | | ! | *---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---* | P |T5 | F |R+2| | ? |T6 | *---*---*---*---*---*---*---* | | |R+1| *---*---*---* *---* | |G4 | E | |A-4| *---*---*---* *---*---*---*---* | ? | | E |R+1|A+3| | *---*---*---*---* *---*---*---*---* |Inn|R-1|T7 | F | |Slm| *---*---*---*---* *---* |A-1| |G5 | *---* *---*---*---*---* | | | |R+2| |Dwn| *---* *---*---*---*---* |Dwn| *---* T1 - Flashy Suit T2 - Token T3 - Tiny Medal T4 - Knife T5 - Skirt T6 - Party Dress T7 - Magic Acorn G1 - +1000 gold G2 - -500 gold G3 - -500 gold G4 - +500 gold G5 - -1000 gold Inn: 200 gold per rest Reward: Dragon Whip Agility Seed D. The bottom floor is shaped like a 'W', with the start on a small branch down from the middle hump. Reccomended Path: The crossroads on the first floor decides which half of the second floor you go to. The left fork leads to the Southern part of the second floor and the goal that has a Light Dress. Tips and Tricks | *------------------------* Tips Use the Hero, he has almost Soldier-like stats and gear, and his heal spells are ultra-useful. If you don't wish to use the Hero for whatever reason, you can use a Soldier or Fighter. Use the Map option frequently. The prizes at the end of each map are by far the best, so unless you have tokens to spare, don't worry about the smaller prizes Don't save if you don't get what you want, tokens are hard to come by. If you are trying for the goal, DO NOT SEARCH PLAINS/FOREST/HILL SPACES, you find Trap Doors way to often *---------------* | VIII.
